INTRODUCTION: The staging and treatment of axillary nodes in breast cancer have become a focus of research. For breast cancer patients with fine-needle aspiration-or core needle biopsy-confirmed positive nodes, axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) is still a standard treatment. However, some patients achieve an axillary pathologic complete response (pCR) after NAC. In this study, the authors sought to construct a model to predict axillary pCR in patients with positive axillary lymph nodes (cN+) breast cancer. METHODS: Data from patients with pathologically proven cN+ breast cancer treated with NAC followed by ALND between January 2010 and April 2019 at the Peking University Cancer Hospital were reviewed. Axillary lymph node status was assessed using ultrasonography before and after NAC. The patient cohort was assigned to the construction and internal validation cohorts according to admission time. A nomogram was constructed based on the significant factors associated with axillary pCR. The predictive performance of the model was externally validated using data from Peking University First Hospital. RESULTS: This study included 953 and 267 patients from Peking University Cancer Hospital and Peking University First Hospital, respectively. In the construction cohort, 39.7% (238 of 600) of patients achieved axillary pCR after NAC. The result of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that tumor grade, clinical nodal response, NAC regimen, tumor pCR, lymphovascular invasion, and tumor biologic subtype were significant independent predictors of ypN0 (p < 0.05). The areas under the receiver operating characteristic curves for the construction, validation, and independent testing cohorts were 0.87 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.84-0.90), 0.83 (95% CI, 0.79-0.87), and 0.84 (0.79-0.89), respectively. CONCLUSIONS: A nomogram was constructed to predict the pCR of axillary lymph nodes after NAC for breast cancer. Validation of both the internal and external cohorts achieved good predictive performance, indicating that the model has preliminary clinical application prospects.

While designing anisotropic noble metal nanoparticles (NPs) can enhance the signal intensity of Raman dyes, more sensitive surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) probes can be designed by oriented self-assembly of noble metal nanomaterials into dimers or higher-order nanoclusters. In this study, we engineered a self-assembly strategy in living cells for real-time fluorescence and SERS dual-channel detection of intracellular microRNAs (miRNAs), using Mg2+-dependent 8-17E DNAzyme sequences as the driving motors, gold nanocubes (AuNCs) as the driver components, and three-branched double-stranded DNA as the linking tool. The assembly selects adenine in DNA as a reporter molecule, simplifying the labeling process of Raman reporter molecules and reducing the synthesis process. In addition, adenine is stably distributed between the faces of AuNCs and the wide hotspot region gives good reproducibility of the adenine SERS signal. In this strategy, the SERS channel was consistently stable and more sensitive compared to the fluorescence channel. Among them, the detection limit of the SERS channel was 2.1 pM and the coefficient of variation was 1.26% in the in vitro liquid phase and 1.49% in MCF-7 cells. The strategy successfully achieved accurate tracking and quantification of miRNA-21 in cancer cells, showing good reproducibility in complex samples as well as cells. The reported strategy provides ideas for exploring intracellular specific triggering of nanoparticles for precise control of self-assembly.

