RESUMO

BACKGROUND: -Recent evidence suggests that hyperuricemia may act as independent risk factors for erectile dysfunction (ED), in addition to the already established factors. The current evidence supporting this relationship remains insufficient. METHODS AND RESULTS: -A total of 3,810 participants from the NHANES pool between 2001 and 2004 were included in our study, comprising 1,093 individuals with ED and 2,717 individuals without ED. Univariable and multivariable logistic regression analyses were conducted to examine the relationship between uric acid (UA) and the prevalence of ED. In the fully adjusted model, no significant association was observed between UA and ED (OR = 1.02, 95% CI: 0.84-1.24), and no significant differences were noted among the various UA levels (p = 0.5). In our sensitivity analyses, employing a stricter definition for ED, no significant results were found in the fully adjusted model (OR = 0.85, 95% CI: 0.60-1.19). Furthermore, no significant differences were observed among the various UA levels (p = 0.083). CONCLUSIONS: -Our study did not establish a correlation between UA levels and ED. Nonetheless, further research with larger sample cohorts is required to verify these findings.

RESUMO

Background: Children with special health care needs (CSHCN) require long-term and ongoing rehabilitation interventions supporting their development. Telerehabilitation can provide continuous rehabilitation services for CSHCN. However, few studies have explored the intention of CSHCN and their caregivers to use telerehabilitation and its impact on them. Objective: The objective of this study was to identify factors that influence the intention to use telerehabilitation among CSHCN and their caregivers. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional study. Based on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology, extended with additional predictors (trust and perceived risk [PR]), this study developed a research model and proposed 10 hypotheses. A structured questionnaire was distributed to 176 caregivers. Data were analyzed and research hypotheses were tested using partial least squares structural equation modeling to better understand the factors influencing the use of telerehabilitation. Results: A total of 164 valid questionnaires were collected. CSHCN and their caregivers were overall satisfied with this telerehabilitation medical service. The results of the structural model analysis indicated that social influence (SI), facilitating conditions (FC), and trust had significant effects on behavioral intention (BI) to use telerehabilitation, while the paths between performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), and PR and BI were not significant. PE, EE, and SI had a significant effect on trust. Moreover, EE and SI had indirect effects on BI, with trust as the mediator. Conclusions: The results indicated that SI, FC, and trust are significant factors influencing CSHCN and their caregivers' use of telerehabilitation. Trust is also an important mediator for the intention and highly influenced by PE, EE, and SI.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: DNA methylation is a form of epigenetic modification that impacts gene expression without modifying the DNA sequence, thereby exerting control over gene function and cellular development. The prediction of DNA methylation is vital for understanding and exploring gene regulatory mechanisms. Currently, machine learning algorithms are primarily used for model construction. However, several challenges remain to be addressed, including limited prediction accuracy, constrained generalization capability, and insufficient learning capacity. RESULTS: In response to the aforementioned challenges, this paper leverages the similarities between DNA sequences and time series to introduce a time series-based hybrid ensemble learning model, called Multi2-Con-CAPSO-LSTM. The model utilizes multivariate and multidimensional encoding approach, combining three types of time series encodings with three kinds of genetic feature encodings, resulting in a total of nine types of feature encoding matrices. Convolutional Neural Networks are utilized to extract features from DNA sequences, including temporal, positional, physicochemical, and