INTRODUCTION: Controversy surrounds the long-term clinical benefit of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) using dual arterial grafts (DAGs) compared to single arterial grafts (SAGs). We investigated outcomes of DAG, using single internal thoracic artery and radial artery (DAG-RA) or bilateral internal thoracic artery grafts (DAG-BITA), compared to SAG, using the left internal thoracic artery and saphenous vein grafts, in the U.S. Veterans Health Administration (VA). METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional study of U.S. Veterans undergoing isolated on-pump CABG between 2005 and 2015 at 44 VA medical centers. The primary composite outcome was first occurrence of a major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular event (MACCE), comprised of death from any cause, myocardial infarction, stroke, or repeat revascularization. RESULTS: Among 25,969 Veterans undergoing isolated CABG, 1261 (4.9%) underwent DAG (66.8% DAG-RA and 33.2% DAG-BITA). Over a 5-y follow-up, DAG was associated with lower rates of all-cause death (adjusted hazard ratio [AHR] 0.70, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.58-0.85), MACCE (AHR 0.80, 95% CI 0.71-0.91), and stroke (AHR 0.74, 95% CI 0.57-0.96) versus SAG. DAG-BITA was associated with lower rates of all-cause death (AHR 0.52, 95% CI 0.35-0.77) and MACCE (AHR 0.66, 95% CI 0.51-0.84) than SAG, while DAG-RA was associated with lower rates of all-cause death (AHR 0.79, 95% CI 0.64-0.99). CONCLUSIONS: In the VA, DAG was associated with improved long-term MACCE outcomes compared to SAG. These results suggest that the practice of DAG in the VA benefits Veterans and should be promoted further.

Night work is frequently associated with sleep deprivation and is associated with greater surgical and medical complications. Lung transplantation (LT) is carried out both at night and during the day and involves many medical healthcare workers. The goal of the study was to compare morbidity and mortality between LT recipients according to LT operative time. We performed a retrospective, observational, single-center study. When the procedure started between 6 AM and 6 PM, the patient was allocated to the Daytime group. If the procedure started between 6 PM and 6 AM, the patient was allocated to the Nighttime group. Between January 2015 and December 2020, 253 patients were included. A total of 168 (66%) patients were classified into the Day group, and 85 (34%) patients were classified into the Night group. Lung Donors' general characteristics were similar between the groups. The 90-day and one-year mortality rates were similar between the groups (90-days: n = 13 (15%) vs. n = 26 (15%), p = 0.970; 1 year: n = 18 (21%) vs. n = 42 (25%), p = 0.499). Daytime LT was associated with more one-year airway dehiscence (n = 36 (21%) vs. n = 6 (7.1%), p = 0.004). In conclusion, among patients who underwent LT, there was no significant association between operative time and survival.

BACKGROUND: Prior studies have assessed the impact of the pretransplantation recipient body mass index (BMI) on patient outcomes after lung transplantation (LT), but they have not specifically addressed early postoperative complications. Moreover, the impact of donor BMI on these complications has not been evaluated. The first aim of this study was to assess complications during hospitalization in the ICU after LT according to donor and recipient pretransplantation BMI. METHODS: All the recipients who underwent LT at Bichat Claude Bernard Hospital, Paris, between January 2016 and August 2022 were included in this observational retrospective monocentric study. Postoperative complications were analyzed according to recipient and donor BMIs. Univariate and multivariate analyses were also performed. The 90-day and one-year survival rates were studied. P < 0.05 was considered to indicate statistical significance. The Paris-North Hospitals Institutional Review Board approved the study. RESULTS: A total of 304 recipients were analyzed. Being underweight was observed in 41 (13%) recipients, a normal weight in 130 (43%) recipients, and being overweight/obese in 133 (44%) recipients. ECMO support during surgery was significantly more common in the overweight/obese group (p = 0.021), as were respiratory complications (primary graft dysfunction (PGD) (p = 0.006), grade 3 PDG (p = 0.018), neuroblocking agent administration (p = 0.008), prone positioning (p = 0.007)), and KDIGO 3 acute kidney injury (p = 0.036). However, pretransplantation overweight/obese status was not an independent risk factor for 90-day mortality. An overweight or obese donor was associated with a decreased PaO2/FiO2 ratio before organ donation (p < 0.001), without affecting morbidity or mortality after LT. CONCLUSION: Pretransplantation overweight/obesity in recipients is strongly associated with respiratory and renal complications during hospitalization in the ICU after LT.

