BACKGROUND: Osteosarcoma (OS) is one of the most common aggressive bone malignancy tumors in adolescents. With the application of new chemotherapy regimens, finding new and effective anti-OS drugs to coordinate program implementation is urgent for the patients of OS. Oridonin had been proved to mediate anti-tumor effect on OS cells, but its mechanism has not been fully elucidated. METHODS: The effects of oridonin on the viability, clonal formation and migration of 143B and U2OS cells were detected by CCK-8, colony formation assays and wound-healing test. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analysis was used to explore the mechanism of oridonin on OS. Western blot (WB), real-time quantitative PCR (qRT-PCR) were used to detect the expression levels of apoptosis and ferroptosis-relative proteins and genes. Annexin V-FITC apoptosis detection kit and flow cytometry examination were used to detect the level of apoptosis. Iron assay kit was used to evaluate the relative Fe2+ content. The levels of mitochondrial membrane potential and lipid peroxidation production was determined by mitochondrial membrane potential detection kit and ROS assay kit. RESULTS: Oridonin could effectively inhibit the survival, clonal formation and metastasis of OS cells. The KEGG results indicated that oridonin is associated with the malignant phenotypic signaling pathways of proliferation, migration, and drug resistance in OS. Oridonin was capable of inhibiting expressions of BAX, cl-caspase3, SLC7A11, GPX4 and FTH1 proteins and mRNA, while promoting the expressions of Bcl-2 and ACSL4 in 143B and U2OS cells. Additionally, we found that oridonin could promote the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and Fe2+ in OS cells, as well as reduce mitochondrial membrane potential, and these effects could be significantly reversed by the ferroptosis inhibitor ferrostatin-1 (Fer-1). CONCLUSION: Oridonin can trigger apoptosis and ferroptosis collaboratively in OS cells, making it a promising and effective agent for OS therapy.

We aimed to explore the causal effect of daytime napping on the risk of osteoporosis and the mediation role of testosterone in explaining this relationship. Summary data for Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis were obtained from the IEU OpenGWAS database. Univariable MR(UVMR) analysis and multiple sensitivity analyses were applied to explore the casual relationship between daytime napping and bone mineral density (BMD)/osteoporosis. We also conducted multivariable Mendelian randomization (MVMR) analysis to evaluate the correlation between testosterone-associated single-nucleotide variations and BMD/osteoporosis. Then, mediation analysis was performed to explore whether the association between daytime napping and BMD/osteoporosis was mediated via testosterone. Genetically predicted daytime napping was significantly associated with femoral neck BMD (ß [95% CI]: 0.2573 [0.0487, 0.4660]; P = 0.0156), lumbar spine BMD (ß [95% CI]: 0.2526 [0.0211, 0.4840]; P = 0.0324), and osteoporosis (OR [95% CI]: 0.5063 [0.2578, 0.9942]; P = 0.0481). ß and 95%CIs indicate the standard deviation (SD) unit of BMD increase per category increase in daytime napping. OR and 95%CIs represent the change in the odds ratio of osteoporosis per category increase in daytime napping. We observed a potentially causal effect of more frequent daytime napping on higher BMD and a lower risk of osteoporosis. Daytime napping was causally associated with a higher level of bioavailable testosterone (ß [95% CI]: 0.1397 [0.0619, 0.2175]; P = 0.0004). ß and 95%CIs represent the change in the SD of testosterone per category increase in daytime napping. Furthermore, the causal effects of daytime napping on BMD/osteoporosis were partly mediated by bioavailable testosterone. Daytime napping can efficiently increase BMD and reduce the risk of osteoporosis, and testosterone plays a key mediating role in this process.

OBJECTIVE: We compared the signal intensity ratio (SIR) of the cochlear basal turn between Meniere's disease and healthy controls to investigate potential damage of the blood-labyrinth barrier in Meniere's disease. METHODS: Thirty patients diagnosed with unilateral definite Meniere's disease and 24 healthy controls were enrolled. 3D-FLAIR scan was conducted to assess the grades of endolymphatic hydrops in Meniere's patients while measuring the SIR of cochlear basal turns in both groups. The differences of bilateral SIR between Meniere's disease and healthy control were compared, and the correlation between the SIR on affected ear in Meniere's disease and the grades of cochlear and vestibular hydrops were analyzed. RESULTS: SIR of affected ear in Meniere's disease exhibited significant increase compared to that of unaffected ear. No significant difference was observed in SIR between the two ears in the healthy control. Furthermore, the SIR of unaffected side in Meniere's disease was higher than that of both ears in healthy controls. The SIR in affected ear of Meniere's disease exhibited positive correlation with hydrops in both cochlea and vestibula. CONCLUSION: The permeability of blood-labyrinth barrier is increased in Meniere's disease, in combination with the typical criteria of Meniere's disease it may be a good biological marker. Destruction of blood-labyrinth barrier may be one of the causes of endolymphatic hydrops in Meniere's disease.

