Background/Objectives: Anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) is an aggressive and rare cancer with a poor prognosis, and traditional therapies have limited efficacy. This study investigates drug repositioning, focusing on auranofin, a gold-based drug originally used for rheumatoid arthritis, as a potential treatment for ATC. Methods: Auranofin was identified from an FDA-approved drug library and tested on two thyroid cancer cell lines, 8505C and FRO. Antitumor efficacy was evaluated through gene and protein expression analysis using Western blot, FACS, and mRNA sequencing. In vivo experiments were conducted using subcutaneous injections in nude mice to confirm the anticancer effects of auranofin. Results: Auranofin induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and apoptosis, leading to a dose-dependent reduction in cell viability, G1/S phase cell cycle arrest, and altered expression of regulatory proteins. It also inhibited cancer stem cell activity and suppressed epithelial-mesenchymal transition. mRNA sequencing revealed significant changes in the extracellular matrix-receptor interaction pathway, supported by Western blot results. In vivo xenograft models demonstrated strong antitumor activity. Conclusions: Auranofin shows promise as a repurposed therapeutic agent for ATC, effectively inhibiting cell proliferation, reducing metastasis, and promoting apoptosis. These findings suggest that auranofin could play a key role in future ATC treatment strategies.

Background and Objectives: Muscle atrophy caused by chronic ankle instability (CAI) can incur muscle weakness, altered movement patterns, and increased risk of injury. Previous studies have investigated the effects of rehabilitative exercises and neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) on characteristics in CAI individuals, but few studies have examined their effects on foot and ankle muscle morphology. This study aimed to determine the effects of rehabilitative exercises and NMES on muscle morphology and dynamic balance in individuals with CAI. Materials and Methods: Participants with CAI (n = 47) were randomly divided into control (CG), rehabilitative exercise (REG), NMES (NG), and rehabilitative exercise and NMES combined (RNG) groups. The six-week intervention program consisting of rehabilitative exercises and NMES was applied to groups excluding CG. Muscle morphology and dynamic balance were evaluated using a portable wireless diagnostic ultrasound device and dynamic balance tests. For statistical analysis, an effect size with 95% confidence interval was calculated to assess mean differences according to intervention. Results: After six weeks, significant increases in morphology and dynamic balance were observed for all muscles except flexor hallucis longus (p > 0.05) in the intervention groups except for CG. However, no significant changes were observed in the CG (p > 0.05). Conclusions: These findings suggest that intervention programs may help prevent muscle atrophy and improve balance in CAI individuals.

Aim: This study aimed to analyze the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infodemic phenomenon in the medical field, providing essential data to help healthcare professionals understand it. Methods: This study utilized a hybrid model for concept analysis. In the theoretical phase (first phase), a literature review was conducted using ScienceDirect, PubMed, CINAHL, ProQuest, Scopus, Web of Science, DBpia, RISS, and KISS. Semi-structured interviews, involving eight physicians and six nurses, were used in the fieldwork phase (second phase). In the final analysis phase (third phase), the results of the preceding phases were combined. Results: Based on the findings of these phases, the COVID-19 infodemic can be defined as "the phenomenon of information flood, reproduction, dissemination, and asymmetry, which occurred during the pandemic through social networks among the public lacking essential knowledge of infectious disease, and is associated with negative and positive effects." Conclusion: Our findings can help the Ministry of Health and Welfare and healthcare professionals to understand the phenomenon of the infodemic and prepare necessary strategies and education programs for the public. Therefore, the provision of basic data is important for developing influential roles for healthcare professionals during infectious disease outbreaks.

