RESUMO

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a common neurodegenerative disorder that is affecting an increasing number of older adults. Although PD is mostly sporadic, genetic mutations have been found in cohorts of families with a history of familial PD (FPD). The first such mutation linked to FPD causes a point mutation (A53T) in α-synuclein (α-syn), a major component of Lewy bodies, which are a classical pathological hallmark of PD. These findings suggest that α-syn is an important contributor to the development of PD. In our previous study, we developed an adenoviral mouse model of PD and showed that the expression of wild-type (WT) α-syn or a mutant form with an increased propensity to aggregate, designated as WT-CL1 α-syn, could be used to study how α-syn aggregation contributes to PD. In this study, we established a transgenic mouse model that conditionally expresses WT or WT-CL1 α-syn in dopaminergic (DA) neurons and found that the expression of either WT or WT-CL1 α-syn was associated with an age-dependent degeneration of DA neurons and movement dysfunction. Using this model, we were able to monitor the process of α-syn aggregate formation and found a correlation between age and the number and sizes of α-syn aggregates formed. These results provide a potential mechanism by which age-dependent α-syn aggregation may lead to the formation of Lewy bodies in PD pathogenesis.

The deleterious effects of diabetes mellitus on wound healing have become a major public health concern worldwide. Given the complex microenvironment of diabetic wounds and the high prevalence of diabetes, the design and development of novel wound dressing materials with versatile capabilities is urgent. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from human umbilical cord blood have demonstrated the potential to counter inflammation and accelerate wound healing. Herein, we explored the efficacy of incorporating human umbilical cord blood-derived exosomes (UCB-Exos) into an ABA-type amphiphilic hydrogel, which possesses the attributes of exosome (Exo) encapsulation, temperature-triggered reversible sol-gel conversion, and Exo-regulated release, for enhancing the stability and retention of Exos. We sought to examine the feasibility of this strategy in augmenting the therapeutic efficacy of UCB-Exos for the healing of diabetes-related wounds. The injectable hydrogel was conveniently applied directly onto the wound surface and the enclosed Exo significantly facilitated the healing process, resulting in faster wound closure, enhanced collagen deposition, accelerated re-epithelialization, and enhanced neo-vascularization within two weeks compared with the hydrogel-only treatment group. In summary, some hydrogels hold great promise for promoting wound healing in diabetics and represent a novel therapeutic option for diabetes-related ulcers.

Cavity optomagnonics has received considerable research interest in recent years, due to the coherent magnetic Brillioun light scattering in the ferromagnetic material. Here, we theoretically propose and numerically verify a feasible scheme for the full polarization tomography on photon statistics in an optomagnonic whispering-gallery-mode microresonator system in the weak-coupling regime. By performing the polarization pre- and post-selections to manipulate the polarization states of the input and output photons, we find that the rich sub- and super-Poissonian photon statistics can be selectively generated, thanks to quantum interferences. In the parameter space of phase delay, the evolution from photon bunching to antibunching indicates the change from phase to amplitude squeezing. Our obtained result has potential applications in tunable quantum polarized light sources based on the cavity optomagnonic platform in micro-nano scale. It also offers a deeper understanding for full quantum cavity optomagnonics.

BACKGROUND: Although trimodality therapy resecting tumours followed by chemoradiotherapy is emerged for muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC), chemotherapy produces toxicities. Histone deacetylase inhibitors have been identified as an effective strategy to enhance cancer radiotherapy (RT). METHODS: We examined the role of HDAC6 and specific inhibition of HDAC6 on BC radiosensitivity by performing transcriptomic analysis and mechanism study. RESULTS: HDAC6 knockdown or HDAC6 inhibitor (HDAC6i) tubacin exerted a radiosensitizing effect, including decreased clonogenic survival, increased H3K9ac and α-tubulin acetylation, and accumulated γH2AX, which are similar to the effect of panobinostat, a pan-HDACi, on irradiated BC cells. Transcriptomics of shHDAC6-transduced T24 under irradiation showed that shHDAC6 counteracted RT-induced mRNA expression of CXCL1, SERPINE1, SDC1 and SDC2, which are linked to cell migration, angiogenesis and metastasis. Moreover, tubacin significantly suppressed RT-induced CXCL1 and radiation-enhanced invasion/migration, whereas panobinostat elevated RT-induced CXCL1 expression and invasion/migration abilities. This phenotype was significantly abrogated by anti-CXCL1 antibody, indicating the key regulator of CXCL1 contributing to BC malignancy. Immunohistochemical evaluation of tumours from urothelial carcinoma patients supported the correlation between high CXCL1 expression and reduced survival. CONCLUSION: Unlike pan-HDACi, the selective HDAC6i can enhance BC radiosensitization and effectively inhibit RT-induced oncogenic CXCL1-Snail-signalling, thus further advancing its therapeutic potential with RT.

