RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The taxonomy of Taxus Linn. remains controversial due to its continuous phenotypic variation and unstable topology, thus adversely affecting the formulation of scientific conservation strategies for this genus. Recently, a new ecotype, known as Qinling type, is mainly distributed in the Qinling Mountains and belongs to a monophyletic group. Here, we employed multiple methods including leaf phenotype comparison (leaf shapes and microstructure), DNA barcoding identification (ITS + trnL-trnF + rbcL), and niche analysis to ascertain the taxonomic status of the Qinling type. RESULTS: Multiple comparisons revealed significant differences in the morphological characters (length, width, and length/width ratio) among the Qinling type and other Taxus species. Leaf anatomical analysis indicated that only the Qinling type and T. cuspidata had no papilla under the midvein or tannins in the epicuticle. Phylogenetic analysis of Taxus indicated that the Qinling type belonged to a monophyletic group. Moreover, the Qinling type had formed a relatively independent niche, it was mainly distributed around the Qinling Mountains, Ta-pa Mountains, and Taihang Mountains, situated at an elevation below 1500 m. CONCLUSIONS: Four characters, namely leaf curvature, margin taper, papillation on midvein, and edges were put forward as primary indexes for distinguishing Taxus species. The ecotype Qingling type represented an independent evolutionary lineage and formed a unique ecological niche. Therefore, we suggested that the Qingling type should be treated as a novel species and named it Taxus qinlingensis Y. F. Wen & X. T. Wu, sp. nov.

RESUMEN

Since the initial identification of vaccine-derived rubella virus (RuV) in the cutaneous granulomas of pediatric patients with inborn errors of immunity in 2014, more than 80 cases of RuV granulomas have been reported implicating both vaccine-derived and wild type RuV. Previously thought to arise exclusively in patients with significant immunocompromise, the identification of RuV granulomas in clinically immunocompetent patients adds nuance to our understanding of the interplay between host environment, immune dysregulation, and RuV granuloma formation. This review summarizes the literature on RuV granulomas including clinical and histopathologic features, proposed pathomechanisms supporting granuloma development, and potential therapeutic options. There is no standardized algorithm to guide the workup and diagnosis of suspected RuV granulomas. We highlight the importance of contributing RuV granuloma cases to ongoing Centers for Disease Control and Prevention surveillance efforts to monitor wild type and vaccine-derived RuV transmission. Studies advancing our understanding of RuV granulomas may provide insights into the role of viral infectious agents in granulomatous disease pathogenesis and guide the development of improved therapeutic options.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Isothiazolinones are a common cause of allergic contact dermatitis. OBJECTIVE: To examine the prevalence of positive patch test reactions to isothiazolinones from 2017-2020 and characterize isothiazolinone-allergic (Is+) patients compared with isothiazolinone nonallergic (Is-) patients. METHODS: Retrospective cross-sectional analysis of 9028 patients patch tested to methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCI)/methylisothiazolinone (MI) 0.02% aqueous, MI 0.2% aqueous, benzisothiazolinone (BIT) 0.1% petrolatum, and/or octylisothiazolinone (OIT) 0.025% petrolatum. Prevalence, reaction strength, concurrent reactions, clinical relevance, and source of allergens were tabulated. RESULTS: In total, 21.9% (1976/9028) of patients had a positive reaction to 1 or more isothiazolinones. Positivity to MI was 14.4% (1296/9012), MCI/MI was 10.0% (903/9017), BIT was 8.6% (777/9018), and OIT was 05% (49/9028). Compared with Is-, Is+ patients were more likely to have occupational skin disease (16.5% vs 10.3%, P <.001), primary hand dermatitis (30.2% vs 19.7%, P <.001), and be >40 years (73.1% vs 61.9%, P <.001). Positive patch test reactions to >1 isothiazolinone occurred in 44.1% (871/1976) of Is+ patients. Testing solely to MCI/MI would miss 47.3% (611/1292) of MI and 60.1% (466/776) of BIT allergic reactions. LIMITATIONS: Retrospective cross-sectional study design and lack of follow-up data. CONCLUSION: Sensitization to isothiazolinones is high and concurrent sensitization to multiple isothiazolinone allergens is common.

