RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Some plants germinate their seeds enclosed by a pericarp, while others lack the outer packaging. As a maternal tissue, may impart seeds with different germination strategies. Plants in a community with different flowering times may separately disperse and germinate their seeds; therefore, flowering time can be considered as one manifestation of maternal effects on offspring. The mass of the seed is another important factor influencing germination and represents the intrinsic resource of seed that supports the germination. Using seeds from a species-rich alpine meadow located in the Hengduan Mountains of China, a global biodiversity hotspot, we aim to illustrate whether and how the type of seed (with and without a pericarp) modulates the interaction of flowering time and seed mass with germination. METHODS: Seeds were germinated under a generally favorable condition and germination speed (estimated by mean germination time, MGT) was calculated. We quantified the maternal conditions by separation of flowering time for 67 species in the meadow, in which 31 produced seeds with pericarps and 36 yielded seeds without pericarps, respectively. We also weighed one hundred seeds to assess their mass. KEY RESULTS: The MGT varied between the two types of seed. For seeds with pericarps, MGT was associated with flowering time but not with seed mass. Plants with earlier flowering times in the meadow exhibited more rapid seed germination. For seeds without pericarp, the MGT depended on seed mass, with smaller seeds germinating more rapidly than larger seeds. CONCLUSIONS: The distinct responses of germination to flowering time and seed mass observed in seeds with and without pericarp suggest that germination strategies might be mother-reliant for seeds protected by pericarps but self-reliant for those without such protection. This novel finding improves our understanding of seed germination by integrating ecologically mediated maternal conditions and inherent genetic properties.

RESUMO

Providing efficient electronic transport channels has always been a promising strategy to mitigate the recombination of photogenerated charge carriers. In this study, a heterostructure composed of a semiconductor/photoinactive-metal-organic framework (MOF) was constructed to provide innovative channels for electronic transport. Prepared using a previously reported method ( Angew. Chem., Int. Ed. 2016, 55, 15301-15305) with slight modifications to temperature and reaction time, the CuS@HKUST-1 hollow cuboctahedron was synthesized. The CuS@HKUST-1 heterostructure possessed a well-defined cuboctahedral morphology with a uniform size of about 500 nm and a hollow structure with a thickness of around 50 nm. The CuS nanoparticles were uniformly distributed on the HKUST-1 shell. Structural characterization in cooperation with density functional theory (DFT) calculations revealed that CuS can effectively transfer photogenerated electrons to HKUST-1. CuS@HKUST-1 hollow cuboctahedrons were first introduced to the photocatalytic cycloaddition reaction of CO2 with epoxides, demonstrating excellent photocatalytic activity and stability at mild conditions (room temperature, solvent-free, and 1 atm CO2 pressure). The high photocatalytic performance of the CuS@HKUST-1 hollow cuboctahedron could be attributed to (1) the unique hollow cuboctahedron morphology, which provided a large specific surface area (693.1 m2/g) and facilitated the diffusion and transfer of reactants and products; and (2) CuS@HKUST-1 providing electronic transport channels from CuS to HKUST-1, which could enhance the adsorption and activation of CO2. Cu2+ carrying surplus electrons can activate CO2 to CO2-. The charge separation and transfer in the photocatalytic process can also be effectively promoted. This work provides a cost-effective and environmentally friendly approach for CO2 utilization reactions under ambient conditions, addressing the critical issue of rising atmospheric CO2 levels.

