RESUMO

This study aimed to explore and analyze research trends and frontiers on functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) in the past 20 years and identify collaboration networks. fNIRS-related publications from 2000 to 2019 were retrieved from the Web of Science database. A total of 1727 publications satisfied the search criteria. Bibliometric visualization analysis of active authors, journals, institutions, countries, references, and keywords were conducted. The number of annual related publications remarkably increased over the years. Fallgatter published the largest number of fNIRS-related papers (83). Neuroimage not only had the largest number of papers published in the first 10 journals (157 articles) but also had the highest impact factor (IF, 2018 â€‹= â€‹5.812). The University of Tubingen had the highest number of fNIRS-related publications in the past 20 years. The United States ranked first in terms of comprehensive influence in this field. In recent years, burst keywords (e.g., infant, social interaction, and older adult) and a series of references with citation burst provided clues on research frontiers.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Although studies on the improvement of pain after exercise are increasingly diverse, whether Tai Chi Quan can improve the pressure pain thresholds remains unknown. This study was to observe the effect of Tai Chi Quan on the pressure pain thresholds of lower back muscles in healthy women. PATIENTS AND METHODS: This was a randomized controlled trial. Sixty healthy women aged 18-40 years were randomly assigned to Tai Chi group or control group. The Tai Chi group received 40-minute practice, and the control group received 5-minute sham Tai Chi Quan practice and 35-minute rest. The pressure pain thresholds of the longissimus thoracis, iliocostalis lumborum, multifidus muscle, quadratus lumborum, gluteus medius and supraspinous ligament were assessed before and immediately after intervention. RESULTS: The pressure pain thresholds of test points in the Tai Chi group showed substantial improvements after exercise, whereas those in the control group did not improve. Overall, the pressure pain thresholds in the Tai Chi group significantly increased compared with the control group (longissimus thoracis: p = 0.000, iliocostalis lumborum: p = 0.000, multifidus muscle: p = 0.000, quadratus lumborum: p = 0.012, gluteus medius: p = 0.000 and supraspinous ligament: p = 0.000). CONCLUSION: Forty minutes of Tai Chi Quan exercise remarkably increased the pressure pain thresholds of lower back muscles in healthy women, and thresholds at by an these points increased average of 17.2%.

RESUMO

Objectives: Chronic low back pain has become a major cause of global disability and caused a huge economic burden to society. Physical therapy is a vital strategy for rehabilitation of chronic low back pain. Although several trials have shown that Tai Chi Quan is a beneficial treatment, the comparative effectiveness of Tai Chi Quan versus physical therapy is unknown. We are conducting a randomized controlled trial to assess the effectiveness of Tai Chi Quan versus that of physical therapy in treating chronic low back pain. Methods: We will perform a single-blind randomized controlled trial on elderly people with chronic low back pain. 138 participants will be randomly assigned to the Tai Chi Quan group (60-min classes, three times per week for 12 weeks) or physical therapy group (10 min of evaluation and warm-up, 40 min of therapist-directed exercise therapy, and 10 min of relaxation, three times per week for 12 weeks) with an allocation of 1:1. The participants will be followed up for 40 weeks for the study of long-term effects. The primary outcomes include pain intensity and back-related function at 12 weeks. Secondary outcomes include lumbar quantitative sensory testing, balance, cognitive function, psychosocial function, cost-effectiveness, compliance and adverse events. We will perform the intention-to-treat analysis for withdrawal and missing data. Discussion: The study will be the first randomized trial with comparative-effectiveness of Tai Chi Quan and physical therapy for chronic low back pain. Standardized protocol, large sample size, and comprehensive outcomes are important features in this trial. This study aims to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of Tai Chi Quan for low back pain. The results of this study will be beneficial for elderly people with low back pain and medical rehabilitation personnel. Clinical Trial Registration: www.chictr.org.cn, identifier ChiCTR2000029723.

RESUMO

Scutellaria baicalensis (SB; Chinese name, huangqin) is widely used in Chinese medicine as a traditional adjuvant in the chemotherapy of lung and liver cancer. Baicalein is one of the bioactive flavonoid components isolated from the root of SB. The present study aimed to observe the effect of baicalein, in combination with platin-based systemic chemotherapy (cisplatin), on cytotoxicity and apoptosis of human A549 lung cancer cells. The cell cultures were treated with baicalein, cisplatin, or a combination of the two. Cell viability and cytotoxicity was assayed by XTT, and cell apoptosis was measured by flow cytometry. The apoptosis-associated proteins were detected by western blot analysis. The cytokines in the culture supernatant were detected by ELISA. The present study revealed that cisplatin and the baicalein-cisplatin combination inhibited viability and promoted cytotoxicity of A549 cells. Cisplatin, baicalein and baicalein-cisplatin combination treatments were effective in the promotion of apoptosis of A549 cells. Baicalein and baicalein-cisplatin combination treatments also inhibited B cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2) and increased Bcl-2-associated X protein (Bax) expression. Additionally, cisplatin, baicalein and the baicalein-cisplatin combination promoted caspase-3 expression. Furthermore, the baicalein-cisplatin combination suppressed the secretion of interleukin-6, and baicalein and the combination of baicalein cisplatin decreased the secretion of tumor necrosis factor-α of A549 cells. The present study concluded that baicalein combined with cisplatin induced cytotoxicity and apoptosis of A549 cells, and such activity may be associated with the regulation of Bcl-2, Bax and caspase-3, indicating a promising alternative method for lung cancer.
