RESUMO

The cell membrane tracking is important for studying the membrane function and diagnosing membrane-related diseases, so the development of fluorescent molecule specifically lighting up cell membrane is highly desirable. In this work, we designed and readily prepared a fluorescent dye (BOHI) that can target cell membrane. The pH-dependent emission spectra reveal that BOHI shows fluorescence based on the excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) under acidic and neutral conditions, while the blue-shifted emission from the phenolate anion of BOHI was observed when pH ≥ 9. Among various solvents, the weakest fluorescence emission was observed in H2O, which is favorable to wash-free imaging. The fluorescence intensity of BOHI is greatly affected by surfactants. The anionic surfactant can induce intense green fluorescence, while very weak fluorescence was observed in the solution of cationic surfactant. Hela cells images show that BOHI can specifically targets and lights up cell membrane.

BACKGROUND: Adult mammalian ovaries contain stem/progenitor cells necessary for folliculogenesis and ovulation-related tissue rupture repair. Theca cells are recruited and developed from progenitors during the folliculogenesis. Theca cell progenitors were not well-defined. The aim of current study is to compare the potential of four ovarian progenitors with defined markers (LY6A, EPCR, LGR5and PDGFRA) to form steroidogenic theca cells in vitro. METHODS: Ovarian progenitors were identified by the above four makers reported previously. The location of the cells was determined by immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence staining of ovarian sections of adult mice. Different progenitor populations were purified by magnetic-activated cell sorting (MACS) and/or fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) techniques from ovarian cell preparation and were tested for their abilities to generate steroidogenic theca cells in vitro. The cells were differentiated with a medium containing LH, ITS and DHH agonist for 12 days. RESULTS: EPCR+ and LGR5+ cells primarily distributed along ovarian surface epitheliums (OSE), while LY6A+ cells distributed in both OSE and parenchyma. However, PDGFRA+ cells were exclusively located in interstitial compartment. When the progenitors were purified by these markers and differentiated in vitro, LY6A+ and PDGFRA+ cells formed steroidogenic cells expressing both CYP11A1 and CYP17A1 and primarily producing androgens, showing characteristics of theca-like cells, while LGR5+ cells generated steroidogenic cells devoid of CYP17A1 expression and androgen production, showing a characteristic of progesterone-producing cells (granulosa- or lutea-like cells). CONCLUSION: Progenitors from both OSE and parenchyma of adult mice are capable of generating steroidogenic cells with different steroidogenic capacities, showing a possible lineage preference.

We aimed to examine the l differences in the assessment of neurocognitive impairment (NCI) using cognitive screening tools between PLWH and HIV-negative individuals and further compare the neurocognitive profiles between the two groups. This was baseline evaluation of Pudong HIV Aging Cohort, including 465 people living with HIV (PLWH) and 465 HIV-negative individuals aged over 50 years matched by age (± 3 years), sex and education. NCI was assessed using the Chinese version of Mini-mental State Examination (MMSE), the International HIV Dementia Scale (IHDS) and Beijing version of Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA). In total, 258 (55.5%), 91 (19.6%), 273 (58.7%) of PLWH were classified as having NCI by the IHDS, MMSE and MoCA, compared to 90 (19.4%), 25 (5.4%), 135 (29.0%) of HIV-negative individuals, respectively (p < 0.05); such associations remained significant in multivariable analysis. PLWH showed a larger overlap of NCI detected by IHDS, MMSE, and MoCA. IHDS and MoCA detected almost all of the NCI detected by MMSE. IHDS-motor and psychomotor speeds and MoCA-executive function showed the greatest disparities between two groups. In multivariable analysis, older age and more depressive symptoms were positively associated with NCI regardless of the screening tools or HIV serostatus. PLWH over 50 years old display a higher prevalence of NCI and distinct neurocognitive profiles compared to HIV-negative individuals, despite viral suppression. Given the more considerable overlap in NCI classification in PLWH, it is advisable to choose one screening tool such as IHDS or MoCA to identify those potentially having NCI and then refer to more comprehensive neuropsychological assessment.

