RESUMO

Despite the need in various applications, accurate quantification of nucleic acids still remains a challenge. The widely-used qPCR has reduced accuracy at ultralow template concentration and is susceptible to nonspecific amplifications. The more recently developed dPCR is costly and cannot handle high-concentration samples. We combine the strengths of qPCR and dPCR by performing PCR in silicon-based microfluidic chips and demonstrate high quantification accuracy in a large concentration range. Importantly, at low template concentration, we observe on-site PCR (osPCR), where only certain sites of the channel show amplification. The sites have almost identical ct values, showing osPCR is a quasi-single molecule phenomenon. Using osPCR, we can measure both the ct values and the absolute concentration of templates in the same reaction. Additionally, osPCR enables identification of each template molecule, allowing removal of nonspecific amplification during quantification and greatly improving quantification accuracy. We develop sectioning algorithm that improves the signal amplitude and demonstrate improved detection of COVID in patient samples.

Viral infections can alter host transcriptomes by manipulating host splicing machinery. Despite intensive transcriptomic studies on SARS-CoV-2, a systematic analysis of alternative splicing (AS) in severe COVID-19 patients remains largely elusive. Here we integrated proteomic and transcriptomic sequencing data to study AS changes in COVID-19 patients. We discovered that RNA splicing is among the major down-regulated proteomic signatures in COVID-19 patients. The transcriptome analysis showed that SARS-CoV-2 infection induces widespread dysregulation of transcript usage and expression, affecting blood coagulation, neutrophil activation, and cytokine production. Notably, CD74 and LRRFIP1 had increased skipping of an exon in COVID-19 patients that disrupts a functional domain, which correlated with reduced antiviral immunity. Furthermore, the dysregulation of transcripts was strongly correlated with clinical severity of COVID-19, and splice-variants may contribute to unexpected therapeutic activity. In summary, our data highlight that a better understanding of the AS landscape may aid in COVID-19 diagnosis and therapy.

AIM: Our study aims to provide an updated estimate of age- and sex-specific deaths and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) associated with high body mass index (BMI) from 1990 to 2019 at the global, regional and national levels, and to forecast the global burden of disease attributed to high BMI from 2020 to 2035. METHODS: We used the data for the number of deaths, DALYs, age-standardized rate (per 100 000 population), percentage change and population attributable fraction from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019 (GBD 2019) to examine the disease burden attributable to high BMI. We further applied an autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model to predict the disease burden for the period 2020-2035. RESULTS: From 1990 to 2019, the deaths and DALYs attributable to high BMI increased by 148% and 155.86% for men, and by 111.67% and 121.78% for women, respectively. In 2019, high BMI directly accounted for 8.52% [95% uncertainty intervals (UI) 0.05, 0.12] of all-cause deaths and 5.89% (95% UI 0.04, 0.08) of global DALYs. The highest death rates were observed in men aged 65-69 and women aged 75-79. The highest DALY rates were observed in the age group of 60-64 for both sexes. In 2019, the highest age-standardized deaths and DALY rates were observed in the Central Asia region [163.15 (95% UI 107.72, 223.58) per 100 000 people] and the Oceania region [4643.33 (95% UI 2835.66, 6902.6) per 100 000 people], respectively. Fiji [319.08 (95% UI 213.77, 444.96) per 100 000 people] and Kiribati [10 000.58 (95% UI 6266.55, 14159.2) per 100 000 people] had the highest age-standardized deaths and DALY rates, respectively. In 2019, the highest age-standardized rates of high BMI-related deaths and DALYs were observed in the middle-high socio-demographic index quintile and in the middle socio-demographic index quintile. The age-standardized deaths and DALY rates attributable to high BMI are projected to increase in both sexes from 2020 to 2035. The death rates are projected to rise from 62.79 to 64.31 per 100 000 people, while the DALY rates are projected to rise from 1946 to 2099.54 per 100 000 people. CONCLUSIONS: High BMIs significantly contribute to the global disease burden. The projected rise in deaths and DALY rates attributable to high BMI by 2035 highlights the critical need to address the impact of obesity on public health. Our study provides policymakers with up-to-date and comprehensive information.

