A 87-year-old female was pointed out wall thickness in the upper part of gastric body for examination of anemia. The mass had a contrast effect, some of it protruded outside the wall, and the surrounding lymph nodes were enlarged. Upper endoscopy showed irregular ulcerative lesion with submucosal volume from posterior wall to the greater curvature in the upper part of gastric body. Biopsy was performed, and GIST of stomach was diagnosed. Surgery was performed for the GIST of the stomach. During open surgery, invasion of pancreatic tail was observed, therefore proximal gastrectomy with D1 lymph node dissection and distal pancreatectomy were performed. Pathologically, the tumor measured 95×78×65 mm with mitotic figures(38/50 high-power fields). Immunohistochemical analysis revealed that tumor cells expressed positive results for c-kit, α-SMA and CD34, and negative results for S-100 and desmin on the basis of the histology and immunostaining profile, the tumor was diagnosed as a GIST. The patient was classed as high risk according to Fletcher's risk classification. Tumor invades pancreatic tail, and lymph node metastasis was observed. She was discharged on the postoperative day 27 and alive without tumor recurrence at 6 months after surgery, not undergoing adjuvant chemotherapy.

We present a 58-year-old female patient who underwent resection of a leiomyosarcoma arising from the right ovarian vein. She was referred to our hospital because of lower abdominal pain that had been present for 1 month prior to the visit. Ultrasound examination revealed a well-defined, smooth, lobulated, highly vascular mass(57 mm)adjacent to the distal portion of the duodenum. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography revealed the contrast enhancement mass (60 mm)located surround the right ovarian vein. In abdominal magnetic resonance image examination, the mass exhibited isointense signal on T1-weighted images, high signal on T2-weighted images, and restricted diffusion on diffusion- weighted images. We suspected primary leiomyosarcoma of the ovarian vein and proceeded with surgical intervention. On intraoperative findings, the mass was in contact with the duodenum and the inferior vena cava but dissection was easily achieved. We excised the mass together with the right ovarian vein. Pathological findings showed the mass was composed of proliferating spindle-shaped cells arranged in bundles. Some areas showed polygonal nuclear atypia and abnormal mitotic figures. Additional immunostaining showed positive for α-SMA, caldesmon, calponin, and negative for desmin, CD34, CKA1/AE3, S100. Based on the intraoperative findings, we diagnosed it as leiomyosarcoma arising of the right ovarian vein.

Past clinical trials of adjuvant therapy combined with interferon (IFN) alpha, fluorouracil, cisplatin, and radiation improved the 5-year survival rate of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). However, these trials also revealed the disadvantages of the systemic toxicity of IFN and insufficient delivery of IFN. To improve efficacy and tolerability, we have developed an oncolytic adenovirus-expressing IFN (IFN-OAd). Here, we evaluated IFN-OAd in combination with chemotherapy (gemcitabine + nab-paclitaxel) + radiation. Combination index (CI) analysis showed that IFN-OAd + chemotherapy + radiation was synergistic (CI <1). Notably, IFN-OAd + chemotherapy + radiation remarkably suppressed tumor growth and induced a higher number of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes without severe side toxic effects in an immunocompetent and adenovirus replication-permissive hamster PDAC model. This is the first study to report that gemcitabine + nab-paclitaxel, the current first-line chemotherapy for PDAC, did not hamper virus replication in a replication-permissive immunocompetent model. IFN-OAd has the potential to overcome the barriers to clinical application of IFN-based therapy through its tumor-specific expression of IFN, induction of antitumor immunity, and sensitization with chemoradiation. Combining IFN-OAd with gemcitabine + nab-paclitaxel + radiation might be an effective and clinically beneficial treatment for PDAC patients.

In this study, eight types of bacteria were cultivated, including Staphylococcus aureus. The infrared absorption spectra of the gas surrounding cultured bacteria were recorded at a resolution of 0.5 cm-1 over the wavenumber range of 7500-500 cm-1. From these spectra, we searched for the infrared wavenumbers at which characteristic absorptions of the gas surrounding Staphylococcus aureus could be measured. This paper reports two wavenumber regions, 6516-6506 cm-1 and 2166-2158 cm-1. A decision tree-based machine learning algorithm was used to search for these wavenumber regions. The peak intensity or the absorbance difference was calculated for each region, and the ratio between them was obtained. When these ratios were used as training data, decision trees were created to classify the gas surrounding Staphylococcus aureus and the gas surrounding other bacteria into different groups. These decision trees show the potential effectiveness of using absorbance measurement at two wavenumber regions in finding Staphylococcus aureus.

