RESUMO
The kagome lattice1, which is the most prominent structural motif in quantum physics, benefits from inherent non-trivial geometry so that it can host diverse quantum phases, ranging from spin-liquid phases, to topological matter, to intertwined orders2-8 and, most rarely, to unconventional superconductivity6,9. Recently, charge sensitive probes have indicated that the kagome superconductors AV3Sb5 (A = K, Rb, Cs)9-11 exhibit unconventional chiral charge order12-19, which is analogous to the long-sought-after quantum order in the Haldane model20 or Varma model21. However, direct evidence for the time-reversal symmetry breaking of the charge order remains elusive. Here we use muon spin relaxation to probe the kagome charge order and superconductivity in KV3Sb5. We observe a noticeable enhancement of the internal field width sensed by the muon ensemble, which takes place just below the charge ordering temperature and persists into the superconducting state. Notably, the muon spin relaxation rate below the charge ordering temperature is substantially enhanced by applying an external magnetic field. We further show the multigap nature of superconductivity in KV3Sb5 and that the [Formula: see text] ratio (where Tc is the superconducting transition temperature and λab is the magnetic penetration depth in the kagome plane) is comparable to those of unconventional high-temperature superconductors. Our results point to time-reversal symmetry-breaking charge order intertwining with unconventional superconductivity in the correlated kagome lattice.
RESUMO
1. In a non-cage environment, goose eggs are buried in litter and goose feathers, leading to contamination and discolouration. Such random distribution of goose eggs poses a great challenge to the recognition and location for intelligent picking by robot systems on farm.2. In order to assist in recognition and location of goose eggs in non-cage environments, a novel method was proposed which used three-channel convolutional neural network (T-CNN), composed of improved AlexNet, combined with 'you only look once' (YOLOv5), egg contour curve creation and support vector machine (SVM).3. Using this method, the original goose egg images were put into the YOLOv5 model for target detection and segmentation. In parallel, the median filter and maximum interclass variance method (OTSU) were applied to egg segmentation images to obtain the main pixels for each, and the Kirsch operator was used for edge extraction and contour curves fitting by designing the fitting curve equation to obtain segmentation images with goose egg contour curves.4. In order to further enrich the differences between goose eggs and background, the goose egg segmentation images were divided into three colour components: R, G and B, which were put into T-CNN for feature extraction. Then the eggs were classified by vector stitching and SVM, by adding goose egg contour curve images.5. The recognition and location results showed that about 95.65% of the goose egg pixel blocks in the segmented images were recognised correctly. About 3.81% of the pixel blocks in the segmented images were recognised incorrectly, and the centre of mass offset was about 4.45 pixels.6. This study demonstrated accurate goose egg recognition and location using the proposed method in a non-cage environment. This highlighted its application prospect in intelligent goose egg picking as well as a possible method to use in other species laying eggs outside the nest (floor eggs) as for example laying hens in non cage systems.

Objective: To explore the establishment and application of ovarian cancer organoids. Methods: Fresh ovarian tumor tissues, obtaining from patients underwent surgery in the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University between October 2021 and March 2022, were collected, enzymatic degraded, digested, and embedded into matrigel to establish organoids. A total of 32 ovarian cancer samples were collected. Hematoxylin eosin (HE) staining and immunofluorescence (IF) procedure were used to verify the morphological structure of organoids and their expression of molecular markers. 3D cyto-live or dead assay was used to detecte the live or dead cells in organoids. Carboplatin with a concentration ranging from 5 to 80 µmol/L (5, 10, 20, 40, 80 µmol/L) was added to organoids to calculate the 50% inhibitory concentration (IC50) in different organoids. Results: (1) Organoids from a total of 32 patients were established, of which 18 cases could be passaged stably in the long term in vitro, while 14 could be passaged in the short time. The average amplification time of long-term passage in vitro was over 3 months, and the longest reached 9 months. (2) In HE staining, significant nuclei atypia and local micropapillary structures were observed in organoids. IF staining revealed that ovarian cancer organoids expressed molecular markers similar to primary tumor tissues, such as Pan cytokeratin (Pan-CK), p53, paired box gene 8 (PAX8), and Wilms tumor gene 1 (WT1). (3) In 3D cyto-live or dead assay, a large number of apoptotic cells were observed inside and around the organoids after added carboplatin. The sensitivity to carboplatin varied in 18 organoids could amplify in the long term, with an average IC50 of (29.5±15.8) µmol/L. Moreover, IC50 values of 4 organoids derived from patients received neoadjuvant chemotherapy were much higher than the 14 organoids which did not received neoadjuvant chemotherapy [(48.7±11.3) µmol/L vs (24.0±12.1) µmol/L; t=3.429, P=0.022]. Conclusions: Organoids recapitulate ovarian cancers in vitro and could be stably passaged. Organoids derived from patients received neoadjuvant chemotherapy have higher resistance to carboplatin.

