RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: We provide an overview of the safety of messenger RNA and inactivated coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine and monitoring of pregnant women after COVID-19 vaccination. The vaccine safety outcome profile is beneficial for further recommendations of COVID-19 vaccination in pregnancy. METHODS: This research was conducted as descriptive research. Sampling was performed using an online questionnaire to be filled out voluntarily and distributed to all pregnant women in Indonesia who received the COVID-19 vaccination. Data collection was performed and descriptive statistics were obtained. RESULTS: Among 31 977 pregnant women, 24 212 (75.7%) received the first dose, 7619 (23.8%) received the second dose, and 146 (4.5%) received the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Sinovac vaccine is the most administered vaccine to pregnant women (27 122 [84%]). Most pregnant women (78.7%) who were vaccinated had no adverse effects after immunization, while the most reported adverse effects were mild symptoms. CONCLUSION: The current study contributed evidence that COVID-19 vaccination during pregnancy has minimal adverse effects. These findings may help pregnant women and healthcare providers to make informed decisions regarding vaccination.

Cervical myomas are benign tumors originating from cervical muscle tissue with a very rare incidence of only about 8% of all myomas. The surgical approach depends on the position of cervical myoma. This case report discusses a 44-year-old woman who complained of a lump discharge from her birth canal 6 months ago, and currently discharging from her vagina. We performed vaginal myomectomy, and the cervical myoma measuring 8 × 8 × 6 cm with solid consistency was removed. We continued with total vaginal hysterectomy. Post-operative recovery was progressing well. The histopathology report was consistent with leiomyoma. Large prolapsed cervical myoma can be disturbing and discomforting for many patients. It is relatively rare and can be successfully removed vaginally with minimal morbidity.

INTRODUCTION: Preeclampsia is a pregnancy complication characterized by high blood pressure and proteinuria. Endothelial dysfunction is a major theory suggested as its aetiology. It is caused by anti-angiogenic condition characterized by low Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF). An estradiol metabolite, called 2-Methoxy Estradiol (2-ME), is produced with the help of Catechol-O-Methyltransferase (COMT). This substance has an important role in VEGF expression. A 2-ME is suppressed in women with preeclampsia. AIM: To compare 2-ME in women with severe preeclampsia and normotensive pregnancy. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 80 subjects qualified the inclusion and exclusion criteria, were divided into two groups (40 each): the severe preeclampsia and the normotensive pregnancy. Blood sample was collected and examined with the ELISA 2-ME kit (Cayman). The data were compared and calculated using Fisher-Exact test to examine 2-ME differences between the two groups. RESULTS: Women age, parity, and gestational age showed a non significant difference between both groups. Nonetheless, the BMI before pregnancy and the history of preeclampsia in the past pregnancy showed significant differences. In this study, the 2-ME value was lower in the severe preeclampsia group compared to the normotensive. CONCLUSION: This study concludes that 2-ME value in severe preeclampsia is lower than normotensive pregnancy. A lower 2-ME value may indicate COMT not producing enough 2-ME which in turn may cause the pre-eclampsia.
