RESUMO
One of the common causes of water pollution is the presence of toxic dye-based effluents, which can pose a serious threat to the ecosystem and human health. The application of Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S. cerevisiae) for wastewater decolorization has been widely investigated due to their efficient removal and eco-friendly treatments. This review attempts to create an awareness of different forms and methods of using Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S. cerevisiae) for wastewater decolorization through a systematic approach. Overall, some suggestions on classification of dyes and related environmental/health problems, and treatment methods are discussed. Besides, the mechanisms of dye removal by S. cerevisiae including biosorption, bioaccumulation, and biodegradation and cell immobilization methods such as adsorption, covalent binding, encapsulation, entrapment, and self-aggregation are discussed. This review would help to inspire the exploration of more creative methods for applications and modification of S. cerevisiae and its further practical applications.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the microbial characteristics of coastal waters which are impacted by anthropogenic pollution as well as estimate the health risks associated with exposure to enteric and non-enteric microorganisms during swimming. Fecal indicator bacteria were highly detected in samples. Moreover, pathogenic and opportunistic microorganisms were found, with the highest frequency for Pseudomonas aeruginosa followed by Adenovirus 40/41, Acanthamoeba spp., Salmonella enterica, and Cryptosporidium parvum. The median risk of gastrointestinal illness through ingestion of water was estimated to be above the benchmark value of 0.05 per event recommended by WHO. Cryptosporidium followed by Adenovirus, showed higher illness risks than Salmonella. The potential risks of Acanthamoeba and P. aeruginosa were estimated to be low for both dermal and ocular exposure routes. However, there are uncertainties about the infectious fraction of pathogens existing in coastal waters and the delivered dose of microorganisms from dermal/ocular exposure during recreational activities.

Natural manganese-containing mineral (NMM) was used as a catalyst in heterogeneous catalytic ozonation for 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) degradation. The surface and structural properties of NMM were modified by the hydrothermal aging process and called H-NMM. The catalytic activity of NMM and H-NMM were evaluated for the catalytic ozonation process (COP). The synergistic effect of NMM and H-NMM in ozonation processes for 4-CP degradation under optimal conditions (pH of 7, 1 g/L of NMM and H-NMM, 0.85 mg/min of O3, and 15 min of reaction time) was measured by 3.04 and 4.34, respectively. During the hydrothermal process, Mn4+ and Fe2+ were converted to Mn2+ and Fe3+, which caused better performance of the H-NMM than the NMM. During the catalytic ozonation process, Mn2+ is completely oxidized, which increases the production of Hydroxyl radical (â¢OH). The reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated in the system were identified using radical scavenging experiments. â¢OH, superoxide radical (â¢O2-), and singlet oxygen (1O2) represented the dominant reactive species for 4-CP degradation. The O3/H-NMM process indicated a powerful ability in the mineralization of 4-CP (66.31% of TOC degradation). H-NMM exhibited excellent stability and reusability in consecutive catalytic cycles, and the NMM exhibited desirable performance. This study offers NMM and H-NMM as effective, stable, and competitive catalysts for hastening and enhancing the ozonation process to mitigate environmentally related pollutants of high concern.

Modelling the fate of micropollutants in different wastewater treatment processes is of present concern. Moreover, during the last few years, there has been an increasing interest in the development of hybrid reactors which contain both suspended biomass and biofilm. Here, a new model developed which tries to determine the fate of micropollutants in hybrid reactors such as moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) and called the ASM-biofilm-MPs model considered the main mechanisms leading to the micropollutant removal (sorption/desorption, biodegradation, cometabolism) in hybrid reactors. This dynamic model describes the fate of micropollutants in a hybrid reactor using first-order kinetics for biotransformation and sorption/desorption equations. Also, it considered the reactions for carbon oxidation, nitrification, and denitrification in attached and suspended biomass under aerobic conditions. The mathematical model consists of three connected models for the simulation of micropollutants, suspended biomass, and biofilm. Biochemical conversions are evaluated according to the Activated Sludge Model No. 1 (ASM1) for both attached and suspended biomass. The model is applied for a laboratory MBBR, which fed with synthetic wastewater containing 4-nonylphenol (4-NP) as micropollutant, and accurately describes the experimental concentrations of COD, attached and suspended biomass, nitrogen, and 4-NP micropollutant obtained during 180 days working at different loadings. The differences between simulations and experiments in all operational periods for sCOD, NH4-N, NO3-N, and attached and suspended biomass concentrations were less than 15%, 10%, 10%, 5% and 5%, respectively. Finally, the contribution of adsorption and biodegradation mechanisms in the fate of 4-NP was calculated, when 4-NP concentration is set to 1 µg/L (biodegradation = 86.5%, sorption = 5%) and 50 µg/L (biodegradation = 55.9%, sorption = 34.7%).