PURPOSE: To assess the Consultation And Relational Empathy (CARE) measure as a tool for examiners to assess medical students' empathy during Objective and Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs), as the best tool for assessing empathy during OSCEs remains unknown. METHODS: We first assessed the psychometric properties of the CARE measure, completed simultaneously by examiners and standardized patients (SP, either teachers - SPteacher - or civil society members - SPcivil society), for each student, at the end of an OSCE station. We then assessed the qualitative/quantitative agreement between examiners and SP. RESULTS: We included 129 students, distributed in eight groups, four groups for each SP type. The CARE measure showed satisfactory psychometric properties in the context of the study but moderate, and even poor inter-rater reliability for some items. Considering paired observations, examiners scored lower than SPs (p < 0.001) regardless of the SP type. However, the difference in score was greater when the SP was a SPteacher rather than a SPcivil society (p < 0.01). CONCLUSION: Despite acceptable psychometric properties, inter-rater reliability of the CARE measure between examiners and SP was unsatisfactory. The choice of examiner as well as the type of SP seems critical to ensure a fair measure of empathy during OSCEs.

This work aimed to isolate and characterize a novel chitin-degrading bacterium from Yok Don National Park, Vietnam, for crop production studies. Among the chitinolytic isolates, strain YSY-4.3 was selected, which grew rapidly and produced a large halo around the colony. 16S rDNA analysis indicated that the strain is a novel species in the genus Paenibacillus, and an in vitro evaluation showed that the strain produced phytohormones (IAA, GA3, and zeatin), biofilms, and siderophores; possessed cellulase; and exerted antifungal activity. The whole genome of the strain was 5,628,400 bp with 49.3% GC content, 5056 coding sequences, 48 tRNA, and 1 rRNA. It shared the highest values of digital DNA-DNA hybridization (67.4%) and average nucleotide identity (89.54%) with those of Paenibacillus woosongensis B2_4 (CP126084.1), suggesting a novel species. Of the coding sequences, 4287 proteins were identified by COG, and 2561 were assigned by KEGG. The genome contained at least 51 genes involved in plant growth and resistance to heavy-metal toxicity and 359 carbohydrate-active enzymes. The chitinolytic system of the strain was composed of 15 enzymes, among them, PsChiC, which contained a GH18 catalytic domain and a GH5 catalytic domain, had not been previously reported. In addition, the genome possessed 15 gene clusters encoding antimicrobial metabolites, 10 of which are possible novel clusters. This study expands knowledge regarding novel chitinolytic bacteria from Yok Don National Park and provides a valuable gene resource for future studies.

Pesticides are on the list of substances that are routinely monitored by agencies and organizations in various natural environments and habitats. Diazinon (DZN) is the active ingredient in more than 20 agricultural pesticides, it causes the most damage and has been prohibited in many countries around the world. The final product CoWO4/g-C3N4 Z-scheme heterojunction was successfully synthesized in this work, where CoWO4 nanoparticles were deposited on the surface of g-C3N4. CoWO4/g-C3N4 structure allowed for the efficient separation of photo-generated electron-hole pairs, with electrons at the CoWO4 CB migrating to the g-C3N4 VB and preserving the electrons at the g-C3N4 CB and holes in the CoWO4 VB. The photodegradation efficiency of DZN using CoWO4/g-C3N4 Z-scheme heterojunction was investigated, as compared with its precursors, such as CoWO4, and g-C3N4. CoWO4/g-C3N4 Z-scheme heterojunction demonstrated the highest degradation capacity for DZN removal. Based on the results, the photocatalysis of the CoWO4/g-C3N4 Z-scheme heterojunction can be recycled for the effective removal of DZN by simple washing after three runs, proving the heterojunction's stability and suggesting CoWO4 as a promising material for the removal of DZN from contaminated water sources.

Ethanol is the most commonly encountered substance in forensic toxicology. Determining blood alcohol concentration (BAC) in autopsies accounts for the majority of work in forensic diagnosis. The most common method to assess BAC is the enzymatic oxidation method because of its low cost, easy operation, and high throughput. Still, the elevated lactate and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels in postmortem blood may affect accuracy. This study uses headspace gas chromatography with a flame ionization detector (HS-GC/FID) to assess the interference of lactate and LDH levels on BAC in 110 autopsied blood samples determined by the enzymatic oxidation method. The results showed that lactate and LDH levels in postmortem blood were higher than in normal blood. There was a weak correlation between the lactate levels and BAC difference (r = 0.23, p < 0.05) and a strong correlation between LDH levels and BAC difference (r = 0.67, p < 0.001). The differentiation of BAC between the enzymatic oxidation method and HS-GC/FID was significant (p < 0.001), confirming the interference significantly. All postmortem blood samples with lactate and LDH levels higher than regular lead to a positive error in determining BAC by enzymatic oxidation method. The study results suggest that the HS-GC/FID method should be used to determine BAC in postmortem blood samples instead of the enzymatic oxidation method to avoid mistakes in forensic diagnosis.

