RESUMO

Solid base catalysts are widely used in the chemical industry owing to their advantages of environmental friendliness and easy separation. However, their application is limited by basic site aggregation and poor stability. In this study, we report the preparation of magnesium (Mg) single-atom catalysts with high activity and stability by a sublimation-trapping strategy. The Mg net was sublimated as Mg vapor at 620 °C, subsequently transported through argon, and finally trapped on the defects of nitrogen-doped carbon derived from metal-organic framework ZIF-8, producing Mg1/NC. Because of the atomically dispersed Mg sites, the obtained Mg1/NC exhibits high catalytic activity and stability for Knoevenagel condensation of benzaldehyde with malononitrile, which is a typical base-catalyzed reaction. The Mg1/NC catalyst achieves a high efficiency with a turnover frequency of 49.6 h-1, which is much better than that of the traditional counterpart MgO/NC (7.7 h-1). In particular, the activity of Mg1/NC shows no decrease after five catalytic cycles, while that of MgO/NC declines due to the instability of basic sites.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to examine the reporting quality of existing economic evaluations for negotiated glucose-lowering drugs (GLDs) included in China National Reimbursement Drug List (NRDL) using the Consolidated Health Economic Evaluation Reporting Standards 2013 (CHEERS 2013). METHODS: We performed a systematic literature research through 7 databases to identify published economic evaluations for GLDs included in the China NRDL up to March 2021. Reporting quality of identified studies was assessed by two independent reviewers based on the CHEERS checklist. The Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann-Whitney U test were performed to examine the association between reporting quality and characteristics of the identified studies. RESULTS: We have identified 24 studies, which evaluated six GLDs types. The average score rate of the included studies was 77.41% (SD:13.23%, Range 47.62%-91.67%). Among all the required reporting items, characterizing heterogeneity (score rate = 4.17%) was the least satisfied item. Among six parts of CHEERS, results part scored least at 0.55 (score rate = 54.79%) because of the incompleteness of characterizing uncertainty. Results from the Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann-Whitney U test showed that model choice, journal type, type of economic evaluations, and study perspective were associated with the reporting quality of the studies. CONCLUSIONS: There remains room to improve the reporting quality of economic evaluations for GLDs in NRDL. Checklists such as CHEERS should be widely used to improve the reporting quality of economic researches in China.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Understanding the characteristics related to cardiorespiratory fitness after stroke can provide reference values for patients in clinical rehabilitation exercise. This meta- analysis aimed to investigate the effect of robot-assisted gait training in improving cardiorespiratory fitness in post-stroke patients, compared to conventional rehabilitation training. METHODS: PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, CBM, CNKI and Wanfang databases were searched until March 18th, 2024. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing the effectiveness of robot-assisted gait training versus control group were included. The main outcome variable was peak oxygen uptake. 6-minute walking test, peak heart rate, peak inspiratory expiratory ratio as our secondary indicators. RevMan 5.3 software was used for statistical analysis. RESULTS: A total of 17 articles were included, involving 689 subjects. The results showed a significant effect for robot-assisted gait training to improve VO2peak (MD = 1.85; 95% CI: -0.13 to 3.57; p = 0.04) and 6WMT (MD = 19.26; 95% CI: 10.43 to 28.08; p < 0.0001). However, no significant difference favouring robot-assisted gait training were found in HRpeak (MD = 3.56; 95% CI: -1.90 to 9.02; p = 0.20) and RERpeak (MD = -0.01; 95% CI: -0.04 to 0.01; p = 0.34). CONCLUSION: These results showed that robot-assisted gait training may have a beneficial effect in improving VO2peak and 6WMT, with a moderate recommendation level according to the GRADE guidelines.

