OBJECTIVE: There is an urgent need for novel biomarkers that are inexpensive, effective and easily accessible to complement the early diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between serum gamma-glutamate-transpeptidase to platelet ratio, alkaline phosphatase-to-platelet ratio index, fibrosis index based on four factors and the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma, and to determine the optimal cut-offs for predicting hepatocellular carcinoma. METHODS: Based on a prospective cohort study, 44 215 participants who were cancer-free at baseline (2011-13) were included in the study. Cox proportional hazard models and receiver operating characteristics curves were used to analyze the diagnostic value and optimal cut-off value of gamma-glutamyl-transpeptidase to platelet ratio, alkaline phosphatase-to-platelet ratio index and fibrosis index based on four factors in predicting hepatocellular carcinoma patients. RESULTS: Gamma-glutamyl-transpeptidase to platelet ratio, alkaline phosphatase-to-platelet ratio index and fibrosis index based on four factors can be used as early independent predictors of hepatocellular carcinoma risk. The risk of hepatocellular carcinoma in the fourth quantile of gamma-glutamyl-transpeptidase to platelet ratio and alkaline phosphatase-to-platelet ratio index was 4.04 times (hazard ratio = 4.04, 95% confidence interval: 2.09, 7.80) and 2.59 times (hazard ratio = 2.59, 95% confidence interval: 1.45, 4.61), respectively, compared with the first quantile. With fibrosis index based on four factors first quantile as a reference, fibrosis index based on four factors fourth quantile had the highest risk (hazard ratio = 18.58, 95% confidence interval: 7.55, 45.72). Receiver operating characteristic results showed that fibrosis index based on four factors had a stronger ability to predict the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (area under curve = 0.81, 95% confidence interval: 0.80, 0.81), and similar results were shown for gender stratification. In the total population, the optimal cut-off values of gamma-glutamyl-transpeptidase to platelet ratio, alkaline phosphatase-to-platelet ratio index and fibrosis index based on four factors were 0.208, 0.629 and 1.942, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: Gamma-glutamyl-transpeptidase to platelet ratio, alkaline phosphatase-to-platelet ratio index and fibrosis index based on four factors were independent predictors of hepatocellular carcinoma risk. Amongst them, fibrosis index based on four factors shows a stronger predictive ability for hepatocellular carcinoma risk, and gamma-glutamyl-transpeptidase to platelet ratio and alkaline phosphatase-to-platelet ratio index can be used as complementary indicators.

RESUMEN

Two new RNA viruses were identified in Ageratum conyzoides in China using high-throughput sequencing, and their genome sequences were determined using PCR and rapid amplification of cDNA ends. The new viruses, which have positive-sense, single-stranded RNA genomes, were provisionally named "ageratum virus 1" (AgV1) and "ageratum virus 2" (AgV2). AgV1 has a genome of 3,526 nucleotides with three open reading frames (ORFs) and shares 49.9% nucleotide sequence identity with the complete genome of Ethiopian tobacco bushy top virus (genus Umbravirus, family Tombusviridae). The genome of AgV2 consists of 5,523 nucleotides and contains five ORFs that are commonly observed in members of the genus Enamovirus of the family Solemoviridae. Proteins encoded by AgV2 exhibited the highest amino acid sequence similarity (31.7-75.0% identity) to the corresponding proteins of pepper enamovirus R1 (an unclassified enamovirus) and citrus vein enation virus (genus Enamovirus). Based on their genome organization, sequence, and phylogenetic relationships, AgV1 is proposed to be a new umbra-like virus of the family Tombusviridae, and AgV2 is proposed to be a new member of the genus Enamovirus of the family Solemoviridae.