RESUMEN

Mucocutaneous eruptions are associated with numerous infectious processes and can present as erythema multiforme (EM), reactive infectious mucocutaneous eruption (RIME), Stevens Johnson syndrome (SJS), or toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN). Limited reports have detailed the association of these eruptions with SARS-CoV-2 infection. We present a series of eight cases of severe mucocutaneous blistering eruptions associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection. A retrospective case series was performed at six tertiary medical centers from March 1, 2020 to August 1, 2022. Inclusion criteria were met with a clinical diagnosis of EM, RIME, SJS, or TEN and a positive SARS-CoV-2 test (rapid antigen or polymerase chain reaction) less than 4 weeks prior to onset of dermatologic manifestation. Data was collected at time of each patient encounter. Eight patients met criteria with six pediatric patients (<18 years of age) having a median age of 15 years and two adult patients (>18 years of age) having a median age of 36 years. Patients were found to have a clinical diagnosis of RIME in 85.7% of cases. Oral mucosal involvement was the most common clinical finding (100%), followed by ocular (50.0%), urogenital (50.0%), and skin (37.5%) involvement. Evaluation did not reveal any additional infectious triggers in four patients. Evidence of possible concurrent or previous infectious triggers were identified in four patients. This case series highlights the development of severe mucocutaneous eruptions in association with COVID-19 infection, as well as the potential contributing role of concurrent or prior infections.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Reduction mammoplasty (RM) is an important procedure in the management of symptomatic greater breast hypertrophy with or without early-stage breast cancer. We aim to introduce a new procedure: the three-pedicle reduction mammaplasty technique. METHODS: A prospectively maintained database was reviewed, and two prospectively registered clinical studies were included of all breast hypertrophy patients with or without breast cancer who underwent three-pedicle RM with inverted T incision at West China Hospital or the Fourth People's Hospital of Sichuan Province from 2018 to 2022. Patient demographics, patient-reported cosmetic results, quality of life (QoL), surgical outcomes and complications were assessed. RESULTS: During a median period of 22.5 months, 101 reduction mammaplasties were performed (Mage= 35.80; MBMI= 27.05). Mean reduction weight was 880.9 g ranging from 423-1630 g per breast. The nipple-to-sternal notch distance (N-SN) at post-operation was significantly shorter than preoperatively (left, 34.51 cm; right, 34.69 cm). Major complications and minor complications were 1.9% (1/52 patients) and 13.5% (7/52 patients), respectively. Multivariate logistic regression analyses showed that BMI > 30 was independent risk factors for a complication. Except for sexual and physical well-being at 1-month post-operation, patients gave a higher score on the BREAST-Q (breast satisfaction, physical well-being, psychosocial well-being) after the operation than before the operation (P<0.001). CONCLUSIONS: The three-pedicle RM technique was demonstrated to be an effective and safe RM procedure for moderate to severe breast hypertrophy patients with or without breast cancer, with the advantages of removing the lesions, reducing hypertrophic breasts and accomplishing mammoplasty. RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: In angiosperms, phenotypic variation of floral organs is often considered as the traditional basis for the evolutionary relationship of different taxonomic groups above the species level. However, little is known about that at or below the species level. Here, we experimentally tested the phenotypic variation of Malus floral organs using combined methods of intraspecific uniformity test, interspecific distinctness analysis, principal component analysis, Pearson correlation analysis, and Q-type cluster analysis. The ancestor-inclined distribution characteristic analysis of Malus species and cultivars floral attributes was also carried out, so as to explore its taxonomic significance. RESULTS: 15/44 phenotypic traits (e.g., flower shape, flower type, flower diameter, ...) were highly consistent, distinguishable, and independent and could be used as the basis for Malus germplasm taxonomy. The studied 142 taxa were divided into two groups (A, B) and five sub-groups (A1, A2, B1, B2, B3), with significantly variable floral phenotypic attributes between groups and within sub-groups. Malus natural species were relatively clustered in the same section (series) while homologous cultivars showed evidence of ancestor-inclined distribution characteristics. However, no significant correlation between the evolutionary order of sections (Sect. Docyniopsis → Sect. Chloromeles → Sect. Sorbomalus → Sect. Eumalus) and group/sub-groups (B3 → B2 → B1 → A). CONCLUSIONS: Phenotypic variation of floral organs could better explore the genetic relationship between Malus taxa. The findings improved our cognition of floral phenotypic variation taxonomic significance under the species level.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Although the association between tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) G-308A (rs1800629) polymorphism and chronic periodontitis (CP), chronic periodontitis with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DP) is assumed, results of this association have been contradictory. The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between rs1800629 polymorphism and CP/DP susceptibility. METHODS: We searched for studies on PubMed, Web of Science, MEDLINE, Chinese National Infrastructure, and WanFang databases. Study selection was performed using specific inclusion and exclusion criteria and fulfilled the PECO (participant, exposure, comparison, and outcome) format. The relationship between rs1800629 polymorphism and CP/DP susceptibility was evaluated by the effect summary odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Allele, dominant, and recessive genetic models were computed to assess the strength of the association. RESULTS: A total of 25 case-control studies were included in the analysis. In the Asian population, TNF-α rs1800629 polymorphism was found to be significantly associated with CP in the overall analyses and for all genetic contrasts, while no significant risks were found among Caucasian populations for all genetic contrasts. The TNF-α rs1800629 polymorphism was also associated with increased DP risk in Asians under the fixed-effects model, but not in the recessive comparison. CONCLUSION: The meta-analysis suggested that TNF-α rs1800629 polymorphism might affect the risk of CP and DP, particularly in individuals of Asian descent.