Myocardial infarction (MI) is one of the cardiovascular diseases with high morbidity and mortality. MI causes large amounts of apoptotic and necrotic cells that need to be efficiently and instantly engulfed by macrophage to avoid second necrosis. Phagocytic macrophages can dampen or resolve inflammation to protect infarcted heart. Phagocytosis of macrophages is modulated by various factors including proteins, receptors, lncRNA and cytokines. A better understanding of mechanisms in phagocytosis will be beneficial to regulate macrophage phagocytosis capability towards a desired direction in cardioprotection after MI. In this review, we describe the phagocytosis effect of macrophages and summarize the latest reported signals regulating phagocytosis after MI, which will provide a new thinking about phagocytosis-dependent cardiac protection after MI.

ABSTRACT: Long noncoding RNAs and microRNAs (miRNAs) are emerging biomarkers involved in human diseases, and we focused on the roles of long noncoding RNA taurine upregulated gene 1 (TUG1) and miR-30b-3p in the related mechanisms of atherosclerosis-induced myocardial injury. ApoE-deficient mice were fed with high-fat diet to establish atherosclerotic models and then were subjected to either TUG1 downregulation or miR-30b-3p upregulation treatment. The serum myocardial enzymes, inflammatory biomarkers, pathological changes, intramyocardial macrophage infiltration, and apoptosis of cardiomyocytes in atherosclerotic mice were determined. The expression of TUG1, miR-30b-3p, and bromodomain protein 4 (Brd4) in atherosclerotic models was evaluated. Moreover, the correlations of TUG1, miR-30b-3p, and Brd4 were verified. TUG1 and Brd4 were increased while miR-30b-3p was decreased in atherosclerotic mice. The silenced TUG1 or elevated miR-30b-3p attenuated atherosclerosis-induced myocardial injury mainly by reducing serum myocardial enzyme content and inflammatory response, improving pathological changes, and preventing macrophage infiltration and cardiomyocyte apoptosis in atherosclerotic mice. Mechanistically, TUG1 could competitively bind with miR-30b-3p to prevent the degradation of its target gene Brd4. This study reveals that the silencing of TUG1 ameliorates atherosclerosis-induced myocardial injury by upregulating miR-30b-3p and downregulating Brd4, which may provide novel targets for atherosclerosis treatment.

A 54-year-old underwent brachiocephalic arteriovenous fistula placement. Following maturation of the access, consistent cannulation for routine hemodialysis was challenging for clinical specialists. A three-dimensional intraluminal access model was generated, but clinical specialists adept at cannulation had difficulty orienting the model to the patient's anatomy without repeat supervision. When provided the model prima facie, 50% (4/8) clinical specialists were not able to spatially orient the model appropriately in the x-axis with respect to the coronal plane (2/8) or in the z-axis with respect to the transverse plane (2/8). Spatial renderings of the subcutaneous volume available for cannulation were then printed and physically applied to the vascular access model resulting in appropriate spatial orientation among all clinical specialists (n = 12) that were presented the models for the first time. Mean Kt/V increased during the 3-month period directly following model introduction. This case demonstrates the potential utility of 3D-modeling to readily visualize the subcutaneous volume of a hemodialysis vascular access and reduce cannulation error.

