RESUMO

The uterine lining (endometrium) regenerates repeatedly over the life span as part of its normal physiology. Substantial portions of the endometrium are shed during childbirth (parturition) and, in some species, menstruation, but the tissue is rapidly rebuilt without scarring, rendering it a powerful model of regeneration in mammals. Nonetheless, following some assaults, including medical procedures and infections, the endometrium fails to regenerate and instead forms scars that may interfere with normal endometrial function and contribute to infertility. Thus, the endometrium provides an exceptional platform to answer a central question of regenerative medicine: Why do some systems regenerate while others scar? Here, we review our current understanding of diverse endometrial disruption events in humans, nonhuman primates, and rodents, and the associated mechanisms of regenerative success and failure. Elucidating the determinants of these disparate repair processes promises insights into fundamental mechanisms of mammalian regeneration with substantial implications for reproductive health.

RESUMO

Endometriosis is a common condition associated with infertility that causes chronic pain in many, but not all, women. It is defined by the presence of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterus. Although the cause and natural history of the disorder remain uncertain, hormonal, neurological, and immunological factors are all implicated in the mechanisms contributing to development of symptoms. Because definitive diagnosis requires surgery, there is often a long diagnostic delay after onset of symptoms. Current interventions for endometriosis have limited efficacy and unacceptable side effects/risks and are associated with high rates of symptom recurrence. Here, we review recent advances in our understanding of the etiology of endometriosis, discuss current diagnostic and treatment strategies, highlight current clinical trials, and consider how recent results offer new avenues for the identification of endometriosis biomarkers and the development of effective non-surgical therapies that are fertility-sparing.

Endometritis is one of the important causes of infertility. Puerarin (PU) can inhibit oxidative stress and reduce inflammation; however, it is unclear whether PU has a protective effect on the endometritis. In our study, we used Staphylococcus aureus to induce mouse endometritis. The PU group (100 mg/kg PU) and the S. aureus + PU group received daily intraperitoneal injection of PU (25, 50 or 100 mg/kg PU). The results showed that S. aureus significantly increased the levels of MPO, TNF-α, IL-1ß and IL-6 in uterine tissue, and increased the expression of p-p65 and p-IκBα proteins in uterine tissue to induce endometritis in mice (p < 0.05). Furthermore, it has been found that S. aureus promotes the occurrence of ferroptosis by reducing GSH and ATP content, increasing MDA and iron content and reducing GPX4 and SLC7A11 protein expression levels (p < 0.05). S. aureus significantly increase the expression of NLRP3, ASC, caspase-1 and P2X7 proteins in uterine tissue (p < 0.05). However, PU obviously reduced the inflammatory response and reversed the changes of ferroptosis and the expression of P2X7 receptor/NLRP3 pathway associated proteins of the uterus induced by S. aureus (p < 0.05). Taken together, these findings emphasize the protective effect of PU on endometritis by regulating the P2X7 receptor/NLRP3 signalling pathway and inhibiting ferroptosis.

BACKGROUND: Endometrial hyperplasia (EH) is a precursor to endometrial cancer, and the role of the microbiome in its development is unclear. RESULTS: The present study investigated the uterine microbiome in patients with benign uterine conditions and endometrial hyperplasia. A significant structural shift in the uterine microbiome of patients with endometrial hyperplasia compared to those with benign conditions was found. Delftia, Serratia and Stenotrophomonas were significantly enriched in endometrial hyperplasia samples and associated with the presence of endometrial hyperplasia. CONCLUSIONS: The novel finding suggested that increased abundance of Delftia, Serratia and Stenotrophomonas is associated with the presence of endometrial hyperplasia. Further investigation is needed to determine the value of these microbes as biomarkers for endometrial hyperplasia.

RESUMO

In this surgical teaching video, we demonstrate the technique of robot-assisted uterine anastomosis combined with low anterior resection in a 27-year-old patient with T2 node-positive rectal cancer. The patient had undergone uterine transposition for fertility preservation prior to upfront chemotherapy and radiation therapy for rectal cancer. In this video, we review the key steps of both surgical procedures. We emphasize robot trocar placement and docking, demonstrate optimal organ manipulation and tissue handling, and include key operative modifications and pearls for successful perioperative management.