RESUMEN

Eight novel pyridyl-oxazole carboxamides were evaluated against fungi and displayed good fungicidal activities against Botrytis cinereal and Rhizoctonia solani. Preliminary bioassay results indicated that at 100 mg/L, compounds 6a-6e, 6g and 6h exhibited 100% fungicidal activities against Botrytis cinerea, and the compound 6b to Rhizoctonia solani at 100%. Then, the zebrafish embryo acute toxicity test was performed to assess the toxicity of 6b and 6c. A series of malformations appeared, when the zebrafish embryos were exposed to 6b and 6c, such as delayed yolk sac resorption, significant shortening of body length, pericardial edema, bending spine, lack of melanin, heart hemorrhage, head hemorrhage, delayed swim sac development, yolk malformation and head malformation. In addition, the acute toxicity of 6b to zebrafish embryo is 4.878 mg/L, and 6c is 6.257 mg/L.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Phenotypic diversity of floral organs plays an important role in plant systematic taxonomy and genetic variation studies. Previous research have focused on the direction of variation but disregarded its degree. Phenotypic variation (including directions and degrees) of 17 floral traits from wild to cultivated crabapples were explored by comparing their distributions and deviations in three different dimensions: floral organ number, size, and the shape. RESULTS: Except for petal number, petal length / petal width, and sepal length / sepal width, the analyzed floral traits of cultivated crabapples all showed downward distributed box bodies in box plot analysis and left deviations of fitted curves in frequency distribution function analysis when compared to the wild, which revealed consistent variation directions of petaloid conversion (pistils or stamens → petals), size miniaturization (large → small), and shape narrowness (petal shape: circular → elliptic; sepal shape: triangular → lanceolate). However, only seven floral traits exhibited significant differences in box plot analysis, while all of the traits in frequency distribution function analysis were obviously offset. The variation degrees were quantitatively characterized by sizing traits > shaping traits > numbering traits and by horizontal dimensions > radial dimensions. CONCLUSIONS: Frequency distribution function analysis was more sensitive than the box plot analysis, which constructed a theoretical basis for Malus flower type breeding and would provide a new quantitative method for future evaluation of floral variation among different groups of angiosperms at large.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Osteochondral defects mostly occur as a result of trauma or articular degeneration. The poor regenerative ability of articular cartilage remains osteochondral defects are a tricky problem to deal with. The modern treatment strategies mainly focus on cartilage tissue engineering with bioactive materials. In this study, we aimed to develop icariin conditioned serum (ICS) together with hyaluronic acid (HA) and determine their ability in reparing osteochondral tissue in a critical-sized defect in rabbit knees. METHODS: Primary chondrocytes were incubated with serum conditioned with icariin at different concentrations, then cell proliferation rates and glycosaminoglycan (GAG) secretion were detected. Rabbits were treated with intra-articular injection of 0.5 mL normal saline (NS), ICS, HA and ICS + HA in the right knee joint, respectively. ICRS scores were used to assess the macroscopic cartilage regeneration. Histological and immunohistochemical analysis including H&E, Safranin O, toluidine blue and collagen II staining were used to determine the repair of cartilage and the regeneration of chondrocytes. RESULTS: Icariin at a low dose of 0.94 g/kg was identified to have significantly promoted the proliferation of chondrocytes and enhance the secretion of GAG. Femoral condyle from rabbits treated by ICS together with HA was observed to be integrated with native cartilage and more subchondral bone regeneration. ICS together with HA could promote repair of the cartilage defect and increase the neoformation of cartilage. CONCLUSIONS: These results demonstrated the potential of ICS combined with HA to promote reparative response in cartilage defects and the possible application in bioactive material based cartilage regeneration therapies.

