RESUMO

Bats carry genetically diverse severe acute respiratory syndrome-related coronaviruses (SARSr-CoVs). Some of them utilize human angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (hACE2) as a receptor and cannot efficiently replicate in wild-type mice. Our previous study demonstrated that the bat SARSr-CoV rRsSHC014S induces respiratory infection and lung damage in hACE2 transgenic mice but not wild-type mice. In this study, we generated a mouse-adapted strain of rRsSHC014S, which we named SMA1901, by serial passaging of wild-type virus in BALB/c mice. SMA1901 showed increased infectivity in mouse lungs and induced interstitial lung pneumonia in both young and aged mice after intranasal inoculation. Genome sequencing revealed mutations in not only the spike protein but the whole genome, which may be responsible for the enhanced pathogenicity of SMA1901 in wild-type BALB/c mice. SMA1901 induced age-related mortality similar to that observed in SARS and COVID-19. Drug testing using antibodies and antiviral molecules indicated that this mouse-adapted virus strain can be used to test prophylactic and therapeutic drug candidates against SARSr-CoVs. IMPORTANCE The genetic diversity of SARSr-CoVs in wildlife and their potential risk of cross-species infection highlights the importance of developing a powerful animal model to evaluate the antibodies and antiviral drugs. We acquired the mouse-adapted strain of a bat-origin coronavirus named SMA1901 by natural serial passaging of rRsSHC014S in BALB/c mice. The SMA1901 infection caused interstitial pneumonia and inflammatory immune responses in both young and aged BALB/c mice after intranasal inoculation. Our model exhibited age-related mortality similar to SARS and COVID-19. Therefore, our model will be of high value for investigating the pathogenesis of bat SARSr-CoVs and could serve as a prospective test platform for prophylactic and therapeutic candidates.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which is caused by the novel coronavirus severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), is the most severe emerging infectious disease in the current century. The discovery of SARS-CoV-2-related coronaviruses (SARSr-CoV-2) in bats and pangolins in South Asian countries indicates that SARS-CoV-2 likely originated from wildlife. To date, two SARSr-CoV-2 strains have been isolated from pangolins seized in Guangxi and Guangdong by the customs agency of China, respectively. However, it remains unclear whether these viruses cause disease in animal models and whether they pose a transmission risk to humans. In this study, we investigated the biological features of a SARSr-CoV-2 strain isolated from a smuggled Malayan pangolin (Manis javanica) captured by the Guangxi customs agency, termed MpCoV-GX, in terms of receptor usage, cell tropism, and pathogenicity in wild-type BALB/c mice, human angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2)-transgenic mice, and human ACE2 knock-in mice. We found that MpCoV-GX can utilize ACE2 from humans, pangolins, civets, bats, pigs, and mice for cell entry and infect cell lines derived from humans, monkeys, bats, minks, and pigs. The virus could infect three mouse models but showed limited pathogenicity, with mild peribronchial and perivascular inflammatory cell infiltration observed in lungs. Our results suggest that this SARSr-CoV-2 virus from pangolins has the potential for interspecies infection, but its pathogenicity is mild in mice. Future surveillance among these wildlife hosts of SARSr-CoV-2 is needed to monitor variants that may have higher pathogenicity and higher spillover risk. IMPORTANCE SARS-CoV-2, which likely spilled over from wildlife, is the third highly pathogenic human coronavirus. Being highly transmissible, it is perpetuating a pandemic and continuously posing a severe threat to global public health. Several SARS-CoV-2-related coronaviruses (SARSr-CoV-2) in bats and pangolins have been identified since the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak. It is therefore important to assess their potential of crossing species barriers for better understanding of their risk of future emergence. In this work, we investigated the biological features and pathogenicity of a SARSr-CoV-2 strain isolated from a smuggled Malayan pangolin, named MpCoV-GX. We found that MpCoV-GX can utilize ACE2 from 7 species for cell entry and infect cell lines derived from a variety of mammalian species. MpCoV-GX can infect mice expressing human ACE2 without causing severe disease. These findings suggest the potential of cross-species transmission of MpCoV-GX, and highlight the need of further surveillance of SARSr-CoV-2 in pangolins and other potential animal hosts.

