RESUMO

Currently, facing electromagnetic protection requirement under complex aqueous environments, the bacterial reproduction and organic dye corrosion may affect the composition and micro-structures of absorbers to weaken their electromagnetic properties. To address such problems, herein, a series of CoFe2O4@BCNPs (cobalt ferrite @ bio-carbon nanoparticles) composites are synthesized via co-hydrothermal and calcining process. The coupling of magnetic cobalt ferrite and dielectric bio-carbon derived from Apium can endow the composite multiple absorption mechanisms and matched impedance for effective microwave absorption, attaining a bandwidth of 8.12 GHz at 2.36 mm and an intensity of -49.85 dB at 3.0 mm. Due to the ROS (reactive oxygen species) stimulation ability and heavy metal ions of cobalt ferrite, the composite realizes an excellent antibacterial efficiency of 99% against Gram negative bacteria of Escherichia coli. Moreover, the loose porous layer of surface stacked bio-carbon can promote the adsorption of methylene blue for subsequent eliminating, a high removal rate of 90.37% for organic dye can be also achieved. This paper offers a new insight for rational design of composite's component and micro-structure to construct multi-functional microwave absorber for satisfying the electromagnetic protection demand in complicated environments.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of the 2016 Chinese second child policy and different maternal ages on adverse perinatal outcomes. METHODS: Clinical data were collected from 22 monitoring hospitals in Hebei Province from January 1, 2013, to December 31, 2021. A total of 413,892 parturient were divided into 3 groups based on delivery age: 20-34, 35-39, and 40-55 years old. The clinical data were analyzed to explore the relationship among the 2016 Chinese second-child policy, maternal age, and various pregnancy risks. RESULTS: Pregnancy complications showed an upward trend from 2013 to 2021.The top 10 incidences of pregnancy complications in Hebei Province were anemia, small for gestational age (SGA), large for gestational age (LGA), macrosomia, gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), premature delivery, preeclampsia (PE), postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), placenta previa, and placental abruption. The two-child policy was implemented in 2016. The incidence of pregnancy complications, anemia, GDM, PE, placental abruption, cesarean delivery, premature delivery, SGA, LGA, macrosomia in 2016-2021 was significantly higher than that in 2013-2015 (P<0.05), and the proportion of women of advanced maternal age (AMA, ≥ 35 years old) increased from 2013 to 2021. Advanced maternal age was a risk factor for most assessed adverse pregnancy outcomes, including GDM, PE, placenta previa, placenta abruption, cesarean delivery, PPH, premature delivery, SGA, LGA and macrosomia. CONCLUSION: After the adjustment of the "second-child" policy, the incidence of pregnancy complications increased. Moreover, the risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes in AMA has increased. Early prevention and intervention should be implemented to cope with the occurrence of adverse perinatal outcomes.

The causative mechanisms underlying the genetic relationships of neurodegenerative diseases with epigenetic aging and human longevity remain obscure. We aimed to detect causal associations and shared genetic etiology of neurodegenerative diseases with epigenetic aging and human longevity. We obtained large-scale genome-wide association study summary statistics data for four measures of epigenetic age (GrimAge, PhenoAge, IEAA, and HannumAge) (N = 34,710), multivariate longevity (healthspan, lifespan, and exceptional longevity) (N = 1,349,462), and for multiple neurodegenerative diseases (N = 6618-482,730), including Lewy body dementia, Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and multiple sclerosis. Main analyses were conducted using multiplicative random effects inverse-variance weighted Mendelian randomization (MR), and conditional/conjunctional false discovery rate (cond/conjFDR) approach. Shared genomic loci were functionally characterized to gain biological understanding. Evidence showed that AD patients had 0.309 year less in exceptional longevity (IVW beta = -0.309, 95% CI: -0.38 to -0.24, p = 1.51E-19). We also observed suggestively significant causal evidence between AD and GrimAge age acceleration (IVW beta = -0.10, 95% CI: -0.188 to -0.013, p = 0.02). Following the discovery of polygenic overlap, we identified rs78143120 as shared genomic locus between AD and GrimAge age acceleration, and rs12691088 between AD and exceptional longevity. Among these loci, rs78143120 was novel for AD. In conclusion, we observed that only AD had causal effects on epigenetic aging and human longevity, while other neurodegenerative diseases did not. The genetic overlap between them, with mixed effect directions, suggested complex shared genetic etiology and molecular mechanisms.

BACKGROUND: Anaemia in pregnancy is one of the most frequent complications related to pregnancy and is a public health concern. This article examines the prevalence of anaemia in the third trimester of pregnancy and the associations between anaemia and adverse perinatal outcomes in Hebei Province, China. METHODS: We used SPSS software to describe the incidence of anaemia in the third trimester of pregnancy in Hebei Province and analysed the clinical characteristics in anaemic patients and the relationship between anaemia and adverse pregnancy outcomes. RESULTS: The overall prevalence of anaemia in the third trimester of pregnancy was 35.0% in Hebei Province. The prevalence of anaemia in the population with a high education level was lower than that in the population with a low education level. The incidence rate in rural areas was higher than that in urban areas. After adjustment for confounding factors, anaemia in the third trimester of pregnancy is an independent risk factor in terms of placenta previa, placental abruption, uterine atony, pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes mellitus, heart disease, postpartum haemorrhage, premature birth, laceration of birth canal, puerperal infection, caesarean section and large for gestational age. CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of anaemia in the third trimester of pregnancy is associated with an increased risk of adverse perinatal outcomes. A comprehensive approach to prevent anaemia is needed to improve maternal and child health outcomes.

