RESUMO

Supramolecular assembly allows multiple chemical/bio-components integrated as one system for cascade biochemical reactions. Herein the graphitic carbon nitrides (g-C3N4) as photocatalyst trapped in a dipeptide hydrogel covering adenosine triphosphate (ATP) synthase accelerates the photophosphorylation through ATP synthesis. Self-assembled N-fluorenylmethoxycarbonyl diphenylalanine (Fmoc-FF) as nanofibrils to allow g-C3N4 nanosheets are embedded as a complex Fmoc-FF/g-C3N4 hydrogel. Fmoc-FF gel exhibits good electronic coupling with g-C3N4, which enables a photo-induced proton generation. The transmembrane proton gradient can be established by ATP synthase-lipid reconstituted on the surface of the Fmoc-FF/g-C3N4 hydrogel to enhance the ATP synthesis. It indicates that the Fmoc-FF/g-C3N4/ATP synthase-lipid film can possess a longer-term ATP production capability and allow repeated immersion for sustained ATP production. Such a hydrogel-supported ATP synthesis platform is achieved by a procedure at a larger scale.

INTRODUCTION: The estimated prevalence of postpartum depression (PPD) worldwide, in China, and Shanghai is 17.2%, 18.0% and 23.2%, respectively. In 2021, Shanghai housed a population of 3.2 million childbearing-age migrant women, most of whom migrated to the city with their husbands for economic reasons. There is a general lack of help-seeking behaviour for mental disorders in China due to the perceived risk of social stigmatisation. In Shanghai, 70% of women did not seek professional help for perinatal mental health problems. We aim to gather information from multiple perspectives, such as the migrant women with PPD and perinatal depression (PND), their caregivers, health service providers and communities, to understand the help-seeking behaviour of postpartum migrant women with PPD or PND in China. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses framework for Scoping Reviews will guide this review. A bilingual research librarian developed a comprehensive search strategy to retrieve published and unpublished English and Chinese studies involving factors influencing women's PPD or PND help-seeking behaviour in China. This literature includes perceptions, views, patterns, acceptance and refusal, tendencies, probability, service accessibility and utilisation, and facts. We will search PubMed, Embase, Web of Science and CINAHL for English literature and CINKI for Chinese literature. Backward and forward snowball approaches will be used to identify additional relevant papers from the reference lists of selected papers. Two independent reviewers will screen the title and abstract and review the full text of selected papers to identify eligible articles for data extraction. We will build a Microsoft Access database to record the extracted data. The results will be presented in tables and a causal map to demonstrate the relationships between extracted variables and help-seeking behaviours for PPD and PND. A conceptual simulation model will be formulated based on the information from the literature to validate the logic of the relationships between variables, identify knowledge gaps and gain insights into potential intervention approaches. Experts and stakeholders will be invited to critique and comment on the results during group model building (GMB) workshops in Shanghai. These comments will be essential to validate the findings, receive feedback and obtain additional insights. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: The literature review component of our study does not require ethical approval because the information and data collected will be obtained from publicly available sources and will not involve human subjects. Our collaborating research partner, International Peach Maternal Child Hospital, obtained the IRB approval (GKLW-A-2023-020-01) for screening and enrolling participants in GMB workshops. Stanford University received IRB approval under protocol number 67 419. The full review will be presented at a relevant conference and submitted to a peer-reviewed scientific journal for publication to report findings.

Tobacco consumption in China remains the primary cause of preventable mortality, with Shanghai being particularly affected by issues related to secondhand smoke exposure. This study explores the role of the public service hotline 12345, a grassroots initiative in Shanghai, in capturing public sentiment and assessing the effectiveness of anti-smoking regulations. Our research aims to accurately and deeply understand the implementation and feedback of smoking control policies: by identifying high-frequency points and prominent issues in smoking control work based on the smoking control work order data received by the health hotline 12320. The results of this study will assist government enforcement agencies in improving smoking monitoring and clarify the direction for improving smoking control measures. Text-mining techniques were employed to analyze a dataset comprising 78011 call sheets, all related to tobacco control and collected from the hotline between 1 January 2015 and 31 December 2019. This methodological approach aims to uncover prevalent themes and sentiments in the public discourse on smoking and its regulation, as reflected in the hotline interactions. Our study identified hotspots and the issues of greatest concern to citizens. Additionally, it provided recommendations to enforcement agencies to enhance their capabilities, optimize the allocation of human resources for smoking control monitoring, reduce enforcement costs and support for anti-smoking campaigns, thereby contributing to more effective tobacco control policies in the region.

Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is a powerful optical technique for non-invasive and label-free bioanalysis of liquid biopsy, facilitating to diagnosis of potential diseases. Neuropsychiatric systemic lupus erythematosus (NPSLE) is one of the subgroups of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) with serious manifestations for a high mortality rate. Unfortunately, lack of well-established gold standards results in the clinical diagnosis of NPSLE being a challenge so far. Here we develop a novel Raman fingerprinting machine learning (ML-) assisted diagnostic method. The microsphere-coupled SERS (McSERS) substrates are employed to acquire Raman spectra for analysis via convolutional neural network (CNN). The McSERS substrates demonstrate better performance to distinguish the Raman spectra from serums between SLE and NPSLE, attributed to the boosted signal-to-noise ratio of Raman intensities due to the multiple optical regulation in microspheres and AuNPs. Eight statistically-significant (p-value <0.05) Raman shifts are identified, for the first time, as the characteristic spectral markers. The classification model established by CNN algorithm demonstrates 95.0% in accuracy, 95.9% in sensitivity, and 93.5% in specificity for NPSLE diagnosis. The present work paves a new way achieving clinical label-free serum diagnosis of rheumatic diseases by enhanced Raman fingerprints with machine learning.

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory respiratory disease. Early-life antibiotic exposure is a unique risk factor for the incidence and severity of asthma later in life. Perturbations in microbial-metabolite-immune interaction caused by antibiotics are closely associated with the pathogenesis of allergy and asthma. We investigated the effect of early intervention with common oral antibiotics on later asthma exacerbations and found that different antibiotic exposures can amplify different types of immune responses induced by HDM. Cefixime (CFX) promoted a biased type 2 inflammation, azithromycin (AZM) enhanced Th17 immune response, and cefuroxime axetil (CFA) induced eosinophils recruitment. Moreover, early-life antibiotic exposure can have short- and long-term effects on the abundance, composition, and diversity of the gut microbiota. In the model of CFX-promoted type 2 airway inflammation, fecal metabolomics indicated abnormal lipid metabolism and T cell response. Lipidomic also suggested allergic airway inflammation amplified by CFX is closely associated with abnormal lipid metabolism in lung tissues. Moreover, abnormalities in lipid metabolism-related genes (LMRGs) were found to have cellular heterogeneity be associated with asthma severity by bioinformatics analysis.

The study aimed to compare the effects of crystalline L-lysine and L-glutamate (CAA), Lys-Glu dipeptide (KE) on the growth and muscle development of grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idellus), and related molecular mechanisms. Five experimental diets (CR, 0.5% CAA, 1.5% CAA, 0.5% KE, 1.5% KE) containing Lys and Glu as free (Lys and Glu, CAA) dipeptide (Lys-Glu, KE) forms were prepared, respectively. A total of 450 juvenile grass carp with an initial weight of 10.69 ± 0.07 g were randomly assigned to 15 cages, and 5 treatments with 3 replicates of 30 fish each for 61 days of feeding. The results showed that the group of 0.5% KE exhibited the best growth performances according to the indicator's weight gain rate (WGR) and specific growth rate (SGR), although no statistically significant occurred among all groups; diet supplemented with 0.5% CAA significantly elevated the condition factor (CF) and viscerasomatic index (VSI) of juvenile grass carp. Diet supplemented with different Lys and Glu co-forms at different levels promoted the muscle amino acid content compared with those of CR group. Comparing with the CR group and other groups, the hardness of 0.5% CAA group significantly increased, and the springiness of 0.5% KE group excelled. Both the muscle fiber diameter and density of 0.5% KE group showed significant difference with those of the CR group, and a negative correlation between them was also observed. To uncover the related molecular mechanism of the differences caused by the different co-forms of Lys and Glu, the effect of different diets on the expressions of protein absorption, muscle quality, and antioxidation-related genes was analyzed. The results suggested that comparing with those of CR group, the dipeptide KE inhibited the expressions of genes associated with protein metabolism, such as AKT, S6K1, and FoxO1a but promoted PCNA expression, while the free style of CAA would improve the FoxO1a expression. Additionally, the muscle development-related genes (MyoD, MyOG, and Myf5) were significantly boosted in CAA co-form groups, and the expressions of fMYHCs were blocked but fMYHCs30 significantly promoted in 0.5% KE group. Finally, the effect of different co-forms of Lys and Glu on muscle antioxidant was examined. The 0.5% CAA diet was verified to increase GPX1a but obstruct Keap1 and GSTP1 expressions, resulting in enhanced SOD activity and reduced MDA levels in plasma. Collectively, the different co-forms of Lys and Glu influenced the growth of juvenile grass carp, and also the muscle development and quality through their different regulation on the protein metabolism, muscle development- and antioxidative-related genes.