Objective: To describe the distribution and establish reference intervals (RI) of daytime intraocular pressure (IOP) in the eye health screening population of Handan. Methods: This cross-sectional study included subjects who participated in eye health screening at the Physical Examination Center of Handan First Hospital from May 2021 to June 2022. A complete general and ocular examination was performed, including measurements of visual acuity and IOP (using Goldmann tonometry), slit lamp microscopy, fundus photography, and anterior and posterior segment optical coherence tomography. Subjects with factors that could cause significant changes in IOP or affect the accuracy of IOP measurement, or with an inability to measure IOP were excluded. Simple random sampling was used to select participants, who were grouped by gender and age (18 to <30, 30 to <40, 40 to <50, 50 to <60, 60 to <70, and ≥70 years). Central corneal thickness and IOP at 8 to 11 o'clock in one eye of each participant were recorded. The independent sample t test and ANOVA were used for statistical analysis, and the RI of IOP values was calculated by x¯±1.96s. Results: A total of 9 310 subjects had their IOP measured, and 3 491 participants (3 491 eyes) were randomly selected from 7 886 healthy subjects. The age of the participants was (47.74±14.47) years old, ranging from 18 to 90 years old. There were 1 694 males and 1 797 females. The central corneal thickness of all participants was (525.56±49.39) µm. The daytime IOP of all participants was (15.40±2.54) mmHg (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa), and the RI was 10.42 to 20.39 mmHg. The IOP was (15.49±2.58) mmHg for males and (15.29±2.49) mmHg for females, and the gender difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The RI of daytime IOP values was 10.43 to 20.54 mmHg for males and 10.41 to 20.18 mmHg for females. There were significant differences in daytime IOP [(15.13±2.58), (15.33±2.53), (15.49±2.50), (15.53±2.55), (15.39±2.62), and (15.28±2.52) mmHg] among 6 age groups (P<0.05). Conclusions: The distribution of daytime IOP in different gender and age groups in the eye health screening population of Handan and the RIs derived from the distribution were roughly the same as the international normal IOP RI (10 to 21 mmHg). It is recommended to refer to the RI of daytime IOP values of different genders and ages for clinical decision.

BACKGROUND: For patients with peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL), outcomes using frontline treatment with cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone (CHOP) or CHOP-like therapy are typically poor. The ECHELON-2 study demonstrated that brentuximab vedotin plus cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, and prednisone (A+CHP) exhibited statistically superior progression-free survival (PFS) per independent central review and improvements in overall survival versus CHOP for the frontline treatment of patients with systemic anaplastic large cell lymphoma or other CD30-positive PTCL. PATIENTS AND METHODS: ECHELON-2 is a double-blind, double-dummy, randomized, placebo-controlled, active-comparator phase III study. We present an exploratory update of the ECHELON-2 study, including an analysis of 5-year PFS per investigator in the intent-to-treat analysis group. RESULTS: A total of 452 patients were randomized (1 : 1) to six or eight cycles of A+CHP (N = 226) or CHOP (N = 226). At median follow-up of 47.6 months, 5-year PFS rates were 51.4% [95% confidence interval (CI): 42.8% to 59.4%] with A+CHP versus 43.0% (95% CI: 35.8% to 50.0%) with CHOP (hazard ratio = 0.70; 95% CI: 0.53-0.91), and 5-year overall survival (OS) rates were 70.1% (95% CI: 63.3% to 75.9%) with A+CHP versus 61.0% (95% CI: 54.0% to 67.3%) with CHOP (hazard ratio = 0.72; 95% CI: 0.53-0.99). Both PFS and OS were generally consistent across key subgroups. Peripheral neuropathy was resolved or improved in 72% (84/117) of patients in the A+CHP arm and 78% (97/124) in the CHOP arm. Among patients who relapsed and subsequently received brentuximab vedotin, the objective response rate was 59% with brentuximab vedotin retreatment after A+CHP and 50% with subsequent brentuximab vedotin after CHOP. CONCLUSIONS: In this 5-year update of ECHELON-2, frontline treatment of patients with PTCL with A+CHP continues to provide clinically meaningful improvement in PFS and OS versus CHOP, with a manageable safety profile, including continued resolution or improvement of peripheral neuropathy.

