BACKGROUND: In the beef industry, bull calves are usually castrated to improve flavor and meat quality; however, this can reduce their growth and slaughter performance. The gut microbiota is known to exert a significant influence on growth and slaughter performance. However, there is a paucity of research investigating the impact of castration on gut microbiota composition and its subsequent effects on slaughter performance and meat flavor. RESULT: The objective of this study was to examine the processes via which castration hinders slaughter productivity and enhances meat quality. Bull and castrated calves were maintained under the same management conditions, and at slaughter, meat quality was assessed, and ileum and epithelial tissue samples were obtained. The research employed metagenomic sequencing and non-targeted metabolomics techniques to investigate the makeup of the microbiota and identify differential metabolites. The findings of this study revealed the Carcass weight and eye muscle area /carcass weight in the bull group were significantly higher than those in the steer group. There were no significant differences in the length, width, and crypt depth of the ileum villi between the two groups. A total of 53 flavor compounds were identified in the two groups of beef, of which 16 were significantly higher in the steer group than in the bull group, and 5 were significantly higher in the bull group than in the steer group. In addition, bacteria, Eukaryota, and virus species were significantly separated between the two groups. The lipid metabolism pathways of α-linolenic acid, linoleic acid, and unsaturated fatty acids were significantly enriched in the Steers group. Compared with the steer group, the organic system pathway is significantly enriched in the bull group. The study also found that five metabolites (LPC (0:0/20:3), LPC (20:3/0:0), LPE (0:0/22:5), LPE (22:5/0:0), D-Mannosamine), and three species (s_Cloning_vector_Hsp70_LexA-HP1, s_Bacteroides_Coprophilus_CAG: 333, and s_Clostridium_nexile-CAG: 348) interfere with each other and collectively have a positive impact on the flavor compounds of beef. CONCLUSIONS: These findings provide a basic understanding that under the same management conditions, castration does indeed reduce the slaughter performance of bulls and improve the flavor of beef. Microorganisms and metabolites contribute to these changes through interactions.

Fractures are frequent and severe musculoskeletal injuries. This study aimed to investigate the function of tenascin-C (TNC) in regulating chondrogenic during fracture healing and elucidate the underlying molecular mechanisms. A well-established femur fracture model in male C57BL/6J mice was used to transect the middle diaphysis of the femur. To identify the essential role of TNC, shTNC lentiviruses or TNC protein were administered in the animal model. Micro-CT analysis, histologic analysis, immunostaining assays, and gene expression analysis were employed to investigate the effect of TNC during fracture healing. An in vitro mesenchymal stem cell culture system was developed to investigate the role and molecular mechanism of TNC in regulating chondrogenesis. TNC expression was induced at the inflammatory phase and peaked at the cartilaginous callus phase during fracture healing. Knockdown of TNC expression in callus results in decreased callus formation and impaired fracture healing. Conversely, administration of exogenous TNC promoted chondrogenic differentiation, cartilage template formation and ultimately improved fracture healing. Both the Hedgehog and Hippo signaling pathways were found to be involved in the pro-chondrogenic function of TNC. Our observations demonstrate that TNC is a crucial factor responsible for endochondral ossification in fracture healing and provide a potential therapeutic strategy for promoting fracture healing.

PURPOSE: Postoperative surgical site infection is one of the most serious complications following spine surgery. Previous studies have reported Modic changes (MC) represent a subclinical infection. This study aims to investigate the relation between Modic changes and surgical site infection after posterior lumbar fusion surgery. METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the records of 424 patients who received posterior lumbar fusion. Preoperative clinical and radiological parameters were recorded. Primary outcome was the rate of postoperative surgical site infection. Covariates included age, body mass index (BMI), sex, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, chronic heart failure, Pfirrmann classification, fused levels, and operation duration. The presence of Modic changes was used as an exposition variable, and adjusted for other risk factors in multivariate analyses. RESULTS: Of the 424 patients, 30 (7%) developed an acute surgical site infection. Infection had no relation to age, sex, BMI, and comorbidities. There were 212 (50%) patients with MC, and 23 (10.8%) had a surgical site infection, compared to 212 (50%) patients without MC in which there were 7 (3.3%) surgical site infections. MC was associated with surgical site infection in univariate analysis (odds ratio [OR] = 3.56, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.49-8.50, p = 0.004) and multivariate logistic regression analysis (OR = 3.05, 95% CI: 1.26-7.37, p = 0.013). There was statistically significant between specific type (p = 0.035) and grade of MCs (p = 0.0187) and SSI. CONCLUSIONS: MCs may be a potential risk factor for SSI following posterior lumbar spinal intervertebral fusion. Type I and grade C MCs showed a higher infection rate compared with other MC types and grades.