Background/objective: Patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) have altered learning rates for rewards and losses in non-social learning paradigms. However, it is not well understood whether the ability to learn from social interactions is altered in MDD patients. Using reinforcement learning during the repeated Trust Game (rTG), we investigated how MDD patients learn to trust newly-met partners in MDD patients. Method: Sixty-eight MDD patients and fifty-four controls each played as 'investor' and interacted with ten different partners. We manipulated both the level of trustworthiness by varying the chance of reciprocity (10, 30, 50, 70 and 90%) and reputation disclosure, where partners' reputation was either pre-disclosed or hidden. Results: Our reinforcement learning model revealed that MDD patients had significantly higher learning rates for losses than the controls in both the reputation disclosure and non-disclosure condition. The difference was larger when reputation was not disclosed than disclosed. We observed no difference in learning rates for gains in either condition. Conclusions: Our findings highlight that abnormal learning for losses underlies the social learning process in MDD patients. This abnormality is higher when situational unpredictability is high versus low. Our findings provide novel insights into social rehabilitation of MDD.

BACKGROUND: More efficient instruments for body constitution identification are needed for clinical practice. We aimed to develop the short-form version of the Constitution in Chinese Medicine Questionnaire (CCMQ) and evaluate for health management. METHODS: First, the short forms were developed through expert survey, classical test theory (CTT), and modern item response (IRT) based on the CCMQ. A combination of e-mail and manual methods was used in expert survey. Then, five indexes of CTT including criteria value-critical ratio, correlation coefficient, discrete tendency, internal consistency, and factor loading were used. And, IRT method was used through analyzing the discrimination and difficulty parameters of items. Second, the three top-ranked items of each constitution scale were selected for the simplified CCMQ, based on the three combined methods of different conditions and weights. Third, The psychometric properties such as completion time, validity (Construct, criterion, and divergent validity), and reliability (test-retest and internal consistency reliability) were evaluated. Finally, the diagnostic validity of the best short-form used receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. RESULTS: Three short-form editions were developed, and retained items 27, 23 and 27, which are named as WangQi nine body constitution questionnaire of Traditional Chinese Medicine (short-form) (SF-WQ9CCMQ)- A, B, and C, respectively. SF-WQ9CCMQ- A is showed the best psychometric property on Construct validity, Criterion validity, test-retest reliability and internal consistency reliability. The diagnostic validity indicated that the area under the ROC curve was 0.928 (95%CI: 0.924-0.932) for the Gentleness constitution scale, and were 0.895-0.969 and 0.911-0.981 for unbalance constitution scales using the cut-off value of the original CCMQ as 40 ("yes" standard) and 30 ("tendency" standard), respectively. CONCLUSIONS: Our study successfully developed a well short-form which has good psychometric property, and excellent diagnostic validity consistent with the original. New and simplified instrument and opportunity are provided for body constitution identification, health management and primary care implementation.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of dietary protein levels on flesh quality, oxidative stress, and autophagy status in the muscles of triploid crucian carp (Carassius carassius triploid), and the related molecular mechanisms. Six experimental diets with different protein levels (26%, 29%, 32%, 35%, 38%, 41%) were formulated. A total of 540 fish with an initial weight of 11.79 ± 0.09 g were randomly assigned to 18 cages and six treatments with three replicates of 30 fish each for 8 weeks feeding. It could be found that the whole-body ash content significantly increased in high protein level groups (p < 0.05). The 29% dietary protein level group exhibited the highest muscle moisture, although there was an inconspicuous decrease in the chewiness of the muscles when compared with the other groups. The dietary protein level influenced the content of free amino acids and nucleotides, especially the content of flavor amino acids, which exhibited an increasing tendency along with the increasing protein level, such as alanine and glutamic acid, while the flavor nucleotides showed different fluctuation trends. Moreover, the genes related to muscle development were shown to be influenced by the dietary protein level, especially the expression of MRF4, which was up-regulated with the increasing dietary protein levels. The 29% dietary protein level promoted the majority of analyzed muscle genes expression to the highest level when compared to other dietary levels, except the Myostain, whose expression reached its highest at 38% dietary protein levels. Furthermore, the effect of dietary protein levels on antioxidant signaling pathway genes were also examined. High protein levels would boost the expression of GSTα; GPX1 and GPX4α mRNA expression showed the highest level at the 32% dietary protein group. The increasing dietary protein level decreased both mRNA and protein expressions of Nrf2 by up-regulating Keap1. Autophagy-related gene expression levels reached the peak at 32% dietary protein level, as evidenced by a similar change in protein expression of FoxO1. In summary, muscle nutritional composition, antioxidative pathways, and autophagy levels were affected by the dietary protein levels. A total of 29-32% dietary protein level would be the appropriate level range to improve muscle quality and promote the antioxidant and autophagy capacity of triploid crucian carp muscles.

