RESUMEN
A generic level of chromatin organization generated by the interplay between cohesin and CTCF suffices to limit promiscuous interactions between regulatory elements, but a lineage-specific chromatin assembly that supersedes these constraints is required to configure the genome to guide gene expression changes that drive faithful lineage progression. Loss-of-function approaches in B cell precursors show that IKAROS assembles interactions across megabase distances in preparation for lymphoid development. Interactions emanating from IKAROS-bound enhancers override CTCF-imposed boundaries to assemble lineage-specific regulatory units built on a backbone of smaller invariant topological domains. Gain of function in epithelial cells confirms IKAROS' ability to reconfigure chromatin architecture at multiple scales. Although the compaction of the Igκ locus required for genome editing represents a function of IKAROS unique to lymphocytes, the more general function to preconfigure the genome to support lineage-specific gene expression and suppress activation of extra-lineage genes provides a paradigm for lineage restriction.

Coordinated induction, but also repression, of genes are key to normal differentiation. Although the role of lineage-specific transcription regulators has been studied extensively, their functional integration with chromatin remodelers, one of the key enzymatic machineries that control chromatin accessibility, remains ill-defined. Here we investigate the role of Mi-2ß, a SNF-2-like nucleosome remodeler and key component of the nucleosome remodeling and histone deacetylase (NuRD) complex in early B cells. Inactivation of Mi-2ß arrested differentiation at the large pre-B-cell stage and caused derepression of cell adhesion and cell migration signaling factors by increasing chromatin access at poised enhancers and chromosome architectural elements. Mi-2ß also supported IL-7R signaling, survival, and proliferation by repressing negative effectors of this pathway. Importantly, overexpression of Bcl2, a mitochondrial prosurvival gene and target of IL-7R signaling, partly rescued the differentiation block caused by Mi-2ß loss. Mi-2ß stably associated with chromatin sites that harbor binding motifs for IKAROS and EBF1 and physically associated with these transcription factors both on and off chromatin. Notably, Mi-2ß shared loss-of-function cellular and molecular phenotypes with IKAROS and EBF1, albeit in a distinct fashion. Thus, the nucleosome remodeler Mi-2ß promotes pre-B-cell differentiation by providing repression capabilities to distinct lineage-specific transcription factor-based regulatory networks.

The production of large single-crystal metal foils with various facet indices has long been a pursuit in materials science owing to their potential applications in crystal epitaxy, catalysis, electronics and thermal engineering1-5. For a given metal, there are only three sets of low-index facets ({100}, {110} and {111}). In comparison, high-index facets are in principle infinite and could afford richer surface structures and properties. However, the controlled preparation of single-crystal foils with high-index facets is challenging, because they are neither thermodynamically6,7 nor kinetically3 favourable compared to low-index facets6-18. Here we report a seeded growth technique for building a library of single-crystal copper foils with sizes of about 30 × 20 square centimetres and more than 30 kinds of facet. A mild pre-oxidation of polycrystalline copper foils, followed by annealing in a reducing atmosphere, leads to the growth of high-index copper facets that cover almost the entire foil and have the potential of growing to lengths of several metres. The creation of oxide surface layers on our foils means that surface energy minimization is not a key determinant of facet selection for growth, as is usually the case. Instead, facet selection is dictated randomly by the facet of the largest grain (irrespective of its surface energy), which consumes smaller grains and eliminates grain boundaries. Our high-index foils can be used as seeds for the growth of other Cu foils along either the in-plane or the out-of-plane direction. We show that this technique is also applicable to the growth of high-index single-crystal nickel foils, and we explore the possibility of using our high-index copper foils as substrates for the epitaxial growth of two-dimensional materials. Other applications are expected in selective catalysis, low-impedance electrical conduction and heat dissipation.
RESUMEN
Metallic nickel (Ni) is a promising candidate to substitute Pt-based catalysts for hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR), but huge challenges still exist in precise modulation of the electronic structure to boost the electrocatalytic performances. Herein, we present the use of single-layer Ti3C2Tx MXene to deliberately tailor the electronic structure of Ni nanoparticles via interfacial oxygen bridges, which affords Ni/Ti3C2Tx electrocatalyst with exceptional performances for HOR in an alkaline medium. Remarkably, it shows a high kinetic current of 16.39 mA cmdisk-2 at the overpotential of 50 mV for HOR [78 and 2.7 times higher than that of metallic Ni and Pt/C (20%), respectively], also with good durability and CO antipoisoning ability (1,000 ppm) that are not available for conventional Pt/C (20%) catalyst. The ultrahigh conductivity of single-layer Ti3C2Tx provides fast transmission of electrons for Ni nanoparticles, of which the uniform and small sizes endow them with high-density active sites. Further, the terminated -O/-OH functional groups on Ti3C2Tx directionally capture electrons from Ni nanoparticles via interfacial Ni-O bridges, leading to obvious electronic polarization. This could enhance the Nids-O2p interaction and weaken Nids-H1s interaction of Ni sites in Ni/Ti3C2Txenabling a suitable H-/OH-binding energy and thus enhancing the HOR activity.

