RESUMO

One of the primary concerns for the survival of the human species is the growing demand for food brought on by an increasing global population. New developments in genome-editing technology present promising opportunities for the growth of wholesome and prolific farm animals. Genome editing in large animals is used for a variety of purposes, including biotechnology to improve food production, animal health, and pest management, as well as the development of animal models for fundamental research and biomedicine. Genome editing entails modifying genetic material by removing, adding, or manipulating particular DNA sequences from a particular locus in a way that does not happen naturally. The three primary genome editors are CRISPR/Cas 9, TALENs, and ZFNs. Each of these enzymes is capable of precisely severing nuclear DNA at a predetermined location. One of the most effective inventions is base editing, which enables single base conversions without the requirement for a DNA double-strand break (DSB). As reliable methods for precise genome editing in studies involving animals, cytosine and adenine base editing are now well-established. Effective zygote editing with both cytosine and adenine base editors (ABE) has resulted in the production of animal models. Both base editors produced comparable outcomes for the precise editing of point mutations in somatic cells, advancing the field of gene therapy. This review focused on the principles, methods, recent developments, outstanding applications, the advantages and disadvantages of ZFNs, TALENs, and CRISPR/Cas9 base editors, and prime editing in diverse lab and farm animals. Additionally, we address the methodologies that can be used for gene regulation, base editing, and epigenetic alterations, as well as the significance of genome editing in animal models to better reflect real disease. We also look at methods designed to increase the effectiveness and precision of gene editing tools. Genome editing in large animals is used for a variety of purposes, including biotechnology to improve food production, animal health, and pest management, as well as the development of animal models for fundamental research and biomedicine. This review is an overview of the existing knowledge of the principles, methods, recent developments, outstanding applications, the advantages and disadvantages of zinc finger nucleases (ZFNs), transcription-activator-like endonucleases (TALENs), and clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats associated protein 9 (CRISPR/Cas 9), base editors and prime editing in diverse lab and farm animals, which will offer better and healthier products for the entire human race.

Musashi-2 (MSI2), implicated in the oncogenesis and propagation of a broad array of malignancies, inclusive of certain leukemia, remains a nascent field of study within the context of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Using lentiviral transfection, ALL cells with stable MSI2 knockdown were engineered. A suite of analytic techniques - a CCK-8 assay, flow cytometry, qRT-PCR, and western blotting - were employed to evaluate cellular proliferation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis and to confirm differential gene expression. The suppression of MSI2 expression yielded significant results: inhibition of cell proliferation, G0/G1 cell cycle arrest, and induced apoptosis in ALL cell lines. Furthermore, it was noted that MSI2 inhibition heightened the responsiveness of ALL cells to dexamethasone. Significantly, the depletion of MSI2 prompted the translocation of GR from the cytoplasm to the nucleus upon dexamethasone treatment, consequently leading to enhanced sensitivity. Additionally, the FOXO1/4 signaling pathway contributed to the biological effects of ALL cells evoked by MSI2 silencing. Our study offers novel insight into the inhibitory effects of MSI2 suppression on ALL cells, positing MSI2 as a promising therapeutic target in the treatment of ALL.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the factors influencing C-reactive protein (CRP) status in neonates on admission after birth. METHODS: 820 newborns born and hospitalized at Xiangya Hospital of Central South University from Jan. 2020 to Dec. 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. Maternal medical history and medication use during pregnancy, neonatal demographic information and status at birth were collected through the electronic medical record system. Statistical software was used to analyze the possible relationship between perinatal factors and CRP on admission after birth. RESULTS: A total of 820 neonates were analyzed, including 463 males and 357 females with a mean gestational age (GA) of 36.07 ± 3.30 weeks. (1) Multifactor Logistic regression analysis: larger GA (OR: 1.13, 95%CI: 1.00-1.28, P = 0.042), premature rupture of membranes (PROM) ≥ 18 h (OR: 2.39, 95%CI: 1.35-4.23, P = 0.003) and maternal autoimmune diseases (OR: 5.30, 95%CI: 2.15-13.07, P < 0.001) were independent risk factors for CRP ≥ 8 mg/L. Cesarean delivery (OR 0.40, 95%CI: 0.26-0.60, P < 0.001) was independent protective factor for CRP ≥ 8 mg/L. (2) Threshold effect analysis: A non-linear relationship was found between GA and CRP. When GA is less than 33.9 weeks, the risk of CRP ≥ 8 mg/L was reduced by 28% with one week increased (P < 0.001), and when GA is more than 33.9 weeks, the risk of CRP ≥ 8 mg/L was increased by 61% with one week increased (P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: GA, PROM, maternal autoimmune diseases and cesarean delivery were all independent influences neonatal CRP ≥ 8 mg/L on admission, and there was a nonlinear relationship between GA and neonatal CRP ≥ 8 mg/L on admission.

