PURPOSE: Postoperative sore throat (POST) after thyroidectomy is a major concern.A roll is typically inserted under the shoulder to achieve head hypsokinesis and neck extension to better expose the surgical site during thyroid surgery. However, POST and impaired voice function have been attributed to neck overextension. This study aimed to explore the rational angle of head hypsokinesis that both reduced sore throat intensity and protects voice function after thyroid surgery. METHODS: A total of 210 patients who underwent thyroidectomy were enrolled and randomized into high-tilt (Group H) and low-tilt angle groups (Group L). The primary outcome was the incidence of POST 6 h after surgery. Secondary outcomes included the severity of postoperative pharyngeal pain, voice function, swallowing pain, and coughing. RESULTS: The incidence of POST 6 h after thyroidectomy was significantly lower in Group L than that in Group H. In addition, the intensity of postoperative sore throat and swallowing pain was more severe in Group H. A lower degree of head hypsokinesis in Group L prevented transient postoperative voice injury. CONCLUSIONS: A lower degree of head hypsokinesis effectively mitigated sore throat severity after thyroidectomy and improved postoperative voice function. Background: Porcine skeletal muscle development is pivotal for improving meat production. TP63, a transcription factor, regulates vital cellular processes, yet its role in skeletal muscle proliferation is unclear. Methods: The effects of TP63 on skeletal muscle cell viability and proliferation were investigated using both mouse and porcine skeletal muscle myoblasts. Selective sweep analysis in Western pigs identified TP63 as a potential candidate gene for skeletal muscle development. The correlation between TP63 overexpression and cell proliferation was assessed using quantitative real-time PCR (RT-qPCR) and 5-ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (EDU). Results: The study revealed a positive correlation between TP63 overexpression and skeletal muscle cell proliferation. Bioinformatics analysis predicted an interaction between MEF2A, another transcription factor, and the mutation site of TP63. Experimental validation through dual-luciferase assays confirmed that a candidate enhancer SNP could influence MEF2A binding, subsequently regulating TP63 expression and promoting skeletal muscle cell proliferation. Conclusion: These findings offer experimental evidence for further exploration of skeletal muscle development mechanisms and the advancement of genetic breeding strategies aimed at improving meat production traits.

BACKGROUND: Monitoring the lifestyles of older adults helps promote independent living and ensure their well-being. The common technologies for home monitoring include wearables, ambient sensors, and smart household meters. While wearables can be intrusive, ambient sensors require extra installation, and smart meters are becoming integral to smart city infrastructure. Research Gap: The previous studies primarily utilized high-resolution smart meter data by applying Non-Intrusive Appliance Load Monitoring (NIALM) techniques, leading to significant privacy concerns. Meanwhile, some Japanese power companies have successfully employed low-resolution data to monitor lifestyle patterns discreetly. SCOPE AND METHODOLOGY: This study develops a lifestyle monitoring system for older adults using low-resolution smart meter data, mapping electricity consumption to appliance usage. The power consumption data are collected at 15-min intervals, and the background power threshold distinguishes between the active and inactive periods (0/1). The system quantifies activity through an active score and assesses daily routines by comparing these scores against the long-term norms. Key Outcomes/Contributions: The findings reveal that low-resolution data can effectively monitor lifestyle patterns without compromising privacy. The active scores and regularity assessments calculated using correlation coefficients offer a comprehensive view of residents' daily activities and any deviations from the established patterns. This study contributes to the literature by validating the efficacy of low-resolution data in lifestyle monitoring systems and underscores the potential of smart meters in enhancing elderly people's care.

