RESUMO

Solar-driven clean water production is challenged by VOCs (volatile organic compounds), which pose health risks in distilled water. Herein, we developed a Cu/W18O49@Graphene photothermal-photocatalytic material addressing VOCs contamination. Plasmonic coupling between Cu and W18O49 enhances light absorption, and 1-2 layers of graphene encapsulation protects oxygen vacancies within W18O49 while facilitating hot electron extraction, effectively mitigating their ultrafast relaxation. Density functional theory calculations revealed enhanced VOCs adsorption on graphene. These synergies address oxygen vacancy decay in W18O49 and provide more active sites for gas-liquid-solid triphase photocatalytic reactions. Integrated with a three-dimensional floating evaporator substrate, the optimized Cu/W18O49@Graphene material achieved an effective water evaporation rate of 1.41 kg m-2 h-1 (efficiency of 88.6%), exceptional stability (>120 h), and remarkable 99% phenol removal under 1 sun irradiation (1 kW m-2). This work provides a promising solution to mitigate VOCs contamination in solar-driven water evaporation.

RESUMO

The weak electronic interaction at metal-photocatalyst heterointerfaces often compromises solar-to-fuel performance. Here, a trifunctional Schottky junction, involving chemically stabilized ultrafine platinum nanoparticles (Pt NPs, ≈3 nm in diameter) on graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets (CNs) is proposed. The Pt-CN electronic interaction induces a 1.5% lattice compressive strain in Pt NPs and maintains their ultrafine size, effectively preventing their aggregation during photocatalytic reactions. Density functional theory calculations further demonstrate a significant reduction in the Schottky barrier at the chemically bonded CN-Pt heterointerface, facilitating efficient interfacial electron transfer, as supported by femtosecond transient absorption spectra (fs-TAS) measurements. The combined effects of lattice strain, stabilized Pt NPs, and efficient interfacial charge transport collaboratively enhance the photocatalytic performance, leading to over an 11-fold enhancement in visible light H2 production (8.52 mmol g-1 h-1) compared to the CN nanosheets with the in situ photo-deposited Pt NPs (0.76 mmol g-1 h-1). This study highlights the effectiveness of strong metal-semiconductor electronic interactions and underscores the potential for developing high-efficiency photocatalysts.

RESUMO

With the increasing demand for natural interactions, people have realized that an intuitive Computer-Aided Design (CAD) interaction mode can reduce the complexity of CAD operation and improve the design experience. Although interaction modes like gaze and gesture are compatible with some complex CAD manipulations, they still require people to express their design intentions physically. The brain contains design intentions implicitly and controls the corresponding body parts that execute the task. Therefore, building an end-to-end channel between the brain and computer as an auxiliary mode for CAD manipulation will allow people to send design intentions mentally and make their interaction more intuitive. This work focuses on the 1-D translation scene and studies a spatial visual imagery (SVI) paradigm to provide theoretical support for building an electroencephalograph (EEG)-based brain-computer interface (BCI) for CAD manipulation. Based on the analysis of three spatial EEG features related to SVI (e.g., common spatial patterns, cross-correlation, and coherence), a multi-feature fusion-based discrimination model was built for SVI. The average accuracy of the intent discrimination of 10 subjects was 86%, and the highest accuracy was 93%. The method proposed was verified to be feasible for discriminating the intentions of CAD object translation with good classification performance. This work further proves the potential of BCI in natural CAD manipulation.

RESUMO

Oxygen vacancies (OV) in nonmetallic plasmonic photocatalysts can decrease the energy barrier for CO2 reduction, boosting C1 intermediate production for potential C2 formation. However, their susceptibility to oxidation weakens C1 intermediate adsorption. Herein we proposed a "photoelectron injection" strategy to safeguard OV in W18O49 by creating a W18O49/ZIS (W/Z) plasmonic photocatalyst. Moreover, photoelectrons contribute to the local multi-electron environment of W18O49, enhancing the intrinsic excitation of its hot electrons with extended lifetimes, as confirmed by in situ XPS and femtosecond transient absorption analysis. Density functional theory calculations revealed that W/Z with OV enhances CO2 adsorption, activating *CO production, while reducing the energy barrier for *COH production (0.054 eV) and subsequent *CO-*COH coupling (0.574 eV). Successive hydrogenation revealed that the free energy for *CH2CH2 hydrogenation (0.108 eV) was lower than that for *CH2CH2 desorption for C2H4 production (0.277 eV), favouring C2H6 production. Consequently, W/Z achieves an efficient C2H6 activity of 653.6 µmol g-1 h-1 under visible light, with an exceptionally high selectivity of 90.6 %. This work offers a new strategy for the rational design of plasmonic photocatalysts with high selectivity for C2+ products.