RESUMO

Antibacterial materials with high hydrophobicity have drawbacks such as protein adsorption, bacterial contamination, and biofilm formation, which are responsible for some serious adverse health events. Therefore, antibacterial materials with high hydrophilicity are highly desired. In this paper, UV-curable antibacterial materials are prepared from silicone-containing Choline chloride (ChCl) functionalized hyperbranched quaternary ammonium salts (QAS) and tri-hydroxylethyl acrylate phosphate (TAEP). The materials show high hydrophilic performance because their water contact angle is as low as 19.3°. The materials also exhibit quite high antibacterial efficiency against S. aureus over 95.6%, fairly high transmittance over 90%, and good mechanical performance with tensile strength as high as 6.5 MPa. It reveals that it is a feasible strategy to develop antibacterial materials with low hydrophobicity from silicone-modified ChCl-functionalized hyperbranched QAS.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Ultrasound guidance endoscopic surgery (ES) has been widely used in the treatment of cerebral hemorrhage in recent years, but relevant research articles are still scarce. Our study aims to investigate the effect of ES compared with conventional craniotomy (CC) on the postoperative complications, and prognosis of patients with intracerebral hemorrhage. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The clinical data of 1201 patients with ICH treated in our hospital from January 2017 to January 2020 were collected. The t-test, Chi-squared test and Fisher's exact test were used to analyze the clinical baseline data. Among 1021 spontaneous ICH patients, 193 patients who underwent hematoma evacuation were included in the present analysis. RESULTS: The Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS) score at 6 months had a favorable prognosis in ES group (p = 0.003). ES group had fewer postoperative complications compared with CC group. Operating time and intraoperative blood loss were significantly lower in ES group than CC group (p = 0.001 and p = 0.002). CONCLUSIONS: Our study revealed that receiving ES improved the prognosis of ICH patients. Additionally, endoscopic surgery diminishes operative time, and intraoperative blood loss and reduces the incidence of postoperative complications.

RESUMO

This meta-analysis aimed to explore the effects of quality nursing intervention on wound healing in patients with burns. A computerised search was conducted for randomised controlled trials (RCTs) on the effect of quality nursing intervention on wound healing in patients with burns in the PubMed, Embase, Google Scholar, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure and Wanfang databases from the date of database inception to November 2023. Two researchers independently screened the literature, extracted data and performed quality assessment based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Stata 17.0 software was used for the data analysis. Twenty-nine RCTs involving 2637 patients with burns were included. The meta-analysis revealed that compared with conventional nursing, the implementation of quality nursing intervention in patients with burns significantly shortened the wound healing time (standardised mean difference [SMD] = -2.93, 95% confidence interval [CI]: -3.44 to -2.42, p < 0.001). The incidence of wound infections (odds ratio [OR] = 0.14, 95% CI: 0.07-0.27, p < 0.001) and complications (OR = 0.16, 95% CI: 0.11-0.23, p < 0.001) was also reduced significantly. This meta-analysis shows that applying quality nursing interventions in patients with burns can significantly shorten the wound healing time and reduce the incidence of wound infection and complications, thus promoting early patient recovery.

RESUMO

This study aims to evaluate the in vivo function of Fusarium oxysporum in Glycyrrhiza uralensis by salt tolerance, indoleacetic acid(IAA) production capacity, phosphate-dissolving capacity, and iron carrier production capacity. The stable genetic transformation system of the F. oxysporum was established by Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated genetic transformation( ATMT)technology, and the stability and staining efficiency of transformants were detected by the cloning of the marker gene green fluorescent protein(GFP) and the efficiency of ß-glucuronidase staining(GUS). Efficient and stable transformants were selected for restaining G. uralensis and evaluating its influence on the growth of the G. uralensis seedlings. The results show that F. oxysporum has good salt tolerance and could still grow on potato glucose agar(PDA) medium containing 7% sodium chloride, but the growth rate slows down with the increase in sodium chloride content in PDA medium. F. oxysporum has the function of producing indoleacetic acid, and the concentration of IAA in its fermentation broth is about 3. 32 mg · m L~(-1). In this study, the genetic transformation system of F. oxysporum is successfully constructed, and the ATMT system is efficient and stable. One transformant with both high staining efficiency and genetic stability is selected, and the restaining rate of the transformant in G. uralensis is 76. 92%, which could significantly improve the main root length of one-month-old G. uralensis seedlings and promote the growth and development of G. uralensis seedlings. The results of this study can lay the foundation for the development of biological bacterial fertilizer and the growth regulation of high-quality G. uralensis.