Purpose: Cervical insufficiency is a significant risk factor for preterm birth and miscarriage during the second trimester; cervical cerclage is a treatment option. This study seeks to evaluate the predictive roles of various clinical factors and to develop predictive models for immediate and long-term outcomes after rescue cerclage. Methods: We conducted a multicenter retrospective study on patients who underwent rescue cerclage at 14 to 26 weeks of gestation. Data were collected from the Electronic Medical Record systems of participating hospitals. Outcomes were dichotomized into immediate failure (inability to maintain pregnancy for at least 48 hours post-cerclage, gestational latency < 2 days) and long-term success (maintenance of pregnancy until at least 28 weeks of gestation). Clinical factors influencing these outcomes were analyzed. Results: The study included 98 patients. Immediate failure correlated with longer prolapsed membrane lengths, elevated C-reactive protein levels at admission, and extended operation time. The successful maintenance of pregnancy until at least 28 weeks was associated with earlier gestational age at diagnosis, negative AmniSure test results, longer lengths of the functional cervix, and smaller cervical dilatation at the time of cerclage. Binary logistic regression models for immediate failure and long-term success exhibited excellent and good predictive abilities, respectively (AUROC = 0.912, 95% CI: 0.834-0.989; and AUROC = 0.872, 95% CI: 0.788-0.956). Conclusion: The developed logistic regression models offer a valuable tool for the prognostic assessment of patients undergoing rescue cerclage, enabling informed clinical decision-making.

The importance of ß-glucan from S. cerevisiae in angiogenesis has not been well studied. We investigated whether ß-glucan induces angiogenesis through PI3K/Src and ERK1/2 signaling pathway in HUVECs. We identified that ß-glucan induced phosphorylation of PI3K, Src, Akt, eNOS, and ERK1/2. Subsequently, we found that this phosphorylation increased the viability of HUVECs. We also observed that stimulation of ß-glucan promoted the activity of MEF2 and MEF2-dependent pro-angiogenic genes, including EGR2, EGR3, KLF2, and KLF4. Additionally, the role of ß-glucan in angiogenesis was confirmed using in vitro and ex vivo experiments including cell migration, capillary-like tube formation and mouse aorta ring assays. To determine the effect of ß-glucan on the PI3K/Akt/eNOS and ERK1/2 signaling pathway, PI3K inhibitor wortmannin and ERK1/2 inhibitor SCH772984 were used. Through the Matrigel plug assay, we confirmed that ß-glucan significantly increased angiogenesis in vivo. Taken together, our study demonstrates that ß-glucan promotes angiogenesis via through PI3K and ERK1/2 signaling pathway.

Background: Identifying actionable driver mutations via tissue-based comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) is paramount in treatment decisions for metastatic non-squamous, non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, the role of CGP remains elusive in resectable NSCLC. Here, we elucidate the feasibility of CGP in early-stage NSCLC Korean patients and compare the tumor mutational burden (TMB) and mutation landscape using three different platforms. Methods: All surgically resected NSCLC samples (N = 96) were analyzed to assess the concordance in TMB calculation and targetable mutations using whole-exome sequencing (WES) and TruSight Oncology 500 (TSO500). In all, 26 samples were analyzed with Foundation One CDx Assay (F1CDx). Programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression was evaluated using Vectra Polaris. Results: Stage distribution post-surgery was 80% I (N = 77) and 20% II (N = 19). Ninety-nine percent (N = 95) were adenocarcinoma. The median TMB with WES and TSO500 was 1.6 and 4.7 mut/Mb, respectively (p < 0.05). Using all three platforms, the median TMB was 1.9, 5.5, and 4 mut/Mb for WES, TSO500, and F1CDx, respectively (p = 0.0048). Linear regression analysis of TMB values calculated between WES and TSO500 resulted in a concordance correlation coefficient of 0.83. For the PD-L1 tumor proportion score of <1% (negative, N = 18), 1-49% (low, N = 68), and ⩾50% (high, N = 10), the R2 values were 0.075, 0.79, and 0.95, respectively. The R2 values for TMB concordance were variable between the three platforms. Mutation landscape revealed EGFR mutation (51%, N = 49) as the most common actionable driver mutation, comprising L858R (N = 22), E19del (N = 20), and other non-common EGFR mutations (N = 7). Conclusion: TSO500 and F1CDx showed robust analytical performance for TMB assessment with TSO500 showing stronger concordance of TMB with high PD-L1 expression. As the paradigm for the management of early-resected NSCLC continues to evolve, understanding TMB and the mutation landscape may help advance clinical outcomes for this subset of patients.