Fruit quality traits are determined to a large extent by their metabolome. The metabolite content of climacteric fruit changes drastically during ripening and post-harvest storage, and has been investigated extensively. However, the spatial distribution of metabolites and how it changes in time has received much less attention as fruit are usually considered as homogenous plant organs. Yet, spatio-temporal changes of starch, which is hydrolyzed during ripening, has been used for a long time as a ripening index. As vascular transport of water, and hence convective transport of metabolites, slows down in mature fruit and even stalls after detachment, spatio-temporal changes in their concentration are probably affected by diffusive transport of gaseous molecules that act as substrate (O2), inhibitor (CO2), or regulator (ethylene and NO) of the metabolic pathways that are active during climacteric ripening. In this review, we discuss such spatio-temporal changes of the metabolome and how they are affected by transport of metabolic gases and gaseous hormones. As there are currently no techniques available to measure the metabolite distribution repeatedly by non-destructive means, we introduce reaction-diffusion models as an in silico tool to compute it. We show how the different components of such a model can be integrated and used to better understand the role of spatio-temporal changes of the metabolome in ripening and post-harvest storage of climacteric fruit that is detached from the plant, and discuss future research needs.

Crosstalk between hormones and secondary metabolites regulates the interactions between plants and stress. However, little is known about the effects of hormone crosstalk on the concentration of flavonoids in seeds. In this study, we identified abscisic acid (ABA) as a negative regulator of flavonoid accumulation in soybean seeds under drought-stress conditions. Alterations in flavonoid accumulation at several intensities of water stress, followed by a recovery period, were measured during the soybean seed-filling stage. Low soil moisture (SM 10%) significantly decreased the total flavonoid content in seeds. The decline in flavonoid content was proportional to the severity of drought stress and was dependent on the activities of phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (PAL) and chalcone synthase (CHS), two key phenylpropanoid pathway enzymes. The expression of phenylalanine ammonia-lyase 1 (GmPAL1), chalcone isomerase 1A (GmCHI1A), and chalcone synthase 8 (GmCHS8) was associated with phenolic and flavonoid accumulation in soybean seeds of plants subjected to drought stress. Interestingly, the expression levels of GmCHS8 were highly correlated with flavonoid levels under drought stress and water recovery conditions. Cinnamic acid, which is a biosynthesis precursor shared by both phenylpropanoid metabolism and salicylic acid (SA) biosynthesis, decreased under drought stress conditions. Notably, exogenous ABA suppressed the expression of GmPAL1, which encodes the first rate-limiting enzyme in the phenylpropanoid biosynthesis pathway and affects downstream products such as SA and flavonoids. In conclusion, drought stress altered the phenylpropanoid-derived compounds, at least with regard to flavonoid and SA accumulation in seeds, which was regulated by antagonistic interactions with ABA.

Corynebacterium spp. are associated with respiratory infections in immunocompromised hosts. A link with bronchial complications after lung transplantation (LTx) has been suggested. We aimed to assess the link between respiratory sampling of Corynebacterium spp. and significant bronchial complication (SBC) after LTx. We performed a single center retrospective study. Inclusion of LTx recipients with at least one respiratory Corynebacterium spp. sample (July 2014 to December 2018). Subjects were matched to unexposed LTx recipients. Primary outcome was SBC occurrence after Corynebacterium spp. isolation. Secondary outcomes were Corynebacterium spp. persistent sampling, chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD) onset and all-cause mortality. Fifty-nine patients with Corynebacterium spp. sampling with 59 without isolation were included. Corynebacterium spp. identification was not associated with SBC occurrence (32.4% vs. 21.6%, p = 0.342). Previous SBC was associated with further isolation of Corynebacterium spp. (OR 3.94, 95% CI [1.72-9.05]). Previous SBC and corticosteroids pulses in the last 3 months were the only factors associated with increased risk of Corynebacterium spp. isolation in multivariate analysis. Corynebacterium spp. sampling was significantly associated with CLAD onset (27.1% vs. 6.9%, p = 0.021). Corynebacterium spp. isolation was not associated with SBC but with higher risk of CLAD. Whether CLAD evolution is affected by Corynebacterium spp. eradication remains to be investigated.

