RESUMO

The completion of the Human Genome Project has provided a foundational blueprint for understanding human life. Nonetheless, understanding the intricate mechanisms through which our genetic blueprint is involved in disease or orchestrates development across temporal and spatial dimensions remains a profound scientific challenge. Recent breakthroughs in cellular omics technologies have paved new pathways for understanding the regulation of genomic elements and the relationship between gene expression, cellular functions, and cell fate determination. The advent of spatial omics technologies, encompassing both imaging and sequencing-based methodologies, has enabled a comprehensive understanding of biological processes from a cellular ecosystem perspective. This review offers an updated overview of how spatial omics has advanced our understanding of the translation of genetic information into cellular heterogeneity and tissue structural organization and their dynamic changes over time. It emphasizes the discovery of various biological phenomena, related to organ functionality, embryogenesis, species evolution, and the pathogenesis of diseases.

Optimizing the root architecture of crops is an effective strategy for improving crop yields. Soil compaction is a serious global problem that limits crop productivity by restricting root growth, but the underlying molecular mechanisms are largely unclear. Here, we show that ethylene stimulates rice (Oryza sativa) crown root development in response to soil compaction. First, we demonstrate that compacted soil promotes ethylene production and the accumulation of ETHYLENE INSENSITIVE 3-LIKE 1 (OsEIL1) in rice roots, stimulating crown root primordia initiation and development, thereby increasing crown root number in lower stem nodes. Through transcriptome profiling and molecular analyses, we reveal that OsEIL1 directly activates the expression of WUSCHEL-RELATED HOMEOBOX 11 (OsWOX11), an activator of crown root emergence and growth, and that OsWOX11 mutations delay crown root development, thus impairing the plant's response to ethylene and soil compaction. Genetic analysis demonstrates that OsWOX11 functions downstream of OsEIL1. In summary, our results demonstrate that the OsEIL1-OsWOX11 module regulates ethylene action during crown root development in response to soil compaction, providing a strategy for the genetic modification of crop root architecture and grain agronomic traits.

Recent technological developments in spatial transcriptomics allow researchers to measure gene expression of cells and their spatial locations at the single-cell level, generating detailed biological insight into biological processes. A comprehensive database could facilitate the sharing of spatial transcriptomic data and streamline the data acquisition process for researchers. Here, we present the Spatial TranscriptOmics DataBase (STOmicsDB), a database that serves as a one-stop hub for spatial transcriptomics. STOmicsDB integrates 218 manually curated datasets representing 17 species. We annotated cell types, identified spatial regions and genes, and performed cell-cell interaction analysis for these datasets. STOmicsDB features a user-friendly interface for the rapid visualization of millions of cells. To further facilitate the reusability and interoperability of spatial transcriptomic data, we developed standards for spatial transcriptomic data archiving and constructed a spatial transcriptomic data archiving system. Additionally, we offer a distinctive capability of customizing dedicated sub-databases in STOmicsDB for researchers, assisting them in visualizing their spatial transcriptomic analyses. We believe that STOmicsDB could contribute to research insights in the spatial transcriptomics field, including data archiving, sharing, visualization and analysis. Primary root growth in cereal crops is fundamental for early establishment of the seedling and grain yield. In young rice (Oryza sativa) seedlings, the primary root grows rapidly for 7-10 days after germination and then stops; however, the underlying mechanism determining primary root growth is unclear. Here, we report that the interplay of ethylene and gibberellin (GA) controls the orchestrated development of the primary root in young rice seedlings. Our analyses advance the knowledge that primary root growth is maintained by higher ethylene production, which lowers bioactive GA contents. Further investigations unraveled that ethylene signaling transcription factor ETHYLENE INSENSITIVE3-LIKE 1 (OsEIL1) activates the expression of the GA metabolism genes GIBBERELLIN 2-OXIDASE 1 (OsGA2ox1), OsGA2ox2, OsGA2ox3, and OsGA2ox5, thereby deactivating GA activity, inhibiting cell proliferation in the root meristem, and ultimately gradually inhibiting primary root growth. Mutation in OsGA2ox3 weakened ethylene-induced GA inactivation and reduced the ethylene sensitivity of the root. Genetic analysis revealed that OsGA2ox3 functions downstream of OsEIL1. Taken together, we identify a molecular pathway impacted by ethylene during primary root elongation in rice and provide insight into the coordination of ethylene and GA signals during root development and seedling establishment.