RESUMO

The cerebellum is known to play a supportive role in swallowing-related functions; however, wide discrepancies about the incidence rate of swallowing disorders following cerebellar strokes exist within the literature. This study aimed to investigate the incidence rate of dysphagia and the factors which may affect the presence of dysphagia and clinical recovery in individuals diagnosed with cerebellar stroke. A retrospective chart audit of 1651 post-stroke patients (1049 males and 602 females) admitted with a cerebellar stroke to a comprehensive tertiary hospital in China was conducted. Data on demographics, medical, along with swallowing function assessment were collected. Differences between dysphagic and non-dysphagic groups were evaluated using t-tests and Pearson's chi-square test. Univariate logistic regression analysis was performed to establish factors associated with the presence of dysphagia. A total of 11.45% of participants were identified with dysphagia during inpatient admission. Individuals with mixed types of stroke, multiple lesions in the cerebellum, and ages older than 85 years old were more likely to develop dysphagia. Moreover, the prognosis of dysphagia following a cerebellar stroke was associated with lesions in different parts of the cerebellum. The cumulative recovery rates from the best to worse were the right hemisphere group, the cerebellum vermis or peduncle group, and both the hemisphere group and the left hemisphere group, respectively.

RESUMO

A novel CuO-Fe3O4 encapsulated in the carbon framework with abundant oxygen vacancies (CuO-Fe3O4@C) was successfully prepared by thermal conversion of Cu(OAc)2/Fe-metal organic framework. The as-prepared catalyst exhibited excellent peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation performance, good recyclability and fast magnetic separation. Under optimal conditions, the added BPA (60 mg/L) could be completely removed by CuO-Fe3O4@C/PMS system within 15 min with the degradation rate constant (k) of 0.32 min-1, being 10.3 and 246.2 times that in CuO/PMS (0.031min-1) and Fe3O4/PMS (0.0013 min-1) system. A deep mineralization rate of BPA (>80%) was achieved within 60 min. The results demonstrated the synergistic effect of bimetallic clusters, oxygen vacancies and carbon framework was a key benefit for the exposure of more active sites, the electron donor capacity and the mass transfer of substrates, thereby promoting the decomposition of BPA. Capture experiments and EPR indicated that 1O2 was the predominant reactive oxygen species (ROSs). The degradation routes of BPA and the activation mechanism of PMS were proposed. This study offers an opportunity to develop promising MOFs-derived hybrid catalysts with tailored structures and properties for the practical application of SR-AOPs.

RESUMO

Noble metal nanoparticles (NMNPs) assembly substrates with strongly enhanced local electromagnetic fields provide new possibilities for surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) sensing. Although the external-electric-field-based self-assembly (EEFSA) strategy for decreasing NMNP gap in liquid phase is relatively developed, it is rarely described in solid phase. Here, by combining corona discharge technique (CDT) as a simple EEFSA approach on flexible substrate surface modification, a flexible SERS substrate medicated with gold nanospheres (AuNSs) is produced. Because of the CDT's peculiar discharge event, makes AuNSs aggregation simply achieved. The modified flexible SERS substrate is sensitive to the detection limit of ∼10-5 mM for Rhodamine 6G (R6G), with a maximum enhancement factor of 2.79×106. Furthermore, finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulation confirms the SERS enhancement impact of AuNSs-based substrate. This study not only provides a low-cost, simple-to-process, high-yield, high sensitivity, and activity flexible SERS substrate, but also suggests a more practical and adaptable NMNPs self-assembly approach.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The rat sciatic nerve crush injury model is one of the most commonly used models to research peripheral nerve injury (PNI), however, the evaluation of the model preparation lacks exact standards. This study aimed to investigate accurately assessment methods for research concerning the rat sciatic nerve crush injury. METHODS: The sciatic nerve crush injury model of was performed using the FST toothless forceps. The corresponding locations and pressures of different ratchet strengths were assessed by using CMAP, behavioral, and morphological methods. RESULTS: In each group of PNI, motor and sensory functions were gradually restricted on the injured side of rats as the applied pressure increased. CMAP was more sensitive to nerve injury arising out of the force values obtained from the forceps. CONCLUSIONS: As a sensitive indicator for PNI, the neuroelectrophysiological examination was more likely to reflect the morphological changes of injured nerves. These findings may provide a standardized approach to sciatic crush injury modelling.