MAIN CONCLUSION: Light quality and intensity regulate plant mesophyll conductance, which has played an essential role in photosynthesis by controlling leaf structural and biochemical properties. Mesophyll conductance (gm), a crucial physiological factor influencing the photosynthetic rate of leaves, is used to describe the resistance of CO2 from the sub-stomatal cavity into the chloroplast up to the carboxylation site. Leaf structural and biochemical components, as well as external environmental factors such as light, temperature, and water, all impact gm. As an essential factor of plant photosynthesis, light affects plant growth and development and plays a vital role in regulating gm as well as determining photosynthesis and yield. This review aimed to summarize the mechanisms of gm response to light. Both structural and biochemical perspectives were combined to reveal the effects of light quality and intensity on the gm, providing a guide for selecting the optimal conditions for intensifying photosynthesis in plants.

Although RNA interference (RNAi) therapy has emerged as a potential tool in cancer therapeutics, the application of RNAi to glioblastoma (GBM) remains a hurdle. Herein, to improve the therapeutic effect of RNAi on GBM, a cancer cell membrane (CCM)-disguised hypoxia-triggered RNAi nanomedicine was developed for short interfering RNA (siRNA) delivery to sensitize cells to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Our synthesized CCM-disguised RNAi nanomedicine showed prolonged blood circulation, high BBB transcytosis and specific accumulation in GBM sites via homotypic recognition. Disruption and effective anti-GBM agents were triggered in the hypoxic region, leading to efficient tumor suppression by using phosphoglycerate kinase 1 (PGK1) silencing to enhance paclitaxel-induced chemotherapy and sensitize hypoxic GBM cells to ionizing radiation. In summary, a biomimetic intelligent RNAi nanomedicine has been developed for siRNA delivery to synergistically mediate a combined chemo/radiotherapy that presents immune-free and hypoxia-triggered properties with high survival rates for orthotopic GBM treatment.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) associated with obesity may progress to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Retinoic acid induced 16 (RAI16) plays an important role in cell apoptosis and is also a potential marker for HCC. Here we aimed to test the effect of RAI16 deficiency on liver pathology in high-fat diet (HFD) fed mice. Wild type (WT) and RAI16 knockout (RAI16-/-) C57BL/6 mice were fed with HFD or chow for up to 12 months. With consumption of HFD diet, RAI16-/- mice on HFD developed much more excess fatty liver within 4 months than WT mice on HFD. The expressions of fatty acid synthesis associated molecules Ppar-γ, Srebp-1c and Fas were further increased in RAI16-/- mice compared with WT mice on HFD. Macrophage infiltration related molecules Mcp-1 and F4/80 and pro-inflammatory factor Lcn2 were significantly increased in RAI16-/- mice compared with WT mice on HFD. Conclusively, RAI16 deficiency exacerbated HFD-induced liver injury, associated with increased inflammation. These findings indicate that RAI16 plays an important role in HFD-induced liver pathology and might be considered as a target for treatment of NAFLD. SIGNIFICANCE: 1. RAI16-/- mice on HFD developed much more excess fatty liver. 2. RAI16-/- mice showed more macrophage infiltration and proinflammation.

The efficient treatment of the problem of air pollution is a practical issue related to human health. The development of multi-functional air treatment filters, which can remove various kinds of pollutants, including particulate matter (PM) and organic gases, is a tireless pursuit aiming to address the actual needs of humans. Advanced materials and nano-manufacturing technology have brought about the opportunity to change conventional air filters for practical demands, with the aim of achieving the high-efficiency utilization of photons, a strong catalytic ability, and the synergetic degradation of multi-pollutants. In this work, visible-responding photocatalytic air treatment filters were prepared and combined with a fast and cost-effective electrospinning process. Firstly, we synthesized Ag-loaded TiO2 nanorod composites with a controlled size and number of loaded Ag nanoparticles. Then, multi-functional air treatment filters were designed by loading catalysts on electrospinning nanofibers combined with a programmable brush. We found that such Ag-TiO2 nanorod composite-loaded nanofibers displayed prominent PM filtration (~90%) and the degradation of organic pollutants (above 90%). The superior performance of purification could be demonstrated in two aspects. One was the improvement of the adsorption of pollutants derived from the increase of the specific surface area after the loading of catalysts, and the other was the plasmonic hot carriers, which induced a broadening of the optical absorption in the visible light range, meaning that many more photons were utilized effectively. The designed air treatment filters with synergistic effects for eliminating both PM and organic pollutants have promising potential for the future design and application of novel air treatment devices.

