Transition state (TS) on the potential energy surface (PES) plays a key role in determining the kinetics and thermodynamics of chemical reactions. Inspired by the fact that the dynamics of complex systems are always driven by rare but significant transition events, we herein propose a TS search method in accordance with the Q-learning algorithm. Appropriate reward functions are set for a given PES to optimize the reaction pathway through continuous trial and error, and then the TS can be obtained from the optimized reaction pathway. The validity of this Q-learning method with reasonable settings of Q-value table including actions, states, learning rate, greedy rate, discount rate, and so on, is exemplified in 2 two-dimensional potential functions. In the applications of the Q-learning method to two chemical reactions, it is demonstrated that the Q-learning method can predict consistent TS and reaction pathway with those by ab initio calculations. Notably, the PES must be well prepared before using the Q-learning method, and a coarse-to-fine PES scanning scheme is thus introduced to save the computational time while maintaining the accuracy of the Q-learning prediction. This work offers a simple and reliable Q-learning method to search for all possible TS and reaction pathway of a chemical reaction, which may be a new option for effectively exploring the PES in an extensive search manner.

BACKGROUND: Forkhead-box protein P1 (FOXP1) has been proposed to have both oncogenic and tumor-suppressive properties, depending on tumor heterogeneity. However, the role of FOXP1 in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) has not been previously reported. METHODS: Immunohistochemistry was performed to detect FOXP1 expression in ICC and normal liver tissues. The relationship between FOXP1 levels and the clinicopathological characteristics of patients with ICC was evaluated. Finally, in vitro and in vivo experiments were conducted to examine the regulatory role of FOXP1 in ICC cells. RESULTS: FOXP1 was significantly downregulated in the ICC compared to their peritumoral tissues (p < 0.01). The positive rates of FOXP1 were significantly lower in patients with poor differentiation, lymph node metastasis, invasion into surrounding organs, and advanced stages (p < 0.05). Notably, patients with FOXP1 positivity had better outcomes (overall survival) than those with FOXP1 negativity (p < 0.05), as revealed by Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. Moreover, Cox multivariate analysis showed that negative FOXP1 expression, advanced TNM stages, invasion, and lymph node metastasis were independent prognostic risk factors in patients with ICC. Lastly, overexpression of FOXP1 inhibited the proliferation, migration, and invasion of ICC cells and promoted apoptosis, whereas knockdown of FOXP1 had the opposite role. CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that FOXP1 may serve as a novel outcome predictor for ICC as well as a tumor suppressor that may contribute to cancer treatment.

China faces challenges in meeting the World Health Organization (WHO)'s target of reducing hepatitis B virus (HBV) infections by 95% using 2015 as the baseline. Using Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2019 data, joinpoint regression models were used to analyse the temporal trends in the crude incidence rates (CIRs) and age-standardized incidence rates (ASIRs) of acute HBV (AHBV) infections in China from 1990 to 2019. The age-period-cohort model was used to estimate the effects of age, period, and birth cohort on AHBV infection risk, while the Bayesian age-period-cohort (BAPC) model was applied to predict the annual number and ASIRs of AHBV infections in China through 2030. The joinpoint regression model revealed that CIRs and ASIRs decreased from 1990 to 2019, with a faster decline occurring among males and females younger than 20 years. According to the age-period-cohort model, age effects showed a steep increase followed by a gradual decline, whereas period effects showed a linear decline, and cohort effects showed a gradual rise followed by a rapid decline. The number of cases of AHBV infections in China was predicted to decline until 2030, but it is unlikely to meet the WHO's target. These findings provide scientific support and guidance for hepatitis B prevention and control.