The uterine endometrial surface of bovines is in constant exposureconstantly exposed with to a multitude ofmany microbial populations that changes throughout the post-partum phase in terms of complexity and dynamics. These microbes contribute to the host pathology, leading to severe economic losses along withnd reproductive capabilities. The basic primary interface that occurs between the internal tissues of the body of the hostbetween the host body's internal tissues and the microbes is the endometrial surface of the uterus. As a result of the infinite pathogenic population, there is always a danger for the opportunistic organisms to attack. Therefore, it is paramount that any interactions, especially microbial microbes with the endometrial surface, are regulated by the host cells. However, the inflammatory response as the defense mechanism contributes a pivotal roleis pivotal in host immunity and pathology. The inflammatory cascade and pathways are important essential to eliminate this clinical problem. In this review, we will discuss and explain how the inflammation and the various components of the immune system play their role in host pathology and therapeutic strategies, taking into account the interface between the host and the microbes on the surface of the endometrium. This review is also instrumental in further explanation of inflammatory uterine disease by discussing the response of inflammation to external insult.

Endometritis is the inflammation of the endothelial lining of the uterine lumen and is multifactorial in etiology. Escherichia (E.) coli is a Gram-negative bacteria, generally considered as a primary causative agent for bovine endometritis. Bovine endometritis is characterized by the activation of Toll-like receptors (TLRs) by E. coli, which in turn triggers inflammation, oxidative stress, and apoptosis. The objective of this study was to investigate the gene expression of inflammatory, oxidative stress, and apoptotic markers related to endometritis in the uteri of cows. Twenty uterine tissues were collected from the abattoir. Histologically, congestion, edema, hyperemia, and hemorrhagic lesions with massive infiltration of neutrophil and cell necrosis were detected markedly (P < 0.05) in infected uterine samples. Additionally, we identify E. coli using the ybbW gene (177 base pairs; E. coli-specific gene) from infected uterine samples. Moreover, qPCR and western blot results indicated that TLR2, TLR4, proinflammatory mediators, and apoptosis-mediated genes upregulated except Bcl-2, which is antiapoptotic, and there were downregulations of oxidative stress-related genes in the infected uterine tissue. The results of our study suggested that different gene expression regimes related to the immune system reflex were activated in infected uteri. This research gives a novel understanding of active immunological response in bovine endometritis.

AIMS: While epithelioid trophoblastic tumour (ETT) primarily arises from the uterus, cases have been increasingly documented at extrauterine sites, originating from an ectopic gestation or presenting as a metastatic tumour, leading to the major differential diagnosis of somatic carcinoma with trophoblastic differentiation. The precise separation of a gestational trophoblastic tumour from its somatic carcinoma mimics is highly relevant and crucial for patient management and prognosis. METHODS AND RESULTS: We summarise the clinicopathological and molecular features of four challenging epithelioid malignancies presenting at extrauterine sites, with ETT as the main differential diagnosis. All four tumours demonstrated histological and immunohistochemical features overlapping between a somatic carcinoma and an ETT, combined with inconclusive clinical and imaging findings. Serum beta-hCG elevation was documented in two cases. Short tandem repeat (STR) genotyping was performed and was informative in all cases. The presence of a unique paternal allelic pattern in the tumour tissue confirmed the diagnosis of ETT in two cases with an initial consideration of either somatic carcinoma or suspicion of a gestational trophoblastic tumour. The presence of matching genetic profile with the patient's paired normal tissue was seen in two other cases (both initially considered as ETT), confirming their somatic origin, including one metastatic triple-negative breast carcinoma and one primary lung carcinoma. CONCLUSIONS: Diagnostic separation of ETT at an extrauterine site from its somatic carcinoma mimics can be difficult at the histological and immunohistochemical levels. STR genotyping offers a robust ancillary tool that precisely separates ETT from somatic carcinomas with trophoblastic differentiation.

