RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the evidence available in the literature on the pedagogical practices developed with children through hospital classes. METHOD: An integrative review was conducted on July 20, 2022, in Scopus, MEDLINE/PubMed, CINAHL, LILACS, Web of Science, ERIC, Educ@, and Scielo using the following descriptors in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, extracted from DECS/MeSH, CINAHL, Brased/INEP, and ERIC Thesaurus: "Child, Hospitalized", "Education, Special", "Education Department, Hospital", "Hospital Classroom", "Hospital Class", "Child Rearing", "Educational Practices", "Early Childhood Education", "Education", "Hospital Pedagogy", and "Hospital Special Class". No time restriction was applied. The EndNot Web reference manager and the Rayyan software were used to select studies, and later, the methodological rigor and level of evidence were assessed. RESULTS: The 22 articles described pedagogical practices, including ludic activities, individualized work, working with regular school content, stimulation activities, pedagogical and dialogic listening, learning based on the exchange of knowledge, video games, computational robotics, and theatrical performance. CONCLUSION: Although difficulties were identified in implementing pedagogical practices in the hospital, they were shown to allow educational continuity and clinical improvement of hospitalized children. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE: Studies on the educational process within the hospital setting can contribute to the development of public policies and the guarantee of the right to education for hospitalized children. DESCRIPTORS: Special education; Hospital education department; Hospitalized child; Child rearing; Teaching.

RESUMO

AIM: The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of educational interventions focusing on women and their social network for the promotion of exclusive breastfeeding up to the age of 6 months. BACKGROUND: Despite the advantages of breastfeeding and strategies available for its promotion, early weaning is common worldwide. DESIGN: Systematic review and meta-analysis based on the Joanna Briggs Institute guidelines. DATA SOURCES: A search was performed in databases (LILACS, PubMed, Science Direct, Scopus, CINAHL, Web of Science and Cochrane Library), reference lists and grey literature. There was no limitation on the studies' year of publication. REVIEW METHODS: JBI-MAStARI software were used. The meta-analysis was performed using Stata version 13·0. The effect was estimated by odds ratio with 95% confidence intervals. RESULTS: Of 7201 identified studies, 11 made up the review's corpus. Educational interventions were about twice as effective compared with routine interventions used in the control groups. It was evident that educational interventions have focused only on the woman and have not covered all five types of support she needs to breastfeed. CONCLUSION: Educational interventions were about twice as effective in promoting exclusive breastfeeding at 6 months old. There is a need for further studies applying interventions that address women and their social network from the prenatal period, considering all types of support.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To understand the meaning attributed by women with physical disabilities to the health care received and expected during labor and delivery. METHODS: Qualitative study, based on Social Network Theory, conducted through an online workshop in April 2022, with the participation of six women with physical disabilities. Data, collected through the focus group technique, underwent thematic content analysis with the assistance of the IRaMuTeQ tool. RESULTS: Three thematic categories emerged: Challenges experienced during pregnancy; The experience within the maternity ward; and, The importance of social networks. The assistance provided by healthcare professionals sometimes differed between what was expected and what was received by women with physical disabilities during labor and delivery. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: Experiences were predominantly negative, resulting from inappropriate professional conduct due to ableist attitudes. Support from members of social networks is crucial for preventing stressors.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: to identify factors associated with adherence to the COVID-19 vaccine during pregnancy. METHOD: cross-sectional and analytical study with 348 postpartum women in shared accommodation at the Municipal Maternities of Recife-PE. Data was collected through interviews during the months of June to September 2022. Pearson's Chi-Square or Fisher's Exact tests and the Poisson regression model were applied for statistical analysis. RESULTS: 17.2% of pregnant women adhered to the complete vaccination schedule, and adherence was associated with access to the internet/TV/radio (p-value = 0.011), routine prenatal vaccination (p-value = 0.019), safety of the efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccine and partner support (p-value = 0.020). Postpartum women without access to the internet/TV/radio, and who feel confident about the effectiveness of the vaccine, had higher prevalence rates for adhering to COVID-19 vaccination, with PRs of 2.56 and 3.25, respectively. CONCLUSION: there was evidence of low adherence to the vaccination schedule against COVID-19 during the gestational period, considering the number of recommended doses and the interval between them. Therefore, professionals in their clinical practice must make pregnant women aware of the importance of immunization and compliance with the vaccination schedule. BACKGROUND: (1) Maternal vaccination plays a significant role in preventing and combating maternal morbidity. (2) Some factors may influence acceptance or hesitancy of the COVID-19 vaccine during pregnancy. (3) Safety regarding the effectiveness of vaccination against COVID-19 during pregnancy is a factor associated with adherence to COVID-19 vaccines. (4) Postpartum women without access to the internet/TV/radio have 2.56 times the risk of adhering to the COVID-19 vaccination schedule. (5) Health education helps to increase the level of knowledge and acceptance of the vaccine by pregnant women.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To describe a middle range theory (MRT) with conceptual and explicative capacity of cause and effect situations of Ineffective social support network in nursing. DATA SOURCES: Descriptive study developed through the Lopes, Silva, and Herdman theoretical-causal validity method, using five steps for theory construction: definition of the approach for constructing the MRT, definition of the main concepts, development of the pictorial diagram, construction of propositions, and establishment of causal relationships and evidence for practice. The foundation of these steps and the development of a predictive nursing theory occurred through Sanicola's Social Network Theory combined with studies from an integrative literature review using the six steps proposed by Whittemore and Knafl. DATA SYNTHESIS-FINDINGS: The theory presents etiological factors and clinical indicators for Ineffective social support network, connecting situations related to the person, the members and the configuration of this network, and external situations. The pictogram, symbolically created, represents the hierarchical classification of proximal, intermediate, and distal etiological factors, and their relationship with clinical indicators. CONCLUSIONS: The MRT, predictive for the nursing phenomenon Ineffective social support network, provides understanding of the person from an interpersonal perspective, which interferes with and is affected by a network of virtues and vicissitudes, and has negative influences on health outcomes. Due to its practical vocation, this theory represents an advance in the science and praxis of nursing. IMPLICATIONS FOR CLINICAL PRACTICE: The findings of this study will contribute to the understanding of the nursing phenomenon Ineffective social support network and consequently support the identification of the nursing diagnosis Ineffective social support network, proposed for inclusion in the NANDA-I classification.

