A practical method to determine the heating and cooling curves of x-ray tube assemblies.

A practical method to determine the heating and cooling curves of x-ray tube assemblies with rotating anode x-ray tube is proposed. Available procedures to obtain these curves as described in the literature are performed during operation of the equipment, and the precision of the method depends on the knowledge of the total energy applied in the system. In the present work we describe procedures which use a calorimetric system and do not require the operation of the x-ray equipment. The method was applied successfully to a x-ray tube assembly that was under test in our laboratory.

[Primary leiomyosarcoma of the mesentery]. / Leiomiosarcoma primitivo del mesentere.

A case of primary leiomyosarcoma of the mesentery is described. Only seven other cases have been reported in the literature, which means that this was an accidental finding. The histological features of the case are illustrated. It is suggested that this tumour originates in the muscle cells of the mesenteric vessels. The view that surgical management is incapable of improving the fatal prognosis is expressed.

[Importance of pupillary and photomotor reflexes in cardiac resuscitation]. / Importanza dei riflessi pupillari durante la rianimazione cardiocircolatoria.

The Authors present twenty cases of cardiac arrest which underwent cardio-respiratory resuscitation. The study of pupillary diameter and photomotor reflex are of easy detection and may be of relevant prognostic value during the resuscitation itself.