In this study, a novel monolithic capillary column based on a NH2-MIL-53(Al) metal-organic framework (MOF) incorporated in poly (3-acrylamidophenylboronic acid/methacrylic acid-co-ethylene glycol dimethacrylate) (poly (AAPBA/MAA-co-EGDMA)) was prepared using an in situ polymerization method. The characteristics of the MOF-polymer monolithic column were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometry, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller analysis, and thermogravimetric analysis. The prepared MOF-polymer monolithic column showed good permeability, high extraction efficiency, chemical stability, and good reproducibility. The MOF-polymer monolithic column was used for in-tube solid-phase microextraction (SPME) to efficiently adsorb trace sulfonamides from food samples. A novel method combining MOF-polymer-monolithic-column-based SPME with ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS) was successfully developed. The linear range was from 0.015 to 25.0 µg/L, with low limits of detection of 1.3-4.7 ng/L and relative standard deviations (RSDs) of < 6.1%. Eight trace sulfonamides in fish and chicken samples were determined, with recoveries of the eight analytes ranging from 85.7% to 113% and acceptable RSDs of < 7.3%. These results demonstrate that the novel MOF-polymer-monolithic-column-based SPME coupled with UHPLC-MS/MS is a highly sensitive, practical, and convenient method for monitoring trace sulfonamides in food samples previously extracted with an adequate solvent.

In this work, we successfully developed a novel and sensitive gas sensor for the determination of trace acetophenone based on its cataluminescence (CTL) emission on the surface of nano-praseodymium oxide (nano-Pr6O11). The effects of working conditions such as temperature, flow rate, and detecting wavelength on the CTL sensing were investigated in detail. Under the optimized conditions, the sensor exhibited linear response to the acetophenone in the range of 15-280 mg/m3 (2.8-52 ppm), with a correlation coefficient (R2) of 0.9968 and a limit of detection (S/N = 3) of 4 mg/m3 (0.7 ppm). The selectivity of the sensor was also investigated, no or weak response to other compounds, such as alcohols (methanol, ethanol, n-propanol, iso-propanol, n-butanol), aldehyde (formaldehyde and acetaldehyde), benzenes (toluene, o-xylene, m-xylene, p-xylene), n-pentane, ethyl acetate, ammonia, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide. Finally, the present sensor was applied to the determination of acetophenone in human exhaled breath samples. The results showed that the sensor has promising application in clinical breath analysis.

The aim of this study was to investigate the underlying mechanisms of hypoxia-induced apoptosis of GC-2spd (GC-2) cells. The GC-2 cells were treated with or without hypoxia for 12, 24, 48, and 72 h. Apoptosis of GC-2 cells was detected using TUNEL and flow cytometry. Fluorescence microscopic was used to observe the autophagy of GC-2 cells. Hypoxia-inducible factor-1alpha (HIF-1α), apoptosis-related protein and marker protein of autophagy levels were measured by Western blotting. Hypoxia induced apoptosis and autophagy of GC-2 cells, and increased expression of HIF-1α, LC3-II, Beclin-1, and pro-apoptotic protein, but reduced p62 and anti-apoptotic protein level. Meanwhile, hypoxia-induced HIF-1α mediated expression of apoptosis and autophagy-related protein in GC-2 cell. Furthermore, autophagy regulated hypoxia-induced apoptosis of GC-2 cell. Our data suggest that hypoxia induces apoptosis of GC-2 cell by activation of autophagy involving activation of the apoptosis signaling pathway under the hypoxic condition.