BACKGROUND: To investigate the association between sex and neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (NRDS). METHODS: Neonates born at our hospital and transferred to the neonatal department within 1 h were retrospectively analyzed. Depending on whether they developed NRDS during their hospital stay, the neonates was divided into NRDS and non-NRDS groups. There were 142 neonates in the NRDS group (95 males and 47 females) and 310 neonates in the non-NRDS group (180 males and 140 females). The neonates' data on gestational age (GA), sex, birth weight, white blood cell count (WBC), platelet count (PLT), C-reactive protein (CRP), total immunoglobulin M (total IgM), gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM), antenatal steroids use, meconium-stained amniotic fluid, and preterm premature rupture of membranes(PPROM) were gathered. RESULTS: 452 neonates (265 males and 187 females) were involved for the purpose of collecting basic characteristic. Multivariate analysis, males had a 1.87 times higher risk of NRDS than females (P < 0.05) after controlling for the confounding effects of GA, birth weight, WBC, PLT, CRP, total IgM, GDM, antenatal steroids use, meconium-stained amniotic fluid, and PPROM. CONCLUSIONS: Sex was associated with NRDS; males had a considerably higher risk of NRDS than females.

Although accumulating evidence indicates that endangered animals suffer from plastic pollution, this has been largely overlooked. Here, we explored the bacteria and eukaryotes living in the plastics gathered from the natural habitat of the highly endangered crocodile lizard. The results demonstrated that the bacterial and eukaryotic communities on plastics formed a unique ecosystem that exhibited lower diversity than those in the surrounding water and soil. However, microbes displayed a more complex and stable network on plastic than that in water or soil, implying unique mechanisms of stabilization. These mechanisms enhanced their resilience and contributed to the provision of stable ecological services. Eukaryotes formed a simpler and smaller network than bacteria, indicating different survival strategies. The bacteria residing on the plastics played a significant role in carbon transformation and sequestration, which likely impacted carbon cycling in the habitat. Furthermore, microbial exchange between plastics and the crocodile lizard was observed, suggesting that plastisphere serves as a mobile gene bank for the exchange of information, including potentially harmful substances. Overall, microbes on plastic appear to significantly impact the crocodile lizard and its natural habitat via various pathways. These results provided novel insights into risks evaluation of plastic pollution and valuable guidance for government efforts in plastic pollutant control in nature reserves.

The booming development of rare earth industry and the extensive utilization of its products accompanied by urban development have led to the accelerated accumulation of rare earth elements (REEs) as emerging pollutants in atmospheric environment. In this study, the variation of REEs in PM2.5 with urban (a non-mining city) transformation was investigated through five consecutive years of sample collection. The compositional variability and provenance contribution of REEs in PM2.5 were characterized, and the REEs exposure risks of children and adults via inhalation, ingestion and dermal absorption were also evaluated. The results showed an increase in the total REEs concentration from 46.46 ± 35.16 mg/kg (2017) to 81.22 ± 38.98 mg/kg (2021) over the five-year period, with Ce and La making the largest contribution. The actual increment of industrial and traffic emission source among the three pollution sources was 1.34 ng/m3. Coal combustion source displayed a downward trend. Ingestion was the main exposure pathway for REEs in PM2.5 for both children and adults. Ce contributed the most to the total intake of REEs in PM2.5 among the population, followed by La and Nd. The exposure risks of REEs in PM2.5 in the region were relatively low, but the trend of change was of great concern. It was strongly recommended to strengthen the concern about traffic-related non-exhaust emissions of particulate matter.