In seeding plants, biosynthesis of the phytohormone ethylene, which regulates processes including fruit ripening and senescence, is catalyzed by 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) oxidase. The plant pathogen Pseudomonas savastanoi (previously classified as: Pseudomonas syringae) employs a different type of ethylene-forming enzyme (psEFE), though from the same structural superfamily as ACC oxidase, to catalyze ethylene formation from 2-oxoglutarate (2OG) in an arginine dependent manner. psEFE also catalyzes the more typical oxidation of arginine to give L-Δ1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate (P5C), a reaction coupled to oxidative decarboxylation of 2OG giving succinate and CO2. We report on the effects of C3 and/or C4 substituted 2OG derivatives on the reaction modes of psEFE. 1H NMR assays, including using the pure shift method, reveal that, within our limits of detection, none of the tested 2OG derivatives is converted to an alkene; some are converted to the corresponding ß-hydroxypropionate or succinate derivatives, with only the latter being coupled to arginine oxidation. The NMR results reveal that the nature of 2OG derivatization can affect the outcome of the bifurcating reaction, with some 2OG derivatives exclusively favoring the arginine oxidation pathway. Given that some of the tested 2OG derivatives are natural products, the results are of potential biological relevance. There are also opportunities for therapeutic or biocatalytic regulation of the outcomes of reactions catalyzed by 2OG-dependent oxygenases by the use of 2OG derivatives.

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a frequent malignancy of the urinary system with high mortality and morbidity. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying RCC progression are still largely unknown. In this study, we identified FOXA2, a pioneer transcription factor, as a driver oncogene for RCC. We show that FOXA2 was commonly upregulated in human RCC samples and promoted RCC proliferation, as evidenced by assays of cell viability, colony formation, migratory and invasive capabilities, and stemness properties. Mechanistically, we found that FOXA2 promoted RCC cell proliferation by transcriptionally activating HIF2α expression in vitro and in vivo. Furthermore, we found that FOXA2 could interact with VHL (von HippelâLindau), which ubiquitinated FOXA2 and controlled its protein stability in RCC cells. We showed that mutation of lysine at position 264 to arginine in FOXA2 could mostly abrogate its ubiquitination, augment its activation effect on HIF2α expression, and promote RCC proliferation in vitro and RCC progression in vivo. Importantly, elevated expression of FOXA2 in patients with RCC positively correlated with the expression of HIF2α and was associated with shorter overall and disease-free survival. Together, these findings reveal a novel role of FOXA2 in RCC development and provide insights into the underlying molecular mechanisms of FOXA2-driven pathological processes in RCC.

Flowering is an indicator of plant transformation from vegetative to reproductive growth. miR160 has been shown to have a significant effect on the growth and development of fruits, leaves, and roots of plants or their stress response to environment, but the participation of miR160 in regulating flowering time in plants is unclear. In this study, we found that two FvemiR160s (FvemiR160a/FvemiR160b) mature sequences in strawberry (Fragaria vesca) were consistent. It was displayed that the miR160 mature sequence is highly conserved in various species, and the miR160 mature sequence formed by the 5' arm of the MIR160 precursor was more conserved. Three FveARFs in woodland strawberry were negatively regulated by FvemiR160a, among which FveARF18A was the most significant. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that FvemiR160 is closely related to apple (Malus domestica), grape (Vitis vinifera), and Arabidopsis thaliana, while FveARF18A is closely related to RcARF18. Subsequently, we demonstrated that FvemiR160a can target cutting FveARF18A to negatively regulate its expression by RLM-5' RACE, cleavage site mutation, and GFP fluorescence assay. Moreover, we observed that FveMIR160a overexpressed plants have advanced flowering, while mFveARF18A overexpressed plants have delayed flowering. We also verified that FveARF18A negatively regulates the expression of FveAP1 and FveFUL by binding their promoters by yeast one-hybrid, LUC, and GUS assay, and FveAP1 and FveFUL transgenic Arabidopsis showed early flowering phenotype. In addition, the expression level of FvemiR160a was decreased obviously while that of FveARF18A was increased obviously by MeJA, GA and IAA. In conclusion, our study reveals the important role of the FvemiR160-FveARF18A-FveAP1/FveFUL module in the flowering process of woodland strawberry and provides a new pathway for studying flowering.