Acetaminophen (APAP)-induced liver injury (AILI) is the most common cause of acute liver failure. Although the mechanisms that trigger AILI are well known, it is less understood how to halt AILI progression and facilitate liver recovery. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the pathophysiology of APAP hepatotoxicity in patients and to examine predictive/preventive markers. In a clinical study, we had a case in which aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels increased in a patient with a low ratio of APAP glucuronide concentration (AP-G)/APAP plasma concentration. Then a reverse translational study was conducted for clarifying this clinical question. The relationship between plasma AP-G/APAP concentration ratio and the levels of AST and ALT was examined by in vivo and in vitro experiments. In in vivo experiments, 10-week-old rats showed lower UGT activity, lower AP-G/APAP concentration ratios, and higher AST and ALT levels than 5-week-old rats. This suggests an inverse correlation between the AP-G/APAP concentration ratio and the AST, ALT levels in APAP-treated rats. Furthermore, as a result of the in vitro experiment, it was confirmed that the cell viability decreased when the AP-G/APAP concentration ratio in the culture medium decreased. Since the decrease in the plasma AP-G/APAP concentration ratio appears earlier than the increase of AST and ALT levels, the ratio might be a presymptomatic marker of AILI. When APAP is used for a long time, it is recommended to perform therapeutic drug monitoring of the AP-G/APAP concentration ratio, which is a predictive/preventive marker of AILI.

An 81-year-old man visited his previous doctor with complaints of fever, vomiting, and diarrhea, and was transferred to our hospital on the 8th day after being admitted to the hospital for further treatment for a mass in the right side of his abdomen on CT. At the time of transfer, a fist-sized mass was palpable in the right side of the abdomen, but there was no tenderness, and blood tests showed that the white blood cell count was 10,700/µL and CRP 1.36 mg/dL, indicating a mild increase in inflammatory reaction. Contrast-enhanced CT showed an 8-cm diameter mass in the ascending colon with a stratified structure, and an antegrade intussusception with the mass as the advanced part. No intestinal obstruction was showed, and the contrast effect on the wall of the intestinal wall of the intussusception was favorable. Since the intussusception was already present on the previous CT scan, and since the patient also had severe aortic stenosis and a cardiothoracic examination was necessary, we decided on an elective operation. During the waiting period, lower gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed a type 1 tumor in the ascending colon, and biopsy revealed a highly differentiated tubular adenocarcinoma. The scope was not passed through to the oral side, and endoscopic repositioning was difficult. On the 19th day(12th day of admission), right hemicolectomy of the colon with D3 lymphadenectomy was performed. Since the descending duodenal wall was partially retracted into the area of the duplication, a partial resection of the duodenal wall was also performed, and the specimen was removed without releasing the duplication. Histopathologically, the tumor was diagnosed a 9.5×5.7 cm type 1 tumor with pT3, pN0, cM0, pStage Ⅱa(9th edition). The patient was discharged on the 9th postoperative day with good postoperative course.

The progression of intravenous tumor thrombus in colorectal cancer is rare and reports on its resection are limited. This study reports a case of ascending colon cancer with a tumor thrombus in the superior mesenteric vein(SMV). A 44-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital for right, lower abdominal pain. Dynamic CT revealed an enhanced mass in the ascending colon and a tumor thrombus in the SMV. She was diagnosed with ascending colon cancer and an SMV tumor thrombus. An extended right hemicolectomy was performed. The SMV tumor thrombus extended from the gastrocolic trunk (GCT)to the right gastroepiploic vein and the anterior superior pancreaticoduodenal vein. To remove the tumor thrombus, a wedge-shaped incision was made through the SMV. Pathological examination showed a moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma of the ascending colon with extra-regional lymph node metastasis(No. 6)and intrapancreatic venous invasion. The pathological staging was pT4b, pN0, pM1a, pStage Ⅳa(Japanese Classification 9th edition). The patient was discharged on day 13 postoperatively. After discharge, 14 courses of mFOLFOX6 plus bevacizumab chemotherapy were administered. The patient is currently alive with no recurrence 15 months postoperatively.

