RESUMO

A strictly aerobic, Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped, yellow, non-spore-forming bacterial strain, designated P-25T, was isolated from soil collected in Yantai, Shandong Province, PR China. The temperature, pH and NaCl concentration ranges for the growth of strain P-25T were 10-37 °C (optimum, 28-30 °C), pH 6.0-9.0 (optimum, pH 7.5-8.0) and 0-4 % (w/v) (optimum, 1 % w/v), respectively. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain P-25T was most closely related to Pedobacter xixiisoli S27T (98.1 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity), followed by Pedobacter chitinilyticus CM134L-2T (97.2 %) and Pedobacter ureilyticus THG-T11T (97.1 %). The genomic DNA G+C content of strain P-25T based on its draft genome sequence was 38.1 %. MK-7 was the major respiratory quinone, and iso-C15 : 0, C16 : 1ω7c and/or C16 : 1ω6c (summed feature 3) and iso-C17 : 0 3-OH were the major fatty acids. The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, one unidentified aminophospholipid, one unidentified phospholipid, two unidentified lipids, five unidentified aminolipids and two unidentified glycolipids. Average nucleotide identity values for the draft genomes between strain P-25T and strains S27T, CM134L-2T and THG-T11T were 81.8, 77.6 and 81.2 %, respectively, and the digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) values were 30.0, 19.2 and 27.6 %, respectively. Based on their phylogenetic and phenotypic characteristics, chemotaxonomic data, and dDDH results, strain P-25T is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Pedobacter, for which the name Pedobacter helvus sp. nov. is proposed; the type strain is strain P-25T (KCTC 62821T=CCTCC AB 2018185T).

RESUMO

A novel Gram-staining-negative, non-motile and rod-shaped bacterial strain ZQBWT, which was isolated from a diuron-polluted soil collected near Nanjing, PR China, was investigated for its taxonomic position by a polyphasic approach. ZQBWT grew well at pH 6.0-12.0 (optimum, pH 7.0), 26-35 °C (optimum, 30 °C) and up to 0.5 % NaCl (optimally the absence of NaCl) in R2A broth. The major fatty acids of ZQBWT were C18 : 1ω7c (82.7 %) and C18 : 0 (5.3 %). The polar lipid profile included the major compounds phophatidylcholine, phosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylmethylethanolamine. The only respiratory quinone was ubiquinone Q-10. The G+C content of genomic DNA was 67.0 mol%. Comparisons with 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that ZQBWT has the highest sequence similarities with members of the genus Tabrizicola (≤95.97 %), followed by Rhodobacter(≤95.96 %) and Falsirhodobacter(95.95 %) which all belong to the family Rhodobacteraceaein the phylum Proteobacteria. Photosynthesis genes pufLM were not found and photosynthesis pigments were not formed in ZQBWT. On the basis of the results from chemotaxonomic, phenotypic and phylogenetic analysis, ZQBWT represents a novel species of a novel genus, for which the name Xinfangfangia soli gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is ZQBWT (=KCTC 62102T=CCTCC AB 2017177T).