PURPOSE: Our study aims to evaluate the global burden of disease attributable to IPV from 1990 to 2019 at global, regional, national, and socio-demographic index (SDI) levels. Our research question is: What is the global burden of disease attributable to intimate partner violence (IPV) from 1990 to 2019, and how does it vary at global, regional, national, and socio-demographic index (SDI) levels? METHODS: Data parameters for the number of deaths, disability-adjusted life years (DALYs), and age-standardized rate were obtained from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019. We calculated the percentage change and population attributable fraction with 95% uncertainty intervals. RESULTS: IPV directly accounted for 0.14% [95% UI 0.09%, 0.21%] and 0.32% [95% UI 0.17%, 0.49%] of global all-cause deaths and DALYs in 2019, respectively. The age-standardized deaths and DALYs rates of IPV increased by 12.83% and 4.00% respectively from 1990 to 2019. Women aged 35-39 and 30-34 had the highest deaths and DALYs rate respectively. The highest age-standardized rates of IPV-related deaths and DALYs were observed in Southern Sub-Saharan. Both of deaths and DALYs were high in low-socio-demographic Index (SDI) quintile in 2019. CONCLUSIONS: A higher level of deaths and DALYs attributable to IPV were reported in younger women, in the early 2000s, in Southern Sub-Saharan regions and in low SDI regions. Our study provides policymakers with up-to-date and comprehensive information.

We describe the modeling method for RNA tertiary structures employed by team AIchemy_RNA2 in the 15th Critical Assessment of Structure Prediction (CASP15). The method consists of the following steps. Firstly, secondary structure information was derived from various manually-verified sources. With this information, the full length RNA was fragmented into structural modules. The structures of each module were predicted and then assembled into the full structure. To reduce the searching conformational space, an RNA structure was organized into an optimal base folding tree. And to further improve the sampling efficiency, the energy surface was smoothed at high temperatures during the Monte Carlo sampling to make it easier to move across the energy barrier. The statistical potential energy function BRiQ was employed during Monte Carlo energy optimization.

ß-alanine is the only naturally occurring ß-amino acid, which is widely used in medicine, food, and feed fields, and generally produced through synthetic biological methods based on engineered strains of Escherichia coli or Corynebacterium glutamicum. However, the ß-alanine biosynthesis in Bacillus subtilis, a traditional industrial model microorganism of food safety grade, has not been thoroughly explored. In this study, the native l-aspartate-α-decarboxylase was overexpressed in B. subtilis 168 to obtain an increase of 842% in ß-alanine production. A total of 16 single-gene knockout strains were constructed to block the competitive consumption pathways to identify a total of 6 genes (i.e., ptsG, fbp, ydaP, yhfS, mmgA, and pckA) involved in ß-alanine synthesis, while the multigene knockout of these 6 genes obtained an increased ß-alanine production by 40.1%. Ten single-gene suppression strains with the competitive metabolic pathways inhibited revealed that the inhibited expressions of genes glmS, accB, and accA enhanced the ß-alanine production. The introduction of heterologous phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase increased the ß-alanine production by 81.7%, which was 17-fold higher than that of the original strain. This was the first study using multiple molecular strategies to investigate the biosynthetic pathway of ß-alanine in B. subtilis and to identify the genetic factors limiting the excessive synthesis of ß-alanine by microorganisms.

BACKGROUND: Heme is an iron/porphyrin complex compound, widely used in the health care, food, and pharmaceutical industries. It is more advantageous and attractive to develop microbial cell factories to produce heme by fermentation, with lower production costs and environmentally more friendly procedures than those of the traditional extraction based on animal blood. In this study, Bacillus subtilis, a typical industrial model microorganism of food safety grade, was used for the first time as the host to synthesize heme. RESULTS: The heme biosynthetic pathway was engineered as four modules, the endogenous C5 pathway, the heterologous C4 pathway, the uroporphyrinogen (urogen) III synthesis pathway, and the downstream synthesis pathway. Knockout of hemX encoding the negative effector of the concentration of HemA, overexpression of hemA encoding glutamyl-tRNA reductase, and knockout of rocG encoding the major glutamate dehydrogenase in the C5 pathway, resulted in an increase of 427% in heme production. Introduction of the heterologous C4 pathway showed a negligible effect on heme biosynthesis. Overexpression of hemCDB, which encoded hydroxymethylbilane synthase, urogen III synthase, and porphobilinogen synthase participating in the urogen III synthesis pathway, increased heme production by 39%. Knockouts of uroporphyrinogen methyltransferase gene nasF and both heme monooxygenase genes hmoA and hmoB in the downstream synthesis pathway increased heme production by 52%. The engineered B. subtilis produced 248.26 ± 6.97 mg/L of total heme with 221.83 ± 4.71 mg/L of extracellular heme during the fed-batch fermentation in 10 L fermenter. CONCLUSIONS: Strengthening endogenous C5 pathway, urogen III synthesis pathway and downstream synthesis pathway promoted the biosynthesis of heme in B. subtilis. The engineered B. subtilis strain has great potential as a microbial cell factory for efficient industrial heme production.