Bicyclo[1.1.0]butane-containing compounds feature a unique chemical reactivity, trigger "strain-release" reaction cascades, and provide novel scaffolds with considerable utility in the drug discovery field. We report the synthesis of new bicyclo[1.1.0]butane-linked heterocycles by a nucleophilic addition of bicyclo[1.1.0]butyl anions to 8-isocyanatoquinoline, or, alternatively, iminium cations derived from quinolines and pyridines. The resulting bicyclo[1.1.0]butanes are converted with high regioselectivity to unprecedented bridged heterocycles in a rhodium(I)-catalyzed annulative rearrangement. The addition/rearrangement process tolerates a surprisingly large range of functional groups. Subsequent chemo- and stereoselective synthetic transformations of urea, alkene, cyclopropane, and aniline moieties of the 1-methylene-5-azacyclopropa[cd]indene scaffolds provide several additional new heterocyclic building blocks. X-ray structure-validated quantum mechanical DFT calculations of the reaction pathway indicate the intermediacy of rhodium carbenoid and metallocyclobutane species.

Eclipta prostrata L. has been used in traditional medicine and known for its liver-protective properties for centuries. Wedelolactone (WEL) and demethylwedelolactone (DWEL) are the major coumarins found in E. prostrata L. However, the comprehensive characterization of these two compounds on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) still remains to be explored. Utilizing a well-established zebrafish model of thioacetamide (TAA)-induced liver injury, the present study sought to investigate the impacts and mechanisms of WEL and DWEL on NAFLD through integrative spatial metabolomics with liver-specific transcriptomics analysis. Our results showed that WEL and DWEL significantly improved liver function and reduced the accumulation of fat in the liver. The biodistributions and metabolism of these two compounds in whole-body zebrafish were successfully mapped, and the discriminatory endogenous metabolites reversely regulated by WEL and DWEL treatments were also characterized. Based on spatial metabolomics and transcriptomics, we identified that steroid biosynthesis and fatty acid metabolism are mainly involved in the hepatoprotective effects of WEL instead of DWEL. Our study unveils the distinct mechanism of WEL and DWEL in ameliorating NAFLD, and presents a "multi-omics" platform of spatial metabolomics and liver-specific transcriptomics to develop highly effective compounds for further improved therapy.

Patients with arterial embolic disease have benefited greatly from antiplatelet therapy. However, hemorrhage risk of antiplatelet agents cannot be ignored. Herein, we describe the discovery of 2,3-dihydro[1,4]dioxino[2,3-g]benzofuran compounds as novel PAR4 antagonists. Notably, the isomers 36 and 37 with the chemotype of phenoxyl methylene substituted on the 2,3-dihydro-1,4-dioxine ring exhibited potent in vitro antiplatelet activity (IC50 = 26.13 nM for 36 and 14.26 nM for 37) and significantly improved metabolic stability in human liver microsomes (T1/2 = 97.6 min for 36 and 11.1 min for BMS-986120). 36 also displayed good oral PK profiles (mice: T1/2 = 7.32 h and F = 45.11%). Both of them showed overall potent ex vivo antiplatelet activity at concentrations of 6 and 12 mg/kg, with no impact on the coagulation system and low bleeding liability. Our work will facilitate development of novel PAR4 antagonists as a safer therapeutic option for arterial embolism.

A series of 3-aroylbenzocoumarin-based luminogens have been synthesized for investigating their aggregation-induced emission (AIE) and solid-state fluorescence. The single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis of one of them showed that the molecules are arranged in the form of π-dimers which may lead to excimer emission. The large Stokes shifts and the broad-band emission of these 3-aroylbenzocoumarins in solid/aggregation state demonstrated the probable formation of excimers. The shapes of benzocoumarin units have a great effect on the AIE behaviors. The linear benzocoumarin derivatives show larger Stokes shifts, while the bent-benzocoumarin derivatives exhibit better AIE performances. All of them show aggregation-enhanced excimer emission which is supported by the large Stokes shifts. The electronic effect of 3-aroyl groups also has a certain effect on their fluorescence properties. The polymorphism phenomenon was observed for one of the benzoyl-containing derivatives. Additionally, two of the derivatives containing methoxy group were successfully used for cell imaging.