BACKGROUND: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a prevalent type of gastrointestinal cancer, and its poor prognosis is mainly attributed to the occurrence of invasion and metastasis. CYP1B1-AS1, as non-coding RNA, plays an important role in tumorigenesis and progression. However, the mechanism by which CYP1B1-AS1 acts in CRC is not yet understood. AIMS: The objective of this study was to investigate how CYP1B1-AS1 contributes to the development of CRC, and provide a base for CRC diagnosis and treatment. METHODS: RT-qPCR was used to detect the expression level of CYP1B1-AS1 in CRC and adjacent tissues. CCK-8, Edu, scratch healing, and transwell experiments were used to detect the changes of proliferation, migration, and invasion ability of CRC cells after overexpression or knockdown of CYP1B1-AS1 respectively. The RNA binding protein NOP58 combined with CYP1B1-AS1 was verified by RIP and RNA Pull-down experiments. Functional recovery experiments validated the interaction between CYP1B1-AS1 and NOP58 in CRC cells. The changes of EMT-related proteins were detected by Western blot, and the half-life of transcription factor SNAIL mRNA were detected by RT-qPCR after overexpression or knockdown of NOP58. RESULTS: CYP1B1-AS1 was found to be significantly downregulated in CRC compared to adjacent noncancerous tissues. Experiments conducted in vitro and in vivo confirmed that upregulation of CYP1B1-AS1 significantly inhibited the proliferation, migration, and invasion of CRC cells. In addition, CYP1B1-AS1 can directly bind to NOP58 and negatively regulate NOP58. The effect of overexpression CYP1B1-AS1 was reversed by NOP58 overexpression. NOP58 regulates the EMT process of CRC cells by affecting the stability of EMT-related transcription factor SNAIL mRNA, and then affects the progress of CRC. CONCLUSION: This research proves that CYP1B1-AS1 can inhibit the occurrence of EMT in CRC by binding with NOP58, thus delaying the progress of CRC. This finding indicates that CYP1B1-AS1 may be a novel biomarker to improve the diagnosis and treatment of CRC.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an idiopathic chronic intestinal inflammation. An increasing body of evidence shows that macrophages play an important role in the pathogenesis of UC. Interferon regulatory factor 4 (IRF4) is crucial for the development of autoimmune diseases via regulating immune cells. This research was designed to explore the function of IRF4 in UC and its association with macrophage polarization. The in vitro model of UC was established by stimulating colonic epithelial cells with tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α). A mouse model of UC was constructed by injecting C57BL/6 mice with dextran sulfate sodium salt. Flow cytometry was used to assess percentage of CD11b+ CD86+ and CD11b+ CD206+ cells in bone marrow macrophages. Occult blood tests were used to detect hematochezia. Hematoxylin and eosin staining assay was used to assess colon pathological changes. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect concentrations of inflammatory cytokines. The interaction of IRF4 and B-cell lymphoma 6 (Bcl6) was confirmed using GST pull-down and coimmunoprecipitation assays. Our findings revealed that IRF4 promoted cell apoptosis and stimulated M1 macrophage polarization in vitro. Furthermore, IRF4 aggravated symptoms of the mouse model of UC and aggravated M1 macrophage polarization in vivo. IRF4 negatively regulated Bcl6 expression. Downregulation of Bcl6 promoted apoptosis and M1 macrophage polarization in the presence of IRF4 in vitro and in vivo. Moreover, Bcl6 positively mediated the Janus kinase 2 (JAK2)/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) signaling pathway. In conclusion, IRF4 aggravated UC progression through promoting M1 macrophage polarization via Bcl6/JAK2/STAT3 pathway. These findings suggested that IRF4 might be a good target to competitively inhibit or to treat with UC.

This study aims to investigate the role of anoikis-related genes in diabetic foot (DF) by utilizing bioinformatics analysis to identify key genes associated with anoikis in DF. We selected the GEO datasets GSE7014, GSE80178 and GSE68183 for the extraction and analysis of differentially expressed anoikis-related genes (DE-ARGs). GO analysis and KEGG analysis indicated that DE-ARGs in DF were primarily enriched in apoptosis, positive regulation of MAPK cascade, anoikis, focal adhesion and the PI3K-Akt signalling pathway. Based on the LASSO and SVM-RFE algorithms, we identified six characteristic genes. ROC curve analysis revealed that these six characteristic genes had an area under the curve (AUC) greater than 0.7, indicating good diagnostic efficacy. Expression analysis in the validation set revealed downregulation of CALR in DF, consistent with the training set results. GSEA results demonstrated that CALR was mainly enriched in blood vessel morphogenesis, endothelial cell migration, ECM-receptor interaction and focal adhesion. The HPA database revealed that CALR was moderately enriched in endothelial cells, and CALR was found to interact with 63 protein-coding genes. Functional analysis with DAVID suggested that CALR and associated genes were enriched in the phagosome component. CALR shows promise as a potential marker for the development and treatment of DF.