genetic information, thereby creating a comprehensive feature matrix. The Long Short-Term Memory model is then optimized using the Chaotic Accelerated Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm for predicting DNA methylation. CONCLUSIONS: Through cross-validation experiments conducted on 17 species involving three types of DNA methylation (6 mA, 5hmC, and 4mC), the results demonstrate the robust predictive capabilities of the Multi2-Con-CAPSO-LSTM model in DNA methylation prediction across various types and species. Compared with other benchmark models, the Multi2-Con-CAPSO-LSTM model demonstrates significant advantages in sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and correlation. The model proposed in this paper provides valuable insights and inspiration across various disciplines, including sequence alignment, genetic evolution, time series analysis, and structure-activity relationships.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Bowen's disease is a cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC) in situ. If left untreated, BD may progress to invasive CSCC. CSCC is one of the most common cutaneous carcinoma in the elderly and the advanced, metastasis CSCC usually have a poor outcomes. However, the mechanisms of invasion and metastasis from Bowen's disease to CSCC is complicated and still unclear. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to explore the biomarkers and molecular alterations in Bowen's disease development process via analyzing the proteomics changes in tissues of CSCC, Bowen disease and healthy skin. METHODS: A total of 7 individuals with CSCC (5 for proteomics study and 2 for validation), 7 individuals with Bowen disease (5 for proteomics study and 2 for validation) and 7 healthy controls (5 for proteomics study and 2 for validation) presented to the Department of Dermatology, Yijishan Hospital, the First Affiliated Hospital of Wannan Medical College between January 2021 and December 2021 were enrolled. The proteomics analysis was performed to screen differentially expressed proteins/gens (DEPs/DEGs) in the lesions of CSCC, Bowen disease and healthy skin tissues. The transcriptomic data (GSE32628) of CSCC was selected and downloaded from the GEO database. The common DEGs in our proteomics results and GSE32628 between CSCC and healthy skin tissues were selected. And then, the common DEGs which significantly up or down-regulated between CSCC and Bowen disease in our proteomics results were further screened to identify using Western blot methods in the validation group. CSCC A431 cells were transfected with SERPINB1 small interfering RNA (si-SERPINB1) or small interfering RNA negative control (si-NC). To explore the effect of SERPINB1 silencing on migration and invasion ability of A431 cells. RESULTS: A total of 501 proteins were differentially expressed between the CSCC and healthy skin tissues, with 332 up-regulated and 169 down-regulated at least 1.5-fold with a P value < 0.05. These DEPs involved multiple biological functions such as protein binding process, immune, inflammation, ribosome, protein digestion and absorption, ECM-receptor interaction, focal adhesion, PI3K-Akt signaling pathway and others. A total of 20 common DEGs (COL3A1, LUM, TNC, COL1A1, ALDH3A2, FSCN1, SERPINB4, SERPINB1, CD36, COL4A1, CSTB, GPX3, S100A7, ACTN1, SERPINB3, S100A8, RAB31, STAT1, SPRR1B, S100A9) between CSCC and healthy skin tissues in GSE32628 and our proteomics results were found. Besides, the proteins of TNC, FSCN1, SERPINB1, ACTN1 and RAB31 in CSCC were significantly up-regulated, while COL3A1, COL1A1 and CD36 were significantly down-regulated relative to Bowen disease in proteomics results. These proteins were mainly involved in multiple pathways, including Focal adhesion, ECM-receptor interaction, Human papillomavirus infection, PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, PPAR signaling pathway, AMPK signaling pathway and others. These eight proteins were selected for further validation. According to the Western blotting analysis, when compared with the Bowen disease and healthy skin tissues, we found that the relative expression levels of TNC, FSCN1, SERPINB1, ACTN1 and RAB31 in the CSCC were significantly increased, while