RESUMEN

Surface urban heat islands (SUHIs) are essential for evaluating urban thermal environments. However, current quantitative studies of SUHIs ignore the thermal radiation directionality (TRD), which directly affects study precision; furthermore, they fail to assess the effects of TRD characteristics at different land-use intensities, on the quantitative studies of SUHIs. To bridge this research gap, this study eliminates the interference of atmospheric attenuation and daily temperature variation factors, in quantifying the TRD based on land surface temperature (LST), from MODIS data and station air temperature data for Hefei (China) from 2010-2020. The influence of TRD on SUHI intensity quantification was evaluated by comparing the TRD under different land-use intensities in Hefei. The results show that: (1) daytime and nighttime directionality can reach up to 4.7 K and 2.6 K, and occur in areas with the highest and medium urban land-use intensity, respectively. (2) There are two significant TRD hotspots for daytime urban surfaces, where the sensor zenith angle is approximately the same as the forenoon solar zenith angle, and where the sensor zenith angle is near its nadir in the afternoon. (3) The TRD can contribute up to 2.0 K to the results of assessing the SUHI intensity based on satellite data, which is approximately 31-44% of the total SUHI in Hefei.

RESUMEN

Currently, the implementation of water resource spatial equilibrium strategy is a fundamental policy of water resource integrated management in China; it is also a considerable challenge to explore the relationship structure features of water resources, society, economy and ecological environment (WSEE) complex system. For this purpose, firstly, we applied information entropy, ordered degree and connection number coupling method to reveal the membership characteristics between different evaluation indicators and grade criterion. Secondly, the system dynamics approach was introduced to describe the relationship features among different equilibrium subsystems. Finally, the ordered degree, connection number, information entropy and system dynamics integrated model was established to conduct relationship structure simulation and evolution trend evaluation of the WSEE system. The application results in Hefei city, Anhui Province, China, demonstrated that: (1) the variation of overall equilibrium conditions of WSEE system in Hefei city, 2020-2029 was higher compared to that of 2010-2019, though the increasing rate of ordered degree and connection number entropy (ODCNE) became slower after 2019; and (2) the annual ODCNE value from 2020 to 2029 of WSEE system under dry year scenarios increased about 0.0812, which indicated that the construction of Yangtze-Huaihe Diversion (YHD) project could play significant positive role in mitigating the equilibrium situation of WSEE system in Hefei city in the future. On the whole, this study is capable of providing the guidance basis for constructing a theoretical framework of structure simulation and equilibrium evaluation analysis of WSEE complex system.

RESUMEN

With the continuous expansion of cities, the land cover type of the region is transformed, a large number of natural landscapes are replaced by man-made landscapes, and the environmental temperature rises. The study of the response relationship between urban spatial pattern and thermal environment provides some guidance for improving the ecological environment and optimizing the urban spatial layout. Based on the Landsat 8 series remote sensing image data of Hefei City in 2020 and analysis platforms such as ENVI and ARCGIS, Pearson correlation and profile lines were used to reflect the correlation between the two. Then, the three spatial pattern components with the greatest correlation were selected to construct multiple regression functions to investigate the influence of urban spatial pattern on urban thermal environment and its mechanism of action. The results showed that:① the high temperature area of Hefei City increased significantly with the advance of time during 2013-2020. For different seasons, the urban heat island effect showed that summer>autumn>spring>winter. ② In the central urban area, the building occupancy, building height, imperviousness occupancy, and population density were significantly higher than those in the suburbs, whereas fractional vegetation coverage presented a higher suburban than urban area and mainly showed a point distribution in the urban area and an irregular distribution of water bodies. ③ The urban high-temperature zone was mainly distributed in various development zones in urban areas, whereas other places in urban areas were dominated by medium-high temperature and above-temperature zoning, and suburban areas were dominated by medium-low temperature. ④ The Pearson coefficients between the spatial pattern of each element and the thermal environment were positively correlated with the building occupancy (0.395), impervious surface occupancy (0.333), population density (0.481), and building height (0.188) and negatively correlated with fractional vegetation coverage (-0.577) and water occupancy (-0.384). The coefficients of the constructed multiple regression functions, including building occupancy, population density, and fractional vegetation coverage, were 8.372, 0.295, and -5.639 respectively, with a constant of 38.555. The results of this study can provide a reference basis for optimizing urban spatial layouts and improving urban living quality.