MAIN CONCLUSION : Large-scale comparative phosphoprotein analysis in maize seedlings reveals a complicated molecular regulation mechanism at the phosphoproteomic level during de-etiolation. In the present study we report a phosphoproteomic study conducted on Zea mays etiolated leaves harvested at three time points during greening (etiolated seedlings and seedlings exposed to light for 6 or 12 h). We identified a total of 2483 phosphopeptides containing 2389 unambiguous phosphosites from 1339 proteins. The abundance of nearly 692 phosphorylated peptides containing 783 phosphosites was reproducible and profiled with high confidence among treatments. Comparisons with other large-scale phosphoproteomic studies revealed that 473 of the phosphosites are novel to this study. Of the 783 phosphosites identified, 171, 79, and 138 were identified in 0, 6, and 12 h samples, respectively, which suggest that regulation of phosphorylation plays important roles during maize seedling de-etiolation. Our experimental methods included enrichment of phosphoproteins, allowing the identification of a great number of low abundance proteins, such as transcription factors, protein kinases, and photoreceptors. Most of the identified phosphoproteins were involved in gene transcription, post-transcriptional regulation, or signal transduction, and only a few were involved in photosynthesis and carbon metabolism. It is noteworthy that tyrosine phosphorylation and calcium signaling pathways might play important roles during maize seedling de-etiolation. Taken together, we have elucidated a new level of complexity in light-induced reversible protein phosphorylation during maize seedling de-etiolation.

Survival in infants younger than 1 year who have acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is inferior whether MLL is rearranged (R) or germline (G). MLL translocations confer chemotherapy resistance, and infants experience excess complications. We characterized in vitro sensitivity to the pan-antiapoptotic BCL-2 family inhibitor obatoclax mesylate in diagnostic leukemia cells from 54 infants with ALL/bilineal acute leukemia because of the role of prosurvival BCL-2 proteins in resistance, their imbalanced expression in infant ALL, and evidence of obatoclax activity with a favorable toxicity profile in early adult leukemia trials. Overall, half maximal effective concentrations (EC50s) were lower than 176 nM (the maximal plasma concentration [Cmax] with recommended adult dose) in 76% of samples, whether in MLL-AF4, MLL-ENL, or other MLL-R or MLL-G subsets, and regardless of patients' poor prognostic features. However, MLL status and partner genes correlated with EC50. Combined approaches including flow cytometry, Western blot, obatoclax treatment with death pathway inhibition, microarray analyses, and/or electron microscopy indicated a unique killing mechanism involving apoptosis, necroptosis, and autophagy in MLL-AF4 ALL cell lines and primary MLL-R and MLL-G infant ALL cells. This in vitro obatoclax activity and its multiple killing mechanisms across molecular cytogenetic subsets provide a rationale to incorporate a similarly acting compound into combination strategies to combat infant ALL.

AIM: Intracellular Ca(2+) ([Ca(2+)]i) overload occurs in myocardial ischemia. An increase in the late sodium current (INaL) causes intracellular Na(+) overload and subsequently [Ca(2+)]i overload via the reverse-mode sodium-calcium exchanger (NCX). Thus, inhibition of INaL is a potential therapeutic target for cardiac diseases associated with [Ca(2+)]i overload. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of ketamine on Na(+)-dependent Ca(2+) overload in ventricular myocytes in vitro. METHODS: Ventricular myocytes were enzymatically isolated from hearts of rabbits. INaL, NCX current (INCX) and L-type Ca(2+) current (ICaL) were recorded using whole-cell patch-clamp technique. Myocyte shortening and [Ca(2+)]i transients were measured simultaneously using a video-based edge detection and dual excitation fluorescence photomultiplier system. RESULTS: Ketamine (20, 40, 80 µmol/L) inhibited INaL in a concentration-dependent manner. In the presence of sea anemone toxin II (ATX, 30 nmol/L), INaL was augmented by more than 3-fold, while ketamine concentration-dependently suppressed the ATX-augmented INaL. Ketamine (40 µmol/L) also significantly suppressed hypoxia or H2O2-induced enhancement of INaL. Furthermore, ketamine concentration-dependently attenuated ATX-induced enhancement of reverse-mode INCX. In addition, ketamine (40 µmol/L) inhibited ICaL by 33.4%. In the presence of ATX (3 nmol/L), the rate and amplitude of cell shortening and relaxation, the diastolic [Ca(2+)]i, and the rate and amplitude of [Ca(2+)]i rise and decay were significantly increased, which were reverted to control levels by tetrodotoxin (TTX, 2 µmol/L) or by ketamine (40 µmol/L). CONCLUSION: Ketamine protects isolated rabbit ventricular myocytes against [Ca(2+)]i overload by inhibiting INaL and ICaL.

Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK)-the major decarboxylase in PEPCK-type C4 plants-is also present in appreciable amounts in the bundle sheath cells of NADP-malic enzyme-type C4 plants, such as maize (Zea mays), where it plays an apparent crucial role during photosynthesis (Wingler et al., in Plant Physiol 120(2):539-546, 1999; Furumoto et al., in Plant Mol Biol 41(3):301-311, 1999). Herein, we describe the use of mass spectrometry to demonstrate phosphorylation of maize PEPCK residues Ser55, Thr58, Thr59, and Thr120. Western blotting indicated that the extent of Ser55 phosphorylation dramatically increases in the leaves of maize seedlings when the seedlings are transferred from darkness to light, and decreases in the leaves of seedlings transferred from light to darkness. The effect of light on phosphorylation of this residue is opposite that of the effect of light on PEPCK activity, with the decarboxylase activity of PEPCK being less in illuminated leaves than in leaves left in the dark. This inverse relationship between PEPCK activity and the extent of phosphorylation suggests that the suppressive effect of light on PEPCK decarboxylation activity might be mediated by reversible phosphorylation of Ser55.

Salt (NaCl) is a common physiological stressor of plants. To better understand how germinating seeds respond to salt stress, we examined the changes that occurred in the proteome of maize seeds during NaCl-treated germination. Phenotypically, salt concentrations less than 0.2 M appear to delay germination, while higher concentrations disrupt development completely, leading to seed death. The identities of 96 proteins with expression levels altered by NaCl-incubation were established using 2-DE-MALDI-TOF-MS and 2-DE-MALDI-TOF-MS/MS. Of these 96 proteins, 79 were altered greater than twofold when incubated with a 0.2 M salt solution, while 51 were altered when incubated with a 0.1 M salt solution. According to their functional annotations in the Swiss-Prot protein-sequence databases, these proteins are mainly involved in seed storage, energy metabolism, stress response, and protein metabolism. Notably, the expression of proteins that respond to abscisic acid signals increased in response to salt stress. The results of this study provide important clues as to how NaCl stresses the physiology of germinating maize seeds.

OBJECTIVE: To screen and characterize the aptamer of Escherichia coli outer member protein tolC. METHODS: By using the recombinant E.coli outer member protein tolC for the screening target, oligonucleotides which were capable of specifically binding to the protein were screened from a random oligonucleotide library through the stematic evolution of ligand by exponential enrichment (SELEX) technique. The binding capacity of ssDNA to the targeted protein from each round was detected by the FITC fluorescence labeling technique.The ssDNA from the last cycle was cloned and sequenced,and the second structure was further analyzed by the DNAMan program. RESULTS: After 12 cycles of selection, 40 clones were selected randomly and sequenced. Although a unique conserved sequence was not obtained among the 23 obtained aptamers by the primary structure analysis,three pairs of aptamers and two pairs of aptamers were found to be identical.Analysis of the secondary structure revealed that the stem-loop and bulge loop were the main motifs,indicating that they might play a key role in the binding of aptamers to the target protein. According to the characteristic of the second structure,23 aptamers were divided into four families,and aptamer 20 bore the greatest affinity. CONCLUSION: Aptamers against E.coli outer member protein tolC were successfully identified by the SELEX method. The results laid a foundation for the investigation of the interference to the drug resistance of E. coli and the underlying mechanisms.

