RESUMO

To meet the ultra-bandwidth high-capacity communication, improve spectral efficiency and reduce the complexity of system structure, we have proposed the independent triple-sideband signal transmission system based on photonics-aided terahertz-wave (THz-wave). In this paper, we demonstrate up to 16-Gbaud independent triple-sideband 16-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (16QAM) signal transmission over 20 km standard single mode fiber (SSMF) at 0.3 THz. At the transmitter, independent triple-sideband 16QAM signals are modulated by an in-phase/quadrature (I/Q) modulator. Carrying independent triple-sideband signals optical carrier coupled with another laser to generate independent triple-sideband terahertz optical signals with a carrier frequency interval of 0.3THz. While at the receiver side, enabled by a photodetector (PD) conversion, we successfully obtain independent triple-sideband terahertz signals with a frequency of 0.3THz. Then we employ a local oscillator (LO) to drive mixer to generate intermediate frequency (IF) signal, and only one ADC is used to sample independent triple-sideband signals, digital signal processing (DSP) is finally performed to obtain independent triple-sideband signals. In this scheme, independent triple-sideband 16QAM signals is delivered over 20 km SSMF under the bit error ratio (BER) of 7% hard-decision forward-error-correction (HD-FEC) threshold of 3.8 × 10-3. Our simulation results show that the independent triple-sideband signal can further improve THz system transmission capacity and spectral efficiency. Our simplified independent triple-sideband THz system has a simple structure, high spectral efficiency, and reduced bandwidth requirements for DAC and ADC, which is a promising solution for future high-speed optical communications.

RESUMO

The structural and functional features of lymphatic vessels in the peripheral nervous system (pLVs) is still unclear. Here, we clarify the existence of pLVs in rats, PROX1-EGFP transgenic mice and human, and exhibit a clear three-dimensional structure for helping understand its structural features. Moreover, two specific phenotypes of lymphatics endothelial cells (Rnd1Hi LECs and Ccl21Hi LECs) in peripheral nerves are well characterized by single-cell sequencing. Subsequently, the ability of trans-lymphatic delivery to peripheral nerves via pLVs has been dynamically demonstrated. After peripheral nerve injury (PNI), extensive lymphangiogenesis occurs in the lesion area and further enhances the efficiency of retrograde lymphatic-nerve transport. In PNI animal models, subcutaneously footpad-injected exosomes are efficiently delivered to sciatic nerve via pLVs which can promote nerve regeneration. The trans-lymphatic delivery to peripheral nerves via pLVs can subtly bypass BNB which provides an easy and alternative delivery route for PNI treatment.

RESUMO

Ferrate (Fe(VI)) has aroused great research interest in recent years due to its environmental benignancy and lower potential in disinfection by-product generation. However, the inevitable self-decomposition and lower reactivity under alkaline conditions severely restrict the utilization and decontamination efficiency of Fe(VI). Here, we discovered that Ru(III), a representative transition metal, could effectively activate Fe(VI) to degrade organic micropollutants, and its performance on Fe(VI) activation exceeded that of previously reported metal activators. The high-valent metal species (i.e., Fe(IV)/Fe(V) and high-valent Ru species) made a major contribution to SMX removal by Fe(VI)-Ru(III). Density functional theory calculations indicated the function of Ru(III) as a two-electron reductant, leading to the production of Ru(V) and Fe(IV) as the predominant active species. The characterization analyses proved that Ru species was deposited on ferric (hydr)oxides as Ru(III), indicating the possibility of Ru(III) as an electron shuttle with the rapid valence circulation between Ru(V) and Ru(III). This study not only develops an efficient way to activate Fe(VI) but also offers a thorough understanding of Fe(VI) activation induced by transition metals.