RESUMEN

Built environment characteristics such as walkability, land use diversity, infrastructure accessibility and attractiveness may support or hinder the elderly's leisure activities, which in turn affects their health. Promoting the elderly's leisure activities through the creation of a positive built environment is of great relevance to healthy aging. In the context of the continuous increasing of aging in China, promoting leisure activities for the elderly through improving the built environment has become an essential issue in urban geography and urban planning. Based on the questionnaire survey data of the elderly in Hefei City, a multilevel ordered probit regression model was used to investigate the mechanism of the multi-scale built environment on leisure activities of the elderly. The results show that: (1) more than 60% of the elderly can carry out leisure activities more than seven times a week, more than 50% of the elderly have a duration of fewer than 30 min for each leisure activity, and there are significant spatial differences in the frequency and duration of their trips at multiple scales in city, community and residential district. (2) Residential quality and community-level land use mixture, the density of leisure facilities, proximity to high-level urban roads, community security, living in the old city, and individual characteristic variables such as age, education, and satisfaction with neighborhood interaction positively contribute to the leisure activities of the elderly. In contrast, the community activity participation and the location close to expressways and railway lines have a significantly negative impact on the leisure activities of the elderly. (3) The mechanism of interactions between multi-scale built environments on the leisure activities of the elderly is mainly summarized as the transmission effect and substitution effect. The transmission effect shows that the differences in the community-level built environment are primarily caused by the differences in the city-level built environment. In contrast, the substitution effect shows that the multi-scale built environment such as residential districts, communities, and cities jointly affect the leisure activities of the elderly. Based on the mechanism of the built environment at different scales, this study can provide theoretical references and planning implications to improve the built environment through planning means such as enhancing the walkability of streets, the accessibility of facilities and the scale of greenery in order to promote active leisure activities and improve the health of the elderly.

RESUMEN

Most studies in the field of ecological restoration have only focused on repairing damaged land and have made no attempt to account for the impact of high-intensity land use on future landscape patterns. The purpose of this study was to propose a framework for evaluating the expected effects of ecological restoration based on land-use change and the ecological security pattern. Therefore, we integrated the PLUS model with the ecological security pattern and used Hefei City as a case study to conduct research. The results showed that from 2020 to 2030, land-use changes would occur primarily in the main urban area of Hefei and along the eastern shore of the Chaohu Lake watershed. Under the ecological protection scenario, arable land would be converted to construction land and woodland. Additionally, there would be an increase in ecological sources and pinch points in the area, and the number and area of the barriers would show a certain degree of reduction. The ecosystem quality, ecological integrity, and landscape connectivity of Hefei would be improved. This study offers a novel perspective for evaluating the expected effects of regional ecological restoration and provides an important reference for the dynamic formulation of multilevel ecological restoration policies.

RESUMEN

The land is both a cornerstone of socio-economic growth and an integral member of the ecological system since it is a resource essential to human life and development. Based on land use change, land ecological sensitivity, and socio-economic impact elements, we provide a comprehensive urban land ecological security (ULES) assessment system. Land use types, topography, and ecological sensitivity of the study area were analyzed first using remote sensing data and geographic information system (GIS) technology, followed by the development of a DPSIRM model framework to evaluate indicators using an entropy-variable-weight integrated weighting method for the analysis of land ecological security (LES) in Hefei. Among the study's findings are the following: (1) Between 2000 and 2020, Hefei City's land use changed dramatically, with an increase in the amount of construction land, most of which came from cultivated land, woods, and water bodies. (2) According to the ecological sensitivity study, Hefei's land ecology level is largely moderately sensitive and lowly sensitive. (3) Human activity factors have a greater impact on land ecology than natural variables. In order to increase the ecological safety coefficient of the land, it is necessary to limit human activities that cause anthropogenic disturbances. The study's findings may serve as a guide for the evaluation.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the surveillance results of soil-borne nematodiasis in Hefei City from 2012 to 2015, so as to provide the evidence formulating the Hefei "Thirteen-five" parasitic disease prevention strategy. METHODS: The population in monitoring points in Changfeng County, Lujiang City and Chaohu County were investigated for Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuristrichiura and hookworm infections with Kato-Katz technique every year from 2012 to 2015, and the children aged less than 6 years were checked for Enterobius vermicularis infection by using the cellophane tape method. RESULTS: A total of 12 496 people were investigated from 2012 to 2015, the number of infections was 84, and among them, the number of hookworm infection was the most (70 cases) and the number of A. lumbricoides was the least (3 cases). The infection rate in 2014 was higher than that in other years, and there was a statistically significant difference (P < 0.008). There was a statistically significant difference among all age groups over 6 years of age in the infection rates (χ2 = 27.229, P < 0.05), and the infection rate of the age group over 66 years was higher than that of the other age groups. The infection rate in the female was higher than that in the male (χ2 = 5.378, P < 0.05). The infection rate in the monitoring point in Changfeng County was higher than that in the other monitoring points (P < 0.017). CONCLUSIONS: From 2012 to 2015, the infection rate of soil-borne nematode infections is lower than 5% in Hefei City. The number of hookworm infection is the most. Therefore, during the "Thirteen five" period, the key point of prevention of parasitic infections is hookworm infection.