RESUMEN

Flowering crabapple is an important ornamental flower. It is vital to understand the floral scent properties and the associated release dynamics for carrying out fragrant flower breeding or floral regulation of crabapple. Static headspace solid-phase microextraction coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry was used to detect the volatile compounds in Malus ioensis "Prairie Rose" flowers at different flowering stages and at different day-night time. The results showed that methylheptenone, phenylethanol, geranylacetone, 2-(4-methoxyphenyl)ethanol, α-cedrene were the major compounds in M. ioensis "Prairie Rose", but the compounds released during different stages and different day-night time were significantly different (P < 0.0001). A total of 25 volatile compounds were identified from the four flowering stages. The floral scents in the initial and flowering stages were the most similar (dissimilarity 0.21). The main compounds in these two stages were geranylacetone and methylheptenone, and the contents of geranylacetone and phenylethanol were positively correlated with the flowering stages. From the bud stage to the end of flowering, the total amount of volatile compounds released showed an initial increase followed by a decrease and the amounts of compounds released during the initial flowering stage were the highest. The aliphatic and benzenoids content was significant higher in the daytime than at night. A total of 15 compounds were detected in the five time periods. Methylheptenone and phenylethanol were particularly released in the 10:00-12:00 and 15:00-17:00 time periods. There were only three common compounds among the five time periods and the types of flower volatiles released during the daytime were obviously higher than those released at night. From the nocturnal to diurnal, the amount of flower volatiles released first increased, then decreased, and the release reached a peak between 10 am and 12 noon, which was consistent with the pollination biological characteristics of Malus flowers. Our findings are important for understanding the mechanism of insect visits to crabapple and the regulation of crabapple flower scent.