In Brief: Advanced maternal age is associated with a higher rate of pregnancy complications that are unrelated to karyotypic abnormalities of the oocyte. This study shows that the murine uterine stroma undergoes profound epigenetic changes affecting active and repressive histone modification profiles that are associated with impaired endometrial functionality and underpin the decline in reproductive performance of aged females. Abstract: Decidualization describes the transformation of the uterine stroma in response to an implanting embryo, a process critical for supporting the development of the early embryo, for ensuring normal placentation and ultimately for a healthy reproductive outcome. Maternal age has been found to impede the progression of decidualization, heightening the risk of reproductive problems. Here, we set out to comprehensively characterize this deficit by pursuing transcriptomic and epigenomic profiling approaches specifically in the uterine stromal cell (UtSC) compartment of young and aged female mice. We find that UtSCs from aged females are globally far less responsive to the decidualization stimulus triggered by exposure to the steroid hormones estrogen and progesterone. Despite an overall transcriptional hyperactivation of genes that are differentially expressed as a function of maternal age, the hormonally regulated genes specifically fail to be activated in aged UtSCs. Moreover, even in their unstimulated 'ground' state, UtSCs from aged females are epigenetically distinct, as determined by genomic enrichment profiling for the active and repressive histone marks H3K4me3 and H3K9me3, respectively. We find that many hormone-inducible genes exhibit a profound lack of promoter-associated H3K4me3 in aged UtSCs, implying that a significant enrichment of active histone marks prior to gene stimulation is required to enable the elicitation of a rapid transcriptional response. With this combination of criteria, our data highlight specific deficits in epigenetic marking and gene expression of ion channels and vascular markers. These results point to fundamental defects in muscle-related and perivascular niche functions of the uterine stroma with advanced maternal age.

RESEARCH QUESTION: Is there a correlation between various morphological parameters of the uterine niche and post-menstrual spotting using three-dimensional models from thin-slice (1 mm) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)? DESIGN: This study retrospectively identified women diagnosed with a symptomatic niche by thin-slice MRI between December 2019 and December 2021. Univariable and multivariable linear regression models assessed the correlations between morphological parameters and the duration post-menstrual spotting. Morphological differences of the niche formed by one versus two Caesarean sections were analysed by univariable and multivariable logistic analysis. RESULTS: A total of 205 women diagnosed with symptomatic niche were included in the study. The niche among most women with post-menstrual spotting was ellipsoidal, with width greater than length greater than depth, from which niche volume was estimated based on manual measurements (volume = 0.520 × length × width × depth). Manually calculated niche length (ß = 0.257, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.040-0.473, P = 0.020) and radiomically assessed minor axis length (ß = 0.329, 95% CI 0.009-0.795, P = 0.045) both positively correlated with the duration of post-menstrual spotting, whereas the distance between the niche and external os (ß = -0.120, 95% CI -0.202 to -0.038, P = 0.004) was inversely correlated. Women with two Cesarean sections reported more days of post-menstrual spotting (8.76 ± 3.54 versus 6.68 ± 3.90 days, P < 0.001) and had increased niche length diameter (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] 1.304, 95% CI 1.190-1.429) and a smaller surface-area-to-volume ratio (aOR 0.296, 95% CI 0.129-0.680). CONCLUSIONS: Niche-associated post-menstrual spotting correlates with the length diameter of the niche and the distance between the niche and external os. Niches in women after two Caesarean sections tend to be longer in length diameter and more spherical.

Placental site nodules (PSNs) are non-neoplastic remnants of chorionic-type intermediate trophoblastic cells from a previous gestation that form a well-defined single nodule or multiple nodules in the uterine and extrauterine sites. As the cases of PSNs transformed into gestational trophoblastic tumors were described in the literature, "atypical placental site nodules" (APSNs) have been considered as putative transitional lesions between PSNs and gestational trophoblastic tumors. Although histologic criteria and cutoff point of Ki-67 proliferation index for differentiating an APSN from a typical PSN have not been clearly defined, nodules larger than 5 mm with increased cellularity, a corded or nested appearance, marked nuclear atypia, increased mitotic activity, and an increased Ki-67 proliferation index (>5% or >8%) of intermediate trophoblastic cells seem to be accepted as diagnostic criteria for APSNs. However, some of the criteria, including lesion size and histologic features of the trophoblastic cells in the nodule are not only subjective but have features inherent of the intermediate trophoblastic cells of the fetal membrane and a typical PSN. We thought that it is not reasonable to consider them as diagnostic features of APSNs, if not associated with cellular proliferation. We present 2 cases of incidentally identified PSNs that were larger than 10 mm in size with a corded or nested arrangement of trophoblastic cells, which could have been categorized as APSNs according to the currently proposed criteria to discuss whether the currently proposed diagnostic criteria for APSNs are appropriate.