RESUMO

DNA methylation is one of the important epigenetic mechanisms for modulating gene expression. By performing a genome-wide methylation association analysis of whole peripheral blood from 60 Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease (VKH) patients and 60 healthy controls, we depicted the global DNA methylation status of VKH disease. Further pyrosequencing validation in 160 patients and 159 controls identified 3 aberrant CpG sites in HLA gene regions including cg04026937 and cg18052547 (located in HLA-DRB1 region), and cg13778567 (HLA-DQA1). We also identified 9 aberrant CpG sites in non-HLA gene regions including cg13979407, cg21075643, cg24290586, cg10135747 and cg22707857 (BTNL2), cg22155039 (NOTCH4), cg02605387 (TNXB), cg06255004 (AGPAT2) and cg18855195 (RIBC2). Increased mRNA levels of BTNL2, NOTCH4 and TNXB were identified in VKH patients when compared with healthy controls, consistent with the hypomethylated CpG status in these gene regions. Moreover, seven aberrantly methylated CpG sites may serve as a diagnostic marker for VKH disease (AUC = 84.95%, 95%CI: 79.49%-90.41%).

RESUMO

We present a highly integrated point-of-care testing (POCT) device capable of immediately and accurately screening bovine mastitis infection based on somatic cell counting (SCC). The system primarily consists of a homemade cell-counting chamber and a miniature fluorescent microscope. The cell-counting chamber is pre-embedded with acridine orange (AO) in advance, which is simple and practical. And then SCC is directly identified by microscopic imaging analysis to evaluate the bovine mastitis infection. Only 4 µL of raw bovine milk is required for a simple sample testing and accurate SCC. The entire assay process from sampling to result in presentation is completed quickly within 6 min, enabling instant "sample-in and answer-out." Under laboratory conditions, we mixed bovine leukocyte suspension with whole milk and achieved a detection limit as low as 2.12 × 104 cells/mL on the system, which is capable of screening various types of clinical standards of bovine milk. The fitting degrees of the proposed POCT system with manual fluorescence microscopy were generally consistent (R2 > 0.99). As a proof of concept, four fresh milk samples were used in the test. The average accuracy of somatic cell counts was 98.0%, which was able to successfully differentiate diseased cows from healthy ones. The POCT system is user-friendly and low-cost, making it a potential tool for on-site diagnosis of bovine mastitis in resource-limited areas.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: National standardized training for resident doctors (STRD) in mainland China has been formally established since 2014 as a kind of postgraduate education. The purpose of this survey was to assess the satisfaction of the training residents in Guangdong Province on the ophthalmology STRD program after a duration of 5 years. METHOD: A 48-item survey was sent to all postgraduate ophthalmology residents from bases in Guangdong Province to inquire about their attitude towards the program. The survey contained questions about demographic and work-related information, job satisfaction, psychological resilience, and job performance. All responses were verified, and invalid questionnaires were excluded. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS software version 22.0 (SPSS, Inc., Chicago, IL). Multiple logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate the factors (demographic information, working environment, clinical exposure, supervision and hands-on training opportunities, and involvement in academic activities) impacting the overall satisfaction. P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS: A total of 471/635 (74.17%) valid questionnaires were returned from all the STRD bases of Guangdong Province, which included 38 hospitals. 60.3% of the respondents reported overall satisfaction with their training. The satisfaction with operative teaching (60.7%) was slightly lower than the other settings of teaching experience (above 65%). Meanwhile, the satisfaction on different secessions of operative experience was all below 70%, of which in the areas of cornea and orbit were 55.42% and 57.53%, respectively. Some potential factors were found to affect general satisfaction, including the training grade, marriage, working time, income level, the doctor-patient relationship, family members working as doctors, the time proportion spent on writing medical documents during clinical work, and the frequency of attending academic meetings. Improvement was observed in both performing and reporting clinical examinations in the last year of training in comparison to the first year. Finally, 82.8% of the residents acknowledged this training was helpful for future clinical work. The first five career preferences for residents were cataract (67.1%), refractive surgery (42.3%), vitreo-retina (36.5%), optometry (28.7%), and oculoplastic (27.2%). CONCLUSION: Ophthalmology residents in Guangdong Province expressed comparable satisfaction with the STRD program. To further improve satisfaction, factors such as resident subsidy, harmonious marriage, the patient-doctor relationship, and chances of attending academic conferences should be emphasized.