Abscisic acid (ABA) is involved in salt and drought stress responses, but the underlying molecular mechanism remains unclear. Here, we demonstrated that the overexpression of MdMYB44-like, an R2R3-MYB transcription factor, significantly increases the salt and drought tolerance of transgenic apples and Arabidopsis. MdMYB44-like inhibits the transcription of MdPP2CA, which encodes a type 2C protein phosphatase that acts as a negative regulator in the ABA response, thereby enhancing ABA signaling-mediated salt and drought tolerance. Furthermore, we found that MdMYB44-like and MdPYL8, an ABA receptor, form a protein complex that further enhances the transcriptional inhibition of the MdPP2CA promoter by MdMYB44-like. Significantly, we discovered that MdPP2CA can interfere with the physical association between MdMYB44-like and MdPYL8 in the presence of ABA, partially blocking the inhibitory effect of the MdMYB44-like-MdPYL8 complex on the MdPP2CA promoter. Thus, MdMYB44-like, MdPYL8, and MdPP2CA form a regulatory loop that tightly modulates ABA signaling homeostasis under salt and drought stress. Our data reveal that MdMYB44-like precisely modulates ABA-mediated salt and drought tolerance in apples through the MdPYL8-MdPP2CA module.

The development of two-dimensional (2D) materials has opened up possibilities for their application in electronics, optoelectronics and photovoltaics, because they can provide devices with smaller size, higher speed and additional functionalities compared with conventional silicon-based devices1. The ability to grow large, high-quality single crystals for 2D components-that is, conductors, semiconductors and insulators-is essential for the industrial application of 2D devices2-4. Atom-layered hexagonal boron nitride (hBN), with its excellent stability, flat surface and large bandgap, has been reported to be the best 2D insulator5-12. However, the size of 2D hBN single crystals is typically limited to less than one millimetre13-18, mainly because of difficulties in the growth of such crystals; these include excessive nucleation, which precludes growth from a single nucleus to large single crystals, and the threefold symmetry of the hBN lattice, which leads to antiparallel domains and twin boundaries on most substrates19. Here we report the epitaxial growth of a 100-square-centimetre single-crystal hBN monolayer on a low-symmetry Cu (110) vicinal surface, obtained by annealing an industrial copper foil. Structural characterizations and theoretical calculations indicate that epitaxial growth was achieved by the coupling of Cu <211> step edges with hBN zigzag edges, which breaks the equivalence of antiparallel hBN domains, enabling unidirectional domain alignment better than 99 per cent. The growth kinetics, unidirectional alignment and seamless stitching of the hBN domains are unambiguously demonstrated using centimetre- to atomic-scale characterization techniques. Our findings are expected to facilitate the wide application of 2D devices and lead to the epitaxial growth of broad non-centrosymmetric 2D materials, such as various transition-metal dichalcogenides20-23, to produce large single crystals.

A novel semiconductive Co/Fe-MOF embedded with Fe2 O3 nanocrystals (Fe2 O3 @CoFe-MOF) is developed as a trifunctional electrocatalyst for the urea oxidation reaction (UOR), oxygen evolution reaction (OER), and hydrogen evolution reaction for enhancing the efficiency of the hydrogen production via the urea-assisted overall water splitting. Fe2 O3 @CoFe-TPyP-MOF comprises unsaturated metal-nitrogen coordination sites, affording enriched defects, self-tuned d-band centers, and efficient π-π interaction between different layers. Density functional theory calculation confirms that the adsorption of urea can be optimized at Fe2 O3 @CoFe-TPyP-MOF, realizing the efficient adsorption of intermediates and desorption of the final product of CO2 and N2 characterized by the in situ Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The two-electrode urea-assisted water splitting device-assembled with Fe2 O3 @CoFe-TPyP-MOF illustrates a low cell voltage of 1.41 V versus the reversible hydrogen electrode at the current density of 10 mA cm-2 , attaining the hydrogen production rate of 13.13 µmol min-1 in 1 m KOH with 0.33 m urea. The in situ electrochemical Raman spectra and other basic characterizations of the used electrocatalyst uncover that Fe2 O3 @CoFe-TPyP-MOF undergoes the reversible structural reconstruction after the UOR test, while it demonstrates the irreversible reconstruction after the OER measurement. This work redounds the progress of urea-assisted water spitting for hydrogen production.