Background and aims: Favourable clinical data were published on the efficacy of CT-P13, the first biosimilar of infliximab (IFX), in pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD); however, few studies have compared the effect on endoscopic healing (EH) and drug retention rate between the IFX originator and CT-P13. Therefore, we aimed to compare EH and the drug retention rate between the IFX originator and CT-P13. Methods: Children with Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC)/IBD-unclassified (IBD-U) at 22 medical centers were enrolled, with a retrospective review conducted at 1-year and last follow-up. Clinical remission, EH and drug retention rate were evaluated. Results: We studied 416 pediatric patients with IBD: 77.4% had CD and 22.6% had UC/IBD-U. Among them, 255 (61.3%) received the IFX originator and 161 (38.7%) received CT-P13. No statistically significant differences were found between the IFX originator and CT-P13 in terms of corticosteroid-free remission and adverse events. At 1-year follow-up, EH rates were comparable between them (CD: P=0.902, UC: P=0.860). The estimated cumulative cessation rates were not significantly different between the two groups. In patients with CD, the drug retention rates were 66.1% in the IFX originator and 71.6% in the CT-P13 group at the maximum follow-up period (P >0.05). In patients with UC, the drug retention rates were 49.8% in the IFX originator and 56.3% in the CT-P13 group at the maximum follow-up period (P >0.05). Conclusions: The IFX originator and CT-P13 demonstrated comparable therapeutic response including EH, clinical remission, drug retention rate and safety in pediatric IBD.

Background and aim: Bowel preparation for pediatric colonoscopy presents several challenges. However, no bowel preparation regimen is universally preferred for children. We aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of oral sulfate tablet (OST) in pediatric bowel preparation. Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed data from children who received 2l of polyethylene glycol and ascorbate (PEG/Asc) or OST for bowel preparation between 2021 and 2023. A comparative analysis was conducted between the two groups. Results: A total of 146 patients were included (2l PEG/Asc: 115, 73.0% vs. OST: 31). No significant difference was observed in the total BBPS score (median 8.0 vs. 8.0, P = 0.152) and the total OBPS score (median 5.0 vs. 3.0, P = 0.152) between the two groups. No significant difference was noted in the ratio of a bubble score of 0 (73.0% vs. 93.5%, P = 0.132). The incidence of abdominal pain was significantly lower in the OST group (32.2% vs. 3.2%, P = 0.002). The VAS score for overall satisfaction was significantly higher in the OST group (4.0 vs. 7.0, P < 0.001). For the next colonoscopy bowel preparation, a higher proportion of patients in the OST group showed a willingness to use the same preparation regimen (33.9% vs. 83.9%, P < 0.001). Conclusion: OST was as efficacious and safe as 2 L of PEG/Asc for pediatric bowel preparation. The satisfaction level was higher with OST than with 2 L of PEG/Asc. OST may be considered a good alternative for children with poor compliance during bowel preparation.

Objective: The objective of this study was to compare the oncologic outcomes between those who underwent robotic surgery or conventional laparoscopic surgery for endometrial cancer. Method: We performed a retrospective review of patients from a single institution who underwent either laparoscopic or robotic surgery for the treatment of endometrial cancer between January 2010 and December 2020. Tumor characteristics, recurrence rate, disease-free survival, and overall survival were compared according to surgical approach. Results: Among the 268 patients included in this study, 95 underwent robotic surgery (35.4%) and 173 underwent laparoscopic surgery (64.6%). The median follow-up durations were 51 and 59 months for the robotic surgery and laparoscopic surgery groups, respectively (p = 0.085). The recurrence rate did not differ significantly between the two groups. (p = 0.371). Disease-free survival (p = 0.721) and overall survival (p = 0.453) were similar between the two groups. In both univariate and multivariate analyses, the type of surgery was not related to disease-free survival. The median total cost per admission was significantly higher for RS than for LS (12,123 vs. 6,884 USD, p < 0.0001). Conclusion: With consistently greater costs and similar survival outcomes, robotic systems have few advantages compared with laparoscopy.

