RESUMO

Due to the higher value of deeply-reduced products, electrocatalytic CO2 reduction reaction (CO2 RR) to multi-electron-transfer products has received more attention. One attractive strategy is to decouple individual steps within the complicated pathway via multi-component catalysts design in the concept of tandem catalysts. Here, a composite of Cu@BIF-144(Zn) (BIF = boron imidazolate framework) is synthesized by using an anion framework BIF-144(Zn) as host to impregnate Cu2+ ions that are further reduced to Cu nanoparticles (NPs) via in situ electrochemical transformation. Due to the microenvironment modulation by functional BH(im)3 - on the pore surfaces, the Cu@BIF-144(Zn) catalyst exhibits a perfect synergetic effect between the BIF-144(Zn) host and the Cu NP guest during CO2 RR. Electrochemistry results show that Cu@BIF-144(Zn) catalysts can effectively enhance the selectivity and activity for the CO2 reduction to multi-electron-transfer products, with the maximum FECH4 value of 41.8% at -1.6 V and FEC2H4 value of 12.9% at -1.5 V versus RHE. The Cu@BIF-144(Zn) tandem catalyst with CO-rich microenvironment generated by the Zn catalytic center in the BIF-144(Zn) skeleton enhanced deep reduction on the incorporated Cu NPs for the CO2 RR to multi-electron-transfer products.

RESUMO

O3-type Fe/Mn-based layered oxide cathode materials with abundant reserves have a promising prospect in sodium-ion batteries. However, the electrochemical reversibility of most O3-type Fe/Mn-based oxide cathode materials is still not high enough. Herein, the effect of different Cu contents on the electrochemical properties of O3-NaFe0.50 Mn0.50 O2 materials is systematically investigated. The as-prepared NaFe0.30 Mn0.50 Cu0.20 O2 cathode achieves the synergistic optimization of the interface and bulk phase. It shows superior electrochemical performance, with an initial discharge specific capacity of 114 mAh g-1 at 0.1 C, a capacity retention rate of 94 % after 100 cycles at 0.5 C, and excellent chemical stability in air and water. In addition, the sodium ion full battery based on NaFe0.30 Mn0.50 Cu0.20 O2 cathode and hard carbon anode has a capacity retention rate of 81 % after 100 cycles. This research provides a useful approach for the preparation of low-cost and high-performance O3-type layered cathode materials.

RESUMO

Two unusual nanotube-based boron imidazolate frameworks (BIF-134 and BIF-135) were synthesized by a dual-ligand synthetic strategy under solvothermal conditions. In the structure of BIF-134 ([Co(BH(2-mim)3)(BTC)1/3](HBH(2-mim)3)1/3(NMA); 2-mim = 2-methylimidazole, NMA = N-methylacetamide, and BTC = 1,3,5-benzene tricarboxylate), one part of boron imidazolate ligands participate in the structural skeleton coordination, while another part of boron imidazolate ligands act as guest molecules that are located between adjacent nanotubes, which enhance the stability of the framework by the host-guest interaction and the pore space partition effects. It was found to be highly stable in air, water, organic solvents, and a wide pH range (pH 0-12). However, in the structure of BIF-135 ([Zn(BH(2-mim)3)(CHTC)1/3]; CHTC = 1,3,5-cyclohexanetricarboxylate), all boron imidazolate ligands participate in the structural skeleton coordination; there is no boron imidazolate guest molecule in the pores. The topology of BIF-135 is similar to that of BIF-134 by replacing BTC with CHTC and replacing Co with Zn. Furthermore, the obtained BIFs exhibited third-order nonlinear optical properties and potential optical limiting applications demonstrated by reverse saturable absorption.