COL1A1 and CD36 were significantly decreased, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Furthermore, the relative expression levels of TNC, FSCN1, SERPINB1 in the Bowen disease were also significantly increased, while the COL3A1 were also significantly decreased relative to the healthy control. SERPINB1 siRNA inhibited the expression of SERPINB1 at mRNA and protein levels in the A431 cells. After interfering with the expression of SERPINB1, the migration and invasion ability in the A431 cells were significantly decreased (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: This study highlights that eight proteins, TNC, FSCN1, SERPINB1, ACTN1, RAB31, COL3A1, COL1A1, CD36, were significantly associated with the mechanisms of invasion and metastasis in Bowen's disease.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Robot-assisted thoracic surgery has gradually been accepted as an alternative treatment for early-stage non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) owing to its advantages. However, severe incomplete interlobar fissure may lead to a high rate of conversion and postoperative morbidity. This retrospective study was conducted to assess the safety and efficiency of robot-assisted lung resection for patients with incomplete fissures (IFs). METHODS: A retrospective review of medical records was performed in our institution from March 2021 to November 2021, and 207 patients with NSCLC who underwent robot-assisted anatomic lung resection were included in this study. Patients were divided into the IF group and the complete fissure (CF) group according to the level of fissure, which was determined based on the anatomical classification of pulmonary fissures. RESULTS: The number of patients in the IF and CF groups was 87 and 120, respectively. In univariate analysis, there were no statistically significant differences between the two groups in terms of operative time (p = 0.66), intraoperative blood loss (p = 0.26), chest tube duration (p = 0.41), incidence of prolonged air leakage (PAL, p = 0.49), or length of postoperative hospital stay (p = 0.25). No patients experienced bronchopleural fistula, pneumonia, or cardiovascular complications. The total cost in the IF group was higher than that in the CF group (¥83,655 ± 13,314 versus ¥78,211 ± 11,980, p = 0.002). CONCLUSION: IF does not increase the difficulty of lung cancer surgery with robotic platforms. Robot-assisted anatomic lung resection using the tunnel technique is an effective and safe method for IF patients.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Urogenital small foreign bodies (FBs) have rarely been reported in children, and their management is still challenging. This study aimed to describe the characteristics and treatment of spherical FBs no larger than 0.6 cm in the children's genitourinary tracts.  METHODS : The clinical data of spherical FBs removed in our hospital from June 2013 to June 2020 were recorded and retrospectively analyzed, including demographics, location, symptoms, imaging examinations and treatment methods. RESULTS: A total of 10 patients were enrolled: 6 girls and 4 boys. Their ages ranged from 5.1 to 16.8 years old, with a mean age of 9.2 years. The course of the disease ranged from 3 h to 1 year, and symptoms recurred in some cases. Their imaging characteristics were reviewed and analyzed, 6 patients underwent color Doppler ultrasonography, 1 patient was suspected to have an FB in the vagina, 7 patients underwent an X-ray examination, and FBs were revealed in 6 patients. All FBs were removed under endoscopic minimally invasive surgery. Six vaginal FBs were successfully retrieved via vaginoscopy, and in the other four cases, removal by transurethral cystoscopy failed because of mutual attraction, which was eliminated by laparoscopy under pneumovesicum. Postoperative recovery was uneventful; in a follow-up of 3 months to 2 years, there was no perforation or fistula formation, and there were no urethral strictures in boys. CONCLUSION: Small spherical FBs are clinically rare; they are sometimes difficult to detect by imaging examinations and can be easily overlooked. Minimally invasive endoscopy remains the first-line approach for the diagnosis and removal of genitourinary spherical FBs.

