RESUMO

Organic luminescent materials are indispensable in optoelectronic displays and solid-state luminescence applications. Compared with single-component, multi-component crystalline materials can improve optoelectronic characteristics. This work forms a series of full-spectrum tunable luminescent charge-transfer (CT) cocrystals ranging from 400 to 800 nm through intermolecular collaborative self-assembly. What is even more interesting is that o-TCP-Cor(x)-Pe(1-x), p-TCP-Cor(x)-Pe(1-x), and o-TCP-AN(x)-TP(1-x) alloys are prepared based on cocrystals by doping strategies, which correspondingly achieve the stepless color change from blue (CIE [0.22, 0.44]) to green (CIE [0.16, 0.14]), from green (CIE [0.27, 0.56]) to orange (CIE [0.58, 0.42]), from yellow (CIE [0.40, 0.57]) to red (CIE [0.65, 0.35]). The work provides an efficient method for precisely synthesizing new luminescent organic semiconductor materials and lays a solid foundation for developing advanced organic solid-state displays.

RESUMO

Stitching interferometry is an essential technique for the non-contact, high-precision measurement of large apertures or complex optical surfaces. However, the accuracy of full-aperture surface reconstruction is significantly compromised by subaperture positioning and systematic errors. To address this challenge, this study introduces a novel stitching interferometry method utilizing alternating calibration of positioning and systematic errors (SIAC). This method calibrates one type of error while maintaining the other constant, and alternates between these processes to effectively decouple the two errors, facilitating accurate phase stitching. Within this calibration framework, an iterative weighted phase stitching model employing vertical projection for estimating overlapping areas was developed to calibrate positioning errors. Additionally, the rotation measurements of a single subaperture, in conjunction with a global fitting approach, were employed to correct reference errors. Numerical simulations have confirmed the efficacy of SIAC in calibrating these errors. Moreover, experimental measurements were performed on both a plane mirror and gullwing aspheres, with the resulting stitched full-aperture phase distributions and cross-testing outcomes affirming the method's accuracy and practicality. This research provides a novel solution for stitching interferometry, enhancing the precision of optical surface measurements.

RESUMO

This study demonstrates a three-cavity multiplexing vibration-resistant Fizeau interferometry (TCM). The method injects a vibration-measurement pass (VMP), which utilizes three-cavity hybrid interference for the transmission of phase and vibration information, to the Fizeau phase-measurement pass (PMP). Moreover, the VMP is demultiplexed using the temporal difference of mixed fringes and synchronous phase-shifting phase extraction of difference fringe to obtain the vibration information, which is then used to calculate the measured phase combined with PMP. The feasibility and performance of the TCM are demonstrated experimentally. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first proposal of the TCM that not only solves the effect of vibration and null-fringe demodulation but also features a common path, simple testing process, and low system complexity.

RESUMO

Herein, we report an extensive phytochemical study on the whole plant of Drymaria cordata, which led to the isolation of ten new orbitides, named drymariamides A-J (1-10). Compounds 2, 3, and 5 incorporate rare residues of noncanonical amino acids of kynurenine (Kyn) or 3a-hydroxypyrroloindoline (HPI). Their structures with absolute configurations were elucidated by a combination of spectroscopic analysis, advanced Marfey's method, X-ray diffraction, and electronic circular dichroism analysis. Compounds 1-10 exhibited antiadipogenic effects in 3T3-L1 adipocytes, and the most potent compound 7 showed an EC50 value of 1.17 ± 0.19 µM.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Concerns about the adverse effects of excessive oxygen have grown over the years. This study investigated the relationship between high oxygen saturation and short-term prognosis of patients with spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (sICH) after liberal use of oxygen. METHODS: This retrospective cohort study collected data from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care III (MIMIC-III) database (ICU cohort) and a tertiary stroke center (general ward cohort). The data on pulse oximetry-derived oxygen saturation (SpO2) during the first 24 h in ICU and general wards were respectively extracted. RESULTS: Overall, 1117 and 372 patients were included in the ICU and general ward cohort, respectively. Among the patients from the ICU cohort, a spoon-shaped association was observed between minimum SpO2 and the risk of in-hospital mortality (non-linear P<0.0001). In comparison with minimum SpO2 of 93-97%, the minimum SpO2>97% was associated with a significantly higher risk of in-hospital mortality after adjustment for confounders. Sensitivity analysis conducted using propensity score matching did not change this significance. The same spoon-shaped association between minimum SpO2 and the risk of in-hospital mortality was also detected for the general ward cohort. In comparison with the group with 95-97% SpO2, the group with SpO2>97% showed a stronger association with, but non-significant risk for, in-hospital mortality after adjustment for confounders. The time-weighted average SpO2>97% was associated significantly with in-hospital mortality in both cohorts. CONCLUSION: Higher SpO2 (especially a minimum SpO2>97%) was unrewarding after liberal use of oxygen among patients with sICH and might even be potentially detrimental.