INTRODUCTION: Esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) has increased in incidence in Western countries, and its poor prognosis necessitates the development of novel therapeutics. We previously reported the potential of conditionally replicative adenoviruses (CRAd) as a novel therapeutic treatment for this disease. To further augment the therapeutic effectiveness of our cyclooxygenase-2 (Cox2) controlled CRAd in EAC, we inserted an interferon alpha (IFN) transgene into the viral genome that is expressed upon viral replication. In this manuscript, we analyze the cytotoxic and oncolytic effects of an IFN-expressing oncolytic adenovirus in EAC and the role of the Cox2 promoter in providing for selective replication in human tissues. METHODS: An infectivity-enhanced IFN-expressing CRAd (5/3 Cox2 CRAd ΔE3 ADP IFN) and other control viruses were first tested in vitro with cell lines. For the in vivo study, EAC xenografts in nude mice were treated with a single intratumoral dose of virus. An ex vivo analysis with live tissue slices was conducted using surgically resected EAC patient specimens. RESULTS: Expression of IFN significantly enhanced the cytotoxic and oncolytic effect of a Cox2-promoter controlled CRAd. This virus showed significant tumor growth suppression in a xenograft model. Furthermore, in human EAC samples, the promoter-controlled virus demonstrated selective replication in cancerous tissues, leaving normal esophageal tissue unaffected. CONCLUSION: An IFN-expressing CRAd driven by the Cox2 promoter has strong oncolytic effects as well as cancer-specific replication. Our novel vector possesses critical characteristics that make it a potential candidate for clinical translation to treat EAC.

BACKGROUND: Previous studies have reported that being overweight, obese, or underweight is a risk factor for ischemic cardiovascular disease (CVD); however, CVD also occurs in subjects with ideal body mass index (BMI). Recently, the balance of n-3/n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) has received attention as a risk marker for CVD but, so far, no study has been conducted that investigates the association between BMI and the balance of n-3/n-6 PUFAs for CVD risk. METHODS: We evaluated the association between n-3/n-6 PUFA ratio and acute coronary syndrome (ACS) in three BMI-based groups (< 25: low BMI, 25-27.5: moderate BMI, and ≥ 27.5: high BMI) that included 1666 patients who visited the cardiovascular medicine departments of five hospitals located in urban areas in Japan. RESULTS: The prevalence of ACS events was 9.2, 7.3, and 10.3% in the low, moderate, and high BMI groups, respectively. We analyzed the relationship between ACS events and several factors, including docosahexaenoic acid/arachidonic acid (DHA/AA) ratio by multivariate logistic analyses. In the low BMI group, a history of smoking (odds ratio [OR]: 2.47, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.40-4.35) and low DHA/AA ratio (OR: 0.30, 95% CI: 0.12-0.74) strongly predicted ACS. These associations were also present in the moderate BMI group but the magnitude of the association was much weaker (ORs are 1.47 [95% CI: 0.54-4.01] for smoking and 0.63 [95% CI: 0.13-3.10] for DHA/AA). In the high BMI group, the association of DHA/AA (OR: 1.98, 95% CI: 0.48-8.24) was reversed and only high HbA1c (OR: 1.46, 95% CI: 1.03-2.08) strongly predicted ACS. The interaction test for OR estimates (two degrees of freedom) showed moderate evidence for reverse DHA/AA ratio-ACS associations among the BMI groups (P = 0.091). CONCLUSIONS: DHA/AA ratio may be a useful marker for risk stratification of ACS, especially in non-obese patients.

This report described the experience of active surveillance culture implemented in response to the identification of a single carbapenemase-producing Escherichia coli in a Japanese university hospital. It revealed a horizontal transmission event and an additional asymptomatic carrier of carbapenemase-producing Escherichia coli with unique drug susceptibility and resistance gene profiles. Early implementation of active surveillance culture as a part of multifaceted infection control measures appeared to be useful to control further transmission of carbapenemase-producing Escherichia coli even in the low endemic facility. Further investigations on the timing and usefulness of active surveillance culture in the control of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae would be warranted.