BACKGROUND: Demodex mites are related to some inflammatory diseases such as rosacea and blepharitis and could be harmful in patients with immunodeficiency or immunosuppression, especially notable in patients using biologic like dupilumab. In order to have an objective observation of different anti-Demodex strategies, we conducted this study, based on interventional clinical evidence with quantified Demodex mite data. METHODS: We used the PubMed, Embase, ClinicalTrials.gov, Medline, and International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (ICTRP) as databases. To assess the risk of bias, the RoB2 and ROBINS-I tools were used. The certainty of evidence was assessed following the GRADE guideline. Furthermore, the effect sizes (ESs) of different strategies were compared in different time periods (0-1, 1-2, 2-3, >3 months), as well as Demodex decrease rates. RESULTS: 1,618 studies were identified in the databases, with 21 of which included in the final quantitative synthesis. Interventions in these studies included ivermectin, tea tree oil (TTO), permethrin, crotamiton, metronidazole, light therapies, combined therapies, and other therapies. During 0-1 month, the ES varied from 0.07 (cleanser) to 1.95 (systemic ivermectin-metronidazole). During 1-2 months, the ES varied from 0.88 (topical permethrin) to 4.40 (topical ivermectin). During 2-3 months, the ES varied from 0.79 (topical permethrin) to 8.37 (topical ivermectin). During the time of 3 months, the ES varied from 0.59 (topical permethrin) to 2.25 (intense pulsed light [IPL]). In terms of Demodex decrease rates, topical ivermectin, TTO, permethrin, IPL, and baby shampoo had achieved a nearly 100% decrease. The reported adverse events were mostly mild, without severe adverse events reported in any of the studies. CONCLUSIONS: We found ivermectin (topical and systemic), ivermectin-metronidazole (topical), and TTO (topical) are promising anti-Demodex interventions. In addition to traditional pharmacotherapy, light therapies, especially IPL and skin cleansing, could also be considered as effective methods to control Demodex mite infestation.

BACKGROUND: Orthodontic space closure of extraction sites can be initiated early, within 1-week post-extraction, or it can be delayed for a month or more. OBJECTIVE: This systematic review aimed to evaluate the effect of early versus delayed initiation of space closure after tooth extraction on the rate of orthodontic tooth movement. SEARCH METHODS: Unrestricted search of 10 electronic databases was conducted until September 2022. SELECTION CRITERIA: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) investigating the initiation time of space closure of extraction sites in patients undergoing orthodontic treatment were included. DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS: Data items were extracted using a pre-piloted extraction form. The Cochrane's risk of bias tool (ROB 2.0) and the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation approach were used for quality assessment. Meta-analysis was undertaken if there are at least two trials reporting the same outcome. RESULTS: Eleven RCTs met the inclusion criteria. Meta-analysis revealed that early canine retraction resulted in a statistically significant higher rate of maxillary canine retraction when compared to delayed canine retraction [mean difference (MD); 0.17 mm/month, 95% CI: 0.06 to 0.28, P = 0.003, 4 RCTs, moderate quality]. Duration of space closure was shorter in the early space closure group, but not statistically significant (MD; 1.11 months, 95% CI: -0.27 to 2.49, P = 0.11, 2 RCTs, low quality). The incidence of gingival invaginations was not statistically different between early and delayed space closure groups (Odds ratio; 0.79, 95% CI: 0.27 to 2.29, 2 RCTs, P = 0.66, very low quality). Qualitative synthesis found no statistically significant differences between the two groups regarding anchorage loss, root resorption, tooth tipping, and alveolar bone height. CONCLUSIONS: Based on the available evidence, early traction within the first week after tooth extraction has a minimal clinically significant effect on the rate of tooth movement compared to delayed traction. Further high-quality RCTs with standardized time points and measurement methods are still needed. REGISTRATION: PROSPERO (CRD42022346026).

BACKGROUND: The aim of this retrospective study was to compare the efficacy of concentrated growth factor (CGF) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) as scaffolds in regenerative endodontic therapy (RET). METHODS: Necrotic immature permanent teeth treated with regenerative endodontic therapy during January 2018 to August 2022 were divided into the CGF and PRF groups according to the scaffold. The CGF and PRF groups included 7 and 6 teeth, respectively. The efficacy of regenerative endodontic therapy was analyzed based on the clinical and radiological outcomes at three different follow up periods: T1 (3-6 months), T2 (6-12 months) and T3 (12-24 months). Statistical analysis was performed using the independent T test, Mann-Whitney test and Fisher's exact test at a significance level of 0.05. RESULTS: The success rate of each stage in both groups was 100%. Through quantitative comparison of radiographic outcomes, there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of root development and periapical lesion healing at each stage, except that the increase rate of radiographic root area in PRF group in the T3 stage was above one in CGF group with statistically significance. CONCLUSIONS: Both CGF and PRF had a similar clinical performance regarding resolution of clinical signs and symptoms, periapical lesion healing, and continued root development as scaffolds in RET. Further prospective studies with large samples for longer follow-up periods are needed.