RESUMO

The construction of commercial surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) sensors suitable for clinical applications is a pending problem, which is heavily limited by the low production of high-performance SERS bases, because they usually require fine or complicated micro/nano structures. To solve this issue, herein, a promising mass-productive 4-inch ultrasensitive SERS substrate available for early lung cancer diagnosis is proposed, which is designed with a special architecture of particle in micro-nano porous structure. Benefitting from the effective cascaded electric field coupling inside the particle-in-cavity structure and efficient Knudsen diffusion of molecules within the nanohole, the substrate exhibits remarkable SERS performance for gaseous malignancy biomarker, with the limit of detection is 0.1 ppb and the average relative standard deviation value at different scales (from cm2 to µm2 ) is ≈16.5%. In practical application, this large-sized sensor can be further divided into small ones (1 × 1 cm2 ), and more than 65 chips will be obtained from just one 4-inch wafer, greatly increasing the output of commercial SERS sensor. Further, a medical breath bag composed of this small chip is designed and studied in detail here, which suggested high-specificity recognition for lung cancer biomarker in mixed mimetic exhalation tests.

RESUMO

Coumarins are generally considered to be produced by natural plants. Fungi have been reported to produce coumarins, but their biosynthetic pathways are still unknown. In this study, Fusarium oxysporum GU-7 and GU-60 were isolated from Glycyrrhiza uralensis, and their antioxidant activities were determined to be significantly different. Abundant dipeptide, phenolic acids, and the plant-derived coumarins fraxetin and scopoletin were identified in GU-7 by untargeted metabolomics, and these compounds may account for its stronger antioxidant activity compared to GU-60. Combined with metabolome and RNA sequencing analysis, we identified 24 potentially key genes involved in coumarin biosynthesis and 6 intermediate metabolites. Interestingly, the best hit of S8H, a key gene involved in hydroxylation at the C-8 position of scopoletin to yield fraxetin, belongs to a plant species. Additionally, nondestructive infection of G. uralensis seeds with GU-7 significantly improved the antioxidant activity of seedlings compared to the control group. This antioxidant activity may depend on the biological characteristics of endophytes themselves, as we observed a positive correlation between the antioxidant activity of endophytic fungi and that of their nondestructively infected seedlings. IMPORTANCE Plant-produced coumarins have been shown to play an important role in assembly of the plant microbiomes and iron acquisition. Coumarins can also be produced by some microorganisms. However, studies on coumarin biosynthesis in microorganisms are still lacking. We report for the first time that fraxetin and scopoletin were simultaneously produced by F. oxysporum GU-7 with strong free radical scavenging abilities. Subsequently, we identified intermediate metabolites and key genes in the biosynthesis of these two coumarins. This is the first report on the coumarin biosynthesis pathway in nonplant species, providing new strategies and perspectives for coumarin production and expanding research on new ways for plants to obtain iron.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Current chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) assessment tools mostly have poor sensitivity and weak anti-interference, so that it is sometimes difficult to provide substantive guidance for clinical intervention. This study aimed to develop an assessment tool dedicated for oxaliplatin to address these limitations. METHODS: This study screened 445 OIPN-related literatures for producing a symptom list, and developed the questionnaire module through expert supplement, item generation, content correlation analysis, pre-testing, and item improvement. The validation phase used a Chinese population-based prospective cohort study from June 2021 to July 2022. Patients were requested to complete the tested questionnaire, QLQ-CIPN20 and the CTCAE grading one day before cycles 2-6 of chemotherapy. Cronbach's α coefficient and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) were calculated for the internal consistency and stability analysis, respectively. Exploratory factor analysis was conducted to investigate the construct validity. The correlations among the tested questionnaire, QLQ-CIPN20 and CTCAE were compared for the criterion validity analysis. Wilcoxon signed-rank sum test was utilized to compare the sensitivity between the tested questionnaire and QLQ-CIPN20. RESULT: A 20-item CIPN assessment tool named chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy integrated assessment - oxaliplatin subscale (CIPNIA-OS) was developed. The validation phase included 186 patients. Cronbach's α coefficient of CIPNIA-OS was 0.764 (> 0.7), and ICC was 0.997 (between 0.9 and 1). The structure of CIPNIA-OS containing seven factors was examined. The correlation coefficient between CIPNIA-OS and CTCAE was 0.661 (95%CI 0.623 to 0.695), which was significantly higher than that between QLQ-CIPN20 and CTCAE (0.417, 95%CI 0.363 to 0.469, p < 0.01). Besides, the total score of CIPNIA-OS was mostly higher than QLQ-CIPN20, with an average difference of 2.189 (CI 95% 2.056 to 2.322), and the difference gradually expanded with the progress of chemotherapy (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: This study developed an original CIPN questionnaire which was dedicated for OIPN assessment. It was a comprehensive tool that covered acute OIPN symptoms and integrated features from several proven CIPN assessment tools. The validation results supported that CIPNIA-OS had satisfactory reliability, stability, construct, criterion validity, and was more accuracy and sensitive than QLQ-CIPN20 in the evaluation of OIPN.