Endometrial stromal tumors represent the second most common category of uterine mesenchymal tumors. Several different histologic variants and underlying genetic alterations have been recognized, one such being a group associated with BCORL1 rearrangements. They are usually high-grade endometrial stromal sarcomas, often associated with prominent myxoid background and aggressive behavior. Here, we report an unusual endometrial stromal neoplasm with JAZF1-BCORL1 rearrangement and briefly review the literature. The neoplasm formed a well-circumscribed uterine mass in a 50-yr-old woman and had an unusual morphologic appearance that did not warrant a high-grade categorization. It was characterized by a predominant population of epithelioid cells with clear to focally eosinophilic cytoplasm growing in interanastomosing cords and trabeculae set in a hyalinized stroma as well as nested and fascicular growths imparting focal resemblance to a uterine tumor resembling ovarian sex-cord tumor, PEComa, and a smooth muscle neoplasm. A minor storiform growth of spindle cells reminiscent of the fibroblastic variant of low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma was also noted but conventional areas of low-grade endometrial stromal neoplasm were not identified. This case expands the spectrum of morphologic features seen in endometrial stromal tumors, especially when associated with a BCORL1 fusion and highlights the utility of immunohistochemical and molecular techniques in the diagnosis of these tumors, not all of which are high grade.

INTRODUCTION: The pathogenesis of pelvic organ prolapse (POP), an age-related disease, has not been fully elucidated. Therapeutic targets of POP are limited. Silencing information regulator 2 related enzyme 1 (SIRT1), a gene considered capable of regulating oxidative stress and cellular senescence, has been widely demonstrated involved in aging and age-related diseases. The present study aimed to explore the role of SIRT1 in POP in vivo and in vitro. METHODS: Expression levels of SIRT1 in uterosacral ligament (USL) tissues from patients with or without POP were measured using immunohistochemical assays. SRT1720, a SIRT1 agonist, was used to upregulate SIRT1, and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) was used to establish an oxidative stress model in human uterosacral ligament fibroblasts (hUSLFs). The effects of SIRT1 on cell viability, apoptosis, senescence, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels were detected, respectively. Western blot assays were used to examine expression levels of apoptosis- and senescence-associated biomarkers. Unpaired Student's t test, Mann-Whitney U test, χ2 test, and one-way ANOVA were performed for determining statistically significant differences. RESULTS: Compared to the control group, expression levels of SIRT1 were downregulated in USL tissues and hUSLFs from patients with POP, and associated with stage (p < 0.05). hUSLFs of patients with POP had lower growth rates (p < 0.0001) than those of the control group, which were improved by upregulating SIRT1 (p < 0.05). The senescent proportion was higher in the POP group than the control group (43.63 ± 10.62% vs. 4.84 ± 5.32%, p < 0.0001), which could be reduced by upregulating SIRT1 (p < 0.0001). High ROS levels in the POP group were also alleviated by SRT1720. H2O2 exposure increased ROS levels, inhibited proliferation, and triggered apoptosis and senescence in hUSLFs of patients without POP in a concentration-dependent manner. Further, these damages were alleviated by pretreatment with SRT1720. CONCLUSIONS: SIRT1 is downregulated in patients with POP, and the development of SIRT1 activators or agonists may have applications in the treatment and prevention of POP through antioxidative stress and antisenescence effects.

BACKGROUND: There is limited data regarding the hazardous effect of gentamicin (GM) on the uterus and whether or not vinpocetine (Vinpo) ameliorates it. The present study aimed to identify the possible protective effect of Vinpo in GM-induced uterine injury in rats. METHODS: Female rats were assorted in control-group, Vinpo-group, GM-group, and Vinpo plus GM group. Serum and uterine GM concentration were measured. Uterine oxidative stress parameters besides inflammatory and apoptotic biomarkers were evaluated. Uterine histopathological examination and interlukin-1beta (IL-1ß) immune-histochemical study were detected. RESULTS: GM significantly increased uterine oxidative stress, inflammatory and apoptotic biomarkers. Histopathological picture of uterine damage and increased IL-1ß immunoexpression were detected. Vinpo significantly ameliorated the distributed GM concentration, oxidative stress, inflammatory and apoptotic biomarkers with a prompt improvement in histopathological picture and a decrease in IL-1ß immunoexpression. CONCLUSION: Vinpo protective effect against GM-induced uterine injury involves modulation of inflammasome/caspase-1/IL-1ß signaling pathway.