RESUMEN

Floral scent is important in plant reproduction and also has aesthetic implications. However, the accurate determination of aroma is presently limited by the available collection and analysis tools. In this study, the floral scents of four crabapple taxa exhibiting faint, weak, clear, and strong scent intensities were comparatively analyzed by electronic nose (E-nose) and gas chromatography⁻mass spectrometry (GC⁻MS). The E-nose was able to effectively group the different taxa in the principal component analysis in correspondence with scent intensity. GC⁻MS analysis identified a total of 60 volatile compounds. The content of nitrogen-containing compounds and aliphatics and the number of unique components of the more aromatic taxa was significantly higher than the less aromatic taxa. α-Cedrene, ß-cedrene, 5-methyl-1,3-dihydro-2H-benzimidazol-2-one, benzyl alcohol, linalool, and 4-pyrrolidinopyridine contributed significantly to taxon separation. The pattern recognition results confirmed that the E-nose results corroborated the GC⁻MS results. Furthermore, partial least squares regression analysis between the aromatic constituents and sensors indicated that particular sensors were highly sensitive to N-containing compounds, aliphatics, and terpenes. In conclusion, the E-nose is capable of discriminating crabapple taxa of different scent intensities in both a qualitative and quantitative respect, presenting a rapid and accurate reference approach for future applications.

RESUMEN

Telogen effluvium (TE) is a common mechanism underlying medication-related alopecia. The inciting cause of TE may be difficult to identify due to delays in clinically apparent hair loss. Because medication-induced TE is a nonscarring alopecia that typically is reversible, appropriate management requires identification of the underlying trigger and cessation of potential culprit medications. In part 2 of this 2-part series on medication-induced TE, we focus on anticoagulant and antihypertensive medications.

RESUMEN

Purpose: We conducted a multicenter cross-sectional study in central and western China to explore the association between inflammatory diet and stomach cancer odds. Patients and Methods: Participants from five hospitals in the central and western regions were collected. All participants completed the questionnaire we provided before the gastroscopy examination, which includes inquiries about risk factors for stomach cancer and food frequency. All participants underwent gastroscopy, and a mucosal biopsy was confirmed pathologically. Pathological findings were classified as chronic gastritis group, precancerous lesions group and stomach cancer group. Dietary Inflammatory Index (DII) scores were calculated based on the frequency of food occurrences in the questionnaire, and finally SPSS was used to calculate the correlation between variables. Results: A total of 1162 patients were included in this study, including 668 cases of chronic gastritis, 411 cases of precancerous lesions, and 83 cases of cancer. A single factor analysis was conducted to examine the risk factors of stomach cancer, revealing a significant association between a pro-inflammatory diet and the stomach cancer odds (p value < 0.05). The results of binary classification analysis further confirmed that a pro-inflammatory diet is a risk factor for stomach cancer 【odds ratio (OR) =7.400)】. Moreover, correlation analysis demonstrated a positive correlation between the severity of gastric mucosal diseases and an inflammatory diet (including anti-inflammatory and pro-inflammatory diets) (rs=0.274, p-value < 0.001). Conclusion: Pro-Inflammatory diet is a risk factor for stomach cancer, and may accelerate the progression of stomach mucosal disease.