Strain sensors have been attracting tremendous attention for the promising application of wearable devices in recent years. However, the trade-off between high resolution, high sensitivity, and broad detection range is a great challenge for the application of strain sensors. Herein, a novel design of hierarchical synergistic structure (HSS) of Au micro cracks and carbon black (CB) nanoparticles is reported to overcome this challenge. The strain sensor based on the designed HSS exhibit high sensitivity (GF > 2400), high strain resolution (0.2%) even under large loading strain, broad detection range (>40%), outstanding stability (>12000 cycles), and fast response speed simultaneously. Further, the experiments and simulation results demonstrate that the carbon black layer greatly changed the morphology of Au micro-cracks, forming a hierarchical structure of micro-scale Au cracks and nano-scale carbon black particles, thus enabling synergistic effect and the double conductive network of Au micro-cracks and CB nanoparticles. Based on the excellent performance, the sensor is successfully applied to monitoring tiny signals of the carotid pulse during body movement, which illustrates the great potential in the application of health monitoring, human-machine interface, human motion detection, and electronic skin.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to identify the role of Piezo1-mediated mechanotransduction in entheseal pathological new bone formation and to explore the underlying molecular mechanism. METHODS: Spinal ligament tissues were collected from 14 patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and 14 non-AS controls and bulk RNA sequencing was conducted. Collagen antibody-induced arthritis models were established to observe pathological new bone formation. Pharmacological inhibition and genetic ablation of Piezo1 was performed in animal models to identify the essential role of Piezo1. Entheseal osteo-chondral lineage cells were collected and in vitro cell culture system was established to study the role and underlying mechanism of Piezo1 in regulation of chondrogenesis, osteogenesis and its own expression. RESULTS: Piezo1 was aberrantly upregulated in ligaments and entheseal tissues from patients with AS and animal models. Pharmaceutical and genetic inhibition of Piezo1 attenuated while activation of Piezo1 promoted pathological new bone formation. Mechanistically, activation of CaMKII (Calcium/calmodulin dependent protein kinase II) signalling was found essential for Piezo1-mediated mechanotransduction. In addition, Piezo1 was upregulated by AS-associated inflammatory cytokines. CONCLUSION: Piezo1-mediated mechanotransduction promotes entheseal pathological new bone formation through CaMKII signalling in AS.

PURPOSE: In this study, we intended to investigate the association between immediate postoperative hypoalbuminemia and surgical site infection (SSI), and determine a threshold value for postoperative hypoalbuminemia that can assist in risk stratification in patients after posterior lumbar fusion surgery. METHODS: From January 2017 to December 2021, 466 consecutive patients who underwent posterior lumbar fusion surgery were selected to analyze the relationship between immediate postoperative hypoalbuminemia and SSI. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to identify the independent risk factors of SSI and postoperative hypoalbuminemia. Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) analysis was used to determine the optimal value for postoperative hypoalbuminemia, and subsequent grouping was based on the identified threshold. RESULTS: Of the total 466 patients, 25 patients (5.4%) developed SSI after surgery, and lower postoperative albumin (OR: 0.716, 95% CI: 0.611-0.840, p < 0.001) was independently associated with SSI. ROC analysis showed that the cutoff value of postoperative hypoalbuminemia was 32 g/L with a sensitivity of 0.760, specificity of 0.844, and a Youden index of 0.604. Postoperative SSI was more common in patients with postoperative hypoalbuminemia than in those without (21.6% vs. 1.6%, p < 0.001). Age, gender and operative duration were found to be independent predictors of postoperative hypoalbuminemia. CONCLUSIONS: This study showed that immediate postoperative hypoalbuminemia was an independent risk factor for the development of SSI in patients who underwent posterior lumbar fusion. Even in patients with a normal preoperative serum albumin level, there was an increased risk of SSI when the postoperative albumin within 24 h was < 32 g/L.