RESUMO

Aspheres have widespread applications in modern optical systems; however, the high-precision testing of the gull-wing asphere (GWA) is still challenging. In this Letter, flexible stitching interferometry (FSI) has been reported using variable-sign curvature compensation (VSCC) to realize accurate GWA testing. The method involves varying the sign and magnitude of the outgoing wavefront curvature by relative translation of VSCC to compensate for the curvatures of subapertures, and alternating optimization stitching is utilized to obtain the full-aperture absolute phase. The feasibility and performance of the proposed method are demonstrated experimentally. To our knowledge, such a stitching interferometry using VSCC is here proposed for the first time, and could contribute to general aspheric interferometry.

RESUMO

Fizeau wavelength measurement plays an important role in the fields of laser technology, optical communication, and optical metrology. The accuracy of the traditional multistage Fizeau wavemeter is limited owing to the degradation of the stripe symmetry and finesse caused by variations in the cavity length. Herein, we propose a virtual Fizeau cavity (VFC) based on the principle of phase difference to address this issue. The principle analysis and simulation of this measurement system are presented, along with experiments that verified the feasibility and performance of the VFC method. The wavelength measurement accuracy of this system is superior to 60 MHz in the 350-1100 nm wavelength range. The design concept of "virtual-real combined" cavities first proposed in this paper to our knowledge introduces possibilities for the development of high-accuracy Fizeau wavelength measurements.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Obesity is mediated by the changes in dyslipidemia, oxidative stress, and inflammation, leading to vascular endothelial dysfunction. Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) analogues and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors prevent the development of endothelial dysfunction. However, the underlying mechanism still remains largely unclear. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), one class of non-coding small RNAs, have been shown to exert a regulatory impact on the endothelial function in obesity. This study aimed to investigate whether the elevation of GLP-1 by a DPP-4 inhibitor sitagliptin improved vascular endothelial function by modulating lncRNAs in obese mice and to clarify the underlying molecular mechanism. METHODS: Male C57BL/6J mice were fed a high-fat diet for 4 months to induce obesity and some obese mice were treated with sitagliptin for the last 1 month. Levels of total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) in plasma were detected by ELISA. LncRNA expression profile was analyzed via microarray. Aortic relaxations were examined by myograph. Protein expressions and phosphorylations were determined using western blot. The differentially expressed lncRNAs were validated using qRT-PCR. RESULTS: Obese mice exhibited increased levels of TC and LDL, decreased concentrations of HDL and GLP-1 in plasma, and impaired aortic endothelium-dependent relaxations; such effects could be reversed by sitagliptin. Moreover, the altered expression profile of lncRNAs in the obese mouse aortae could be modulated by sitagliptin. Consistent with microarray analysis, qRT-PCR also revealed that lncRNA ENSMUST00000213271 was up-regulated in obese mouse aortae and aortic endothelial cells (ECs), which could be down-regulated by sitagliptin. Creb5 silencing reduced lncRNA ENSMUST00000213271 in obese mouse ECs. Knockdown of either Creb5 or lncRNA ENSMUST00000213271 restored the activation of AMPK/eNOS in obese mouse ECs. Furthermore, sitagliptin also suppressed Creb5 and lncRNA ENSMUST00000213271 and increased the phosphorylations of AMPK and eNOS in obese mice. CONCLUSION: Creb5/lncRNA ENSMUST00000213271 mediated vascular endothelial dysfunction through inhibiting AMPK/eNOS cascade in obesity. Elevation of GLP-1 by sitagliptin possibly improved endothelial function by suppressing Creb5/lncRNA ENSMUST00000213271 and subsequently restoring AMPK/eNOS activation in obese mice. This study will provide new evidence for the benefits of GLP-1 against vasculopathy in obesity.

RESUMO

Pancreatic cancer is a highly malignant digestive tract tumour with a poor prognosis. We herein report the case of a 58-year-old female who presented, in June 2019, because of upper abdominal discomfort after eating. Initially, the patient was diagnosed with chronic non-atrophic gastritis with erosion and multiple gastric polyps by gastroscopic examination. Subsequently, CT and MRI examinations revealed that dilatation of the pancreatic duct and low-density nodular shadows enhanced in the neck and body of the pancreas. Endoscopic ultrasonography identified the echo foci in the same position. Additionally, a high-level of CA19-9 in the patient's serum was noted, which was a tumour marker of pancreatic cancer. Finally, the patient was diagnosed with poorly differentiated pancreatic cancer with squamous carcinoma and plasmacytoid microcystic adenoma. In conclusion, imaging examination has exhibited a vital functional role in the diagnosis of many cancers, which help gain valuable treatment time and prolong the life of patients.