RESUMO

NMDA receptor subunits have differential roles in mediating excitotoxic neuronal death both in vitro and in vivo . Activation of NR2A-containing NMDA receptors promotes neuronal survival and exerts a neuroprotective action, whereas over activating GluN2B-containing receptor results in excitotoxicity, increasing neuronal apoptosis. Our previous study has identified Npam 43 as a NMDAR positive allosteric modulators. However, the cis-trans isomerization impedes the development of Npam 43 as potential neuroprotective agents. To discover more potent and selective GluN2A NMDAR positive allosteric modulators, 38 derivatives were synthesized and evaluated their neuroprotective effect on glutamate-exposed PC-12 cells. The allosteric activities of compounds were evaluated using calcium imaging approaches. Among them, compound 5c exhibit GluN1/2A selectivity over GluN1/2B and show neuroprotective activity in vitro and in vivo. This study reported a series of GluN1/2A positive allosteric modulators as neuroprotective agents, and provided a potential opportunity to discover new drugs for stroke treatment.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Postoperative delirium (POD) is an important complication for older patients and recent randomised controlled trials have showed a conflicting result of the effect of deep and light anesthesia. METHODS: We included randomised controlled trials including older adults that evaluated the effect of anesthetic depth on postoperative delirium from PubMed, Embase, Web of Science and Cochrane Library. We considered deep anesthesia as observer's assessment of the alertness/ sedation scale (OAA/S) of 0-2 or targeted bispectral (BIS) < 45 and the light anesthesia was considered OAA/S 3-5 or targeted BIS > 50. The primary outcome was incidence of POD within 7 days after surgery. And the secondary outcomes were mortality and cognitive function 3 months or more after surgery. The quality of evidence was assessed via the grading of recommendations assessment, development, and evaluation approach. RESULTS: We included 6 studies represented 7736 patients aged 60 years and older. We observed that the deep anesthesia would not increase incidence of POD when compared with the light anesthesia when 4 related studies were pooled (OR, 1.40; 95% CI, 0.63-3.08, P = 0.41, I2 = 82%, low certainty). And no significant was found in mortality (OR, 1.12; 95% CI, 0.93-1.35, P = 0.23, I2 = 0%, high certainty) and cognitive function (OR, 1.13; 95% CI, 0.67-1.91, P = 0.64, I2 = 13%, high certainty) 3 months or more after surgery between deep anesthesia and light anesthesia. CONCLUSIONS: Low-quality evidence suggests that light general anesthesia was not associated with lower POD incidence than deep general anesthesia. And High-quality evidence showed that anesthetic depth did not affect the long-term mortality and cognitive function. SYSTEMATIC REVIEW REGISTRATION: CRD42022300829 (PROSPERO).