RESUMO

We sequenced DNA from spleens of rodents captured in rural areas of Qingdao, East China, during 2013-2015. We found 1 Apodemus agrarius mouse infected with Rickettsia conorii, indicating a natural Mediterranean spotted fever foci exists in East China and that the range of R. conorii could be expanding.

In recent years, high-power, tunable terahertz (THZ) radiation sources have become the key areas of research in the world. The method of THZ waves by nonlinear optical difference frequency generation (DFG) has the advantages of wide tuning, high power, room temperature operation, and compact structure. However, the conversion efficiency of the current difference frequency method is low, which needs a trade-off between conversion efficiency and tuning range. We apply the nonlinear optical cascade difference frequency conversion theory based on stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (STIRAP) and propose a theoretical scheme to generate THZ waves. Numerical simulation investigates the cascaded difference frequency process of generating THZ waves with the help of the nonlinear medium lithium niobate (LN) crystal. The theoretical analysis shows that the maximum quantum conversion efficiency from signal laser to THZ waves is 43.2 % when the wavelength of the tuned signal laser varies between 1.044 - 1.065 µm with the fixed two pump laser wavelengths constant. The tunable THZ waves of 0.48 - 5.0 THz can be obtained and the maximum output intensity of THZ waves is 2.17 MW/cm2, and the method is robust to temperature variations. It also provides a novel idea for the cascaded difference frequency generation of THZ waves.

The hydrolytic acidification process has a strong ability to conduct denitrogenation and increase the biological oxygen demand/chemical oxygen demand ratio in O/H/O coking wastewater treatment system. More than 80% of the total nitrogen (TN) was removed in the hydrolytic bioreactor, and the hydrolytic acidification process contributed to the provision of carbon sources for the subsequent nitrification process. The structure and diversity of microbial communities were elaborated using high-throughput MiSeq of the 16S rRNA genes. The results revealed that the operational taxonomic units (OTUs) belonged to phyla Bacteroidetes, Betaproteobacteria, and Alphaproteobacteria were the dominant taxa involved in the denitrogenation and degradation of refractory contaminants in the hydrolytic bioreactor, with relative abundances of 22.94 ± 3.72, 29.77 ± 2.47, and 18.23 ± 0.26%, respectively. The results of a redundancy analysis showed that the OTUs belonged to the genera Thiobacillus, Rhodoplanes, and Hylemonella in the hydrolytic bioreactor strongly positively correlated with the chemical oxygen demand, TN, and the removal of phenolics, respectively. The results of a microbial co-occurrence network analysis showed that the OTUs belonged to the phylum Bacteroidetes and the genus Rhodoplanes had a significant impact on the efficiency of removal of contaminants that contained nitrogen in the hydrolytic bioreactor. The potential function profiling results indicate the complementarity of nitrogen metabolism, methane metabolism, and sulfur metabolism sub-pathways that were considered to play a significant role in the process of denitrification. These results provide new insights into the further optimization of the performance of the hydrolytic bioreactor in coking wastewater treatment.

The incidence rate of human uterine leiomyomas is over 70% in the women of childbearing age, which has caused serious health and financial burden. Our previous study confirmed that Bisphenol A (BPA),representative environmental estrogen, promoted the proliferation of human uterine leiomyomas and up-regulated the expression of cell proliferation-related genes. In this study, by combining ChIP-seq and RNA-seq, it was shown that after BPA intervention, H3K27ac modification levels and gene expression levels were altered in uterine leiomyomas cells. Moreover experimental verification found that BPA can regulate ITGA2 through the transcription factor XBP1, activate the downstream PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, eventually promote the proliferation of uterine leiomyomas. The present study provides new insights into the pathogenesis associated with exposure to BPA and other endocrine disruptors with similar effects by defining XBP1 as an important regulator, and which may act as an intervention and treatment target for uterine leiomyomas.