Currently, the construction of anti-ambipolar transistors (AATs) is primarily based on asymmetric heterostructures, which are challenging to fabricate. AATs used for photodetection are accompanied by dark currents that prove difficult to suppress, resulting in reduced sensitivity. This work presents light-triggered AATs based on an in-plane lateral WSe2 homojunction without van der Waals heterostructures. In this device, the WSe2 channel is partially electrically controlled by the back gate due to the screening effect of the bottom electrode, resulting in a homojunction that is dynamically modulated with gate voltage, exhibiting electrostatically reconfigurable and light-triggered anti-ambipolar behaviors. It exhibits high responsivity (188 A/W) and detectivity (8.94 × 1014 Jones) under 635 nm illumination with a low power density of 0.23 µW/cm2, promising a new approach to low-power, high-performance photodetectors. Moreover, the device demonstrates efficient self-driven photodetection. Furthermore, ternary inverters are realized using monolithic WSe2, simplifying the manufacturing of multivalued logic devices.

BACKGROUND: Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), an immunomodulatory neuropeptide, is important for regulating pain transmission, vasodilation, and the inflammatory response. However, the molecular mechanisms of the CGRP-mediated immune response remain unknown. METHODS: The effects of CGRP on bacterial meningitis (BM) and its underlying mechanisms were investigated in BM mice in vivo and macrophages in vitro. RESULTS: Peripheral injection of CGRP attenuated cytokine storms and protected mice from fatal pneumococcal meningitis, marked by increased bacterial clearance, improved neuroethology, and reduced mortality. When the underlying mechanisms were investigated, we found that CGRP induces proteasome-dependent degradation of major histocompatibility complex class II (MHC-II) in macrophages and then inhibits CD4+ T-cell activation. MARCH1 was identified as an E3 ligase that can be induced by CGRP engagement and promote K48-linked ubiquitination and degradation of MHC-II in macrophages. These results provide new insights into neuropeptide CGRP-mediated immune regulation mechanisms. CONCLUSIONS: We conclude that targeting the nervous system and manipulating neuroimmune communication is a promising strategy for treating intracranial infections like BM.

Incorporating a third component into binary organic solar cells (b-OSCs) has provided a potential platform to boost power conversion efficiency (PCEs). However, gaining control over the non-equilibrium blend morphology via the molecular design of the perylene diimide (PDI)-based third component toward efficient ternary organic solar cells (t-OSCs) still remains challenging. Herein, two novel PDI derivatives are developed with tailored molecular planarity, namely ufBTz-2PDI and fBTz-2PDI, as the third component for t-OSCs. Notably, after performing a cyclization reaction, the twisted ufBTz-2PDI with an amorphous character transferred to the highly planar fBTz-2PDI followed by a semi-crystalline character. When incorporating the semi-crystalline fBTz-2PDI into the D18:L8-BO system, the resultant t-OSC achieved an impressive PCE of 18.56%, surpassing the 17.88% attained in b-OSCs. In comparison, the addition of amorphous ufBTz-2PDI into the binary system facilitates additional charge trap sites and results in a deteriorative PCE of 14.37%. Additionally, The third component fBTz-2PDI possesses a good generality in optimizing the PCEs of several b-OSCs systems are demonstrated. The results not only provided a novel A-DA'D-A motif for further designing efficient third component but also demonstrated the crucial role of modulated crystallinity of the PDI-based third component in optimizing PCEs of t-OSCs.