RESUMO

Memory is a dynamic brain function that is continually processed after encoding. Although psychologic concepts of mental schema are now well established, they have rarely been considered in animal studies. We used a behavior paradigm of multiple flavor-place paired associates (PAs) and showed that memory schema facilitates fast acquisition of new PAs in a single trial. The hippocampus is necessary for the encoding of new PAs and for memory retrieval within a certain time window-24 h following new PA consolidation. Whereas the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) plays a critical role for dynamic PA learning and consolidation during training sessions, ACC is essential in schema representation and activation. New myelin generation is essential for learning. Neural activity in the cortical regions impacts myelination by regulating oligodendrocyte (OL) proliferation, differentiation, and myelin formation. Here, we show that newly formed OL progenitor cells and mature OLs are increased following repeated PA learning and that establishment of the memory schema is associated with enhanced myelin strength in the ACC region. Furthermore, to ensure that myelination is necessary for the acquisition of paired-associate learning, ACC lysolecithin-induced demyelination revealed impaired PA learning associated with decrease in ACC θ band power and reduced spike-field coherence and phase-locking in ACC.-Hasan, M., Kanna, M. RESUMO

The aim of this paper was to investigate the effect of flavonoids of Sophorae Fructus on the proliferation, migration and invasion of hepatocellular carcinoma cells and analyze the regulatory mechanism of LncRNA FBXL19-AS1/miR-342-3 p pathway. MTT assay and plate cloning assay were used to detect the effect of flavonoids of Sophorae Fructus at different concentrations(1, 5, 10 mg·mL~(-1)) on the proliferation of liver cancer Huh7 cells. The effect of flavonoids of Sophorae Fructus on the migration and invasion of Huh7 cells was examined by Transwell chamber assay. qRT-PCR was used to detect the effect of flavonoids of Sophorae Fructus on the expression levels of FBXL19-AS1 and miR-342-3 p in Huh7 cells. The dual luciferase reporter assay was used to detect whether FBXL19-AS1 targeted at miR-342-3 p. The effect on the inhibition of FBXL19-AS1 expression or FBXL19-AS1 overexpression and then the proliferation, migration and invasion of Huh7 cells were examined by the above methods. Gelatin zymography was used to detect the activities of MMP-2 and MMP-9. The expression levels of cyclinD1, p21, MMP-2 and MMP-9 proteins were detected by Western blot. Flavonoids of Sophorae Fructus significantly inhibited the proliferation, migration and invasion of Huh7 cells(P<0.05), promoted the expression of p21 protein(P<0.05), and inhibited the expressions of cyclinD1, MMP-2 and MMP-9(P<0.05) in a dose-dependent manner, and could reduce the activity of MMP-2 and MMP-9(P<0.05). The expression level of FBXL19-AS1 was significantly decreased in Huh7 cells treated with flavonoids of Sophorae Fructus(P<0.05), whereas the expression level of miR-342-3 p was significantly increased(P<0.05). The dual luciferase reporter assay confirmed that FBXL19-AS1 targeted at the inhibition of miR-342-3 p expression. After inhibiting the expression of FBXL19-AS1, the inhibition rate of cell proliferation was significantly increased(P<0.05), the number of cell clone formation was significantly reduced(P<0.05), the number of migrated cells and the number of invasive cells were significantly decreased(P<0.05), and the expression levels of cyclinD1, MMP-2 and MMP-9 were significantly decreased(P<0.05), the activities of MMP-2 and MMP-9 were significantly reduced(P<0.05), while the expression level of p21 protein was significantly increased(P<0.05). The overexpression of FBXL19-AS1 reversed the inhibitory effect of flavonoids of Sophorae Fructus on the proliferation, migration and invasion of Huh7 cells. Flavonoids of Sophorae Fructus could inhibite the proliferation, migration and invasion of hepatoma cells by regulating LncRNA FBXL19-AS1/miR-342-3 p pathway.

RESUMO

Nuclear factor 45 (NF-45) has been found to be markedly upregulated in several cancers, including esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). However, the molecular mechanisms underlying its functions remain unclear. In this study, we confirm that overexpression of NF45 was frequently detected in ESCC tissues and was associated with poor outcome. Overexpression studies revealed that NF-45 promoted cell growth and invasion and upregulated Rac1/Tiam1 signalling via 14-3-3ε protein in ESCC cell lines. This novel mechanism linking upregulated NF45 expression to increased 14-3-3ε/Rac1/Tiam1 signalling and subsequent growth and invasion in ESCC may aid in identification of new therapeutic targets for this disease.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to reveal the correlation between superior mesenteric artery (SMA) blood flow in the first 12 hours of life and the risk of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) in preterm neonates. METHODS: We conducted a prospective study. There were 104 preterm neonates included in our study. The SMA blood flow of each neonate was measured during the first 12 hours of life if the hemodynamic situation was stable. The results of Doppler ultrasound were confidential to the neonatologists and nurses. All of the demographics, comorbidities, and outcomes were recorded and analyzed. RESULTS: Among all of the demographics and comorbidities, the gestational age was related to the measurements of SMA blood flow. We conducted a single-factor analysis of the occurrence of NEC, including the peak systolic velocity (PSV), end-diastolic velocity, time-averaged mean velocity, differential velocity (DV), resistive index, and pulsatility index. A higher PSV (median [interquartile range], 54.165 [42.423-68.463] versus 42.195 [34.278-48.553] cm/s; P = .027) and DV (median [interquartile range], 47.445 [35.010-60.043] versus 32.565 [27.545-39.073] cm/s; P = .020) were significantly related to the risk of NEC. In the logistic analysis including gestational age, PSV, and DV, NEC was significantly associated with gestational age (odds ratio [95% confidence interval], 0.644 [0.456-0.908]; P = .012) and DV (odds ratio [95% confidence interval], 1.144 [1.058-1.237]; P < .01). The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve for the DV was 0.768, with sensitivity 0.875 and specificity 0.604. The cutoff value of the DV was 34.835 cm/s. CONCLUSIONS: From this single-center study, we can see the promising value of Doppler ultrasound for the prediction of NEC, but further research is needed.

