RESUMO

The magneto-optical response of chiral materials holds significant potential for applications in physics, chemistry, and biology. However, exploration of the near-infrared (NIR) magneto-optical response remains limited. Herein, we report the synthesis and strong NIR-II magneto-optical activity of three pairs of chiral 3d-4f clusters of R/S-Ln15Cu54 (Ln = Sm, Gd, and Dy). Structural analysis reveals that R/S-Ln15Cu54 features a triangular prism cage with C3 symmetry. Interestingly, magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) spectra exhibit remarkable magneto-optical response in the NIR-II region, driven by the f-f transition. The maximum g-factor of R/S-Sm15Cu54 reaches 5.5 × 10-3 T-1 around 1300-1450 nm, surpassing values associated with DyIII and CuII ions. This remarkable NIR-II magneto-optical activity may be attributed to strong magnetic-dipole-allowed f-f transitions and helix chirality of the structure. This work not only presents the largest Ln-Cu clusters to date but also demonstrate the key role of magnetic-dipole-allowed transitions on magneto-optical activity.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Mothers play a crucial role in influencing their daughters' HPV vaccination decisions. Addressing barriers to receiving HPV vaccination among mothers of girls may achieve two goals in one strike: increasing vaccination coverage among both mothers and their daughters. This study aims to examine the HPV vaccination uptake and its determinants among mothers of girls in China at both the individual and interpersonal levels. METHODS: From July to October 2023, a cross-sectional online study was conducted to investigate HPV vaccine refusal for daughters aged 9-17 years among 11,678 mothers in Shenzhen, China. A randomized selection method was employed, targeting 11 primary schools and 13 secondary schools in Shenzhen. The research team invited mothers of girls to participate in an anonymous online survey. Multilevel logistic regression models (level 1: schools; level 2: individual participants) were employed to analyze the data. RESULTS: Among 11,678 mothers, 41.1% self-reported receiving at least one dose of HPV vaccination. Through multilevel logistic regression analysis, eight items measuring illness representations of HPV, which refers to how people think about HPV, were associated with higher HPV vaccination uptake (AOR: 1.02-1.14). These items included identity (identifying symptoms of HPV), timeline (whether HPV is acute/chronic), negative consequences, personal and treatment control (whether HPV is under volitional control), concern, negative emotions, and coherence (overall understanding of HPV). In addition, participants refusing HPV vaccines for the index daughters (AOR: 0.82, 95%CI: 0.76, 0.89) had lower vaccine uptake. Perceived more difficulties in accessing the 9-valent vaccines (AOR: 1.06, 95%CI: 1.04, 1.08) and more satisfaction with vaccine-related promotional materials (AOR: 1.50, 95%CI: 1.46, 1.54) at the individual level were associated with higher vaccine uptake. At the interpersonal factors, higher frequency of exposure to testimonials given by others about HPV vaccination on social media (AOR: 1.19, 95%CI: 1.14, 1.25) and thoughtful consideration of the veracity of the information (AOR: 1.11, 95%CI: 1.07, 1.16) were correlated with higher HPV vaccination uptake. CONCLUSIONS: These findings offer essential implications for modifying HPV disease perceptions, addressing difficulties in accessing the 9-valent HPV vaccines, and enhancing health communication needs to improve HPV vaccine uptake among mothers of girls.

RESUMO

Atomically precise metal clusters serve as a unique model for unraveling the intricate mechanism of the catalytic reaction and exploring the complex relationship between structure and activity. Herein, three series of water-soluble heterometallic clusters LnCu6, abbreviated as LnCu6-AC (Ln = La, Nd, Gd, Er, Yb; HAC = acetic acid), LnCu6-IM (Ln = La and Nd; IM = Imidazole), and LnCu6-IDA (Ln = Nd; H2IDA = Iminodiacetic acid) are presented, each featuring a uniform metallic core stabilized by distinct protected ligands. Crystal structure analysis reveals a triangular prism topology formed by six Cu2+ ions around one Ln3+ ion in LnCu6, with variations in Cu···Cu distances attributed to different ligands. Electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) shows that these different LnCu6 clusters exhibit different OER activities with remarkable turnover frequency of 135 s-1 for NdCu6-AC, 79 s-1 for NdCu6-IM and 32 s-1 for NdCu6-IDA. Structural analysis and Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations underscore the correlation between shorter Cu···Cu distances and improves OER catalytic activity, emphasizing the pivotal role of active-site distance in regulating electrocatalytic OER activities. These results provide valuable insights into the OER mechanism and contribute to the design of efficient homogeneous OER electrocatalysts.