BACKGROUND: The Learning Early About Peanut Allergy (LEAP) trial showed that early dietary introduction of peanut reduced the risk of developing peanut allergy by age 60 months in infants at high risk for peanut allergy. In this secondary analysis of LEAP data, we aimed to determine risk subgroups within these infants and estimate their respective intervention effects of early peanut introduction. METHODS: LEAP raw data were retrieved from ITNTrialShare.org. Conditional random forest was applied to participants in the peanut avoidance arm to select statistically important features for the classification and regression tree (CART) analysis to group infants based on their risk of peanut allergy at 60 months of age. Intervention effects were estimated for each derived risk subgroup using data from both arms. Our main model was generated based on baseline data when the participants were 4-11 months old. Specific IgE measurements were truncated to account for the limit of detection commonly used by laboratories in clinical practice. RESULTS: The model found infants with higher predicted probability of peanut allergy at 60 months of age had a similar relative risk reduction, but a greater absolute risk reduction in peanut allergy with early introduction of peanut, than those with lower probability. The intervention effects were significant across all risk subgroups. Participants with baseline peanut sIgE ≥0.22 kU/L (n = 78) had an absolute risk reduction of 40.4% (95% CI 27.3, 51.9) whereas participants with baseline peanut sIgE<0.22 kU/L and baseline Ara h 2 sIgE <0.10 kU/L (n = 226) had an absolute risk reduction of 6.5% (95% CI 2.6, 11.0). These findings were consistent in sensitivity analyses using alternative models. CONCLUSION: In this study, risk subgroups were determined among infants from the LEAP trial based on the probability of developing peanut allergy and the intervention effects of early peanut introduction were estimated. This may be relevant for further risk assessment and personalized clinical decision-making.

Soil compaction is a global problem causing inadequate rooting and poor yield in crops. Accumulating evidence indicates that phytohormones coordinately regulate root growth via regulating specific growth processes in distinct tissues. However, how abscisic acid (ABA) signaling translates into auxin production to control root growth during adaptation to different soil environments is still unclear. In this study, we report that ABA has biphasic effects on primary root growth in rice (Oryza sativa) through an auxin biosynthesis-mediated process, causing suppression of root elongation and promotion of root swelling in response to soil compaction. We found that ABA treatment induced the expression of auxin biosynthesis genes and auxin accumulation in roots. Conversely, blocking auxin biosynthesis reduced ABA sensitivity in roots, showing longer and thinner primary roots with larger root meristem size and smaller root diameter. Further investigation revealed that the transcription factor basic region and leucine zipper 46 (OsbZIP46), involved in ABA signaling, can directly bind to the YUCCA8/rice ethylene-insensitive 7 (OsYUC8/REIN7) promoter to activate its expression, and genetic analysis revealed that OsYUC8/REIN7 is located downstream of OsbZIP46. Moreover, roots of mutants defective in ABA or auxin biosynthesis displayed the enhanced ability to penetrate compacted soil. Thus, our results disclose the mechanism in which ABA employs auxin as a downstream signal to modify root elongation and radial expansion, resulting in short and swollen roots impaired in their ability to penetrate compacted soil. These findings provide avenues for breeders to select crops resilient to soil compaction.

Electronical properties of top gate amorphous InGaZnO4thin film transistors (TFTs) could be controlled by post-annealing treatment, which has a great impact on the Al2O3insulator. To investigate the effect of post-annealing on Al2O3, Al/Al2O3/p-Si MOS capacitoras with Al2O3films treated under various post-deposition annealing (PDA) temperature were employed to analysis the change of electrical properties, surface morphology, and chemical components by electrical voltage scanning, atomic force microscope (AFM), and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) technologies. After PDA treatment, the top gate TFTs had a mobility about 7 cm2V-1s-1and the minimum subthreshold swing (SS) about 0.11 V/dec, and the threshold voltage (Vth) shifted from positive direction to negative direction as the post-annealing temperature increased. Electrical properties of MOS capacitors revealed the existence of positive fixed charges and the variation of trap state density with increasing PDA temperature, and further explained the change of negative bias stress (NBS) stability in TFT. AFM results clarified the increased leakage current, degraded SS, and NBS stability in MOS capacitors and TFTs, respectively. XPS results not only illuminated the origin of fixed charges and the trap density variation with PDA temperatures of Al2O3films, but also showed the O and H diffusion from Al2O3into IGZO during post-annealing process, which led to the deviation ofVth, the change of current density, and the negativeVthshift after positive bias stress in TFTs.

