RESUMO

Aiming to enhance the ns-LIBS signal, in this work, we introduced orbital angular momentum to modulate the laser phase of the Gaussian beam into the vortex beam. Under similar incident laser energy, the vortex beam promoted more uniform ablation and more ablation mass compared to the Gaussian beam, leading to elevated temperature and electron density in the laser-induced plasma. Consequently, the intensity of the ns-LIBS signal was improved. The enhancement effects based on the laser phase modulation were investigated on both metallic and non-metallic samples. The results showed that laser phase modulation resulted in a maximum 1.26-times increase in the peak intensities and a maximum 1.25-times increase in the signal-to-background ratio (SBR) of the Cu spectral lines of pure copper for a laser energy of 10 mJ. The peak intensities of Si atomic spectral lines were enhanced by 1.58-1.94 times using the vortex beam. Throughout the plasma evolution process, the plasma induced by the vortex beam exhibited prolonged duration and a longer continuous background, accompanied by a noticeable reduction in the relative standard deviation (RSD). The experimental results demonstrated that modulation the laser phase based on orbital angular momentum is a promising approach to enhancing the ns-LIBS signal.

RESUMO

In recent years, there has been an increasing focus on the dynamics of material stock, that is, the basis of material flow in the entire ecosystem. With the gradual improvement of the global road network encryption project, the uncontrolled extraction, processing, and transportation of raw materials impose serious resource concerns and environmental pressure. Quantifying material stocks enable governments to formulate scientific policies because socio-economic metabolism, including resource allocation, use, and waste recovery, can be systematically assessed. In this study, OpenStreetMap road network data were used to extract the urban road skeleton, and nighttime light images were divided by watershed to construct regression equations based on geographical location attributes. Resultantly, a generic road material stock estimation model was developed and applied to Kunming. We concluded that (1) the top three stocks are stone chips, macadam, and grit (total weight is 380 million tons), (2) the proportion of asphalt, mineral powder, lime, and fly ash is correspondingly similar, and (3) the unit area stock decreases as the road grade declines; therefore, the branch road has the lowest unit stock.

RESUMO

The emergence of mutant strains such as Omicron has increased the uncertainty of COVID-19, and all countries have taken strict measures to prevent the spread of the disease. The spread of the disease between countries is of particular concern. However, most COVID-19 research focuses mainly on the country or community, and there is less research on the border areas between two countries. In this study, we analyzed changes in the total nighttime light intensity (TNLI) and total nighttime lit area (TNLA) along the Sino-Burma border and used the data to construct an epidemic pressure input index (PII) model in reference to the Shen potential model. The results show that, as the epidemic became more severe, TNLI on both sides of the border at the Ruili border port increased, while that in areas far from the port decreased. At the same time, increases and decreases in TNLA occurred in areas far from the port, and PII can indicate the areas where imported cases are likely to occur. Along the Sino-Burma border, the PII model showed low PII in the north and south and high PII in the central region. The areas between Dehong and Lincang, especially the Ruili, Wanding, Nansan, and Qingshuihe border ports, had high PII. The results of this study offer a reference for public health officials and decision makers when determining resource allocation and the implementation of stricter quarantine rules. With updated epidemic statistics, PII can be recalculated to support timely monitoring of COVID-19 in border areas.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to determine the incidence of and reasons for unplanned reoperations in oral and maxillofacial surgery. MATERIALS AND METHODS: During a 4-year period, a total of 169 patients undergoing reoperations were encountered. The clinical characteristics and causes were reviewed. RESULTS: There were 11,151 patients who underwent surgery, and the incidence of unplanned reoperations was 1.52%. The male-to-female ratio was 2.45:1. The average age in this cohort was 51.5 years. Among the common causes of an unplanned return to the operating room, the most common were reoperations performed for postoperative bleeding, diagnostic issues, and vascular crisis (32.54%, 28.40%, and 29.59%, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: The unplanned reoperation rate was 1.52%. The main causes were postoperative bleeding, diagnostic issues, and vascular crisis. Patients with malignant tumors or microvascular flaps were more likely to undergo unplanned reoperations. Improving perioperative management and diagnostic capability might reduce the incidence of unplanned reoperations.