AIM: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of nutritional interventions (i.e. nutritional support, dietary patterns and dietary supplements) on cognitive function in cancer survivors. DESIGN: Systematic review. METHODS: A systematic and comprehensive search of PubMed, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, Embase, and CINAHL was conducted from the inception until March 10, 2023. The last search was conducted on December 10, 2023. REPORTING METHOD: PRISMA. RESULTS: A total of 59 randomized controlled trials were included for analysis. Nutritional support, dietary patterns and dietary supplements improved cognitive function in cancer survivors with no apparent safety concerns. The anti-inflammatory diet, the fasting-mimicking diet and the web-based diet significantly improved cognitive function. Whereas the ketogenic diet or dietary advice to consume more soluble dietary fibres and less insoluble dietary fibres and lactose could not. There was evidence from dietary supplements to support the beneficial effects of polyunsaturated fatty acid supplements, traditional herbal medicines and other supplements. CONCLUSIONS: Nutritional interventions have great promise for improving cognitive function in adult cancer survivors. Further validation of the nutritional interventions supported in this study in other survivors and exploration of more effective nutritional interventions are needed. IMPLICATIONS FOR THE PROFESSION AND/OR PATIENT CARE: This work can support the construction of nutritional support interventions and dietary guidance programs to prevent cancer-related cognitive decline. IMPACT: This work filled a gap in preventive strategies for cancer-related cognitive decline from a nutritional perspective. Nutritional support, dietary patterns, and dietary supplements can prevent cancer-related cognitive decline without serious safety concerns. This work highlighted nutritional interventions that have the potential to improve cognitive function in cancer survivors, benefiting the further construction of evidence-based nutritional intervention programs. Rechargeable aqueous zinc batteries are promising but hindered by unfavorable dendrite growth and side reactions on zinc anodes. In this study, we demonstrate a fast melting-solidification approach for effectively converting commercial Zn foils into single (002)-textured Zn featuring millimeter-sized grains. The melting process eliminates initial texture, residual stress, and grain size variations in diverse commercial Zn foils, guaranteeing the uniformity of commercial Zn foils into single (002)-textured Zn. The single (002)-texture ensures large-scale epitaxial and dense Zn deposition, while the reduction in grain boundaries significantly minimizes intergranular reactions. These features enable large grain single (002)-textured Zn shows planar and dense Zn deposition under harsh conditions (100 mA cm-2, 100 mAh cm-2), impressive reversibility in Zn||Zn symmetric cell (3280 h under 1 mA cm-2, 830 h under 10 mAh cm-2), and long cycling stability over 180 h with a high depth of discharge value of 75 %. This study successfully addresses the issue of uncontrollable texture formation in Zn foils following routine annealing treatments with temperatures below the Zn melting point. The findings of this study establish a highly efficient strategy for fabricating highly reversible single (002)-textured Zn anodes.

BACKGROUND: Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is poorly treated due to the presence of an inhibitory immune microenvironment. Tumor-associated macrophages (TAM) are an important component of TME. ALOX5 is an important lipid metabolism enzyme in cancer progression, but the mechanism by which it regulates TAM to promote ICC progression is unknown. The aim of this study was to investigate the potential mechanism of TAM regulation by ALOX5 and the translational effect of targeting ALOX5. METHODS: In this study, we investigated the association between the spatial localization of epithelial cells and TAMs by combining scRNA-seq analysis with multiplex immunofluorescence analysis. Through bulk sequencing analysis and spatial analysis, lipid metabolism genes closely related to TAM infiltration were screened. In vitro co-culture model was constructed to verify that ALOX5 and its downstream metabolite LTB4 promote M2 macrophage migration. Bulk sequencing after co-culture combined with single-cell analysis was performed to identify key pathways for up-regulation of M2 macrophage migration. Finally, the effect of CSF1R inhibitor (PLX3397) combined with ALOX5 inhibitor (Zileuton) in vivo was investigated by by xenograft tumor formation experiment in nude mice. RESULTS: ALOX5 in ICC cells was a key lipid metabolism gene affecting the infiltration of M2 macrophages in TME. Mechanically, LTB4, a metabolite downstream of ALOX5, recruited M2 macrophages to migrate around tumor cells by binding to BLT1/BLT2 and activating the PI3K pathway, which ultimately lead to the promotion of ICC progression. Targeting CSF1R in combination with ALOX5 inhibitor effectively reduced tumor volume and M2 macrophage infiltration abundance. CONCLUSION: In ICC, LTB4, a metabolite secreted by ALOX5 of epithelial cells, binded to BLT1/BLT2 on TAM surface to activate PI3K pathway and promote TAM migration, thus promoting ICC progression. Targeting CSF1R in combination with ALOX5 inhibitor for ICC is a promising combination therapy modality.