Infantile methemoglobinemia, thyroid disorders, and probably some carcinogenic effects are health concerns associated with dietary nitrate. Isfahan province has a dry and semi-arid desert climate such that the main source of various applications in this province is groundwater resources. This study evaluated spatial analysis of the groundwater NO3- concentrations and its possible health risk to residents. Method 8171 Hach was used for nitrate measurement of 1319 groundwater samples from March 2018 to February 2019. Non-carcinogenic risk due to NO3- exposure through consumption of drinking water was assessed, and the associated zoning maps were presented using geographic information system (GIS). Nitrate concentrations in the rural and urban areas were within 0.4-137 mg/L NO3- and 2.9-209 mg/L NO3-, respectively. Also, 226 (25%) and 104 (24%) of samples in the rural and urban areas, respectively, were detected above the Iran and WHO guideline NO3- values of 50 mg/L. The highest levels of NO3-, which were found in the western and central groundwater resources, occurred in the agricultural and residential areas. The NO3- concentrations were higher in urban than rural areas in the many studied counties. Also, nitrate was higher in wet seasons than in dry ones. Infants' non-carcinogenic risks were higher than the other groups. Infants (HQ > 1) were the most vulnerable group compared with the other groups in some counties. Thus, there are potential risks of methemoglobinemia, especially for infants. It is critical to adopt specific strategies to reduce the nitrate concentration in the studied groundwater.

Phthalates or phthalic acid esters (PAEs) are a group of compounds which they can be entered into the human body through the various pathways. The aim of this study was to examine associations between prenatal phthalates exposure with anthropometric measures of neonates. Urine samples were obtained from 121 Iranian pregnant women at their first trimester of pregnancy, and the levels of monobutyl phthalate (MBP), mono-benzyl phthalate (MBzP), mono-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (MEHP), and mono (2-ethyl-5hydroxyhexyl) phthalate (MEHHP) metabolites were determined by gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC/MS). The correlations between the maternal urinary concentrations of phthalate metabolites with anthropometric measures of neonates as well as with the socio-demographic factors of participants (maternal education, age, family income, pre-pregnancy body mass index), their lifestyle variables (smoking habit, food pattern, and physical activity), and use of cleaning products (cosmetic and household cleaning products) were investigated. MBzP, MBP, MEHP, and MEHHP were detected in 100% of the participants with the concentration ranged 120 to 860 µg/g creatinine. Significant correlations were observed between the urinary levels of maternal MBzP (adjusted ß = 0.3 (0.001), p = 0.03) and MEHHP (adjusted ß = 0.3 (0.001), p = 0.04) with the birth weight of female neonates. MBP (adjusted ß = -0.3 (0.02), p = 0.04) and MBzP (adjusted ß = -0.3 (0.001), p = 0.02) had negative associations with the head circumference in male and female newborns, respectively. Furthermore, plastic packaging for pickle and passive smoking during pregnancy were identified to be significantly associated with low birth weight (p value < 0.05). Iranian pregnant women had higher concentrations of urinary phthalates compared to the other countries. Based on the findings, the higher prenatal exposure to phthalates could adversely impact the health status of newborns.