High-density lipoproteins (HDLs), whose main role is the reverse transport of cholesterol, also have pleiotropic anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-apoptotic and anti-infectious properties. During sepsis, HDL cholesterol (HDL-C) concentration is low, HDL particle functionality is altered, and these modifications are correlated with poor outcomes. Based on the protective effects of HDL, we hypothesized that HDL-C levels could be associated with lung transplantation (LT) outcome. We thus looked for an association between basal HDL-C concentration and one-year mortality after LT. In this single-center prospective study including consecutive LTs from 2015 to 2020, 215 patients were included, essentially pulmonary fibrosis (47%) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (38%) patients. Mortality rate at one-year was 23%. Basal HDL-C concentration stratified nonsurvivors to survivors at one-year (HDL-C = 1.26 [1.12-1.62] mmol/L vs. HDL-C = 1.55 [1.22-1.97] mmol/L, p = 0.006). Multivariate analysis confirmed that HDL-C concentration during the pretransplant assessment period was the only variable inversely associated with mortality. Moreover, mortality at one-year in patients with HDL-C concentrations ≤1.45 mmol/L was significantly higher (log-rank test, p = 0.00085). In conclusion, low basal HDL-C concentrations in candidates for LT are strongly associated with mortality after LT. To better understand this association, further studies in this field are essential and, in particular, a better characterization of HDL particles seems necessary.

The prevalence, risk factors and outcomes associated with culture-positive preservation fluid (PF) after lung transplantation (LT) are unknown. From January 2015 to December 2020, the microbiologic analyses of PF used to store the cold ischaemia-placed lung graft(s) of 271 lung transplant patients were retrospectively studied. Culture-positive PF was defined as the growth of any microorganism. Eighty-three (30.6%) patients were transplanted with lung grafts stored in a culture-positive PF. One-third of culture-positive PF were polymicrobial. Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli were the most frequently isolated microorganisms. No risk factors for culture-positive PF based on donor characteristics were identified. Forty (40/83; 48.2%) patients had postoperative pneumonia on Day 0 and 2 (2/83; 2.4%) patients had pleural empyema with at least one identical bacteria isolated in culture-positive PF. The 30-day survival rate was lower for patients with culture-positive PF compared with patients with culture-negative PF (85.5% vs. 94.7%, p = 0.01). Culture-positive PF has a high prevalence and may decrease lung transplant recipient survival. Further studies are required to confirm these results and improve understanding of the pathogenesis of culture-positive PF and their management.

Beryllium is a vital alkaline-earth metal for plasma physics, space science, and nuclear technology. Unfortunately, its accurate phase diagram is clouded by many controversial results, even though solid beryllium can only exist with hcp or bcc crystalline structures. Herein, we offer a simple quantum-statistical solution to the above problem. Our core idea is to develop the moment expansion technique to determine the Helmholtz free energy under extreme conditions. This strategy helps elucidate the underlying correlation among symmetric characteristics, vibrational excitations, and physical stabilities. In particular, our analyses reveal that the appearance of anharmonic effects forcefully straightens up the hcp-bcc boundary. This phenomenon explains why it has been difficult to detect bcc signatures via diamond-anvil-cell measurements. Besides, we modify the work-heat equivalence principle to quickly obtain the high-pressure melting profile from the room-temperature equation of state. The hcp-bcc-liquid triple point of beryllium is found at 165 GPa and 4559 K. Our theoretical findings agree excellently with cutting-edge ab initio simulations adopting the phonon quasiparticle method and the thermodynamic integration. Finally, we consider the principal Hugoniot curve and its secondary branches to explore the behaviors of beryllium under shock compression. Our predictions would be advantageous for designing inertial-confinement-fusion experiments.