Currently few studies have explored the relationship between exposure to gaseous pollutants and metabolic health indicators in patients, especially in patients with metabolic syndrome (Mets). This study collected 15,520 patients with Mets in a prospective cohort of nearly 50,000 people with 7 years of follow-up from 2011 to 2017, and matched air pollutants and meteorological data during the same period. The mixed effects model was used to analyze the relationship between different short exposure windows (1-week, 1-month, 2-month, and 3-month) of gaseous pollutants (SO2, NO2, and O3) and the metabolic health indicators of patients after controlled the confounding factors. Stratified analysis was performed by demographic characteristics and behavioral factors. The effects of gaseous pollutants on patients with different Met components were also analyzed. The results showed that the short-term exposure to SO2, NO2, and O3 had a certain effect on the metabolic health indicators of patients with Mets in different exposure windows, and with the extension of the exposure window period, the effects increased. The stratified analysis showed that gender, age, and life behaviors might modify these detrimental effects. In addition, the effects of gaseous pollutants on metabolic health indicators in G4 and G7 were more obvious than other Met components, and the effects of gaseous pollutants on the level of LDL-C were found to be statistically significant in most components. Therefore, patients with Mets should pay more attention to the influence of gaseous pollutants to take appropriate protection to reduce potential health risk.

INTRODUCTION: It is not clear whether serum uric acid (SUA) levels and their changes over time are associated with the risk of stroke. A 7-year prospective cohort study in northwest China was conducted to analyze effects of SUA and their changes on the risk of stroke. METHODS: A total of 23,262 individuals without cardiovascular disease in the Jinchang cohort were followed up for an average of 5.26 years. The Cox proportional hazard model was used to estimate the hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) of stroke incidence to SUA and relative changes in SUA. Sensitivity analysis was performed after controlling the effect of renal insufficiency. RESULTS: Baseline SUA and relative changes in SUA were positively correlated with the incidence of stroke in both males and females (p for overall association <0.0001). Stroke risk increased by 4.6% per 10% increase in the relative change of SUA (HR = 1.046, 95% CI, 1.007-1.086). The fully adjusted regression analysis demonstrated that only the large gain (>30%) in SUA was associated with an increased risk of stroke by 36.5% (95% CI, 1.8-83.0%), compared with the reference group (participants within ±10% changes in SUA). The same trend was observed in people with normal baseline SUA. In the unadjusted model, the risk of stroke associated with elevated SUA was significantly higher in the hyperuricemia group than in the normal SUA group. CONCLUSION: High initial SUA concentration and an increase in SUA concentration over time would increase the risk of stroke, and this means that there is no safe increase in SUA.

The Jinchang Cohort was an ongoing 20-year ambispective cohort with unique metal exposures to an occupational population. From January 2014 to December 2019, the Jinchang Cohort has completed three phases of follow-up. The baseline cohort was completed from June 2011 to December 2013, and a total of 48 001 people were included. Three phases of follow-ups included 46 713, 41 888, and 40 530 participants, respectively. The death data were collected from 2001 to 2020. The epidemiological, physical examination, physiological, and biochemical data of the cohort were collected at baseline and during follow-up. Biological specimens were collected on the baseline to establish a biological specimen bank. The concentrations of metals in urine and serum were detected by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The new areas of research aim to study the all-cases mortality, the burden of diseases, heavy metals and diseases, and the course of the chain from disease to high-risk outcomes using a combination of macro and micro means, which provided a scientific basis to explore the pathogenesis of multi-etiology and multi-disease and to evaluate the effects of the intervention measures in the population.

A novel varicosa-like virus was identified in a tall morning glory (Ipomoea purpurea) plant by high-throughput sequencing and tentatively named "morning glory varicosavirus" (MGVV). The complete genome of MGVV contains two segments of negative-sense single-stranded RNA of 6409 (RNA1) and 5288 (RNA2) nucleotides. RNA1 encodes a 224.3-kDa large protein (224K), and RNA2 encodes four putative proteins of 48.6 kDa (49K), 46.4 kDa (46K), 35.7 kDa (36K), and 36.8 kDa (37K), respectively. The 224K and 49K proteins show amino acid sequence similarity to the large protein (39.4%) and the 49K protein (22.6%), respectively, of red clover-associated varicosavirus, and the 36K protein shares 19.6% amino acid sequence similarity with protein 3 of lettuce big-vein associated virus. The 46K and 37K proteins share no significant sequence similarity to known functional viral sequences. Phylogenetic analysis based on the large protein of MGVV and other rhabdoviruses showed that MGVV clustered with the varicosaviruses. These analyses indicate that MGVV is a novel member of the genus Varicosavirus in the family Rhabdoviridae.