The split photodiode and the lateral effect photodiode are two popular detectors for measuring beam displacement. For small displacements of a Gaussian beam, which is the case of interest here, they are often seen as equivalent and used interchangeably, giving a signal proportional to the displacement. We show theoretically and experimentally that in the limit of low technical noise, where the signal to noise ratio is dominated by the shot noise of the light, the lateral effect photodiode produces a better signal to noise ratio than the split photodiode, owing to its optimum spatial detector response. This quantum advantage can be practically exploited in spite of the intrinsic thermal noise of the lateral effect photodiode.
RESUMO
The brown planthopper (BPH), Nilaparvata lugens (Stål) is a resurgent pest of rice crops throughout Asia. We recently discovered that octopamine (OA) and OA2B2 operate in the BPH mating system, where it mediates a wide range of molecular, physiological and behavioural changes. Here, we report on outcomes of experiments designed to test the hypothesis that OA/OA2B2 signalling mediates responses to three abiotic stressors, starvation, high temperature (37â°C), and induced oxidative stress. We found per os RNAi-mediated OA2B2 silencing led to significantly decreased survival, measured in days, following exposure to each of these stressors. We selected a biologically costly process, reproductive biology, as a biotic stressor. Silencing of OA2B2 led to decreased total protein content in ovaries and fat bodies, downregulated expression of vitellogenin (Vg) and Vg receptor (VgR), inhibited fat body Vg protein synthesis, shortened the oviposition period, prolonged the preoviposition period, reduced the number of laid eggs, body weight and female longevity. In addition, the silencing treatments also led to inhibited ovarian development, and ovarian Vg uptake, reduced numbers of egg masses and offspring and lower hatching rates and population growth index. These data support our hypothesis that OA2B2 acts in mediating BPH resistance to biotic and abiotic stressors.

Spinons are well known as the elementary excitations of one-dimensional antiferromagnetic chains, but means to realize spinons in higher dimensions is the subject of intense research. Here, we use resonant x-ray scattering to study the layered trimer iridate Ba_{4}Ir_{3}O_{10}, which shows no magnetic order down to 0.2 K. An emergent one-dimensional spinon continuum is observed that can be well described by XXZ spin-1/2 chains with a magnetic exchange of â¼55 meV and a small Ising-like anisotropy. With 2% isovalent Sr doping, magnetic order appears below T_{N}=130 K along with sharper excitations in (Ba_{1-x}Sr_{x})_{4}Ir_{3}O_{10}. Combining our data with exact diagonalization calculations, we find that the frustrated intratrimer interactions effectively reduce the system into decoupled spin chains, the subtle balance of which can be easily tipped by perturbations such as chemical doping. Our results put Ba_{4}Ir_{3}O_{10} between the one-dimensional chain and two-dimensional quantum spin liquid scenarios, illustrating a new way to suppress magnetic order and realize fractional spinons.
RESUMO
This work extends an extreme variant of superconformal Au electrodeposition to deeper device architectures while exploring factors that constrain its function and the robustness of void-free processing. The unconventional bottom-up process is used to fill diffraction gratings with trenches 94 µm deep and 305 µm deep, with aspect ratios (height/width) of just below 20 and 15, respectively, in near-neutral 0.16 mol·L-1 Na3Au(SO3)2 + 0.64 mol·L-1 Na2SO3 electrolyte containing 50 µmol·L-1 Bi3+. Although the aspect ratios are modest compared to previously demonstrated void-free filling beyond AR = 60, the deepest trenches filled exceed those in previous work by 100 µm - a nearly 50 % increase in depth. Processes that substantially accelerate the start of bottom-up deposition demonstrate a linkage between transport and void-free filling. Final profiles are highly uniform across 65 mm square gratings because of self-passivation inherent in the process. Electron microscopy and electron backscatter diffraction confirm the fully dense Au and void-free filling suggested by the electrochemical measurements. X-ray transmission "fringe visibility" average more than 80 % at 50 kV X-ray tube voltage across the deeper gratings and 70 % at 40 kV across the shallower gratings, also consistent with uniformly dense, void-free fill across the gratings.