AIMS: This study focused on the isolation and characterization of chitinolytic bacteria from Yok Don National Park, Vietnam for future studies regarding biofertilizers and biocontrol agents. METHODS AND RESULTS: Chitinolytic bacteria were isolated from soils and chitin flakes soaked in river water at the National Park. On the basis of the halo zones caused by colloidal chitin degradation and colony morphologies, 12 chitinolytic strains were chosen from 15 700 isolates for various examinations. Findings from 16S rDNA analysis indicated that among these strains, 10 could be identified as different species, and the remaining 2 showed less identity to known species and genera. The 12 bacteria possess numerous properties concerning plant growth promotion and/or phytopathogenic biocontrol. Paenibacillus chitinolyticus YSY-3.1, which exhibited the highest chitinase activity and remarkable properties for plant growth, was chosen for sequencing and draft genome analysis. The results showed that the genome is 6571 781 bp in length with 6194 coding sequences, 52.2% G + C, and 96.53% ANI value. It harbors the chitinolytic system comprising 22 enzymes. Among these enzymes, PcChiQ has a loop structure different from that of known family 19 chitinases, PcChiA contains two GH18 catalytic domains rarely found in microorganisms, and PcChiF contains three GH18 catalytic domains that have never been reported. CONCLUSIONS: The 12 identified chitinolytic bacteria exhibit great potential for further studies on plant growth-promoting and/or biocontrol properties. Among these bacteria, two strains might be good candidates for next examinations concerning novel species and/or genera, and strain YSY-3.1 could possess a novel chitinolytic system.

BACKGROUND: In clinical obstetrics, many guidelines recommended the use of Doppler fetal ductus venosus blood flow to monitor and to manage fetal growth restriction (FGR). The ductus venosus and the pulmonary venous flow pattern of fetuses are similar. Umbilical artery pH (UA pH) is essential in identifying adverse pregnancy outcomes, particularly in fetal growth restriction cases. Nevertheless, the literature indicates that the relationship between pulmonary vein pulsatility index (PVPI) and UA pH in FGR cases has not been well investigated. This study aimed to identify the alteration in PVPI in FGR cases and evaluate the correlation between PVPI and UA pH in FGR newborns. METHODS: This matched cohort study of singleton pregnancies from 28+ 0 to 40+ 0 weeks of gestation without congenital abnormalities included 135 cases of FGR (disease group) and 135 cases of normal growth (control group). The PVPI was measured at the proximal segment of the right or left pulmonary vein, approximately 5 mm from the left atrium wall. The umbilical artery pulsatility index (UAPI) was measured on the free umbilical cord. An elective cesarean section or labor induction are both options for ending the pregnancy, depending on the condition of the mother or fetus. Umbilical artery blood samples were collected within 5 min of delivery for UA pH measurement. SPSS version 20 and Medcalc version 20.1 were used for data analysis. RESULTS: FGR cases had a significantly higher mean fetal PVPI than the control group (1.16 ± 0.26 vs. 0.84 ± 0.16; p < 0.01), and PVPI and UAPI were positively correlated (r = 0.63; p < 0.001). PVPI and UA pH were negatively correlated in FGR patients, with r = -0.68; p < 0.001. The PVPI value on the 95th percentile had a prognostic value of UA pH < 7.20 with a sensitivity of 88.2%, specificity of 66.3%, positive predictive value of 46.9%, and negative predictive value of 94.3%. CONCLUSIONS: There was a statistically significant difference in PVPI values in FGR cases compared to the normal growth group, a positive correlation between PVPI and UAPI, and a negative correlation between PVPI and UA pH. PVPI might have a prognostic meaning in predicting UA pH at birth.

OBJECTIVE: Objective structured clinical examinations (OSCE) are one of the main modalities of skills' assessment of medical students. We aimed to evaluate the educational value of the participation of third-year medical students in OSCE as standardized patients. METHODS: We conducted a pilot OSCE session where third-year students participated in sixth-year students' OSCE as standardized patients (cases). Their scores in their own subsequent OSCE exams were compared with third-year students who had not participated (controls). Students' perceptions (stress, preparedness, ease) regarding their OSCE were compared with self-administered questionnaires. RESULTS: A total of 42 students were included (9 cases and 33 controls). Median [IQR] overall score (out of 20 points) obtained by the cases was 17 [16.3-18] versus 14.5 [12.7-16.3] for controls (p < 0.001). Students' perception of their evaluation (difficulty, stress, communication) was not significantly different between cases and controls. Most cases agreed that their participation was beneficial in reducing their stress (67%), increasing their preparedness (78%) and improving their communication skills (100%). All cases agreed that this participation should be offered more widely. CONCLUSION: Students' participation in OSCE as standardized patients led to better performance on their own OSCE and were considered beneficial. This approach could be more broadly generalized to improve student performance.