RESUMO

Propofol has been considered as a near-ideal anesthetic agent since its introduction 40 years ago. However, the side effects of propofol including bacterial contamination, hyperlipidemia, and neurotoxicity also aroused attention. Nerve growth factor (NGF) plays a pivotal role in the development, differentiation, and survival of the neurons of the peripheral and central nervous system. In the present study, we found that NGF alleviated the apoptosis induced by propofol in hippocampal neurons. Furthermore, NGF treatment augmented the protein abundance and mRNA level of Rac1 while silencing Rac1 significantly blunted the effects of NGF upon propofol-induced apoptosis. In conclusion, NGF decreased propofol-induced apoptosis and this effect was Rac1 dependent.

RESUMO

Strong background noise and complicated interfering signatures when implementing vibration-based monitoring make it difficult to extract the weak diagnostic features due to incipient faults in a multistage gearbox. This can be more challenging when multiple faults coexist. This paper proposes an effective approach to extract multi-fault features of a wind turbine gearbox based on an integration of minimum entropy deconvolution (MED) and multipoint optimal minimum entropy deconvolution adjusted (MOMEDA). By using simulated periodic transient signals with different noise to signal ratios (SNR), it evaluates the outstanding performance of MED in noise suppression and reveals the deficient in extract multiple impulses. On the other hand, MOMEDA can performs better in extracting multiple pulses but not robust to noise influences. To compromise the merits of them, therefore the diagnostic approach is formalized by extracting the multiple weak features with MOMEDA based on the MED denoised signals. Experimental verification based on vibrations from a wind turbine gearbox test bed shows that the approach allows successful identification of multiple faults occurring simultaneously on the shaft and bearing in the high speed transmission stage of the gearbox.

RESUMO

How to provide effective prevention and treatment of myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury and study of the mechanism underlying I/R injury are hotspots of current research. This study aimed to elucidate the effect and cardioprotective mechanism of vitamin C (VC) on myocardial I/R injury. Our study introduced two different I/R models: I/R in vitro and oxygen-glucose deprivation/recovery (OGD/R) in primary neonatal rat cardiac myocytes. We used the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP) opener lonidamine (LND) and the mitochondrial KATP (mitoKATP) channel inhibitor 5-hydroxydecanoate (5-HD) to analyze the underlying mechanisms. We found that post-treatment with VC decreased I/R injury in our models. Post-treatment with VC significantly decreased I/R-induced injury, attenuated apoptosis, and maintained the functional integrity of mitochondria via alleviation of Ca(2+) overload, reactive oxygen species burst, inhibition of the opening of mPTP, and prevention of mitochondrial membrane potential (ΔΨm) depolarization. VC post-treatment increased the phosphorylation of Akt and glycogen synthase kinase (GSK)-3ß. The present results demonstrate that VC might protect the myocardium from I/R-induced injury by inhibiting the mPTP opening via activation of mitoKATP channels. VC mediates cardioprotection via activation of the phosphatidyl inositol 3-kinase (PI3K)-Akt signaling pathway. These findings may contribute toward the development of novel strategies for clinical cardioprotection against I/R injury.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The efficacy of iloprost in treating pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is controversial. Adverse reactions such as hypotension may occur during treatment. OBJECTIVES: Aim to evaluate the efficacy and safety of iloprost for PAH. METHODS: Studies were obtained from an electronic search of the CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, SinoMed, PubMed, Medline, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases up to May 18, 2023. A meta-analysis of each study was performed using RevMan 5.4 with a 95 % confidence interval (CI). A randomized or fixed-effects model was applied according to a heterogeneity test. RESULTS: Twelve trials involving 718 participants were selected, including 433 in five randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and 285 in seven prospective clinical trials. All the patients received iloprost inhalation. The short- and prolonged treatment groups significantly improved the 6-minute walking distance (6 MWD). The mortality and clinical deterioration incidences in the iloprost group were not significantly different from those in the control group. The mean pulmonary arterial pressure (mPAP) was reduced after 3 months of iloprost RCTs and 12 months of prospective treatment. Iloprost decreased pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR) by approximately 231.29 units, significantly increased cardiac output (CO), and improved the quality of life (QoL). The main adverse reactions to iloprost treatment were cough (17 %), headache (16.4 %), and flushing (12.4 %). CONCLUSION: Iloprost, either used alone or as adjuvant therapy, can enhance exercise capacity, lower hemodynamic parameters, and improve long-term outcomes. However, the risk of mortality and clinical deterioration remains unknown.