RESUMO

Magnetic ZnFe2O4 nanotubes (ZFONTs) with numerous pores on their walls were synthesized and characterized. They are shown to be a viable sorbent for dispersive micro-solid phase extraction of the trivalent ions of rare earth elements (REEs), specifically of lanthanum, praseodymium, europium, gadolinium, holmium and ytterbium. The specific surface area of ZFONTs is large (57 m2⋅g-1) and much bigger than that of ZnFeO4 nanoparticles (16 m2⋅g-1). It is shown that REEs are quantitatively retained on ZFONTs in the pH range of 7.0-9.0. The separation of the sorbent from the aqueous phase was achieved by an external magnetic field. Following elution with 0.5 mol⋅L-1 HNO3, REEs were quantified by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. The main parameters influencing preconcentration and determination of the REEs were studied. Under optimum conditions, detection limits for REEs range from 0.01 (Ho) to 0.75 (La) pg⋅mL-1. Relative standard deviations are less than 6.5% (for n = 9; at 1.0 ng⋅mL-1). The method was applied to the determination of trace REEs in spiked biological and environmental samples and gave satisfactory results. Graphical abstract Schematic presentation of a new adsorbent for dispersive micro-solid phase extraction (DMSPE) combined with ICP-MS. Magnetic ZnFe2O4 nanotubes with many pores on their walls were used for preconcentration and determination of rare earth elements (REEs) in environmental and biological samples.

RESUMO

Background: Increasing research has implicated the possible effect of gut microbiota (GM) on the prognosis of ischemic stroke (IS). However, the precise causal relationship between GM and functional outcomes after IS remains unestablished. Methods: Data on 211 GM taxa from the MiBioGen consortium and data on prognosis of IS from the Genetics of Ischemic Stroke Functional Outcome (GISCOME) network were utilized as summary-level data of exposure and outcome. Four kinds of Mendelian randomization (MR) methods were carried out to ascertain the causal effect of GM on functional outcomes following IS. A reverse MR analysis was performed on the positive taxa identified in the forward MR analysis to determine the direction of causation. In addition, we conducted a comparative MR analysis without adjusting the baseline National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) of post-stroke functional outcomes to enhance confidence of the results obtained in the main analysis. Results: Four taxa were identified to be related to stroke prognosis in both main and comparative analyses. Specifically, genus Ruminococcaceae UCG005 and the Eubacterium oxidoreducens group showed significantly negative effects on stroke prognosis, while the genus Lachnospiraceae NK4A136 group and Lachnospiraceae UCG004 showed protective effects against stroke prognosis. The reverse MR analysis did not support a causal role of stroke prognosis in GM. No evidence of heterogeneity, horizontal pleiotropy, and outliers was found. Conclusion: This MR study provided evidence that genetically predicted GM had a causal link with post-stroke outcomes. Specific gut microbiota taxa associated with IS prognosis were identified, which may be helpful to clarify the pathogenesis of ischemic stroke and making treatment strategies.

RESUMO

Non-chromatographic speciation methods generally involve speciation conversion, which may cause sample contamination, analysis errors and tedious operations. In this work, a direct immersion dual-drop microextraction (DIDDME) was firstly developed for separation and preconcentration of Cr(III) and Cr(VI). In DIDDME, two organic drops on needle tips of microsyringes were concurrently immersed in a stirred sample solution. Each drop contains a chelating reagent for reacting with a specific species. Thus, Cr(III) and Cr(VI) were selectively extracted into different drops. This method afforded detection limits of 3.0 and 4.1 ng/L, quantification limitof 10 ng/L and 14 ng/L, linear range of 0.01-30 ng mL-1 and enrichment factors of 354-fold and 326-fold for Cr(III) and Cr(VI), respectively. Precisions like repeatability and reproducibility were assessed by calculating relative standard deviations, which were lower than 5.4 % and 6.9 %, respectively. This procedure was used successfully for quantification of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) in food samples.

