Child malnutrition still constitutes a challenge for professionals, since it has biological and social causes. This paper describes the succeeded experience in the Eat Time Program - a Program that assists children living in Florianopolis who are under nutritional risk and low weight. This research has a descriptive/qualitative character and the participant observation as a tool for collecting data. The new way to manage the Program, based on interdisciplinary intervention recovered the active participation by the families to the Program and increased the link between them and their respective healthcare team. It is highlighted the essential role of the community health workers in monitoring this families and their participation in the Program, since the study demonstrated that is important that all staff worry about the child' problem. In conclusion, healthcare professionals should consider the multidimentional factors involved in the child malnutrition problem and assist families integrally by inquiry of the reality, increasing link and intersectoral articulation in order to protect them.