RESUMO

We conducted an investigation to determine the potential of mitochondrial-related genes as diagnostic biomarkers in ulcerative colitis (UC), while also examining their association with immune cell infiltration. To achieve this, we acquired four datasets pertaining to UC, which included gene expression arrays and clinical data, from the GEO database. Subsequently, we selected three signature genes (PDK2, CHDH, and ALDH5A1) to construct a diagnostic model for UC. The nomogram and ROC curves exhibited exceptional diagnostic efficacy. Following this, quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and western blotting assays validated the decreased mRNA and protein expression of PDK2, CHDH, and ALDH5A1 in the model of UC cells and dextran sulfate sodium salt (DSS)-induced mice colitis tissues, aligning with the findings in the risk model. This investigation suggested a negative correlation between the expression of ALDH5A1, CHDH, and PDK2 and the infiltration of M1 macrophages. Then, immunofluorescence analysis confirmed the augmented expression of CD86 in the tissue of mice subjected to DSS, while a diminished expression of ALDH5A1, CHDH, and PDK2 was observed. Consequently, it can be inferred that targeting mitochondria-associated genes, namely PDK2, CHDH, and ALDH5A1, holds potential as a viable strategy for prognostic prediction and the implementation of immune therapy for UC.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To detect the expression of L-type amino acid transporter 1 (LAT1) in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) tissues, and analyze its effect on clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of patients. METHODS: A total of 92 NHL patients who were treated in our hospital from January 2017 to April 2019 were collected. The expression of LAT1 in NHL tissue was detected by immunohistochemistry and compared between patients with different pathological features (including sex, Ann Arbor stage, extranodal infiltration, Ki-67). The risk factors affecting mortality were analyzed using univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to detect the predictive value of percentage of LAT1-positive cells in NHL tissue for patient mortality, and analyzing the effect of percentage of LAT1-positive cells on survival rate. RESULTS: LAT1 was positively expressed in NHL tissue. The high expression rate of LAT1 in Ann Arbor stage III and IV groups were higher than that in Ann Arbor stage I group, that in extranodal infiltration group was higher than non-extranodal infiltration group, and that in Ki-67 positive expression group was higher than Ki-67 negative expression group (all P < 0.05). The remission rate after 3 courses of treatment in high-LAT1 expression group was 70.7%, which was lower than 91.2% in low-LAT1 expression group (P < 0.05). Ann Arbor stage III and IV, extranodal invasion, Ki-67 positive expression and increased expression of LAT1 (LAT1-positive cell percentage score ≥2) were risk factors for mortality. The cut-off value of percentage of LAT1-positive cells for predicting NHL death was 45.6%, and the area under the ROC curve was 0.905 (95%CI: 0.897-0.924). The 3-year survival rate of high-LAT1 level group (the percentage of LAT1-positive cells≥45.6%) was 50.00%, which was lower than 78.26% of low-LAT1 level group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The expression level of LAT1 in NHL tissue increases, which affects Ann Arbor stage and extranodal infiltration of patients. LAT1 is a risk factor for death.

RESUMO

Background: Hyperuricemia (HUA) is a prevalent metabolic disorder whose development is associated with intestinal microbiota. Therefore, probiotics have emerged as a potential and safe approach for lowering uric acid (UA) levels. However, the underlying mechanisms of many effective probiotic strains remain unknown. Methods and results: C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into two groups: control and model groups. The model group received 12 weeks of potassium oxonate. Through 16s sequencing we found that HUA resulted in a significant decrease in the total diversity of all intestinal segments. When each intestinal segment was analyzed individually, the reduction in diversity was only significant in the cecum and colon sections. RDA analysis showed that lactobacilli in the rat colon exhibited a strong correlation with model group, suggesting that Lactobacillus may play an important role in HUA. Consequently, the preventive effects of Lactobacillus johnsonii YH1136 against HUA were investigated. C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into three groups: control, model and YH1136 groups. The results showed that administering Lactobacillus johnsonii YH1136 effectively reduced serum UA levels in vivo by inhibiting hepatic xanthine oxidase (XOD) activity and promoting renal ABCG2 transporter expression. Moreover, supplementation with Lactobacillus johnsonii YH1136 significantly ameliorated pathological damage in the kidney and liver, thereby reducing UA accumulation. Conclusion: Hyperuricemia is accompanied by an altered composition of multiple gut bacteria, of which Lactobacillus is a key genus. Lactobacillus johnsonii YH1136 may ameliorate renal involvement in HUA via the gut-kidney axis.