RESUMO

This study aimed to assess and compare the performance of different machine learning models in predicting selected pig growth traits and genomic estimated breeding values (GEBV) using automated machine learning, with the goal of optimizing whole-genome evaluation methods in pig breeding. The research employed genomic information, pedigree matrices, fixed effects, and phenotype data from 9968 pigs across multiple companies to derive four optimal machine learning models: deep learning (DL), random forest (RF), gradient boosting machine (GBM), and extreme gradient boosting (XGB). Through 10-fold cross-validation, predictions were made for GEBV and phenotypes of pigs reaching weight milestones (100 kg and 115 kg) with adjustments for backfat and days to weight. The findings indicated that machine learning models exhibited higher accuracy in predicting GEBV compared to phenotypic traits. Notably, GBM demonstrated superior GEBV prediction accuracy, with values of 0.683, 0.710, 0.866, and 0.871 for B100, B115, D100, and D115, respectively, slightly outperforming other methods. In phenotype prediction, GBM emerged as the best-performing model for pigs with B100, B115, D100, and D115 traits, achieving prediction accuracies of 0.547, followed by DL at 0.547, and then XGB with accuracies of 0.672 and 0.670. In terms of model training time, RF required the most time, while GBM and DL fell in between, and XGB demonstrated the shortest training time. In summary, machine learning models obtained through automated techniques exhibited higher GEBV prediction accuracy compared to phenotypic traits. GBM emerged as the overall top performer in terms of prediction accuracy and training time efficiency, while XGB demonstrated the ability to train accurate prediction models within a short timeframe. RF, on the other hand, had longer training times and insufficient accuracy, rendering it unsuitable for predicting pig growth traits and GEBV.

RESUMO

This work proposes a robust unwrapping algorithm for noisy and steep phase maps based on the residue calibrated least-squares method. The proposed algorithm calculates and calibrates the residues in the derivative maps to get a noise-free Poisson equation. Moreover, it compensates for the residuals between the wrapped and unwrapped phase maps iteratively to eliminate approximation errors and the smoothing effect of the least-squares method. The robustness and efficiency of the proposed algorithm are validated by unwrapping simulated and experimentally wrapped phase maps. Compared with the other three typical algorithms, the proposed algorithm has the most effective performance in noisy and steep phase unwrapping, providing a reliable alternative for practical applications.