RESUMO

Streptomide (1), a new amide analogue, streptomynone (2), a new quinolinone, and ten known compounds including three aliphatic acids (3-5), two amides (6-7), four cyclic dipeptides (8-11), and an adenosine (12) were isolated from the fermentation broth of Streptomyces sp. YIM S01983 isolated from a sediment sample collected in Bendong Village, Huadong Town, Chuxiong, China. Their structures were determined by analysis of the 1D/2D-NMR and HR-ESI-MS spectra. Compound 12 presented weak antimicrobial activities against Candida albicans and Aligenes faecalis (MIC=64 µg/mL). Compounds 7 and 12 showed weak cytotoxic activity against MHCC97H.

RESUMO

A palladium-catalyzed direct carbonylation of aryl bromides with carbon dioxide as the carbonyl source has been developed by using Pd(dba)2/DPEPhos as the catalyst under mild reaction conditions, providing an efficient route to a variety of aryl carboxylic acids in moderate to high yields. The methods have many advantages such as the use of a simple palladium catalyst system, wide substrate scope, good functional group tolerance, high yields, and easy scalability.

BACKGROUND: Prostate artery embolization (PAE) is a relatively safe and effective alternative method for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms secondary to benign prostatic hyperplasia. The adverse events caused by PAE are primarily mild, including urinary tract infection, acute urinary retention, dysuria, fever, etc. Severe complications, such as nontarget organ embolism syndrome or penile glans ischemic necrosis, are rare. Here, we report a case of severe ischemic necrosis of the glans penis after PAE and review the literature. CASE PRESENTATION: An 86-year-old male patient was admitted to the hospital due to progressive dysuria with gross hematuria. The patient underwent placement of a three-way urinary catheter to facilitate continuous bladder flushing, hemostasis, and rehydration. After admission, his hemoglobin decreased to 89 g/L. After an examination, the diagnosis was benign prostatic hyperplasia with bleeding. During communication with the patient regarding treatment, he requested prostate artery embolization due to his advanced age and concomitant disease status. He underwent bilateral prostate artery embolization under local anesthesia. His urine gradually turned clear. However, on the 6th day after embolization, the glans gradually showed ischemic changes. On the 10th day, there was partial necrosis and blackening of the glans. The glans completely healed, and the patient was able to urinate smoothly on the 60th day after local cleaning and debridement, the administration of pain relief, anti-inflammatory and anti-infection agents, and external application of burn ointment. CONCLUSION: Penile glans ischemic necrosis after PAE is rare. The symptoms include pain, congestion, swelling, and cyanosis in the glans.

OBJECTIVES: Based on a prospective design, this study aimed to investigate the relationships of leisure activities with physical and cognitive functions among Chinese older adults. METHODS: The respondents aged 65 years or more were selected from the 2014-2018 of the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey. Physical function measurement indicators were reflected by activities of daily living (ADL), instrumental activities of daily living (IADL), and physical performance (PP), while cognitive function was assessed by Mini-Mental State Examination. Fine-Gray competing risk regression models were used to analyze the data. RESULTS: Using the figures for 2014 as a baseline for the study, we included 6047, 6216, 5951, and 5916 respondents in the ADL, IADL, PP, and cognitive function analyses, respectively. The prospective results showed that keeping domestic animals or pets was related to a lower risk of ADL disability of respondents after adjustment (SHR: 0.619, 95% CI: 0.486, 0.788). Similarly, taking part in social activities (SHR: 0.781, 95%CI: 0.658, 0.929) and reading books or newspapers (SHR: 0.793, 95% CI: 0.656, 0.958) were associated with a lower risk of IADL disability. Playing cards or mahjong was correlated with a lower risk of cognitive impairment (SHR: 0.669, 95% CI: 0.507, 0.882), while keeping domestic animals or pets was related to a higher risk of cognitive impairment (SHR: 1.279, 95% CI: 1.047, 1.562). CONCLUSION: Participation in leisure activities moderately may decrease the risk of a decline in physical and cognitive functions among Chinese older adults.