BACKGROUND: The pathogenesis of schizophrenia is still unknown. Nearly a half of schizophrenic patients have depressive symptoms and even some impulsive behaviors. The definite diagnosis of schizophrenia is an immense challenge. Molecular biology plays an essential role in the research on the pathogenesis of schizophrenia. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to analyze the correlations of serum protein factor levels with depressive emotion and impulsive behaviors in drug-naïve patients with first-episode schizophrenia. METHODS: Seventy drug-naïve patients with first-episode schizophrenia and sixty-nine healthy volunteers from the health check center in the same period participated in this study. In both the patient group and control group, brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), phosphatidylin-ositol-3-kinase (PI3K), protein kinase B (AKT), and cAMP-response element binding protein (CREB) levels in the peripheral blood were tested by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The depressive emotion and impulsive behaviors were evaluated with Chinese versions of the Calgary Depression Scale for Schizophrenia (CDSS) and Short UPPS-P Impulsive Behavior Scale (S-UPPS-P), respectively. RESULTS: The serum levels of BDNF, PI3K, and CREB in the patient group were lower than those in the control group, while AKT level, total CDSS score and total S-UPPS-P score were all higher. In the patient group, total CDSS score, and total S-UPPS-P score were both correlated negatively with BDNF, PI3K, and CREB levels but positively with AKT level, and the lack-of-premeditation (PR) sub-scale score was not significantly correlated with BDNF, PI3K, AKT, and CREB levels. CONCLUSION: Our study results showed that the peripheral blood levels of BDNF, PI3K, AKT, and CREB in drug-naïve patients with first-episode schizophrenia were significantly different from those in the control group. The levels of these serum protein factors are promising biomarkers to predict schizophrenic depression and impulsive behaviors.

BACKGROUND: Subjective memory impairment (SMI) is common in older people. The aim of this study was to investigate the factors influencing SMI among older people in China, with specific focus on the interaction effect of midday napping duration and depressive symptoms on the risk of SMI. METHODS: Using a dataset representative of the Chinese population from a longitudinal study of health and retirement in China, subjects with SMI were screened using the question "how do you feel about your memory now?" and the Mini-Mental State Examination. A logistic regression model was applied to explore the factors affecting SMI. Additive and multiplicative models were used to analyze the interaction effect of midday napping duration and depressive symptoms on the risk of SMI. RESULTS: We enrolled 8,254 subjects included and the incidence of SMI was 63.9%. Depressive symptoms, nap time, and physical activity were influencing factors of SMI. Midday napping duration and depressive symptoms had positive additive interaction effects on the risk of SMI. When extended-length naps and depressive symptoms coexisted, the risk of SMI was 1.06 times greater than that for either alone (RERI, relative excess risk due to interaction = 0.27, 95% CI = 0.07-0.43; AP, attributable proportion = 0.14, 95% CI = 0.01-0.23; S, synergy index = 1.06, 95% CI = 0.57-1.62). When short naps and depressive symptoms coexisted, the risk of SMI was 1.2 times higher than that for either alone (RERI = 0.12, 95% CI=-0.14-0.39; AP = 0.13, 95% CI=-0.07-0.22; S = 1.20, 95% CI = 0.79-1.82). LIMITATIONS: Since this was a cross-sectional study, the cause-and-effect relationships between the associated variables cannot be inferred. CONCLUSIONS: The interaction effect that exists between nap time and depressive symptoms in older people is important for the identification and early intervention of people at risk for SMI.