RESUMO
OBJECTIVE: To compare the safety of low-dose cyclophosphamide and high-dose cyclophosphamide in the treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). METHODS: A total of 1 022 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus from 24 hospitals in China between March 2017 to July 2018 were enrolled. Their clinical manifestations, laboratory tests, adverse events, reasons for stopping receiving intravenous cyclophosphamide and comorbidities were collected. Among them, 506 SLE patients received short-interval low-dose intravenous cyclophosphamide therapy (SILD IV-CYC, 400 mg every two weeks), and 256 patients underwent high-dose cyclophosphamide therapy (HD IV-CYC, 500 mg/m2 of body surface area every month), the side effects between the two groups were compared, the remaining 260 SLE patients were treated with IV-CYC irregularly. Moreover, a total of 377 patients in SILD IV-CYC group and 214 patients in HD IV-CYC group had medical records of the reasons for stopping recei-ving IV-CYC. The reasons for stopping receiving IV-CYC in these two groups were analyzed. RESULTS: In this study, only 40.27%(238/591)of the SLE patients stopped receiving intravenous cyclophosphamide for the causes of disease improvement, however, up to 33.67% (199/591) of the patients for the reason of drug-related side effects. There were 83 patients out of 214 (38.79%) with high-dose intravenous cyclophosphamide treatment who stopped receiving IV-CYC for the drug-related side effects, which was significantly higher than that in the low-dose cyclophosphamide group (30.77%, 116/337, P=0.048). Of theses 506 patients in SILD IV-CYC group, 88 (17.39%) patients experienced gastrointestinal reactions, 66 (13.04%) suffered from infections, 49 (9.68%) had myelosuppression and 68 (13.44%) had alopecia, respectively. Among the 256 patients in the HD IV-CYC group, 80 (31.25%) experienced gastrointestinal reactions, 57 (22.27%) suffered from infections, 51 (19.92%) had myelosuppression and 49 (19.14%) had alopecia. Moreover, 71 (25.18%) of 282 female patients with age between 16 to 45 years in SILD IV-CYC group had abnormal menstruation, while menstrual disorder occurred in 39.72% (56/141) patients of HD IV-CYC group. There was no difference of drug-induced hepatic injury, hemorrhagic cystitis and fatigue between the two groups. CONCLUSION: Low-dose cyclophosphamide showed a lower prevalence of adverse events than high-dose cyclophosphamide in systemic lupus erythematosus patients.

Revealing the predominant driving force behind symmetry breaking in correlated materials is sometimes a formidable task due to the intertwined nature of different degrees of freedom. This is the case for La_{2-x}Sr_{x}NiO_{4+δ}, in which coupled incommensurate charge and spin stripes form at low temperatures. Here, we use resonant x-ray photon correlation spectroscopy to study the temporal stability and domain memory of the charge and spin stripes in La_{2-x}Sr_{x}NiO_{4+δ}. Although spin stripes are more spatially correlated, charge stripes maintain a better temporal stability against temperature change. More intriguingly, charge order shows robust domain memory with thermal cycling up to 250 K, far above the ordering temperature. These results demonstrate the pinning of charge stripes to the lattice and that charge condensation is the predominant factor in the formation of stripe orders in nickelates.
RESUMO
The discovery of superconductivity in a d^{9-δ} nickelate has inspired disparate theoretical perspectives regarding the essential physics of this class of materials. A key issue is the magnitude of the magnetic superexchange, which relates to whether cuprate-like high-temperature nickelate superconductivity could be realized. We address this question using Ni L-edge and O K-edge spectroscopy of the reduced d^{9-1/3} trilayer nickelates R_{4}Ni_{3}O_{8} (where R=La, Pr) and associated theoretical modeling. A magnon energy scale of â¼80 meV resulting from a nearest-neighbor magnetic exchange of J=69(4) meV is observed, proving that d^{9-δ} nickelates can host a large superexchange. This value, along with that of the Ni-O hybridization estimated from our O K-edge data, implies that trilayer nickelates represent an intermediate case between the infinite-layer nickelates and the cuprates. Layered nickelates thus provide a route to testing the relevance of superexchange to nickelate superconductivity.