Osteosarcoma is an aggressive malignant bone sarcoma worldwide. A causal gene network with specific functions underlying both the development and progression of OS was still unclear. Here we firstly identified the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between control and OS samples, and then defined the hub genes and top clusters in the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network of these DEGs. By focusing on the hub gene TYROBP in the top 1 cluster, a conserved TYROBP co-expression network was identified. Then the effect of the network on OS overall survival was analyzed. Gene Ontology (GO), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analyses and Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) were used to explore the functions of the network. XCell platform and ssGSEA algorithm were conducted to estimate the status of immune infiltration. ChEA3 platform, GSEA enrichment analysis, and Drug Pair Seeker (DPS) were used to predict the key transcription factor and its upstream signal. We identified the downregulated SPI1-TYROBP-FCER1G network in OS, which were significantly enriched in immune-related functions. We also defined a two-gene signature (SPI1/FCER1G) that can predict poorer OS overall survival and the attenuated immune infiltration when downregulated. The SPI1-TYROBP-FCER1G network were potentially initiated by transcription factor SPI1 and would lead to the upregulated CD86, MHC-II, CCL4/CXCL10/CX3CL1 and hence increased immune infiltrations. With this study, we could better explore the mechanism of OS oncogenesis and metastasis for developing new therapies.

BACKGROUND: Red and blue light therapies are safe and effective treatments for mild-to-moderate acne vulgaris. However, very few previous studies have directly compared the characteristics of these two methods. OBJECTIVE: To compare the efficacy and side effects of red light (RL) and blue light (BL) for acne vulgaris and to assess these two therapies in different types of lesions. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 28 subjects with mild-to-moderate acne vulgaris were randomized into the RL group or the BL group. Subjects in each group received different light treatments, and they were followed up regularly until 2 weeks after the last treatment. The improvement rates of different types of acne lesions were compared between the 2 groups, as well as the incidence of adverse reactions. RESULTS: At the 2-week follow-up, the average improvement rate of total acne lesions was 36.2% in the RL group and 30.7% in the BL group (p > .05). The average improvement rate of inflammatory and non-inflammatory lesions was 51.5% and 17.3% in the RL group, compared with 26.4% and 10.0% in the BL group (all p > .05). Treatment-related adverse reactions were observed distinctly in the BL group. CONCLUSIONS: Red light and BL therapies have similar efficacy in mild-to-moderate acne vulgaris, especially for inflammatory lesions. RL had advantages with fewer adverse reactions compared with BL.

Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors are recommended agents for the treatment of diabetic kidney disease (DKD). Additionally, SGLT2 inhibitors lower blood glucose, decrease blood pressure, and can be useful for volume management. For these reasons, we hypothesized that initiating SGLT2 inhibitor therapy may be associated with deprescribing of other medications in patients with DKD. We compared medication lists at SGLT2 inhibitor initiation and 6 months post-initiation in 21 patients with DKD who were followed in our interprofessional outpatient nephrology clinic to evaluate deprescribing patterns in diabetes, hypertension, and diuretic medications. Six months of SGLT2 inhibitor therapy in patients with DKD was associated with deprescribing of high-risk diabetes agents, antihypertensives, and loop diuretics with minimal changes in A1C and fewer adverse events.