RESUMO

Safety problems caused by organophosphorus pesticide (OP) residues are constantly occurring, so the development of new methods for the degradation and detection of OPs is of great scientific significance. In the present study, ß-sheet peptides and ß-hairpin peptides for catalyzing the hydrolysis of OPs were designed and synthesized. The peptide sequences with the highest hydrolytic activity (EHSGGVTVDPPLTVEHSAG) were screened by investigating the effect of the location of the active sites of the peptide and the peptide's structure on the degradation of OPs. In addition, the relationship between the peptides' conformation and hydrolytic activity was further analyzed based on density functional theory calculations. The noncovalent interactions of the peptides with the OPs and the electrostatic potential on the molecular surface and molecular docking properties were also investigated. It was found that peptides with approximate active amino acids consisting of the catalytic triad and with the hairpin structure had enhanced hydrolytic activity toward the hydrolysis of OPs. To develop an electrochemical sensor technique to detect OPs, the conductive MXene (Ti3C2) material was first immobilized with a caffeic acid monolayer via enediol-metal complex chemistry and then bound with the ß-hairpin peptide (EHSGGVTVDPPLTVEHSAG) via carboxy-amine condensation chemistry between the -COOH of caffeic acid and the -NH2 of the peptide to prepare a MXene-peptide composite. Then, the prepared composite was modified on the surface of a glassy carbon electrode to construct an electrochemical sensor for the detection of OPs. The developed technique could be used to monitor OPs within 15 min with a two orders of linear working range and with a detection limit of 0.15 µM. Meanwhile, the sensor showed good reliability for the detection of OPs in real vegetables.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Nearly all patients with hip fractures undergo surgical treatment. The use of different anesthesia techniques during surgery may influence the clinical outcomes. The optimal anesthetic technique for patients undergoing hip fracture surgery is still controversial. We performed this updated systematic review and meta-analysis to compare clinical outcomes of patients undergoing hip fracture surgery with different anesthesia techniques. SOURCE: Articles published from 2000 to May 2023 were included from MEDLINE, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library. We included randomized controlled trials and observational studies comparing general anesthesia (GA) with regional anesthesia (RA) for the outcomes of 30-day mortality, 90-day mortality, in-hospital mortality, perioperative complications, length of hospital stay, and length of surgery in patients undergoing hip fracture surgery. Subgroup analyses were performed for the outcomes based on study design (randomized controlled trials or observational studies). We used a random-effects model for all analyses. PRINCIPAL FINDINGS: In this meta-analysis, we included 12 randomized controlled trials. There was no difference in postoperative 30-day mortality between the two groups (odds ratio [OR], 0.88; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.44 to 1.74; I2 = 0%). The incidence of intraoperative hypotension was lower in patients who received RA vs GA (OR, 0.52; 95% CI, 0.38 to 0.72; I2 = 0%). No significant differences were observed in 90-day mortality, in-hospital mortality, postoperative delirium, pneumonia, myocardial infarction, venous thromboembolism, length of surgery, and length of hospital stay. CONCLUSION: In this updated systematic review and meta-analysis, RA did not reduce postoperative 30-day mortality in hip fracture surgery patients compared to GA. Fewer patients receiving RA had intraoperative hypotension than those receiving GA did. Apart from intraoperative hypotension, the data showed no differences in complications between the two anesthetic techniques. STUDY REGISTRATION: PROSPERO (CRD42023411854); registered 7 April 2023.