RESUMO

We report and demonstrate a dynamic Fizeau interferometer (DFI) capable of high-precision measurements under severe vibration. The method involves two interferometric passes: a null-interference pass (NP) and a circular carrier-frequency pass (CP). The NP adopts an on-axis Fizeau design, preserving the common path of the reference and test beams. The CP uses an assistant defocused source to generate circular fringe patterns, assisting the NP in phase extraction and sign correction. The feasibility and performance of the proposed method are demonstrated experimentally. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first proposal of a general asynchronous phase-shifting DFI that can not only demodulate null-fringe patterns and correct phase-sign ambiguity but can also maintain the common-path advantages of the Fizeau interferometer.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Femoral neck fracture and lacunar cerebral infarction (LCI) are the most common diseases in the elderly. When LCI patients undergo a series of traumas such as surgery, their postoperative recovery results are often poor. Moreover, few studies have explored the relationship between LCI and femoral neck fracture in the elderly. Therefore, this study will develop a ML (machine learning)-based model to predict LCI before surgery in elderly patients with a femoral neck fracture. METHODS: Professional medical staff retrospectively collected the data of 161 patients with unilateral femoral neck fracture who underwent surgery in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University database from January 1, 2015, to January 1, 2020. Patients were divided into two groups based on LCI (diagnosis based on cranial CT image): the LCI group and the non-LCI group. Preoperative clinical characteristics and preoperative laboratory data were collected for all patients. Features were selected by univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis, with age, white blood cell (WBC), prealbumin, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), total protein, globulin, serum creatinine (Scr), blood urea nitrogen (Bun)/Scr, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), serum sodium and fibrinogen as the features of the ML model. Five machine learning algorithms, Logistic regression (LR), Gradient Boosting Machine (GBM), Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), Random Forest (RF), and Decision tree (DT), were used in combination with preoperative clinical characteristics and laboratory data to establish a predictive model of LCI in patients with a femoral neck fracture. Furthermore, indices like the area under the receiver operating characteristic (AUROC), sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy were calculated to test the models' performance. RESULTS: The AUROC of 5 ML models ranged from 0.76 to 0.95. It turned out that the RF model demonstrated the highest performance in predicting LCI for femoral neck fracture patients before surgery, whose AUROC was 0.95, sensitivity 1.00, specificity 0.81, and accuracy 0.90 in validation sets. Furthermore, the top 4 high-ranking variables in the RF model were prealbumin, fibrinogen, globulin and Scr, in descending order of importance. CONCLUSION: In this study, 5 ML models were developed and validated for patients with femoral neck fracture to predict preoperative LCI. RF model provides an excellent predictive value with an AUROC of 0.95. Clinicians can better conduct multidisciplinary perioperative management for patients with femoral neck fractures through this model and accelerate the postoperative recovery of patients.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most common bone cancer mostly seen in people aged 10-25 years. This research aims to clarify the function of hsa_circ_0001982 in osteosarcoma (OS) and its effect on drug resistance, preliminarily exploring its mechanism. METHODS: The expression of hsa_circ_0001982 and miR-143 in OS clinical tissues and cells was detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), MTT, colony formation assay, and transwell assay assessed cell proliferation, colony formation, migration, and invasion, respectively. The targeted relationship of hsa_circ_0001982 and miR-143 was verified by a dual-luciferase reporter assay. RESULT: The expression of hsa_circ_0001982 was significantly increased in OS tissues and cells (MG63), as in well as chemoresistant OS tissues and cells (MG63/Dox). Overexpression of hsa_circ_0001982 promoted proliferation, colony formation, migration, invasion, and multidrug resistance in MG63 cells. By contrast, knockdown of hsa_circ_0001982 markedly reduced the resistance of MG63/Dox cells to doxorubicin (IC50 evidently reduced). Bioinformatic prediction showed that miR-143 was a target miRNA of hsa_circ_0001982, and a dual-luciferase reporter assay proved this. Further experiments revealed that miR-143 expression was notably downregulated in OS tissues, chemoresistant OS tissues, and MG63/Dox cells. Moreover, miR-143 was negatively correlated with hsa_circ_0001982 in OS cells and tissues. CONCLUSION: The regulation of malignant behaviors such as proliferation, invasion, migration, and multidrug resistance of OS cells by hsa_circ_0001982 may be achieved by targeting miR-143. Moreover, hsa_circ_0001982 is a potential target for early diagnosis and targeted therapy of OS.