RESUMEN

Objective: To explore the surgical technique and preliminary safety and aesthetic results of endoscopic removal of injectable Amazingel with/without immediate prepectoral implant-based breast augmentation for patients. Methods: The clinical data of 25 patients who underwent endoscopic removal of injectable Amazingel with/without immediate prepectoral implant-based breast augmentation between April 2020 and January 2024 and met the selection criteria was retrospective analysed. The patients' age ranged from 33 to 73 years, with a mean of 50.4 years, and the body mass index ranged from 16.8 to 26.6 kg/m 2, with a mean of 21.5 kg/m 2. They were all bilaterally injected with Amazingel, and the time between initial injections and surgery ranged from 17 to 26 years, with a mean of 21.4 years. Early safety was evaluated by the incidence of early postoperative complications, and early aesthetic results were evaluated using Harris scores (including breast shape satisfaction, sensation satisfaction, and elasticity satisfaction) at 3 months after operation. Results: There were 9 cases underwent Amazingel removal (group A) and 16 cases underwent Amazingel removal with immediate prepectoral implant-based breast augmentation (group B). Intraoperative removal of Amazingel ranged from 808 to 1 285 mL, with a mean of 1 050.7 mL; the mass of the capsule removed ranged from 36 to 169 g, with a mean of 103.6 g; and a gross anatomical prosthesis was used with a median size of 345 mL (range, 315-355 mL). The operation time ranged from 95 to 395 minutes, with a mean of 194.2 minutes; and the cost of the procedure ranged from 8000to 91 000 yuan, with a mean of 33 000 yuan. Patients had a median follow-up time of 22.7 months (range, 3.0-48.1 months). There was 1 case of intraoperative skin burn due to the operation of the electric scalpel, which healed naturally after operation without flap necrosis. There was no adverse conditions such as prosthesis outline showing, ripple sign, and capsular contracture during follow-up; a small amount of Amazingel residue was found in 2 patients at 1 year after operation. The Harris score at 3 months after operation was used to evaluate the early aesthetic results, and the breast shape, elasticity, and sensation satisfaction of group A were lower than group B, but the differences between the two groups were not significant ( P>0.05). Conclusion: Endoscopic removal of injectable Amazingel with/without immediate prepectoral implant-based breast augmentation is safe in the early stage with good aesthetic results, and it is also recommended that patients who had the indications for combined immediate breast augmentation after removal to rebuild the breast appearance.

RESUMEN

Ilex × attenuata 'Sunny Foster' represents a yellow leaf mutant originating from I. × attenuata 'Foster#2', a popular ornamental woody cultivar. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying this leaf color mutation remain unclear. Using a comprehensive approach encompassing cytological, physiological, and transcriptomic methodologies, notable distinctions were discerned between the mutant specimen and its wild type. The mutant phenotype displayed aberrant chloroplast morphology, diminished chlorophyll content, heightened carotenoid/chlorophyll ratios, and a decelerated rate of plant development. Transcriptome analysis identified differentially expressed genes (DEGs) related to chlorophyll metabolism, carotenoid biosynthesis and photosynthesis. The up-regulation of CHLD and CHLI subunits leads to decreased magnesium chelatase activity, while the up-regulation of COX10 increases heme biosynthesis-both impair chlorophyll synthesis. Conversely, the down-regulation of HEMD hindered chlorophyll synthesis, and the up-regulation of SGR enhanced chlorophyll degradation, resulting in reduced chlorophyll content. Additionally, genes linked to carotenoid biosynthesis, flavonoid metabolism, and photosynthesis were significantly down-regulated. We also identified 311 putative differentially expressed transcription factors, including bHLHs and GLKs. These findings shed light on the molecular mechanisms underlying leaf color mutation in I. × attenuata 'Sunny Foster' and provide a substantial gene reservoir for enhancing leaf color through breeding techniques.

RESUMEN

Granuloma annulare (GA) is an idiopathic condition characterized by granulomatous inflammation in the skin. Prior studies have suggested that GA develops from various triggers, leading to a complex interplay involving innate and adaptive immunity, tissue remodeling, and fibrosis. Macrophages are the major immune cells comprising GA granulomas; however, the molecular drivers and inflammatory signaling cascade behind macrophage activation are poorly understood. Histologically, GA exhibits both palisaded and interstitial patterns on histology; however, the molecular composition of GA at the spatial level remains unexplored. GA is a condition without Food and Drug Administration-approved therapies despite the significant impact of GA on QOL. Spatial transcriptomics is a valuable tool for profiling localized, genome-wide gene expression changes across tissues, with emerging applications in clinical medicine. To improve our understanding of the spatially localized gene expression patterns underlying GA, we profiled the spatial gene expression landscape from 6 patients with GA. Our findings revealed mixed T helper 1 and T helper 2 signals comprising the GA microenvironment and spatially distinct M1 and M2 macrophage polarization characteristics. IFN-γ and TNF signals emerged as important regulators of GA granulomatous inflammation, and IL-32 emerged as a key driver of granulomatous inflammation. Overall, our spatial transcriptomics data indicate that GA exhibits mixed immune and macrophage polarization.

