RESUMO

BACKGROUND: This study explores the effect of sensory-based static balance training on the balance ability, aging attitude, and perceived stress of older adults in the community. It provides a practical basis for the in-depth implementation and revision of the community health management model. METHODS: A randomized controlled intervention study was conducted from 2022 to 2023. A total of 72 older adults were recruited and randomly divided into an intervention group (36 individuals) and a control group (36 individuals). Balance ability (measured by the Short Physical Performance Battery and One Leg Stand Test), aging attitudes, and perceived stress were assessed at baseline and at the 12-week and 24-week follow-ups. Repeated-measures ANOVA and generalized estimating equations were used to compare outcome measures. RESULTS: Sensory-based static balance training was beneficial for balance ability and aging attitude among participants in the intervention group. At the end of the intervention, participants in the intervention group showed significant improvements in SPPB scores and OLST scores compared with the control group (FSPPB = 12.347, P = 0.001, Waldχ2OLST = 45.530, P < 0.001), as well as significant differences in aging attitudes (FAAQ = 18.549, P < 0.001). Multiple comparisons at different time points in the intervention group reveal a significant intervention effect (FSPPB = 29.211, Waldχ2OLST = 80.428, FAAQ = 45.981, all P < 0.05). However, the difference in perceived stress before and after the intervention was not significant (FCPSS = 2.876, P = 0.095). CONCLUSIONS: Sensory-based static balance training significantly improved balance ability and aging attitudes among older adults in the community. The effect on perceived stress among older adults in the community was not significant. TRIAL REGISTRATION: Registered in the Chinese Clinic on 04/06/2022. RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Loneliness is a negative emotional state that can lead to physical and mental health problems. This study's objective was to acquire an in-depth understanding of the heterogeneity and the predictors of loneliness among older adults in rural China and provide valuable references for practical interventions. METHODS: Older rural adults in China (N = 680) were recruited between January and April 2023. Latent profile analysis (LPA) was employed to identify subgroups of loneliness among participants. Single-factor and multinomial logistic regression analyses were conducted to investigate predictors of loneliness. RESULTS: The loneliness of rural older adults could be divided into three subgroups: low interaction loneliness group (55.0%), moderate emotional loneliness group (31.8%), and high loneliness group (13.2%). The subgroup predictors included age, gender, religious beliefs, marital status, living alone, number of chronic diseases, and smartphone use (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: This study identified a classification pattern for loneliness among older adults in rural areas of China, revealed the characteristics of different demographic variables in loneliness categories, and highlighted the heterogeneity of loneliness in this population. It serves as a theoretical reference for formulating intervention plans aimed at addressing various loneliness categories for local rural older adults. RESUMO

This study aimed to explore the level and relationship between the mental health service needs (MHSN), coping styles (CS), and mental health (MH) of old adults living alone in urban and rural, and to explore the moderating effects of coping styles. A cross-sectional study was conducted with 717 older adults living alone. The survey measured MHSN, CS, and MH. Data were analyzed using a structural equation and bootstrapping method. There were significant differences in the MHSN, CS, and MH between urban and rural old adults living alone (P < 0.05). The model of the impact of MHSN on MH in urban and rural old adults living alone showed a good fit. These findings highlighted the importance of high MHSN and positive CS as potential protective factors of mental health in old adults living alone. This provides a theoretical basis for psychological nursing for old adults living alone in the community.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: The study aimed to carry out a systematic review and meta-analysis to explore the effects of multicomponent exercise on frailty status and physical function in frail older adults. DESIGN: A systematic review and meta-analysis. SETTING AND PARTICIPANTS: Older adults aged ≥60 years diagnosed with frailty using the Frailty Assessment Tool. METHODS: PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, CNKI, and Wanfang were searched from inception to March 10, 2024. Two reviewers independently screened and selected the publications, extracted the data, and assessed risk of bias. This study included randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental designs. Review Manager 5.4 was used for data analysis. RESULTS: Twenty-eight randomized controlled trials with 4857 older adults were included. Multicomponent exercise significantly improved frailty status (SMD = -1.40, 95 % CI:-2.05 to -0.75, P < .05) and had a significant impact on physical function (muscle strength: SMD = 0.31, 95 % CI: 0.01-0.61, P < .05; gait speed: SMD = 0.27, 95 % CI: 0.02-0.52, P < .001; balance: SMD = 0.27, 95 % CI: 0.05-0.49, P = .02; Short Physical Performance Battery [SPPB]: SMD = 1.03, 95 % CI: 0.65-1.42, P < .001; and Timed Up and Go [TUG]: SMD = -3.05, 95 % CI: -3.90 to -2.19, P < .001). Subgroup analysis suggested that a 12-week duration is optimal for multicomponent exercise interventions, demonstrating significantly greater effectiveness in hospital compared with out-of-hospital. CONCLUSIONS: Multicomponent exercise intervention can improve frailty status in older adults and promote enhancement of physical functional abilities (muscle strength, gait speed, balance, SPPB, and TUG). Therefore, a possible protective effect of multicomponent exercise in frailty older adults is suggested.