RESUMO

Background: This study aimed to understand the hospital-acquired COVID-19 infection rate and infection prevention and control status of emergency support frontline healthcare workers (ESFHCWs) under closed-loop management, and to explore the related factors affecting hospital-acquired COVID-19 prevention and control status. Methods: The study site was a provincial-level tertiary hospital in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region specializing in treating COVID-19 patients. ESFHCWs were assigned from different hospitals in Zhejiang Province to provide emergency medical support in this specialized hospital. All ESFHCWs were managed using a closed loop. A self-designed questionnaire was used to estimate basic information, work experience, and the status of infection prevention and control (SIPC). A total of 269 ESFHCWs responded to the questionnaire. A generalized linear regression model was used to estimate the factors influencing SIPC. Results: There were six hospital-acquired COVID-19 cases, with an infection rate of 2.23%. The independent risk factors influencing COVID-19 prevention and control status were work seniority, anxiety disorder, and consumption of gastrointestinal, anti-inflammatory and anti-asthmatic, and hypnotic sedative drugs. Compared with ESFHCWs with more than 10 years of work seniority, ESFHCWs with less than 5 years of work seniority and 5-10 years of work seniority had lower COVID-19 SIPC scores. Among ESFHCWs with anxiety disorder, the SIPC score was significantly lower than that of ESFHCWs without anxiety disorder. The SIPC scores of ESFHCWs taking other medications (gastrointestinal, anti-inflammatory and anti-asthmatic, and hypnotic sedative drugs) were lower than those of ESFHCWs who did not. Conclusion: The closed-loop management method may be effective in reducing the infection rate of hospital-acquired COVID-19 among ESFHCWs. HCWs with less than 10 years of work seniority, anxiety disorder, and other medications (gastrointestinal, anti-inflammatory and anti-asthmatic, and hypnotic sedative drugs) were probably not suitable for participating in emergency assistant actions because of their poor SIPC scores. Further studies are needed to develop the selection criteria for ESFHCWs.

RESUMO

With the recent increase in global focus on green energy, the application of thermal infrared remote sensing data for the detection of geothermal anomalies has attracted wide attention as it can overcome the difficulty of using only ground surveying. This study aimed to highlight areas of geothermal anomalies with land surface temperature (LST) time series data in winter derived from thermal infrared remote sensing. To extract LST anomaly areas in the Ruili Basin for geothermal prospecting, nine types of data on the study area in winter during 2014 ~ 2021 from Landsat 8 were analyzed. Landsat 8 LST inversion data based on the mono-window algorithm (MWA) can be used to identify hot springs, volcanoes, and other heat-related phenomena. Superimposing LST anomalies for each cycle through drilling data, excluding the heat island effect, geothermal anomaly regions could be plotted. The results show that the accuracy of MWA LST varied within 2 K, which is acceptable for geothermal energy and higher than those of the radiative transfer equation (RTE) algorithm and MODIS LST products. Three high-LST regions in the southeast of the study area were identified as geothermal anomaly areas (A, B, and C), and region B was further verified through a comprehensive field investigation of geothermal wells, supplemented by the temperature gradient (TG) method. The findings reveal that the distribution of geothermal anomaly areas and high-LST areas are highly consistent with the northeast trending fault structure; faults act as thermal channels and help in accurately detecting local LST anomalies. Overall, the infrared remote sensing method proved to be a valid technique for detecting LST anomalies. Considering the synergy between thermal infrared surface detection and subsurface exploration methods, the identification of known geothermal fields (B) and other possible areas (A and C) has significance in the upscaling of local geologic information to regional prospecting, thus providing a direction for future geothermal research.

RESUMO

With the continuous development of thermal infrared remote sensing technology and the maturation of remote sensing inversion algorithms based on surface temperatures, identifying high-temperature anomalous areas by inverting surface temperatures has become an crucial approach to finding geothermal potential areas. The eastern region of Longyang in western Yunnan Province is renowned for geothermal resources, though the distribution area of geothermal potential remains unknown. Therefore, this study used Landsat-8 TIRS data and four surface temperature inversion algorithms, namely, mono-window algorithm, single-channel algorithm, Du split window algorithm (SWD), and Jiménez-Muñoz split window algorithm (SWJ), to explore the astern region of Longyang. The inversion results were compared with Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer Land Surface Temperature (MODIS LST) results for analysis and cross-validation to select the optimal algorithm. A multi-view remote sensing temperature anomaly information extraction method was adopted. Moreover, the overall threshold method, the fracture structure buffer method, and the joint analysis of diurnal temporal data were combined for the reduction of the thermal anomaly area as well as for comprehensively defining the geothermal prospective area in the study area. The results demonstrated that the mono-window algorithm had the highest accuracy with a Pearson coefficient of 0.77, which is more suitable for the surface temperature inversion in Longyang area. Furthermore, three geothermal anomalies (A, B, and C) were identified in the study area, with larger thermal anomaly in A and C, but a smaller one in B. All three areas had hot spring points verified, with A and C exhibiting more significant development potential. The research results provide a reliable methodological basis for the development of geothermal resources in the region.