RESUMO

Due to the complexity of the automobile manufacturing process, some flexible and delicate assembly work relies on manual operations. However, high-frequency and high-load repetitive operations make assembly workers prone to physical fatigue. This study proposes a method for evaluating human physical fatigue for the manual assembly of automobiles with methods: NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health), OWAS (Ovako Working Posture Analysis System) and RULA (Rapid Upper Limb Assessment). The cerebral oxygenation signal is selected as an objective physiological index reflecting the human fatigue level to verify the proposed physical fatigue evaluation method. Taking auto seat assembly and automobile manual assembly as an example, 18 group experiments were carried out with the ARE platform (Augmented Reality-based Ergonomic Platform). Furthermore, predictions of metabolic energy expenditure were performed for experiments in Tecnomatix Jack. Finally, it is concluded that the proposed physical fatigue evaluation method can reflect the human physical fatigue level and is more accurate than the evaluation of metabolic energy consumption in Tecnomatix Jack because of the immersion that comes with the AR devices and the precision that comes with motion capture devices.

RESUMO

The present study aimed to explore whether creatine promotes the repair of peripheral nerve injury and its possible mechanism. In vitro: RAW264.7 cells were used to investigate the role of proteins related to the JAK2/STAT1 pathway in the polarization of macrophages treated with creatine. In vivo: A sciatic nerve crush model was used. After the injury, IL-4 or creatine was injected. The recovery of motor function was assessed by the rotarod test and sciatic function index at 2, 6, 10, and 16 days after injury. At 16 days after injury, the ultrastructure of the nerve tissue was observed under a transmission electron microscope. Immunostaining were performed at 4 and 16 days to investigate the expression levels of macrophage-related markers as well as the distribution of macrophages after injury. Compared with the IFN-γ group, the group pretreated with creatine showed a significant decrease in p-JAK2 and p-STAT1 in vitro. The motor function of mice in the creatine group (CR1) and creatine 4 days group (CR2) was significantly improved compared to the control group (CON). The improvement in the CR2 group was more significant. Immunostaining showed that infiltrating macrophages mainly comprised M1 macrophages in the CON group and M2 macrophages in the CR group. Our study shows that creatine promotes the repair of peripheral nerve injury by affecting macrophage polarization, possibly through decreasing M1 polarization by inhibiting the JAK2/STAT1 pathway.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Early prediction of persistent organ failure (POF) is crucial for patients with acute pancreatitis (AP). Growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF15), also known as macrophage inhibitory cytokine 1 (MIC-1), is associated with inflammatory responses. We investigated changes in plasma GDF15 and assessed its predictive value in AP. METHODS: The study included 290 consecutive patients with AP admitted within 36 h after symptoms onset. Clinical data obtained during hospitalization were collected. Plasma GDF15 levels were determined using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. The predictive value of GDF15 for POF was analyzed. RESULTS: There were 105 mild, 111 moderately severe, and 74 severe AP patients. Plasma GDF15 peak level were measured on admission, and significantly declined on the 3rd and 7th day. Admission GDF15 predicted POF and mortality with areas under the curve (AUC) of 0.847 (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.798-0.895) and 0.934 (95% CI 0.887-0.980), respectively. Admission GDF15, Bedside Index of Severity in Acute Pancreatitis, and hematocrit were independent factors for POF by univariate and multivariate logistic regression, and the nomogram built on these variables showed good performance (optimism-corrected c-statistic = 0.921). The combined predictive model increased the POF accuracy with an AUC 0.925 (95% CI 0.894-0.956), a net reclassification improvement of 0.3024 (95% CI: 0.1482-0.4565, P < 0.001), and an integrated discrimination index of 0.11 (95% CI 0.0497-0.1703; P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Plasma GDF15 measured within 48 h of symptom onset could help predict POF and mortality in AP patients.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The goals and approaches to fluid therapy vary through different stages of resuscitation. This pilot study was designed to test the safety and feasibility of a fluid therapy protocol for the second or optimisation stage of resuscitation in patients with predicted severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). METHODS: Spontaneously breathing patients with predicted SAP were admitted after initial resuscitation and studied over a 24-h period in a tertiary hospital ward. Objective clinical assessment (OCA; heart rate, mean arterial pressure, urine output, and haematocrit) was done at 0, 4, 8, 12, 18-20, and 24 h. All patients had mini-fluid challenge (MFC; 250 ml intravenous normal saline within 10 min) at 0 h and repeated at 4 and 8 h if OCA score ≥2. Patients who were fluid responsive (>10% change in stroke volume after MFC) received 5-10 ml/kg/h, otherwise 1-3 ml/kg/h until the next time point. Passive leg raising test (PLRT) was done at each time point and compared with OCA for assessing volume status and predicting fluid responsiveness. RESULTS: This fluid therapy protocol based on OCA, MFC, and PLRT and designed for the second stage of resuscitation was safe and feasible in spontaneously breathing predicted SAP patients. The PLRT was superior to OCA (at 0 and 8 h) for predicting fluid responsiveness and guiding fluid therapy. CONCLUSIONS: This pilot study found that a protocol for intravenous fluid therapy specifically for the second stage of resuscitation in patients with predicted SAP was safe, feasible, and warrants further investigation.