It is well accepted that ultrasound-induced microbubble (USMB) cavitation is a promising method for drug delivery. Ultrasound-targeted destruction of cytotoxic drug-loaded lipid microbubbles (LMs) is used to promote the treatment of cancer. This study aimed to investigate the antitumor effects from a combination of docetaxel-loaded cationic lipid microbubbles (DLLM+) and ultrasound (US)-triggered microbubble destruction (UTMD) on gastric cancer (GC). It was found that the functional dose of DOC in this study was 1 × 10-9 mol/L. We found that DLLM combined with the UTMD group showed greater growth inhibition of the cultured human gastric cancer cells (HGCCs) when compared with the other five groups by arresting the G2/M phase in the cell cycle. However, DLLM+ combined with UTMD showed a higher inhibition rate of tumor growth than DLLM combined with UTMD and that of the RC/CMV-p16 combined with UTMD in vitro and in vivo experiments. DLLM+ combined with UTMD significantly suppressed proliferation and promoted the apoptosis of HGCCs with more cells arrested in the G2/M phase. In addition, DLLM+ combined with UTMD suppressed the proliferation and induced apoptosis by arresting cells in the G2/M phase, which led to a great inhibition of GC progression. Thus, our results indicated that the combination of DLLM+ and UTMD might represent a novel and promising approach to chemotherapy for GC.

In this paper, we propose and evaluate two spatial division transmission (SDT) schemes, including spatial division diversity (SDD) and spatial division multiplexing (SDM), for underwater visible light communication (UVLC) systems. Moreover, three pairwise coding (PWC) schemes, including two one-dimensional PWC (1D-PWC) schemes, i.e., subcarrier PWC (SC-PWC) and spatial channel PWC (SCH-PWC), and one two-dimensional PWC (2D-PWC) scheme are further applied for signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) imbalance mitigation in the UVLC systems using SDD and SDM with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation. The feasibility and superiority of applying SDD and SDM with various PWC schemes in a practical bandlimited two-channel OFDM-based UVLC system have been verified through both numerical simulations and hardware experiments. The obtained results show that the performance of SDD and SDM schemes are largely determined by both the overall SNR imbalance and the system spectral efficiency. Moreover, the experimental results demonstrate the robustness of SDM with 2D-PWC against bubble turbulence. Specifically, SDM with 2D-PWC can obtain bit error rates (BERs) under the 7% forward error correction (FEC) coding limit of 3.8 × 10-3 with a probability higher than 96% for a signal bandwidth of 70 MHz and a spectral efficiency of 8 bits/s/Hz, achieving an overall data rate of 560 Mbits/s.

BACKGROUND: Solute carrier family 25 member 32 (SLC25A32) is an important member of SLC25A family and plays a role in folate transport metabolism. However, the mechanism and function of SLC25A32 in the progression of human glioblastoma (GBM) remain unclear. METHODS: In this study, folate related gene analysis was performed to explore gene expression profiles in low-grade glioma (LGG) and GBM. Western blotting, real-time quantitative PCR (qRT-PCR), and immunohistochemistry (IHC) were used to confirm the expression levels of SLC25A32 in GBM tissues and cell lines. CCK-8 assays, colony formation assays, and Edu assays were performed to assess the role of SLC25A32 on proliferation in GBM in vitro. A 3D sphere invasion assay and an ex vivo co-culture invasion model were performed to assess the effects of SLC25A32 on invasion in GBM. RESULTS: Elevated expression of SLC25A32 was observed in GBM, and high SLC25A32 expression was associated with a high glioma grade and poorer prognosis. Immunohistochemistry performed with anti-SLC25A32 on samples from an independent cohort of patients confirmed these results. Knockdown of SLC25A32 inhibited the proliferation and invasion of GBM cells, but overexpression of SLC25A32 significantly promoted cell growth and invasion. These effects were mainly due to the activation of the PI3K-AKT-mTOR signaling pathway. CONCLUSION: Our study demonstrated that SLC25A32 plays a significant role in promoting the malignant phenotype of GBM. Therefore, SLC25A32 can be used as an independent prognostic factor in patients with GBM, providing a new target for the comprehensive treatment of GBM.