Research was conducted on the growth performance and nutritional quality of Chinese mitten crabs (Eriocheir sinensis) during a 62-day growing period in a symbiotic coculture comprising rice and crab. Culture experiments were conducted in three rice fields of equal size (996 m2). On days 0 (July 15, D0), 15 (July 30, D15), 31 (August 15, D31), 46 (August 30, D46), and 62 (September 2, D62), tissue samples of 50 female E. sinensis were collected randomly from each rice field. The results showed that the serum growth hormone (GH) content and muscle ecdysone receptor (EcR) mRNA expression levels were higher in the D31 and D46 groups; the content of serum 20-hydroxyecdysone (20-HE) and the mRNA expression levels of retinoid X receptor (RXR), insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF2), and chitinase (CHI) reached the maximum in the D31 group. Muscle crude protein content gradually increased; hepatopancreas crude protein and crude lipid content began to decrease after reaching the maximum value in the D0 and D15 groups, respectively; the contents of crude protein and crude lipid in the ovary significantly increased in the D46 and D62 groups (P < 0.05). The content of muscle essential amino acids (EAA) reached the maximum in the D46 group; the hepatopancreas EAA content began to decrease significantly in the D31 group (P < 0.05); and the EAA content of the ovary decreased significantly after reaching the maximum value in the D46 group (P < 0.05). The muscle contents of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosapentaenoic acid (DPA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), and n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3PUFA) and the ratio of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids/n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n3/n6) decreased significantly in the D31 group (P < 0.05); the hepatopancreas contents of EPA, PUFA, n-3PUFA, and n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-6PUFA) and the ratio of n3/n6 began to decrease after reaching the maximum value in the D31 group, ethyl behenate (21:0), tetracosanoic acid (24:0), DPA, and DHA contents were detected for the first time in the D31 group; the ovary PUFA, n-3PUFA contents, and n3/n6 ratio of the D46 and D62 groups were significantly lower than those of the D31 group (P < 0.05). During the experimental conditions described here, female E. sinensis raised in rice fields reached rapid growth from August 15 to August 30. Additionally, the nutritional quality of the female E. sinensis edible tissues (muscle, hepatopancreas, and ovary) began to decline after August 15, when sufficient nutrients such as protein, lipid, EAA, and PUFA should be provided to the female E. sinensis.

BACKGROUND: Clematis species are attractive ornamental plants with a variety of flower colors and patterns. Heat stress is one of the main factors restricting the growth, development, and ornamental value of Clematis. Clematis lanuginosa and Clematis crassifolia are large-flowered and evergreen Clematis species, respectively, that show different tolerance to heat stress. We compared and analyzed the transcriptome of C. lanuginose and C. crassifolia under heat stress to determine the regulatory mechanism(s) of resistance. RESULTS: A total of 1720 and 6178 differentially expressed genes were identified from C. lanuginose and C. crassifolia, respectively. The photosynthesis and oxidation-reduction processes of C. crassifolia were more sensitive than C. lanuginose under heat stress. Glycine/serine/threonine metabolism, glyoxylic metabolism, and thiamine metabolism were important pathways in response to heat stress in C. lanuginose, and flavonoid biosynthesis, phenylalanine metabolism, and arginine/proline metabolism were the key pathways in C. crassifolia. Six sHSPs (c176964_g1, c200771_g1, c204924_g1, c199407_g2, c201522_g2, c192936_g1), POD1 (c200317_g1), POD3 (c210145_g2), DREB2 (c182557_g1), and HSFA2 (c206233_g2) may be key genes in the response to heat stress in C. lanuginose and C. crassifolia. CONCLUSIONS: We compared important metabolic pathways and differentially expressed genes in response to heat stress between C. lanuginose and C. crassifolia. The results increase our understanding of the response mechanism and candidate genes of Clematis under heat stress. These data may contribute to the development of new Clematis varieties with greater heat tolerance.