BACKGROUND: To examine the influence of mouth breathing on maxillofacial and airway development in children and adolescents with different cervical vertebral maturation stages. METHODS: Lateral cephalometric radiograph of a total of 120 children and adolescents, 64 girls and 56 boys (7-15 years old), diagnosed with mouth breathing were examined. Maxillofacial hard tissue, soft tissue and airway measurements were obtained using both manual and digital techniques. Independent samples t-test was performed to compare the difference between the measured indexes and the standard values. RESULTS: As for maxillofacial hard tissue, SNB (CS1-CS5), GoGn (CS1-CS5), ArGoNa (CS1-CS5), ArGo (CS1-CS2) and SNA (CS1-CS2) in mouth breathing children and adolescents were below the standard values (P < 0.05). NGoMe (CS1-CS5), SN-MP (CS1-CS4), SN-PP (CS1-CS4), PP-MP (CS1-CS3) and SN-GoGn (CS1-CS2) in mouth breathing children and adolescents were above the standard values (P < 0.05). As for maxillofacial soft tissue measurements, H angle (CS1-CS5), lower lip length (CS1-CS5), upper lip protrusion (CS1-CS5), upper lip length (CS1-CS4), lower lip protrusion (CS1-CS3), surface Angle (CS2-CS3) and nasolabial angle (CS2) in mouth breathing children and adolescents were above the standard values with statistically significance (P < 0.05). As for airway measurements, PAS (CS1, CS2, CS5) in mouth breathing children and adolescents was above the standard value with statistical significance (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Mouth breathing had a real effect on maxillofacial and airway development, which differed among mouth breathing children and adolescents with different cervical vertebral maturation.

We investigate in detail the azimuthal and radial modulation (i.e., the azimuthal order lj and radial order pj with j = 1, 2) of double-four-wave mixing (double-FWM) by use of two higher-order Laguerre-Gaussian (LG) beams in a Landau quantized graphene ensemble. A pair of weak probe pulses in the graphene ensemble interacts with two LG beams and thus two vortex FWM fields with the opposite vorticity are subsequently generated. In combination with numerical simulations, we reveal that (i) there appear l1 + l2 periods of phase jumps in the phase profiles under any conditions; (ii) p + 1 concentric rings emerge in the intensity profile and the strength is mainly concentrated on the inner ring when the two LG beams have the same radial orders (i.e., p1 = p2 = p); (iii) there are p raised narrow rings occurring in the phase profile in the case of p1 = p2 = p and l1 ≠ l2, and the raised narrow rings would disappear when p1 = p2 and l1 = l2; (iv) pmax + 1 concentric rings appear in the intensity profile, meanwhile, |p1 - p2| convex discs and pmin raised narrow rings emerge in the phase diagram in the case of p1 ≠ p2, here pmax = max(p1, p2) and pmin = min(p1, p2). Moreover, the two generated FWM fields have the same results, and the difference is that the phase jumps are completely opposite. These findings may have potential application in graphene-based nonlinear optical device by using LG beams with adjustable mode orders.

Parkin functions as a multipurpose E3 ubiquitin ligase, and Parkin loss of function is associated with both sporadic and familial Parkinson's disease (PD). We report that the Bin/Amphiphysin/Rvs (BAR) domain of protein interacting with PRKCA1 (PICK1) bound to the really interesting new gene 1 (RING1) domain of Parkin and potently inhibited the E3 ligase activity of Parkin by disrupting its interaction with UbcH7. Parkin translocated to damaged mitochondria and led to their degradation in neurons, whereas PICK1 robustly inhibited this process. PICK1 also impaired the protective function of Parkin against stresses in SH-SY5Y cells and neurons. The protein levels of several Parkin substrates were reduced in young PICK1-knockout mice, and these mice were resistant to 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-mediated toxicity. Taken together, the results indicate that PICK1 is a potent inhibitor of Parkin, and the reduction of PICK1 enhances the protective effect of Parkin.

In-situ immobilization is an effective and economically viable strategy for remediation of soil extensively polluted with heavy metals. The long-term sustainability is critical for the remediation practice. In the present study, a ten-year experiment was performed in a Cd-polluted agricultural field to evaluate the long-term stability of lime, silicon fertilizer (SF), fused calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer (FCMP), bone charcoal, steel slag, and blast furnace slag with one-off application. All amendments had no significant effect on biomass but significantly reduced Cd uptake by Artemisia selengensis at higher dose. Among them, SF and FCMP applied at 1% could reduce Cd uptake by more than 40% to meet the Chinese maximum permissible limit for Cd content in food products (50 µg kg-1). These amendments stimulated high Cd immobilization by increasing the soil pH and decreasing the soil acid-extractable Cd content, which were closely associated with Cd uptake. In addition, the two amendments altered the soil microbial structure and stimulated metabolism pathways, including amino acid, carbohydrate, and lipid metabolism, which are beneficial for soil function and quality. The results proved that SF and FCMP at 1% are stable and ecologically safe amendments, suitable for long-term Cd immobilization, and provide a strategy to mitigate the risk of food product contamination in heavy-metal-polluted soil.