RESUMO

GPRC6A is a G protein-coupled receptor activated by l-amino acids, which, based on analyses of knock-out mice, has been suggested to have physiological functions in metabolism and testicular function. The human ortholog is, however, mostly retained intracellularly in contrast to the cell surface-expressed murine and goldfish orthologs. The latter orthologs are Gq-coupled and lead to intracellular accumulation of inositol phosphates and calcium release. In the present study we cloned the bonobo chimpanzee GPRC6A receptor, which is 99% identical to the human receptor, and show that it is cell surface-expressed and functional. By analyses of chimeric human/mouse and human/bonobo receptors, bonobo receptor mutants, and the single nucleotide polymorphism database at NCBI, we identify an insertion/deletion variation in the third intracellular loop responsible for the intracellular retention and lack of function of the human ortholog. Genetic analyses of the 1000 genome database and the Inter99 cohort of 6,000 Danes establish the distribution of genotypes among ethnic groups, showing that the cell surface-expressed and functional variant is much more prevalent in the African population than in European and Asian populations and that this variant is partly linked with a stop codon early in the receptor sequence (rs6907580, amino acid position 57). In conclusion, our data solve a more than decade-old question of why the cloned human GPRC6A receptor is not cell surface-expressed and functional and provide a genetic framework to study human phenotypic traits in large genome sequencing projects linked with physiological measurement and biomarkers.

RESUMO

The propagation characteristics of annular cos-Gaussian beams and Bessel-Gaussian beams in turbulence have been widely investigated. However, the expression of the average intensity of Bessel-Gaussian beams involves a complex double integral, which requires large computational resources and does not easily ensure accuracy. Under this background, through the general cos-Gaussian beam rotation, a new annular cos-Gaussian beam is proposed which not only has some properties of the general cos-Gaussian beam, but also properties similar to those of the Bessel-Gaussian beam. Moreover, the annular cos-Gaussian beam is simpler in form than the general one and much more time-saving in calculation than the Bessel-Gaussian beams. Based on the extended Huygens-Fresnel principle, the average intensity on a receiver plane of the annular cos-Gaussian beams can be simplified to a summation of several polynomials and it is in good agreement with that of low-order Bessel Gaussian beams. The average radius and the power in the bucket are also derived. In summary, the annular cos-Gaussian beam has promising applications for its quick calculation and simple form among annular beams and hollow beams.