RESUMO

In the present study, a fluid-filled RF MEMS (Radio Frequency Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) switch is proposed and designed. In the analysis of the operating principle of the proposed switch, air, water, glycerol and silicone oil were adopted as filling dielectric to simulate and research the influence of the insulating liquid on the drive voltage, impact velocity, response time, and switching capacity of the RF MEMS switch. The results show that by filling the switch with insulating liquid, the driving voltage can be effectively reduced, while the impact velocity of the upper plate to the lower plate is also reduced. The high dielectric constant of the filling medium leads to a lower switching capacitance ratio, which affects the performance of the switch to some extent. By comparing the threshold voltage, impact velocity, capacitance ratio, and insertion loss of the switch filled with different media with the filling media of air, water, glycerol, and silicone oil, silicone oil was finally selected as the liquid filling medium for the switch. The results show that the threshold voltage is 26.55 V after filling with silicone oil, which is 43% lower under the same air-encapsulated switching conditions. When the trigger voltage is 30.02 V, the response time is 10.12 µs and the impact speed is only 0.35 m/s. The frequency 0-20 GHz switch works well, and the insertion loss is 0.84 dB. To a certain extent, it provides a reference value for the fabrication of RF MEMS switches.

RESUMO

Due to the influence of poor lighting conditions and the limitations of existing imaging equipment, captured low-illumination images produce noise, artifacts, darkening, and other unpleasant visual problems. Such problems will have an adverse impact on the following high-level image understanding tasks. To overcome this, a two-stage network is proposed in this paper for better restoring low-illumination images. Specifically, instead of manipulating the raw input directly, our network first decomposes the low-illumination image into three different maps (i.e., reflectance, illumination, and feature) via a Decom-Net. During the decomposition process, only reflectance and illumination are further denoised to suppress the effect of noise, while the feature is preserved to reduce the loss of image details. Subsequently, the illumination is deeply adjusted via another well-designed subnetwork called Enhance-Net. Finally, the three restored maps are fused together to generate the final enhanced output. The entire proposed network is optimized in a zero-shot fashion using a newly introduced loss function. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed network achieves better performance in terms of both objective evaluation and visual quality.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To review the current literature on immunological mechanisms and treatable traits of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) in Asia. DESIGN: This is a narrative review of published data on the immunological mechanisms and treatable traits of CRS in Asia. Published English literature on CRS in Asian and Western countries was reviewed. Where available, the data extracted included epidemiology, immunology, bacterium, phenotype, endotype and treatment. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: CRS is a heterogeneous disease characterised by persistent locoregional mucosal inflammation of the paranasal sinuses. The inflammatory signatures of CRS vary across patients with distinct racial and ethnic backgrounds and geographic areas. Compared to CRS patients in Western countries, Asian CRS patients display less eosinophilic and Type 2 inflammation, which is associated with lower asthma and allergic rhinitis comorbidities. In contrast, Asian patients with CRS have more prominent non-eosinophilic inflammation than those in Western countries. In addition, Asian CRS patients may have different bacterial colonisation than patients in Western countries. Our review suggests that the distinct immunological mechanisms between Asian and Western CRS patients may influence the clinical phenotype, responses to treatment and outcomes. The treatable trait is a new strategy and therapeutic target identified by phenotype or endotype and has been proposed as a new paradigm for the management of diseases. Improved understanding of CRS phenotypic and endotypic heterogeneity and incorporation of treatable traits into clinical care pathways may facilitate more effective selections of therapeutic interventions, including surgery and biologics.