RESUMO

This study aims to reveal the effects of different growth patterns and years on the quality of Saposhnikoviae Radix samples. The apparent colors of the powder samples were quantified by a colorimeter, and the total color values(E~*ab) were calculated. The content of prim-O-glucosylcimifugin, cimifugin, 4'-O-ß-D-glucosyl-5-O-methylvisamminol, sec-O-glucosylhamaudol, and 3'-O-angeloylhamaudol in the samples was simultaneously determined by high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC). Cluster analysis, principal component analysis, partial least squares discriminant analysis, and Pearson correlation analysis were performed to analyze the powder chromatic values and the content of 5 components. The results showed that the E~*ab values of the samples were in the order of wild group<multiple-year-old group<one-year-old group. The content of cimifugin, sec-O-glucosylhamaudol, and 3'-O-angeloylhamaudol in the wild group was significantly higher than that in the multiple-year-old and one-year-old groups. The results of multivariate statistical analysis showed that the quality of multiple-year-old group varied greatly. The quality of the multiple-year-old samples was close to that of the wild group and better than that of the one-year-old group. The variable importance in the projection(VIP) values of b~*, 3'-O-angeloylhamaudol content, E~*ab, and L~* were all larger than 1, and that of cimifugin content was close to 1. The E~*ab value was negatively correlated with the content of prim-O-glucosylcimifugin, cimifugin, sec-O-glucosylhamaudol, and 3'-O-angeloylhamaudol, while it had no linear correlation with the 4'-O-ß-D-glucosyl-5-O-methylvisamminol content. The growth patterns and years had different effects on the quality of Saposhnikoviae Radix samples. The chromatic values of Saposhnikoviae Radix and the content of 5 components can be used to evaluate the quality of Saposhnikoviae Radix, and 3'-O-angeloylhamaudol and cinmifugin can be considered as markers for the quality control of Saposhnikovia divaricata during the growing process.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To study the efficacy of different drug treatment regimens in children with streptococcal toxic shock syndrome (STSS). METHODS: Clinical data of children diagnosed with STSS confirmed by bacterial culture and treated in Hunan Children's Hospital and Chenzhou First People's Hospital from January 2009 to April 2023 were retrospectively collected. The efficacy of different drug treatment regimens was analyzed. The children were divided into four groups based on the treatment regimens: standard group (regimens containing penicillin), Group A (carbapenem + glycopeptides/linezolid), Group B (carbapenems, broad-spectrum antibiotics, glycopeptides/linezolid used alone or in combination, excluding the regimens in Group A), and Group C (macrolides/not receiving antimicrobial drugs). RESULTS: A total of 32 cases of STSS were included. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing showed that all strains were sensitive to beta-lactam antibiotics such as ampicillin and vancomycin, while resistant to clindamycin, erythromycin, and tetracycline. There was a statistically significant difference in the efficacy rate among the four groups (P<0.05). The standard group exhibited the highest efficacy rate (100%), while the efficacy rates for Group A, Group B, and Group C were 40%, 40%, and 0%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The use of antimicrobial regimens containing penicillin can improve the therapeutic efficacy of STSS in children.

RESUMO

By enhancing steric hindrance of substituents on the imidazole ring, the fan-shaped molecule of a tridentate boron imidazolate ligand (KBH(2-ipim)3, 2-ipim = 2-isopropylimidazolate) with racemic chirality was obtained. Then, seven novel boron imidazolate frameworks (BIFs) were prepared by mixing KBH(2-ipim)3 ligands with various derivatives of benzene carboxylic acid under solvothermal conditions. All of these seven materials contain a ladder-like zinc-boron-imidazolate chain as a basic building block, and the ligand BH(2-ipim)3- exists in the same handedness in one chain. The structural variations are associated with the position of substituents of the auxiliary ligand. Of particular interest is the spontaneous resolution of BH(2-ipim)3- ligands into two independent enantiomorphous homochiral structures, BIF-131-S and BIF-131-R, which contain both a chiral chain and an absolute helix embedded in the nets.

RESUMO

Fundamental understanding of the dependence between the structure and composition on the electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (CO2 RR) would guide the rational design of highly efficient and selective electrocatalysts. A major impediment to the deep reduction CO2 to multi-carbon products is the complexity of carbon-carbon bond coupling. The chemically well-defined catalysts with atomically dispersed dual-metal sites are required for these C-C coupling involved processes. Here, we developed a catalyst (BIF-102NSs) that features Cl- bridged dimer copper (Cu2 ) units, which delivers high catalytic activity and selectivity for C2 H4 . Mechanistic investigation verifies that neighboring Cu monomers not only perform as regulator for varying the reaction barrier, but also afford distinct reaction paths compared with isolated monomers, resulting in greatly improved electroreduction performance for CO2 .