PURPOSE: This study aimed to quantify and evaluate morphology of intervertebral space between neighboring cervical units using radiographic imaging indices, to help spine surgeons when performing anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) surgery on the Chinese population. METHODS: The background and imaging parameters of the subjects were assessed. Cervical lateral radiographs were employed to measure the intervertebral height (IH), intervertebral height index (IHI), and segmental lordosis (SL). Endplate parameters measurements were conducted on sagittal T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), including endplate sagittal diameter (ESD), and endplate concavity depth (ECD). All individuals were divided into three age groups: individuals aged 20-35 were in group A, individuals aged 36-50 were in group B, and individuals aged over 50 were in group C. A comparison of the variables was conducted among the three groups. Additionally, these radiographic parameters were also compared between males and females. RESULTS: A total of 102 individuals were included in this study. IH was greater at C6/7 than those at other segmental levels (p < 0.001). The largest SL values were found at C6/7, while the least were found at C3/4. The superior ESD (ESDs) and ECD (ECDs) of the intervertebral space were significantly greater than those of the inferior endplates (p < 0.05). The ESD and ECD values were the largest at C6/7, while the least at C3/4. Additionally, age and gender had an influence on several parameters. IH was significantly lower in group A compared to group B (p < 0.05) and group C (p < 0.05) from C3/4 level to C6/7 level. ECDs were lower in group A compared to group B (p < 0.05) and group C (p < 0.05) at each level. IH and ESD in males were generally significantly greater than those in females at all levels (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The current study found that C6/7 had the greatest IH, SL, ESD, and ECD values in asymptomatic Chinese. SL gradually increased from C3/4 to C6/7 levels. IH and ECD were significantly associated with age. Males had greater IH and ESD values than females. These findings provide baseline information for planning for selection of anterior screws and intervertebral implants.

RESUMO

In rectal cancer treatment, the diagnosis and management of lateral pelvic lymph nodes (LLN) are critical for preventing local recurrence. Over time, scholars have reached a consensus: when imaging suggests LLN metastasis, combining neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) with selective LLN dissection (LLND) can mitigate the risk of recurrence. Selective LLND typically encompasses lymph nodes in the internal iliac and obturator regions. Recent studies emphasize distinctions between internal iliac and obturator lymph nodes regarding prognosis and treatment outcomes, prompting the need for differentiated diagnostic and treatment approaches.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the changes of plantar pressure in amateur marathon runners with flexor halluics longus (FHL) tendon injury using the Medtrack-Gait plantar pressure measurement system, and to explore whether the plantar pressure data can be used as an index for the diagnosis of injury. METHODS: A total of 39 healthy amateur marathon runners without any ankle joint symptoms were recruited. Dynamic and static plantar pressure data were measured using the pressure plate of Medtrack-Gait. According to MRI imaging findings, whether the FHL tendon was injured or not was judged, and the dynamic and static data were divided into the injury group and control group. The data with statistically significant differences between the two groups were used to make the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. RESULT: The maximum contact area (PA) of the first metatarsal(M1) region, the maximum load-bearing peak value (PW) and the time pressure integral (PMPTI) of the second metatarsal(M2) region in the injury group were lower than those in the control group, respectively (P < 0.05). The maximum contact area (PA) of the fifth metatarsal(M5) region was higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05). The area under curve (AUC) value of the ROC curve of the PA of M1 region, the PW and PMPTI of M2 region were statistically (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: FHL tendon injury resulted in decreased PA in M1, decreased PW and PMPTI in M2, and increased PA in the M5 region, suggesting that FHL tendon injury resulted in a force shift from the medial to the lateral side of the foot. The PA of M1, PW and PMPTI of M2 have certain diagnostic value for early FHL injury in amateur marathon runners.