Herein, we designed and synthesized a series of rare earth doped BiOF/Bi2MoO6 heterojunctions. The doping locations of rare earth ions were altered to determine the influence on the visible and near-infrared photocatalytic activity of heterojunctions. It is experimentally and theoretically confirmed that doping with Tm3+/Yb3+ in one semiconductor of the heterojunction produces superior photocatalytic efficiency than doping in both semiconductors. In addition, the near infrared photocatalytic efficiency strongly relied on upconversion luminescence from the Re3+ doped semiconductor in the heterojunction. By further modifying with CQDs, the CQDs/BiOF:Tm3+,Yb3+/Bi2MoO6 sample shows excellent visible and near-infrared photocatalytic performance, with 90% degradation of RhB occurring in the first 20 min under visible irradiation. This can be attributed to the large BET area, efficient photoinduced carrier separation and the upconversion process of the composite. This research will provide a systematic solution for realizing full-spectrum responsive and highly efficient photocatalysis by combination of rare earth ion doping, quantum dot modification and Z-scheme heterojunctions.

The preparation of an electrocatalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) with high catalytic activity, good long-term durability and rapid reaction kinetics through interface engineering is of great significance. Herein, we have developed a bimetallic sulfide particle cluster-supported three-dimensional graphene aerogel (FeNiS@GA), which serves as an efficient electrocatalyst for OER, by a one-step hydrothermal method. Profiting from the synergy of the FeNiS particle cluster with high capacitance and GA with its three-dimensional porous nanostructure, FeNiS@GA shows a high specific surface area, large pore volume, low contact resistance, and decreases the electron and ion transport routes. FeNiS@GA exhibits outstanding OER activity (when the current density is 50 mA cm-2, the overpotential is 341 mV), low Tafel slope (63.87 mV dec-1) and remarkable stability in alkaline solutions, outperforming FeNiS, NiS@GA, FeS@GA and RuO2. Due to its simple synthesis process and excellent electrocatalytic performance, FeNiS@GA shows great potential to replace noble metal-based catalysts in practical applications.

PURPOSE: Little is known about sexual dysfunction and sexual distress in Chinese female breast cancer survivors (BCSs), and their associations with physical variables, psychological factors, body image, and sexual attitudes. METHODS: A cross-sectional study of 341 BCSs was performed with the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) and Female Sexual Distress Scale-Revised (FSDS-R). Associations between physical variables, psychological factors, body image, sexual attitudes, sexual dysfunction, and sexual distress were evaluated using logistic regression, adjusted for confounding factors. RESULTS: We found that 75.37% and 18.48% of BCSs reported sexual dysfunction and sexual distress during the past month, respectively. Attitudes toward sexual behavior such as "sexual activity may impede disease recovery," "sexual activity may cause cancer recurrence or metastasis," and "sexual activity may weaken treatment effects" were significantly associated with an increased likelihood of reporting sexual dysfunction and sexual distress. Body image disruption such as "felt physically less attractive as a result of your disease or treatment" was significantly associated with the experience of sexual distress. CONCLUSION: Sexual dysfunction and sexual distress are common issues in Chinese BCSs. Sexual misconception likely contributes to sexual dysfunction and sexual distress, and body image has a significantly negative association with sexual distress in BCSs. Interventions targeting sexual attitudes and body image might be important to address BCSs' sexual issues and improve their overall sexual health.

