RESUMO
A novel actinobacterium, strain HUAS 3T, was isolated from the rhizosphere soil of Cathaya argyrophylla collected in Hunan Province, PR China. Strain HUAS 3T contained meso-diaminopimelic acid in the cell-wall peptidoglycan. The dominant menaquinones were MK-9(H4), MK-9(H6), MK-10(H2) and MK-9(H4). The polar lipids consisted of diphosphatidylglycerol, phospholipids, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphotidylinositol and phosphatidylinositol mannosides. The main cellular fatty acids (>5.0â%) were C17â:â1 ω8c, iso-C16â:â0, C18â:â1 ω9c, iso-C15â:â0, C16â:â0 and summed feature 3 (C16â:â1 ω6c and/or C16â:â1 ω7c). The DNA G+C content of the novel strain's genome sequence, consisting of 7â196â442 bp, was 72.8âmol%. The full-length 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis indicated that strain HUAS 3T belonged to the genus Micromonospora and showed highest similarities to Micromonospora fluminis A38T (99.44â%), Micromonospora echinospora DSM 43816T (99.23â%), Micromonospora tulbaghiae DSM 45142T (99.23â%), Micromonospora solifontis PPF5-17T (99.16â%) and Micromonospora endolithica DSM 44398T (98.96â%). Phylogenetic trees based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain HUAS 3T was closely related to M. fluminis A38T, M. tulbaghiae DSM 45142T and M. solifontis PPF5-17T. The phylogenomic tree revealed that strain HUAS 3T was closely related to Micromonospora pallida DSM 43817T. However, the average nucleotide identity (ANIb/ANIm) and the digital DNA-DNA hybridization values between them were 84.75â/88.16 and 30.80â%, respectively, far less than the 95-96 and 70â% cut-off points recommended for delineating species. Furthermore, strain HUAS 3T was distinct from the type strain of M. pallida in terms of phenotypic and chemotaxonomic characteristics. In summary, strain HUAS 3T represents a novel Micromonospora species, for which the name Micromonospora cathayae sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is HUAS 3T (=MCCC 1K08599T=JCM 36275T).

The taxonomic relationship between Streptomyces violarus and Streptomyces violaceus was reevaluated using a polyphasic taxonomic approach in this work. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that Streptomyces violarus JCM 4534 T was closely related to Streptomyces arenae ISP 5293 T. However, phylogenetic analysis based on five house-keeping gene (atpD, gyrB, recA, rpoB and trpB) showed that the evolutionary neighbor of Streptomyces violarus JCM 4534 T was Streptomyces violaceus CGMCC 4.1456 T, suggesting that there was a close genetic relationship between these two strains. The average nucleotide identity and digital DNA-DNA hybridization values between them were 97.0 and 72.9%, respectively, greater than the 96.7 and 70% cut-off points recommended for delineating a Streptomyces species. This result indicated that they belonged to the same genomic species which was also verified by a comprehensive comparison of phenotypic and chemotaxonomic characteristics between Streptomyces violarus JCM 4534 T and Streptomyces violaceus CGMCC 4.1456 T. According to all these data and the rule of priority in nomenclature, it is proposed the Streptomyces violarus (Artamonova and Krassilnikov 1960) Pridham 1970 is a later heterotypic synonym of Streptomyces violaceus (Rossi Doria 1891) Waksman 1953. In addition, based on dDDH, Streptomyces violaceus and Streptomyces violarus are simultaneously designated as two different subspecies, i.e., Streptomyces violaceus subsp. violaceus and Streptomyces violaceus subsp. violarus.

Two actinomycete strains, designated MG62T and CRLD-Y-1, were isolated from rhizosphere soil of Koelreuteria paniculata and healthy leaves of Xanthium sibiricum, respectively, in Hunan province, PR China. They could produce abundant aerial mycelia that generated rod-shaped spores with spiny surfaces. Morphological features of the two strains are typical of the genus Streptomyces. Strains MG62T and CRLD-Y-1 exhibited 99.93â% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity. The average nucleotide identity (ANI) and digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) values between them were 99.99 and 100â%, respectively, suggesting that they belonged to the same species. 16S rRNA gene sequences analysis revealed that the two strains belonged to the genus Streptomyces and showed highest similarities to Streptomyces violarus NBRC 13104T (99.07-99.29â%) and Streptomyces arenae ISP 5293T (99.21-99.35â%). Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strains MG62T and CRLD-Y-1 were closely related to S. violarus NBRC 13104T and S. arenae ISP 5293T. However, the ANI, dDDH and multilocus sequence analysis evolutionary distance values between the two strains and their relatives provide a robust basis upon which to verify strains MG62T and CRLD-Y-1 as representing a novel species. Moreover, a comprehensive comparison of phenotypic and chemotaxonomic characteristics further confirmed that the two strains were distinct from their relatives. Based on all these data above, strains MG62T and CRLD-Y-1 should represent a novel Streptomyces species, for which the name Streptomyces koelreuteriae sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is MG62T (=JCM 34747T=MCCC 1K06175T).

A novel actinobacterium strain, HUAS 14-6T, was isolated from the healthy leaves of Camellia oleifera collected from Changde City, Hunan Province, China. Strain HUAS 14-6T produced tight spiral spore chains consisting of oval or spherical spores with a smooth surface. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that strain HUAS 14-6T belonged to the genus Streptomyces and shared highest similarity to Streptomyces bungoensis DSM 41781T (99.72%). Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated strain HUAS 14-6T was in a clade with S. bungoensis DSM 41781T. However, the ANIm and dDDH between strain HUAS 14-6T and S. bungoensis DSM 41781T were 88.16% and 31.2%, respectively, far less than the species-level thresholds. Phylogenetic trees based on the five housekeeping genes (atpD, gyrB, recA, rpoB and trpB) showed that strain HUAS 14-6T formed a separate branch, indicating that this strain could belong to a potential new species. Pairwise MLSA distances between strain HUAS 14-6T and all type strains exhibiting 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities of ≥98.7% to it were much higher than the maximum range of 0.014 recommended for delineating a new Streptomyces species. Based on polyphasic taxonomic study, HUAS 14-6T represents a novel species within the genus Streptomyces for which the name Streptomyces albidocamelliae sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is HUAS 14-6T (=MCCC 1K08365T=JCM 35920T).