Mixed culture sludge has been widely used as a microbial consortium for biohydrogen production. Simple thermal treatment of sludge is usually required in order to eliminate any H2-consuming bacteria that would reduce H2 production. In this study, thermal treatment of sludge was carried out at various temperatures. Electron flow model was then applied in order to assess community structure in the sludge upon thermal treatment for biohydrogen production. Results show that the dominant electron sink was acetate (150-217 e- meq/mol glucose). The electron equivalent (e- eq) balances were within 0.8-18% for all experiments. Treatment at 100⯰C attained the highest H2 yield of 3.44â¯mol H2/mol glucose from the stoichiometric reaction. As the treatment temperature increased from 80 to 100⯰C, the computed acetyl-CoA and reduced form of ferredoxin (Fdred) concentrations increased from 13.01 to 17.34 e- eq (1.63-2.17â¯mol) and 1.34 to 4.18 e- eq (0.67-2.09â¯mol), respectively. The NADH2 balance error varied from 3 to 10% and the term e-(FdâNADH2) (m) in the NADH2 balance was NADH2 consumption (mâ¯=â¯-1). The H2 production was mainly via the Fd:hydrogenase system and this is supported with a good NADH2 balance. Using the modified Gompertz model, the highest maximum H2 production potential was 1194â¯mL whereas the maximum rate of H2 production was 357â¯mL/h recorded at 100⯰C of treatment.

Hydrogen gas (H2) is the cleanest energy carrier with 142â¯kJ/g energy content and without toxic byproducts release during combustion. There is interest to H2 production by biological process from sustainable resources including municipal and industrial wastewater and also solid waste. Here, we describe the biohydrogen production that involves first survey the effect of alkalinity on biohydrogen production based on stoichiometric reaction, followed by the electron equivalent balances determination and examination of prediction capability of Gamperts model for biohydrogen production. â¢The method uses a dark fermentation biological process for H2 production from wastewater.â¢As the influent alkalinity increased, the hydrogen production increased and then promptly descended.â¢The predicted gas volume, based on Gamperts model confirmed good agreement with experimental value.
RESUMO
Recently, increasing evidences have shown that the exposure to phthalates can adversely affect health status of pregnant women and their newborns. However, only a limited number of studies have investigated the concentrations of these compounds in the body fluids of pregnant women. In the present study, we aimed to evaluate the concentrations of phthalate metabolites in urinary samples of pregnant women in correlation with the population characteristics and different lifestyle factors. The study was conducted in 2018-2019 and urinary samples were taken from 121 pregnant women during their first pregnancy trimester who lived in Isfahan, Iran. The concentrations of monobutyl phthalate (MBP), mono-benzyl phthalate (MBzP), mono-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (MEHP), and mono (2-ethyl-5hydroxyhexyl) phthalate (MEHHP) metabolites in urinary samples were determined by gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC/MS). The socio-demographic profile of the participants (maternal education, age, family income, pre-pregnancy BMI), their lifestyle information (smoking habit, food pattern, and physical activity), cleaning products use data (cosmetic and household cleaning products) were collected by the use of PERSIAN birth cohort questionnaire. MBzP, MBP, MEHP, and MEHHP were detected in 100% of participated pregnant women with the mean concentration of 342.5 ± 193.8, 308.5 ± 229.4, 126.5 ± 118.3, and 866.5 ± 307.6 µg/g creatinine, respectively. Significant correlations were observed between the mean concentration of urinary phthalate metabolites with the following variables: using plastic packaging (for bread, lemon juice, pickle, leftover, and water), lower physical activity, passive smoking exposure during pregnancy (p value<0.05). Furthermore, the pre-pregnancy BMI (r = 0.27, r = 0.3, r = 0.26, and r = 0.26), use of the household cleaning products (r = 0.2, r = 0.22, r = 0.3, and r = 0.26), utilize of the cosmetic products (r = 0.46, r = 0.48, r = 0.49, and r = 0.54), and passive smoking status (r = 0.5, r = 0.44, r = 0.44, and r = 0.26) directly correlated with the urinary concentrations of MBP, MBzP, MEHP, and MEHHP, respectively. No significant association was seen between the concentration of urinary phthalate metabolites with the maternal education level and family income. According to our findings, higher amounts of phthalate metabolites were detected in urinary samples of pregnant women who were passive smokers, or had higher pre-pregnancy BMI and lower physical activity, as well as those women who used higher amounts of cosmetic and household cleaning products, or used plastic packaging for food and non-food products.