Visual imaging experts play an important role in multiple fields, and studies have shown that the combination of functional magnetic resonance imaging and machine learning techniques can predict cognitive abilities, which provides a possible method for selecting individuals with excellent image interpretation skills. We recorded behavioral data and neural activity of 64 participants during image interpretation tasks under different workloads. Based on the comprehensive image interpretation ability, participants were divided into two groups. general linear model analysis showed that during image interpretation tasks, the high-ability group exhibited higher activation in middle frontal gyrus (MFG), fusiform gyrus, inferior occipital gyrus, superior parietal gyrus, inferior parietal gyrus, and insula compared to the low-ability group. The radial basis function Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm shows the most excellent performance in predicting participants' image interpretation abilities (Pearson correlation coefficient = 0.54, R2 = 0.31, MSE = 0.039, RMSE = 0.002). Variable importance analysis indicated that the activation features of the fusiform gyrus and MFG played an important role in predicting this ability. Our study revealed the neural basis related to image interpretation ability when exposed to different mental workloads. Additionally, our results demonstrated the efficacy of machine learning algorithms in extracting neural activation features to predict such ability.

Background: Current approved chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell products are autologous cell therapies that are costly and poorly accessible to patients. We aimed to evaluate the safety and antitumor activity of a novel off-the-shelf anti-CD19 CAR-engineered allogeneic double-negative T cells (RJMty19) in patients with relapsed/refractory large B-cell lymphoma. We report the results from a first-in-human, open-label, single-dose, phase 1 study of allogeneic CD19-specific CAR double-negative T (CAR-DNT) cells. Methods: Eligibility criteria included the presence of measurable lesions, at least 2 lines of prior immunochemotherapy, and an ECOG score of 0-1. We evaluated four dose levels (DL) of RJMty19 in a 3 + 3 dose-escalation scheme: 1 × 106, 3 × 106, 9 × 106 and 2 × 107 CAR-DNT cells per kilogram of body weight. All patients received lymphodepleting chemotherapy with fludarabine and cyclophosphamide. The primary endpoints were dose-limiting toxicities (DLTs), incidence of adverse events (AEs), and clinically significant laboratory abnormalities. Secondary endpoints included evaluation of standard cellular pharmacokinetic parameters, immunogenicity, objective response rates (ORR), and disease control rate (DCR) per Lugano 2014 criteria. Findings: A total of 12 patients were enrolled between 22 July 2022 and 27 July 2023. Among these patients, 66% were classified as stage IV, 75% had an IPI score of 3 or higher, representing an intermediate risk or worse. The maximum tolerated dose was not reached because no DLT was observed. Four patient experienced grade 1 or 2 cytokine release syndrome and dizziness. The most common AEs were hematologic toxicities, including neutropenia (N = 12, 100%), leukopenia (N = 12, 100%), lymphopenia (N = 10, 83%), thrombocytopenia (N = 6, 50%), febrile neutropenia (N = 3, 25%), and anemia (N = 3, 25%). Seven subjects died till the cut-off date, five of them died of disease progression and two of them died of COVID 19. In all patients (N = 12), the ORR was 25% and CRR was 8.3%. DL1 and DL2 patients benefited less from the therapy (ORR: 17%, N = 1; DCR: 33%, N = 2). However, all DL3 patients achieved disease control (N = 3, 100%), and all DL4 patients achieved objective response (N = 3, 100%). Interpretation: Our results demonstrate that CD19-CAR-DNT cells appear to be well tolerated with promising antitumor activity in LBCL patients. Further study of this product with a larger sample size is warranted. This phase 1 study is registered on clinicaltrials.gov (NCT05453669). Funding: Wyze Biotech. Co., Ltd.

The excimer emission based on discrete π-stacked dimers of polycyclic π-systems has generated significant interest in the structure-luminescence relationship of excimers owing to their ultra-large Stokes shift. Herein, a series of excimer emissive luminogens were obtained by conjugating different polycyclic aromatic aldehydes (anthraldehyde, pyrenealdehyde and perylenealdehyde) with triphenylmethylamine. In crystalline states, all the molecules were arranged in the form of π-stacked arene dimers which were spatially isolated from each other by the bulky triphenylmethyl groups, and thus emitted bright excimer emission. The anthracene and pyrene derivatives showed fluorescence enhancement responses to grinding and the enhanced fluorescence could recover to the original state upon heating. The aggregation-induced emission (AIE) properties of them were dependent on the shapes and sizes of the polycyclic aromatic groups. The pyrene derivative showed the most excellent excimer-based AIE behavior among them. All of them were more apt to exhibit the excimer emission when formed nanoparticles with pluronic F-127 than that without pluronic F-127. Furthermore, PETP was utilized for bioimaging of living Hela cells and the high-resolution image was observed.