Photocatalytic nanomotors have attracted a lot of attention because of their unique capacity to simultaneously convert light and chemical energy into mechanical motion with a fast photoresponse. Recent discoveries demonstrate that the integration of optical and magnetic components within a single nanomotor platform offers novel advantages for precise motion control and enhanced photocatalytic performance. Despite these advancements, the impact of magnetic fields on energy transfer dynamics in photocatalytic nanomotors remains unexplored. Here, we introduce dual-responsive rod-like nanomotors, made of a TiO2/NiFe heterojunction, able to (i) self-propel upon irradiation, (ii) align with the direction of an external magnetic field, and (iii) exhibit enhanced photocatalytic performance. Consequently, when combining light irradiation with a homogeneous magnetic field, these nanomotors exhibit increased velocities attributed to their improved photoactivity. As a proof-of-concept, we investigated the ability of these nanomotors to generate phenol, a valuable chemical feedstock, from benzene under combined optical and magnetic fields. Remarkably, the application of an external magnetic field led to a 100% increase in the photocatalytic phenol generation in comparison with light activation alone. By using various state-of-the-art techniques such as photoelectrochemistry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, photoluminescence, and electron paramagnetic resonance, we characterized the charge transfer between the semiconductor and the alloy component, revealing that the magnetic field significantly improved charge pair separation and enhanced hydroxyl radical generation. Consequently, our work provides valuable insights into the role of magnetic fields in the mechanisms of light-driven photocatalytic nanomotors for designing more effective light-driven nanodevices for selective oxidations.

A nationwide population-based database was utilized in a nested case-control study to explore the association between ambient air pollution exposure and the likelihood of developing connective tissue sarcoma. The study examined 280 cases of connective tissue sarcoma diagnosed between 2000 and 2012. A random sample of 1120 control subjects was selected from a subpopulation of claim records without a connective tissue sarcoma diagnosis in a 1:4 ratio. The control subjects were selected based on similar characteristics as the connective tissue sarcoma patients, including gender, birth year, and the year of diagnosis of the case group with medical records. Risk factors for connective tissue sarcoma were collected for analysis. Our data on exposure to air pollutants was collected from Taiwan's Air Quality Monitoring Network, which has been gathering air quality data from a growing network of sampling stations (now 76) throughout the country since 1997. It was discovered that the risk of connective tissue sarcoma was significantly increased by the Charlson comorbidity index (CCI), elevated levels of specific air pollution indices (e.g., total hydrocarbons (THC), fine particulate matter (PM2.5), and O3_8 (the annual mean of the daily maximum 8-h average concentration of O3), the High Pollutant Standards Index (hPSI) (the percentage of days in a given year in Taiwan where the PSI exceeds 100), and an insurable monthly wage over US$1100. Further investigation is needed to explore the involvement of these air pollutants in the formation of connective tissue sarcoma.

OBJECTIVE: The goal of this pilot study was to understand how focal transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) targeting auditory cortex changes brain function in chronic tinnitus using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). METHODS: People with chronic tinnitus were randomized to active or sham tDCS on five consecutive days in this mechanistic trial (n = 10/group). Focal 4x1 tDCS (central anode, surround cathodes) targeted left auditory cortex, with single-blind 2 mA current during twenty-minute sessions. Arterial spin-labeled and blood oxygenation level dependent MRI occurred immediately before and after the first tDCS session, and tinnitus symptoms were measured starting one week before the first tDCS session and through four weeks after the final session. RESULTS: Acute increases in cerebral blood flow and functional connectivity were noted in auditory cortex after the first active tDCS session. Reduced tinnitus loudness ratings after the final tDCS session correlated with acute change in functional connectivity between an auditory network and mediodorsal thalamus and prefrontal cortex. Reduced tinnitus intrusiveness also correlated with acute change in connectivity between precuneus and an auditory network. CONCLUSIONS: Focal auditory-cortex tDCS can influence function in thalamus, auditory, and prefrontal cortex, which may associate with improved tinnitus. SIGNIFICANCE: With future refinement, tDCS targeting auditory cortex could become a viable intervention for tinnitus.

Recognizing texts in images plays an important role in many applications, such as industrial intelligence, robot vision, automatic driving, command assistance, and scene understanding. Although great progress has been achieved in various fields, research on complex systems modeling using text recognition technology requires further attention. To address this, we propose a new end-to-end multi-task learning method, which includes a super-resolution branch (SRB) and a recognition branch. To effectively learn the semantic information of images, we utilize the feature pyramid network (FPN) to fuse high- and low-level semantic information. The feature map generated by FPN is then delivered separately to the super-resolution branch and the recognition branch. We introduce a novel super-resolution branch, the SRB based on the proposed dual attention mechanism (DAM), designed to enhance the capability of learning low-resolution text features. The DAM incorporates the residual channel attention to enhance channel dependencies and the character attention module to focus on context information. For the recognition branch, the feature map generated by FPN is fed into an RNN sequence module, and an attention-based decoder is constructed to predict the results. To address the issue of low-resolution text recognition in numerous Chinese scenes, we propose the Chinese super-resolution datasets instead of relying on traditional down-sampling techniques to generate training datasets. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed method performs robustly on low-resolution text images and achieves competitive results on benchmark datasets.