BACKGROUND: Sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs) is a major public health concern in China. This study assessed the overall trends in STBBIs to improve the comprehensive understanding of the burden of STBBIs and provide evidence for their prevention and control. METHODS: Data for the period from 2005 to 2021 were analyzed across China on infections with hepatitis B or C; syphilis; gonorrhea; and HIV infection. Trends, annual percent change (APC), and average annual percent change (AAPC) in diagnosis rate was analyzed using joinpoint regression models for the five STBBIs together or individually. RESULTS: From 2005 to 2021, the overall diagnosis rate of all five STBBIs increased, with an AAPC of 1.3% [95% confidence interval (CI) -0.5% to 3.1%]. Diagnosis rates of HIV, syphilis and hepatitis C increased individually, but it decreased for infections of hepatitis B and gonorrhea. Joinpoint analysis identified four phases in diagnosis rate of hepatitis C; three phases in diagnosis rate of hepatitis B, HIV infection, and syphilis; two in diagnosis rate of gonorrhea infection. CONCLUSION: Despite national efforts to prevent and control STBBIs, their overall diagnosis rate has continued to rise in China, and they remain an important public health challenge. Further efforts should be made to educate the general population about STBBIs, particularly HIV. Interventions targeting vulnerable groups should be adopted and their efficacy monitored through regular analysis of trends.

Optimizing reaction conditions to improve the yield is fundamental for chemical synthesis and industrial processes. Experiments can only be performed under a small portion of reaction conditions for a system, so a strategy of experimental design is required. Bayesian optimization, a global optimization algorithm, was found to outperform human decision-making in reaction optimization. Similarly, heuristic algorithms also have the potential to solve optimization problems. In this work, we optimize these reaction conditions for Buchwald-Hartwig and Suzuki systems by predicting reaction yields with three heuristic algorithms and three encoding methods. Our results demonstrate that particle swarm optimization with numerical encoding is better than the genetic algorithm or simulated annealing. Moreover, its performance is comparable to Bayesian optimization without the computational costs of descriptors. Particle swarm optimization is simple and easy to perform, and it can be implemented into laboratory practice to promote chemical synthesis.

As a prototypical system for studying the Eley-Rideal (ER) mechanism at the gas-surface interface, the reaction between incident H/D atoms and pre-covered D/H atoms on Cu (111) has attracted much experimental and theoretical interest. Detailed final state-resolved experimental data have been available for about thirty-years, leading to the discovery of many interesting dynamical features. However, previous theoretical models have suffered from reduced-dimensional approximations and/or omitting energy transfer to surface phonons and electrons, or the high cost of on-the-fly ab initio molecular dynamics, preventing quantitative comparisons with experimental data. Herein, we report the first high-dimensional neural network potential (NNP) for this ER reaction based on first-principles calculations including all molecular and surface degrees of freedom. Thanks to the high efficiency of this NNP, we are able to perform extensive quasi-classical molecular dynamics simulations with the inclusion of the excitation of low-lying electron-hole pairs (EHPs), which generally yield good agreement with various experimental results. More importantly, the isotopic and/or EHP effects in total reaction cross-sections and distributions of the product energy, scattering angle, and individual ro-vibrational states have been more clearly shown and discussed. This study sheds valuable light on this important ER prototype and opens a new avenue for further investigations of ER reactions using various initial conditions, surface temperatures, and coverages in the future.

BACKGROUND: Multikinase inhibitors (MKIs) treatment has been proven as a powerful strategy in cancer therapy. However, it is greatly hampered by its common adverse effect known as hand-foot skin reaction (HFSR), especially in patients with moderate-to-severe HFSR. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical characteristics, histopathological features, treatment response, and bio-indicators of HFSR. METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 102 patients with moderate-to-severe HFSR resulting from MKIs therapy. RESULTS: The median time to development of moderate-to-severe HFSR was 18 days, which would be significantly affected by the type of MKIs and the history of HFSR. Notably, we found that HFSR was classified into three consecutive stages: erythematous lesion, yellow hyperkeratotic lesion with surrounding erythema, and hyperkeratotic lesion. Inflammation was observed in the first two stages of HFSR, but disappeared in the third stage; in contrast, the hyperkeratosis gradually became thicker from stage one to stage three. Moreover, topical medications were demonstrated as an effective therapy for HFSR, among which, the topical steroids and urea ointment treatment response rate was 37.14%, the Shouzu Ning Decoction (SND) treatment response rate was 65%, and the SND in combination with urea ointment treatment response rate was 75%, meanwhile, systemic therapies did not improve the therapeutic efficacy of topical medications alone. In addition, the serum levels of HMGB1 were found to be a potential indicator for tracking the healing process as well as predicting the prognosis of HFSR. CONCLUSION: This study revealed the potential factors affecting the development of HFSR, evaluated the therapeutic response towards different strategies for treating HFSR, and identified a potential prognostic indicator of HFSR.