Sweet potato chlorotic stunt virus (SPCSV; genus Crinivirus, family Closteroviridae) is one of the most destructive viruses infecting sweet potatoes. In this study, we determined the complete genome sequence of an SPCSV-like isolate (CH) from Calystegia hederacea Wall. (Convolvulaceae), a weed species related to sweet potato, by combining next-generation sequencing and rapid amplification of cDNA ends. Comparisons of genome sequences and organization confirmed the classification of CH as SPCSV. However, the sequences and phylogenetic data revealed substantial genetic divergence between CH and all known SPCSV isolates. The amino acid sequence identity between the putative proteins in SPCSV-CH and the corresponding proteins in other known SPCSV isolates in each case was less than 85.0%. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that SPCSV-CH is separate from the groups of the known SPCSV isolates. Additionally, SPCSV-CH RNA1 lacks a p22 gene. A 10.1-kDa putative protein (p10) encoded by a sequence in the 5'-terminal region of RNA2 in SPCSV-CH is much larger than the corresponding protein in all known SPCSV isolates.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Whether the asymptomatic hyperuricemia (AH) raise the cardiovascular disease risk with or without hyperuricemia-related comorbidities still remains contentious. Our study was aimed to quantitatively access the incidence risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) and stroke associated with AH. METHODS AND RESULTS: In this prospective cohort study, multivariate-adjusted Cox regression models were applied to evaluate the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Baseline serum uric acid beyond normouricemia (357 mmol/L) was quarterly stratified based on the distribution of healthy populations without CVD onset. 1062 CVD first-attack cases were collected among the 29,974 study population (age range: 18-91, mean age: 47.2 ± 13.9 years-old) with a mean follow-up duration of 5.78 ± 0.83 years. The AH showed overall non-association with the CVD incident. However, significantly increased adjusted hazard ratio (HR) of CVD with 95% confidence interval (CI) were observed when the fourth quartile compared with normouricemia stratum in the total cohort population (CHD: 1.42, 1.21-1.68; stroke: 1.27, 1.06-1.41), male (CHD: 1.26, 1.12-1.55), female (CHD: 1.34, 1.04-2.02; stroke: 2.06, 1.13-3.77) and aged over 50 years-old population. Meanwhile, the age-standardized incidence rate of CVD in the fourth quartile was 2-3 times higher than the normouricemia population. After excluded 14,464 baseline population with diabetes, dyslipidemia, and hypertension, consistent results were also observed in the AH population in absence of comorbidities (CHD: 1.51, 1.22-2.25; stroke: 1.68, 1.13-2.39). CONCLUSION: Asymptomatic hyperuricemia patients exposed to a higher level of uric acid (>=428 mmol/L) could significantly increase the incidence risk of CHD and stroke, with or without hyperuricemia-related comorbidities.

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to confirm whether hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and the levels of liver enzymes would increase the risk of prediabetes and diabetes mellitus (DM) in China. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 10,741 individuals was enrolled in this prospective cohort study. Cox regression analysis was used to calculate the Hazard ratios (HRs) to evaluate the relationships between HBV infection and the risk of DM and prediabetes. Decision trees and dose response analysis were used to explore the effects of liver enzymes levels on DM and prediabetes. RESULTS: In baseline population, HBV infection ratio was 5.31%. In non-adjustment model, the HR of DM in HBV infection group was 1.312 (95% CI, 0.529-3.254). In model adjusted for gender, age and liver cirrhosis, the HR of DM in HBV infection group were 1.188 (95% CI, 0.478-2.951). In model adjusted for gender, age, liver cirrhosis, smoking, drinking, the HR of DM was 1.178 (95% CI, 0.473-2.934). In model further adjusted for education, family income and occupation, the HR of DM was 1.230 (95% CI, 0.493-3.067). With the increases of levels of Alanine aminotransferase (ALT), Aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and Gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT), the risk of prediabetes was gradually increasing (Pnon-linearity<0.05). There were dose-response relationships between ALT, GGT and the risk of DM (Pnon-linearity<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: HBV infection was not associated with the risk of prediabetes and DM. The levels of liver enzymes increased the risk of prediabetes and DM.