Low back pain (LBP) is a major clinical problem that lacks effective treatments. The sensory innervation in porous vertebral endplates and anxiety contributes to spinal hyperalgesia. We hypothesized that SIRT1 activator resveratrol alleviates LBP and anxiety via promotion of osteogenesis in the porous endplates. The hyperalgesia and anxiety-related behaviors; sensory innervation, inflammation and porosity of endplates; and osteogenic/osteoclastic factors expression were measured following resveratrol treatment after lumbar spine instability (LSI) surgery. To explore whether resveratrol promotes endplates osteogenesis and thus alleviates LBP through activation of SIRT1 in the osteoprogenitor cells of endplates, SIRT1OSX-/- mice were employed. Additionally, the levels of inflammation markers, phosphorylation of cAMP response element-binding protein (pCREB), and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in hippocampus were evaluated. After 4 or 8 weeks LSI surgery, the mice suffered from hyperalgesia and anxiety, which were efficiently attenuated by resveratrol at 8 weeks. Resveratrol treatment-enhanced osteogenesis and decreased endplates porosities accompanied with the reduction of TNFα, IL-1ß, and COX2 levels and CGRP+ nerve fibers innervation in porous endplates. Resveratrol-mediated endplates osteogenesis, decreased endplates porosities, and analgesic and antianxiety effects were abrogated in SIRT1OSX-/- mice. Furthermore, resveratrol relieved inflammation and increased pCREB and BDNF expression in the hippocampus after 8 weeks, which alleviate anxiety-related behaviors. This study provides that resveratrol-mediated porous endplates osteogenesis via the activation of SIRT1 markedly blocked sensory innervation and inflammation in endplates, therefore, alleviating LSI surgery-induced LBP and hippocampus-related anxiety.

To study the effects of dietary methionine on growth performance, immunity, antioxidant capacity, protein metabolism, inflammatory response and apoptosis factors in Chinese mitten crabs (Eriocheir sinensis). Five diets with different methionine levels (0.63%, 0.85%, 1.06%, 1.25% and 1.47%) were fed to E. sinensis for 8 weeks. Results showed that in the 1.25% Met group, both growth performance and feed utilization were significantly increased. The crude protein content of crab muscle in the 1.06% and 1.25% Met groups was significantly higher than that in the control group. The immune and antioxidant enzyme activities, as well as gene expression levels of anti-lipopolysaccharide factor 1 (ALF1), Crustin-1, prophenoloxidase (proPO), cap 'n' collar isoform C (CncC) in 1.25% Met group were significantly higher than other groups. The activities of adenosine deaminase (ADA) and glutamate transaminase (GPT) in serum decreased first and then increased with the increase of methionine content, while the changes of ADA and GPT in hepatopancreas increased first and then decreased. 1.25% Met group exhibited significantly increased levels of GOT, GPT, and ADA compared to the control group. 1.25% Met diet group significantly up-regulated protein synthesis and anti-apoptotic factors, and significantly down-regulated inflammatory and pro-apoptotic factors in hepatopancreas. At 1.25% in the diet, methionine was found to boost E. sinensis growth, muscle protein deposition and immunity, as well as its antioxidant capacity. Combined with the above results, based on the expression of factors involved in the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathway and the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway, it is proved that methionine can not only promote protein metabolism, improve feed utilization, but also alleviate the inflammatory response and apoptosis caused by oxidative stress in the body.

BACKGROUND Fundamental and clinical interest in mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) has risen dramatically over the past 3 decades. The immunomodulatory and differentiation abilities are the main mechanisms in vitro and in vivo. However, increasing evidence casts doubt on the stemness and immunogenicity of MSCs. MATERIAL AND METHODS We conducted a high-throughput 10x RNA sequencing and Smart-seq2 scRNA-seq analysis to reveal gene expression of Wharton jelly MSCs (WJ-MSCs) at a single-cell level. Multipotent differentiation, subpopulations, marker genes, human leucocyte antigen (HLA) gene expression, and cell cluster trajectory analysis were evaluated. RESULTS The WJ-MSCs had considerable heterogeneity between cells in terms of gene expression. They highly, partially, and hardly expressed genes related to mesodermal differentiation, endodermal differentiation, and ectodermal differentiation, respectively. Some cells seem to be bipotent or unipotent stem cells. Further, Monocle and cell cluster trajectory analysis demonstrated that 1 of the 3 divided clusters performed as stem cells, accounting for 12.6% of the population. The marker genes for a stem cell cluster were CRIM1, GLS, PLOD2, NEXN, ACTR2, FN1, MBNL1, LMOD1, COL3A1, NCL, SEC62, EPRS, COL5A2, COL8A1, and VCAN. In addition, the MSCs also highly, partially, and hardly expressed HLA-I antigen genes, HLA-II genes, and the HLA-G gene, respectively, indicating that MSCs probably have immunogenicity. A Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analysis of the 3 clusters demonstrated that they were mainly connected with viral infectious diseases, cancer, and endocrine and metabolic disorders. The most expressed transcription factors were zf-C2H2, HMG/HMGY, and Homeobox. CONCLUSIONS We found that only a subpopulation of WJ-MSCs are real stem cells and WJ-MSCs probably do not have immune privilege.