RESUMO
AIM: To evaluate and compare the heterogeneity of intratumour and peritumour areas in the prediction of Ki-67 of invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) and the predictive accuracy of different contrast frames based on dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI). MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study included 88 patients with histologically confirmed IDC with 57 patients with high Ki-67 status and 31 patients with low Ki-67 status. All patients underwent DCE-MRI before surgery. A grey-level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) was performed on slice-matched images from six frames by drawing the region of the interest (ROI) on the inner and outer regions of the tumours. The correlations between texture characteristics and Ki-67 status of lesions were analysed, using the Mann-Whitney test and receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. RESULTS: In the high-Ki-67 group, the entropy was significantly higher than that of the low-Ki-67 group (p<0.001). The entropy obtained, based on the tumour boundary as a band-like area inside and outside at the first post-contrast series, revealed the highest receiver operating characteristic (AUC = 0.765). In the multivariate analysis, a higher entropy value (>4.305; p<0.001) remained independently associated with a high-Ki-67 status after adjustment for menopausal status, tumour size, histologic grade, oestrogen receptor (ER) status, and progesterone receptor (PR) status. The other parameters did not show significant differences between the high- and low-Ki-67 groups. CONCLUSION: Heterogeneity analysis based on DCE-MRI could discriminate between high- and low-Ki-67 status. Texture characteristics from the band-like region inside and outside the tumour boundary could predict the Ki-67 status and showed higher accuracy.

The aim of this study was to assess the effects of orlistat or metformin treatment on lipid and glucose metabolism, and gonadal function in obese/overweight women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). A total of 39 patients diagnosed with PCOS were randomly (digital table method) divided into orlistat treatment group (20 cases) and metformin treatment group (19 cases). Compared with those before, treatment with either orlistat or metformin significantly reduced body weight, body mass index (BMI), hip circumferences, and serum insulin levels of the PCOS patients both at the end of 3 months and 6 months (P<0.05). No significant differences could be viewed between orlistat and metformin treated subjects. Moreover, orlistat treatment significantly lowered the levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, total cholesterol, fasting blood glucose, and homeostasis model assessment-insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) (P<0.05), while there were no significant changes in above parameters with metformin treatment. The improvement of menstrual cycle was observed after 6-month treatment in both groups (P<0.05). However, changes in polycystic ovarian morphology by ultrasound were only observed in orlistat treated group. In conclusion, orlistat is comparable with metformin in weight loss and improvement of insulin resistance and menstrual cycle, and is superior to metformin in improvement of lipid metabolism in overweight/obese PCOS patients.

Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of Tonghua Dongbao's insulin aspart injection (Rishulin) and NovoRapid (Novo Nordisk) in the treatment of diabetes. Methods: A 26-week, randomized, open-label, parallel-group, positive control drug and non-inferiority trial was conducted in 23 centers in China. A total of 563 diabetes with poor blood glucose control treated with insulin for at least 3 months before were included. The subjects were randomized(stratified block random method) into those receiving Rishulin or NovoRapid at a ratio of 3â¶1. Both groups were combined with basal insulin (Lantus). The primary endpoint was the change in glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) from baseline to the end of 24 weeks of treatment. Results: For full analysis set, after 24 weeks of treatment, HbA1c level of Ruishulin group decreased from (8.66±1.28)% to (7.77±1.09)% (P<0.001), and that of NovoRapid group decreased from (8.47±1.28) % to (7.65±0.97) % (P<0.001). Treatment difference in HbA1c (NovoRapid group-Ruishulin group) was -0.061% (95%CI -0.320-0.199). HbA1c<7.0% target reacing rates were 24.26% and 21.21% (P=0.456), and HbA1c<6.5% target reacing rates were 9.65% and 6.82% (P=0.310) in Ruishulin group and NovoRapid group, repectively. The standard 2 hours postprandial blood glucose (2hPG) in Ruishulin group decreased from (16.23±5.22) mmol/L to (12.65±4.57) mmol/L (P<0.001), and 2hPG in NovoRapid group decreased from (16.13±5.37) mmol/L to (11.91)±4.21) mmol/L (P<0.001). The fingertips blood glucose at 7-point of both groups exhibited varying degrees of reduction compared with those at baseline, repectively. Surface magnetism and its correlation with the electronic structure are critical to understanding the topological surface state in the intrinsic magnetic topological insulator MnBi_{2}Te_{4}. Here, using static and time resolved angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), we find a significant ARPES intensity change together with a gap opening on a Rashba-like conduction band. Comparison with a model simulation strongly indicates that the surface magnetism on cleaved MnBi_{2}Te_{4} is the same as its bulk state. The inability of surface ferromagnetism to open a gap in the topological surface state uncovers the novel complexity of MnBi_{2}Te_{4} that may be responsible for the low quantum anomalous Hall temperature of exfoliated MnBi_{2}Te_{4}.