Luminescent metal-organic framework composites with multiple luminescence emissions have been efficient sensing platforms. Herein, a fluorescent sensor (RhB@1-0.4) with dual-emission fluorescence properties was prepared by introducing rhodamine B (RhB) into the framework of complex 1, [Mn2.5(HCPCP)(H2O)4]·(CH3CN)0.5 [HCPCP = hexa-(4-carboxyl-phenoxy)-cyclotriphosphazene and CH3CN = acetonitrile), which is a novel crystalline two-dimensional (2D) coordinated organic framework material. It is a highly desirable material, realizing a ratiometric fluorescence response to putrescine with a high signal-to-noise ratio, and the detection limit can be as low as 6.8 µM. In addition, RhB@1-0.4 exhibited a better fluorescent sensing performance for aromatic diamines and nitrophenols compared with that of complex 1. It is a potential functionalized MOF material for the application of multichannel fluorescence sensing.

In this work, homochiral reduced imine cage was covalently bonded to the surface of the silica to prepare a novel high-performance liquid chromatography stationary phase, which was applied for the multiple separation modes such as normal phase, reversed-phase, ion exchange, and hydrophilic interaction chromatography. The successful preparation of the homochiral reduced imine cage bonded silica stationary phase was confirmed by performing a series of methods including X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and infrared spectroscopy. From the extracted results of the chiral resolution in normal phase and reversed-phase modes, it was demonstrated that seven chiral compounds were successfully separated, among which the resolution of 1-phenylethanol reached the value of 3.97. Moreover, the multifunctional chromatographic performance of the new molecular cage stationary phase was systematically investigated in the modes of reversed-phase, ion exchange, and hydrophilic interaction chromatography for the separation and analysis of a total of 59 compounds in eight classes. This work demonstrated that the homochiral reduced imine cage not only achieved multiseparation modes and multiseparation functions performance with high stability, but also expanded the application of the organic molecular cage in the field of liquid chromatography.

Lysosome-targeting self-assembling prodrugs had emerged as an attractive approach to overcome the acquisition of resistance to chemotherapeutics by inhibiting lysosomal sequestration. Taking advantage of lysosomal acidification induced intracellular hydrolytic condensation, we developed a lysosomal-targeting self-condensation prodrug-nanoplatform (LTSPN) system for overcoming lysosome-mediated drug resistance. Briefly, the designed hydroxycamptothecine (HCPT)-silane conjugates self-assembled into silane-based nanoparticles, which were taken up into lysosomes by tumor cells. Subsequently, the integrity of the lysosomal membrane was destructed because of the acid-triggered release of alcohol, wherein the nanoparticles self-condensed into silicon particles outside the lysosome through intracellular hydrolytic condensation. Significantly, the LTSPN system reduced the half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of HCPT by approximately 4 times. Furthermore, the LTSPN system realized improved control of large established tumors and reduced regrowth of residual tumors in several drug-resistant tumor models. Our findings suggested that target destructing the integrity of the lysosomal membrane may improve the therapeutic effects of chemotherapeutics, providing a potent treatment strategy for malignancies.

BACKGROUND: Cadmium (Cd), known as a vital contaminant in the environment, penetrates the blood-brain barrier and accumulates in the cerebrum. Acute toxicosis of Cd, which leads to lethal cerebral edema, intracellular accumulation and cellular dysfunction, remains to be illuminated with regard to the exact molecular mechanism of cerebral toxicity. Resveratrol (RES), present in the edible portions of numerous plants, is a simply acquirable and correspondingly less toxic natural compound with neuroprotective potential, which provides some theoretical bases for antagonizing Cd-induced cerebral toxicity. RESULTS: This work was executed to research the protective effects of RES against Cd-induced toxicity in chicken cerebrum. Markedly, these lesions were increased in the Cd group, which also exhibited a thinner cortex, reduced granule cells, vacuolar degeneration, and an enlarged medullary space in the cerebrum. Furthermore, Cd induced CYP450 enzyme metabolism disorders by disrupting the nuclear xenobiotic receptor response (NXRs), enabling the cerebrum to reduce the ability to metabolize exogenous substances, eventually leading to Cd accumulation. Meanwhile, accumulated Cd promoted oxidative damage and synergistically promoted the damage to neurons and glial cells. CONCLUSION: RES initiated NXRs (especially for aromatic receptor and pregnancy alkane X receptor), decreasing the expression of CYP450 genes, changing the content of CYP450, maintaining CYP450 enzyme normal activities, and exerting antagonistic action against the Cd-induced abnormal response of nuclear receptors. These results suggest that the cerebrum toxicity caused by Cd was reduced by pretreatment with RES. © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry.