BACKGROUND: Uterine leiomyomas are hormone-dependent benign tumors and often begin to shrink after menopause due to the reduction in ovarian steroids. The influence of pregnancy on uterine leiomyomas size remains unclear. Here, we present a case of spontaneous regression of a giant uterine leiomyoma after delivery. CASE PRESENTATION: A 40-year-old woman presented with multiple uterine leiomyomas, one of which is a giant uterine leiomyomas (approximately 8 cm in diameter) that gradually shrinked after delivery. At over two months postpartum, the large myometrial leiomyoma had transformed into a submucosal leiomyoma, and over 3 years postpartum, both the submucosal leiomyoma and multiple intramural leiomyomas completely regressed. CONCLUSION: Spontaneous regression of a giant uterine leiomyom is rare after delivery. Considering uterine leiomyoma regression until over 3 year postpartum,we need to observe the regression of uterine fibroid for a longer time postpartum in the absence of fibroid related complications. In addition, it will provide new insights for treatment options of uterine leiomyomas in the future.

Endometrioid carcinoma with sex cord-like formations and hyalinization of the uterine corpus, or corded and hyalinized endometrioid adenocarcinoma (CHEC), is a rare morphological variant of endometrioid carcinoma, for which there is limited literature and few cases reports. Most researchers tend to consider CHEC as a low-grade cancer with a favorable prognosis. Full-staging surgery is the primary choice for this disease, and no case of CHEC has been previously reported to be treated conservatively. Here, we present the following case to explore the possibility of fertility-preserving treatment for young women with CHEC. A 23-year-old nulliparous patient diagnosed with presumed stage IA CHEC received fertility-sparing treatment at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University and got a complete response (CR) after 10 months of conservative treatment. The patient subsequently became pregnant spontaneously, successfully conceived, and gave birth to a healthy male neonate without any sign of recurrence during 37 months follow-up after CR. The patient's postpartum follow-up is continuing. Presently, CHEC is not included in the fertility-sparing field of any available guidelines. This case indicates that fertility-sparing treatment may be an option for highly selected patients with CHEC. Continuous follow-up remains mandatory to observe long-term outcomes.

OBJECTIVE: The vaginal microbiota dysbiosis induces inflammation in the uterus that triggers tissue damage and is associated with preterm birth. Progesterone is used to prevent labor in pregnant women at risk of preterm birth. However, the mechanism of action of progesterone still needs to be clarified. We aimed to show the immunomodulatory effect of progesterone on the inflammation of uterine tissue triggered by dysbiotic vaginal microbiota in a pregnant mouse model. METHODS: Healthy (n = 6) and dysbiotic (n = 7) vaginal microbiota samples isolated from pregnant women were transferred to control (n = 10) and dysbiotic (n = 14) pregnant mouse groups. The dysbiotic microbiota transferred group was treated with 1 mg progesterone (n = 7). Flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry analyses were used to evaluate inflammatory processes. Vaginal microbiota samples were analyzed by 16 S rRNA sequencing. RESULTS: Vaginal exposure to dysbiotic microbiota resulted in macrophage accumulation in the uterus and cellular damage in the placenta. Even though TNF and IL-6 elevations were not significant after dysbiotic microbiota transplantation, progesterone treatment decreased TNF and IL-6 expressions from 49.085 to 31.274% (p = 0.0313) and 29.279-21.216% (p = 0.0167), respectively. Besides, the macrophage density in the uterus was reduced, and less cellular damage in the placenta was observed. CONCLUSION: Analyzing the vaginal microbiota before or during pregnancy may support the decision for initiation of progesterone therapy. Our results also guide the development of new strategies for preventing preterm birth.