RESUMO

The periorbital area tends to be the first and most visible facial part where senility occurs and therefore is of great concern. Various blepharoplasty incisions are applied to correct upper eyelid dermatochalasis. In this study, we applied and evaluated the shortened infrabrow excision blepharoplasty (sIBEB) combined with the removal of the orbicularis oculi muscle to achieve more satisfactory effects. This retrospective study included 40 women who underwent sIBEB treatment at the Plastic Surgery Hospital of Beijing between February 2019 and June 2021. Preoperative and postoperative photographs, complications, objective Strasser system, and self-assessed subjective evaluations by the patient (on a scale of 1-10) were used to assess the results of the procedure. During the follow-up (6-16 mo; average, 12 mo), all 40 patients (age, 26-68 y; 47±9.44 y) presented effective correction of the dermatochalasis. The objective Strasser evaluation showed that all patients had a score of 0 to 4, and the subjective feedback revealed that 37 patients (92.5%) scored the procedure 9/10, indicating high satisfaction. No complications were detected, and repair surgery was not required in any patient. The application of a shortened incision enables the surgeon to accurately locate the excision area, resulting in less visible scars. Furthermore, removal of the orbicularis oculi muscle allows for the sagittal lifting of the superficial musculoaponeurotic system layer, adjusting the swelling and sagging appearance. The modified sIBEB may achieve more effective, sustainable, and satisfactory outcomes.