Objective: To explore the relationship between the exposure level of particulate matter 2.5 (PM2.5) and particulate matter 10 (PM10) in the air of pregnant women during preconception and first trimester of pregnancy and the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Methods: The data of pregnant women delivered in 22 monitoring hospitals in Hebei Province from 2019 to 2021 were collected, and the daily air quality data of their cities were used to calculate the exposure levels of PM2.5 and PM10 in different pregnancy stages, and logistic regression model was used to analyze the impact of exposure levels of PM2.5 and PM10 on GDM during preconception and first trimester of pregnancy. Results: 108,429 singleton live deliveries were included in the study, of which 12,967 (12.0%) women had a GDM diagnosis. The prevalence of GDM increased over the course of the study from 10.2% (2019) to 14.9% (2021). From 2019 to 2021, the average exposure of PM2.5 and PM10 was relatively 56.67 and 103.08µg/m3 during the period of preconception and first trimester of pregnancy in Hebei Province. Handan, Shijiazhuang, and Xingtai regions had the most severe exposure to PM2.5 and PM10, while Zhangjiakou, Chengde, and Qinhuangdao had significantly lower exposure levels than other regions. The GDM group had statistically higher exposure concentrations of PM2.5 and PM10 during the period of preconception, first trimester, preconception and first trimester (P<0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the risk of GDM increases by 4.5%, 6.0%, and 10.6% for every 10ug/m3 increase in the average exposure value of PM2.5 in preconception, first trimester, preconception and first trimester, and 1.7%, 2.1%, and 3.9% for PM10. Moreover, High exposure to PM2.5 in the first, second, and third months of preconception and first trimester is associated with the risk of GDM. And high exposure to PM10 in the first, second, and third months of first trimester and the first, and third months of preconception is associated with the risk of GDM. Conclusion: Exposure to high concentrations of PM2.5 and PM10 during preconception and first trimester of pregnancy can significantly increase the risk of GDM. It is important to take precautions to prevent exposure to pollutants, reduce the risk of GDM, and improve maternal and fetal outcomes.

Objective: We aimed to investigate the secular prevalence of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and evaluate its adverse pregnancy outcomes among pregnant women in Hebei province, China. Methods: We analyzed the data from the monitoring information management system for pregnant women in 22 hospitals of Hebei province, China. In this study, 366,212 individuals with singleton live births from 2014 to 2021 were included, of whom 25,995 were diagnosed with gestational diabetes. We described the incidence of common complications and further analyzed the clinical characteristics in GDM patients and the relationship between GDM and adverse pregnancy outcomes. Results: The top 3 pregnancy complications in Hebei province are anemia, gestational hypertension, and GDM. The average incidence of GDM was 7.10% (25,995/366,212). The incidence rate of GDM significantly increased from 2014 to 2021 (χ2 trend = 7,140.663, P < 0.001). The top 3 regions with GDM incidence were Baoding (16.60%), Shijiazhuang (8.00%), and Tangshan (3.80%). The incidence of GDM in urban pregnant women (10.6%) is higher than that in rural areas (3.7%).The difference between the GDM and Non-GDM groups was statistically significant in terms of maternal age, gravidity, parity, education level, and incidence of pregnancy complications (gestational hypertension, heart diseases, and anemia) (P < 0.05). GDM individuals were at significantly increased risk of most assessed adverse pregnancy outcomes, including premature delivery, Cesarean delivery, uterine inertia, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) admission, Apgar (activity-pulse-grimace-appearance-respiration) score at 1 min, and macrosomia (P < 0.05). The multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that GDM was an independent risk factor in terms of premature birth, Cesarean delivery, uterine inertia, placental abruption, NICU admission, and macrosomia. Conclusion: The risk of adverse pregnancy outcome in pregnant women with GDM is significantly increased. In order to reduce the occurrence of adverse pregnancy outcomes, effective interventions are needed.

It has been reported that LMO1 gene was associated with progression, metastasis and apoptosis of leukemia, colorectal cancer and lung cancer. However, the association of LMO1 and gastric cancer remains unclear. The aim of this study is to analyze the relation between LMO1 expression and apoptosis of gastric cancer cells and explore the clinical implications of LMO1 in gastric cancer tissues. The results demonstrated that expression levels of LMO1 and Bcl-2 proteins in gastric cancer tissues were higher than those in adjacent tissues, whereas the opposite was detected for Bax expression (P<0.05). LMO1 protein was associated with TNM staging and lymph node metastasis in gastric cancer (P<0.05). The survival rate of the patients with positive LMO1 gastric carcinoma was lower than that with negative LOM1 expression, and LMO1 was as an independent prognostic factor in COX survival analysis (P<0.05). LMO1-siRNA transfected MKN45 cells had a significant decrease in LMO1 expression and the cell viability, despite of an increase in the apoptotic rate (P<0.05). Following LMO1-siRNA transfection, Bcl-2 expression decreased, while the expression of Bax increased (P<0.05). It's concluded that overexpressed LMO1 in gastric cancer could be as one of new markers of poor prognosis.