RESUMO

Formamidine lead iodide (FAPbI3 ) is an important material for realizing high-performance near-infrared light-emitting diodes (NIR-LEDs). However, due to the uncontrollable growth of solution-processed films which usually causes low coverage, and poor surface morphology, the development of FAPbI3 -based NIR-LEDs is hindered, restraining its potential industrial applications. In this work, by employing glutamine (Gln) in perovskite precursor, the quality of FAPbI3 film is improved significantly. Due to the ameliorated solution process by the organic additive, the film coverage over the substrate is substantially enhanced. Meanwhile, the trap state of grain is largely reduced. Consequently, NIR perovskite LEDs are demonstrated with a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 15% with the emission peak at 795 nm, which is four times higher than the device with pristine perovskite film.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Vitiligo has been correlated with an abnormal gut microbiota. We aimed to systematically identify characteristics of the gut microbial compositions, genetic functions, and potential metabolic features in patients with non-segmental vitiligo. METHODS: Twenty-five patients with non-segmental vitiligo and 25 matched healthy controls (HCs) were enrolled. Metagenomic sequencing and bioinformatic analysis were performed to determine the gut microbiota profiles. Differences in gut microbiota diversity and composition between patients with vitiligo and HCs were analyzed. Gene functions and gut metabolic modules were predicted with the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Gene and Genomes (KEGG) and MetaCyc databases. RESULTS: Compared with HCs, alpha diversity of intestinal microbiome in vitiligo patients was significantly reduced. At the species level, the relative abundance of Staphylococcus thermophiles was decreased, and that of Bacteroides fragilis was increased in patients with vitiligo compared with those of the HCs. Linear discriminant analysis (LDA) effect size (LEfSe) analysis revealed representative microbial markers of Lachnospiraceae_bacterium_BX3, Massilioclostridium_coli, TM7_phylum_sp_oral_taxon_348 and Bacteroides_fragilis for patients with vitiligo. KEGG gene function analysis showed that the NOD-like receptor signaling pathway was significantly enriched in patients with vitiligo. Gut metabolic modules (GMMs) analysis showed that cysteine degradation was significantly down-regulated, and galactose degradation was up-regulated in patients with vitiligo. A panel of 28 microbial features was constructed to distinguish patients with vitiligo from HCs. CONCLUSIONS: The gut microbial profiles and genetic functions of patients with vitiligo were distinct from those of the HCs. The identified gut microbial markers may potentially be used for earlier diagnosis and treatment targets.

RESUMO

Computation of hypervolume under ROC manifold (HUM) is necessary to evaluate biomarkers for their capability to discriminate among multiple disease types or diagnostic groups. However the original definition of HUM involves multiple integration and thus a medical investigation for multi-class receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis could suffer from huge computational cost when the formula is implemented naively. We introduce a novel graph-based approach to compute HUM efficiently in this article. The computational method avoids the time-consuming multiple summation when sample size or the number of categories is large. We conduct extensive simulation studies to demonstrate the improvement of our method over existing R packages. We apply our method to two real biomedical data sets to illustrate its application.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: The methods of reduction of depressed posterolateral fragments in tibial plateau fracture through anterolateral approaches remain controversial. This paper aimed to compare the intraarticular osteotomy technique and the "window" osteotomy technique for the reduction of depressed posterolateral fragments through anterolateral approach. METHOD: From January 2015 to January 2022, we retrospectively reviewed the data on patients with tibial plateau fracture involving depressed posterolateral fragments treated with the intraarticular osteotomy or the "window" osteotomy. 40 patients underwent the intraarticular osteotomy were divided into group A, while 36 patients underwent the "window" osteotomy were divided into group B. The operative time, bone grafting volume, fracture healing time, complication, reduction quality and postoperative functional results were compared between the two groups. RESULTS: The average follow-up duration was 16.6 ± 3.7 months. The average bone grafting volume for all patients in group B was essential larger than group A (p = 0.001). Compared to group B, patients in groups A had significantly shorter fracture healing time (p = 0.011). The depth of depressed articular surface, PSA and the radiographic evaluation at 2 days and 6 months after surgery in group A were significantly lower than group B (p<0.05). Based on the HSS knee-rating score, no significant difference in function results was found between the two groups (p>0.05). No significant difference was found in operation time and blood loss between the two groups (p>0.05). CONCLUSION: The intraarticular osteotomy could obtain satisfactory clinical results in tibial plateau fracture involving posterolateral fragments.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Buttock pressure injuries can be difficult to treat. There are many choices of flaps to reconstruct these wounds, but few are large, technically simple, and easily recycled. AIM AND OBJECTIVE: We are presenting our experience on surgical reconstruction of buttock pressure injuries using large whole-buttock fasciocutaneous flaps that are easily designed for ulcers regardless of location and size and are easily recycled for treatment of recurrences. MATERIAL AND METHODS: We conducted a retrospective review of all patients who received reconstruction with fasciocutaneous rotational flaps for buttock region pressure injuries from January 2013 to December 2018. The key steps of this one-size-fits-all flap include elevation of a large, oversized flap to achieve tension-free closure, avoiding fascial incisions over bony prominences, placing the V-Y type closure wound in the posteromedial thigh, and the use of closed incisional negative wound therapy postoperatively. RESULTS: Fifty patients underwent 54 flaps reconstruction for coverage of stage 4 gluteal pressure injuries between January 2013 and December 2018. Seventy-four percent healed without the need for further operation. The average size of the defect was 90 cm2 (maximum = 300 cm2). The average follow-up period was 31 months. Four of the 54 flaps were "recycled" flaps, 3 were performed for the coverage of recurrent ulcers and 1 flap was performed for treatment of a postoperative wound dehiscence. CONCLUSIONS: We recommend this simple, one-size-fits-all approach, whole-buttock fasciocutaneous flap when surgically treating gluteal pressure injuries for selected patients.