The human gut flora is highly diverse. Most lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are widely used as probiotics in human and animal husbandry and have a variety of physiological benefits. This article mainly studied the bacteriostatic ability of LAB against four pathogenic bacteria, gastrointestinal environment tolerance, and adhesion ability to Caco-2 cells. The genome of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum L461 was sequenced and analyzed. The results showed that strains F512, L461, and D469 had the most significant inhibitory effects on Escherichia coli, Salmonella enterica B, Staphylococcus aureus, and Listeria monocytogenes. In addition, strains L461, C502, and P231 showed good tolerance after exposure to simulated gastric fluid for 0-4 h. Strains C502, H781, and L461 showed good tolerance in simulated intestinal fluid. Strains L461 and H781 showed good adhesion to Caco-2 cells. The number of viable bacteria was more than 60. Therefore, we screened L. plantarum L461 from 12 LAB strains through three aspects of evaluation, and conducted whole genome sequencing and analysis. Sequencing results showed that L. plantarum L461 had more defense mechanisms and phage annotation genes than L. plantarum WCFS1. Virulence factor studies showed that L. plantarum L461 has iron absorption system and adhesion-related gene annotation, indicating that L. plantarum L461 has survival advantage in intestinal tract. The predicted results showed that there were eight phages with phage resistance in L. plantarum L461. L. plantarum L461 is sensitive to several antibiotics, notably penicillin and oxacillin. In summary, the results of this study prove that L. plantarum L461 has good prebiotic function and is safe. Therefore, L. plantarum L461 can be safely used as a potential functional probiotic.

OBJECTIVE: This study was aimed to delineate the clinical, CBCT radiographic characteristics, and complications of maxillary molar in a periodontitis population. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Medical records and CBCT images were utilized to identify adult patients with periodontitis in a tertiary referral dental hospital between June 2019 and December 2020. CBCT scan images were used to characterize the detailed bone thickness, absorbing height, and position of maxillary molar as well as their associated conditions. All relevant descriptive epidemiological data, clinical information, radiographic details, and associated complications were recorded and statistically analyzed. RESULTS: According to the above criteria, 577 eligible periodontitis patients were enrolled and defined as research cohort here with mean age 45 ± 4.8 years. Male patients outnumbered females with a gender ratio of 1.23:1. Our results demonstrated that the bone loss of maxillary first molar was more serious than that of second molar with tooth position symmetry. The occurrence of various complications (periodontal abscess, pulp lesions, furcation lesion, and mucosal thickening) was significantly correlated to periodontal-related clinical parameters of maxillary molar. CONCLUSIONS: Our results demonstrated the more serious bone loss of maxillary first molar with tooth position symmetry. The occurrence of various complications was significantly correlated to periodontal-related clinical parameters. Our findings offer valuable information concerning the clinical, radiographic characteristics, and complications of maxillary molar in a periodontitis population. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: These findings are beneficial for clinicians to comprehensively understand the bone status, pathogenesis, and clinical management of maxillary molar in periodontitis.

Global aging population, especially with the global pandemic outbreak of the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), has endangered human health security. Digital information technology through big data empowerment and intelligent application is widely considered a key element to solve the problems. Stroke is a life-threaten disorder. We studied individual health management and disease risk perception using human health assessment model and make full use of wearable wireless sensor, Internet of Things, big data, and Artificial Intelligence for potential risk monitoring and real-time stroke warning. We proposed an effective method of monitoring, early warning and rescue to improve the stroke treatment. The result shows that the health management empowered by big data can generate new opportunities and ideas to solve early detection and warning of stroke.