RESUMO

Cantu syndrome (CS) is caused by gain-of-function (GOF) mutations in genes encoding pore-forming (Kir6.1, KCNJ8) and accessory (SUR2, ABCC9) KATP channel subunits. We show that patients with CS, as well as mice with constitutive (cGOF) or tamoxifen-induced (icGOF) cardiac-specific Kir6.1 GOF subunit expression, have enlarged hearts, with increased ejection fraction and increased contractility. Whole-cell voltage-clamp recordings from cGOF or icGOF ventricular myocytes (VM) show increased basal L-type Ca(2+) current (LTCC), comparable to that seen in WT VM treated with isoproterenol. Mice with vascular-specific expression (vGOF) show left ventricular dilation as well as less-markedly increased LTCC. Increased LTCC in KATP GOF models is paralleled by changes in phosphorylation of the pore-forming α1 subunit of the cardiac voltage-gated calcium channel Cav1.2 at Ser1928, suggesting enhanced protein kinase activity as a potential link between increased KATP current and CS cardiac pathophysiology.

RESUMO

Multilayered and porous sodium-doped graphitic carbon nitride (GCN-Na) was prepared and employed to the solid-phase extraction of Sr(II). The sorbent exhibits high adsorption capacity and excellent selectivity for Sr(II). This is due to its small interplanar stacking distance caused by doping with Na(I) which matches the size of Sr(II) better than blank GCN. An original solid-phase extraction method based on GCN-Na coupled with ICP-OES was established for Sr(II), the calibration plots are linear ranging from 0.05-10 mg·kg-1 with the correlation coefficients (R2) above 0.999, the limits of detection are in the range of 0.57-1.52 µg·kg-1 and the preconcentration factor of 80 is achieved using 48 mL sample. It was successfully applied in the extraction and detection of trace Sr(II) in tap water, rice and sea fish. Graphical abstractA multilayer porous sodium(I) doped graphitic carbon nitride nanosheet (GCN-Na) was synthesized and exhibited excellent adsorption capability and selectivity for Sr(II).

RESUMO

Photocatalytic reduction of CO2 to value-added fuel has been considered to be a promising strategy to reduce global warming and shortage of energy. Rational design and synthesis of catalysts to maximumly expose the active sites is the key to activate CO2 molecules and determine the reaction selectivity. Herein, we synthesize a well-defined copper-based boron imidazolate cage (BIF-29) with six exposed mononuclear copper centers for the photocatalytic reduction of CO2 . Theoretical calculations show a single Cu site including weak coordinated water delivers a new state in the conduction band near the Fermi level and stabilizes the *COOH intermediate. Steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence spectra show these Cu sites promote the separation of electron-hole pairs and electron transfer. As a result, the cage achieves solar-driven reduction of CO2 to CO with an evolution rate of 3334 µmol g-1 h-1 and a high selectivity of 82.6 %.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC) is significantly more malignant than other type of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). In this study, we aimed to identify specific global gene expression signatures of TSCC to investigate the more invasive behavior of the deeply infiltrating cancer. METHODS: Using RNA-seq technology, we detected gene expression of 20 TSCCs, 20 matched paratumor tissues, and 10 healthy normal mucosa tissues. Enrichment analysis of gene ontology (GO) and pathway was conducted using online tools DAVID for the dysregulated genes. Additionally, we performed the quantitative real-time RT-PCR (qRT-PCR) to validate the findings of RNA-Seq in 10 samples of TSCC, matched paratumor, and normal mucosa, respectively. RESULTS: We detected 252 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between TSCC and matched paratumor tissue, including 117 up-regulated and 135 down-regulated genes. For comparison between TSCC and normal mucosa, 234 DEGS were identified, consisting of 67 up-regulated and 167 down-regulated genes. For both two comparisons, GO categories of muscle contraction (GO: 0006936), epidermis development (GO: 0008544), epithelial cell differentiation (GO: 0030855), and keratinization (GO: 0031424) were commonly enriched. Altered gene expression affected some cancer-related pathways, such as tight junction. The qRT-PCR validation showed that gene expression patterns of FOLR1, NKX3-1, TFF3, PIGR, NEFL, MMP13, and HMGA2 were fully in concordance with RNA-Seq results. CONCLUSION: Findings in this study demonstrated the genetic and molecular alterations associated with TSCC, providing new clues for understanding the molecular mechanisms of TSCC pathogenesis.

