RESUMO

A case of a 33 year old woman G7P6A1, with preterm premature rupture of membranes at 20 weeks of gestation and asymptomatic intramniotic infection is reported. At admission, the presence of Klebsiella oxytoca in amniotic fluid was demonstrated by amniocentesis. Parenteral antibiotics were administered with a following demonstration of aseptic fluid. The patient delivered at 29 1/2 weeks of pregnancy. A newborn weighing 1520 with an Apgar score of 8-8 was obtained. The mother had a normal puerperal period without any evidence of infectious morbidity. A clinical sepsis was demonstrated in the newborn with appropriate response to antibiotic therapy. No further complications were observed.

RESUMO

From 1983 to 1991, six pregnant women bearing a renal transplant were admitted at the P Universidad Católica de Chile Clinic Hospital. All of them were under immunosuppressive therapy with azathioprine and prednisone. One patient was also receiving cyclosporine. Four had chronic hypertension; 1 presented intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy; 2, premature rupture of membranes, and 3, preeclampsia (superimposed to chronic hypertension). There were no abortions. The median gestational age at delivery was 35.5 weeks. Only one of the six newborns was small for gestational age; the others were of appropriate size. There were no neonatal problems or congenital anomalies. Deterioration of the renal function was observed in two patients. One patient presented rejection to the transplanted kidney. Pregnancy following renal transplantation is not exempt of risks, but multidisciplinary management, close prenatal control and opportune interruption of gestation play a key role in the successful outcome of these pregnancies.

RESUMO

Thirty one postmenopause patients were studied, twenty three had metrorrhagia. They were examined by transvaginal ultrasonography with the purpose of measuring the depth of the endometrium. Endometrium depth < or = 10 mm is associated with minimal risk of endometrial cancer. The relationship between the echographic measurements and endometrium cancer, reveals a sensitive of 75%; specificity of 89%; positive predictive value of 60% and negative of 94%.

RESUMO

"Second look" laparotomy in ovarian cancer demonstrated negative result in 49%, microscopic positive result in 17%, and macroscopic positive result in 34%. The prediction factors were related with, clinical stage, degree of differentiation and the postsurgical residual tumors after the first operation.