RESUMO

Nocardiosis caused by Nocardia seriolae is a major threat to the aquaculture industry. Given that prolonged therapy administration can lead to a growth of antibiotic resistant strains, new antibacterial agents and alternative strategies are urgently needed. In this study, 80 medicinal plants were selected for antibacterial screening to obtain potent bioactive compounds against N. seriolae infection. The methanolic extracts of Magnolia officinalis exhibited the strongest antibacterial activity against N. seriolae with the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 12.5 µg/ml. Honokiol and magnolol as the main bioactive components of M. officinalis showed higher activity with the MIC value of 3.12 and 6.25 µg/ml, respectively. Sequentially, the evaluation of antibacterial activity of honokiol in vivo showed that honokiol had good biosafety, and could significantly reduce the bacterial load of nocardia-infected largemouth bass (p < .001). Furthermore, the survival rate of nocardia-infected fish fed with 100 mg/kg honokiol was obviously improved (p < .05). Collectively, these results suggest that medicinal plants represent a promising reservoir for discovering active components against Nocardia, and honokiol has great potential to be developed as therapeutic agents to control nocardiosis in aquaculture.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Compared with open comminuted calcaneal fractures, less emphasis is placed on postoperative surgical site infection (SSI) of closed comminuted calcaneal fractures. This study aimed to identify the risk factors associated with SSI and build a nomogram model to visualize the risk factors for postoperative SSI. METHODS: We retrospectively collected patients with closed comminuted calcaneal fractures from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University database from 2017 to 2020. Risk factors were identified by logistics regression analysis, and the predictive value of risk factors was evaluated by ROC (receiver operating characteristic curve). Besides, the final risk factors were incorporated into R4.1.2 software to establish a visual nomogram prediction model. RESULTS: The high-fall injury, operative time, prealbumin, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and cystatin-C were independent predictors of SSI in calcaneal fracture patients, with OR values of 5.565 (95%CI 2.220-13.951), 1.044 (95%CI 1.023-1.064), 0.988 (95%CI 0.980-0.995), 1.035 (95%CI 1.004-1.067) and 0.010 (95%CI 0.001-0.185) (Ps < 0.05). Furthermore, ROC curve analysis showed that the AUC values of high-fall injury, operation time, prealbumin, AST, cystatin-C, and their composite indicator for predicting SSI were 0.680 (95%CI 0.593-0.766), 0.756 (95%CI 0.672-939), 0.331 (95%CI 0.243-0.419), 0.605 (95%CI 0.512-0.698), 0.319 (95%CI 0.226-0.413) and 0.860 (95%CI 0.794-0.926), respectively (Ps < 0.05). Moreover, the accuracy of the nomogram to predict SSI risk was 0.860. CONCLUSIONS: Our study findings suggest that clinicians should pay more attention to the preoperative prealbumin, AST, cystatin C, high-fall injury, and operative time for patients with closed comminuting calcaneal fractures to avoid the occurrence of postoperative SSI. Furthermore, our established nomogram to assess the risk of SSI in calcaneal fracture patients yielded good accuracy and can assist clinicians in taking appropriate measures to prevent SSI.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND/PURPOSE: The therapeutic efficacy of percutaneous transluminal angioplasty and stenting (PTAS) of post-irradiated stenosis of subclavian artery (PISSA) was not well clarified. This retrospective study was designed to evaluate the technical safety and outcome of the patients of severe symptomatic PISSA accepted PTAS. METHODS: Between 2000 and 2019, 16 cases with 17 lesions of symptomatic and medically refractory PISSA accepted PTAS were included. We evaluated their technical success, peri-procedural complications and diffusion-weight imaging (DWI) of brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), results of symptom relief, and long-term stent patency. RESULTS: The stenosis of the 17 stenotic lesions were 81.2 ± 11.1%. The most common symptom of the 16 patients was dizziness (14/16, 87.5%). All successfully accepted PTAS without neurological complication and had symptom relief after PTAS (17/17, 100%). Of the 12 patients accepted pre-procedural and early post-procedural MRI follow-up, 2 patients had an asymptomatic tiny acute embolic infarct in the territory of vertebrobasilar system. In a 51.9 ± 54.9 months follow-up, all patients had no severe restenosis and no recurrent vertebrobasilar ischemic symptoms. CONCLUSION: For patients with PISSA and medically refractory ischemic symptoms, PTAS can be an effective alternative management.

RESUMO

Monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), direct bandgap materials with an atomically thin nature, are promising materials for electronics and photonics, especially at highly scaled lateral dimensions. However, the characteristically low total absorption of photons in the monolayer TMD has become a challenge in the access to and realization of monolayer TMD-based high-performance optoelectronic functionalities and devices. Here, we demonstrate gate-tunable plasmonic phototransistors (photoFETs) that consist of monolayer molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) photoFETs integrated with the two-dimensional plasmonic crystals. The plasmonic photoFET has an ultrahigh photoresponsivity of 2.7 × 104 AW-1, achieving a 7.2-fold enhancement in the photocurrent compared to pristine photoFETs. This benefits predominately from the combination of the enhancement of the photon-absorption-rate via the strongly localized-electromagnetic-field and the gate-tunable plasmon-induced photocarrier-generation-rate in the monolayer MoS2. These results demonstrate a systematic methodology for designing ultrathin plasmon-enhanced photodetectors based on monolayer TMDs for next-generation ultracompact optoelectronic devices in the trans-Moore era.

RESUMO

This paper proposes a robust phase unwrapping algorithm (RPUA) for phase unwrapping in the presence of noise and segmented phase. The RPUA method presents a new model of phase derivatives combined with error-correction iterations to achieve an anti-noise effect. Moreover, it bridges the phase islands in the spatial domain using numerical carrier frequency and fringe extrapolation thus eliminating height faults to enable solving segmented phase unwrapping. Numerical simulation and comparison with three conventional methods were performed, proving the high robustness and efficiency of the RPUA. Further, three experiments demonstrated that the RPUA can obtain the unwrapped phase under different noise accurately and possesses the capability to process segmented phases, indicating reliable practicality.

RESUMO

For a conventional Fizeau interferometer, accommodating both anti-vibration and conventional measurement modes is a challenge. Here, a dual-mode Fizeau interferometer (DFI) for dynamic optical measurement is proposed, which retains the conventional measurement mode. A vibration information measurement system is added to the conventional Fizeau interferometer for vibration-phase extraction. To better extract the vibration phase, a four-step phase-tilting iteration algorithm is proposed. The two combined systems separate the vibration information while retaining the Fizeau interferometry accuracy. Simulations and experiments prove that the two DFI modes both can accurately recover the phase. Thus, the DFI has considerable application potential for optical topography measurement.