Background: The global COVID-19 pandemic outbreak has caused a significant social and economic burden, with over 4.7 million confirmed cases and thousands of casualties. Moreover, pandemic-related misinformation and disinformation on social media platforms have led to intense psychosocial issues. We investigated online disinformation about angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEI)/angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) drugs and their relationship to COVID-19 on Sina Weibo. Methods: We searched for posts related to the pandemic from its beginning in December 2019 to 19 January 2021. We used text mining to identify content related to "antihypertensive agents ACEI/ARB can increase COVID-19". Results: We found 82 posts spreading disinformation and 44 posts dispelling disinformation. The former had 535 clicks and concerns and 31 comments, and was forwarded 98 times. Of the 82 posts spreading disinformation, 15.9% (n = 13) contained pseudo-scientific information, 24.4% (n = 20) contained authoritative releases, and 75.6% (n = 62) contained normal personal releases. Most disinformation posts (n = 61 (74.3%)) were published from 16 February 2020 to 16 March 2020, and 12.2% (n = 10) were published from 1 February 2021 to 16 March 2021. Among the 44 dispelling disinformation posts, approximately 57.1% of the comments were in support, and 42.9% were opposed or invalid. Nearly half of the users were confused or superstitious about the disinformation. Conclusions: The disinformation about ACEI/ARB increasing the opportunity for COVID-19 infection during the pandemic was based on clinical mechanisms and scientific evidence intended for hypertensive patients taking long-term medication. It was packaged in a pseudo-scientific shell, leading to confusion and panic among patients. This disinformation harmed COVID-19 prevention efforts, damaged mental health, and possibly led to harmful behaviours. In future crises, the spread of rumours should be stopped quickly and effectively.

A bubbling reactor is an important type of gas scrubber to reduce SO2 emissions in maritime shipping. Both experiments and simulations were conducted to study the relationship between the periodic gas bubbling process and SO2 concentration at the outlet of the reactor, and the entrainment of liquid droplets on SO2 absorption. The accuracy of the model was verified by comparing the bubble size, the depth of bubbles injected into the water, and the SO2 concentration obtained in both experiments and simulations. The gas bubbling process is accompanied by bubble formation, rise, and collapse. The gas bubbling period is affected by the disturbance of the liquid level. The period of the SO2 concentration at the outlet of the gas bubbling reactor is smaller than that at the gas jar outlet which acts as the gas buffering region. The amounts of water carried out of the bubbling reactor by the gas bubbling process increase with the gas flow rates. The droplets and liquid film in the gas jar and the connecting tube play an important role in the absorption of SO2. This study encourages more research to reduce the fluctuation of SO2 concentration and consider droplet entrainment in the design of bubbling reactors.

m6A methylation provides an essential layer of regulation in organismal development, and is aberrant in a range of cancers and neuro-pathologies. The information encoded by m6A methylation is integrated into existing RNA regulatory networks by RNA binding proteins that recognise methylated sites, the m6A readers. m6A readers include a well-characterised class of dedicated proteins, the YTH proteins, as well as a broader group of multi-functional regulators where recognition of m6A is only partially understood. Molecular insight in this recognition is essential to build a mechanistic understanding of global m6A regulation. In this study, we show that the reader IMP1 recognises the m6A using a dedicated hydrophobic platform that assembles on the methyl moiety, creating a stable high-affinity interaction. This recognition is conserved across evolution and independent from the underlying sequence context but is layered upon the strong sequence specificity of IMP1 for GGAC RNA. This leads us to propose a concept for m6A regulation where methylation plays a context-dependent role in the recognition of selected IMP1 targets that is dependent on the cellular concentration of available IMP1, differing from that observed for the YTH proteins.

