RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore and analyze the correlation between anxiety levels, coping strategies, and fertility quality of life in male soldiers with infertility. METHODS: A questionnaire survey was conducted on 480 male soldiers with infertility who visited the Reproductive Medicine Department of the Eastern Theater Command General Hospital from June 2022 to February 2023, analyze the impact of anxiety levels on stress coping strategies and fertility quality of life in male officers and soldiers with infertility. RESULTS: Self evaluation scale score is (43.06 ± 15.02), Fertility Quality of Life Scale score is (52.11 ± 36.68), Trait Coping Style Questionnaire score is (48.45 ± 23.15). The relevant analysis results show that there is a negative correlation between the scores of the Self Rating Anxiety Scale and the Reproductive Quality of Life Scale, a positive correlation between the scores of the Self Rating Anxiety Scale and the Trait Coping Style Questionnaire, and a positive correlation between the scores of the Reproductive Quality of Life Scale and the Trait Coping Style Questionnaire. The results of multiple regression analysis showed that years of infertility, history of childbirth, anxiety level, and coping strategies entered the regression equation. The anxiety level of male officers and soldiers with infertility has a mediating effect on the relationship between stress coping styles and quality of life during childbirth. CONCLUSION: The mental health status of male officers and soldiers with infertility is poor, and their coping strategies and quality of life during childbirth are at a moderate to low level. This indicates that more attention should be paid to the special group of male officers and soldiers with infertility, and psychological intervention should be strengthened in routine treatment. Provide support from different perspectives to address concerns and enhance the combat effectiveness of the military.

RESUMO

The chloroplast genome and evolutionary relationship analysis of Tulipa patens could provide fundamental genetic reference for its molecular breeding and biological research. The complete chloroplast genome of T. patens was sequenced and reported here. The genome was 152,050 bp in length, containing a pair of inverted repeated regions (26,330 bp) which were separated by a large single copy region of 82,184 bp, and a small single copy region of 17,206 bp. A total of 133 functional genes were annotated, including 87 protein-coding genes, 38 tRNA genes, and eight rRNA genes. The phylogenetic relationships of 10 species indicated that T. patens was closely related to Tulipa sylvestris.

RESUMO

Lateonset hypogonadism is defined as a condition caused by a decline in the levels of testosterone with aging. One of the major factors contributing to the low levels of testosterone is the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in Leydig cells during the ageing process. Peroxiredoxin 2 (Prdx2), a member of the peroxiredoxin family, is an antioxidant protein, the predominant function of which is to neutralize ROS. However, its role in Leydig cells remains to be elucidated. In the present study, primary Leydig cells were exposed to low concentrations of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to induce oxidative stress. Cell apoptosis was measured using an Annexin V fluorescein isothiocyanate/propidium iodide apoptosis detection kit and flow cytometry. The level of testosterone was determined by radioimmunoassay, and the mRNA and protein expression levels of Prdx2 were detected by reverse transcriptionpolymerase chain reaction and western blotting, respectively. The results revealed a significant increase in cell apoptosis and decrease in testosterone production. In addition, the expression of Prdx2 was decreased by H2O2 in a dose and timedependent manner, and this decrease may have been caused by the induction of its molecular structure transformation due to H2O2 elimination. The above findings indicated that Prdx2 may prevent H2O2 accumulation in Leydig cells, and may be important in oxidative stressinduced apoptosis and decreased testosterone production.

RESUMO

BAZ1A, a non-catalytic subunit of the chromatin remodeler complexes ACF and CHRAC, is thought to modulate the ATPase's activity of the complexes and participate in gene transcription, DNA damage checkpoint and double-strand break repair. Recently, the essential role of BAZ1A in mouse male fertility has also been reported. BAZ1A contains one C-terminal bromodomain, which specifically recognizes acetylation of lysine. Here, we report the backbone and side chain (1)H, (13)C and (15)N resonance assignment of the mouse BAZ1A-bromodomain, as a basis for further functional studies and structure determination.

RESUMO

As the chemical environment of semen can have a profound effect on sperm quality, we examined the effect of pH on the motility, viability and capacitation of human sperm. The sperm in this study was collected from healthy males to avoid interference from other factors. The spermatozoa cultured in sperm nutrition solution at pH 5.2, 6.2, 7.2 and 8.2 were analyzed for sperm total motility, progressive motility (PR), hypo-osmotic swelling (HOS) rate, and sperm penetration. Our results showed that these parameters were similar in pH 7.2 and 8.2 sperm nutrition solutions, but decreased in pH 5.2 and 6.2 solutions. The HOS rate exhibited positive correlation with the sperm total motility and PR. In addition, the sperm Na(+)/K(+)-ATPase activity at different pHs was measured, and the enzyme activity was significantly lower in pH 5.2 and 6.2 media, comparing with that in pH 8.2 and pH 7.2 solutions. Using flow cytometry (FCM) and laser confocal scanning microscopy (LCSM) analysis, the intracellular Ca2(+ )concentrations of sperm cultured in sperm capacitation solution at pH 5.2, 6.2, 7.2 and 8.2 were determined. Compared with that at pH 7.2, the mean fluorescence intensity of sperm in pH 5.2 and 6.2 media decreased significantly, while that of pH 8.2 group showed no difference. Our results suggested that the declined Na(+)/K(+)-ATPase activity at acidic pHs result in decreased sperm movement and capacitation, which could be one of the mechanisms of male infertility.

RESUMO

Low-attenuation waveguides based on the propagation of long-range surface plasmon polaritons (LRSPPs) along thin Au stripes embedded in low absorption perfluorocyclobutane (PFCB) polymer are presented. A new low in propagation loss of <2.0 dB/cm was achieved for a 4 microm wide waveguide by optimizing the cladding material and fabrication process. The coupling efficiency between the LRSPP waveguide and the optical fiber is studied theoretically and experimentally for different widths of Au stripes and various cladding thicknesses. Lower coupling loss is found when the cladding thickness is close to the mode diameter of the butt-coupled fiber. Based on the 2D distribution of SPP modes calculated by a finite-difference mode solver, a symmetric structure of multilayer claddings with different refractive indices is proposed to optimize device insertion loss.