RESUMO

Ginsenosides F4 and Rg6 (GF4 and GRg6), two main active components of steamed notoginseng or red ginseng, are dehydrated disaccharide saponins. In this work, biotransformation of ginsenosides F4 and Rg6 in zebrafish was investigated by qualitatively identifying their metabolites and then proposing their possible metabolic pathways. The prediction of possible metabolism of ginsenosides F4 and Rg6 using zebrafish model which can effectively simulate existing mammals model was early and quickly performed. Metabolites of ginsenosides F4 and Rg6 after exposing to zebrafish for 24 h were identified by Ultraperformance Liquid Chromatography/Quadrupole-Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry. A total of 8 and 6 metabolites of ginsenosides F4 and Rg6 were identified in zebrafish, respectively. Of these, 7 and 5, including M1, M3-M5, M7-M9 and N1 (N5), N2, N4 (N9), N7-N8 were reported for the first time as far as we know. The mechanisms of their biotransformation involved were further deduced to be desugarization, glucuronidation, sulfation, dehydroxylation, loss of C-17 and/or C-23 residue pathways. It was concluded that loss of rhamnose at position C-6 and glucuronidation at position C-3 in zebrafish were considered as the main physiologic and metabolic processes of ginsenosides F4 and ginsenosides Rg6, respectively.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Although coal miners are susceptible to dyslipidaemia owing to their highly risky and stressful working environment as well as unhealthy lifestyle, very few studies have focused on this issue thus far. Therefore, this study investigated the current epidemiological characteristics of dyslipidaemia among Chinese coal miners. METHODS: Demographic, anthropometric, and biochemical data were gathered from 4341 coal miners in China. Dyslipidaemia was diagnosed based on the serum lipid levels. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to assess the related risk factors for dyslipidaemia. RESULTS: The average concentrations of total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) were 5.01 ± 0.93 mmol/L, 1.90 ± 1.72 mmol/L, 1.21 ± 0.35 mmol/L, and 3.15 ± 0.80 mmol/L, respectively. Additionally, 38.08% of participants had a high TC level, 25.84% had a low HDL-C level, 35.08% had a high LDL-C level, and 40.46% had a high TG level. The overall prevalence of dyslipidaemia was 68.28% (95% CI: 66.90-69.66%). Factors associated with dyslipidaemia were age, sex, marital status, monthly family income, type of work, length of service, smoking status, smoking index, drinking status, alcohol consumption per day, elevated fasting glucose, hypertension, obesity and abdominal obesity. CONCLUSIONS: Our study's results indicated a very high prevalence of dyslipidaemia among Chinese coal miners and identified various risk factors for dyslipidaemia.

RESUMO

For predicting the temperature distribution within skin tissue in 980-nm laser-evoked potentials (LEPs) experiments, a five-layer finite element model (FEM-5) was constructed based on Pennes bio-heat conduction equation and the Lambert-Beer law. The prediction results of the FEM-5 model were verified by ex vivo pig skin and in vivo rat experiments. Thirty ex vivo pig skin samples were used to verify the temperature distribution predicted by the model. The output energy of the laser was 1.8, 3, and 4.4 J. The laser spot radius was 1 mm. The experiment time was 30 s. The laser stimulated the surface of the ex vivo pig skin beginning at 10 s and lasted for 40 ms. A thermocouple thermometer was used to measure the temperature of the surface and internal layers of the ex vivo pig skin, and the sampling frequency was set to 60 Hz. For the in vivo experiments, nine adult male Wistar rats weighing 180 ± 10 g were used to verify the prediction results of the model by tail-flick latency. The output energy of the laser was 1.4 and 2.08 J. The pulsed width was 40 ms. The laser spot radius was 1 mm. The Pearson product-moment correlation and Kruskal-Wallis test were used to analyze the correlation and the difference of data. The results of all experiments showed that the measured and predicted data had no significant difference (P > 0.05) and good correlation (r > 0.9). The safe laser output energy range (1.8-3 J) was also predicted. Using the FEM-5 model prediction, the effective pain depth could be accurately controlled, and the nociceptors could be selectively activated. The FEM-5 model can be extended to guide experimental research and clinical applications for humans.