Activating molecule in Beclin-1-regulated autophagy protein 1 (Ambra1) is well known to mediate the autophagy process and promote the formation of autophagosomes. In addition, Ambra1 is involved in the execution of apoptosis. A growing number of studies have revealed that this protein modifies the sensitivity of cancer cells to anticancer drugs by controlling the balance between autophagy and apoptosis. In addition, Ambra1 is a key factor in regulating the cell cycle, proliferation, invasion and migration. Therefore, it plays a key role in tumorigenesis and progression. Moreover, Ambra1 is highly expressed in a variety of cancers and is closely related to the prognosis of patients. Thus, it appears that Ambra1 has multiple roles in tumorigenesis and progression, which may have implications for clinical oncology. The present review focuses on recent advances in the study of Ambra1, especially the role of the protein in tumorigenesis, progression and effects on anticancer drug sensitivity.

The sensitivity of cells to chemotherapeutic agents has a major effect on disease outcome in breast cancer patients. Unfortunately, there are numerous factors involved in the regulation of chemosensitivity, and the mechanisms need to be further investigated. Autophagy/Beclin 1 regulator 1 (Ambra1) is a key protein in the crosstalk between autophagy and apoptosis. It controls the switch between these two processes, which determines whether cells survive or die. Induction of apoptosis is the primary mechanism by which most chemotherapeutic drugs eliminate cancer cells. Recently, Ambra1 has been shown to modulate paclitaxel-induced apoptosis in breast cancer cells via the Bim/mitochondrial pathway, thereby modifying the sensitivity of cells to paclitaxel. However, how Ambra1 regulates Bim expression remains unclear. Here, we further confirmed that Bim plays an indispensable role in Ambra1's regulation of apoptosis and chemosensitivity in breast cancer cells. Furthermore, Ambra1 was found to regulate Bim expression at the transcriptional level through the Akt-FoxO1 pathway. Therefore, we propose a novel pathway, Ambra1-Akt-FoxO1-Bim, which regulates apoptosis and chemosensitivity in breast cancer cells. Thus, Ambra1 may represent a potential target for breast cancer treatment.

Gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB) is the most common serious bleeding complication of antiplatelet therapy. The bleeding risk score (BRS) of GIB may help to determine the risk of bleeding, and provides a reference for the formulation of antiplatelet therapy regimen in clinical practice, but we found that no specific risk scores are available in East Asian patients. This study analyzed patients who were administered antiplatelet therapy from May 2015 to December 2018 in two medical centers. Patient's baseline data were obtained. We assessed four BRSs (New Score, RIETE Score, Cuschieri Score, de Groot Score) and compared them using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC). The 4,052 patients enrolled in this study had an average age of 69.6 ± 10.8 years, and 65.9% of them were male. Among the 4,052 patients included, 171 patients experienced GIB within 6 months of follow-up. In the study population, the AUCs for the New, RIETE, Cuschieri, and de Groot scores were 0.673 (95% confidence interval (CI) 0.616-0.729, P < .001), 0.742 (95% CI 0.690-0.794, P < .001), 0.598 (95% CI 0.537-0.659, P = .002), and 0.875 (95% CI 0.839-0.912, P < .001), respectively. After validation, the de Groot Score has better performance. Among the four scores, the de Groot Score might be more suitable for helping Chinese clinicians to predict the risk of GIB in patients taking antiplatelet drugs, and reduce GIB events.

Selenium-bridged bis(ß-cyclodextrin)s organic-inorganic hybrid silica material with regular spherical shape as new type of chiral stationary phase was directly synthesized under the one-pot hydrothermal synthesis method, and the chiral stationary phase was further characterized by infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetry, and elemental analysis. The results of chiral separation showed that eight chiral compounds including various types of chiral alcohols and flavanone were successfully separated in the reversed-phase separation mode by high performance liquid chromatography, which showed the better chiral resolution effect than that on the C2 position of single ß-cyclodextrin. The mechanism of chiral separation was likely due to multiple interactions such as inclusion, hydrogen bonding, electrostatic interaction, dipole-dipole interaction, and the synergistic effect of two cyclodextrins during the chiral resolution process. The synergy of the two cyclodextrins has great potential for development in chiral resolution.

