RESUMO

Diogenes syndrome is a chronic condition often affecting elderly people, especially those living in isolation. It is characterised by self-neglect and compulsive hoarding. Medico-social professionals working with people in their home, have reflected on levers to help improve the complex support of these patients.

Hospital at home structures aim to assure the transition between hospital and home, including by supporting a life project through to its last moments. The transformation of equipment is shaping the evolution of nursing care. The provision of nursing care and the administration of treatment prescribed by the doctor require the use of a range of medical devices and equipment. Skilled in their use, the nurse must practise medical devices vigilance. Different memories and perspectives on the recent history of equipment which has strongly influenced the evolution of nursing care.