BACKGROUND: Despite a great deal of existing research on nurses' job stress and intention to stay, it is still unclear how the association between Chinese nurses' job stress and intention to stay is affected by presenteeism and family functioning. AIMS: This study aimed to investigate the correlations of Chinese nurses' job stress, presenteeism, and family functioning with their intention to stay and clarify the mediating effect of presenteeism and the moderating effect of family functioning on the association between their job stress and intention to stay. METHOD: A cross-sectional study of 1,008 nurses was performed in a major general hospital in Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province, China. The participants were invited to engage in a questionnaire survey regarding job stress, presenteeism, family functioning, and intention to stay. A moderated mediation analysis was conducted through multiple linear regression analysis and the PROCESS macro. RESULTS: Job stress and presenteeism were negatively correlated with intention to stay, whereas family functioning was positively correlated with intention to stay. The effect of job stress on intention to stay was partially mediated by presenteeism (Effect = -0.147, 95% CI = [-0.305, -0.003]). In addition, family functioning moderated the direct effect of job stress on intention to stay (Index = -0.134, 95% CI = [-0.274, -0.001]). CONCLUSIONS: Presenteeism and family functioning were found to play mediating and moderating roles, respectively, in the relationship between job stress and intention to stay. Relevant interventions or family-friendly programs should be developed to enhance nurses' intention to stay.

Nurses' mental health is related to the quality of medical care and the outcome of treatment, and has become an important issue in nursing management. However, the role of burnout in the relationship between job satisfaction and psychological distress have not been evaluated. This study aimed to examine the prevalence of psychological distress among Chinese nurses and explore the associations of job satisfaction and burnout with psychological distress. A cross-sectional survey of 866 nurses was conducted in Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province of China. Job satisfaction, burnout, and psychological distress were assessed via the single-item, the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey, and the 12-item General Health Questionnaire respectively, followed by a mediation analysis through the multiple regression analysis and a PROCESS macro method. The prevalence of psychological distress was 35.2% among the participants. After controlling the potential confounding factors, job satisfaction and burnout were found to be still associated with psychological distress (P < 0.001). Furthermore, psychological distress was negatively correlated with both job satisfaction (r = -0.312) and personal accomplishment (r = -0.422) but positively correlated with both emotional exhaustion (r = 0.491) and depersonalization (r = 0.449). Burnout may mediate the association between job satisfaction and psychological distress (B = 0.139, ß = 0.440, P < 0.001 for emotional exhaustion; B = 0.226, ß = 0.382, P < 0.001 for depersonalization; and B = -0.105, ß = -0.368, P < 0.001 for personal accomplishment). The mental health status of Chinese nurses remains to be improved. Low job satisfaction and burnout could increase the risk of psychological distress among Chinese nurses. Moreover, job satisfaction may partially affect psychological distress among Chinese nurses through emotional exhaustion, personal accomplishment, and depersonalization. RESUMO

A base-promoted three-component cascade reaction of α-hydroxy ketones, malonodinitrile, and alcohols has been developed, providing a direct and efficient route to a range of structurally diverse and synthetically useful 2-alkyloxy-1H-pyrrole-3-carbonitrile derivatives. The reaction involved three different bond (C-C, C-O, and C-N) formations in a single step, and its regioselectivity was depended on the structure of the α-hydroxy ketones employed. The use of easily available starting materials, wide substrate scope, good functional group tolerance, operational simplicity, and high atom economy are attractive features of the new method.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: The present study was aimed at describing the status of job burnout and exploring the mediating roles of psychological capital and professional identity on the association between organisational justice and job burnout. BACKGROUND: With the shortage of nurses all over the world, nurses' job burnout has become the focus of studies in recent years. However, limited published research has examined the mediating roles of psychological capital and professional identity on the association between organisational justice and job burnout within hospital contexts in China. DESIGN: A cross-sectional design. METHODS: A total of 1,009 nurses were enrolled from a major general hospital located in Qiqihar City in the northeast of China from March-July 2018, and asked to complete questionnaires regarding organisational justice, psychological capital, professional identity and job burnout. The STROBE checklist was adhered to in this study. RESULTS: It was observed that the overall proportion of nurses with job burnout was 58.8%. All the correlations among organisational justice, psychological capital, professional identity and job burnout were statistically significant, with coefficients ranging between -0.487-0.863. Psychological capital and professional identity had indirect effects equal to -0.072 and -0.142, respectively, on the association between organisational justice and job burnout, taking up 13.7% and 26.9% of the total effect, respectively. The serial indirect effect of psychological capital and professional identity was -0.129, accounting for 24.5% of the total effect. CONCLUSIONS: This study showed the necessity of addressing the status of job burnout among Chinese nurses. Psychological capital and professional identity may mediate the linkage between organisational justice and job burnout independently and accumulatively. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE: Nursing managers should strengthen organisational justice and improve the psychological capital and professional identity of nurses through effective strategies to prevent the job burnout of nurses.

