RESUMO

For the purpose of research and comparative analysis of the features of cerebral blood flow, determined by the ultrasonic duplex scanning (USDS) method, in persons with clinical signs of chronic cerebral venous dysfunction syndrome and different levels of arterial pressure (AP), ultrasound of the head and neck was performed in 104 patients. 78 people - the main group (MG), where patients were selected for clinical signs of the presence of chronic cerebral venous dysfunction syndrome (CCVDS) and different blood pressure levels, were divided into 3 clinical groups: 33 people - people with high blood pressure (157.2±12,2/98.3±4.2) - hypertensive patients; 24 people with labile blood pressure with predominantly normal average blood pressure (125.23±12.2/82.22±4.14) - conditional normotonics; 21 people with low blood pressure (100.32±7.23/65.45±6.4) were hypotonic. Also, 26 patients of the comparison group were recruited - people without clinical signs of CCVDS and different levels of blood pressure, distributed according to the same principle: hypertensive patients - 8 people, normotonic patients - 13 people, hypotensive patients - 5 people. The total age of the patients ranged from 35 to 65 years (mean age 53.60±10.27 years). Among the patients there were 82 women and 22 men. Statistical comparison was performed using Fisher's exact test. The mean velocity indices of cerebral blood flow with varying degrees of reliability, depending on the level of arterial pressure, differed in patients with chronic cerebral venous dysfunction syndrome versus the indices of the comparison groups. The presence of clinical signs of CCVDS in people with different blood pressure levels was accompanied by a significant slowdown in blood flow in most cerebral arteries and a significant acceleration in the Rosenthal vein compared with patients without clinical manifestations of venous dysfunction and with the same arterial pressure. Attention was drawn to the fact that in persons with increased blood pressure, in contrast to the rest of the patients, a statistically significant acceleration of the linear blood flow velocity in vertebral artery at the level of the second cervical vertebra (VA2) was observed (p<0.05). In the subgroups of hypertensive patients with CCVDS, the mean linear blood flow velocity with a significant difference was twice less than the comparison group: a significant decrease in velocity parameters was only in the middle cerebral arteriasis (MCA) basins on both sides (p<0.01, p<0.05 on the right and left, respectively) and on the left in the pools posterior cerebral artery (PCA), VA2, a significant increase in blood flow (p<0.01, p<0.05) - in the veins of Rosenthal (VR). This discrepancy can be explained by the fact that hypertensive patients from the comparison group, that is, without clinical symptoms of CCVDS, already have subclinical manifestations of CCVDS, as evidenced by changes in the USDS indicators.

RESUMO

In experimental rabbits, cysteine injected intravenously in a dose of 1000 mg/kg temporarily bound zinc in ß cells and prevented the formation of chelate zinc complexes in response to subsequent injection of diabetogenic zinc-binding substances that induce cell destruction. Injection of cysteine to animals was associated with a sharply negative reaction to zinc in ß cells, which attests to blockade of zinc ions. Injection of cysteine few minutes after dithizone and formation of zinc-dithizone complex was followed by displacement of dithizone from the complex and prevented the development of diabetes in most animals. The most plausible mechanism of preventive effect of cysteine is the formation of 2:1 zinc-cysteine complex in ß cells with possible fixation of Zn atom between sulfur atoms from SH groups of two cysteine molecules.

RESUMO

Structural quality and stability of nanocrystals are fundamental problems that bear important consequences for the performances of small-scale devices. Indeed, at the nanoscale, their functional properties are largely influenced by elastic strain and depend critically on the presence of crystal defects. It is thus of prime importance to be able to monitor, by noninvasive means, the stability of the microstructure of nano-objects against external stimuli such as mechanical load. Here we demonstrate the potential of Bragg coherent diffraction imaging for such measurements, by imaging in 3D the evolution of the microstructure of a nanocrystal exposed to in situ mechanical loading. Not only could we observe the evolution of the internal strain field after successive loadings, but we also evidenced a transient microstructure hosting a stable dislocation loop. The latter is fully characterized from its characteristic displacement field. The mechanical behavior of this small crystal is clearly at odds with what happens in bulk materials where many dislocations interact. Moreover, this original in situ experiment opens interesting possibilities for the investigation of plastic deformation at the nanoscale.

RESUMO

Impact of the wounds coverings on the wounds contents pH in the injured persons, suffering superficial burns of skin, was studied. In 75 patients (the main group) the wounds treatment was accomplished under the wounds covering, in 35 of them xenotransplants were applied, and in 40 coverings made of hydrogel. In 35 patients (the comparison group) the moisture-drying gauze bandages were used. There was established, that the wound indices of pH constitute an important factor for the burn wounds healing. The changes of the media pH towards the acid one under the wounds covering had stimulated the wounds healing and epithelization.

