RESUMO
The ability of 4 cosmonauts to voluntarily control their physiological parameters during the standing test was evaluated following a series of the adaptive feedback (AF) training sessions. Vegetative status of the cosmonauts during voluntary "relaxation" and "straining" was different when compared with its indices determined before these sessions. In addition, there was a considerable individual variability in the intensity and direction of the AF effects, and the range of parameters responding to AF. It was GCR which was the easiest one for the AF control.

Presented are results of testing the method of adaptive biocontrol during preflight training of cosmonauts. Within the MIR-25 crew, a high level of controllability of the autonomous reactions was characteristic of Flight Commanders MIR-23 and MIR-25 and flight Engineer MIR-23, while Flight Engineer MIR-25 displayed a weak intricate dependence of these reactions on the depth of relaxation or strain.

A moderate degree (R = 0.37-0.45) of correlation between the values of vestibular reactivity, autonomic response, and emotional and personality characteristics was revealed. A conclusion was made that the following features of the background functional organization of the vestibular system, autonomic and emotional and personality characteristics are space sickness predictors: (1) a high coefficient of enhancement of the vestibuloocular reflex (VOR) and its asymmetry with an excess of the physiological norm limits, (2) the presence of depressive manifestations, (3) the impulsive and autistic personality type, and (4) a relative sympathetic deficit and/or increased parasympathetic effects at rest and when engaged in activity. This study is dedicated to an investigation of the role and importance of postradiation disturbances in the permeability of the vascular-tissue barriers (hematoophtalmic, hematolabyrinth, and hematoliquor) in the origination of neuroreflectory expressions during the early period of acute radiation sickness. The results of experimental studies suggest a correlation between disturbances in the permeability of the vascular-tissue barriers and clinical expressions of the primary postradiation response. The reduction of postradiation disturbances in the permeability of the vascular-tissue barriers by the agents stabilizing the membrane permeability, e.g., the antioxidant alpha-tocopherol, leads to a decreased primary postradiation response.

Preliminary administration of autogenic blood irradiated in vitro with ionizing radiation in small doses of 0.05, 0.3 or 0.5 Gy resulted in a pronounced increase in the radioresistance of mice [correction of rats] subsequently irradiated in a dose of 9 Gy. The optimum was autotransfusion of blood irradiated in a dose of 0.3 Gy a day or 10 days prior to the total irradiation which increased the survival rate of experimental animals to 80% while, in control groups, the survival rate was only 10%.

After combined exposures to hypokinesia and radiation, hybrid CBA x C57BL mice of the first generation showed a drop in their working capacity as estimated by the rate of swimming through a limited distance. It was found that hypokinesia was a sufficiently strong stressor, no less affecting the working capacity than ionizing radiation in LD50. There was no summation in effects of these irritants with respect to the drop in working capacity.

The increase in the radiation dose from 2.5 to 15 Gy leads to a progressive diminution of the dynamic and static physical work capacity of animals.
