RESUMO

An elegant Lewis acid catalyzed, protection-free, and straightforward synthetic strategy for the assembly of a series of sophisticated polycyclic quinoline skeletons employing propargylic alcohols and 2-vinylanilines as the substrates in the presence of Yb(OTf)3 (10 mol %) and AgOTf (10 mol %) in tetrahydrofuran has been described. This annulation protocol, which proceeds through a sequential Meyer-Schuster rearrangement/nucleophilic substitution/deprotonation sequence, provides a versatile, practical, and atom-economical approach for accessing quinoline derivatives in moderate-to-good yields.

RESUMO

Beijing is one of the most polluted cities in the world. In this study, the long-term and continuous measurements of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the urban area of Beijing, specifically at Beijing 325 m Meteorological Tower, were conducted from 2000 to 2007. The annual record of VOC trends exhibited in two different phases was separated in 2003. Records show that VOC concentrations increased from 2000 to 2003 due to the abrupt increase in vehicle number. Contrarily, since 2003, there had been a decrease in VOCs concentrations as the policy on gasoline and air pollution was implemented. Toluene, benzene, and i-pentane are the chemicals that abound in and are directly related to vehicle activity, such as in vehicle exhaust and gasoline evaporation. Furthermore, records indicate that there had been seasonal variation in VOCs levels in that VOCs level in summer is higher than that in winter. As such, temperature is considered to significantly contribute to VOCs in Beijing. Records also show that VOCs level was high in the morning and during rush hours in the evening. In contrast, VOCs level was low during midday due to photochemical destruction with OH radical and dilution effect. In this study, a particular benzene to toluene ratio range (0.4-1.0) was used as the indicator of air propelled by vehicular exhaust. We also applied the correlation coefficients between BTEX and i-pentane to evaluate evaporation influence to ambient BTEX in the Beijing urban area.

RESUMO

African swine fever is an acute, severe and highly contagious infectious disease caused by African swine fever virus (ASFV), posing a huge threat to the global swine industry. Rapid and accurate diagnostic methods are of great significance for the effective prevention and control of ASFV transmission. In this work, we established and evaluated a graphene oxide-based accelerated strand exchange amplification (GO-ASEA) method for rapid, highly sensitive, and quantitative detection of ASFV. The use of GO provided a novel solution reference for improving the specificity of strand exchange amplification and solving the potential false positive problem caused by primer dimers. The detection limit of the GO-ASEA assay was 5.8 × 10-1 copies per µL of ASFV (equal to 2.9 copies per reaction) or 5.8 × 100 copies per µL of ASFV in spiked swine nasal swabs. The selectivity of the GO-ASEA assay was supported by the ASFV DNA reference material and another seven porcine-derived viruses with similar clinical symptoms. The GO-ASEA assay took only about 29 minutes and was validated with 6 inactivated specimens and 52 swine nasal swabs, showing excellent clinical applicability. The novel assay is an accurate and practical method for rapid, highly sensitive detection of ASFV, and can potentially serve as a robust tool in epidemic prevention and point-of-care diagnosis.