RESUMO

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a harmful cancer with high morbidity and poor prognosis. There is growing evidence that RNA methylation is closely related to the occurrence of cancer and its malignant biological behavior. N6-methyladenosine (m6A) methylation is the most common RNA modification in eukaryotes, and its multiple regulatory mechanisms in CRC have been elucidated from multiple perspectives. At the same time, the role of 5-methylcytosine (m5C), another important and widely distributed methylation modification, in CRC is far from being elucidated. Methods: In this study, we used RNA immunoprecipitation sequencing combined with bioinformatics methods to identify the m5C peaks on messenger RNA (mRNA) in HCT15 cells and sh-NSUN2 HCT15 cells, understand which transcripts are modified by m5C, and characterize the distribution of m5C modifications. In addition, we performed further bioinformatics analysis of the detected data to initially clarify the potential function of these m5C-modified transcripts. Results: We found significant differences in the distribution of m5C between HCT15 cells and sh-NSUN2 HCT15 cells, suggesting that m5C is likely to play a key role in the occurrence and development of CRC. Furthermore, Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment analysis showed that genes altered by m5C were mainly enriched in phylogeny, synaptic membrane, and transcription factor binding. The Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG)pathway analysis showed that the genes altered by m5C are enriched in ECM receptor interaction pathway, the circadian pathway, and the cAMP signaling pathway. Conclusion: Here, our study preliminarily revealed the different distribution patterns of m5C between HCT15 cell and sh-NSUN2 HCT15 cell. Our results open a new window to understand the role of m5C RNA methylation of mRNA in the development of CRC.

RESUMO

Fritillaria has a long history in China, and it can be consumed as medicine and food. Owing to the high cost of Fritillaria cirrhosa, traders sometimes mix it with the cheaper Fritillaria thunbergii powder to make profit. Herein, we proposed a laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) technique to test the adulteration present in the sample of Fritillaria cirrhosa powder. Experimental samples with different adulteration levels were prepared, and their LIBS spectra were obtained. Partial least squares regression (PLSR) was adopted as the quantitative analysis model to compare the effects of four data standardization methods, namely, mean centring, normalization by total area, standard normal variable, and normalization by the maximum, on the performance of the PLSR model. Principal component analysis and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) were utilized for feature extraction and feature selection, and the performance of the PLSR model was determined based on its quantitative analysis. Subsequently, the optimal number of features was determined. The residuals were corrected using support vector regression (SVR). The mean absolute error and root mean square error of prediction obtained from the quantitative analysis results of the combined LASSO-PLSR-SVR model for the test set data were 5.0396% and 7.2491%, respectively, and the coefficient of determination R2 was 0.9983. The results showed that the LIBS technique can be adopted to test adulteration in the sample of Fritillaria cirrhosa powder and has potential applications in drug quality control.

RESUMO

The glioma boundary is difficult to identify during surgery due to the infiltrative characteristics of tumor cells. In order to ensure a full resection rate and increase the postoperative survival of patients, it is often necessary to make an expansion range resection, which may have harmful effects on the quality of the patient's survival. A full-Stokes laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (FSLIBS) theory with a corresponding system is proposed to combine the elemental composition information and polarization information for glioma boundary detection. To verify the elemental content of brain tissues and provide an analytical basis, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and LIBS are also applied to analyze the healthy, boundary, and glioma tissues. Totally, 42 fresh tissue samples are analyzed, and the Ca, Na, K elemental lines and CN, C2 molecular fragmental bands are proved to take an important role in the different tissue identification. The FSLIBS provides complete polarization information and elemental information than conventional LIBS elemental analysis. The Stokes parameter spectra can significantly reduce the under-fitting phenomenon of artificial intelligence identification models. Meanwhile, the FSLIBS spectral features within glioma samples are relatively more stable than boundary and healthy tissues. Other tissues may be affected obviously by individual differences in lesion positions and patients. In the future, the FSLIBS may be used for the precise identification of glioma boundaries based on polarization and elemental characterizing ability.