Mesotrione, topramezone, tembotrione, and sulcotrione are four types of 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxidase (HPPD) inhibitor herbicides that are extensively employed in agricultural practices, but their usage also leads to environmental pollution and poses risks to human health. A probe (E)-1-((2-(pyridin-2-yl) hydrazineylidene) methyl) naphthalen-2-ol (CHMN) based on chelation enhancement (CHEF) effect synthesized. CHMN was first chelated with Zn2+ to form a probe system with green, which can be further used to detect mesotrione, topramezone, tembotrione and sulcotrione in complicated environment. CHMN-Zn2+ detection of four pesticides was accurate, with an excellent linear relationship between 0 and 100 µM. The detection limits were LODmesotrione = 7.79 µM, LODtopramezone = 1.91 µM, LODtembotrione = 1.38 µM and LODsulcotrione = 2.43 µM. The detection time is 1 min, and it is successfully applied in real water sample and bioimaging. This work can provide a novel method for studying the migration and behavior of environmental pollutants.

Liver's distinctive function renders it highly susceptible to diverse damage sources. Characterizing the metabolic profiles and spatial signatures in different liver injuries is imperative for early diagnosis and etiology-oriented treatment. In this comparative study, we conducted whole-body spatial metabolomics on zebrafish with liver injury induced by ethanol (EtOH), acetaminophen (APAP), and thioacetamide (TAA). The two specific levels, the whole-body and liver-specific metabolic profiles, as well as their regional distributions, were systematically mapped in situ by mass spectrometry imaging, which is distinct from conventional LC-MS and GC-MS methods. We found that liver injury regions exhibited more pronounced metabolic reprogramming than the entire organism, leading to significant alterations in eight fatty acids, three phospholipids, and four low-molecular-weight metabolites. More importantly, fatty acids as well as small molecule metabolites including glutamine, glutamate, taurine and malic acid displayed contrasting changes between alcoholic liver disease (ALD) and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). In addition, phospholipids, including Lyso PC (16:0) and Lyso PE (18:0), demonstrated notable down-regulation in all damaged liver, whereas PC (34:1) underwent upregulation. This study not only deepens insights into distinct potential biomarkers for liver injuries, but also underscores spatial metabolomics as a powerful tool to elucidate possible pathogenic mechanisms in other metabolic diseases.

PURPOSE: Adaptive sports participation has been shown to improve quality of life (QoL) in individual with disabilities. However, inconsistent results in various domains of QoL exist in the literature. The objective of this mixed-methods systematic review is to identify and synthesize evidence from quantitative and qualitative studies on the effect of adaptive sports on QoL in individuals with disabilities who use wheelchairs for mobility. METHODS: A systematic literature review of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research on the effect of adaptive sports on QoL was conducted on five databases (Scopus, Web of Science, PsycINFO, Medline, and PubMed). Quality appraisal was conducted by two authors by using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool. RESULTS: This review identified 4 key findings from 41 studies, including 31 quantitative and 10 qualitative studies. First, individuals with disabilities using wheelchairs for mobility who actively engaged in adaptive sports tend to report higher QoL scores compared with those who were inactive or did not participate. Second, the relationship between the duration of regular participation in adaptive sports and QoL scores exhibited inconsistent results. Third, a multi-component adaptive sports program demonstrates the potential to further improve QoL scores. Last, qualitative investigations reveal that participation in adaptive sports positively influences various domains of well-being in wheelchair users, including encompassing physical and emotional well-being, interpersonal relationships, material well-being, personal development, self-determination, and social inclusion. CONCLUSION: This review provides a comprehensive relationship between adaptive sports participation and QoL of wheelchair users. This study identifies the value of multi-component interventions and demonstrates the diverse positive influences of adaptive sports on well-being.