BACKGROUND: Aorto-ventricular tunnel (AVT) is an abnormal communication channel between the ascending aorta and the ventricle. It commonly has two orifices, i.e., one aortic opening and one ventricular opening. In this study, we present a unique case of AVT with three orifices: one aortic opening, one LV opening, and one RV opening. CASE PRESENTATION: A 64-year-old male presented with chest discomfort and dyspnea on exertion lasting the past six months. Physical examination revealed a grade 4/6 continuous biphasic murmur along the left sternal edge and a grade 3/6 systolic murmur at the apex. Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) demonstrated: (1) an AVT with three orifices, i.e., one aortic opening, one LV opening, and one RV opening. The LV and RV openings were located in the left and right ventricular outflow tracts, respectively. (2) The aortic valve (AV) was calcified with a small aneurysm at the non-coronary cusp. (3)The mitral valve (MV) chordal rupture of the P2 and P3 segments was observed in the posterior leaflet with severe eccentric regurgitation. Subsequent coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA) further confirmed the diagnosis of AVT with three openings, and clarified the coronary arteries normally arose from the aortic sinuses. The patient was then referred for surgical treatment, consisting of closure of three AVT orifices, AV replacement, and MV replacement. Six months following surgery, the patient was asymptomatic. TTE demonstrated normal mechanic AV and MV function, and there was no residual shunt among the ascending aorta, LV and RV. CONCLUSIONS: It is the first case to report an AVT with three orifices. This paper described the entire process from diagnosis to treatment of this unique case, thus providing some novel insights into AVT.

The objective of this study is to preliminarily investigate the surgical safety, efficacy, techniques, and clinical value of fully neuroendoscopic surgery for the resection of cerebellopontine angle (CPA) tumors via a retrosigmoid approach. The clinical data of 47 cerebellopontine angle area (CPA) tumors that were treated by full neuroendoscopic surgery from June 2014 to June 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. The efficacy and advantages of the surgical techniques were evaluated based on indicators such as duration of the surgery, neuroendoscopic techniques, intraoperative integrity of nerves and blood vessels, extent of tumor resection, outcomes or postoperative symptoms, and incidence of complications. The 47 cases of cerebellopontine angle tumors include 34 cases of epidermoid cysts, 7 cases of vestibular schwannomas, and 6 cases of meningiomas. All patients underwent fully neuroendoscopic surgery. Twenty tumors were removed using the one-surgeon two-hands technique, and 27 tumors were removed using the two-surgeons four-hands technique. The anatomical integrity of the affected cranial nerves was preserved in all 47 cases. None of the patients suffered a postoperative hemorrhage, cerebrospinal fluid leak, and aseptic or septic meningitis, or died. The rate of total tumor resection was 72.3% (34/47), and the symptom improvement rate was 89.4% (42/47). All patients were followed up for 2 to 12 months, and none died nor showed any signs of tumor recurrence. By analyzing 47 fully neuroendoscopic resections of CPA tumors using the posterior sigmoid sinus approach in our center, we believe that such method allows complete, safe, and effective resection of CPA tumors and is thereby worthy of clinical promotion.

Airy light-sheet microscopy is rapidly gaining importance for imaging intact biological specimens because of the rapid speed, high resolution, and wide field nature of the imaging method. However, the depth of field (DOF) of the detection objective imposes limitations on the modulation transfer function (MTF) of the light sheet, which in turn affects the size of the field of view (FOV). Here we present an optimized phase modulation model, based on 'Airy-like' beam family, to stretch the curved lobes, which brings a wider FOV while maintaining high resolution. In addition, we further develop a planar 'Airy-like' light-sheet by two-photon excitation which can avoid the deconvolution process. We validated the new imaging method by performing a real-time monitoring of the dynamic process of cerebral hemorrhage in zebrafish larva. The proposed Airy-like beam-based light-sheet microscopy has great potential to be applied to the precise screening of cerebral hemorrhage-related drugs to help precision medicine in the future.