Objectives: This study aimed to examine the coverage of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination and its cognitive determinants among older adults. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted using a questionnaire to conduct a survey among 725 Chinese older adults aged 60 years and above in June 2022, 2 months after the mass COVID-19 outbreak in Shanghai, China. The questionnaire covered demographic characteristics, COVID-19 vaccination status, internal risk perception, knowledge, and attitude toward the efficacy and safety of COVID-19 vaccines. Results: The vaccination rate was 78.3% among the surveyed individuals. Self-reported reasons for unwillingness to get vaccinated (multiple selections) were "concerns about acute exacerbation of chronic diseases after vaccination (57.3%)" and "concerns regarding vaccine side effects (41.4%)." Compared to the unvaccinated group, the vaccinated group tended to have a higher score in internal risk perception (t = 2.64, P < 0.05), better knowledge of COVID-19 vaccines (t = 5.84, P < 0.05), and a more positive attitude toward the efficacy and safety of COVID-19 vaccines (t = 7.92, P < 0.05). The path analysis showed that the cognitive effect on vaccination behavior is relatively large, followed by the internal risk perception, and then the attitude toward COVID-19 vaccines. The more knowledgeable the participants were about COVID-19 vaccines, the more likely they were to receive the COVID-19 vaccines. In the multivariate logistic regression, the increased coverage of COVID-19 vaccination was associated with reduced age (OR = 0.53 95% CI 0.43-0.66, P < 0.001), being a resident in other places than Shanghai (OR = 0.40, 95% CI 0.17-0.92, P < 0.05), a shorter time of lockdown (OR = 0.33, 95% CI 0.13-0.83, P < 0.05), a history of other vaccines (OR = 2.58, 95% CI 1.45-4.60, P < 0.01), a fewer number of chronic diseases (OR = 0.49, 95% CI 0.38-0.62, P < 0.001), better knowledge about COVID-19 vaccines (OR = 1.60, 95% CI 1.17-2.19, P < 0.01), and a positive attitude toward COVID-19 vaccines (OR = 9.22, 95% CI 4.69-18.09, P < 0.001). Conclusion: Acquiring accurate knowledge and developing a positive attitude toward COVID-19 vaccines are important factors associated with COVID-19 vaccination. Disseminating informed information on COVID-19 vaccines and ensuring efficacious communication regarding their efficacy and safety would enhance awareness about COVID-19 vaccination among older adults and consequently boost their vaccination coverage.

Previous studies have shown that information concerning object shape is important for the perception of translucency. This study aims to explore how the perception of semi-opaque objects is influenced by surface gloss. We varied specular roughness, specular amplitude, and the simulated direction of a light source used to illuminate a globally convex bumpy object. We found that perceived lightness and roughness increased as specular roughness was increased. Declines in perceived saturation were observed but were far smaller in magnitude with these increases in specular roughness. There were inverse correlations found between perceived gloss and perceived lightness, perceived transmittance and perceived saturation, and between perceived roughness and perceived gloss. Positive correlations were found between perceived transmittance and glossiness, and between perceived roughness and perceived lightness. These findings suggest that specular reflections influence the perception of transmittance and color attributes, and not just perceived gloss. We also performed follow-up modeling of image data to find that perceived saturation and lightness could be explained by the reliance on different image regions with greater chroma and lower lightness, respectively. We also found systematic effects of lighting direction on perceived transmittance that indicate there are complex perceptual interactions that require further consideration.

As one of the first doctors issued a protective warning to the public, Dr. Li Wenliang was known as "whistleblower" of COVID-19 pandemic. After his death of COVID-19, students entered to his Sina Weibo to display their condolences and sorrow. We conduct text analysis and sentiment classification to investigate the motivation behind online mourning for Dr. Li among students on Sina Weibo. Our results indicate that, a) there always more than one motivation behind online mourning exists in each time period. b) continuing connection and semi-interaction with the deceased is the main motivation when students mourn online. c) there exists positive correlation between the influence of the deceased and the motivation--sharing information with the community of fans and creating social support in a time of loss and social support. d) the motivation--honoring the dead and expressing sadness and resentment can gradually lose over time.