BACKGROUND: While the role of Extended Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma (eFAST) is well defined in the management of severe blunt trauma, its performance in injuries caused by stab wounds has been poorly assessed. METHODS: Prospective single centre study which included all patients with stab wounds to the thorax or abdomen between December 2016 and December 2018. All patients underwent initial investigation with both eFAST and CT scan, except in cases of haemodynamic or respiratory instability, and in cases with a positive diagnosis by eFAST in which case surgery without CT scan was performed. RESULTS: Of the 200 consecutive patients included, 14 unstable patients underwent surgery immediately after eFAST. In these 14 patients, 9 had cardiac tamponade identified by eFAST and all were confirmed by surgery. In the remaining 186 patients, the median time between eFAST and CT scan was 30 min (IQR 20-49 min). Test characteristics (including 95% CI) for eFAST compared with reference standard of CT scan for detecting pneumothorax were as follows: sensitivity 77% (54%-92%), specificity 93% (90%-97%), positive predictive value (PPV) 60% (49%-83%), negative predictive value (NPV) 97% (93%-99%). Test characteristics (including 95% CI) for eFAST compared with CT scan for detecting haemothorax were as follows: sensitivity 97% (74%-99%), specificity 96% (92%-98%), PPV 83% (63%-93%) and NPV 99% (96%-100%). Finally, test characteristics (including 95% CI) for eFAST compared with CT scan for detecting haemoperitoneum were as follows: sensitivity 75% (35%-97%), specificity 97% (93%-99%), PPV 55% (23%-83%) and NPV 99% (96%-99%). CONCLUSIONS: In patients admitted with stab wounds to the torso, eFAST was not sensitive enough to diagnose pneumothorax and haemoperitoneum, but performed better in the detection of cardiac tamponade and haemothorax than the other injuries. More robust multicentre studies are needed to better define the role of eFAST in this specific population.

Computer vision plays a significant role in mobile robot navigation due to the wealth of information extracted from digital images. Mobile robots localize and move to the intended destination based on the captured images. Due to the complexity of the environment, obstacle avoidance still requires a complex sensor system with a high computational efficiency requirement. This study offers a real-time solution to the problem of extracting corridor scenes from a single image using a lightweight semantic segmentation model integrating with the quantization technique to reduce the numerous training parameters and computational costs. The proposed model consists of an FCN as the decoder and MobilenetV2 as the decoder (with multi-scale fusion). This combination allows us to significantly minimize computation time while achieving high precision. Moreover, in this study, we also propose to use the Balance Cross-Entropy loss function to handle diverse datasets, especially those with class imbalances and to integrate a number of techniques, for example, the Adam optimizer and Gaussian filters, to enhance segmentation performance. The results demonstrate that our model can outperform baselines across different datasets. Moreover, when being applied to practical experiments with a real mobile robot, the proposed model's performance is still consistent, supporting the optimal path planning, allowing the mobile robot to efficiently and effectively avoid the obstacles.

This paper investigates the security-reliability of simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT)-assisted amplify-and-forward (AF) full-duplex (FD) relay networks. In practice, an AF-FD relay harvests energy from the source (S) using the power-splitting (PS) protocol. We propose an analysis of the related reliability and security by deriving closed-form formulas for outage probability (OP) and intercept probability (IP). The next contribution of this research is an asymptotic analysis of OP and IP, which was generated to obtain more insight into important system parameters. We validate the analytical formulas and analyze the impact on the key system parameters using Monte Carlo simulations. Finally, we propose a deep learning network (DNN) with minimal computation complexity and great accuracy for OP and IP predictions. The effects of the system's primary parameters on OP and IP are examined and described, along with the numerical data.
RESUMO
Introduction: Telepharmacy is widely known as the delivery of pharmacy care offered by registered pharmacists and pharmacies using telecommunication technologies to patients at a distance. We conducted a systematic review of the reported usages, benefits, and limitations of telepharmacy models worldwide to further clarify the pros and cons of a telepharmacy model. Methods: A total of 39 relevant articles was included after searching for articles with a fixed term on four databases, including PubMed, Virtual Health Library (VHL), Global Health Library (GHL), and Google Scholar, as of April 2021. Results: Our review suggested that telepharmacy has played an essential role in addressing pharmacist shortages and helping patients both safely and effectively administer medications in underserved areas. During the COVID-19 pandemic, remote dispensing and counseling are effective measures to avoid infection. Conclusion: Telepharmacy could potentially replace or complement pharmaceutical-related activities, facilitating future innovation in the health care industry.