RESUMO

In this study, for the first time, a novel separation and preconcentration method of direct immersion dual-drop microextraction (DIDDME) was proposed for the species of inorganic chromium (Cr(III) and Cr(VI)) followed by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry detection. The methodology is based on that two organic drops hold on the needle tips of microsyringes were concurrently immersed in a stirred sample solution. Each drop contains a chelating reagent, which can react with a specific species under the same pH value. Therefore, Cr(III) and Cr(VI) can be selectively extracted into different drops. This procedure did not require tedious and complicated pre-oxidation/pre-reduction and centrifugation/filtration operations, which may lead to the risk of sample contamination and analysis errors. Main parameters influencing separation, preconcentration and identification of the target species were investigated. An enrichment factor of 400-fold was obtained for Cr(III) and Cr(VI). Under the optimized conditions, detection limits for this method were 1.1 ng L-1 and 1.4 ng L-1 for Cr(III) and Cr(VI) with relative standard deviations of 5.1 and 6.3%, respectively. This procedure was applied for the separation, preconcentration and determination of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) in environmental water samples and certified reference materials with satisfactory results. Recoveries of spiked experiments ranged from 86.0 to 112%.

RESUMO

Background: Traditional Medicine (TM) has a wide uptake in most countries. In China, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a common kind of primary health because of its beneficial effects. This review aimed to appraise the publication reporting quality of economic evaluations for selective TCM in the National Reimbursement Drug List (NRDL), Version 2020, based on the Consolidated Health Economic Evaluation Reporting Standards (CHEERS) statement. Methods: Electronic databases were searched for economic evaluation that supported the TCM negotiations in NRDL (2020 version) published from 2001 to 2021, including PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, CNKI, WanFang, and SinoMed. The CHEERS statement was used to appraise the reporting quality of included TCM economic evaluations. Results: A total of 360 articles were retrieved, but only 38 economic evaluations met the inclusion criteria. None of the articles reported all items in the CHEERS checklist. The mean score of included articles is low at 10.93±2.62, with an average scoring rate of 51.31±10.53%. The least reported items included: "Characterizing heterogeneity," "Conflicts of interest", "Discount rate," and "Study perspective," with a reporting rate of 0.00%, 5.26%, 7.89%, and 15.79%, respectively. Conclusion: An upward trend occurred in the quantity and quality of the economic evaluation publications of TCM in China. TCM economic evaluations are still at an early stage, with an urgent need for improving reporting quality. It may result from research experiences or different ideas between TCM and Western Medicine. Adhering to reporting guidelines like CHEERS and educating economic evaluation investigators can improve TCM economic evaluations' reporting quality.

RESUMO

Li2MnO3 nanobelts have been synthesized via the molten salt method that used the Na0.44MnO2 nanobelts as both the manganese source and precursor template in LiNO3-LiCl eutectic molten salt. The electrochemical properties of Li2MnO3 reduced via a low-temperature reduction process as cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries have been measured and compared. Particularly investigated in this work are the effects of the synthesis conditions, such as reaction temperature, molten salt contents, and reaction time on the morphology and particle size of the synthesized Na0.44MnO2 precursor. Through repeated synthesis characterizations of the Na0.44MnO2 precursor, and comparing the electrochemical properties of the reduced Li2MnO3 nanobelts, the optimum conditions for the best electrochemical performance of the reduced Li2MnO3 are determined to be a molten salt reaction temperature of 850 °C and a molten salt amount of 25 g. When charge-discharged at 0.1 C (1 C = 200 mAh g-1) with a voltage window between 2.0 and 4.8 V, the reduced Li2MnO3 synthesized with reaction temperature of Na0.44MnO2 precursor at 850 °C and molten salt amounts of 25 g exhibits the best rate performance and cycling performance. This work develops a new strategy to prepare manganese-based cathode materials with special morphology.