OBJECTIVE: This study is aimed to investigate the mental health status of COVID-19 survivors 1 year after discharge from hospital and reveal the related risk factors. METHODS: From April 11 to May 11, 2021, 566 COVID-19 survivors in Huanggang city were recruited through their primary doctors. A total of 535 participants (94.5%) admitted to participate in the survey and completed the questionnaires. Five scales were applied including 7-Items Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale, Patient Health Questionnaire-9, Impact of Event Scale-Revised, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, and Fatigue Scale-14. The chi-square and the Fisher's exact test were used to evaluate the classification data, multivariate logistic regression was used to explore the related factors of sleep quality, fatigue, anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). RESULTS: One year after being discharged, of the 535 COVID-19 survivors, 252 (47.1%) had poor sleep quality; 157 (29.3%) had the symptoms of fatigue; 84 (15.7%),112 (20.9%), and 130 (24.3%) suffered from symptoms of anxiety, depression, and PTSD, respectively. The logistic regression analysis showed that history of chronic disease was risk factor for poor sleep quality (OR 2.501; 95% CI, 1.618-3.866), fatigue (OR 3.284; 95% CI 2.143-5.033), PTSD (OR 2.323; 95% CI 1.431-3.773) and depression (OR 1.950; 95% CI 1.106-3.436) in COVID-19 survivors. Smoking contributed to the poor sleep quality (OR 2.005; 95% CI 1.044-3.850), anxiety (OR 4.491; 95% CI 2.276-8.861) and depression (OR 5.459; 95% CI 2.651-11.239) in survivors. Drinking influenced fatigue (OR 2.783; 95% CI 1.331-5.819) and PTSD (OR 4.419; 95% CI 1.990-9.814) in survivors. Compared with college-educated survivors, survivors with high school education were at higher risk for poor sleep quality (OR 1.828; 95% CI 1.050-3.181) and PTSD (OR 2.521; 95% CI 1.316-4.830), and survivors with junior high school education were at higher risk for PTSD (OR 2.078; 95% CI 1.039-4.155). Compared with overweight survivors (BMI ≥ 23.0), survivors with normal BMI (18.5-22.9) (OR 0.600; 95% CI 0.405-0.889) were at lower risk for fatigue. While being housewife (OR 0.390; 95% CI 0.189-0.803) was protective factor for fatigue and having more family members was protective factor for PTSD (OR 0.404 95% CI 0.250-0.653) in survivors. CONCLUSIONS: One year after infection, poor sleep quality, fatigue, anxiety, depression, and PTSD, still existed in a relatively high proportion of COVID-19 survivors. Chronic disease history was an independent risk factor for poor sleep quality, fatigue, depression, and PTSD. Participants with low education levels were more likely to have mental problems than the others. We should focus on the long-term psychological impact of COVID-19 on survivors, and the government should apply appropriate mental health services to offer psychiatric support.

Flexible pressure sensors have provided an attractive option for potential applications in wearable fields like human motion monitoring or human-machine interfaces. For the development of flexible pressure sensors, achieving high performance or multifunctions are popular research tendencies in recent years, such as improving their sensitivity, working range, or stability. Sponge materials with porous structures have been demonstrated that they are one of the potential substrates for developing novel and excellent flexible pressure sensors. However, for sponge-based pressure sensors, it is still a great challenge to realize a wide range of pressures from Pa level to hundreds kPa level. And how to achieve mechanical robustness remains unsolved. Here, we develop a flexible pressure sensor based on multicarbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) network-coated porous elastomer sponge with a broad range and robust features for use in wearable applications. Specifically, polyurethane (PU) sponge is used as the substrate matrix while dip-coated PU/MWCNTs composites as a conductive layer, achieving a highly bonding effect between the substrate and the conductive material, hence a great mechanical robust advantage is obtained and the working range also is improved. The pressure sensor show range of up to 350 kPa, while the minimum detection threshold is as low as 150 Pa. And before and after rolling by a bicycle or electric motorcycle, the sensor has the almost same responses, exhibiting great robustness.

