AIM: Placental redistribution has been shown to improve haematological outcomes in the immediate neonatal period and early infancy. This study compared the effects of delayed cord clamping (DCC) and umbilical cord milking (UCM) on haematological and growth parameters at 12 months of age. METHODS: This was a follow-up study of a randomised control trial, conducted in a tertiary care paediatric centre from August 2013 to August 2014. We studied 200 apparently healthy Indian infants randomised at birth to receive DCC for 60-90 seconds or UCM. The outcome measures were iron status and physical growth parameters at 12 months. RESULTS: Of the 200 babies, 161 completed the follow-up and baseline characteristics were comparable in both groups. The mean haemoglobin in the DCC group (102.2 (17.2) g/L and serum ferritin 16.44 (2.77) µg/L) showed no significant differences to the UCM group (98.6 (17.1) g/L and 18.2 (2.8) µg/L) at one year. In addition, there were no significant differences in weight, height and mid-upper arm circumference in the two groups. CONCLUSION: Term-born Indian infants who had DCC at 60-90 seconds or UCM showed no significant differences in ferritin and haemoglobin levels and growth parameters at 12 months of age.

As a new technology awaiting widespread immersive usage, public awareness and understanding of the metaverse is likely significantly shaped by its coverage in the media. This study explored how the metaverse is framed in U.S. news media coverage, including who the media targets as metaverse users, and reflects on how this could shape public attitudes and engagement with the metaverse. Specifically, this study asked: which people and institutions are included and excluded from media coverage of the metaverse? To answer this question, a systematic content analysis of 526 U.S. news articles was conducted, drawing from three media databases. Findings reveal that the media frames the metaverse as a corporate space for those with buying power: investors, technology experts, and consumers. Users without buying power and users from marginalized groups were rarely considered in media coverage. Despite this, most coverage of the metaverse was descriptive, with only 11 percent of articles critiquing this space. These findings raise broad questions about commodification, exclusion, and inequality in the metaverse.

Cancer heterogeneity poses a significant hurdle to the successful treatment of the disease, and is being influenced by genetic inheritance, cellular and tissue biology, disease development, and response to therapy. While chemotherapeutic drugs have demonstrated effectiveness, their efficacy is impeded by challenges such as presence of resilient cancer stem cells, absence of specific biomarkers, and development of drug resistance. Often chemotherapy leads to a myriad of epigenetic, transcriptional and post-transcriptional alterations in gene expression as well as changes in protein expression, thereby leading to massive metabolic reprogramming. This review seeks to provide a detailed account of various transcriptional regulations, proteomic changes, and metabolic reprogramming in various cancer models in response to three primary chemotherapeutic interventions, docetaxel, carboplatin, and doxorubicin. Discussing the molecular targets of some of these regulatory events and highlighting their contribution in sensitivity to chemotherapy will provide insights into drug resistance mechanisms and uncover novel perspectives in cancer treatment.

Background: There are many different types of malocclusions that may result from the sagittal, vertical, or transverse deviations in normal craniofacial development. When it comes to orthodontic problems, malocclusions in the sagittal plane may have a considerable impact on a person's self-esteem as well as their ability to speak and eat properly. Sagittal anomalies in the skeletal, dental, and soft tissue systems may now be accurately diagnosed using a universally accepted standard lateral cephalogram (SLCE). Methods and Materials: The principal investigator manually traced the cephalograms, identified skeletal landmarks, and measured the following data. The ANB angle (normal range: 0° to 4°) is the angle framed by the point A, Nasion, and B. Estimated oppositely from point A and B on the functional occlusal plane, with Wits evaluation: AO-to-BO direct distance. AB plane angle : the angle formed by the AB and the Npog plane (normal range = -9° to 0°). Beta angle: the angle framed by the A-CB and AB lines, with a typical range of 27° to 35°. W angle: this is the angle created by the opposite line from M to the S-G line and the M-G line, with a typical range of 51 to 55 degrees. The angle of convexity: the angle between N-point A and A-Pog. (Normal range: -8.5 to 10 degree). Results: We utilised Pearson correlation to see how well the different skeletal studies correlated with one another. Wits and the ANB angle of convexity exhibited an excellent relationship with each other, with r = 0.831 and Downs angle of convexity (both r = 0.823 and P = 0.01) being statistically significant. This study used Kappa statistics to assess the degree of agreement between several cephalometric diagnostic criteria. The agreement between the ANB and final groups was strong (k = 0.802, P = 0.01). Conclusion: There was a strong link between all of the cephalometric measures. The cephalometric landmark and valid indication was determined to be the most dependable in evaluating malocclusion and development pattern.

We conducted a questionnaire study aimed towards PhD students in the field of visualization research to understand how they cope with paper rejections. We collected responses from 24 participants and performed a qualitative analysis of the data in relation to the provided support by collaborators, resubmission strategies, handling multiple rejects, and personal impression of the reviews. The results indicate that the PhD students in the visualization community generally cope well with the negative reviews and, with experience, learn how to act accordingly to improve and resubmit their work. Our results reveal the main coping strategies that can be applied for constructively handling rejected visualization papers. The most prominent strategies include: discussing reviews with collaborators and making a resubmission plan, doing a major revision to improve the work, shortening the work, and seeing rejection as a positive learning experience.

The objective of this work was to evaluated the effects of debranning (2% and 4%) of Indian and exotic wheat varieties on pasting, protein profile and rheological properties of meal. Exotic varieties grains showed significant difference in cooking properties despite having similar protein content. Debranned grains of exotic varieties showed significantly lower water uptake (WU) than those from Indian varieties. Ash content, protein content and mixographic properties (mixing time, dough strength) of meal decreased with increase in extent of debranning. With increase in debranning level unextractable polymeric proteins (UnEx-PP) decreased while unextractable monomeric proteins (UnEx-MP) increased. Exotic varieties had lower extractable PP as compared to Indian wheat varieties. With increase in debranning level pasting parameters (final, breakdown and peak viscosity) increased. Exotic varieties showed the higher gluten strength indicated by mixographic parameters. Wheat grains debranned to 4% debranning level showed better cooking properties. Exotic wheat varieties showed better pasting and mixing properties as compared to Indian wheat varieties.