Background/Aims: The recent update on the Selecting Therapeutic Targets in Inflammatory Bowel Disease initiative has added normal growth in children as an intermediate target in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. We aimed to investigate factors associated with reaching mid-parental height (MPH) in patients diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease in childhood and the adolescent period. Methods: This multicenter retrospective observational study included pediatric patients with inflammatory bowel disease that had reached adult height. Factors associated with reaching MPH were investigated by logistic regression analyses. Results: A total of 166 patients were included in this study (128 Crohn's disease and 38 ulcerative colitis). Among them, 54.2% (90/166) had reached their MPH. Multivariable logistic regression analysis revealed that height Z-score at diagnosis and MPH Z-score were independently associated with reaching MPH (odds ratio [OR], 8.45; 95% confidence interval [CI], 4.44 to 17.90; p<0.001 and OR, 0.11; 95% CI, 0.04 to 0.24; p<0.001, respectively). According to the receiver operating characteristic curve analysis, the optimal cutoff level of "height Z-score at diagnosis minus MPH Z-score" that was associated with reaching MPH was -0.01 with an area under the curve of 0.889 (95% CI [0.835 to 0.944], sensitivity 88.9%, specificity 84.2%, positive predictive value 87.0%, negative predictive value 86.5%, p<0.001). Conclusions: Height Z-score at diagnosis and MPH Z-score were the only factors associated with reaching MPH. Efforts should be made to restore growth in pediatric patients who present with a negative "height Z-score at diagnosis minus MPH Z-score."

Triplenegative breast cancer (TNBC) is associated with a poor prognosis; however, treatments for TNBC are limited, with poor outcomes. MicroRNAs (miRNAs/miRs) are small noncoding RNA molecules that are able to regulate gene expression. The present study aimed to identify differentially expressed miRNAs in patients with breast cancer, and to investigate the functional role of the identified miRNA targets and their effects in vitro and in vivo. Transfection with miR606 suppressed TNBC cell proliferation, migration, invasion and tumor sphereforming ability, as determined using trypan blue, Transwell and sphere formation assays. Moreover, miR606 induced the apoptosis of TNBC cells, as determined by flow cytometric analysis. Furthermore, intratumoral injections of miR606 mimics suppressed tumor growth in MDAMB231 xenografts. In addition, MDAMB231 cells transfected with miR606 mimics exhibited decreased lung metastatic nodules in a mouse tail vein injection model. Notably, miR606 and STC1 expression had opposing effects on the overall survival of patients with TNBC. The results of the present study suggested a novel tumor suppressor function for miR606 in TNBC, thus indicating its potential application in the development of anticancer miRNA therapeutics.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to examine whether older adults exhibit reduced abilities in coordinating lexical retrieval and syntactic formulation during sentence production and whether an individual's working memory capacity predicts age-related changes in sentence production. METHOD: A total of 124 Korean-speaking individuals (79 young and 45 older adults) completed a lexical priming sentence production task. The participants described a target picture (a dog biting a monkey) after reading either an agent (dog) or a theme (monkey) prime word. The proportion of passive sentences was used as the dependent variable. RESULTS: When the theme noun was primed, older adults produced fewer passive sentences than young adults. Working memory tasks significantly predicted individual differences in the sentence production of older adults. CONCLUSIONS: With aging, the ability to efficiently formulate syntactic structures in coordination with varying lexical information declines. Among older adults, age-related changes in these sentence production processes are associated with reduced working memory. Our constrained language production task is sensitive to detecting aging effects.

PURPOSE: The purpose of the study was to investigate the treatment efficacy of a discourse-based working memory (WM) protocol for individuals with the amnestic type of mild cognitive impairment (MCI). METHOD: The current study employed a randomised, single-blind design. Fourteen individuals with MCI participated in the study (n = 7 treatment group and n = 7 control group). The treatment protocol consisted of 10 sessions two times per week, and treatment was individually administered only to the treatment group. A Wilcoxon signed-rank test was performed to verify pre-post comparisons within each group. Mann-Whitney nonparametric tests were conducted to confirm the differences between the treatment and control groups for the post-treatment scores. RESULT: The treatment group demonstrated a significant increase in story-retelling outcomes for both the treated stories and untreated novel stories compared to the control group. Furthermore, the treatment group presented transfer effects for WM span measures and controlled word association tasks. CONCLUSION: The results indicated that a discourse-based WM treatment protocol is efficacious for the amnestic type of mild cognitive impairment with the effects transferred to frontal lobe functions, as measured by WM tasks and semantic word fluency measures. Further studies are needed to track the trajectory of performance across sessions.