Phycobiliproteins (PBPs) are natural water-soluble pigment proteins, which constitute light-collecting antennae, and function in algae photosynthesis, existing in cyanobacteria, red algae, and cryptomonads. They are special pigment-protein complexes in algae with a unique structure and function. According to their spectral properties, PBPs can be mainly divided into three types: allophycocyanin, phycocyanin, and PE. At present, there are two main sources of PBPs: one is natural PBPs extracted from algae and the other way is recombinant PBPs which are produced in engineered microorganisms. The covalent connection between PBP and streptavidin was realized by gene fusion. The bridge cascade reaction not only improved the sensitivity of PBP as a fluorescent probe but also saved the preparation time of the probe, which expands the application range of PBPs as fluorescent probes. In addition to its function as a light-collecting antenna in photosynthesis, PBPs also have the functions of biological detection, ion detection, and fluorescence imaging. Notably, increasing studies have designed novel PBP-based far-red fluorescent proteins, which enable the tracking of gene expression and cell fate.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the global pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2, has resulted thus far in greater than 933,000 deaths worldwide; yet disease pathogenesis remains unclear. Clinical and immunological features of patients with COVID-19 have highlighted a potential role for changes in immune activity in regulating disease severity. However, little is known about the responses in human lung tissue, the primary site of infection. Here we show that pathways related to neutrophil activation and pulmonary fibrosis are among the major up-regulated transcriptional signatures in lung tissue obtained from patients who died of COVID-19 in Wuhan, China. Strikingly, the viral burden was low in all samples, which suggests that the patient deaths may be related to the host response rather than an active fulminant infection. Examination of the colonic transcriptome of these patients suggested that SARS-CoV-2 impacted host responses even at a site with no obvious pathogenesis. Further proteomics analysis validated our transcriptome findings and identified several key proteins, such as the SARS-CoV-2 entry-associated protease cathepsins B and L and the inflammatory response modulator S100A8/A9, that are highly expressed in fatal cases, revealing potential drug targets for COVID-19.

BACKGROUND: As an objective method to detect the neural electrical activity of the brain, electroencephalography (EEG) has been successfully applied to detect major depressive disorder (MDD). However, the performance of the detection algorithm is directly affected by the selection of EEG channels and brain regions. METHODS: To solve the aforementioned problems, nonlinear feature Lempel-Ziv complexity (LZC) and frequency domain feature power spectral density (PSD) were extracted to analyze the EEG signals. Additionally, effects of different brain regions and region combinations on detecting MDD were studied with eyes closed and opened in a resting state. RESULTS: The mean LZC of patients with MDD was higher than that of the control group, and the mean PSD of patients with MDD was generally lower than that of the control group. The temporal region is the best brain region for MDD detection with a detection accuracy of 87.4%. The best multi brain regions combination had a detection accuracy of 92.4% and was made up of the frontal, temporal, and central brain regions. CONCLUSIONS: This paper validates the effectiveness of multiple brain regions in detecting MDD. It provides new ideas for exploring the pathology of MDD and innovative methods of diagnosis and treatment.

Within the framework of positive youth development (PYD) and life course theory, this study was designed to examine patterns of PYD and promotive factors over the first semester of Chinese high school with a sample of 480 students (boys, 43.96%). The growth mixture model identified four trajectories of PYD, labeled high start-fast decreasing, high start-low decreasing, low start-low increasing, and mid-persistent. Results also showed that membership in a PYD trajectory is significantly related to three promotive factors: parental involvement, teacher involvement, and intentional self-regulation. These findings have important theoretical and practical insights for a deeper understanding of the underlying mechanisms of positive development in adolescents following the critical period surrounding the transition to high school.

BACKGROUND: Schizophrenia spectrum disorder (SSD) is a common mental disorder causing severe and chronic disability. Epigenetic changes in genes related to the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis are believed to play an important role in SSD pathogenesis. The methylation status of the corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) gene, which is central to the HPA axis, has not been investigated in patients with SSD. AIM: We investigated the methylation status of the coding region of the CRH gene (hereafter, CRH methylation) using peripheral blood samples from patients with SSD. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: We used sodium bisulphite and MethylTarget to determine CRH methylation after collecting peripheral blood samples from 70 patients with SSD who had positive symptoms and 68 healthy controls. RESULTS: CRH methylation was significantly increased in patients with SSD, especially in male patients. CONCLUSIONS: Differences in CRH methylation were detectable in the peripheral blood of patients with SSD. Epigenetic abnormalities in the CRH gene were closely related to positive symptoms of SSD, suggesting that epigenetic processes may mediate the pathophysiology of SSD.