BACKGROUND: In prior myocardial infarction (PMI) patients, diabetes mellitus (DM), dyslipidemia, and hypertension increase the risk of secondary cardiovascular events. Although a decreased ratio of serum eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) to arachidonic acid (AA; EPA/AA) has been shown to significantly correlate with the onset of acute coronary syndrome, the associations between polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) levels and coronary risk factors in PMI patients have not been evaluated thoroughly. This study aimed to assess the associations between PUFAs levels and the risk factors in PMI patients. METHODS: We enrolled 1733 patients with known PUFA levels who were treated in five divisions of cardiology in a metropolitan area of Japan, including 303 patients with PMI. EPA/AA and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) to AA level ratio (DHA/AA) in patients with and without PMI were analyzed according to presence of coronary risk factors. RESULTS: Diabetes patients with PMI had significantly lower EPA/AA and DHA/AA than diabetes patients without PMI (EPA/AA: P <0.01; DHA/AA: P =0.003), with no such differences in dyslipidemia and hypertension patients. In DM patients with high high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels (>0.1 mg/dL), EPA/AA was low in individuals who also had PMI, whereas DHA/AA was not (EPA/AA, with PMI: 0.43 ± 0.24; without PMI: 0.53 ± 0.30, P < 0.05). Moreover, patients on statins had significantly lower DHA/AA ratios, whereas the EPA/AA ratio did not depend on statin use. Multiple regression analysis revealed that statin use in DM patients was associated with low DHA/AA but not EPA/AA. CONCLUSION: PMI patients with DM have low EPA/AA and DHA/AA. EPA/AA and DHA/AA are differently related to hs-CRP level in DM patients with PMI. Statin use can potentially affect DHA/AA but not EPA/AA, and therefore EPA/AA ratio is a better marker of assessment for cardiovascular events.

BACKGROUND: A low eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) to arachidonic acid (AA) ratio is a known risk for acute coronary syndrome (ACS). However, the association between the docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) to AA ratio and ACS remains unclear. This study aimed to assess the association between the DHA/AA ratio and ACS by patient characteristics. METHODS: We enrolled 1733 patients and evaluated the serum levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids in 5 cardiology departments in a metropolitan area of Japan. We assessed the relationship between the DHA/AA ratio (median cut-off value: 0.903) and ACS according to the following 10 subgroups: sex, age, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, dyslipidemia, smoking history, family history of ischemic heart disease, chronic kidney disease, obesity, and history of coronary revascularization. RESULTS: Interaction tests in the 10 subgroup analyses revealed a significant difference for adjusted log odds ratios between male and females (p = 0.01), and those with and without hypertension (p = 0.06). Especially in the subgroup based on sex difference, a high DHA/AA ratio was significantly associated with a low risk of ACS among men (adjusted odds ratio = 0.389; 95 % confidence interval: 0.211-0.716). In contrast, a reverse association was found among women, although this was not statistically significant (adjusted odds ratio = 3.820; 95 % confidence interval: 0.718-20.325). CONCLUSIONS: The association between the DHA/AA ratio and ACS differed by clinical characteristic. Notably, patients with a low DHA/AA ratio had a higher risk of ACS than those with a high DHA/AA ratio, and this was significant for men in particular.

Although PKD is broadly expressed and involved in numerous cellular processes, its function in osteoclasts has not been previously reported. In this study, we found that PKD2 is the main PKD isoform expressed in osteoclastic cells. PKD phosphorylation, indicative of the activated state, increased after 2-3 days of treatment of bone marrow macrophages with M-CSF and RANKL, corresponding to the onset of preosteoclast fusion. RNAi against PKD2 and treatment with the PKD inhibitor CID755673 showed that PKD activity is dispensable for induction of bone marrow macrophages into tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase-positive preosteoclasts in culture but is required for the transition from mononucleated preosteoclasts to multinucleated osteoclasts. Loss of PKD activity reduced expression of DC-STAMP in RANKL-stimulated cultures. Overexpression of DC-STAMP was sufficient to rescue treatment with CID755673 and restore fusion into multinucleated osteoclasts. From these data, we conclude that PKD activity promotes differentiation of osteoclast progenitors through increased expression of DC-STAMP.