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to identify the role of tenascin-C (TNC) in entheseal new bone formation and to explore the underlying molecular mechanism. METHODS: Ligament tissue samples were obtained from patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) during surgery. Collagen antibody-induced arthritis and DBA/1 models were established to observe entheseal new bone formation. TNC expression was determined by immunohistochemistry staining. Systemic inhibition or genetic ablation of TNC was performed in animal models. Mechanical properties of extracellular matrix (ECM) were measured by atomic force microscopy. Downstream pathway of TNC was analysed by RNA sequencing and confirmed with pharmacological modulation both in vitro and in vivo. Cellular source of TNC was analysed by single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and confirmed by immunofluorescence staining. RESULTS: TNC was aberrantly upregulated in ligament and entheseal tissues from patients with AS and animal models. TNC inhibition significantly suppressed entheseal new bone formation. Functional assays revealed that TNC promoted new bone formation by enhancing chondrogenic differentiation during endochondral ossification. Mechanistically, TNC suppressed the adhesion force of ECM, resulting in the activation of downstream Hippo/yes-associated protein signalling, which in turn increased the expression of chondrogenic genes. scRNA-seq and immunofluorescence staining further revealed that TNC was majorly secreted by fibroblast-specific protein-1 (FSP1)+fibroblasts in the entheseal inflammatory microenvironment. CONCLUSION: Inflammation-induced aberrant expression of TNC by FSP1+fibroblasts promotes entheseal new bone formation by suppressing ECM adhesion forces and activating Hippo signalling.

PURPOSE: To investigate the perioperative complications of lateral anterior lumbar interbody fusion (LaLIF) surgery. METHODS: The participants were patients who underwent LaLIF surgery for degenerative lumbar diseases between April 2016 and November 2020. The collected data were classified into intraoperative and early-stage postoperative (1 month) complications. Intraoperative complications were subcategorized into nerve root injury, sympathetic chain injury, segmental artery injury, iliolumbar vein injury, peritoneum laceration, temporary psoas injury, endplate damage, and vertebral body fractures. Postoperative complications were subcategorized into surgical site infection, cage migration, cage subsidence and psoas major hematoma. RESULTS: In the 255 included patients, 39 complications (15.3%) were reported. One patient (0.4%) had residual neurological symptoms (numbness) at the last follow-up after conservative management. The most common complications were temporary psoas injury (3.9%), followed by sympathetic chain injury (2.7%) and endplate damage (2.0%). The most frequent postoperative complication was cage migration (1.6%), followed by cage subsidence (1.2%), and surgical site infection (0.8%). CONCLUSION: The complication rates for LaLIF are generally low and comparable to those for conventional OLIF and XLIF that have been reported in other studies. Almost all complications were transient after LaLIF. Severe complications can be avoided by using sufficient muscle relaxant, instruments with the required characteristics and vertical trajectories in multiple steps.

PURPOSE: To analyze the correlation between immediate postoperative coronal imbalance and the matching degree of the correction rates of the main curve and compensatory curves in the surgical treatment of severe adult idiopathic scoliosis. METHODS: Patients were categorized into three types based on the preoperative coronal balance status (type A = balance, type B = shifted to cave side and type C = shifted to convex side), and each type was further divided into two subgroups based on the postoperative coronal balance status (balance and imbalance). Different coronal parameters before and after operations were calculated and compared. RESULTS: The rate of postoperative CIB was highest in type C patients (53.8%) and lowest in type A patients (31.5%). To avoid postoperative CIB, the value of the postoperative CRmain should fall within the range of 1.001 × CRcomp ± 2.84% in type A patients, 1.112 × CRcomp + 3.3% ± 5.02% in type B patients and 0.907 × CRcomp - 2.5% ± 4.38% in type C patients. CONCLUSION: Mismatch between the correction rates of the main curve and compensation curves is a critical cause of immediate postoperative CIB. The relatively equal correction of the main curve and compensatory curves is essential for type A patients to achieve postoperative coronal balance, while the correction rate of the main curve should be higher than the compensatory curves in type B patients and vice versa in type C patients. Three formulas for the three different types were developed to provide helpful guidance information for surgical planning.

PURPOSE: To analyze correlations between the realistic surgical difficulty of LaLIF and anatomic characteristics in radiographic images, in order to develop a simple classification to provide guiding information for case selection and evaluate the potential risks of the technique. METHODS: Ninety-six consecutive cases who underwent LaLIF surgeries at the L4-5 level with MR T2-weighted images were analyzed. A novel classification based on the anatomic relationships among the disk, great vessels, and psoas muscle was used for grouping. Clinical outcomes and realistic surgical difficulty parameters were recorded, and comparisons were made among different types of classifications. RESULTS: Of the 96 analyzed cases, the time of surgical exposure was significantly longer for type C than for type B, and both of these were longer than that of type A. The VAS and ODI were significantly improved at a 1-year follow-up. There was no statistically significant difference among the three types. Type C had the highest incidence of complications, while Type A had the lowest. Analyses of another 304 MRI cases obtained in outpatient clinics showed that the distribution of the three types among these cases was consistent with that of the surgical cohort. CONCLUSION: Our novel and simple classification provides useful information for case selection. Type A provided the best indication and is most appropriate for a beginner in this technique. Type C includes the most challenging situations, which may have a high incidence of complications and require sophisticated surgical skills to achieve satisfactory outcomes and avoid approach-related complications.