RESUMO

In the present study, 27 bacterial strains were isolated from environmental samples and screened for higher lignocellulose-degrading efficiency. The best degrader was combined in pairs with 14 strains with high ß-glucosidase activity to formulate a consortium. Microbial consortium 625 showed high lignocellulose degradation efficiency. ZJW-6 with low ß-glucosidase activity and the best lignocellulose decomposer was identified as a member of Cellulomonas. Consortium 625 composed of ZJW-6 and DA-25, an Acinetobacter, showed the highest degradation rate (57.62%) under optimized conditions. The DA-25 filtrate promoted ZJW-6 growth, upregulating the activity of key lignocellulose-degrading enzymes, including ß-glucosidase, endoglucanase, xylanase, laccase, and lignin peroxidase. ZJW-6 and DA-25 worked in a subordination manner when co-cultivated. ZJW-6 acted as the major decomposer whose growth and enzymatic activities were promoted by DA-25. This study proposes a novel microbial consortium with improved lignocellulose degradation efficiency and reduce the C:N ratio of lignocellulose materials, which can enhance bioenergy production.

RESUMO

The efficacy of targeted therapy in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has been impeded by various mechanisms of resistance. Besides the mutations in targeted oncogenes, reversible lineage plasticity has recently considered to play a role in the development of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) resistance in NSCLC. Lineage plasticity enables cells to transfer from one committed developmental pathway to another, and has been a trigger of tumor adaptation to adverse microenvironment conditions including exposure to various therapies. More importantly, besides somatic mutation, lineage plasticity has also been proposed as another source of intratumoural heterogeneity. Lineage plasticity can drive NSCLC cells to a new cell identity which no longer depends on the drug-targeted pathway. Histological transformation and epithelial-mesenchymal transition are two well-known pathways of lineage plasticity-mediated TKI resistance in NSCLC. In the last decade, increased re-biopsy practice upon disease recurrence has increased the recognition of lineage plasticity induced resistance in NSCLC and has improved our understanding of the underlying biology. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), the dark matter of the genome, are capable of regulating variant malignant processes of NSCLC like the invisible hands. Recent evidence suggests that lncRNAs are involved in TKI resistance in NSCLC, particularly in lineage plasticity-mediated resistance. In this review, we summarize the mechanisms of lncRNAs in regulating lineage plasticity and TKI resistance in NSCLC. We also discuss how understanding these themes can alter therapeutic strategies, including combination therapy approaches to overcome TKI resistance.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Humane treatment requires the provision of appropriate sedation and analgesia during medical diagnosis and treatment. However, limited information is available about the status of procedural analgesic interventions in Chinese hospitals. Therefore, a nationwide survey was established to identify challenges and propose potential improvement strategies. METHODS: Forty-three members of the Pain Group of Chinese Society of Anesthesiology established and reviewed the questionnaire, which included (1) general information on the hospitals, (2) the sedation/analgesia rate in gastrointestinal endoscopy, labor, flexible bronchoscopy, hysteroscopy in China, (3) staff assignments, (4) drug use for procedural analgesic interventions, and (5) difficulties in procedural analgesic interventions. The data were obtained using an online questionnaire sent to the chief anesthesiologists of Chinese hospitals above Grade II or members of the Pain Group of Chinese Society of Anesthesiology. RESULTS: Valid and complete questionnaires were received from 2198 (44.0%) hospitals, of which 64.5% were Grade III. The overall sedation/analgesia rates were as follows: gastroscopy (50.6%), colonoscopy (53.7%), ERCP (65.9%), induced abortion (67.5%), labor (42.3%), hysteroscopy (67.0%) and fiber bronchoscopy (52.6%). Compared with Grade II hospitals, Grade III hospitals had a higher proportion of procedural analgesic interventions services except for induced abortion. On average (median [IQR]), each anesthesiologist performed 5.7 [2.3-11.4] cases per day, with 7.3 [3.2-13.6] performed in Grade III hospitals and 3.4 [1.8-6.8] performed in Grade II hospitals (z = -7.065, p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Chinese anesthesiologists have made great efforts to achieve procedural analgesic interventions, as evidenced by the increased rate. The uneven health care provided by hospitals at different levels and in different regions and the lack of anesthesiologists are the main barriers to optimal procedural analgesic interventions.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Little is known about patients' intention for participation in end-of-life decisions (EOLD) in three coastal provinces in southern China. This study aimed to explore the willingness of patients with cancer pain to participate in EOLD and potential influencing factors. METHODS: A multi-center cross-sectional study was performed in three coastal provinces in southern China. Two hundred and thirty patients with cancer pain were recruited and consented to fill out the questionnaires. The patients' willingness to participate in EOLD, demographic and disease-related data was surveyed. RESULTS: In total, 223 patients completed and returned the survey (response rate = 96.95%). One hundred four cases (46.64%) were willing to participate in EOLD. 119 (54.36%) cases not willing to participate in EOLD, respectively. Multivariate logistic regression analysis shows that educational level (OR: 0.683, 95% CI: 0.482-0.966), history of alcoholism (OR: 8.353, 95%CI: 2.535-27.525), Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) score (OR: 0.645, 95% CI: 0.450-0.925) and experience of explosive pain (OR: 6.367, 95% CI: 3.103-13.062) and clinical rescue (OR: 3.844, 95% CI: 1.722-8.577) had significant effects on EOLD intention (P <  0.05). Finally, a predictive model combined above five factors was established, which showed a good discrimination (area under receiver operating characteristic curve: 0.849, 95% CI: 0.796-0.899, P <  0.001) and calibration (Hosmer-Lemeshow Test: Chi-square = 10.103, P = 0.258) for which patients more willing to participate in EOLD. CONCLUSIONS: The willingness of patients with cancer pain to participate in EOLD is at a modest level in three coastal provinces in southern China. Patients with lower educational level, history of alcoholism, better health status and experience of explosive pain and clinical rescue may be more prone to participate in EOLD.