RESUMO

In this paper, the influences of biochar on the anaerobic digestion of sulphate wastewater, including the COD removal rate, methane yield, intermediate products and the change of microbial community structure, were investigated. The results showed that sulphate could promote the anaerobic digestion with the SO42-/COD ratio increasing from 0 to 0.1, while the activity of MPB was inhibited, which led to the decrease of COD removal rate and methane yield with the SO42-/COD ratio increasing from 0.1 to 2. At 1 g biochar loading, 344.97 mL CH4/gCODremoval was obtained compared with the control group (220.70 CH4/gCODremoval) at 2 of SO42-/COD. Biochar could also reduce the secondary accumulation of NH4+-N and TVFA. Meanwhile, methanogenic microorganisms were selectively enriched especially for methanobacterium, methanosaeta and methanolinea, while the growth of SRB was inhibited with biochar addition.

RESUMO

Background: Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), integrating patient preferences into decision-making process, has been widely used in the multimodality therapy of lung cancer. This study aimed to estimate patient preferences for treatment and shared decision-making (SDM) modes concerning inpatient TCM treatment of lung cancer in Shanghai in order to provide a basis for clinical decision-making process on TCM therapy for lung cancer. Methods: This study was conducted among patients (n = 347) from nine tertiary hospitals in Shanghai by discrete-choice experiment (DCE) survey and Shared Decision-Making Questionnaire-patient version (SDM-Q-9) survey. The DCE was developed with the inclusion of the most relevant attributes at appropriate levels for the TCM treatment of lung cancer. The empirical data analyses of patients were performed using mixed logit models. Additionally, subgroup analysis was conducted. Results: In total, 347 respondents completed the questionnaire. All attributes' coefficients were statistically significant for patients' preferences. Patients showed strong preferences for increasing disease control rate, relieving nausea and vomiting, reducing the risk of side effects, and were concerned about monthly out-of-pocket costs. Subgroup analysis indicated that patients with a lower SDM-Q-9 score and those who were satisfied with medical services emphasized more importance of higher disease control rate. Furthermore, most of the patients (90.20%) self-reported a high willingness to use SDM during the decision-making process. Conclusion: In Shanghai, patients mainly preferred SDM and considered disease control rate as the most essential attribute in the TCM treatment of lung cancer. The study findings could underscore the importance of considering patients' preferences and promote SDM.