RESUMO

ABSTRACT: Reconstruction of peripheral nerve injury remains a challenge for clinical medicine. Previous reports have confirmed that external oblique muscle-fabricated nerve conduit (EMC) could effectively be used to promote peripheral nerve regeneration. In this study, we compared between conduits fabricated from fresh muscle and conduits fabricated from predegenerated muscle for the repair of peripheral nerve defects in a mouse sciatic nerve transection model. We found that the number, diameter, and myelin sheath thickness of the myelinated nerve fibers of the regenerative nerve in the EMC group were larger than those of the predegenerated-EMC (P-EMC) group eight weeks after surgery. The sciatic function index and gastrocnemius wet-weight mass ratio in the EMC group were higher than those in the P-EMC group. The Bcl-2/Bax ratio and the number of Schwann cell nucleus in the proximal nerve stumps in the EMC group were greater than those in the P-EMC group. In conclusion, our results confirmed that the use of fresh skeletal muscle nerve conduit increased the Bcl-2/Bax ratio and promoted the survival of Schwann cells of the proximal nerve stump compared with that of predegenerated skeletal muscle nerve conduits, thus achieving better functional recovery after sciatic nerve defect.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Adipose browning occurs after white fat transfer. But its location and effects on fat graft survival remains controversial. This study was performed to locate the browning of fat grafts, and to explore the effects of quercetin on fat graft browning and fat graft survival. METHODS: Human fat granules were injected into the subcutaneous layer of 12 nude mice. Control group was injected with fat granules and 10% of normal saline, while quercetin group was injected with fat granules and 10% of quercetin. The graft samples (n = 6 for each group) were obtained in weeks 2, 4, 8 and 12. Weight retention rate of the grafts was calculated. Gene and protein expression of mitochondrial markers (silent information regulator 1, SIRT1; heat shock protein 60, HSP60), browning marker (uncoupling protein 1, UCP1), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ (PPAR-γ), vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A) were evaluated. Hematoxylin and eosin staining and anti-UCP1 staining were performed. RESULTS: Clusters of small multilocular beige adipocytes were observed in the periphery of fat grafts. Compared with control group, quercetin group had a higher weight retention rate, a higher gene/protein expression of SIRT1, HSP60, UCP1, PPAR-γ and VEGF-A, and a higher occurrence of peripheral adipose browning. CONCLUSIONS: Peripherally located adipose browning occurred after white fat transfer. It can be enhanced by the addition of quercetin through promoting mitochondrial function of fat cells, and may be one of the mechanisms that quercetin improves fat graft survival. RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: In this study, we investigate the biological characteristics of ADSCs from the liposuction area in patients with hemifacial atrophy in vitro. METHODS: ADSCs were respectively extracted from the donor site of patients with hemifacial atrophy and healthy ones. ADSCs of two groups were respectively tested for proliferation ability, phenotype, multipotency, migration ability, self-repair ability, apoptosis, and autophagy. Exosomes extracted from the supernatant of two groups were detected by NTA particle size, electron microscopy (TEM), and WB for CD63 and TSG10, respectively. RESULTS: CCK-8 showed a statistically less increase in cell proliferation in PHA-ADSCs after the sixth day. ADSCs in both groups had typical phenotypes and multidirectional abilities. PHA-ADSCs exhibited weaker droplet formation. The cell migration ability in PHA-ADSCs was weaker tested by Transwell assay. The live/dead proportion calculated by ImageJ following calcein-AM/PI double staining revealed live cells in PHA-ADSCs was 46.11% compared with 54.21% in NORM-ADSCs after OGD treatment. A significant down-regulation of ATG7 and ATG12 and a higher percentage of apoptosis were found in PHA-ADSCs. A significant up-regulation of BAX occurred in PHA-ADSCs.ARPC5 expression in the PHA group was extremely distinct down-regulated.CDKN1A and CDKN2A expression in the PHA group was significantly up-regulated.WB analyses confirmed that both groups' ADSCs-Exosomes surface markers CD63 and TSG101 were positively expressed but varied significantly. CONCLUSIONS: PHA-ADSCs exhibited a poorer proliferation ability, higher apoptosis percentage, weaker lipid droplets formation, weaker cell migration, poorer intolerance to OGD, aging earlier, and weaker self-renewal and repairability.PHA-ADSCs-Exosomes showed low expressions of CD63 and TSG101.This study provides strong evidence that the addition of exosomes with specific cytokines can improve the fat survival rate after fat filling in patients with hemifacial atrophy. RESUMO

The roots of Taraxacum kok-saghyz Rodin (TKS) are well-known and valued for their rubber-producing ability. Therefore, research on the analysis and detection of metabolites from the roots of TKS have been reported in previous studies. However, all of these studies have the shortcoming of focusing on only the rubber of TKS, without profiling the other metabolites in a systematic and comprehensive way. Here, the primary and secondary metabolites from the leaves of TKS were investigated using UPLC-ESI-MS/MS, and a total of 229 metabolites were characterized. Carboxylic acid derivatives, fatty acyls, phenols, and organooxygen compounds were found to be the major metabolites of TKS. The transcriptome data indicated that ribosomal, glycolysis/gluconeogenesis, phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, and linoleic acid metabolism genes were significantly differentially expressed. This study is the first to report the differences in the metabolic and transcriptome profiles of TKS leaves under exogenous ethephon spray, which improves our understanding of the main metabolites and their molecular mechanisms in TKS leaves.