RESUMO

Hafnium oxide thin films have attracted great attention as promising materials for applications in the field of optical thin films and microelectronic devices. In this paper, hafnium oxide thin films were prepared via DC magnetron sputtering deposition on a quartz substrate. The influence of various negative biases on the structure, morphology, and mechanical and optical properties of the obtained films were also evaluated. XRD results indicated that (1¯11)-oriented thin films with a monoclinic phase could be obtained under the non-bias applied conditions. Increasing the negative bias could refine the grain size and inhibit the grain preferred orientation of the thin films. Moreover, the surface quality and mechanical and optical properties of the films could be improved significantly along with the increase in the negative bias and then deteriorated as the negative bias voltage arrived at -50 V. It is evident that the negative bias is an effective modulation means to modify the microstructural, mechanical, and optical properties of the films.

RESUMO

Oxygen defects in Hafnium Oxide (HfO2)-based ferroelectric thin films not only are related to the cause of ferroelectricity but also affect the ferroelectric properties of the thin films. This paper, therefore, focuses on the fabrication of Zr:HfO2 thin films by RF (Radio Frequency) magnetron sputtering with Zr-doped HfO2 as the target and examines how oxygen flow impacts the oxygen vacancies and electrical properties thereof. Additionally, TiN thin-film electrodes were prepared by direct current (DC) magnetron reactive sputtering using nitrogen as the reaction gas, the influences of the substrate temperature on the film deposition rate and crystal phase structure were investigated, and the resultant thin-film electrodes with the lowest resistivity were obtained. Furthermore, the ferroelectric hysteresis loop and leakage current density of metal-insulator-metal (MIM) ferroelectric capacitors formed by annealing the 30 nm thick deposited Zr:HfO2 sandwiched between the top and bottom TiN electrodes were measured. The results demonstrate that varying oxygen flow has a considerable effect on oxygen vacancies and the Zr doping concentration of deposited Zr:HfO2 ferroelectric thin films. When the oxygen flow is set to 40 sccm (standard cubic centimeters per minute) and an external electric field strength of 2 mV/cm is applied, the remnant polarization reaches 18 µC/cm2, with a decrease in the leakage current density of 105-6 orders of magnitude.

RESUMO

Silver nanopillars with strong plasmonic effects are used for localized electromagnetic field enhancement and regulation and have wide potential applications in sensing, bioimaging, and surface-enhanced spectroscopy. Normally, the controlled synthesis of silver nanopillars is mainly achieved using heterometallic nanoparticles, including Au nanobipyramids and Pd decahedra, as seeds for inducing nanostructure growth. However, the seed materials are usually doped in silver nanopillar products. Herein, the synthesis of pure silver nanopillars with hexagonal cross-sections is achieved by employing rebuildable silver nanoparticles as seeds. An environmentally friendly, stable, and reproducible synthetic route for obtaining silver nanopillars is proposed using sodium dodecyl sulfate as the surface stabilizer. Furthermore, the seed particles induce the formation of regular structures at different temperatures, and, specifically, room temperature is beneficial for the growth of nanopillars. The availability of silver nanoparticle seeds using sodium alginate as a carrier at different temperatures was verified. A reproducible method was developed to synthesize pure silver nanopillars from silver nanoparticles at room temperature, which can provide a strategy for designing plasmonic nanostructures for chemical and biological applications.