Pigs are susceptible to cold stress due to the absence of brown fat caused by the partial deletion of uncoupling protein 1 during their evolution. Some local pig breeds in China exhibit potential cold adaptability, but research has primarily focused on fat and intestinal tissues. Skeletal muscle plays a key role in adaptive thermogenesis in mammals, yet the molecular mechanism of cold adaptation in porcine skeletal muscle remains poorly understood. This study investigated the cold adaptability of two pig breeds, Mashen pigs (MS) and Large White pigs (LW), in a four-day cold (4 °C) or normal temperature (25 °C) environment. We recorded phenotypic changes and collected blood and longissimus dorsi muscle for transcriptome sequencing. Finally, the PRSS8 gene was randomly selected for functional exploration in porcine skeletal muscle satellite cells. A decrease in body temperature and body weight in both LW and MS pigs under cold stress, accompanied by increased shivering frequency and respiratory frequency, were observed. However, the MS pigs demonstrated stable physiological homeostasis, indicating a certain level of cold adaptability. The LW pigs primarily responded to cold stress by regulating their heat production and glycolipid energy metabolism. The MS pigs exhibited a distinct response to cold stress, involving the regulation of heat production, energy metabolism pathways, and robust mitochondrial activity, as well as a stronger immune response. Furthermore, the functional exploration of PRSS8 in porcine skeletal muscle satellite cells revealed that it affected cellular energy metabolism and thermogenesis by regulating ERK phosphorylation. These findings shed light on the diverse transcriptional responses of skeletal muscle in LW and MS pigs under cold stress, offering valuable insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying cold adaptation in pigs.

Metal clusters supported on TiO2 are widely used in many photocatalytic applications, including pollution control and production of solar fuels. Besides high photoactivity, stability during the photoreaction is another essential quality of high-performance photocatalysts, however systematic studies on this attribute are absent for metal clusters supported on TiO2. Here we have studied, both experimentally and with first-principles simulation methods, the stability of Pt, Pd and Au clusters prepared by ball milling on nanoshaped anatase nanoparticles preferentially exposing {001} (plates) and {101} (bipyramids) facets during the photogeneration of hydrogen. It is found that Pt/TiO2 exhibits superior stability than Pd/TiO2 and Au/TiO2, and that {001} facet-based photocatalysts always are more stable than their {101} analogous regardless of the considered metal species. The loss of stability associated with cluster sintering, which is facilitated by the transfer of photoexcited carriers from the metal species to the neighbouring Ti and O atoms, most significantly and detrimentally affects the H2-evolution photoactivity.

Pt-based catalysts have been widely used for the removal of short-chain volatile organic compounds (VOCs), such as propane. In this study, we synthesized Pt nanoparticles with a size of ca. 2.4 nm and loaded them on various fine-shaped CeO2 with different facets to investigate the effect of CeO2 morphology on the complete oxidation of propane. The Pt/CeO2-o catalyst with {111} facets exhibited superior catalytic activity compared to the Pt/CeO2-r catalyst with {110} and {100} facets. Specifically, the turnover frequency (TOF) value of Pt/CeO2-o was 1.8 times higher than that of Pt/CeO2-r. Moreover, Pt/CeO2-o showed outstanding long-term stability during 50 h. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) revealed that the excellent performance of Pt/CeO2-o is due to the prevalence of metallic Pt species, which promotes C-C bond cleavage and facilitates the rapid removal of surface formate species. In contrast, a stronger metal-support interaction in Pt/CeO2-r leads to easier oxidation of Pt species and the accumulation of intermediates, which is detrimental to the catalytic activity. Our work provides insight into the oxidation of propane on different nanoshaped Pt/CeO2 catalysts.

OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to compare the time required and concerns raised by various perspectives of participants regarding administering subcutaneous and intravenous trastuzumab for patients with breast cancer (BC). DESIGN: This observational time-motion study design with mixed-methods research (cross-sectional surveys and semistructured interviews) was conducted. The time spent on preparing or administering trastuzumab by different healthcare professionals (HCPs) was recorded. The data were analysed by descriptive/inferential statistical analyses, followed by thematic analyses. SETTING: Outpatient and inpatient administration units of a single medical centre in Taiwan. PARTICIPANTS: The study included patients with early-stage BC who received subcutaneous or intravenous trastuzumab (n=93), and HCPs including two attending physicians, a nurse practitioner, two pharmacists and two nurses. RESULT: Based on the perspectives of patients and HCPs, the subcutaneous form of trastuzumab was more efficient, less expensive and produced less discomfort in outpatient units than inpatient units. More participants preferred the subcutaneous form over the intravenous form in both outpatient and inpatient units. Pharmacists and nurse practitioners spent threefold more time on patients when preparing and administering the intravenous form in both outpatient and inpatient units. The concerns raised by patients and HCPs varied in certain aspects, including the injection skills, speed, mental distress (eg, needle phobia) and pain associated with the subcutaneous form. Almost all patients preferred receiving the subcutaneous form in outpatient units after the initial COVID-19 outbreak. CONCLUSION: Patients with early-stage BC preferred receiving subcutaneous trastuzumab in outpatient units rather than inpatient units or the intravenous form before and after the COVID-19 outbreak. Such findings may serve as real-world evidence to facilitate better quality of care regarding administration of subcutaneous or intravenous trastuzumab in medical settings, and its feasible resolutions to balance the quality, concerns and efficiency of anticancer administration during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: This study investigates the prevalence of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in school-age children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) based on hospital-based and population-based cohorts. Methods: The hospital-based sample comprised 42 children with ADHD and 65 without ADHD aged 6−12 years. Voiding dysfunction was assessed by the Dysfunctional Voiding Scoring System (DVSS) questionnaire. We compared the baseline data, DVSS score, and uroflowmetry between the two groups. For the population-based cohort in the national insurance database, we included 6526 children aged 6−12 years, whose claims record included the diagnosis of ADHD, and another 6526 control subjects matched by gender and age. We compared the presence of LUTS diagnosis codes between the two groups. Results: Our results showed that, for the hospital-based cohort, the mean total DVSS score and the proportion of significant LUTS in children in the ADHD group were significantly higher than in subjects in the non-ADHD group. The DVSS subscales showed that the item "I cannot wait when I have to pee" item was significantly higher in the ADHD group (1.62 ± 1.17 vs. 0.90 ± 1.09, p = 0.002). For the population-based cohort, children with ADHD had a significantly higher likelihood of storage symptoms (5.53% vs. 2.91%, p < 0.001) and enuresis (3.28% vs. 1.95%, p < 0.001) compared with those of the no ADHD group. Conclusions: Children with ADHD have a higher prevalence of significant LUTS, especially storage symptoms and enuresis, than children without ADHD. The observed correlations between ADHD and LUTS provided the supporting evidence to evaluate the concomitant voiding dysfunction in children with ADHD.

PURPOSE: Uveal melanoma is a high-vascularized tumor that lacks effective systemic therapies. Most anti-angiogenesis drug therapies only target endothelial cell-dependent angiogenesis but not vasculogenic mimicry (VM), which supplies blood to tumors independent of endothelial cells. Thus, we aimed to explore the inhibitory effects of luteolin on proliferation, migration, invasiveness, angiogenesis, and VM activity of uveal melanoma. We further explored the signaling pathway underlying the mechanism of action of luteolin. METHODS: Monocultures of uveal melanoma C918 cells, human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), and co-cultures of these two cell lines were established. Angiogenesis of HUVECs, VM formation of C918 cells, and the mosaic vessels formed by both cell types were observed under an inverted microscope. Cell counting kit-8, 5-ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (EdU), wound scratch, Transwell cell migration, and invasion assays were performed. VEGF levels were detected by ELISA. Western blotting was used to detect the expression of PI3K, p-PI3K P85, Akt, and p-Akt Ser473 proteins. RESULTS: Luteolin inhibited all three modes of angiogenesis observed in uveal melanoma in vitro. Luteolin effectively inhibited the proliferation, migration, and invasion of C918 cells and proliferation and migration of HUVECs. Furthermore, luteolin could inhibit the interaction between the endothelial cells and C918 cells. VEGF secretion in C918 cells and HUVECs treated with luteolin was inhibited. Luteolin decreased the levels of phosphorylated Akt kinase. CONCLUSION: We demonstrated the anti-angiogenic effects of luteolin, including against the VM type, in addition to suppressing tumor cell proliferation and migration in vitro. Furthermore, luteolin likely exerts its inhibitory effects via the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (AKT) signaling pathway. Luteolin might be an effective therapeutic candidate for treating highly vascularized uveal melanoma tumors.