Background: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is the most common benign disease causing voiding dysfunction in middle-aged and elderly men. the current "gold standard" for surgical treatment is transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). Continuous bladder irrigation (CBI) is routinely given for 3 to 5 days after operation. However, this may induce bladder spasm. Bladder spasm not only brings physical and mental pain to patients, delaying the postoperative recovery process, but it also increases the medical economic burden. Therefore, it is important to take active measures to effectively warn and deal with bladder spasm. The color of the drainage fluid is an important indicator and requires close observation during CBI, as it can reflect real-time postoperative bleeding. When the color of drainage fluid is abnormal, effective measures should be undertaken. Grading nursing intervention divides patients into different conditions according to their possible changes, and then recommends targeted nursing intervention. Existing studies have formulated CBI programs from the perspective of quantifying the relationship between drainage fluid color and irrigation speed, but have yet to incorporate bladder spasm prevention and control levels or design corresponding grading nursing intervention programs according to different drainage fluid colors. This study aimed to construct the risk warning classification and intervention plan of bladder spasm under the guidance of CBI speed adjusting card after TURP. Methods: Based on the rate adjustment card of CBI after TURP, we formulated the first draft of an early warning classification of risk in bladder spasm and its intervention plans by combining methods suggested from a literature search with semi-structured interviews and results from 2 rounds of correspondence inquiries with 28 experts by the Delphi method. We further screened and revised grading standards and measures. Results: The positive coefficients of experts in 2 rounds of correspondence inquiries were both 100%, the authority coefficients were both 0.952, and the Kendall harmony coefficients were 0.238 and 0.326, respectively (P<0.01). In the second round of correspondence inquiries, the coefficient of variation of expert opinions was 0.000-0.154, and the coefficient of variation of all items was <0.25. Finally, a 3-level risk warning classification standard and 23 nursing measures for CBI complicated by bladder spasm was constructed. Conclusions: The early warning classification of risk in bladder spasm and its intervention plans guided by rate adjustment card of CBI after TURP are scientific and feasible, and can provide a basis and guidance for effective and standardized CBI in patients after TURP.