RESUMO

In 76 injured persons with deep and superficial burns, having area from 3 to 65% of the total body surface and ageing 5-16 yrs old, there was investigated the impact of early surgical treatment on the metabolic intoxication severity in accordance to content of the oxidatively modified proteins carbonyl groups in the blood serum, and of a ceruloplasmin, what was considered as integral express-index of the organism antioxidant system state. Changes of these indices in ambustial disease of middle severity have witnessed a sufficiently compensated reaction of organism: of severe and extremely severe one--there were noted a deficiency of the organism antioxidant defense; and in stages of toxemia and septicotoxemia--attrition of the organism oxidant reserves and danger of the septic complications occurrence. Conduction of early surgical intervention have guaranteed maintenance of a ceruloplasmin content in stages of toxemia and septicotoxemia on the level of healthy persons, relief of the ambustial disease course, absence of critical metabolic intoxication and carbonyl stress, reduction of the septic complications rate in 1.5 times.

RESUMO

Dynamics of a blood serum concentration of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF- alpha), interleukines (IL-1beta, IL-10) in 35 patients, suffering severe burn, and possibility of application of these indices as biomarkers of the severity state and the complications prognosis, were studied. During the investigation there was established, that TNF-alpha concentration on the 8 - 10th and 19 - 21th day after trauma does the best for characterization of a burn total area, while the IL-1beta concentration on the 8 - 10th day after trauma - the deep affections severity and the IL-10 concentration on the 19 - 21th day after trauma - the deep affections severity. Hyperreactivity, caused by enhanced production of TNF-alpha, IL-1beta and IL-10, witnesses the raised risk of development of the organs complications. And adversely, hypo- and areactivity in extended and deep burns witnesses about enhanced risk of lethality. The blood serum concentration of TNF-alpha, IL-1beta and IL-10 is expedient to use as a biomarkers of the patients state severity and for the course prognosis of pathological process.

RESUMO

UNLABELLED: The aim of our study was to identify electrocardiographic predictors of response to cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). METHODS: 46 patients with DCM (76% men; mean age 48.8+/-12 years; mean NYHA class 3.09+/-0.3; mean QRS duration 167+/-30.1 ms; left ventricular ejection fraction 23.5+/-6%) had CRT implanted. Assessment of clinical, laboratory and echocardiographic (including TDI) and 12-lead surface ECG parameters was performed at baseline, in 24 hours post CRT implantation and after 6 months of follow-up. Multivariate logistic regression analysis selected the following independent predictors of response to CRT: two pre-implantation - baseline RS width in lead V1 ≥ 113.5 ms (OR 0.94, 95% CI 0.814-1.00; p=0.000), BNP ≤ 456 g/ml (OR 0.92, 95% CI 0.797-1.00; p=0.001); and two post-implantation: shortening of QRS width - ΔQRS ≥ -24.5 ms (OR 0.80, 95% CI 0.586-1.00; p=0.01) and shortening of RS V1 width - ΔRSV1 ≥ -21.8 ms (S: 0.87, 95% CI 0.72-1.00; p= 0.002) in 24 hours after CRT.

RESUMO

To examine the presence and level of viral infection, field observations of the soybean crops in the Cherkassy, Vinnitsa and Kyiv regions have been performed. It was established that the diseases in the soybean plants growing in the examined areas have been caused by two major viruses--SMV (Soybean mosaic virus) and BYMV (Bean yellow mosaic virus). The results of field observations have been confirmed using light and electron microscopy and ELISA.

RESUMO

Investigation was based on analysis of the treatment results of 75 children, suffering extended superficial and deep skin burns squared 15-30% of body surface. There was proved, that sequence of excision of superficial and deep necrotic scab influences the burn disease course. There was elaborated algorithm of sequence of the operative treatment stages in patients, suffering extended superficial skin burns, coexisting with deep burns, the superficial necrotic scab definitely, was excised after trauma and a deep one--in the second stage. The superficial and deep necrotic scab excision before 7-9th day after trauma have promoted significant reduction of the intoxication syndrome severity, the middle molecular mass peptides, indices of peroxidal oxidization of lipids, oxidizing modification of proteins, clinical signs of SIRS, rate of septic complications in 1.75 times, the stationary treatment time of severely ill patients by (7.2 +/- 1.5) days.