Pancreatic cancer is a devastating disease with a survival rate of <5%. Moreover, pancreatic cancer aggressiveness is closely related to high levels of prosurvival mediators, which can ultimately lead to rapid disease progression. One of the mechanisms that enables tumor cells to evade cellular stress and promote unhindered proliferation is the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress response. Disturbances in the normal functions of the ER lead to an evolutionarily conserved cell stress response, the unfolded protein response (UPR). The UPR initially compensates for damage, but it eventually triggers cell death if ER dysfunction is severe or prolonged. Triptolide, a diterpene triepoxide, has been shown to be an effective compound against pancreatic cancer. Our results show that triptolide induces the UPR by activating the PKR-like ER kinase-eukaryotic initiation factor 2α axis and the inositol-requiring enzyme 1α-X-box-binding protein 1 axis of the UPR and leads to chronic ER stress in pancreatic cancer. Our results further show that glucose-regulated protein 78 (GRP78), one of the major regulators of ER stress, is downregulated by triptolide, leading to cell death by apoptosis in MIA PaCa-2 cells and autophagy in S2-VP10 cells.

Osteochondromas and enchondromas are the most common tumors affecting the skeleton. Osteochondromas can occur as multiple lesions, such as those in patients with hereditary multiple exostoses. Unexpectedly, while studying the role of ß-catenin in cartilage development, we found that its conditional deletion induces ectopic chondroma-like cartilage formation in mice. Postnatal ablation of ß-catenin in cartilage induced lateral outgrowth of the growth plate within 2 weeks after ablation. The chondroma-like masses were present in the flanking periosteum by 5 weeks and persisted for more than 6 months after ß-catenin ablation. These long-lasting ectopic masses rarely contained apoptotic cells. In good correlation, transplants of ß-catenin-deficient chondrocytes into athymic mice persisted for a longer period of time and resisted replacement by bone compared to control wild-type chondrocytes. In contrast, a ß-catenin signaling stimulator increased cell death in control chondrocytes. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed that the amount of detectable ß-catenin in cartilage cells of osteochondromas obtained from hereditary multiple exostoses patients was much lower than that in hypertrophic chondrocytes in normal human growth plates. The findings in our study indicate that loss of ß-catenin expression in chondrocytes induces periosteal chondroma-like masses and may be linked to, and cause, the persistence of cartilage caps in osteochondromas.

Redirection of adenovirus vectors by engineering the capsid-coding region has shown limited success because proper targeting ligands are generally unknown. To overcome this limitation, we constructed an adenovirus library displaying random peptides on the fiber knob, and its screening led to successful selections of several particular targeted vectors. In the previous library construction method, the full length of an adenoviral genome was generated by a Cre-lox mediated in vitro recombination between a fiber-modified plasmid library and the enzyme-digested adenoviral DNA/terminal protein complex (DNA-TPC) before transfection to the producer cells. In this system, the procedures were complicated and time-consuming, and approximately 30% of the vectors in the library were defective with no displaying peptide. These may hinder further extensive exploration of cancer-targeting vectors. To resolve these problems, in this study, we developed a novel method with the transfection of a fiber-modified plasmid library and a fiberless adenoviral DNA-TPC in Cre-expressing 293 cells. The use of in-cell Cre recombination and fiberless adenovirus greatly simplified the library-making steps. The fiberless adenovirus was useful in suppressing the expansion of unnecessary adenovirus vectors. In addition, the complexity of the library was more than a 10(4) level in one well in a 6-well dish, which was 10-fold higher than that of the original method. The results demonstrated that this novel method is useful in producing a high quality live adenovirus library, which could facilitate the development of targeted adenovirus vectors for a variety of applications in medicine.