The production of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) via the two-electron electrochemical oxygen reduction reaction (2e- ORR) is an essential alteration in the current anthraquinone-based method. Herein, a single-atom CoâO4 electrocatalyst is embedded in a defective and porous graphene-like carbon layer (CoâO4@PC). The CoâO4@PC electrocatalyst shows promising potential in H2O2 electrosynthesis via 2e- ORR, providing a high H2O2 selectivity of 98.8% at 0.6 V and a low onset potential of 0.73 V for generating H2O2. In situ surface-sensitive attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectra and density functional theory calculations reveal that the electronic and geometric modification of CoâO4 induced by defective carbon sites result in decreased d-band center of Co atoms, providing the optimum adsorption energies of OOH* intermediate. The H-cell and flow cell assembled using CoâO4@PC as the cathode present long-term stability and high efficiency for H2O2 production. Particularly, a high H2O2 production rate of 0.25 mol g-1 cat h-1 at 0.6 V can be obtained by the flow cell. The in situ-generated H2O2 can promote the degradation of rhodamine B and sterilize Staphylococcus aureus via the Fenton process. This work can pave the way for the efficient production of H2O2 by using CoâO4 single atom electrocatalyst and unveil the electrocatalytic mechanism.

The microscopic visualization of large-scale three-dimensional (3D) samples by optical microscopy requires overcoming challenges in imaging quality and speed and in big data acquisition and management. We report a line-illumination modulation (LiMo) technique for imaging thick tissues with high throughput and low background. Combining LiMo with thin tissue sectioning, we further develop a high-definition fluorescent micro-optical sectioning tomography (HD-fMOST) method that features an average signal-to-noise ratio of 110, leading to substantial improvement in neuronal morphology reconstruction. We achieve a >30-fold lossless data compression at a voxel resolution of 0.32 × 0.32 × 1.00 µm3, enabling online data storage to a USB drive or in the cloud, and high-precision (95% accuracy) brain-wide 3D cell counting in real time. These results highlight the potential of HD-fMOST to facilitate large-scale acquisition and analysis of whole-brain high-resolution datasets.

This study aimed to explore the clinical significance of genomics features including tumor mutation burden (TMB) and copy number alteration (CNA) for advanced EGFR mutant lung cancer. We retrospectively identified 1378 patients with advanced EGFR mutant lung cancer and next-generation sequencing tests from three cohorts. Multiple co-occurring genomics alternations occurred in a large proportion (97%) of patients with advanced EGFR mutant lung cancers. Both TMB and CNA were predictive biomarkers for these patients. A joint analysis of TMB and CNA found that patients with high TMB and high CNA showed worse responses to EGFR-TKIs and predicted worse outcomes. TMBhighCNAhigh, as a high-risk genomic feature, showed predictive ability in most of the subgroups based on clinical characteristics. These patients had larger numbers of metastatic sites, and higher rates of EGFR copy number amplification, TP53 mutations, and cell-cycle gene alterations, which showed more potential survival gain from combination treatment. Furthermore, a nomogram based on genomic features and clinical features was developed to distinguish prognosis. Genomic features could stratify prognosis and guide clinical treatment for patients with advanced EGFR mutant lung cancer.