Understanding the physiological effects of herbicides on crops is crucial for crop production and environmental management. The effects of 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase inhibitor (HPPDi) herbicides at different concentrations on chlorophyll content in maize leaves, fresh weight of roots, stems and leaves, and fluorescence substances and functional groups in root exudates (REs) were studied by UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and two-dimensional correlation analysis (2D-COS). The results showed that 5 mg/L and 10 mg/L HPPDi herbicides inhibited the synthesis of chlorophyll in maize leaves. The weight of roots, stems and leaves of maize after application was lighter than that of the control group. HPPDi herbicides affected the early growth of maize seedlings, and the effect was most obvious at high concentration. Synchronous fluorescence spectrum and three-dimensional (3D) fluorescence spectrum revealed that the fluorescence intensity of protein, fulvic acid and humic acid in maize REs changed prominently. With the increase of HPPDi herbicides concentration, the fluorescence intensity decreased gradually. Through FTIR and 2D-COS, functional groups such as C-H, CO, Cl, NO3-, C-O and O-H were found to participate in the interaction between HPPDi herbicides and maize REs as binding sites. C-O, C-Cl and C-C have the strongest binding ability, while CC and CO of aromatic rings, quinones or ketones first take part in the binding between HPPDi herbicides and maize REs. The results can provide a theoretical basis for evaluating the safety of HPPDi herbicides on maize and a method for discovering the effects of pesticides on environmental media and plant physiological effects.

Prenatal exposures to phthalates and bisphenols have been shown to be linked with adverse birth outcomes. Oxidative stress (OS) is considered a potential mechanism. The objective of this study was to explore the individual and mixtures of prenatal exposures to phthalates and bisphenols in associations with OS biomarkers. We measured eight phthalate metabolites and three bisphenols in the urine samples from 105 pregnant women in Wuhan, China. Urinary 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine (8-OHdG), 8-isoprostaglandin F2α (8-isoPGF2α), and 4-hydroxy-2-nonenal-mercapturic acid (HNE-MA) were determined as OS biomarkers. The OS biomarkers in associations with the individual chemicals were estimated by linear regression models and restricted cubic spline (RCS) models, and their associations with the chemical mixtures were explored by quantile g-computation (qg-comp) models. In single-pollutant analyses, five phthalate metabolites including monomethyl phthalate (MMP), monoethyl phthalate (MEP), mono-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (MEHP), (2-ethyl-5-hydroxyhexyl) phthalate (MEHHP), and mono (2-ethyl-5-oxohexyl) phthalate (MEOHP) were positively associated with urinary 8-OHdG levels (all FDR-adjusted P = 0.06). These associations were further confirmed by the RCS models and were linear (P for overall association ≤ 0.05 and P for non-linear association > 0.05). In mixture analyses, qg-comp models showed that a one-quartile increase in the chemical mixtures of phthalate metabolites and bisphenols was positively associated with urinary levels of 8-OHdG and 8-isoPGF2α, and bisphenol A (BPA) and bisphenol F (BPF) were the most contributing chemicals, respectively. Prenatal exposures to individual phthalates and mixtures of phthalates and bisphenols were associated with higher OS levels.

Pulmonary air leak is the most common complication of lung surgery, contributing to post-operative morbidity in up to 60% of patients; yet, there is no reliable treatment. Available surgical sealants do not match the demanding deformation mechanics of lung tissue; and therefore, fail to seal air leak. To address this therapeutic gap, a sealant with structural and mechanical similarity to subpleural lung is designed, developed, and systematically evaluated. This "lung-mimetic" sealant is a hydrofoam material that has alveolar-like porous ultrastructure, lung-like viscoelastic properties (adhesive, compressive, tensile), and lung extracellular matrix-derived signals (matrikines) to support tissue repair. In biocompatibility testing, the lung-mimetic sealant shows minimal cytotoxicity and immunogenicity in vitro. Human primary monocytes exposed to sealant matrikines in vitro upregulate key genes (MARCO, PDGFB, VEGF) known to correlate with pleural wound healing and tissue repair in vivo. In rat and swine models of pulmonary air leak, this lung-mimetic sealant rapidly seals air leak and restores baseline lung mechanics. Altogether, these data indicate that the lung-mimetic sealant can effectively seal pulmonary air leak and promote a favorable cellular response in vitro.