PURPOSE: Under the umbrella of social cognitive theory, we examined the influences of personal, environmental, and behavioral factors on adherence to healthy eating behaviors among colorectal cancer survivors. METHODS: Based on Pluye and Hong's framework, a systematic mixed studies review was conducted. An extensive search strategy was applied in PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, CINAHL, and PsycINFO (from date of record to 2022 January 22). The pillar integration process was employed to integrate the extracted data. The Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool was used to appraise the quality of all retained studies. RESULTS: Twenty-eight studies with a total sample size of 5106 were included in the analysis, with 15 quantitative studies, 12 qualitative studies, and 1 mixed method study. The critical appraisal showed that 22 of the 28 studies (79%) were rated with five stars, while 6 (21%) were rated with four stars. The personal factors influencing adherence to healthy eating behaviors among colorectal cancer survivors included outcome expectancies, self-efficacy, psychological factors, knowledge about healthy eating, demographic and disease characteristics, environmental factors incorporated outside information on healthy eating, power of surrounding people, social activities, cultural milieus, socioeconomic status, and education. The behavioral factors included self-regulation of diet, goals, and other behaviors closely related to healthy eating behaviors. CONCLUSIONS: Adherence to healthy eating behaviors among colorectal cancer survivors was influenced collectively by personal factors, environmental factors and behavioral factors.

BACKGROUND: The BBX (B-box) family are zinc finger protein (ZFP) transcription factors that play an essential role in plant growth, development and response to abiotic stresses. Although BBX genes have been characterized in many model organisms, genome-wide identification of the BBX family genes have not yet been reported in Moso bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis), and the biological functions of this family remain unknown. RESULT: In the present study, we identified 27 BBX genes in the genome of Moso bamboo, and analysis of their conserved motifs and multiple sequence alignments revealed that they all shared highly similar structures. Additionally, phylogenetic and homology analyses indicated that PeBBX genes were divided into three clusters, with whole-genome duplication (WGD) events having facilitated the expansion of this gene family. Light-responsive and stress-related cis-elements were identified by analyzing cis-elements in the promoters of all PeBBX genes. Short time-series expression miner (STEM) analysis revealed that the PeBBX genes had spatiotemporal-specific expression patterns and were likely involved in the growth and development of bamboo shoots. We further explored the downstream target genes of PeBBXs, and GO/KEGG enrichment analysis predicted multiple functions of BBX target genes, including those encoding enzymes involved in plant photosynthesis, pyruvate metabolism and glycolysis/gluconeogenesis. CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, we analyzed the PeBBX genes at multiple different levels, which will contribute to further studies of the BBX family and provide valuable information for the functional validation of this family.

BACKGROUND: Moso bamboo, the fastest growing plant on earth, is an important source for income in large areas of Asia, mainly cultivated in China. Lateral organ boundaries domain (LBD) proteins, a family of transcription factors unique to plants, are involved in multiple transcriptional regulatory pathways and play important roles in lateral organ development, pathogen response, secondary growth, and hormone response. The LBD gene family has not previously been characterized in moso bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis). RESULTS: In this study, we identified 55 members of the LBD gene family from moso bamboo and found that they were distributed non-uniformly across its 18 chromosomes. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the moso bamboo LBD genes could be divided into two classes. LBDs from the same class share relatively conserved gene structures and sequences encoding similar amino acids. A large number of hormone response-associated cis-regulatory elements were identified in the LBD upstream promoter sequences. Synteny analysis indicated that LBDs in the moso bamboo genome showed greater collinearity with those of O. sativa (rice) and Zea mays (maize) than with those of Arabidopsis and Capsicum annuum (pepper). Numerous segmental duplicates were found in the moso bamboo LBD gene family. Gene expression profiles in four tissues showed that the LBD genes had different spatial expression patterns. qRT-PCR assays with the Short Time-series Expression Miner (STEM) temporal expression analysis demonstrated that six genes (PeLBD20, PeLBD29, PeLBD46, PeLBD10, PeLBD38, and PeLBD06) were consistently up-regulated during the rapid growth and development of bamboo shoots. In addition, 248 candidate target genes that function in a variety of pathways were identified based on consensus LBD binding motifs. CONCLUSIONS: In the current study, we identified 55 members of the moso bamboo transcription factor LBD and characterized for the first time. Based on the short-time sequence expression software and RNA-seq data, the PeLBD gene expression was analyzed. We also investigated the functional annotation of all PeLBDs, including PPI network, GO, and KEGG enrichment based on String database. These results provide a theoretical basis and candidate genes for studying the molecular breeding mechanism of rapid growth of moso bamboo.