RESUMO

Lung adenocarcinoma remains to be a high-mortality disease with few effective prognostic biomarkers. Novel biomarkers are urgently demanded to supplement the current prognostic biomarkers. Here, we explored the prognostic value of CYP3A4 and CYP3A5 in lung adenocarcinoma. The tissue microarray was made up of lung adenocarcinoma samples and corresponding normal lung tissues from Nanjing Medical University affiliated Cancer Hospital Tissue Bank. The expression of CYP3A4, together with CYP3A5, was detected by the chip data from Gene Expression Omnibus datasets and immunohistochemistry staining of the tissue microarray. Then, we assessed the relationships between CYP3A4 or CYP3A5 expression level and clinicopathological factors to estimate the clinical significance. Kaplan-Meier curves were applied to analyze the prognosis. Univariate and multivariate Cox analyses were subsequently applied to identify the independent prognostic factors. Immunohistochemistry staining results showed that by comparison with matched normal tissues, CYP3A4 was frequently hyper-expressed in lung adenocarcinoma tissues while CYP3A5 was hypo-expressed, which was consistent with the Gene Expression Omnibus analysis. Kaplan-Meier analysis indicated that high-CYP3A4 or low-CYP3A5 expression level predicted poor survival in lung adenocarcinoma patients. Multivariate Cox analysis found that hypo-expression of CYP3A5 was an independent prognostic factor. Further study revealed that combination of these two markers exhibited a more powerful predictor of poor prognosis, which could target to more accurate survival of lung adenocarcinoma. Our findings indicate that combination of CYP3A4 and CYP3A5 may serve as a novel prognostic biomarker in lung adenocarcinoma, which contribute to the precision of predicting the survival in lung adenocarcinoma.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: For esophageal carcinoma patients with early gastrectomy, individualized surgical plans-including selection of replacement conduit and operation route based on patient's new lesion and surgical history-can achieve the desired therapeutic effect and improve postoperative life quality. We investigated the outcomes at our institution. METHODS: The clinical data of 42 esophageal carcinoma patients with early gastrectomy were analyzed retrospectively. RESULTS: Esophagectomy was performed combining replacement with remnant stomach in 16 patients, jejunum in 17, and colon in 9. Esophagectomy combining replacement with gastric remnant got advantages of shorter operation time and less bleeding over that of replacement with jejunum or colon. Gastric remnant group scored higher on the QLQ-C30 questionnaire than jejunum or colon group with respect to overall quality of life, physical function, and social relationships. In QLQ-OES18 questionnaire, the scores of appetite recovery and reflux mitigation were more favorable in remnant stomach group than those in jejunum or colon group. Survival analysis showed no significant difference in survival rate among the patients undergoing replacement with gastric remnant, jejunum, or colon. CONCLUSIONS: For esophageal carcinoma patients with early gastrectomy, esophagus-gastric remnant anastomosis possesses advantages of shorter operation time, less surgical trauma, and greater life quality after surgery.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Conflicting results on the correlation between hyperuricemia and the prognosis of stroke had been reported and the close association between serum uric acid (SUA) and abnormal glycomatabolism might further complicate the assessment of the correlation. We aimed to investigate SUA in predicting the prognosis of acute stroke in different glycometabolism status. METHODS: A total of 2907 patients aged from 18 to 85 (1220 diabetes mellitus (DM), 777 prediabetes and 910 normoglycemia) were selected from the Abnormal Glucose Regulation in Patients with Acute Stroke across China (ACROSS-China) study. The patients were divided into groups according to the SUA quartile as well as decile. The correlations between SUA and the poor outcome (mRS > 2) at discharge were assessed stratified by glucose metabolism status. Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the potential risk factors of poor in-hospital outcome of stroke and the risk-adjustment of the correlation between SUA and the prognosis of stroke. P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS: SUA were divided first as Quartile1 to 4 (Quartile1 < 221 µmol L-1; Quartile2 (221-286) µmol L-1; Quartile3 (286-352) µmol L-1 and Quartile4 > 352 µmol L-1), then as decile1 to 10. In normoglycaemia, SUA quartiles, deciles and continuous SUA concentration were independently significantly associated with poor outcome. Q1 was independently associated with the higher possibility of poor functional outcome (compared to Q4, odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidential interval (CI) was 3.79 (1.23-8.67) in Q1); Lower level of SUA in DM was also associated with poor functional outcome at discharge compared to the highest level of SUA(Q4)(OR with 95% CI, 2.07 (1.05-4.08)), however, lower SUA level was also related to severer stroke at admission in DM as well as in prediabetes (P < 0.001 in DM and 0.023 in prediabetes) and severer stroke resulted in worse functional outcome at discharge (OR with 95% CI, 12.15 (8.08-18.21) in DM and 11.58 (7.50-23.25) in prediabetes). But in normoglycamic stroke, SUA levels did not differ in stroke severity at admission (P = 0.066). CONCLUSIONS: Low SUA level (<221 µmol L-1) independently and strongly predicts the short-term poor functional outcome in acute stroke with normoglycaemia other than diabetes or prediabetes.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to investigate changes in peripheral blood cells of radiation workers and explore the impact of long-term ionizing radiation (IR) on human peripheral hemogram. METHODS: With a cohort method, we selected 1,392 radiation workers (case group) and 1,430 non-health-ray-exposure history persons (control group) to detect and analyze their peripheral hemogram. FAITH3000 automatic biochemical analyzer was used for blood testing. Examination of peripheral hemogram includes the examination of white blood cells (WBCs), platelet (PLTs), red blood cells (RBCs), hemoglobin (Hb), lymphocytes (LYMs), and mononuclear cells (MOs). The data analysis was conducted with software SPSS19.0. RESULTS: All the peripheral hemogram indicators (WBCs, RBCs, Hb, PLTs, LYMs, and MOs) in the case group, in accordance with the order of radiology diagnostic medical group, industrial inspection group, petroleum logging group, and radiotherapy medical group, showed a significant decreasing trend and were lower than those in the control group (all P < 0.05). Besides, with the increase of radiation seniority and accumulative radiation dose, all the peripheral hemogram indicators (WBCs, RBCs, Hb, PLTs, LYMs, and MOs) in the case group dramatically decreased and were lower than those in the control group (all P < 0.05). Seniority was in negative association with the expressions of WBCs, PLTs, RBCs, Hb, LYMs, and MOs and radiation dose with Hb, LYMs, and MOs (all P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Long-term IR has some effects on the health of radiation workers, thus protective measures should be further strengthened.