Cold stress has seriously inhibited the growth and development of strawberry during production. CBF/DREB1 is a key central transcription factor regulating plant cold tolerance, but its regulatory mechanisms are varied in different plants. Especially in strawberry, the molecular mechanism of CBF/DREB1 regulating cold tolerance is still unclear. In this study, we found that FveDREB1B was most significantly induced by cold stress in CBF/DREB1 family of diploid woodland strawberry. FveDREB1B was localized to the nucleus, and DREB1B sequences were highly conserved in diploid and octoploid strawberry, and even similar in Rosaceae. And FveDREB1B overexpressed strawberry plants showed delayed flowering and increased cold tolerance, while FveDREB1B silenced plants showed early flowering and decreased cold tolerance. Under cold stress, FveDREB1B activated FveSCL23 expression by directly binding to its promoter. Meanwhile, FveDREB1B and FveSCL23 interacted with FveDELLA, respectively. In addition, we also found that FveDREB1B promoted anthocyanin accumulation in strawberry leaves by directly activating FveCHS expression after cold treatment and recovery to 25°C. DREB1B genes were also detected to be highly expressed in cold-tolerant strawberry resources 'Fragaria mandschurica' and 'Fragaria nipponica'. In conclusion, our study reveals the molecular mechanism of FveDREB1B-FveSCL23-FveDELLA module and FveDREB1B-FveCHS module to enhance the cold tolerance of woodland strawberry. It provides a new idea for improving the cold tolerance of cultivated strawberry and evaluating the cold tolerance of strawberry germplasm resources.
RESUMEN
Laser speckle contrast imaging (LSCI) has gained significant attention in the biomedical field for its ability to map the spatio-temporal dynamics of blood perfusion in vivo. However, LSCI faces difficulties in accurately resolving blood perfusion in microvessels. Although the transmissive detecting geometry can improve the spatial resolution of tissue imaging, ballistic photons directly transmitting forward through tissue without scattering will cause misestimating in the flow speed by LSCI because of the lack of a quantitative theoretical model of transmissvie LSCI. Here, we develop a model of temporal LSCI which accounts for the effect of nonscattered light on estimating decorrelation time. Based on this model, we further propose a dual-exposure temporal laser speckle imaging method (dEtLSCI) to correct the overestimation of background speed when performing traditional transmissive LSCI, and reconstruct microvascular angiography using the scattered component extracted from total transmitted light. Experimental results demonstrated that our new method opens an opportunity for LSCI to simultaneously resolve the blood vessels morphology and blood flow speed at microvascular level in various contexts, ranging from the drug-induced vascular response to angiogenesis and the blood perfusion monitoring during tumor growth.

Microring cavities based on whispering-gallery modes (WGMs) have a very high-quality factor (Q) and a small mode volume, greatly improving the interaction between light and matter, which has attracted great attention in microlaser, nonlinear, and sensing fields. Plasmonics in the microcavity further enhance compression of the optical field. Recently, research on enhanced optical sensing sensitivity and low threshold laser based on exceptional points (EPs) is quite impressive. In this work, we propose a new, to our knowledge, all-optical switch by using the bistable effect under the EP of an ultra-compact plasmonic racetrack resonator and perform numerical simulations using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The introduction of EPs further enhances the localization of the light field and thus improves the Kerr nonlinear effect of the microcavity; low threshold optical bistability is achieved. The results show that the device under an EP has a relatively lower threshold (input optical power threshold of 2.2â MW/cm2), shorter switching time (1.725â ps), and significantly improved switching contrast (17.16â dB) compared with those without EP. Our research lays the groundwork for optical switches that are chip-integrated, have low power consumption, and exhibit short switching times.

In two-dimensional (2D) hyperbolic materials, energy is directed into their deep subwavelength polaritonic modes through four narrow beams. Hyperbolic whispering-gallery mode nanocavity-confined phonon polaritons (PhPs) display a strongly enhanced light-matter interaction in the infrared regime. Particularly, the unidirectional phonon-polarization excitation in nanocavities has a potential application value in an on-chip integrated optical circuit design, efficient optical sensors, and enhanced spectral technology. Here, we explore the hyperbolic whispering-gallery mode PhPs on the cross section of a hexagonal BN nanotube (BNNT) and demonstrate that efficient unidirectional excitation can be achieved using a circularly polarized electric dipole, combining with optical spin-orbit coupling. Our results demonstrated that the undirectionality of the hyperbolic polariton propagation in a nanocavity can be conveniently achieved, independent of the structure symmetry of the nanocavity, providing potential applications in nanoscale light propagation, on-chip optical devices, and communication.