RESUMO

The authors aim to track the distribution of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in large blood vessel of traumatic brain injury -rats through immunohistochemical method and small animal imaging system. After green fluorescent protein (GFP) gene was transfected into 293T cell, virus was packaged and MSCs were transfected. Mesenchymal stem cells containing GFP were transplanted into brain ventricle of rats when the infection rate reaches 95%. The immunohistochemical and small animal imaging system was used to detect the distribution of MSCs in large blood vessels of rats. Mesenchymal stem cells could be observed in large vessels with positive GFP expression 10 days after transplantation, while control groups (normal group and traumatic brain injury group) have negative GFP expression. The vascular endothelial growth factor in transplantation group was higher than that in control groups. The in vivo imaging showed obvious distribution of MSCs in the blood vessels of rats, while no MSCs could be seen in control groups. The intravascular migration and homing of MSCs could be seen in rats received MSCs transplantation, and new angiogenesis could be seen in MSCs-transplanted blood vessels.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between metabolic syndrome (MetS) and physical activity (PA) in different domains among male coal miners of Shanxi Province in China. METHOD: The study was conducted from July 2013 to December 2013. A two-stage stratified cluster sampling method was used. Data regarding the general information of participants were collected by well-trained interviewers. MetS was defined according to IDF criteria. Self-reported PA was obtained with the IPAQ and categorized into three tertiles of intensity levels across occupation, transportation, household, and leisure-time domains. Univariate and multiple logistic regression analysis were applied to compute the odds ratios and their 95% confidence interval (CI). RESULTS: A total of 3076 males aged 18-65 years old were recruited in this cross-sectional study. The prevalence of MetS was 40.5% in the study subjects. The percentages of vigorous-intensity PA in MetS and non-MetS groups were 70.07% and 62.92%, respectively. Participants spent most of their time on occupation (2034 MET-min/w) and transportation (693MET-min/w) domains. Higher-intensity levels in occupation domains were significantly associated with lower risk of MetS (OR: 0.759, 95% CI: 0.633-0.911; OR: 0.627, 95% CI: 0.516-0.762). CONCLUSIONS: Across four types of workers, the relationships between PA domains and MetS were different. For underground and underground auxiliary workers, the negative relationship was found between occupation PA and MetS. For office workers, the negative relationship was found between household PA and MetS. For ground workers, only leisure-time PA had positively related to MetS.

RESUMO

The degeneration of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells in the sub retinal pigment epithelial space and choroid is an initial pathological characteristic for the age-related macular degeneration which is the leading cause of severe vision loss in old people. Moreover, oxidative stress is implicated as a major inducer of RPE cell death. Here, we assessed the correlation between the H2O2-induced RPE cell death and glutamine metabolism. We found under low glutamine supply (20 %), the ARPE-19 cells were more susceptive to H2O2-induced apoptosis. Moreover, the glutamine uptake and the glutaminase (GLS) were suppressed by H2O2 treatments. Moreover, we observed miR-23a was upregulated by H2O2 treatments and overexpression of miR-23a significantly sensitized ARPE-19 cells to H2O2. Importantly, Western blotting and luciferase assay demonstrated GLS1 is a direct target of miR-23a in RPE cells. Inhibition of the H2O2-induced miR-23a by antagomiR protected the RPE cells from the oxidative stress-induced cell death. In addition, recovery of GLS1 expression in miR-23a overexpressed RPE cells rescued the H2O2-induced cell death. This study illustrated a mechanism for the protection of the oxidative-induced RPE cell death through the recovery of glutamine metabolism by inhibition of miR-23a, contributing to the discovery of novel targets and the developments of therapeutic strategies for the prevention of RPE cells from oxidative stress.

RESUMO

A series of 3D neutral boron imidazolate frameworks (BIFs) with octahedral metal centers were synthesized based on the charge-balancing principle. Au-Pd nanoparticles (NPs) with a mean size of 2.12 nm were then successfully obtained and encapsulated in these BIF structures through the simultaneous reduction of Au(3+)/Pd(3+) ions by B-H bonds of tridentate boron ligands. The very small sizes of these Au-Pd NPs are attributed to the pore confinement effect of BIFs. This work not only brings new methodology for the construction of neutral BIFs but also suggests a new strategy for loading smaller-sized bimetallic NPs into BIFs.