Reduced imine cage (RCC3) was covalently bonded to the surface of silica spheres, and then the secondary amine group of the molecular cage was embedded in non-polar C10 for modification to prepare a novel RCC3-C10@silica HPLC stationary phase with multiple separation functions. Through infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and nitrogen adsorption-desorption characterization, it was confirmed that RCC3-C10 was successfully bonded to the surface of silica spheres. The resolution of RCC3-C10@silica in reversed-phase separation mode is as high as 2.95, 3.73, 3.27 and 4.09 for p-phenethyl alcohol, 1-phenyl-2-propanol, p-methylphenethyl alcohol and 1-phenyl-1-propanol, indicating that the stationary phase has excellent chiral resolution performance. In reversed-phase and hydrophilic separation modes, RCC3-C10@silica realized the separation and analysis of a total of 70 compounds in 8 classes of Tanaka mixtures, alkylbenzene rings, polyphenyl rings, phenols, anilines, sulfonamides, nucleosides and flavonoids, and the analysis of a variety of chiral and achiral complex mixtures have been completed at the same time. Compared with the traditional C18 commercial column, RCC3-C10@silica exhibits better chromatographic separation selectivity, aromatic selectivity and polar selectivity. The multifunctional separation mechanism exhibited by the stationary phase originates from various synergistic effects such as hydrophobic interaction, π-π interaction, hydrogen bonding and steric interaction provided by RCC3 and C10 groups. This work provides flexible selectivity and application prospects for novel multi-separation functional chromatographic columns.

RESUMO

Thermochromic smart windows technology can intelligently regulate indoor solar radiation by changing indoor light transmittance in response to thermal stimulation, thus reducing energy consumption of the building. In recent years, with the development of new energy-saving materials and the combination with practical technology, energy-saving smart windows technology has received more and more attention from scientific research. Based on the summary of thermochromic smart windows by Yi Long research groups, this review described the applications of thermal responsive organic materials in smart windows, including poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAm) hydrogels, hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) hydrogels, ionic liquids and liquid crystals. Besides, the mechanism of various organic materials and the properties of functional materials were also introduced. Finally, opportunities and challenges relating to thermochromic smart windows and prospects for future development are discussed.

The regulatory mechanisms that govern sex differentiation in sturgeon are still poorly understood. The doublesex and Mab-3-related transcription factor (Dmrt) gene family is known for its extensive roles in sex determination and differentiation across vertebrates. This study aimed to identify new members of sturgeon Dmrt family genes and core actors in the gonadal differentiation of Amur sturgeon. A full-length gonad transcriptome database was exploited to identify Dmrt gene orthologs. Analyses of phylogenetic relationships and selection pressure were performed, and tissue expression profiles and spatiotemporal expression patterns in gonads were then analyzed using real-time PCR. In total, five Dmrt family genes were identified from the full-length gonad transcriptome, including Dmrt2, DmrtA1, DmrtA2, DmrtB1a, and DmrtB1b. Phylogenetic analysis showed that these genes were clustered into clades corresponding to the doublesex/Mav-3 (DM) genes of vertebrates. Furthermore, the analysis of evolutionary selective pressure indicated that DmrtB1a and DmrtB1b were subject to positive selection, suggesting the existence of adaptive evolution in sturgeon. The extensive tissue expression profiling of each Dmrt family gene revealed typical characteristics. Remarkably, according to a spatiotemporal expression pattern analysis, in later stages, DmrtB1b expression increased in testes and was significantly higher in testes than in ovaries at 24 months after hatching (M) and 36 M. This study provides a genetic resource of full-length Dmrt family genes and increases the understanding of Dmrt functions in sex differentiation in sturgeon.