The work is devoted to an analysis of interference torque of a gas-dynamic bearing gyroscope, while a condition with uniformly changed specific force and carrier angular velocity are taken into account. A five-degrees-of-freedom (5-DOF) model is established considering the translation and tilt of the rotor, which solves dynamic rotor equations and the Reynolds equation simultaneously. The model makes it possible to obtain the rotor trajectory under time-transient specific force and carrier angular velocity. The interference torque of the gyroscope is analyzed based on the rotor trajectory. Results indicate that the gas-dynamic bearings show a significant hysteresis effect with a perturbation of bearing force or bearing moment, which indicates the necessity of transient research. Interference torque is large when the carrier angular velocity starts to change or stops to change, and when the specific force stops to change. When the specific force change rate is less than 8.4 km/s3 with no change of the carrier angular velocity, the condition could be simplified as a steady state, which is consistent with the previous study.

TP73 antisense RNA 1 (TP73-AS1), a novel long noncoding RNA (lncRNA), has been suggested to be deregulated in various human cancers and serve as a tumor suppressor or promoter, depending on tumor types. The role of TP73-AS1 in osteosarcoma is still unknown. In our results, TP73-AS1 was highly expressed in osteosarcoma tissue samples and cell lines compared with matching adjacent nontumor tissue specimens and a normal human osteoblast cell line, respectively. Moreover, high expression of TP73-AS1 was statistically associated with advanced Enneking stage, large tumor size, present distant metastasis, and poor histological grade, while exhibiting no statistical association with age, sex, and tumor site. The survival analyses showed that patients with osteosarcoma with high expression of TP73-AS1 obviously had lower overall survival than osteosarcoma patients with low expression of TP73-AS1, and high expression of TP73-AS1 was an independent poor prognostic factor for osteosarcoma patients. The experiments in vitro indicated that inhibition of TP73-AS1 expression depressed osteosarcoma cell viability, migration, and invasion, and arrested cell cycle. In conclusion, TP73-AS1 serves as oncogenic lncRNA participated in osteosarcoma progression.

Sweepoviruses (a group of begomoviruses that infect plants in the family Convolvulaceae) have monopartite genomes that consist of a circular, single-stranded DNA molecule. Seventy-three complete genomic sequences of sweepoviruses were characterized from the sweet potato samples collected in China. Eight sweepovirus species, including two novel species with proposed names of Sweet potato leaf curl China virus 2 and Sweet potato leaf curl Sichuan virus 2, were identified among these samples. One species, Sweet potato leaf curl Canary virus, was first identified in China. Among the 13 identified strains of Chinese sweepoviruses, 4 were newly discovered. Sweet potato leaf curl virus had the highest frequency (53.4%) of occurrence in the sweet potato samples from China. The similarities among the 73 sweepovirus genomic sequences were between 77.6 and 100.0%. Multiple recombination events were identified, and 16 recombinant sequences were determined. Recombination was observed between different species and between different strains of the same species. Recombination breakpoints were mainly localized on the intergenic region and in three open reading frames (AC1, AV1, and AV2). This study is the first comprehensive report on the genetic diversity of sweepoviruses in China.

The complete genome sequence of a novel monopartite begomovirus, isolate G-YU-12-10, was obtained from sweet potato samples exhibiting severe leaf curl symptoms in Xinxiang, Henan Province, China. The genome sequence consisted of 2766 nucleotides and encoded two open reading frames (ORFs) (AV1 and AV2) in the viral-sense strand and four ORFs (AC1-AC4) in the complementary-sense strand. The genome of isolate G-YU-12-10 was closely related to other sweet-potato-infecting begomoviruses (sweepoviruses) and shared the highest nucleotide sequence identity (89.0 %) with sweet potato leaf curl China Sichuan virus (SPLCCSV, KC488316). Thus, the G-YU-12-10 isolate represents a novel species according to the demarcation criteria of species in the genus Begomovirus, for which the name Sweet potato leaf curl Henan virus (SPLCHnV) is proposed. Interspecific recombination analysis supported the recombination hypothesis, indicating that recombination with other begomoviruses had taken place within AC2 and AC3 ORFs of SPLCHnV and also in the non-coding intergenic region (IR).

Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is a rare immune-related adverse event (irAE) that can occur in solid tumors such as hepatocellular carcinoma, gastric cancer, breast cancer, and colorectal cancer. It is characterized by progressive myasthenia and mild sensory abnormalities. The emergence of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) has significantly improved cancer patients' life expectancy but can also trigger various irAEs, including GBS. We report a rare case of GBS in a 64-year-old male patient with dual primary tumors of the colon and stomach who received toripalimab and chemotherapy for liver metastases. After five treatments, the patient experienced weakness and numbness in his limbs. Lumbar puncture, electromyography, and other tests confirmed the diagnosis of GBS. Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) and methylprednisolone did not improve the patient's symptoms, but rituximab, which is not a standard regimen for GBS, was effective in eliminating B cells and improving symptoms. Following this, we effectively shifted from a regimen combining immunotherapy and chemotherapy to a targeted therapy regimen, resulting in prolonged patient survival. Currently, limited studies have been undertaken to evaluate the efficacy of rituximab in managing refractory neurological adverse events associated with ICI therapy. Using this case, we reviewed similar cases and formed our views.

Background: Studies have found that the ratio of total cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (TC/HDL-C) was associated with the development of chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, the relationship in different genders was rarely discussed. The aim of this study was to explore this relationship and assess its predictive power for both males and females. Methods: Based on a prospective cohort platform in northwest China, 32,351 participants without CKD were collected in the baseline and followed up for approximately 5 years. Cox proportional hazard model and restricted cubic spline regression analysis were performed to investigate the association between TC, HDL-C, TC/HDL-C and CKD in adult female and male. The clinical application value of the indicators in predicting CKD was evaluated by the receiver operator characteristic curve. Results: During a mean follow-up of 2.2 years, 484 males and 164 females developed CKD. After adjusted for relevant confounders, for every one standard deviation increase in TC, HDL-C and TC/HDL-C, the hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) for CKD were 1.17 (1.05-1.31), 0.84 (0.71-0.99), and 1.15 (1.06-1.25) for males, 0.94 (0.78-1.13), 0.58 (0.35-0.95), and 1.19 (1.01-1.40) for females, respectively. The results also showed that TC, HDL-C, and TC/HDL-C were associated with CKD in a linear dose-response relationship. The TC/HDL-C had the largest area under the curve (AUC) compared to TC and HDL-C, and the AUC among the females was larger than that among males. Conclusions: The TC/HDL-C was significantly associated with CKD in adult males and females and has better clinical value in predicting CKD than TC and HDL-C, especially in females.

African swine fever virus (ASFV) is a large double stranded DNA arbovirus that is highly contagious and seriously endangers domestic and wild pigs. In the past decade, African swine fever (ASF) has spread in many countries in the Caucasus, Russian Federation, Eastern Europe and Asia, causing significant losses to the pig industry. At present, there is a lack of effective vaccine and treatment for ASF. Therefore, the rapid and accurate detection is crucial for ASF prevention and control. In this study, we have developed a portable lateral flow strip (LFS) detection mediated by recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) and CRISPR/LwCas13a, which is performed at 37 ℃ and visualized by eyes without the need for complex instruments. This RPA-LwCas13a-LFS is based on the ASFV structural protein p17 gene (D117L), with a detection sensitivity up to 2 gene copies. This method is highly specific and has no cross reactivity to 7 other pig viruses. In the detection of two batches of 100 clinical samples, the p17 (D117L) RPA-LwCas13a-LFS had 100% coincidence with conventional quantitative PCR (qPCR). These findings demonstrate the potential of this simple, rapid, sensitive, and specific ASFV detection method for on-site ASFV detection.