Importance: Numerous studies have documented the association of self-rated health (SRH) with chronic diseases. However, few studies have investigated its association with semen quality. Objective: To examine the association of SRH with semen quality among men undergoing assisted reproductive technology (ART) in China. Design, Setting, and Participants: This cross-sectional study recruited male partners in couples undergoing ART treatment at the Center for Reproductive Medicine, Tongji Hospital, Wuhan, China. A total of 1262 men underwent 2 semen examinations and completed a questionnaire on SRH between December 2018 and January 2020. Data analysis was performed from November 20, 2022, to March 24, 2023. Exposure: SRH, including overall physical and mental health, as well as reproductive-related physical and mental health specifically, were reported at baseline recruitment. Main Outcomes and Measures: Sperm concentration, sperm progressive motility, sperm motility, and sperm count as semen quality parameters. Results: The study included 1262 men with a mean (SD) age of 32.79 (5.25) years and body mass index of 24.37 (3.68). Men with poorer SRH had lower semen quality (eg, sperm concentration among poor vs very good overall physical health: percentage variation, -14.67%; 95% CI, -23.62% to -4.66%). Among 4 components of SRH, a greater reduction in semen quality was estimated for reproductive-related SRH compared with overall SRH, whereas the greatest reduction was observed for reproductive-related physical SRH. In comparison with men with very good reproductive-related physical SRH, men with poor reproductive-related physical SRH had differences of -24.78% (95% CI, -32.71% to -15.93%) and -25.61% (95% CI, -33.95% to -16.22%) in sperm count and concentration, respectively, and regression coefficients of -9.38 (95% CI, -12.01 to -6.76) and -9.24 (95% CI, -11.82 to -6.66) for sperm motility and sperm progressive motility, respectively. Conclusions and Relevance: In this cross-sectional study of Chinese men, poorer SRH was associated with lower semen quality, and reproductive-related physical SRH was the most pronounced indicator. Our findings suggest that SRH, especially reproductive-related physical SRH, was a good indicator of semen quality, which should inform public and clinical regulatory decisions.

Nanopillar/tube arrays have emerged as encouraging platforms, possessing remarkable advantages, including large specific areas and highly aligned orientations. Despite the progress of nano/microfabrication technologies, facile and controllable fabrication of conductive polymer nanopillar/tube arrays remains challenging. In this study, we demonstrate that the air-liquid interfacial self-assembly can be extended to obtain three-dimensional nanostructured arrays. A smart and novel method is proposed for preparing uniform conductive polymer nanopillar/tube arrays by a template-mediated interfacial synthesis approach. By utilizing capillary force, precise control processes of the nanostructure and patterned structure can be easily realized. Furthermore, a transfer strategy is devised, allowing for scalable fabrication and expansion of the applicability. Applications, including antibacterial surfaces and actuators, have been demonstrated. We extend the air-liquid interfacial synthesis technique as a powerful and universal strategy for producing ordered nanopillar/tube arrays and show the great potential of soft nanostructured arrays as advanced platforms in diverse applications.

The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is one of the areas the richest in salt lakes and Artemia sites. As a result of climate warming and wetting, the areas of salt lakes on the plateau have been increasing, and the salinities have decreased considerably since 1990s. However, the impact of salinity change on the genetic diversity of Artemia is still unknown. Kyêbxang Co is the highest (4620 m above sea level) salt lake currently with commercial harvesting of Artemia resting eggs in the world, and harbors the largest Artemia population on the plateau. Its salinity had dropped from âˆ¼67 ppt in 1998 to âˆ¼39 ppt in 2019. Using 13 microsatellite markers and the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase submit I (COI) gene, we analyzed the temporal changes of genetic diversity, effective population size and genetic structure of this Artemia population based on samples collected in 1998, 2007 and 2019. Our results revealed a steady decline of genetic diversity and significant genetic differentiation among the sampling years, which may be a consequence of genetic drift and the selection of decreased salinity. A decline of effective population size was also detected, which may be relative to the fluctuation in census population size, skewed sex ratio, and selection of the declined salinity. In 2007 and 2019, the Artemia population showed an excess of heterozygosity and significant deviation from Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium (p < 0.001), which may be associated with the heterozygote advantage under low salinity. To comprehensively understand the impact of climate warming and wetting on Artemia populations on the plateau, further investigation with broad and intensive sampling are needed.