Adenovirus (Ad) is a potent gene-delivery vehicle and has frequently been used for designing oncolytic viruses. However, lack of selectivity on infection has hampered the achievement of sufficient in vivo efficiency. Here, we developed a novel oncolytic virus system, infectivity-selective oncolytic adenovirus (ISOAd), via direct high-throughput screening of a high-diversity targeting-ligand library in adenoviral format. Through our newly designed rescue virus system, the high-diversity Ad library carrying the random seven amino acid sequences ligand-library in the AB-loop of its fiber-knob region (5 × 10(9) diversity) was successfully generated. During the screening of this library with the cells expressing the target molecule (mesothelin, MSLN), the AB-loop sequence of the virus clones converged to one dominant sequence and a novel MSLN-targeting sequence was isolated. The virus with the isolated motif showed selective infectivity to MSLN-positive cells in vitro. In vivo, it exhibited a selective and potent antitumor effect resulted from the viral replication in MSLN-positive xenografts. The ISOAd is a novel class of oncolytic Ad, which has selectivity at the step of transduction. The selectivity at the stage of infection can open new perspectives in oncolytic Ad therapy for various diseases.

Porphyromonas gingivalis, a Gram-negative anaerobic bacillus, is the primary pathogen in periodontitis. Herein, we cultivated strains of oral bacteria, including P. gingivalis and the oral commensal bacteria Actinomyces viscosus and Streptococcus mutans, and recorded the infrared absorption spectra of the gases released by the cultured bacteria at a resolution of 0.5 cm-1 within the wavenumber range of 500-7500 cm-1. From these spectra, we identified the infrared wavenumbers associated with characteristic absorptions in the gases released by P. gingivalis using a decision tree-based machine learning algorithm. Finally, we compared the obtained absorbance spectra of ammonia (NH3) and carbon monoxide (CO) using the HITRAN database. We observed peaks at similar positions in the P. gingivalis gases, NH3, and CO spectra. Our results suggest that P. gingivalis releases higher amounts of NH3 and CO than A. viscosus and S. mutans. Thus, combining Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy with machine learning enabled us to extract the specific wavenumber range that differentiates P. gingivalis from a vast dataset of peak intensity ratios. Our method distinguishes the gases from P. gingivalis from those of other oral bacteria and provides an effective strategy for identifying P. gingivalis in oral bacteria. Our proposed methodology could be valuable in clinical settings as a simple, noninvasive pathogen diagnosis technique.

BACKGROUND: Prognosis of esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) is still poor. Therefore, the development of novel therapeutic modalities is necessary to improve therapeutic outcomes in EAC. Here, we report a novel promoter-controlled oncolytic adenovirus targeting CDX2 (Ad5/3-pCDX2) and its specific anticancer effect for EAC. METHODS: We used OE19, OE33, HT29, MKN28, RH30, and HEL299 cell lines. To establish CDX2 overexpressing OE19 cells, pCMV-GLI1 plasmid was transfected to OE19 (OE19 + GLI1). The virus replication and cytocidal effect of replication competent Ad5/3-pCDX2 were analyzed in vitro. Antitumor effect of Ad5/3-pCDX2 was assessed in xenograft mouse models by intratumoral injection of the viruses. Finally, efficacy of combination therapy with Ad5/3-pCDX2 and 5FU was evaluated. RESULTS: EAC cells and HT29 showed high mRNA levels of CDX2, but not MKN28, RH30, and HEL299. We confirmed that deoxycholic acid (DCA) exposure enhanced CDX2 expression in EAC cells and OE19 + GLI1 had persistent CDX2 overexpression without DCA. Ad5/3-pCDX2 showed stronger cytocidal effect in OE19 + GLI1 than OE19, whereas Ad5/3-pCDX2 did not kill CDX2-negative cells. Ad5/3-pCDX2 was significantly replicated in EAC cells and the virus replication was higher in OE19 + GLI1 and OE19 with DCA compared to OE19 without DCA exposure. In vivo, Ad5/3-pCDX2 significantly suppressed OE19 tumor growth and the antitumor effect was enhanced in OE19 + GLI1 tumor. In contrast, Ad5/3-pCDX2 did not show significant antitumor effect in MKN28 tumor. Moreover, Ad5/3-pCDX2 significantly increased the efficacy of 5FU in vitro and in vivo. CONCLUSIONS: Ad5/3-pCDX2 showed specific anticancer effect for EAC, which was enhanced by bile acid exposure. Ad5/3-pCDX2 has promising potential for EAC therapy in the clinical setting.