Waste sorting is an important aspect of environmental protection, which is now being enforced on a large scale in China. More broadly, it is beneficial to improve the implementation strategies for waste sorting policy and programmes. This study analyses the psychology of consumers that influences the mechanisms of consumer waste sorting and the governmental policies influencing consumers' attitudes and behaviours. About 295 validated participants were collected from four regions of China. Regression analysis was used to examine the relationship among consumers' internal motivation, government's external publicity and consumer behaviour, and the Hayes' PROCESS macro was used to test mediating effect and moderating effect. The results show that consumers' internal motivation and government's external publicity have a positive effect on consumer behaviour. Consumer attitude played a complete mediating role between consumers' internal motivation and consumer behaviour. Between the government's external publicity and consumer behaviour, consumer attitude played a complementary mediating role. Consumers with self-transcendence values, positive motivation of waste sorting and the government's external publicity had a greater positive impact on their attitudes than consumers with self-enhancement values. The greater the material benefits and psychic income consumers received from waste sorting, the more it promoted a positive attitude to consumer behaviour. The article puts forward some management suggestions to improve the government's implementation of its waste sorting policy.

Gastrointestinal bleeding is the most common bleeding complication during anticoagulant therapy. A reliable bleeding risk score can help the clinician assess risk of bleeding in individual patients and select the anticoagulant regimen. This study retrospectively analyzed the data of patients with atrial fibrillation who received anticoagulant therapy from July 2015 to December 2018 at two centers-the Fujian Medical University Union Hospital and Fuzhou Second Hospital Affiliated to Xiamen University. Demographic data, clinical findings, and laboratory results were collected from the hospital records. Patients were followed up for 6 months. The performance of four bleeding risk scores (New Score, RIETE Score, Cuschieri et al. Score, de Groot et al. Score) for prediction of gastrointestinal bleeding was assessed using the area under the curve. A total of 3462 patients (mean age, 66.3 ± 11.5 years; 59.6% males; 1055 direct oral anticoagulants users and 2407 warfarin users) were followed up for 6 months. While 99/3462 (2.9%) patients had gastrointestinal bleeding. The area under the curves for the New, RIETE, Cuschieri et al., de Groot et al. scores were 0.652 (95% CI 0.576-0.728), 0.862 (95% CI 0.809-0.914), 0.606 (95% CI 0.527-0.685), and 0.873 (95% CI 0.816-0.929), respectively. Among the four BRSs evaluated, the RIETE score and the de Groot et al. score appear to have the good predictive value, while the NEW score and the Cuschieri et al. score did not sufficiently predict gastrointestinal bleeding risk within the study Chinese population.

Cadmium (Cd) is a ubiquitous environmental pollutant, which mainly input to the aquatic environment through discharge of industrial and agricultural waste, can be a threat to human and animal health. Selenium (Se) possesses a beneficial role in protecting animals and ameliorating the toxic effects of Cd. However, the comparative antagonistic effects of different Se sources such as inorganic, organic Se and nano-form Se on Cd toxicity are still under-investigated. Hence, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the comparative of Se sources antagonism on Cd-induced nephrotoxicity via oxidative stress and selenoproteome transcription. In the present study, Cd-diet disturbed in the system balance of 5 trace elements (Zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), Iron (Fe), Se, Cd) and impaired renal function. Se sources, including nano- Se (NS), Se- yeast (SY), sodium selenite (SS) and mixed selenium (MS) significantly recovered the balance of 4 trace elements (Zn, Cu, Cd, Se) and renal impaired indexes (blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine (CREA)). Histological appearance of Cd-treated kidney indicated renal tubular epithelial vacuoles, particle degeneration and enlarged capsular space. Ultrastructure observation results illustrated that Cd-induced mitochondrial cristae reduction, membrane disappearance, and nuclear deformation. Treatment with Se sources, NS appeared a better impact on improving kidney tissues against the pathological alterations resulting from Cd administration. Meanwhile, NS reflected a significant impact on relieving Cd-induced kidney oxidative damage, and significantly restored the antioxidant defense system of the body. Our findings also showed NS ameliorated the Cd-induced downtrends expression of selenoproteome and selenoprotein synthesis related transcription factors. Overall, NS was the most effective Se source in avoiding of Cd cumulative toxicity, improving antioxidant capacity and regulating of selenoproteome transcriptome and selenoprotein synthesis related transcription factors expression, which contributes to ameliorate Cd-induced nephrotoxicity in chickens. These results demonstrated diet supplement with NS may prove to be an effective approach for alleviating Cd toxicity and minimizing Cd -induced health risk.