Pertechnetate (99TcO4-), a physiologically toxic radioactive anion, is of great concern due to its high mobility in environmental contamination remediation. Although the soluble oxyanion can be photoreduced to sparingly soluble TcO2·nH2O, its effective removal from a strongly acidic aqueous solution remains a challenge. Here, we found that low-crystalline nitrogen-doped titanium oxide (N-TiO2, 0.6 g L-1) could effectively uptake perrhenate (ReO4-, 10 mg L-1, a nonradioactive surrogate for TcO4-) with 50.8% during 360 min under simulated sunlight irradiation at pH 1.0, but P25 and anatase could not. The nitrogen active center formed by trace nitrogen doping in N-TiO2 can promote the separation and transfer of photogenerated carriers. The positive valence band value of N-TiO2 is slightly higher than those of P25 and anatase, which means that the photogenerated holes have a stronger oxidizability. These holes are involved in the formation of strong reducing •CO2- radicals from formic acid oxidation. The active radicals convert ReO4- to Re(VI), which is subsequently disproportionated to Re(IV) and Re(VII). Effective photocatalytic reduction/removal of Re(VII)/Tc(VII) is performed on the material, which may be considered a potential and convenient strategy for technetium decontamination and extraction in a strongly acidic aqueous solution.

Stripe rust, caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici (Pst), is one of the main diseases of wheat worldwide. Mianyang of Sichuan province in Southwest China is one of main regions for winter Pst inoculum production and spring epidemic and provides urediniospores for infecting wheat in the surrounding regions. Understanding the urediniospore dynamics is important to predict and manage stripe rust. In this study, spore trapping coupled with a TaqMan real-time quantitative PCR method was used to monitor airborne Pst urediniospores from December 2019 to December 2022 in Mianyang. Weather conditions (temperature, relative humidity, daily sunshine duration, and precipitation) were collected for the same period. These data were used to study the relationship of airborne urediniospore density with climatic conditions. The results showed that Pst urediniospores were captured all year round, and the annual peak of urediniospore densities occurred in the period from March to April in which the urediniospores accounted for the largest proportion of the annual total urediniospores. The density of urediniospores in the period of March to April was linearly related to the average sunshine duration of 20 days and average temperature of 15 days prior to the final day of a 7-day trapping period. This relationship needs to be tested in other regions where Pst can sporulate during the winter before it can be integrated with Pst infection conditions to predict rust development.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of the contrast-enhancement-boost (CE-boost) postprocessing technique on improving the image quality of obese patients in computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA) compared to hybrid iterative reconstruction (HIR) and model-based iterative reconstruction (MBIR) algorithms. METHODS: This prospective study was conducted on 100 patients who underwent CTPA for suspected pulmonary embolism. Non-obese patients with a body mass index (BMI) under 25 were designated as group 1, while obese patients (group 2) had a BMI exceeding 25. The CE-boost images were generated by subtracting non-contrast HIR images from contrast-enhanced HIR images to improve the visibility of pulmonary arteries further. The CT value, image noise, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) were quantitatively assessed. Two chest radiologists independently reviewed the CT images (5, best; 1, worst) across three subjective characteristics including diagnostic confidence, subjective image noise, and vascular contrast. The Friedman test and Dunn-Bonferroni correction were used for statistical analysis. RESULTS: The CE-boost had significantly higher CT values than HIR and MBIR in both groups (all p < 0.001). The MBIR yielded the lowest image noise compared with HIR and CE-boost (all p < 0.001). The SNR and CNR of main pulmonary artery (MPA) were significantly higher in CE-boost than in MBIR (all p < 0.05), with HIR showing the lowest values (all p < 0.001). Group 2 MBIR received significantly better subjective image noise scores, while the diagnostic confidence and vascular contrast scored highest with the group 2 CE-boost (all p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Compared to the HIR algorithm, both the CE-boost technique and the MBIR algorithm can improve the image quality of CTPA in obese patients. CE-boost had the greatest potential in increasing the visualization of pulmonary artery and its branches.