Contamination of environment, especially soil, is in great concern and can cause health problems. Thus, remediation of these pollutants through environmentally friendly methods should be considered. The aim of this data was bioremediation of TNT from contaminated soil. Two plastic pans were used as bioreactor. In each pan, 3â¯kg of soil was used. Concentration of TNT in contaminated soil was 1000â¯mg/kg. Rhamnolipid in concentration of 60â¯mg/l was added to intended pan. Sampling was done in each two weeks. In order to assessment of TNT degradation, samples were analyzed with HPLC. The data showed that after 154 days of experiment, TNT removal in soil that amended with rhamnolipid was 73% and in experiment with no addition of rhamnolipid was 58%. Based on the obtained data rhamnolipid was effective in remediation of TNT contaminated soil.
RESUMO
Removal of pharmaceutical ingredients such as tetracycline from aqueous solution has a great importance. The aim of the current study was to investigate the degradation of tetracycline antibiotic in the presence of a triode semiconductor oxide as well as modeling of the photocatalytic degradation process in order to determine optimal condition Zinc stannate nanoflower (Zn2SnO4) was synthesized by hydrothermal process and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques. Response surface methodology (RSM) was used to model and optimize four key independent variables, including photocatalyst dosage, initial concentration of tetracycline antibiotic (TC) as model pollutant, pH and reaction time of photocatalytic degradation. The proposed quadratic model was in accordance with the experimental results with a correlation coefficient of 98%. The obtained optimal experimental conditions for the photodegradation process were the following: zinc stannate (ZTO) dosage=300â¯mgâ¯L-1, initial concentration of TC= 10â¯mgâ¯L-1, reaction time= 100â¯min and pH=4.5. Under the optimal conditions, the predicted degradation efficiency was 95.45% determined by the proposed model. In order to evaluate the accuracy of the optimization procedure, the confirmatory experiment was carried out under the optimal conditions and the degradation efficiency of 93.54% was observed, which closely agreed with the predicted value.
RESUMO
BACKGROUND: Due to depletion of fossil fuel reserves, global warming, and the need for energy efficiency, the new energy resource is required. For this purpose, hydrogen can be considered as clean and efficient energy carrier. In this study, biohydrogen production from physical pretreated mixed culture was investigated. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this study, the optimal conditions for physical pretreatment of mixed culture were investigated for the enrichment of hydrogen-producing bacteria (HPB). Three individual pretreatment processes, including thermal, ultraviolet (UV) radiation, and ultrasonication (US) were conducted in batch tests. The batch tests were carried out via 500 mL glass flasks with working volume 400 mL. Glucose was used as sole substrate, and other essential nutrient and trace elements were added. To agitation of substrate with HPB inoculum, the magnet stirrer was used at 60 rpm. RESULTS: The results showed the production of H2 gas could be increased by appropriate pretreatment methods including thermal pretreatment at 100°C. At 100°C as a pretreatment, the volume of H2 gas was 112.25 mL and followed by US (97.46 mL), UV (89.11 mL), 80°C (72.72 mL), 90°C (53.95 mL), and 70°C (26.01 mL). In the pretreatment methods, the solution pH and effluent soluble chemical oxygen demand was 6.3-6.7 and 5100-8300 mg/L, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The Gompertz model depicts that all R2 values were more than 0.93, indicating that the fitted curves were best fitted with the experimental points.
RESUMO
BACKGROUND: Hydrogen gas is the cleanest energy carrier and could be produced by biological process. Dark fermentation is one of the biohydrogen production methods that carried out just on organic wastes conversion. METHODS: In this study, the batch tests were conducted to compare the biohydrogen production and glucose fermentation via acetate-butyrate and acetate-ethanol metabolic pathway induced by NaOH and KOH (10 M) pretreatment. In batch test, the glucose concentration in the feed was varied from 3.75 to 15 g/L under mesophilic conditions (37°C ± 1°C). In order to sludge pretreatment, NaOH and KOH (as an alkaline agent) was used. RESULTS: Batch tests showed that maximum biohydrogen production under NaOH (2.7 ± 0.5 L) and KOH (2.2 ± 0.7 L) pretreatment was achieved at 15 g/L of influent glucose. In the batch test, with increasing influent glucose concentration, the lower yields of hydrogen were observed. The biohydrogen reactions had good electron closure (5.2%-13.5%) for various glucose concentrations and pretreatments. For NaOH and KOH pretreatment, the biohydrogen yield decreased from 2.49 to 1.63 and from 2.22 to 1.2 mol H2/mol glucose, respectively, when glucose concentration increased from 3.75 to 15 g/L. CONCLUSIONS: By applying alkaline sludge pretreatment by NaOH and KOH, the glucose fermentation was followed with acetate-butyrate and acetate-ethanol metabolic pathway, respectively. The lower biohydrogen yields were observed under acetate-ethanol metabolic pathway and related to metabolically unfavorable for biohydrogen production.
RESUMO
Fluoride (F) contamination in groundwater can be problematic to human health. This study evaluated the concentration of fluoride in groundwater resources of Isfahan Province, the central plateau of Iran, and its related health issues to the inhabitant populations. For this purpose, 573 drinking groundwater samples were analyzed in 2016 by using the spectrophotometric method. Non-carcinogenic health risks due to F exposure through consumption of drinking water were assessed using the US EPA method. In addition, the associated zoning maps of the obtained results were presented using geographic information system (GIS). The results indicated that F content in drinking water ranged from 0.02 to 2.8 mg/L. The F contents were less than 0.50 mg/L in 63% of the drinking groundwater samples, 0.51-1.5 mg/L in 33.15%, and higher than 1.5 mg/L in 3.85% (Iran and World Health Organization guidelines) of the drinking groundwater samples. The F levels in the west and the south groundwater resources of the study areas were lower than 0.5 mg/L, which is within the recommended values for controlling dental caries (0.50-1.0 mg/L). Therefore, these places require more attention and more research is needed to increase F intake for health benefit. The HQ index for children, teens and male and female adults had health hazards (HQ > 1) in 51, 17, 28, and 18 of samples, respectively. Groundwater resources having a risk of more than one were located in the counties of Nayin, Natanz, and Ardestan. So, in these areas, there are potential risks of dental fluorosis. The most vulnerable groups were children. The F levels must be reduced in this region to decrease endemic fluorosis.