Coinage metal-promoted 5-exo and 6-endo selective cyclization of 2-(1-alkynyl)benzaldimines has been studied. It was found that, under gold catalysis, 2-(1-alkynyl)benzaldimines exclusively underwent 5-exo-dig cyclization processes, followed by oxidation to form N-aryl 3-methyleneisoindolin-1-ones. In contrast, in the presence of base and under activation of AgOTf, switching of 5-exo to 6-endo cyclizations of 2-(1-alkynyl)benzaldimines was observed, exclusively giving N-aryl or N-alkyl substituted isoquinolinium salts. The two key reaction intermediates, exocyclic vinyl-Au and the endocyclic vinyl-Ag species have been isolated and characterized, and a study of their reactivities confirms the plausible mechanisms. Reactions of the resultant 3-methyleneisoindolin-1-ones with benzyne afforded structurally important isoindolinone-based benzocyclobutenes. Additionally, several interesting transformations of the resultant isoquinolinium salts have been investigated.

BACKGROUND: Sexual satisfaction is one of the issues faced by breast cancer survivors (BCSs). AIM: This study aims to explore the mediation of stigma in the relationship between perceived social support (PSS) and sexual satisfaction among breast cancer survivors. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 918 BCSs in Shanghai Cancer Rehabilitation Club. Data were collected using an online questionnaire including questions on sociodemographic characteristics, health status, PSS, stigma and sexual satisfaction of participants. The bootstrap method was used to test the significance of the simple mediation model. OUTCOMES: The simple mediation of stigma was found significant in the relationship between PSS and sexual satisfaction. RESULTS: Stigma plays an intermediary role in the relationship between 2 dimensions of PSS (family and friends) and sexual satisfaction, but not in the relationship between the dimension of other significant people of PSS and sexual satisfaction. CLINICAL TRANSLATION: It is important to reduce stigma when improving the sexual satisfaction of BCSs from the perspective of PSS. STRENGTHS & LIMITATIONS: The mediating role of stigma in the relationship between PSS and sexual satisfaction among BCSs has been shown for the first time. Study limitations include limitations in the representativeness of population by the study sample and the cross-sectional study design. BACKGROUND: To study the effects of subthalamic nucleus-deep brain stimulation (STN-DBS) on autonomic dysfunctions in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients. METHODS: A total of 57 PD patients who underwent bilateral STN-DBS from March to December 2018, were retrospectively analyzed. Preplanned assessments at baseline and postoperatively at 1, 3, and 6 months also included the Scales for Outcomes in Parkinson's Disease-Autonomic questionnaire (SCOPA-Aut), the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) III score, levodopa equivalent day dose (LEDD), Parkinson's Disease Quality of Life Scale (PDQ-39), the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAMA), and the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD). RESULTS: The SCOPA-Aut scores improved significantly [14.59% (18.32%), 24.00% (27.05%), 22.16% (27.07%), all P < 0.001] at 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months of STN-DBS, respectively. Analysis of the SCOPA-Aut sub-items showed significant improvements only in urine and thermoregulation sub-items at 6 months after surgery (P < 0.001). There was no significant correlation between improvements of SCOPA-Aut scores and improvements of PDQ-39 scores (P > 0.05) at 6 months after surgery. SCOPA-Aut scores were positively correlated with age (r = 0.428, P = 0.001); the improvements of SCCOPA-Aut scores were positively correlated with improvements of HAMA and HAMD scores (HAMA: r = 0.325, P = 0.015; HAMD: r = 0.265, P = 0.049) at 6 months after surgery. CONCLUSION: STN-DBS improved autonomic dysfunction symptoms of PD patients, and urinary and thermoregulatory sub-items of autonomic dysfunction were improved in the short-term after surgery. There was a close relationship between improved autonomic symptoms and improved anxiety and depression 6 months after surgery. We should therefore direct more attention to autonomic dysfunctions in PD involving detailed preoperative evaluations and postoperative follow-ups, to improve the quality of life of patients.