Merging electrochemistry with asymmetric catalysis promises to provide an environmentally friendly and efficient strategy for the construction of nonracemic chiral molecules. However, in practice, significant challenges arise from the instability or incompatibility of the chiral catalysts under the electrochemical conditions at the interface of electrode and solution. Herein, we report a catalytic asymmetric indirect electrolysis employing the combination of a redox mediator and a chiral-at-rhodium Lewis acid, which achieves a previously elusive enantioselective nucleophilic α-C(sp3)-H alkenylation of ketones. Specifically, 2-acyl imidazoles react with potassium alkenyl trifluoroborates in high yields (up to 94%) and with exceptional enantioselectivities (27 examples with ≥99% ee) without the need for any additional stoichiometric oxidants (overall 40 examples). The new indirect electrosynthesis can be scaled to gram quantities and was applied to the straightforward synthesis of intermediates of the natural product cryptophycin A and a cathepsin K inhibitor.

BACKGROUND: The associations of atmospheric particulate matter with diameters of 2.5 µm or less (PM2.5) and road traffic noise with mental disorders in men and women are not well studied. OBJECTIVES: We aim to examine the cross-sectional associations of PM2.5 and road traffic noise with mental disorders in men and women. METHODS: The baseline data of the UK Biobank study (2006-2010) were used. Mental disorders including symptoms of nerves, anxiety, tension or depression (NATD), major depression, and bipolar disorder were assessed by validated questions. Verified models were used to estimate PM2.5 and road traffic noise. RESULTS: A total of 334,986 participants with measurements of NATD and 90,706 participants with measurements of major depression and bipolar disorder were included in the analysis. After adjusting for covariates, the odds for the risk of NATD symptoms increased by 2.31 (95% CI: 2.15-2.50) times per 10 µg/m3 increase in PM2.5. The odds for the risk of major depression and bipolar disorder increased by 2.26 and 4.99 times per 10 µg/m3 increase in PM2.5. On the other hand, higher road traffic noise exposure was significantly associated with a higher risk of NATD symptoms (Decile 6-8 (54.9-57.8 dB), OR: 1.03, 95% CI: 1.01-1.06; Decile 9-10 (≥57.8 dB), OR: 1.04, 95% CI: 1.01-1.07) and bipolar disorder (Decile 2-5 (52.1-54.9 dB), OR: 1.26, 95% CI: 1.00-1.59; Decile 6-8 (54.9-57.8 dB), OR: 1.30, 95% CI: 1.02-1.65; Decile 9-10 (≥57.8 dB), OR: 1.54, 95% CI: 1.21-1.97). Interestingly, a negative association was observed between moderate road traffic noise and major depression (Decile 2-5 (52.1-54.9 dB), OR: 0.95, 95% CI: 0.90-1.00). Interactions between PM2.5 exposure with age, gender, and sleeplessness for NATD symptoms were observed (P < 0.05), while interactions between road traffic noise exposure with age and gender were observed (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: We found a positive association between PM2.5 and mental disorders. Meanwhile, we found a positive association of road traffic noise with NATD symptoms and bipolar disorder and a negative association of moderate road traffic noise with major depression. Also, the effect modifications of these associations by age, gender, or sleeplessness may exist.

Compressive hyperspectral images often suffer from various noises and artifacts, which severely degrade the imaging quality and limit subsequent applications. In this paper, we present a refinement method for compressive hyperspectral data cubes based on self-fusion of the raw data cubes, which can effectively reduce various noises and improve the spatial and spectral details of the data cubes. To verify the universality, flexibility, and extensibility of the self-fusion refinement (SFR) method, a series of specific simulations and practical experiments were conducted, and SFR processing was performed through different fusion algorithms. The visual and quantitative assessments of the results demonstrate that, in terms of noise reduction and spatial-spectral detail restoration, the SFR method generally is much better than other typical denoising methods for hyperspectral data cubes. The results also indicate that the denoising effects of SFR greatly depend on the fusion algorithm used, and SFR implemented by joint bilateral filtering (JBF) performs better than SRF by guided filtering (GF) or a Markov random field (MRF). The proposed SFR method can significantly improve the quality of a compressive hyperspectral data cube in terms of noise reduction, artifact removal, and spatial and spectral detail improvement, which will further benefit subsequent hyperspectral applications.