OBJECTIVE: The study aimed to recognize potential molecular targets and signal pathways whereby phenolic environmental estrogen promotes the proliferation of uterine leiomyoma cells. METHODS: Primary cultured cell lines of uterine leiomyoma were treated with 0.1% DMSO, 10.0µmol/L Bisphenol A (BPA), and 32.0µmol/L Nonylphenol (NP) for 48 h before RNA-seq was performed. Those genes affected by BPA and NP were identified. Then, Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment, and Protein-protein Interaction (PPI) analysis were performed. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (q-PCR) and western blot were used to verify the differentially expressed gene and protein. RESULTS: Compared to with the control group, 739 differentially expressed genes were identified in both the BPA group and the NP group. GO enrichment analysis showed that the most enriched GO terms were connective tissue development and G1/S transition of mitotic cell cycle, and extracellular matrix. The results of KEGG enrichment analysis showed that differentially expressed mRNA were enriched mainly in three primary pathways, including environmental information processing, human diseases, and cellular processes. The cell cycle, PI3K-Akt signaling pathway are significantly enriched. The q-PCR and western blot verified the cell cycle associated genes and proteins were upregulated in both BPA group and NP group. Both BPA and NP activated the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway. CONCLUSION: Phenolic environmental estrogens may promote the proliferation and cell cycle progression of uterine leiomyoma cells through rapid non-genomic ER signaling, which leads to disordered cell cycle regulation and accelerates the transition of the cell cycle from G0/G1 phase to S phase. In addition, as an external stimulant, phenolic estrogen promotes the upregulation of inflammatory factors in uterine leiomyomas.

OBJECTIVE: To improve the accuracy of clinical diagnosis by analyzing different contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) imagines of specific subtypes of uterine leiomyomas. METHODS: A total of 147 female patients received preoperative CEUS examination. The scanning plane of the biggest tumors for CEUS was found by common B-mode ultrasonographic scanning on pelvic cavity, then 1.5 mL SonoVue were injected into the median cubital vein. According to the CEUS images, the lesion enhanced time, enhanced level and enhanced morphology were recorded. The time-intensity curve was acquired and analyzed, meanwhile, the relevant parameters were calculated, including rise time (RT), peak intensity (PI), time to peak (TTP) and mean transit time (MTT). RESULTS: In cellular uterine leiomyoma group, the percentage of high enhancement, early enhancement was higher, equal enhancement and synchronic enhancement were lower than those in the common uterine leiomyomas group. In hysteromyoma with hyaline degeneration group, the percentage of high enhancement, early enhancement was lower, while low enhancement and delayed enhancement were higher than those in the common uterine leiomyomas group. The ratio of PI in cellular uterine leiomyoma group was the highest, but the ratios of RT, TTP and MTT were the lowest of the three benign groups. The ratio of PI in hysteromyoma with hyaline degeneration group was the lowest, while the ratios of RT and TTP was the highest among the three benign groups. CONCLUSION: Different pathological types of uterine leiomyomas have their own signal performance on CEUS. CEUS can be used to infer their pathological types and help differential diagnosis.

We identified Candidatus Borrelia fainii, a human pathogenic bacterium causing New World relapsing fever in a Myotis bat in eastern China. This finding expands knowledge about the geographic distribution of Borrelia spp. and the potential for infection with New World relapsing fever in China.