RESUMEN

Peristomal pyoderma gangrenosum is an uncommon subtype of pyoderma gangrenosum mainly affecting stoma sites of patients with inflammatory bowel disease. While surgical treatments are often used to assist healing, little is known about the relationship between surgical interventions and the rate of recurrence of peristomal pyoderma gangrenosum. The aim of this study was to identify patient and clinical factors associated with peristomal pyoderma gangrenosum recurrence following surgical intervention. A multi-institutional retrospective case series and literature review was conducted to evaluate patient characteristics and perioperative treatment. Patients of any age with peristomal pyoderma gangrenosum undergoing surgical operations related to their pyoderma gangrenosum or due to another comorbidity were included. Descriptive statistics were used to characterize demographic information. Associations were evaluated using Wilcoxon's rank-sum test for continuous variables and Fisher's exact test for categorical data. Thirty-seven cases were included, 78.3% of which had a history of inflammatory bowel disease. Overall, 13 (35.1%) cases experienced recurrence at 30 days. There was no significant association identified between patient demographics, stoma location, surgical intervention, or perioperative treatment with rate of recurrence at 30 days post-operation. While no clinical risk factors or treatments were associated with recurrence, our work underscores the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to this disease to address gastrointestinal, dermatologic, and surgical components of treatment.

RESUMEN

Thirty-eight pregnant inpatients with acute pancreatitis (AP) were retrospectively reviewed from 2006 to 2012 in our hospital. The incidence of pregnancy-associated AP was 2.27‰. Most (78.95%) of the attack occurred in the third trimester. The median of APACHE II score was 6 and severe AP accounted for 31.58% (12 cases). Primary diseases were absent in most cases (57.89%). The most common clinical presentations were abdominal pain (89.47%) and vomiting (68.42%). Pleural effusion and ascites were found only in the third trimester. Elevated white blood cell count, amylase and lipase were commonly found in biochemical examinations. Eleven cases required intensive care in ICU and 21 cases received caesarean section. There were 2 maternal deaths and 12 fetal losses including 4 abortions. It is concluded that AP is a rare entity in pregnancy. The incidence of pancreatitis increases with the gestational age. However, the severity is not necessarily related with the pregnancy trimesters. The diagnosis is based on clinical presentations, laboratory tests and imaging examinations. Although the treatment strategy of a pregnant woman with pancreatitis is similar to the general non-pregnant patient with AP, a multidisciplinary team consisting of gastroenterologist, gastrointestinal surgeon, radiologist, obstetrician, and ICU doctor should be set up.

RESUMEN

Hf0.5Zr0.5O2-based multi-level cell (MLC) ferroelectric random-access memory (FeRAM) has great potential for high-density storage applications. However, it is usually limited by the issues of a small operation margin and a large input offset. The study of circuit design and optimization for MLC FeRAM is necessary to solve these problems. In this work, we propose and simulate a configuration for a Hf0.5Zr0.5O2-based 3TnC MLC FeRAM macro circuit, which also presents a high area efficiency of 12F2 for each bit. Eight polarization states can be distinguished in a single fabricated Hf0.5Zr0.5O2-based memory device for potential MLC application, which is also simulated by a SPICE model for the subsequent circuit design. Therein, a nondestructive readout approach is adopted to expand the reading margin to 450 mV between adjacent storage levels, while a capacitorless offset-canceled sense amplifier (SA) is designed to reduce the offset voltage to 20 mV, which improves the readout reliability of multi-level states. Finally, a 4 Mb MLC FeRAM macro is simulated and verified using a GSMC 130 nm CMOS process. This study provides the foundation of circuit design for the practical fabrication of a Hf0.5Zr0.5O2-based MLC FeRAM chip in the future, which also suggests its potential for high-density storage applications.