RESUMO

Vessel segmentation in fundus images permits understanding retinal diseases and computing image-based biomarkers. However, manual vessel segmentation is a time-consuming process. Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A) allows direct, non-invasive estimation of retinal vessels. Unfortunately, compared to fundus images, OCT-A cameras are more expensive, less portable, and have a reduced field of view. We present an automated strategy relying on generative adversarial networks to create vascular maps from fundus images without training using manual vessel segmentation maps. Further post-processing used for standard en face OCT-A allows obtaining a vessel segmentation map. We compare our approach to state-of-the-art vessel segmentation algorithms trained on manual vessel segmentation maps and vessel segmentations derived from OCT-A. We evaluate them from an automatic vascular segmentation perspective and as vessel density estimators, i.e., the most common imaging biomarker for OCT-A used in studies. Using OCT-A as a training target over manual vessel delineations yields improved vascular maps for the optic disc area and compares to the best-performing vessel segmentation algorithm in the macular region. This technique could reduce the cost and effort incurred when training vessel segmentation algorithms. To incentivize research in this field, we will make the dataset publicly available to the scientific community.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Total knee replacement surgery is commonly used in end-stage diseases of the knee. It is important for improving surgical efficacy and patient satisfaction by promoting early rehabilitation of patients and improving knee function. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of early application of Tuina treatment on quadriceps surface electromyography (EMG) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis having undergone total knee arthroplasty. DESIGN, SETTING, PARTICIPANTS AND INTERVENTION: The study was performed at the Orthopedic Department of Huashan Hospital, Fudan University, and the Shanghai Guanghua Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine from June 2010 to September 2011. A total of 66 patients with rheumatoid arthritis who had undergone total knee replacement surgery were randomly divided into control group and observation group, 33 cases in each. The patients in the control group were administered with continuous passive training (CPM), and the patients in the observation group were treated with CPM combined with Tuina, from prior surgery to four weeks post-surgery. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The knee function was evaluated using the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) questionnaire at baseline and 4 weeks after the surgery. Quadriceps surface EMG was also detected at the same time points. RESULTS: After 4 weeks of Tuina and comprehensive rehabilitation intervention, the WOMAC questionnaire score of the observation group was decreased compared with the control group (P<0.01); median frequency and integrated electromyography of the rectus femoris and vastus medialis muscles, which were recorded by EMG, in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.01). CONCLUSION: Tuina can improve the recovery of patients who have undergone total knee replacement by increasing quadriceps EMG.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Low back pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal diseases in the modern society, causing a huge economic burden, and has become an important public health problem. Years lived with disability caused by low back pain increased rapidly as a result of population growth and ageing worldwide, with the biggest increase seen in low-income and middle-income countries. In this context, the prevention and treatment of low back pain in the elderly warrant attention and research. OBJECTIVE: The aim is to determine the correlation between vital capacity (VC) and vertebral body translation during lumbar flexion and extension in adults aged 60 to 69 years. METHODS: A total of 192 adults aged 60 to 69 years were selected by cluster sampling in Lishui City, Zhejiang Province, China. The VC of the study population was tested and the ratio of VC to body mass (BM) was calculated. The lumbar hyperextension and hyperflexion of the study population were radiographed using a Hitachi 500 mAs X-ray machine made in Japan to verify vertebral body translations in each segment. RESULTS: The differences of test values of VC (P= 0.004), VC/BM ratio (P= 0.012) and vertebral body translation in the L5-S1 segment during flexion and extension (P< 0.001) of the populations aged 60 to 64 and 65 to 69 years were all statistically significant. The vertebral body translation in the L5-S1 segment during lumbar flexion and extension in the population aged 60 to 69 years was negatively correlated with the VC (rs =-0.207 and P= 0.004) and VC/BM ratio (rs =-0.248 and P= 0.001), showing statistical significance. CONCLUSIONS: The vertebral body translation of during lumbar flexion and extension correlates with the VC in the population aged 60 to 69 years. Recognition of this correlation may help to guide further lumbar stabilization exercises.

RESUMO

The current non-chromatographic speciation methods generally involve the conversion of different species by oxidation/reduction reactions, which may cause inherent problems such as contamination risk, time consumption and complex operations. In this work, in-syringe solid phase extraction (IS-SPE) was combined with in-syringe vortex-assisted solidified floating organic drop microextraction (IS-VA-SFODME) for the detection of Sb(V) and Sb(III) in rice wines by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. Firstly, IS-SPE involved the use of ZnFe2O4 nanotubes as the sorbent for the isolation and enrichment of Sb(V) and removal of the matrix components such as ethanol, pigment, sugars and carbohydrates. Then, IS-VA-SFODME was used for enriching Sb(III) in the original sample solution after IS-SPE. This technique exhibited good anti-interference ability and high enrichment efficiency without tedious pre-oxidation/pre-reduction and centrifugation/filtration operations, which may cause the contamination of samples. Under the selected conditions, the detection limits were 4.5 ng L-1 and 3.2 ng L-1 for Sb(III) and Sb(V) with relative standard deviations of 7.3% and 5.1%, respectively. This procedure was used with satisfactory results for the detection of Sb(III) and Sb(V) in rice wine samples and a certified reference material of water sample. Recoveries of spiked experiments ranged from 91.0 to 107%.