Accurate determination of microbial viability can be crucial in microbe-dominated biosystems. However, the identification of metabolic decay in bacterial cells can be elaborate and difficult. We sought to identify apoptosis-like bacterial processes by using annexin V-fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) (AVF), a probe typically used to stain phosphatidylserine (PS) on exposed cell membranes. The bacterial cell wall provides a barrier that is responsible for low efficiency of direct PS staining of decayed bacterial cells. This can be overcome by pretreatment of the bacteria with 70% ethanol, which fixates the bacteria and preserves the PS status, combined with lysozyme treatment to hydrolyze the cell wall. That treatment improved the efficiency of AVF staining considerably, as shown for pure strains of an Ochrobactrum sp. and a Micrococcus sp. Using this method, decayed bacterial cells (induced by starvation) were more strongly stained, indicating externalization of PS to a greater extent than seen for cells harvested at logarithmic growth. A multispecies microbial sludge was artificially decayed by heat treatment or alternating anoxic-oxic treatment, which also induced increased AVF staining, again presumably via decay-related PS externalization. The method developed proved to be efficient for identification of bacterial decay and has potential for the evaluation of multispecies bacterial samples from sources like soil matrix, bioaerosol, and activated sludge.IMPORTANCE Since the externalization of phosphatidylserine (PS) is considered a crucial characteristic of apoptosis, we sought to identify apoptosis-like decay in bacterial cells by PS staining using AVF. We show that this is possible, provided the bacteria are pretreated with ethanol plus lysozyme to remove a physical staining barrier and preserve the original, decay-related externalization of PS. Our work suggests that PS externalization occurs in starved bacteria and this can be quantified with AVF staining, providing a measure of bacterial decay. Since PS is the common component of the lipid bilayer in bacterial cell membranes, this approach also has potential for evaluation of cell decay of other bacterial species.

Growing evidence shows that the inhibitory effect of inflammatory cytokines on new bone formation by osteogenic precursor cells is a critical cause of net bone-density reduction. Melatonin has been proven to be a potential therapeutic candidate for osteoporosis. However, whether it is capable of antagonizing the suppressing effect of inflammatory cytokines on osteogenic precursor cells is so far elusive. In this study, using the cell culture system of human bone marrow stromal cells and MC3T3-E1 preosteoblasts, we recorded the following vital observations that provided insights of melatonin-induced bone formation: 1) melatonin induced bone formation in both normal and inflammatory conditions; 2) Wnt4 was essential for melatonin-induced bone formation in inflammatory stimulation; 3) melatonin- and Wnt4-induced bone formation occurred via activation of ß-catenin and p38-JNK MAPK pathways by interaction with a distinct frizzled LDL receptor-related protein complex; 4) melatonin suppressed the inhibitory effect of NF-κB on osteogenesis in a Wnt4-dependent manner; and 5) melatonin induced Wnt4 expression through the ERK1/2-Pax2-Egr1 pathway. In summary, we showed a novel mechanism of melatonin-induced bone formation in an inflammatory environment. Melatonin-induced Wnt4 expression is essential for its osteoinductive effect and the inhibitory effect of NF-κB on bone formation. BACKGROUND This study aimed to investigate the value of CA125 dynamic change in PFS prediction for patients with epithelial ovarian carcinoma (EOC). MATERIAL AND METHODS Data analysis was performed using SPSS 24.0 statistical software with progression-free survival (PFS) as an outcome measure. Kaplan-Meier method was used to analyze the relationship between PFS and preoperative and postoperative NLR, PLR and CA125 levels, CA125 half-life, CA125-negative time, age, FIGO stage, histopathology, differentiation, vessel carcinoma embolus, and ascites. The survival curves were compared by the log-rank test. Based on the results of single-factor analysis, the Cox model was used for multifactor analysis to analyze independent risk factors affecting the PFS of epithelial ovarian carcinoma. RESULTS A total of 117 patients with EOC were selected from January 2012 to January 2019 to carry out a retrospective study. Univariate analyses showed that PFS of the patients with EOC was associated with differentiation, vessel carcinoma embolus, FIGO stage, CA125 half-life, CA12- negative time, and preoperative NLR (P<0.05). Multivariate analysis by the Cox model showed that vessel carcinoma embolus, CA125 half-life, differentiation, and preoperative NLR are the independent risk factors for PFS in patients with EOC. CONCLUSIONS The serum CA125 dynamic as reflected by CA125 half-life is the most important independent prognostic factor in patients with EOC. The simplicity of CA125 monitoring and its correlation with EOC patient survival can identify patients with poor prognosis through monitoring CA125 half-life, which can provide a reference value for use in clinical practice.