Despite the large number of noncoding RNAs in human genome and their roles in many diseases include cancer, we know very little about them due to lack of structural clues. The centerpiece of the structural clues is the full RNA base-pairing structure of secondary and tertiary contacts that can be precisely obtained only from costly and time-consuming 3D structure determination. Here, we performed deep mutational scanning of self-cleaving CPEB3 ribozyme by error-prone PCR and showed that a library of <5 × 104 single-to-triple mutants is sufficient to infer 25 of 26 base pairs including non-nested, nonhelical, and noncanonical base pairs with both sensitivity and precision at 96%. Such accurate inference was further confirmed by a twister ribozyme at 100% precision with only noncanonical base pairs as false negatives. The performance was resulted from analyzing covariation-induced deviation of activity by utilizing both functional and nonfunctional variants for unsupervised classification, followed by Monte Carlo (MC) simulated annealing with mutation-derived scores. Highly accurate inference can also be obtained by combining MC with evolution/direct coupling analysis, R-scape or epistasis analysis. The results highlight the usefulness of deep mutational scanning for high-accuracy structural inference of self-cleaving ribozymes with implications for other structured RNAs that permit high-throughput functional selections.

RESUMO

Phycobiliproteins (PBPs) are colored and water-soluble biliproteins found in cyanobacteria, rhodophytes, cryptomonads and cyanelles. They are divided into three main types: allophycocyanin, phycocyanin and phycoerythrin, according to their spectral properties. There are two methods for PBPs preparation. One is the extraction and purification of native PBPs from Cyanobacteria, Cryptophyta and Rhodophyta, and the other way is the production of recombinant PBPs by heterologous hosts. Apart from their function as light-harvesting antenna in photosynthesis, PBPs can be used as food colorants, nutraceuticals and fluorescent probes in immunofluorescence analysis. An increasing number of reports have revealed their pharmaceutical potentials such as antioxidant, anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory and antidiabetic effects. The advances in PBP biogenesis make it feasible to construct novel PBPs with various activities and produce recombinant PBPs by heterologous hosts at low cost. In this review, we present a critical overview on the productions, characterization and pharmaceutical potentials of PBPs, and discuss the key issues and future perspectives on the exploration of these valuable proteins.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of IL-27 on Th9 differentiation and Th1/Th2 balance. METHODS: C57BL/6 (B6) mice were treated with ovalbumin to establish an allergic asthma (AA) model and subjected to IL-27 overexpression (OV) and empty vector (EV). Hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining was performed to observe lung tissue inflammation. Flow cytometry was carried out to evaluate the percentage of Th9, Th1, and Th2 cells. The expression of IL-27, IL-27R, IL-9, T-bet, IFN-γ, and IgE was evaluated by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Western blot was conducted to observe the expression of pSTAT-1 and pSTAT-3. RESULTS: Compared with the Model group, the number of Th1 cells in the Model + OV group increased significantly (p < .05), while those of Th9 and Th2 cells decreased significantly (p < .05). The expression of IL-27, IL-27R, and IFN-γ in blood serum was increased (p < .05), and that of IL-9 and IgE was significantly decreased in the Model + OV group compared to the Model (p < .05). Western blot revealed that Model + OV exhibited lower expression of pSTAT-3 than that in the Model and Model + EV groups (p < .05), while pSTAT-1 expression was significantly increased (p < .05). Inflammatory infiltration in the Model + OV group was significantly reduced, and there was no significant difference between the Model and Model + EV groups. CONCLUSIONS: IL-27 OV inhibits Th9 differentiation and regulates the imbalance of Th1/Th2, thereby alleviating inflammatory response in AA. The findings suggest that IL-27 OV may be a potential strategy for clinical treatment of AA.