Job stress, perceived social support, and job satisfaction are important predictors of job burnout. However, few studies have explored the mechanism of job stress on different dimensions of job burnout through perceived social support and job satisfaction among bank employees. In this study, a total of 1464 Chinese bank employees completed the Job Stress Assessment Scale, Perceived Social Support Scale, Minnesota Job Satisfaction Questionnaire and Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey. The results showed that job burnout was positively associated with job stress but negatively associated with perceived social support and job satisfaction. Mediating analyses showed that the mediation of perceived social support was different for job burnout than for different job burnout dimensions. Job satisfaction mediated the relationship between job stress and different job burnout dimensions. In addition, the association between job stress and job burnout was sequentially mediated by perceived social support and job satisfaction.

This study aimed to identify the independent contributions of lifestyle factors to depressive symptoms among Chinese middle school students, with a focus on gender differences. A cross-sectional study of 3081 middle school students was conducted in Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, China. Students were asked to complete a questionnaire including socio-demographics, lifestyle factors, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and the Chinese Secondary School Students Depression Scale. The total prevalence of depressive symptoms was 19.9%. Poor quality of sleep, smoking, drinking and longer mobile phone use time were related to increased prevalence of depressive symptoms after adjusting for potential confounders. A significant interaction between gender and quality of sleep on the depressive symptoms was found (P = 0.014). The gender-stratified analysis showed that quality of sleep was significantly associated with depressive symptoms in both genders. However, the effect in males was greater than that in females.

AIM: This study aimed at exploring the impact of professional identity and psychological reward satisfaction on subjective well-being and clarifying the effect of psychological reward satisfaction on this relationship. BACKGROUND: People know little about the effect of psychological reward satisfaction on the relationship between professional identity and subjective well-being. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was carried out on 1,009 nurses from Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province of China. Professional Identity Scale, Psychological Reward Satisfaction Scale and General Well-Being Schedule were used to assess professional identity, psychological reward satisfaction and subjective well-being, respectively. Associations were explored by using structural equation modelling. RESULTS: The subjective well-being of 436 (43.2%) nurses was at low and moderate levels. After the adjustment of potential confounding factors, professional identity was still associated with subjective well-being (B = 3.035, ß = 0.215, p < .001). Professional identity (r = .308) and psychological reward satisfaction (r = .309) were positively correlated with subjective well-being. Psychological reward satisfaction mediated the association between professional identity and subjective well-being (effect = 0.114, p < .001). CONCLUSION: This study suggested that the subjective well-being of nurses should be improved by paying special attention to them and taking targeted support measures. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING MANAGEMENT: Nursing managers can help enhance the professional identity of nurses by organising nursing education activities, and pay more attention to psychological reward satisfaction to improve the subjective well-being of nurses.

BACKGROUND: Most Chinese migrants have been faced with obstacles to getting access to local public health services. Young migrants among internal migrants make a major contribution to the economy. However, the establishment of their health records has been ignored. This research was aimed at exploring the status and associated factors of the establishment of health records among young Chinese migrants. METHODS: Data were obtained from the 2017 China Migrants Dynamic Survey (CMDS). Chi-square test and binary logistic regression were performed to investigate the associated factors of the establishment of health records among young Chinese migrants. RESULTS: Approximately 30.2% of young migrants had their health records established in inflow communities. Urban residence, medical insurance (insured), and lower average monthly household income were attributed to the establishment of more health records. Young migrants who were in northeast China and across provinces and immigrated for working or engaging in trade were less likely to have health records established. Young migrants who participated in social activities and public affairs activities and took type of people in touch as natives in the inflow area showed a higher possibility of establishing health records. Meanwhile, receiving health education and hearing about national basic public health services (BPHSs) were beneficial for establishing the health records of more young migrants. CONCLUSION: This study showed that the health records of young migrants had a relatively low establishment rate. Sociodemographic and migration characteristics, health status, public health services, and social integration factors were all related to the health record establishment of young Chinese migrants.