Stroke-induced alterations in cerebral blood flow (perfusion) may contribute to functional language impairments in chronic aphasia, particularly in perilesional tissue. Abnormal perfusion in this region may also serve as a biomarker for predicting functional improvements with behavioral treatment interventions. Using pseudo-continuous arterial spin labeling in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), we examined perfusion in chronic aphasia, in perilesional rings in the left hemisphere and their right hemisphere homologues. In the left hemisphere we found a gradient pattern of decreasing perfusion closer to the lesion. The opposite pattern was found in the right hemisphere, with significantly increased perfusion close to the lesion homologue. Perfusion was also increased in the right hemisphere lesion homologue region relative to the surrounding tissue. We next examined changes in perfusion in two groups: one group who underwent MRI scanning before and after three months of a behavioral treatment intervention that led to significant language gains, and a second group who was scanned twice at a three-month interval without a treatment intervention. For both groups, there was no difference in perfusion over time in either the left or the right hemisphere. Moreover, within the treatment group pre-treatment perfusion scores did not predict treatment response; neither did pre-treatment perfusion predict post-treatment language performance. These results indicate that perfusion is chronically abnormal in both hemispheres, but chronically abnormal perfusion did not change in response to our behavioral treatment interventions, and did not predict responsiveness to language treatment.

Although neuroimaging studies of collision (COLL) sport athletes demonstrate alterations in brain structure and function from pre- to post-season, reliable tools to detect behavioral/cognitive change relevant to functional networks associated with participation in collision sports are lacking. This study evaluated the use of eye-movement testing to detect change in cognitive and sensorimotor processing among male club collegiate athletes after one season of participation in collision sports of variable exposure. We predicted that COLL (High Dose [hockey], n = 8; Low Dose [rugby], n = 9) would demonstrate longer reaction times (antisaccade and memory-guided saccade [MGS] latencies), increased inhibitory errors (antisaccade error rate), and poorer spatial working memory (MGS spatial accuracy) at post-season, relative to pre-season, whereas non-collision collegiate athletes (NON-COLL; n = 17) would remain stable. We also predicted that whereas eye-movement performance would detect pre- to post-season change, ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Test) performance would remain stable. Our data showed that NON-COLL had shorter (improved performance) post- versus pre-season antisaccade and MGS latencies, whereas COLL groups showed stable, longer, or attenuated reduction in latency (ps ≤ 0.001). Groups did not differ in antisaccade error rate. On the MGS task, NON-COLL demonstrated improved spatial accuracy over time, whereas COLL groups showed reduced spatial accuracy (p < 0.05, uncorrected). No differential change was observed on ImPACT. This study provides preliminary evidence for eye-movement testing as a sensitive marker of subtle changes in attentional control and working memory resulting from participation in sports with varying levels of subconcussive exposure.

BACKGROUND: Intensive care unit (ICU) patients experience multiple uncomfortable symptoms, which may be alleviated using music-based intervention, a nondrug treatment. This umbrella review aims to combine the data of systematic reviews and/or meta-analyses to evaluate the effectiveness of music-based intervention in improving uncomfortable symptoms in ICU patients. METHODS: A comprehensive literature search was performed on the PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Airiti Library, CINAHL, ProQuest, and Web of Science databases, and Epistemonikos. The search had no language restrictions, and articles on the improvement of symptoms using music-based intervention in adult ICU patients were included. This review protocol was registered on PROSPERO (CRD42021240327). RESULTS: This umbrella review retrieved 5 systematic reviews and 41 original studies, including 39 randomized controlled trials, and 2 nonrandomized controlled trials. Diverse music was the most common music type used for music-based intervention, the intervention music was typically decided by the study participants (61%), and most subjects underwent one intervention session (78%). Furthermore, most music intervention sessions lasted for 30 min (44%). The positive results included decreased anxiety, decreased pain, decreased agitation, decreased anesthesia dose and sedative use, decreased chances of delirium, decreased feelings of uncomfort, and improved sleep quality. CONCLUSIONS: A systematic review on the effectiveness of music-based intervention in improving uncomfortable symptoms in ICU patients revealed that 20-30 min intervention sessions showed the best improvement in the uncomfortable symptoms in patients. This study provides a basis for using music-based intervention to relieve the uncomfortable symptoms in critically ill ICU patients, and a reference for empirical clinical practice.

