RESUMO
Congenital limb deformities are very rare conditions and the knowledge about etiology, pathogenesis, clinical presentation and treatment is still poor. Moreover, many defects are still not reported in veterinary literature. This report documents clinical and radiographic findings in three dogs with congenital deformity involving the distal extremities. Case 1 was affected with bilateral aphalangia of the pedes, case 2 presented a combination of brachydactyly and syndactyly, whereas in case 3 a unilateral ectrodactyly was observed. To the authors' knowledge, brachydactyly, as well as aphalangia, are very uncommon anomalies and have been rarely documented. Moreover, association between syndactyly and brachydactyly has still not been reported.
RESUMO
A theoretical and experimental analysis of group velocity reduction in periodic superstructure Bragg gratings is presented. Experimental demonstration of group velocity reduction of sub-nanosecond pulses at the wavelength of optical communications is reported using a Moiré fiber grating.
RESUMO
Optical burst amplification in a gain-stabilized amplifier may generate complex gain dynamics with nonlinear behavior. This phenomenon is thoroughly investigated by using a theoretical model and dedicated experiments. Design guidelines for optimized devices avoiding optical burst transmission impairments are proposed.
RESUMO
Laser action is demonstrated in a 20-mm-long waveguide fabricated on an Er:Yb-doped phosphate glass by femtosecond laser pulses. An output power of 1.7 mW with approximately 300 mW of pump power coupled into the waveguide is obtained at 1533.5 nm. Waveguides are manufactured with the 520-nm radiation from a frequency-doubled, diode-pumped, cavity-dumped Yb:glass laser operating at a 166-KHz repetition rate, with a 300-fs pulse duration.