This study was aimed at determining the population pharmacokinetics of digoxin and identifying factors that explain pharmacokinetic variability in elderly patients. The data of 142 elderly patients and 448 samples were collected after repetitive oral digoxin. Blood samples were drawn at various times after administration. Population pharmacokinetic analysis was performed using nonlinear mixed effects modelling program (NONMEM). A one-compartment model with first-order absorption and elimination was selected as the base model. The influence of demographic characteristics, biochemical and haematological indices as well as other commonly used co-medications were explored. The typical values with interindividual variability for apparent clearance (CL/F) and apparent volume of distribution (V/F) were 8.9 L h(-1) (43.2 %) and 420 L (65.8 %), respectively. The residual variability was 31.6 %. CL/F decreased significantly with renal function, total body weight, calcium channel blockers or spironolactone co-therapy and symptom with congestive heart failure. The median parameter estimates from a nonparametric bootstrap procedure were comparable and within 5 % of the estimates from NONMEM. These results provide important information for clinicians to optimize digoxin regimens in elderly patients.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the impact of college students' evening exercise on their sleep quality, so as to provide a scientific basis for college students to choose an appropriate method of exercise and improve their sleep quality. METHODS: From September to October in 2012, Multi-stage cluster random sampling method was used to select the 5997 college students in Anhui province. The status of college students' exercise and their sleep quality were investigated by the general situation questionnaire, Physical activity rating scale-3(PARS-3), Rating of perceived exertion(RPE) and Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI). Kruskal-Wallis test was used to analyze the impact of evening exercise on sleep quality and multivariate unconditional logistic regression was used to analyze the factors of sleep quality in evening excise students. RESULTS: The median of PSQI total score among 5806 college students was 5 and 1030(17.7%) students had poor sleep quality. The median of the PSQI scores was the same (5 points) for evening exercise group, daytime exercise group,daytime and evening exercise group and non-exercise group (1406, 1514, 1244, 1642 respectively). The difference was not statistically significant (χ(2) = 2.80, P = 0.42). Compared to non-exercise population, the OR (95%CI) value of evening exercise' impact on sleep quality was 0.90(0.73-1.10). Compared to very light evening exercise, the OR (95%CI) value of moderate and large amount of evening exercise' impact on sleep quality was 0.58 (0.44-0.75) and 0.67 (0.48-0.93) respectively; Compared to other sports, the OR (95%CI) value of badminton, rope skipping and jogging' impact on sleep quality was 0.72 (0.55-0.93), 0.38 (0.21-0.70) and 0.76 (0.60-0.95) respectively and they were all protective factors of sleep quality. Compared to small exercise intensity, the OR (95%CI) value of moderate, vigorous and very vigorous exercise intensity' impact on sleep quality was 1.68 (1.13-2.52), 2.38 (1.48-3.83) and 3.18 (1.72-5.90) respectively and they were harmful factors of sleep quality. CONCLUSION: There was no impact of evening exercise on sleep quality for college students. Type of sports should be adequately chosen for evening exercise. College students can take moderate and large amount of evening exercise but should avoid activities of vigorous intensity.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the safety of meningococcal group AC bivalent polysaccharide conjugate vaccine among children aged 5-24 months old. METHODS: From July 2011 to June 2012, a total of 34 411 children aged 5-24 month-old who voluntarily vaccinated meningococcal group AC bivalent polysaccharide conjugate vaccine in Zhongshan city were included. The adverse effects within 72 hours were recorded and analyzed. RESULTS: 34 411 children were recruited, including 18 708 boys (54.36%), whose mean age were ( 11.4 ± 3.9 ) months old.Within 72 hours, the incidence rates of local adverse effects were 0.76% (261/34 411) for erythema,0.57% (197/34 411) for sclerosis,0.56% (191/34 411) for swelling,0.42% (143/34 411) for pain,0.15% (53/34 411) for pruritus, and 0.15% (50/34 411) for rash on the injection site. The overall incidence rate of local adverse effects was 1.61% (554/34 411; 95%CI:1.48%-1.74%). The incidence rates of systemic adverse effects were 0.98% (312/34 411) for fever,0.48% (164/34 411) for anorexia,0.31% (108/34 411) for diarrhea,0.29% (100/34 411) for malaise,0.20% (70/34 411) for nausea and vomiting, and 0.08% (26/34 411) for headache. The overall incidence rate of systemic adverse effects was 1.64% (565/34 411; 95%CI:1.51%-1.78%).25 children (0.07%) had hyperpyrexia ( > 39°C), and the time of duration lasted less than 48 hours.16 children (0.05%) had symptoms of cold, such as cough and catarrh.No accident and other serious events were reported. The incidence rate of systemic adverse effects among boys was 1.79% (334/18 708), which was higher than that of girls (1.47%, 231/15 703), the difference showed statistical significance (χ(2) = 5.22, P < 0.01). The incidence rate of systemic adverse effects among children aged 5-12 month-old was 1.78% (411/23 113), which was higher than that among children aged 13-24 month-old (1.36%, 154/11 298), the difference showed statistical significance (χ(2) = 8.10, P < 0.01). The incidence rate of local adverse effects in children vaccinated the first dose was 1.72% (536/31 129), which was higher than that in children vaccinated the second or third dose (0.55%, 18/3282), the difference showed statistical significance (χ(2) = 25.81, P < 0.01). The incidence rate of systemic adverse effects in children vaccinated the first dose was 1.73% (539/31 129), which was higher than that in children vaccinated the second or third dose (0.79%, 26/5282), whose difference also showed statistical significance (χ(2) = 16.22, P < 0.01). CONCLUSION: The safety of meningococcal group AC bivalent polysaccharide conjugate vaccine among children aged 5-24 months old is relative good.