BACKGROUND: Uterine necrosis is a rare condition and is considered a life-threatening complication. However, cases of uterine necrosis were rarely reported, particularly those caused by infection. In terms of treatment, no minimally invasive treatment for uterine necrosis has been reported, and total hysterectomy is mostly considered as the treatment option. OBJECTIVE: The article specifically focuses on minimally invasive treatments and provides a summary of recent cases of uterine necrosis. CASE PRESENTATION: We report the case of a 28-year-old patient gravid 1, para 0 underwent a cesarean section after unsuccessful induction due to fetal death. She presented with recurrent fever and vaginal discharge. The blood inflammation markers were elevated, and a CT scan revealed irregular lumps with low signal intensity in the uterine cavity. The gynecological examination revealed the presence of gray and white soft tissue, approximately 5 cm in length, exuding from the cervix. The secretions were found to contain Fusobacterium necrophorum, Escherichia coli, and Proteus upon culturing. Given the patient's sepsis and uterine necrosis caused by infection, laparoscopic exploration uncovered white pus and necrotic tissue openings in the anterior wall of the uterus. The necrotic tissue was removed during the operation, and the uterus was repaired. Postoperative pathological findings revealed complete degeneration and necrosis of fusiform cell-like tissue. Severe uterine necrosis caused by a multi-drug resistant bacterial infection was considered after the operation. She was treated with antibiotics for three weeks and was discharged after the infection was brought under control. The patient expressed satisfaction with the treatment plan, which preserved her uterus, maintained reproductive function, and minimized the extent of surgery. CONCLUSION: Based on the literature review of uterine necrosis, we found that it presents a potential risk of death, emphasizing the importance of managing the progression of the condition. Most treatment options involve a total hysterectomy. A partial hysterectomy reduces the extent of the operation, preserves fertility function, and can also yield positive outcomes in the treatment of uterine necrosis, serving as a complement to the overall treatment of this condition.

BACKGROUND: Concomitant invasive ovarian mucinous adenocarcinoma, unilateral renal agenesis and bicornuate uterus is a rare combination. Unilateral renal agenesis has been associated with genital anomalies, such as unicornuate and bicornuate uterus. Furthermore, a wealth of studies has reported the association between unicornuate uterus and ovarian anomalies, such as the absence of an ovary or ectopic ovaries, but rarely has there been a combination of the three to the best of our knowledge. The present case report is the first case presentation with a combination of the three syndromes: ovarian mucinous tumor, unilateral renal agenesis, and bicornuate uterus. CASE PRESENTATION: We report the case of a 17-year-old who presented with abdominal distension. On examination, a CT scan revealed a large multicystic abdominal mass on the right side, with an absence of the right kidney while the left kidney was normal in size, appearance, and position. Intraoperatively, massive blood-stained ascitic fluid was evacuated. Additionally, a large whitish polycystic intra-abdominal mass with mucus-like materials and solid areas was attached to the midpoint of the colon and the right ovary, with visible metastasis to the omentum. The uterus was bicornuate. The mass and omentum were taken for histopathology and a diagnosis of invasive ovarian mucinous cystadenocarcinoma with metastasis to the colon and omentum was made after a pathological report. CONCLUSIONS: The presence of these conditions in the same individual could potentially complicate medical management and fertility considerations. Thus, a need for a multidisciplinary medical team, including gynecologists, urologists, and oncologists, to address their unique needs and provide appropriate treatment and guidance. Further research and case studies are needed to better understand the possible association and implications of these rare co-occurring conditions.

OBJECTIVES: To explore clinical value of miRNA-18a, miRNA-130a, and miRNA-92a combined with transvaginal color Doppler ultrasound (TVCDS) in the diagnosis of cervical cancer (CC). METHODS: One hundred patients with pathologically confirmed CC (CC group), 100 patients with cervical epithelial neoplasia (disease group), and 100 patients with benign uterine lesions (control group) were selected. TVCDS was performed, and the levels of serum miRNA-18a, miRNA-130a, and miRNA-92a were detected. RESULTS: The systolic blood velocity of the cancer group, the disease group, and the control group decreased sequentially, while the resistance index and pulsatility index increased sequentially. The serum miR-18a, miR-130a, miR-92a, and expression levels of the patients' increased sequentially. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that age, high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) infection, menopause, blood flow RI, serum miRNA-18a, miRNA-92a, and miRNA-130a were the influencing factors of CC. The receiver operating characteristic curve showed that the sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and area under curve of transvaginal Doppler ultrasound in the diagnosis of CC were 86.43%, 88.01%, 84.32%, and 0.913; serum miR-18a were, respectively, 76.56, 81.30, 80.36, and 0.839; serum miR-130a were 77.88%, 76.97%, 78.32%, and 0.0.864; serum miR-92a were 71.04%, 80.39%, 80.74%, and 0.894; 90.33%, 95.14%, 91.25%, and 0.947, the area under curve of the combined detection of the 3 was greater than that of the single detection. CONCLUSIONS: Serum miRNA combined with TVCDS has the advantages of it being noninvasive, and having high sensitivity and high specificity in the diagnosis of CC.