BACKGROUND: Middle aortic coarctation (MAC), also known as middle aortic syndrome, is an atypical aortic coarctation characterized by narrowing of the distal thoracic aorta and proximal abdominal aorta. MAC is a rare disease commonly diagnosed by computed tomography angiography (CTA). In this paper, we present a case of long-segmental MAC first diagnosed by transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) and further evaluated by CTA. CASE PRESENTATION: A 14-year-old girl, with dyspnea and fatigue on exertion for 2 months and refractory hypertension for 6 months, was referred by the local clinic to our hospital. Physical examination showed blood pressure up to 176/100 mmHg measured in the arms despite dual antihypertensives, a marked pressure gradient between her arms and legs, and weak pulses in both dorsal pedes arteries. TTE revealed a segmental narrowing in the descending thoracic aorta below the level of the atrioventricular sulcus, with a calcified plaque in the stenotic region. Abdominal vascular ultrasound revealed the segmental narrowing extending to the descending abdominal aorta (5.7 mm in diameter) above the level of the superior mesenteric artery. Subsequently, CTA verified a long-segment narrowing in the descending aorta from the level of T8 to L2 vertebra, with a calcified plaque in the stenotic aorta, right renal artery involvement, and a rich network of collateral vessels between the pre-and post-stenotic region. The patient was referred for cardiovascular surgery in which a successful ascending aorta-abdominal aorta bypass was performed. CONCLUSIONS: Although MAC is usually diagnosed by CTA, it may also be first diagnosed by TTE in some patients whose longitudinal axis view of the thoracic descending aorta could be shown. Careful TTE scan can improve the diagnostic rate of MAC, especially for some hypertension patients whose marked pressure gradient between arms and legs was ignored by the physician.

PURPOSE: This study aims to explore the association between mindfulness and social engagement among Chinese breast cancer survivors (BCSs) and the mediator role of stigma in the relation of mindfulness and social engagement. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was conducted among 937 BCSs from March to April 2021 in Shanghai, China. Data were collected using the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale, the Stigma Scale for Chronic Illness 8-item version, and the index of social engagement. Descriptive statistics, independent-sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, and regression analyses were used to explore the role of stigma in the association of mindfulness and social engagement among Chinese BCSs. RESULTS: Social engagement levels differed significantly by participant's BMI, education level, employment status, personal monthly income, monthly per capita household income. Mindfulness was positively correlated with social engagement, and stigma was negatively correlated with mindfulness and social engagement among Chinese BCSs. Stigma plays a complete mediating role in the relationship between mindfulness and social engagement in BCSs. CONCLUSION: In the practice of individual mindfulness intervention on social engagement of BCSs, health care providers should identify and eliminate the constraints, which restrain the reduction of stigma level while individual mindfulness is being enhanced.

OBJECTIVE: This study investigates the serial multiple mediation of job stress and perceived behavioral control (PBC) in the relationship between social support and oral health behavior (OHB). MATERIALS AND METHODS: This cross-sectional study was conducted in Minhang District, Shanghai, China, between July and November 2021. 559 Employees from 10 community health centers were recruited. A five-part survey was used to collect data on demographic characteristics, social support, job stress, PBC and OHB. Descriptive statistics, independent-sample t-test, Pearson's correlation analysis, ordinary least-squares regression and the bootstrap method were used to analyze data. RESULTS: Social support was found to impact OHB through three significant mediation pathways: the pathway through job stress (point estimate = 0.033; 95%BC CI [0.004, 0.089]), the pathway through PBC (point estimate = 0.283; 95%BC CI [0.174, 0.416]), and the serial multiple mediating pathway through first job stress and then PBC (point estimate = 0.006; 95%BC CI [0.001, 0.019]). CONCLUSION: This study indicates that job stress and PBC play a serial multiple-mediator role in the relationship between social support and OHB. To ensure the effectiveness of social support intervention on OHB, workplace managers and employees should strengthen the motivators that could promote the reduction of job stress and the improvement of PBC.