BACKGROUND: Tumor-derived exosomes are critical elements of the cell-cell communication response to various stimuli. This study aims to reveal that the histone deacetylase 5 (HDAC5) and p53 interaction upon radiation in hepatocellular carcinoma intricately regulates the secretion and composition of exosomes. METHODS: We observed that HDAC5 and p53 expression were significantly increased by 2 Gy and 4 Gy radiation exposure in HCC. Normal- and radiation-derived exosomes released by HepG2 were purified to investigate the exosomal components. RESULTS: We found that in the radiation-derived exosome, exosomal Maspin was notably increased. Maspin is known as an anti-angiogenic gene. The expression of Maspin was regulated at the cellular level by HDAC5, and it was elaborately regulated and released in the exosome. Radiation-derived exosome treatment caused significant inhibition of angiogenesis in HUVECs and mouse aortic tissues. Meanwhile, we confirmed that miR-151a-3p was significantly reduced in the radiation-derived exosome through exosomal miRNA sequencing, and three HCC-specific exosomal miRNAs were also decreased. In particular, miR-151a-3p induced an anti-apoptotic response by inhibiting p53, and it was shown to induce EMT and promote tumor growth by regulating p53-related tumor progression genes. In the HCC xenograft model, radiation-induced exosome injection significantly reduced angiogenesis and tumor size. CONCLUSIONS: Our present findings demonstrated HDAC5 is a vital gene of the p53-mediated release of exosomes resulting in tumor suppression through anti-cancer exosomal components in response to radiation. Finally, we highlight the important role of exosomal Maspin and mi-151a-3p as a biomarker in enhancing radiation treatment sensitivity. Therapeutic potential of HDAC5 through p53-mediated exosome modulation in radiation treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma.

BACKGROUND: There have been many epidemiologic studies on community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) among children, most of which had substantial limitations. This study investigated the etiologic distribution and clinical characteristics of CAP in Korean children for 5 years before the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. METHODS: A retrospective analysis of children hospitalized for CAP at 4 referral hospitals during 2015-2020 was performed. Cases in which bronchiolitis was suspected or pulmonary infiltration was not evident on chest radiography (CXR) were excluded. Viruses and atypical bacteria were defined as detected when positive in the polymerase chain reaction test performed for respiratory specimens. Serologic testing result for Mycoplasma pneumoniae was incorporated with strict interpretation. Pyogenic bacteria were included only when cultured in blood, pleural fluid, or bronchoalveolar lavage, but those cultured in endotracheal aspirate or sputum when the case was clinically evident bacterial pneumonia were also included. RESULTS: A total of 2,864 cases of suspected pneumonia were selected by diagnosis code and CXR findings. Medical chart and CXR review excluded nosocomial pneumonia and cases without evident infiltration, resulting in 517 (18.1%) CAP cases among 489 children. Regarding clinical symptoms, high fever was present in 59.4% and dyspnea in 19.9% of cases. Respiratory support was required for 29.2% of patients, including mechanical ventilation for 3.9%. Pathogens were detected in 49.9% of cases, with viruses in 32.3%, atypical bacteria in 17.8%, and pyogenic bacteria in 2.3% of cases. As single pathogens, M. pneumoniae (16.8%) and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV, 13.7%) were the most common. Parenteral ß-lactam and macrolide antibiotics were administered in 81.6% and 50.7% of cases, respectively. A total of 12 (2.3%) cases resulted in poor outcomes, including 3 deaths. CONCLUSION: M. pneumoniae and RSV were the most commonly detected pathogens of pediatric CAP, which was selected by strict clinical and radiologic criteria. It is necessary to carefully decide whether to use parenteral antibiotics based on the epidemiology and clinical features of CAP in children.