RESUMO

GC is usually used for xenon concentration and radon removal in the International Monitoring System of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty. In a gas chromatograph, the injection volume is defined to calculate the column capacity. In this paper, the injection volume was investigated and a fitting formula for the injection volume was derived and discussed subsequently. As a consequence, the xenon injection volume exponentially decreased with the column temperature increased, but exponentially increased as the flow rate increased.

RESUMO

Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) is a common orthopedic disorder of unknown etiology and pathogenesis. Melatonin and melatonin pathway dysfunction has been widely suspected to play an important role in the pathogenesis. Many different types of animal models have been developed to induce experimental scoliosis mimicking the pathoanatomical features of idiopathic scoliosis in human. The scoliosis deformity was believed to be induced by pinealectomy and mediated through the resulting melatonin-deficiency. However, the lack of upright mechanical spinal loading and inherent rotational instability of the curvature render the similarity of these models to the human counterparts questionable. Different concerns have been raised challenging the scientific validity and limitations of each model. The objectives of this review follow the logical need to re-examine and compare the relevance and appropriateness of each of the animal models that have been used for studying the etiopathogenesis of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis in human in the past 15 to 20 years.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To analyse anatomical characteristics of the pelvic floor in young nulliparous volunteers based on three-dimensional MRI. METHODS: Thin-slice MRI was performed in 25 young nulliparous volunteers in Southern Medical University, MRI were imported into Mimics 10.01 for 3D reconstruction.Using 3D models we measured follow indicators: the levator ani muscle volume (LVOL) , levator plate angle (LPA), levator hiatus width (LH-W)and length (LH-L), distance between symphysis and levator sling muscle (LSG). RESULTS: (1) 25 cases of pelvic three-dimensional models was successfully constructed, including the pelvis, pelvic organs and the pelvic floor muscles (including the ischial coccyx muscle, levator ani muscle and its various components, perineal muscles), the models could be able to clearly reflect the level of the pelvic floor muscles; (2) 25 cases of levator ani muscle measurement results:LVOL: (34 ± 6) cm(3), LPA: (43 ± 4) °, LH-W: (33 ± 4) mm, LH-L: (54 ± 5) mm, left LSG: (18.8 ± 2.5) mm, right LSG: (18.3 ± 2.5) mm. CONCLUSIONS: It is an effective way to use the computer to reconstruct the 3D model of female pelvic floor muscles using MRI data set. The quantitative analysis of levator ani muscle three-dimensional model can be assessed pelvic floor function, which is of great value in clinical practice. It is helpful to understand the pelvic floor disorders pathogenesis, clinical diagnosis, treatment options and treatment evaluation to provide reference standards.