BACKGROUND: Schizophrenia requires lifelong treatment; Second-generation Antipsychotics (SGAs) have become the most prescribed medication for schizophrenia patients. The efficacy of various SGAs treatment may differ in schizophrenia patients with various traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) body constitution (BC) types. METHOD: This study applied a longitudinal quantitative research design, where a total of 66 participants were recruited. The Positive and Negative Symptom Scale (PANSS) and the Clinical Global Impression (CGI) score were used to evaluate patients' psychopathology status in hospitalization, and body constitution questionnaires were conducted by face-to-face interviews in the 1st, 3rd, and 6th week of hospitalization. RESULTS: More than 60% of schizophrenia patients who were treated with SGAs were classified to have unbalanced BC types including Yin-Xu, Yang-Xu and Stasis. Generalized estimating equation analysis revealed significant time effects in CGI and PANSS score improvements in both unbalanced and gentleness (balance) BC types, but no significant changes in the group and group-time interaction in the CGI and PANSS scores in different BC type groups. CONCLUSIONS: Schizophrenia patients under SGAs treatment had a higher proportion of unbalanced BC types which may lead to poorer physical or mental statuses, such as overweight problems. Health care providers could apply interventions according to patients' BC types for disease prevention.

BACKGROUND: Drug-resistant strains of bacteria are associated with severe consequences such as bacteremia, shock, and death, and increase hospital stay durations and medical health expenses. Therefore, reducing the spread of drug-resistant strains is a priority concern. PURPOSE: This project was developed to reduce the number of colonization cases of drug-resistant strains and subsequently increase the quality of care provided in our intensive care unit. RESOLUTIONS: In this project, a chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG) bath standard protocol and CHG bath skill checklist were established, education and training courses were planned, a regular bed curtain replacement schedule and sink cleaning protocols were implemented, and regular audits were conducted. RESULTS: Immediately following project implementation (October - December 2018), the average monthly cases of Vancomycin-resistant enterococci colonization decreased from 6.08 to 4.33, and the average monthly cases of multi-drug resistant Acinebacter baumannii colonization decreased from 4.08 to 1.33. Furthermore, between January and July 2019, the average monthly cases of colonization for the abovementioned bacteria numbered 4 and 0.86, respectively, which met the level of reduction targeted in this project. CONCLUSIONS: The results of this project indicate that implementing CHG bed baths is effective in reducing the incidence of drug resistant strain colonization and rate of related infections in patients. CHG bed baths should be applied clinically to improve the quality of intensive care.

Choroidal melanoma is a devastating disease that causes visual loss and a high mortality rate due to metastasis. Luteolin, a potential anticancer compound, is widely found in natural plants. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antiproliferative, antiadhesive, antimigratory and anti-invasive effects of luteolin on choroidal melanoma cells in vitro and to explore its potential mechanism. Cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assays, 5-ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (EdU) assays, Cell adhesion, migration, and invasion assays were performed to examine the inhibitory effects of luteolin on cell cell viability, proliferation, adhesion, migration and invasion capacities, respectively. Considering the correlation between Matrix metalloenzymes and tumor metastasis, Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) were used to assess matrix metalloproteases MMP-2 and MMP-9 secretion. Western blotting was performed to detect p-PI3K P85, Akt, and p-Akt protein expression. The cytoskeletal proteins vimentin were observed with cell immunofluorescence staining. Luteolin can inhibit OCM-1 cell proliferation, migration, invasion and adhesion and C918 cell proliferation, migration, and invasion through the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway. Therefore, Luteolin may have potential as a therapeutic medication for Choroidal melanoma.