RESUMO

With the development of deep learning, considerable progress has been made in image restoration. Notably, many state-of-the-art single image super-resolution (SR) methods have been proposed. However, most of them contain many parameters, which leads to a significant amount of calculation consumption in the inference phase. To make current SR networks more lightweight and resource-friendly, we present a convolution neural network with the proposed selective channel processing strategy (SCPN). Specifically, the selective channel processing module (SCPM) is first designed to dynamically learn the significance of each channel in the feature map using a channel selection matrix in the training phase. Correspondingly, in the inference phase, only the essential channels indicated by the channel selection matrixes need to be further processed. By doing so, we can significantly reduce the parameters and the calculation consumption. Moreover, the differential channel attention (DCA) block is proposed, which takes into consideration the data distribution of the channels in feature maps to restore more high-frequency information. Extensive experiments are performed on the natural image super-resolution benchmarks (i.e., Set5, Set14, B100, Urban100, Manga109) and remote-sensing benchmarks (i.e., UCTest and RESISCTest), and our method achieves superior results to other state-of-the-art methods. Furthermore, our method keeps a slim size with fewer than 1 M parameters, which proves the superiority of our method. Owing to the proposed SCPM and DCA, our SCPN model achieves a better trade-off between calculation cost and performance in both general and remote-sensing SR applications, and our proposed method can be extended to other computer vision tasks for further research.

RESUMO

In this Letter, numerical and experimental studies for the spoof-anapole effect are presented. Different from the anapole modes, when electric and toroidal dipole intensities are minimized, the spoof-anapole effect can be generated. The spoof-anapole effect can reduce the radiation losses with a high $Q$-factor. The concept is valid in various frequency bands from microwave range for millimeter-sized objects to visible range for nanoparticles. The spoof-anapole modes are first experimentally realized in microwave metamaterials. Almost perfect spoof-anapole behavior is observed, which produces an extremely high $Q$-factor at the resonance frequency. The experimental results agree well with the analytical ones and pave way to excite the non-radiating electromagnetic sources.