In order to explore the extraction and activity of macroalge glycolipids, six macroalgae (Bangia fusco-purpurea, Gelidium amansii, Gloiopeltis furcata, Gracilariopsis lemaneiformis, Gracilaria sp. and Pyropia yezoensis) glycolipids were extracted with five different solvents firstly. Considering the yield and glycolipids concentration of extracts, Bangia fusco-purpurea, Gracilaria sp. and Pyropia yezoensis were selected from six species of marine macroalgae as the raw materials for the extraction of glycolipids. The effects of the volume score of methanol, solid-liquid ratio, extraction temperature, extraction time and ultrasonic power on the yield and glycolipids concentration of extracts of the above three macroalgae were analyzed through a series of single-factor experiments. By analyzing the antioxidant activity in vitro, moisture absorption and moisturizing activity, the extraction process of Bangia fusco-purpurea glycolipids was further optimized by response surface method to obtain suitable conditions for glycolipid extraction (solid-liquid ratio of 1:27 g/mL, extraction temperature of 48 °C, extraction time of 98 min and ultrasonic power of 450 W). Bangia fusco-purpurea extracts exhibited a certain scavenging effect on DPPH free radicals, as well as good moisture-absorption and moisture retaining activities. Two glycolipids were isolated from Bangia fusco-purpurea by liquid-liquid extraction, silica gel column chromatography and thin-layer chromatography, and they showed good scavenging activities against DPPH free radicals and total antioxidant capacity. Their scavenging activities against DPPH free radicals were about 60% at 1600 µg/mL, and total antioxidant capacity was better than that of Trolox. Among them, the moisturizing activity of a glycolipid was close to that of sorbierite and sodium alginate. These two glycolipids exhibited big application potential as food humectants and antioxidants.

BACKGROUND: The study of disease progression relies on clinical data, including text data, and extracting valuable features from text data has been a research hot spot. With the rise of large language models (LLMs), semantic-based extraction pipelines are gaining acceptance in clinical research. However, the security and feature hallucination issues of LLMs require further attention. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to introduce a novel modular LLM pipeline, which could semantically extract features from textual patient admission records. METHODS: The pipeline was designed to process a systematic succession of concept extraction, aggregation, question generation, corpus extraction, and question-and-answer scale extraction, which was tested via 2 low-parameter LLMs: Qwen-14B-Chat (QWEN) and Baichuan2-13B-Chat (BAICHUAN). A data set of 25,709 pregnancy cases from the People's Hospital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, was used for evaluation with the help of a local expert's annotation. The pipeline was evaluated with the metrics of accuracy and precision, null ratio, and time consumption. Additionally, we evaluated its performance via a quantified version of Qwen-14B-Chat on a consumer-grade GPU. RESULTS: The pipeline demonstrates a high level of precision in feature extraction, as evidenced by the accuracy and precision results of Qwen-14B-Chat (95.52% and 92.93%, respectively) and Baichuan2-13B-Chat (95.86% and 90.08%, respectively). Furthermore, the pipeline exhibited low null ratios and variable time consumption. The INT4-quantified version of QWEN delivered an enhanced performance with 97.28% accuracy and a 0% null ratio. CONCLUSIONS: The pipeline exhibited consistent performance across different LLMs and efficiently extracted clinical features from textual data. It also showed reliable performance on consumer-grade hardware. This approach offers a viable and effective solution for mining clinical research data from textual records.

Quinolone antibiotics are widely utilized in aquaculture, but little is known about the health effects of their residues. This study used UPLC-MS/MS to analyze the distribution of 11 quinolone antibiotics in cultured fish sold in a coastal city in southeast China - Fujian Province and to assess their health risks. The study found 35.77% of 260 cultured fish samples detected quinolones, with three exceeding the MRL and one containing the banned drug ofloxacin. Of the 11 quinolones tested, three were found in cultured fish, with enrofloxacin at up to 246.0 µg kg-1, followed by ciprofloxacin and ofloxacin. The distribution of antibiotic detection rates showed no significant differences across regions or time periods; however, notable variations were observed among different fish species. The dietary exposure assessment revealed that consuming cultured fish does not pose a health risk to residents. Nevertheless, there are still instances that exceed regulatory limits. Therefore, routine monitoring and risk assessment are essential for enhancing regulatory measures and protecting public health.