Although the organic and the conventional inorganic thermoelectric (TE) materials have been extensively developed in recent years, the number of cases involving conducting metallopolymers is still quite limited. In view of the versatile coordination capability of the terpyridine fraction and the electron-rich nature of the 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene moiety, a bis-terpyridine-featured ligand was designed, and a series of metallopolymers were then synthesized. Upon the addition of single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT), the TE properties of the resulting metallopolymer-SWCNT composite films were investigated. It was found that metal centres played an important role in affecting the morphology of the thin films, which was a key factor that determined the TE performances of the composites. Additionally, the energy levels of the metallopolymers were feasibly tuned by selecting different metal centres. With the combined effects of a uniform and condensed surface and an optimized band structure, the highest power factor was achieved by the Cu(II)-containing metallopolymer-SWCNT composite at the doping ratio of 75%, which reached 38.3 µW·m-1·K-2.

Two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials are attracting much attention due to their excellent electronic and optical properties. Here, we report the first experimental preparation of two free-standing mercurated graphyne nanosheets via the interface-assisted bottom-up method, which integrates both the advantages of metal center and graphyne. The continuous large-area nanosheets derived from the chemical growth show the layered molecular structural arrangement, controllable thickness and enhanced π-conjugation, which result in their stable and outstanding broadband nonlinear saturable absorption (SA) properties (at both 532 and 1064 nm). The passively Q-switched (PQS) performances of these two nanosheets as the saturable absorbers are comparable to or higher than those of the state-of-the-art 2D nanomaterials (such as graphene, black phosphorus, MoS2 , γ-graphyne, etc.). Our results illustrate that the two metallated graphynes could act not only as a new class of 2D carbon-rich materials, but also as inexpensive and easily available optoelectronic materials for device fabrication.

OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to develop non-invasive machine learning classifiers for predicting post-Glenn shunt patients with low and high risks of a mean pulmonary arterial pressure (mPAP) > 15 mmHg based on preoperative cardiac computed tomography (CT). METHODS: This retrospective study included 96 patients with functional single ventricle who underwent a bidirectional Glenn procedure between November 1, 2009, and July, 31, 2017. All patients underwent post-procedure CT, followed by cardiac catheterization. Overall, 23 morphologic parameters were manually extracted from cardiac CT images for each patient. The Mann-Whitney U or chi-square test was applied to select the most significant predictors. Six machine learning algorithms including logistic regression, Naive Bayes, random forest (RF), linear discriminant analysis, support vector machine, and K-nearest neighbor were used for modeling. These algorithms were independently trained on 100 train-validation random splits with a 3:1 ratio. Their average performance was evaluated by area under the curve (AUC), accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity. RESULTS: Seven CT morphologic parameters were selected for modeling. RF obtained the best performance, with mean AUC of 0.840 (confidence interval [CI] 0.832-0.850) and 0.787 (95% CI 0.780-0.794); sensitivity of 0.815 (95% CI 0.797-0.833) and 0.778 (95% CI 0.767-0.788), specificity of 0.766 (95% CI 0.748-0.785) and 0.746 (95% CI 0.735-0.757); and accuracy of 0.782 (95% CI 0.771-0.793) and 0.756 (95% CI 0.748-0.764) in the training and validation cohorts, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The CT-based RF model demonstrates a good performance in the prediction of mPAP, which may reduce the need for right heart catheterization in post-Glenn shunt patients with suspected mPAP > 15 mmHg. KEY POINTS: • Twenty-three candidate descriptors were manually extracted from cardiac computed tomography images, and seven of them were selected for subsequent modeling. • The random forest model presents the best predictive performance for pulmonary pressure among all methods. • The computed tomography-based machine learning model could predict post-Glenn shunt pulmonary pressure non-invasively.