Transcriptional Co-Activator with PDZ-Binding Motif (TAZ, also known as WWTR1) is a downstream effector of the Hippo pathway, involved in the regulation of organ regeneration and cell differentiation in processes such as development and regeneration. TAZ has been shown to play a tumor-promoting role in various cancers. Currently, many studies focus on the role of TAZ in the process of mitophagy. However, the molecular mechanism and biological function of TAZ in renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC) are still unclear. Therefore, we systematically analyzed the mRNA expression profile and clinical data of KIRC in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) dataset. We found that TAZ expression was significantly upregulated in KIRC compared with normal kidney tissue and was closely associated with poor prognosis of patients. Combined with the joint analysis of 36 mitophagy genes, it was found that TAZ was significantly negatively correlated with the positive regulators of mitophagy. Finally, our results confirmed that high expression of TAZ in KIRC inhibits mitophagy and promotes KIRC cell proliferation. In conclusion, our findings reveal the important role of TAZ in KIRC and have the potential to be a new target for KIRC therapy.

PURPOSE: Establishment of sister chromatid cohesion N-acetyltransferase 2 (ESCO2) is involved in the mitotic S-phase adhesins acetylation and is responsible for bridging two sister chromatids. However, present ESCO2 cancer research is limited to a few cancers. No systematic pan-cancer analysis has been conducted to investigate its role in diagnosis, prognosis, and effector function. METHODS: We thoroughly examined the ESCO2 carcinogenesis in pan-cancer by combining public databases such as The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), Genotype-Tissue Expression Project (GTEx), UALCAN and Tumor Immune Single-cell Hub (TISCH). The analysis includes differential expression analysis, survival analysis, cellular effector function, gene mutation, single cell analysis, and tumor immune cell infiltration. Furthermore, we confirmed ESCO2's impacts on clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) cells' proliferative and invasive capacities in vitro. RESULTS: In our study, 30 of 33 cancer types exhibited considerably greater levels of ESCO2 expression in tumor tissue using TCGA and GTEx databases, whereas acute myeloid leukemia (LAML) exhibited significantly lower levels. Kaplan-Meier survival analyses in adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC), kidney chromophobe (KICH), kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), kidney renal papillary cell carcinoma (KIRP), brain lower grade glioma (LGG), liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC), lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), mesothelioma (MESO), and pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAAD) demonstrated that tumor patients with high ESCO2 expression have short survival periods. However, in thymoma (THYM), colon adenocarcinoma (COAD) and rectum adenocarcinoma (READ), ESCO2 was a favorable prognostic factor. Moreover, ESCO2 expression positively correlates with tumor stage and tumor size in several cancers, including LIHC, KIRC, KIRP and LUAD. Function analysis revealed that ESCO2 participates in mitosis, cell cycle, DNA damage repair, and other processes. CDK1 was identified as a downstream gene regulated by ESCO2. Furthermore, ESCO2 might also be implicated in immune cell infiltration. Finally, ESCO2'S knockdown significantly inhibited the A498 and T24 cells' proliferation, invasion, and migration. CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, ESCO2 is a possible pan-cancer biomarker and oncogene that can reliably predict the prognosis of cancer patients. ESCO2 was also implicated in the cell cycle and proliferation regulation. In a nutshell, ESCO2 is a therapeutically viable and dependable target.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to translate and culturally adapt the standardized outcomes in nephrology-hemodialysis fatigue (SONG-HD fatigue) scale and to assess the psychometric properties of the Chinese version of the SONG-HD fatigue (C-SONG-HD fatigue) scale. METHODS: Forward and back translations were used to translate the SONG-HD fatigue scale into Chinese. We used the C-SONG-HD fatigue scale to survey Chinese patients undergoing hemodialysis (HD) in China. We examined the distribution of responses and floor and ceiling effects. Cronbach's alpha and McDonald's omega coefficient, intraclass coefficients, and Spearman correlations were used to assess internal consistency reliability, test-retest reliability, and convergent validity, respectively. Responsiveness was also evaluated. RESULTS: In total, 489 participants across southeast China, northwest China, and central China completed the study. The C-SONG-HD fatigue scale had good internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha coefficient 0.861, omega coefficient 0.916), test-retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient 0.695), and convergent validity (Spearman correlation 0.691). The analysis of all first-time HD patients did not show notable responsiveness, and only patients with temporary vascular access had good responsiveness with an effect size (ES) of 0.54, a standardized response mean (SRM) of 0.85, and a standard error of measurement (SEM) of 0.77. CONCLUSION: The Chinese version of the SONG-HD fatigue scale showed satisfactory reliability and validity in patients undergoing hemodialysis (HD) in China. It could be used as a tool to measure the fatigue of Chinese HD patients.