Resistance to Pseudomonas syringae pv. maculicola 1 (RPM1)-induced protein kinase (RIPK) in Arabidopsis belongs to the receptor-like cytoplasmic kinase (RLCK) family and plays a vital role in immunity. However, the role of RLCKs in the high-temperature seedling-plant (HTSP) resistance of wheat (Triticum aestivum) to Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici (Pst), the stripe rust pathogen, remains unclear. Here, we identified a homologous gene of RIPK in wheat, namely TaRIPK. Expression of TaRIPK was induced by Pst inoculation and high temperatures. Silencing of TaRIPK reduced the expression level of TaRPM1, resulting in weaker HTSP resistance. Moreover, TaRIPK interacts with and phosphorylates papain-like cysteine protease 1 (TaPLCP1). Meanwhile, we found that the Pst-secreted protein PSTG_01766 targets TaPLCP1. Transient expression of PSTG_01766 inhibited basal immunity in tobacco (Nicotiana benthamiana) and wheat. The role of PSTG_01766 as an effector involved in HTSP resistance was further supported by host-induced gene silencing and bacterial type three secretion system-mediated delivery into wheat. PSTG_01766 inhibited the TaRIPK-induced phosphorylation of TaPLCP1. Furthermore, PSTG_01766 has the potential to influence the subcellular localization of TaPLCP1. Overall, we suggest that the TaRIPK-TaPLCP1-TaRPM1 module fits the guard model for disease resistance, participating in HTSP resistance. PSTG_01766 decreases HTSP resistance via targeting TaPLCP1. Guarded by wheat and attacked by Pst, TaPLCP1 may serve as a central hub of the defense response. Our findings improve the understanding of the molecular mechanism of wheat HTSP resistance, which may be an important strategy for controlling stripe rust in the face of global warming.

Rice (Oryza sativa) germination and seedling establishment, particularly in increasingly saline soils, are critical to ensure successful crop yields. Seed vigor, which determines germination and seedling growth, is a complex trait affected by exogenous (environmental) and endogenous (hormonal) factors. Here, we used genetic and biochemical analyses to uncover the role of an APETALA2-type transcription factor, SALT AND ABA RESPONSE ERF1 (OsSAE1), as a positive regulator of seed germination and salt tolerance in rice by repressing the expression of ABSCISIC ACID-INSENSITIVE5 (OsABI5). ossae1 knockout lines exhibited delayed seed germination, enhanced sensitivity to abscisic acid (ABA) during germination and in early seedling growth, and reduced seedling salt tolerance. OsSAE1 overexpression lines exhibited the converse phenotype, with increased seed germination and salt tolerance. In vivo and in vitro assays indicated that OsSAE1 binds directly to the promoter of OsABI5, a major downstream component of the ABA signaling pathway and acts as a major regulator of seed germination and stress response. Genetic analyses revealed that OsABI5-mediated ABA signaling functions downstream of OsSAE1. This study provides important insights into OsSAE1 regulation of seed vigor and salt tolerance and facilitates the practical use of OsSAE1 in breeding salt-tolerant varieties suitable for direct seeding cultivation.

Metamaterials, thoughtfully designed, have demonstrated remarkable success in the manipulation of electromagnetic waves. More recently, deep learning can advance the performance in the field of metamaterial inverse design. However, existing inverse design methods based on deep learning often overlook potential trade-offs of optimal design and outcome diversity. To address this issue, in this work we introduce contrastive learning to implement a simple but effective global ranking inverse design framework. Viewing inverse design as spectrum-guided ranking of the candidate structures, our method creates a resemblance relationship of the optical response and metamaterials, enabling the prediction of diverse structures of metamaterials based on the global ranking. Furthermore, we have combined transfer learning to enrich our framework, not limited in prediction of single metamaterial representation. Our work can offer inverse design evaluation and diverse outcomes. The proposed method may shrink the gap between flexibility and accuracy of on-demand design.

This Letter introduces a novel laser emission probe for liquid-crystal microspheres based on a tapered fiber. A cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) is injected into a hollow glass microsphere (HGM) attached at the front end of a tapered fiber in order to produce laser. Tapered fibers are preferable to rectangular fibers for liquid-crystal microsphere laser emission. The whispering gallery mode (WGM) laser is significantly suppressed by the tapered fiber-based liquid-crystal microsphere, which also displays an apparent single-mode photonic bandgap (PBG) laser peak. The stimulation response of tapered fiber-based liquid-crystal microspheres to organic vapors causes a modification of the laser peak wavelength with increasing gas concentration. In addition, laser emission generated by tapered fiber-based liquid-crystal microspheres is expected to be used in fields such as microenvironmental biosensing.