Recently, a new carbon allotrope, cyclo[18]carbon, of alternating short and long carbon-carbon bonds has been synthesized and characterized in the condensed phase. Inspired by experiments, a lot of theoretical studies involving adsorption, aromaticity, catalysis and spectra have been performed. Although cyclo[18]carbon is generally regarded as an unstable molecule, the theoretical explanation of its instability is still inadequate. In this work, we studied the intermediate process of reactions between cyclo[18]carbon and triplet oxygen by density functional theory calculations. The reaction is expected to happen easily because the maximal reaction energy barrier is less than 1 eV, and cyclo[16]carbon, cyclo[17]carbon and straight-chain C18O2 molecules have been considered as possible products. Infrared and Raman spectra were calculated to help in differentiating the final products. The thermal stability of cyclo[17]carbon is rather weak according to ab initio molecular dynamics simulations. This work sheds light on the synthesis of other cyclo[n]carbons and cumulenes by utilizing cyclo[18]carbon.

The arsenic acid-resistant (ArsR) family transcriptional regulators are widely distributed in microorganisms, including in the facultative intracellular pathogen Brucella spp. ArsR proteins are implicated in numerous biological processes. However, the specific roles of ArsR family members in Brucella remain obscure. Here, we show that ArsR6 (BSS2_RS07325) is required for Brucella survival both under heat, oxidative, and osmotic stress and in a murine infection model in vivo. RNA-seq and ChIP-seq reveal that 34 potential target genes for ArsR6 protein were identified, among which eight genes were up-regulated and 26 genes were down-regulated, including outer membrane protein 25D (Omp25D). ArsR6 autoregulates its own expression to maintain bacterial intracellular Cu/Ni homeostasis to benefit bacterial survival in hostile environments. Moreover, ArsR6 also regulates the production of virulence factor Omp25D, which is important for the survival of Brucella under stress conditions. Significantly, Omp25D deletion strain attenuated in a murine infection model in vivo. Altogether, our findings reveal a unique mechanism in which the ArsR family member ArsR6 autoregulates its expression and also modulates Omp25D expression to maintain metal ion homeostasis and virulence in Brucella.

INTRODUCTION: Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii), a parasitic protozoa that is associated with various psychiatric disorders. Both T. gondii infection and disturbed host's lipid profile are common in schizophrenia patients. However, the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms remain speculative. Also, the characteristics of serum lipid levels in schizophrenia patients comorbid with T. gondii infection are not clear. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the influence of chronic T. gondii infection on the characteristic physiological indexes of schizophrenia patients so as to provide some insights into finding target therapeutic drugs. METHODS: In this study, the effect of chronic T. gondii infection on serum lipid profile was retrospectively analysed in 1719 schizophrenic patients and 1552 healthy subjects from Eastern China. RESULTS: The overall prevalence of Immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies against T. gondii (17.98%) in schizophrenia patients was significantly higher than healthy controls (7.35%, χ2 = 81.831, P = 0.000). Compared to T. gondii IgG-seronegative schizophrenia patients, IgG-seropositive group had higher high-density lipoprotein (HDL) (P = 0.000) and triglycerides (TG) (P = 0.000) levels, while total cholesterol (TC) (P = 0.000) levels showed an opposite tendency in IgG-seropositive cases. We also found significant correlation between T. gondii seropositivity and increased TG (P = 0.000) and TC levels (P = 0.000) in schizophrenia patients. Binary regression analysis also showed that decreased TC level was more common among schizophrenia patients with T. gondii seropositivity compared to seronegative subjects (OR = 0.617, 95%CI = 0.509-0.749, P = 0.000). CONCLUSION: Patients with chronic T. gondii infection and comorbid schizophrenia had higher HDL and TG levels, while cholesterol levels showed an opposite trend. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report focus on the host's lipid profile of chronic T. gondii infection and comorbid schizophrenia patients.

Eley-Rideal (ER) reaction between a projectile and an adsorbate at a gas-surface interface represents many interesting dynamic features. Electron-hole pairs (EHPs) could play an important role in this process, given the interaction between the accelerated incident atom/molecule and the surface electrons. Here, we examine the EHP effects in a benchmark ER reaction of an impinging H/D atom and pre-covered D/H atoms on Cu(111) by ab initio molecular dynamics simulations. It is found that energy dissipation to EHPs lowers the reaction cross sections by ∼1/3, mainly due to the suppression of the hot atom mechanism, but has a minor effect on rotational distributions, leading to quantitative agreement with experimental data. More interestingly, electronic excitation is responsible for the isotopic effect in translational energy distributions, but probably not for that in angular distributions. Our results highlight the specific role of electronic excitation in detailed dynamic quantities in the ER process.