BACKGROUND: This study investigated the effect of organic loading rate (OLR) and NaCl concentration on biohydrogen production by preheated anaerobic sludge in a lab scale anaerobic sequencing batch reactor (ASBR) fed with glucose during long time operation. METHODS: During ASBR operation, the OLR was increased in steps from 0.5 to 5 g glucose/L.d and NaCl addition started at an OLR of 5 g glucose/L.d, to obtain NaCl concentrations in the reactor in the range of 0.5-30 g/L. RESULTS: With an increasing OLR from 0.5 to 5 g glucose/L.d, the biohydrogen yield increased and reached 0.8 ± 0.4 mol H2/mol glucose at an OLR of 5 g glucose/L.d. A NaCl concentration of 0.5 g/L resulted in a higher yield of biohydrogen (1.1 ± 0.2 mol H2/mol glucose). Concentrations above 0.5 g/L NaCl led to decreasing biohydrogen yield and the lowest yield (0.3 ± 0.1 mol H2/mol glucose) was obtained at 30 g/L of NaCl. The mass balance errors for C, H, and O in all constructed stoichiometric reactions were below 5%. CONCLUSIONS: The modified Monod model indicated that r (H2)max and Ccrit values were 23.3 mL H2/g VSS/h and 119.9 g/L, respectively. Additionally, ASBR operation at high concentrations of NaCl shifted the metabolic pathway from acidogenic toward solventogenic.
RESUMO
In this paper, biochemical hydrogen potential (BHP) tests were conducted to investigate H2 production from different substrate with acid-treated anaerobic digested sludge at the mesophilic range. The sludge was collected from an anaerobic digester and was subjected to sulfuric acid pretreatments at pH 3 for 24 h. The effects of substrate type (glucose, fructose, and sucrose as carbon source) were investigated in batch experiments. Results showed that substrate degradation rate for all of the substrates was up 95 % and the electron equivalent balance showed good closure for glucose and sucrose. Batch experiments showed that the maximum molar hydrogen yield with glucose, fructose, and sucrose was 3.27, 3.16, and 6.46 mol H2/mol of substrate. The maximum cumulative biohydrogen production was 1552, 1487, and 1366 mL and maximum hydrogen production rate was 308, 279, and 275 mL/h for glucose, sucrose, and fructose, respectively. The experimental results suggest that the formation of hydrogen associates with the main aqueous products, i.e., acetate butyrate.

