This project introduced nursing and graduate health sciences and psychology students to interprofessional education (IPE) concepts and engaged them in interprofessional skill-building. Exposure to and immersion in IPE competencies were accomplished through online modules, case workshops, and simulation-based experiences. Rather than having an acute care focus, these diverse IPE students engaged in teamwork to plan and prioritize lifestyle change. Evaluation over a 3-year period resulted in an 8-week 1 credit course that includes online modules and case content focused on chronic disease management in response to the challenge of aging populations' increased longevity and chronic disease burden. Sample size was too small to make broad conclusions; however, we strongly recommend that IPE competencies be achieved using a developmental approach that includes not just exposure to the concept of collaborative practice but also immersion experiences that provide opportunities in skill-building for shared decision-making and teamwork.

Active transportation (AT) may represent an ideal opportunity to accumulate physical activity (PA). Thus, the purpose of this study was to describe the AT profile among students from two Colorado school districts. Students completed a survey on AT resulting in a final dataset (n = 3738) from which descriptive and inferential statics were calculated. Respondents were 11.32 ± 2.82 years of age (Boys = 48.27 %; Girls = 51.73 %). Most students (87.29 %) traveled to or from school via automobile, while 11.17 % walked and 1.53 % biked. Boys rode bicycles to school significantly more (p < 0.0001) than girls, and when walking, accumulated significantly more time (p = 0.02) than females. When examining by grade level significant differences were found for days/week walking (p = 0.0002) to school and biking (p < 0.001) to school. High school students accumulated significantly (p < 0.0001) more time walking to school than middle or elementary school students. Similarly, high school students spent more time biking (p < 0.0001) to school than middle school and elementary school respondents. These findings indicate that travel to school by automobile is still the dominant mode of travel for most public school students. Further, males were generally more likely to obtain extra time in AT. Moreover, older students were more likely to engage in AT, and to spend more time during their AT.

Objective: Employee health plays an important role in overall campus health and wellbeing. Therefore, this research explored the physical, mental, and environmental determinants of perceived health in employees of higher education. Participants: 422 full-time employees from one university took the American College Health Association National Faculty and Staff Health Assessment (NFSHA) online in April 2021. Methods: A cross-sectional correlational design was used to explore which physical, mental, and environmental health factors influenced perceived health of employees. Results: Sleep, body mass index (BMI), flourishing, and the extent to which employees felt the university cared about their health and wellbeing were the four significant factors that increased the odds of employees reporting higher levels of perceived health. Conclusions: Using Bandura's reciprocal determinism as a theoretical lens, these results reinforce that behaviors, personal attributes, and the environment are interdependent and influence perceived health in this sample of university employees.
