RESUMO

The aim of the research is to reveal the cases of Lewis System Antigens Phenotype in West Georgia and setting the connection between antigens expressivness and IHD. Therefore, we have phenotypically tested 393 people (236 healthy donors; average age 42±7,5 and 157 patients ill with ischemic heart diseases; average age 62,5±7,5). In accordance with the findings, the number of Lewis -antigens among healthy population is 46,6% (110 ±4,8; p<0.05) with Lea-b+ phenotype; 30,9% - with Lea-b- phenotype(73±2,9; p<0.03); 19% - with Lea+b- phenotype-(47±1,7; p<0.03) Only 2,6% cases of phenotype Lea+b+ (6±0,2; p<0.02),were revealed among healthy population. As for the patients with ischemic heart diseases we got the following results: 41% cases of Lea-b- phenotype (65±3,9; p<0.05); 32,8% - Lea-b+ (51±3,2; p<0.03); 21,1% - Lea+b- - phenotype 33±2,9; p<0.03) and 5,6% - Lea+b+ phenotype (8±1,2; p<0.02). On the whole, in the West Georgia the most frequent phenotype is Lea-b+ among healthy population and Lea-b- phenotype among people with ischemic heart diseases. Research was carried out in a control group according to Lewis antigen phenotype. People were separated in two groups; I group -healthy people with Lea-b- phenotype and II group - healthy people with Lea-b+ and Lea+b- phenotypes. On the basis of the research we concluded that people in the first group (with Lea-b- phenotype) had a high BMI, arterial hypertension and lower indexes of high density lipoprotein and triglyceride than the people in the second group(with Lea-b+ and Lea+b- phenotypes. These kinds of changes (characterised to the people with Lea-b- phenotype) are associated with a high risk of ischemic diseases and atherosclerosis. To sum up, people with Lea-b- phenotype have a high risk of ischemic heart disease. In accordance with the findings, Lewis phenotype research can be carried out to detect HID and other diseases as well (hypertension, ischemic insult and insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus).

RESUMO

The purpose of the given study was to reveal causal relations between infection of the urino-genital tract by intracellular parasites, the so-called TORCH-infections, and the decrease of spermatogenesis. For observation 182 men of reproductive age (from 22 to 38 years) with oligozoospermia and aspermia, without any complaints or clinical symptoms indicating existence of infections of urino-genital tracts, were selected. Out of those, 131 revealed oligozoospermia, i.e. the quantity of spermatozoons was no higher than 20 mln in 1 ml of ejaculate, and 51 revealed - aspermia. For examination of some TORCH infections, medical doctors in charge directed 44 oligozoospermia patients and 15 aspermia patients, who respectively constituted group I and group II. Examinations were carried out for Chlamydia trachomatis--(Ch.t), Herpes simplex virus--(HSV), Ureaplasma urealiticum--(U.u.), Cytomegalovirus--(CMV), and Mycoplasma hominis--(M.h.). In the group with oligozoospermia, cases of infections by Chlamydias (41.5%) and Herpes virus (51.3%) were frequent, but Ureaplasma (56,5%) was more frequent than any infections. Cytomegalovirus occurred in the least number of cases. Making any conclusions on the frequency of infections by M.h. is difficult due to the low number of examinations. Similar picture was observed in Group II as well. Following successful treatment of infections in Group I, 8 patients with Ch.t. and 8 patients with U.u. showed an improved spermogram after several months. Treatment of other infections did not yield tangible results. In Group II spermatogenesis remained without any changes.

RESUMO

The purpose of the given study was to: - compare quantitative and qualitative indicators of the semen, examined with the use of the special sperm analyzer "SQA IIC-P", as well as through the methods of light microscopy; - and to select the parameters from both types of study, combined application of which would give the most optimal picture of the spermatogenesis of an examined individual. Twenty fertile and 65 childless men in the age range of 20-35 years were examined. Conclusion is given that the sperm analyzer "SQA IIC-P" accurately determines essential parameters of the reproduction function of men, however for targeted treatment it is critical to know a number of parameters, best revealed through microscopic examination of untreated and colored samples of semen. Therefore for obtaining a complete picture it is essential to combine examination of the semen both with the analyzer as well as through the use of microscopic methods.

RESUMO

The aim was the study of the connection of the changes in serum homocysteine concentration with acute myocardium infarction, in order to establish whether the increase in homocysteine concentration is one of the risk-factors in the development of the cardiac insufficiency. The patients with acute myocardial infarction were studied. The following tests were performed: determination of the homocysteine concentration in serum by ELISA; determination of the main characteristics of hemostasis by automatic coagulometer (AMELUNG); determination of lipid spectrum by biochemical analyzer (Johnson & Johnson Vitros DT). The results obtained allowed us to suggest that the changes in the serum homocysteine concentration in patients with myocardial infarction occur in accordance with the changes in the protective mechanisms of the organism, and it may be used for the diagnostics of weakening and strengthening of the processes of arteriosclerosis and thrombosis.

RESUMO

A method of "new liver" growing inside of the recipients' organism as an alternative of the donor organs is presented. Experiments were carried out on the 90 Wistar rats. Animals were divided into 3 equal groups. All of the animals were subjected to 40% hepatectomy. The liver fragments were harvested from resected lobe. The animals of the I group received liver fragments transplantation into the greater omentum pocket, animals of the II group--into the peritoneal cavity and animals of the III group--into the "Kakabadze Biocontainer". All animals were under the standard vivarium conditions and were sacrificed in the different time points. The maximal follow up period was 6 months. Performed investigations have shown that vascularized, denuded segment of small intestine is uncial site for the engraftment and future development of transplanted liver fragments.