RESUMO

A Gram-stain-negative bacterium, designated LY-1T, was isolated from the soil sample collected from a chemical factory in Fuyang city, Anhui province, China. Cells of strain LY-1T were strictly aerobic, non-motile and rod-shaped. Strain LY-1T grew optimally at pH 7.0 and at 30-35 °C. The taxonomic position was investigated using a polyphasic approach. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain LY-1T was a member of the genus Chitinophaga and showed the highest sequence similarity to Chitinophaga costaii A37T2T (97.5 %) and lower (<97.0 %) sequence similarity to other known Chitinophaga species. Chemotaxonomic analysis revealed that strain LY-1T possessed menaquinone-7 as the major isoprenoid quinone; and iso-C15 : 0 (46.4 %), C16 : 1ω5c (27.8 %) and iso-C17 : 0 3-OH (9.0 %) were the predominant fatty acids. The polar lipids of strain LY-1T consisted of phosphatidylethanolamine, three unidentified phosphoaminolipids, one unidentified phospholipid, four unidentified lipids, two unidentified aminolipids and two unidentified glycolipids. The genomic DNA G+C content of strain LY-1T was 52.4 mol% based on total genome calculations. The average nucleotide identity and the digital DNA-DNA hybridization value of the draft genomes between strain LY-1T and strain A37T2T were 76.8 and 19.8 %, respectively. Based on the phylogenetic and phenotypic characteristics, chemotaxonomic data, and DNA-DNA hybridization, strain LY-1T is considered a novel species of the genus Chitinophaga, for which the name Chitinophagaparva sp. nov. (type strain LY-1T=CCTCC AB 2018018T=KCTC 62444T) is proposed.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical characteristics of patients with idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH) in China. METHODS: A total of 161 patients diagnosed as IPAH in Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital from June 2008 to June 2010 were retrospective analyzed. RESULTS: The mean diagnostic age was (33 ± 15) years old and 70.2% patients were female. The median duration from symptoms onset to diagnostic right heart catheterization was 12 months. Incidence of NYHA class III to IV was 56.5% at diagnosis and the mean six minutes walk distance was limited to (398 ± 108) meters. Incidence of mild obstructive, restrictive and diffusing impairment in pulmonary function test was 7.8%, 42.2% and 82.2% patients with IPAH, respectively. Right heart catheterization demonstrated severe elevated mean pulmonary arterial pressure [(63 ± 17) mm Hg (1 mm Hg = 0.133 kPa)] and pulmonary vascular resistance index [(25 ± 12) Wood U/m(2)] in this patient cohort. The response rate of acute pulmonary vasoreactivity testing was 8.7% in this cohort. Compared with non-responders, responders to acute pulmonary vasoreactivity testing were younger and with less severe pulmonary hypertension. Among non-responders, 89% patients were treated by one specific anti-pulmonary arterial hypertension drug and 27% patients received combined anti-pulmonary arterial hypertension medications. CONCLUSIONS: Young female was predominantly involved in patients with IPAH in China. The diagnosis of IPAH is often made at advanced disease stage and majority patients with IPAH received specific anti-pulmonary arterial hypertension therapies in this patient cohort.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the present status of pulmonary embolism (PE) misdiagnosis in China. METHODS: Documents on PE misdiagnosis published in Chinese-language journals between 2001 and 2004 were identified by searching the China Hospital Knowledge Database in China National Knowledge Infrastructure Web (CNKI-CHKD). Retrospective review items include: patient symptoms, medical examination tools, treatments and prognosis, causes of death, hospitals involved. The recent situation on PE misdiagnosis was also compared to that in year between 1980 to 2000. The number of published literatures on PE and PE misdiagnosis from 1994 to 2004 was also searched. RESULTS: (1) A total of 110 documents with 1540 misdiagnosed PE patients were found. The misdiagnosis time varies from 0.5 hour to 16 years and was 1.86 years on average. (2) Once the misdiagnosis be corrected, the prognosis could be improved by antithrombotic and thrombolytic therapies compared with those without antithrombotic and thrombolytic therapies (OR 11.67, 95% CI 5.861-23.249). The major causes of death were sudden death, resistant shock in patients without antithrombotic and thrombolytic therapies while the causes were sudden death, cerebral hemorrhage and resistant shock in PE patients received antithrombotic and thrombolytic therapies. (3) Literatures on PE misdiagnosis were most from provincial hospitals [37 papers with 547 cases (33.6%, 35.5%)] and municipal hospitals [43 papers with 671 cases (39.1%, 43.6%)]. (4) The number of papers published on PE and PE misdiagnosis from 1994 to 2004 increased steadily by an average of 26.6% and 9.1%, respectively. (5) PE was misdiagnosed to more than 70 kinds of diseases and the top 4 were coronary heart disease in 449 cases (26.8%), pneumonia in 217 cases (12.9%), congestive heart failure in 142 cases (8.5%) and pleurisy in 114 cases (6.8%). CONCLUSIONS: (1) PE misdiagnosis is still a critical issue now in China and early diagnosis and effective treatment is essential for a better prognosis. (2) The differential diagnosis among PE and coronary heart disease and pneumonia need to be emphasized to avoid the PE misdiagnosis. (3) Efforts should be made through continuing education on clinical professionals to improve their knowledge on PE in China.