The objective this study was to evaluate the perceptions of obese adolescents about the repercussions of obesity on their health. This study was based on the statements of fifteen obese adolescents, monitored at the Ambulatory Clinic of the 'Hospital das Clínicas' of the Federal University of Pernambuco, using a semi-structured interview, during the period between April and July of 2007. The statements that resulted from the transcriptions of the recordings were submitted to content analysis--transversal thematic modality. Four topics related to the objectives of the study were identified: (1) the perception of the concept of obesity; (2) obesity affecting the self-image of the individual; (3) obesity versus health and (4) the difficulty in returning to health. The adolescents perceived obesity as a sickness that was negatively affecting their health, and which contributed to their low self-esteem and made them feel isolated. They recognized that being healthy means following a balanced diet and participating in physical activity, and that it is imperative to have formal and informal support to overcome the difficulties in order to maintain a satisfactory quality of life.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Evaluate the knowledge, attitudes and practices of grandmothers that support or discourage the breastfeeding process. METHOD: This is a meta-synthesis based on the theoretical and methodological framework of meta-ethnography developed by Noblit and Hare. A critical evaluation of the articles was conducted using the consolidated criteria for reporting qualitative research (Coreq). Primary and secondary constructs derived from the results of nine articles were grouped into a new theory, leading to tertiary constructs that were presented in a diagram based on the functionality of Sanicola's Social Network Theory. RESULTS: Grandmothers know the benefits of breastfeeding, the importance of a special diet and proper hydration for the production of good quality milk, but report inadequacies in the treatment of breast complications and the need for breast milk complementation before the sixth month of life. These aspects were also observed: religious interference, opposition of ideas about breastfeeding, and family decisions based on the grandmother figure. CONCLUSION: Through knowledge, attitudes and practices, grandmothers, central figures in breastfeeding support, support their daughters and daughters-in-law in breastfeeding or discourage breastfeeding with contrary opinions and inadequate guidance.

RESUMO

Technologies can be promoters of breastfeeding. The scope of this review is therefore to identify health technologies and their contribution to the promotion of breastfeeding. A search was conducted in the following databases: Lilacs, SCOPUS, Medline and CINAHL, using the key words "breastfeeding," "technology" and "health promotion." The final sample consisted of 24 original articles, among which 19 technologies were identified and classified in managerial, educational and healthcare groupings. Educational technologies were predominant (12) and presented greater contributions to the promotion of breastfeeding. The combination of different technologies has revealed positive results in maintaining breastfeeding. The lack of studies with the use of managerial technologies during the lactation process, as well as the development of other research that prove the effects of each technology on increasing the prevalence of breastfeeding, was clearly detected in the review.

OBJECTIVE: to evaluate the effect of the board game as an educational technology on schoolchildren's knowledge on breastfeeding. METHOD: cluster-randomized clinical trial, held in nine schools, with 99 children in the third grade of elementary school (control group = 51 and intervention group = 48). The pretest was conducted in both groups; intervention consisted in the application of the educational technology immediately after pretest to the intervention group; and the post-test was applied on the 7th and 30th days to both groups. For the analysis of children's knowledge on breastfeeding, we considered the pre- and post-test score means, using the Mann-Whitney test - for comparing the means between groups - and the Wilcoxon test - within the same group. RESULTS: there was no statistically significant difference between the groups in the pretest. In the follow-up, when comparing the groups, there were higher means in the intervention group, on the 7th (19.68 ±1.788) and on the 30th (20.16±1.260) days, with statistically significant difference. Within the intervention group, there was significant increase of the means in the pretest (15.89±3.082) for the 30th day (20.16±1.260). CONCLUSION: such educational intervention has significantly contributed to the increase in scores of children's knowledge on breastfeeding for the intervention group. UTN: U1111-1184-7386.