RESUMO

Optical cameras equipped with an underwater scooter can perform efficient shallow marine mapping. In this paper, an underwater image stitching method is proposed for detailed large scene awareness based on a scooter-borne camera, including preprocessing, image registration and post-processing. An underwater image enhancement algorithm based on the inherent underwater optical attenuation characteristics and dark channel prior algorithm is presented to improve underwater feature matching. Furthermore, an optimal seam algorithm is utilized to generate a shape-preserving seam-line in the superpixel-restricted area. The experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method for different underwater environments and the ability to generate natural underwater mosaics with few artifacts or visible seams.

RESUMO

Here, we report the molecular self-assembly of hydroxido-bridged {Ln5Ni6} ((Ln3+ = Dy3+, Y3+) metal clusters by the reaction of enantiopure chiral ligands, namely, (R/S)-(2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzyl)-serine), with NiII and LnIII precursors. Single-crystal diffraction analysis reveals that these compounds are isostructural sandwich-like 3d-4f heterometallic clusters showing helical chirality. Direct current magnetic measurements on {Dy5Ni6} indicates ferromagnetic coupling between DyIII and NiII centers, whereas those on {Y5Ni6} denote that the NiII centers are antiferromagnetically coupled and/or magnetically anisotropic. Magneto-chiral dichroism (MChD) measurements on {Dy5Ni6} and its comparison to that of {Y5Ni6} provide the first experimental observation of intense multimetal site MChD signals in the visible-near-infrared region. Moreover, the comparison of MChD with natural and magnetic circular dichroism spectra unambiguously demonstrate for the first time that the MChD signals associated with the NiII d-d transitions are mostly driven by natural optical activity and those associated with the DyIII f-f transitions are driven by magnetic optical activity.