RESUMO
The discovery of charge-density-wave-related effects in the resonant inelastic x-ray scattering spectra of cuprates holds the tantalizing promise of clarifying the interactions that stabilize the electronic order. Here, we report a comprehensive resonant inelastic x-ray scattering study of La_{2-x}Sr_{x}CuO_{4} finding that charge-density wave effects persist up to a remarkably high doping level of x=0.21 before disappearing at x=0.25. The inelastic excitation spectra remain essentially unchanged with doping despite crossing a topological transition in the Fermi surface. This indicates that the spectra contain little or no direct coupling to electronic excitations near the Fermi surface, rather they are dominated by the resonant cross section for phonons and charge-density-wave-induced phonon softening. We interpret our results in terms of a charge-density wave that is generated by strong correlations and a phonon response that is driven by the charge-density-wave-induced modification of the lattice.
RESUMO
In this study, a new method is established for indexing electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) patterns assisted by the Kikuchi bandwidth. This method utilises both interplanar angles and interplanar spacings to determine the Miller indices of the Kikuchi bands in EBSD patterns to improve the efficiency and precision of indexing in the EBSD system. Two samples of single-crystal silicon were investigated to validate the method based on (a) the detection of the edges of the EBSD Kikuchi bands and (b) the calculation of the Kikuchi bandwidths. The relationship between the Kikuchi bandwidth and the interplanar spacing at different positions was established, and the interplanar spacing of the corresponding lattice plane of each Kikuchi band was calculated with the use of the Kikuchi bandwidth information. The relative errors between the theoretical and experimental interplanar spacings are small, with an average relative error of 2.6% and a minimum relative error of 1.04%. The results indicated that the Miller index of each Kikuchi band can be determined accurately with this new method. It is demonstrated that use of this new method improves the efficiency and accuracy of the EBSD system. LAY DESCRIPTION: Electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) is a scanning electron microscope-based technique. In our work, a new method is established for indexing EBSD patterns assisted by the Kikuchi bandwidth. This method utilizes both interplanar angles and interplanar spacings to determine the Miller indices of the Kikuchi bands in EBSD patterns to improve the efficiency and precision of indexing in the EBSD system. Two samples of single-crystal silicon were investigated to validate the method based on a) the detection of the edges of the EBSD Kikuchi bands and b) the calculation of the Kikuchi bandwidths. Compared with the results reported in the literature, the width-assisted Kikuchi pattern indexing method can well distinguish some cases with similar angles, and reduce the possibility of mis-indexing. After the introduction of the width information of the Kikuchi bands, the screening range can be narrowed by determining the crystal plane family, and the efficiency and accuracy of the indexing process can thus be improved. Specifically, for some materials with increased symmetry, such as cubic crystal materials, it is necessary to use the interplanar spacing for indexing when the interplanar angles are not diagnostic. The results indicated that the Miller index of each Kikuchi band can be determined accurately with this new method. It is demonstrated that use of this new method improves the efficiency and accuracy of the EBSD system.
RESUMO
Although all superconducting cuprates display charge-ordering tendencies, their low-temperature properties are distinct, impeding efforts to understand the phenomena within a single conceptual framework. While some systems exhibit stripes of charge and spin, with a locked periodicity, others host charge density waves (CDWs) without any obviously related spin order. Here we use resonant inelastic X-ray scattering to follow the evolution of charge correlations in the canonical stripe-ordered cuprate La1.875Ba0.125CuO4 across its ordering transition. We find that high-temperature charge correlations are unlocked from the wavevector of the spin correlations, signaling analogies to CDW phases in various other cuprates. This indicates that stripe order at low temperatures is stabilized by the coupling of otherwise independent charge and spin density waves, with important implications for the relation between charge and spin correlations in the cuprates.