RESUMO

The flower bud of Panax notoginseng (PNF) consumed as a tonic shows potential in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. To identify the contained multi-components and, in particular, to clarify which components can be absorbed and what metabolites are transformed, unveiling the effective substances of PNF is of vital significance. A unique ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography/ion mobility quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UHPLC/IM-QTOF-MS) profiling approach and efficient data processing by the UNIFITM bioinformatics platform were employed to comprehensively identify the multi-components of PNF and the related metabolites in the plasma of rats after oral administration (at a dose of 3.6 g/kg). Two MS2 data acquisition modes operating in the negative electrospray ionization mode, involving high-definition MSE (HDMSE) and data-dependent acquisition (DDA), were utilized aimed to extend the coverage and simultaneously ensure the quality of the MS2 spectra. As a result, 219 components from PNF were identified or tentatively characterized, and 40 thereof could be absorbed. Moreover, 11 metabolites were characterized from the rat plasma. The metabolic pathways mainly included the phase I (deglycosylation and oxidation). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report that systematically studies the in vivo metabolites of PNF, which can assist in better understanding its tonifying effects and benefit its further development.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Capsular contracture (CC) characterized by excessive fibrosis is one of the most common complications after silicone implant surgery. Verteporfin (VP), an inhibitor of Yes-associated protein 1 (YAP1), has recently been found to reduce the fibrotic process. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to use an in vivo rabbit model to evaluate the efficacy of VP for the prevention of CC. METHODS: Twenty-four New Zealand rabbits received 10-cc smooth saline silicone implants inserted in the dorsal skin and were randomly divided into 2 groups to receive 2 mL VP (1.5 mg/mL) or 2 mL phosphate-buffered saline solution instillation in the implant pocket. When the animals were killed on Day 60, capsule formation was observed both macroscopically and microscopically. Histologic evaluation included capsule thickness, fibrosis degree, and myofibroblast (α smooth muscle actin positive) content. In addition, the YAP1 expression level was examined by immunofluorescence staining. Transforming growth factor ß1, collagen I, and connective tissue growth factor expression were measured by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction. RESULTS: The VP-treated group exhibited thinner, more transparent capsules and less fibrosis than the control group at 60 days postsurgery (P < 0.05). Moreover, the VP treatment significantly reduced α smooth muscle actin, YAP1, transforming growth factor ß1, collagen I, and connective tissue growth factor expression levels in the capsular tissues (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: VP reduced capsule formation after silicone implantation by inhibiting YAP1-mediated mechanical signaling, thereby attenuating excessive collagen deposition in the rabbit model. This preclinical study may provide a feasible strategy to prevent periprosthetic capsular fibrosis in clinical application.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Early prediction of persistent organ failure (POF) is important for triage and timely treatment of patients with acute pancreatitis (AP). METHODS: All AP patients were consecutively admitted within 48 h of symptom onset. A nomogram was developed to predict POF on admission using data from a retrospective training cohort, validated by two prospective cohorts. The clinical utility of the nomogram was defined by concordance index (C-index), decision curve analysis (DCA), and clinical impact curve (CIC), while the performance by post-test probability. RESULTS: There were 816, 398, and 880 patients in the training, internal and external validation cohorts, respectively. Six independent predictors determined by logistic regression analysis were age, respiratory rate, albumin, lactate dehydrogenase, oxygen support, and pleural effusion and were included in the nomogram (web-based calculator: https://shina.shinyapps.io/DynNomapp/). This nomogram had reasonable predictive ability (C-indexes 0.88/0.91/0.81 for each cohort) and promising clinical utility (DCA and CIC). The nomogram had a positive likelihood ratio and post-test probability of developing POF in the training, internal and external validation cohorts of 4.26/31.7%, 7.89/39.1%, and 2.75/41%, respectively, superior or equal to other prognostic scores. CONCLUSIONS: This nomogram can predict POF of AP patients and should be considered for clinical practice and trial allocation.

RESUMO

Peptide is a compound consisting of 2-50 amino acids, which is intermediate between small molecule and protein. It is characterized by a variety of biological activities, easy absorption, strong specific targeting, and few side effects and has become one of the hotspots in biomedical research in recent years. Chinese medicine contains a large number of peptides. The traditional processing methods such as decocting and boiling can effectively boost peptides to exert their due biological activities. At present, however, the research on Chinese medicinal components in laboratory generally employs high-concentration alcohol extraction method, which may cause the peptides to be ignored in many natural Chinese medicines. Substantial studies have revealed that the peptides in Chinese medicine are important material basis responsible for the traditional efficacy. Based on years of research and literature retrieval, this study put forward the concept of "traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)-peptides", referring to the components consisting of two or more amino acids with molecular weight between small molecules and proteins that can express the efficacy of Chinese medicine. Furthermore, this study also summarized the extraction and separation of TCM-peptides, and structure determination methods and routes, predicted the research prospect of modern research methods of TCM-peptides based on "holistic view" and big data. The artificial intelligence prediction was combined with high-throughput screening technology to improve the discovery efficiency and accuracy of TCM-peptides, and holographic images between TCM-peptides and biological targets were established to provide references for the innovative drug design and related health product development of TCM-peptides based on TCM theories.