Almost all bioassays have been designed only for pH levels around 7; however, some toxicant characteristics may be different at lower pH values. In this study, a modified resazurin reduction method was used to evaluate the toxicity of heavy metals and metal plating wastewater on acid-tolerant (AT) and conventional bacteria at the natural and acidic pH conditions. According to our optimized protocol, resazurin was rapidly reduced by both conventional and AT active microorganisms. Considering the 30-min median effective concentration (30 min EC50) values, conventional bacteria were comparatively more resistant than the acid-tolerant bacteria (ATB) in the case of exposure to Cd, Pb, Cr, and Zn, but the reverse case was found for Hg. After an exposure of 30 min, Cr and Hg showed the highest toxicity to ATB (30 min EC50 values were 0.34 and 17.02 µmol/L, respectively), while Zn and Pb had a considerably lower toxicity. The modified resazurin reduction method successfully assessed the impact of metal plating wastewaters on the activities of conventional and AT bacteria. According to the findings where the wastewaters contain heavy metals, wastewater treatment facilities, which are dependent on ATB activity, should use bioassays at acidic pH values for better understanding of the effects of toxicants.

One of the most important factors that affect the operation efficiency of sequencing batch reactor (SBR) technology is bacterial viability and biomass activity. The acute toxicity of three heavy metals to four dominant strains of sequencing batch reactor (Pseudomonas, Aeromonas, Enterobacter, and Bacillus) was investigated using a resazurin bioassay. After exposing the bacterial strains to soluble compound of Hg, Cd, and Pb, at more than five selected concentrations, the median effective concentration (EC50) and the mortality rate values were calculated. Large differences were observed in sensitivities of the four bacterial strains to the metals. Pseudomonas showed the highest sensitivity for Cd (EC50 = 0.06 µmol/L) and Hg (EC50 = 11.75 µmol/L), while Aeromonas showed the highest sensitivity for Pb (EC50 = 48.27 µmol/L). Considering the EC50 test results, it was concluded that Pseudomonas and Aeromonas are excellent and reliable bioindicators for assessing the toxicity of water and wastewaters polluted by Cd, Hg, and Pb. The rapidity (30 min) and simplicity of the resazurin bioassay procedure enable this enzymatic test to be used in toxicity assessment of small and decentralized wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs).

The objective of this work was to study the evolution of physico-chemical and microbial parameters in the composting process of sewage sludge (SS) with pruning wastes (PW) in order to compare these parameters with respect to their applicability in the evaluation of organic matter (OM) stabilization. To evaluate the composting process and organic matter stability, different microbial activities were compared during composting of anaerobically digested SS with two volumetric ratios, 1:1 and 3:1 of PW:SS and two aeration techniques including aerated static piles (ASP) and turned windrows (TW). Dehydrogenase activity, fluorescein diacetate hydrolysis, and specific oxygen uptake rate (SOUR) were used as microbial activity indices. These indices were compared with traditional parameters, including temperature, pH, moisture content, organic matter, and C/N ratio. The results showed that the TW method and 3:1 (PW:SS) proportion was superior to the ASP method and 1:1 proportion, since the former accelerate the composting process by catalyzing the OM stabilization. Enzymatic activities and SOUR, which reflect microbial activity, correlated well with temperature fluctuations. Based on these results it appears that SOUR and the enzymatic activities are useful parameters to monitor the stabilization of SS compost.

The removal of xylene vapors was studied in a biofilter packed with a new hybrid (scoria/compost) packing material at various inlet loads (IL) and empty bed residence times (EBRT) of 90, 60, and 40s. The best performance was observed for EBRT of 90s, where a removal efficiency of 98% was obtained under steady state condition for inlet xylene concentration of 1.34 g m(-3), while a maximum elimination capacity of 97.5 g m(-3) h(-1) was observed for IL of 199.5 g m(-3) h(-1). Carbon dioxide production rates and the microbial counts for xylene-degraders followed xylene elimination capacities. Overall look to the results of this study indicates that the scoria/compost mixture could be considered as a potential biofilter carrier, with low pressure drop (here <4 mm H2O), to treat air streams containing VOCs.