Per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have been reported to have hepatotoxic effects. However, it is unclear whether they are linked to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). This nested case-control study focused on the epidemiological links between PFAS and the prevalence of NAFLD. We selected 476 new cases of NAFLD and 952 age- and sex-matched controls from the Jinchang cohort population between 2014 and 2019. Serum concentrations of PFAS were measured using high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS). Only PFAS with a detection rate of ≥90 % were included for analysis, which included PFPeA, PFOA, PFNA, PFHxS, PFOS, and 9Cl-PF3ONS. The relationship between single and co-exposure to PFAS and the occurrence of NAFLD was evaluated using conditional logistic regression, Quantile g-computation (QgC), and Bayesian kernel machine regression (BKMR) model. Logistic regression indicated that PFPeA, PFOA, and 9Cl-PF3ONS were positive correlation with the incidence of NAFLD after adjusting for confounders, with odds ratios (OR) and 95 % confidence interval (CI) of 3.13 (95 % CI: 2.53, 3.86), 1.39 (95 % CI: 1.12, 1.73), and 1.41 (95 % CI: 1.20, 1.66), respectively. PFNA, PFHxS, and PFOS were nonlinearly and negatively associated with the incidence of NAFLD, with OR (95 % CI) of 0.53 (0.46, 0.62), 0.83 (0.73, 0.95), and 0.52 (0.44, 0.61), respectively. QgC showed a significant joint effect of PFAS mixture on NAFLD onset (OR: 1.52, 95 % CI: 1.24, 1.88). BKMR showed a weak positive trend between PFAS mixtures and NAFLD incidence. Positive correlations were primarily driven by PFPeA and 9Cl-PF3ONS, while negative correlations were mainly influenced by PFNA and PFOS. The BKMR model also suggested that there was an interaction between PFOS and PFNA and other four PFAS compounds. In conclusion, our findings suggest that individual and co-exposure to PFAS is associated with a risk of NAFLD onset.

Host response to invasion by many gram-negative bacteria depends upon activation of Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) by endotoxin presented as a monomer bound to myeloid differentiation factor 2 (MD-2). Metabolic labeling of hexaacylated endotoxin (LOS) from Neisseria meningitidis with [(13)C]acetate allowed the use of NMR to examine structural properties of the fatty acyl chains of LOS present in TLR4-agonistic and -antagonistic binary and ternary complexes with, respectively, wild-type or mutant (F126A) MD-2 ± TLR4 ectodomain. Chemical shift perturbation indicates that Phe(126) affects the environment and/or position of each of the bound fatty acyl chains both in the binary LOS·MD-2 complex and in the ternary LOS·MD-2·TLR4 ectodomain complex. In both wild-type and mutant LOS·MD-2 complexes, one of the six fatty acyl chains of LOS is more susceptible to paramagnetic attenuation, suggesting protrusion of that fatty acyl chain from the hydrophobic pocket of MD-2, independent of association with TLR4. These findings indicate that re-orientation of the aromatic side chain of Phe(126) is induced by binding of hexaacylated E, preceding interaction with TLR4. This re-arrangement of Phe(126) may act as a "hydrophobic switch," driving agonist-dependent contacts needed for TLR4 dimerization and activation.

To obtain a better understanding of the molecular variation of sweet potato viruses in China, 131 samples were collected from symptomatic sweet potato plants and used for RT-PCR analysis of the heat shock protein 70 (hsp70) gene sequence of sweet potato chlorotic stunt virus (SPCSV) and the coat protein (CP) gene sequences of five potyviruses (SPFMV, SPVC, SPVG, SPLV and SPV2). The hsp70 sequences that were obtained provided evidence for the presence of two distinct strains of SPCSV. Analysis of the CP sequences amplified from the samples indicated that all five potyviruses infect sweet potato in China, and three different strains of SPFMV and two of SPVG were found.

The complete genome sequence of a new monopartite begomovirus isolate SC-1 was obtained from sweet potato samples in Sichuan province, China. The viral genome consists of 2,764 nucleotides (nt) and encodes two open reading frames (ORFs) called AV1 and AV2 genes in the viral-sense strand and four ORFs (AC1-AC4) in the complementary-sense strand. Sequence comparisons revealed that it shared the highest level of nt sequence identity (81.2 %) with Sweet potato leaf curl Georgia virus (AF326775). Phylogenetic analysis showed that the SC-1 genome was in a separate clade from other 29 begomovirus isolates. Thus, the SC-1 isolate is a novel species according to the demarcation criteria of species in the genus Begomovirus, for which the name "Sweet potato leaf curl China Sichuan Virus" (SPLCCSV) is proposed. Recombination analysis suggests that SPLCCSV has sequences derived from recombination between Sweet potato leaf curl virus (SPLCV) isolate GZ01 (JX286653) and SPLCV isolate Merremia N4 (DQ644563).