RESUMO

Double perovskite Cs2SnI6 and its doping products (with SnI2, SnF2 or organic lithium salts added) have been utilized as p-type hole transport materials for perovskite and dye-sensitized solar cells in many pieces of research, where the mechanism for producing p-type Cs2SnI6 is rarely reported. In this paper, the mechanism of forming p-type Li+ doped Cs2SnI6 was revealed by first-principles simulation. The simulation results show that Li+ entered the Cs2SnI6 lattice by interstitial doping to form strong interaction between Li+ and I-, resulting in the splitting of the α spin-orbital of I-p at the top of the valence band, with the intermediate energy levels created and the absorption edge redshifted. The experimental results confirmed that Li+ doping neither changed the crystal phase of Cs2SnI6, nor introduced impurities. The Hall effect test results of Li+ doped Cs2SnI6 thin film samples showed that Li+ doping transformed Cs2SnI6 into a p-type semiconductor, and substantially promoted its carrier mobility (356.6 cm2/Vs), making it an ideal hole transport material.

RESUMO

In this paper, comprehensively utilizing the diffraction theory and electromagnetic resonance effect is creatively employed to design a multifunctional metasurface zone plate (MMZP) and achieve the control of polarization states, while maintaining a broadband achromatic converging property in a near-IR region. The MMZP consists of several rings with fixed width and varying heights; each ring has a number of nanofins (usually called meta-atoms). The numerical simulation method is used to analyze the intensity distribution and polarization state of the emergent light, and the results show that the designed MMZP can realize the polarization manipulation while keeping the broadband in focus. For a specific design wavelength (0.7 µm), the incident light can be converted from left circularly polarized light to right circularly polarized light after passing through the MMZP, and the focusing efficiency reaches above 35%, which is more than twice as much as reported in the literature. Moreover, the achromatic broadband focusing property of the MMZP is independent with the polarization state of the incident light. This approach broadens degrees of freedom in micro-nano optical design, and is expected to find applications in multifunctional focusing devices and polarization imaging.

RESUMO

In this paper, synthetically using refraction, diffraction, and interference effects to achieve free manipulation of the focused optical field, we firstly present a photonic nanojet (PNJ) generated by a micropyramid, which is combined with multilayer thin films. The theory of total internal reflection (TIR) was creatively used to design the base angle of the micropyramid, and the size parameters and material properties of the microstructure were deduced via the expected optical field distribution. The as-designed bilayer micropyramid array was fabricated by using the single-point diamond turning (SPDT) technique, nanoimprint lithography (NIL), and proportional inductively coupled plasma (ICP) etching. After the investigation, the results of optical field measurement were highly consistent with those of the numerical simulation, and they were both within the theoretical calculation range. The bilayer micropyramid array PNJ enhanced the interference effect of incident and scattered fields; thus, the intensity of the focused light field reached 33.8-times that of the initial light, and the range of the focused light field was extended to 10.08λ. Moreover, the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the focal spot achieved was 0.6λ, which was close to the diffraction limit.

RESUMO

In this paper, the Fe3+ doped rutile phase TiO2 nanotubes arrays (NTAs) were prepared in a low temperature water-assistant crystallization method. It is noteworthy that the Fe3+ doping hardly hinders either the crystallization of rutile TiO2 NTAs or the highly-ordered nanotubular morphologies. Moreover, Fe3+ did not form other compound impurities, which indicated that Fe3+ substitute Ti4+ into the lattice of TiO2. With the introduction of Fe3+, the light absorption range of TiO2 NTAs extends from the ultraviolet band to the visible light range. Photocatalytic testing results indicate that Fe3+ doped TiO2 NTAs can effectively improve the degradation rate of methyl orange aqueous solution in visible light, and the TiO2 NTAs with 0.2 mol/L Fe3+ doping exhibits the highest photocatalytic degradation efficiency.