BACKGROUND: Pandemics, such as COVID-19, are dangerous and socially disruptive. Though no one is immune to COVID-19, older persons often bear the brunt of its consequences. This is particularly true for older women, as they often face more pronounced health challenges relative to other segments in society, including complex care needs, insufficient care provisions, mental illness, neglect, and increased domestic abuse. To further compound the situation, because protective measures like lockdowns can result in unintended consequences, many health services older women depend on can become disrupted or discontinued amid pandemics. While technology-based interventions have the potential to provide near-time, location-free, and virtually accessible care, there is a dearth of systematic insights into this mode of care in the literature. To bridge the research gaps, this investigation aims to examine the characteristics and effectiveness of technology-based interventions that could address health challenges older women face amid COVID-19. METHODS: A systematic review of randomized trials reporting on technology-based interventions for older women (≥65 years) during COVID-19 will be conducted. The databases of Web of Science, ScienceDirect, PubMed/MEDLINE, PsycINFO, CINAHL, and Scopus will be searched. Retrieved citations will be screened independently by at least two reviewers against the eligibility criteria. Included studies will be assessed using the Cochrane ROB-2 tool. Data will be extracted independently by the reviewers. Where possible, meta-analyses will be performed on relevant study outcomes and analysed via odds ratios on the dichotomized outcomes. Where applicable, heterogeneity will be measured using the Cochrane Q test, and publication bias will be assessed via funnel plots and Egger's regression test. DISCUSSION: Technology has the potential to transform healthcare for the better. To help society better safeguard vulnerable populations' health and quality of life, this investigation sets out to gauge the state-of-the-art development of technology-based interventions tailored to the health challenges older women face amid COVID-19. In light of the growing prevalence of population ageing and the inevitability of infectious disease outbreaks, greater research efforts are needed to ensure the timely inception and effective implementation of technology-based health solutions for vulnerable populations like older women, amid public health crises like COVID-19 and beyond. Since December, 2019, Wuhan, China, has experienced an outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). We conducted a retrospective study of COVID-19 inpatients in Wuhan Pulmonary Hospital (Wuhan, China) from January 1 to February 29, 2020. The subjects were divided into four groups due to different treatment regimes. We used the Kaplan-Meier method to determine the cumulative rates of in-hospital death and the Cox proportional hazard model to calculate the risk factors and corresponding hazard ratios. A total of 185 patients were included in this study. The median age of the patients was 62 years, including 94 men and 91 women. Kaplan-Meier analysis demonstrated that mortality was higher in older patients, higher in men, and lower in the low-flow oxygen therapy group. Body mass index (BMI) had no influence on mortality, as well as high flow oxygen therapy, Lopinavir-ritonavir (LPV/r) therapy, and the interferon-alpha add LPV/r therapy. Cox proportional hazard regression confirmed that the low flow oxygen therapy was independent protective factor for in-hospital death after adjusting for age, gender, and BMI. In conclusion, the mortality was higher in older patients, higher in men, and lower in the low-flow oxygen therapy group. BMI had no influence on mortality, as well as high flow oxygen therapy, LPV/r therapy, and interferon-alpha add LPV/r therapy.

The nutritional functions of tributyrin (TB) have been extensively studied, but questions remain regarding its influence on the growth of juvenile grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idellus) and the regulation pathway to PepT1 in the intestine of grass carp. To answer the remaining questions, feeding trials, cell trials, and peritoneal injection trials were conducted in this study. The results showed that an appropriate level of TB (0.5 g/kg and 1.0 g/kg) supplementation in feed significantly promoted the growth performance of juvenile grass carp. The expressions of intestine genes (CDX2, SP1 and PepT1) related to oligopeptide transportation increased in the 0.5 g/kg TB group of feeding trials and both the 5 mM and 10 mM TB groups of the intestine cell trials, respectively. Subsequently, the injection trials of inhibitors CDX2 and SP1 demonstrated that the inhibition of CDX2 or SP1 decreased the mRNA expression of PepT1. Finally, the results of independent or combined treatments of TB and the inhibitors suggested that CDX2/SP1 mediated TB regulation on PepT1. These findings may help us to better understand the functions of TB on growth and PepT1 oligopeptide transportation, which could be modulated by dietary TB through the CDX2/SP1-PepT1 pathway in juvenile grass carp.