Background/Aims: : The recent update on Selecting Therapeutic Targets in Inflammatory Bowel Disease initiative has added a decrease in fecal calprotectin (FC) to an acceptable range as an intermediate target for Crohn's disease (CD). We aimed to investigate whether postinduction FC could predict future persistent remission (PR) and endoscopic healing (EH) after 1 year of treatment with infliximab (IFX) in pediatric patients with CD. Methods: : This multicenter retrospective observational study included pediatric patients with CD who were followed up for at least 1 year after starting IFX. The association of postinduction FC with PR and EH was investigated. Results: : A total of 132 patients were included in this study. PR and EH were observed in 71.2% (94/132) and 73.9% (82/111) of the patients, respectively. In multivariate logistic regression analysis, only the postinduction FC level was associated with PR (odds ratio [OR], 0.26; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.08 to 0.66; p=0.009). The FC levels at initiation of IFX and postinduction were significantly associated with EH (OR, 0.73; 95% CI, 0.53 to 0.99; p=0.044 and OR, 0.20; 95% CI, 0.06 to 0.49; p=0.002, respectively). According to the receiver operating characteristic curve analysis, the optimal cutoff level for postinduction FC associated with PR was 122 mg/kg, and that associated with EH was 377 mg/kg. Conclusions: : Postinduction FC was associated with PR and EH after 1 year of treatment with IFX in pediatric patients with CD. Our findings emphasize the importance of FC as an intermediate target in the treat-to-target era.

Vaccination against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been acknowledged as an effective mean of preventing infection and hospitalization. However, the emergence of highly transmissible SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern (VOCs) has led to substantial increase in infections among children and adolescents. Vaccine-induced immunity and longevity have not been well defined in this population. Therefore, we aimed to analyze humoral and cellular immune responses against ancestral and SARS-CoV-2 variants after two shots of the BNT162b2 vaccine in healthy adolescents. Although vaccination induced a robust increase of spike-specific binding Abs and neutralizing Abs against the ancestral and SARS-CoV-2 variants, the neutralizing activity against the Omicron variant was significantly low. On the contrary, vaccine-induced memory CD4+ T cells exhibited substantial responses against both ancestral and Omicron spike proteins. Notably, CD4+ T cell responses against both ancestral and Omicron strains were preserved at 3 months after two shots of the BNT162b2 vaccine without waning. Polyfunctionality of vaccine-induced memory T cells was also preserved in response to Omicron spike protein. The present findings characterize the protective immunity of vaccination for adolescents in the era of continuous emergence of variants/subvariants.

Aim: In South Korea, the level of nursing governance is moving toward shared governance. This study sought to explore nursing education contents in undergraduate nursing programs necessary to improve the governance of nurses from the perspectives of nurse managers. Methods: The study employs thematic analysis following the guidelines outlined in the Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research utilizing a qualitative research design. Our investigation involves general or tertiary hospital nurse managers intending to gain valuable insights and perspectives. Results: Interview data from 14 nurse managers were analyzed. A total of one main and four sub-themes were derived from the qualitative data analysis. Analysis revealed the main theme, "occupational socialization." The four sub-themes were education on "nurse-patient and nurse-colleague communicative interaction," "humanity," "career development," and "nurses as politicians." Conclusion: The findings are valuable in suggesting critically needed educational content in undergraduate nursing programs to improve nursing governance. Future research should investigate the effects of the abovementioned themes on nursing governance among clinical nurses or nursing students for several years of follow-up data collection.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play a crucial role as oncogenic or tumor suppressors in the pathogenesis and progression of tumors. However, few studies have investigated the exact role of miR-4284 in renal cell carcinoma (RCC). We aimed to investigate the role of miR-4284 as a tumor suppressor in renal cancer cell lines. A498 and Caki-1 were transfected with miR-4284. The Cell Counting Kit-8, colony formation, apoptosis assays, and quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction were used to evaluate tumor growth-inhibiting functions. The wound-healing, transwell, and sphere-formation assays were conducted to investigate tumorigenic characteristics. The potential target genes of miR-4284 were predicted and experimentally verified. A xenograft experiment was performed to estimate the tumor-growth-suppressive function of miR-4284. miR-4284 overexpression suppressed proliferation, induced apoptosis, and suppressed tumorigenic features of renal cancer cells. Glutamate decarboxylase 1 (GAD1) was directly targeted by miR-4284. A xenograft mouse model injected with Caki-1 cells transfected with miR-4284 showed significantly decreased tumor growth rate and volume. miR-4284 affected tumor growth, metastasis, and apoptosis of renal cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. These findings highlight the potential of miR-4284 as a target for anticancer miRNA therapeutics in RCC.