RESUMO

Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a complex pathological change that includes primary SCI and gradually evolves into secondary SCI. Accumulating evidence demonstrates that circular RNAs (circRNAs) are involved in the pathology of a variety of neurological diseases and injuries. However, the characteristics and function of circRNAs in SCI have yet to be elucidated. Although previous research demonstrated that circPrkcsh induces astrocytes to produce inflammatory factors and chemokines, the precise function and mechanism of circPrkcsh in microglia after SCI remains unknown. In this study, we constructed a mouse model of SCI by applying a SCI impactor. Quantitative Real-time PCR and Fluorescence in situ hybridization analysis revealed that circPrkcsh was upregulated in the microglia of SCI mice when compared to sham-operated mice. Gain- or loss-of-function experiments and in vivo assays further indicated that circPrkcsh promotes microglia M1 polarization both in vivo and in vitro. Furthermore, bioinformatics analysis, dual-luciferase assays, and RNA immunoprecipitation assays, confirmed that circPrkcsh serves as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) to promote the expression of MEKK1 mRNA by sponging miR-488. Double knockout rescue experiments further showed that circPrkcsh regulates the MEKK1/JNK/p38 MAPK pathway via miR-488. Our research provides a better understanding of the mechanism of circPrkcsh in SCI and demonstrates that the circPrkcsh/miR-488/Mekk1 axis is a promising regulatory method for the treatment of SCI.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Intermittent hypoxia (IH), a hallmark of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), compromises immune surveillance through the upregulation of programmed cell death-1 ligand (PD-L1). Tumor-released extracellular vesicles (EVs) have been reported to modulate immunosuppressive activities. We investigated whether or not EVs derived from intermittent hypoxic lung cancer cells can alter the expression of PD-L1 in macrophages. METHODS: The expression of PD-L1+monocytes from 40 patients with newly diagnosed non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and with (n=21) or without (n=19) OSA were detected. Plasma EVs isolated from NSCLC patients with moderate-severe OSA (n=4) and without OSA (n=4) were co-cultured with macrophages. A549 cells were exposed to normoxia or IH (48 cycles of 5 min of 1% O2 hypoxia, followed by 5 min of normoxia). EVs were isolated from cell supernatant and were co-cultured with macrophages differentiated from THP-1. PD-L1 and hypoxia-inducible factor-1 α (HIF-1α) expressions were measured by flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, and Western blot analysis. RESULTS: PD-L1+monocytes were elevated in NSCLC patients with OSA and increased with the severity of OSA and nocturnal desaturation. PD-L1+ macrophages were induced by EVs from NSCLC patients with OSA and positively correlated with HIF-1α expressions. EVs from IH-treated A549 can promote PD-L1 and HIF-1α expression in macrophages and the upregulation of PD-L1 expression was reversed by specific HIF-1α inhibitor. CONCLUSION: IH can enhance the function of EVs derived from lung cancer cells to aggravate immunosuppressive status in macrophages. HIF-1α may play an important role in this process.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Cryptorchidism is the most common congenital defect in children's genitourinary system. Decades of research have identified both environmental and genetic factors contribute to the etiology. METHODS: Small-RNA/mRNA-seq were performed on testicular tissues from cryptorchidism patients. Downstream analysis included mRNA expression, piRNA expression and miRNA expression. RESULTS: We find a global downregulation of repeated element related piRNA expression as well as a global 3'UTR shortening of mRNAs in patients with cryptorchidism. We also find that genes with shortened 3'UTR which are highly enriched in vascular endothelial growth and protein ubiquitination, tend to be up-regulated in cryptorchidism. These results indicate that boys with cryptorchidism may not have normal piRNA functions to protect developmental tissues from transposon invasion. Dysregulated shortened 3'UTR genes may affect normal testicular tissue development. CONCLUSION: In summary, our findings also provided the first landscape of gene regulation in cryptorchidism, especially in terms of post-transcriptional regulations.

RESUMO

With the development of modern industry, small UAVs have been widely used in agriculture, mapping, meteorology, and other fields. There is an increasing demand for the core attitude-solving algorithm of UAV flight control. In this paper, at first, a novel attitude solving algorithm is proposed by using quaternions to represent the attitude matrix and using Allan variance to analyze the gyroscope error and to quantify the trend of the error over time, so as to improve the traditional Mahony complementary filtering. Simulation results show that the six-axis data from the initial sensors (gyroscope and accelerometer) agree well with the measured nine-axis data with an extra magnetometer, which reduces the complexity of the system hardware. Second, based on the hardware platform, the six-axis data collected from MPU6050 are sent to FPGA for floating-point operation, transcendental function operation, and attitude solution module for processing through IIC communication, which effectively validates the attitude solution by using the proposed method. Finally, the proposed algorithm is applied to a practical scenario of a quadrotor UAV, and the test results show that the RMSE does not exceed 2° compared with the extended Kalman filter method. The proposed system simplifies the hardware but keeps the accuracy and speed of the solution, which may result in application in UAV flight control.

RESUMO

Dongli, or frozen pear, is a traditional Chinese snack with a unique flavor. This study identified the aroma-active volatile compounds (VOCs) in Dongli using quantitative descriptive analysis (QDA), gas chromatography-triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS), and gas chromatography-olfactometry (GC-O). QDA indicated that Dongli of all cultivars presented increased sweet and wine aromas. A total of 21 VOCs were identified by GC-MS/MS. Bidirectional orthogonal partial least square (O2PLS) analysis, GC-O analysis, detection frequency analysis (DFA), and relative odor activity values (ROAV) showed that: estragole and anethole contributing "anise, green" aromas were the key aromatic VOCs of fresh pears, while ethyl butanoate, butyl acetate, heptyl acetate, benzaldehyde, and geranyl acetone contributing "sweet, fruity, green" aromas were the key aromatic VOCs of Dongli. The results revealed that the repeated freezing treatment promoted a unique aroma in pears. This study would contribute to developing new pear products.
